âWhich SFF book written by a female author do you want everybody to read? #WomenInSFF continues and today's theme is "I would die on this hill". We are supposed to write about a book we want everybody to read. But I couldn't pick one book - I want to write about the author. My main literature discovery of the year - T.Kingfisher(it's a pen-name of Ursula Vernon). ⢠If you want to read something comforting, absurd and funny I can recommend one of her middle-grade works - A Wizardâs Guide to Defensive Baking or Minor Mage. The first one is about baker girl Mona and the unusual use of baking magic, the second one is about the magical journey of a very-very young mage and his armadillo familiar. ⢠If you like mystery, detective, and romance (all in one) you can dive into the world of The White Rat. For example, pick the Clocktaur War series or The Saint of Steel and you will not be disappointed. I'm reading Swordheart right now - it's my last unfinished book from this world and I need to say that this world is really enjoyable and I grew attached to it. ⢠For those who love fairytale re-tellings there is Nettle&Bone, the fresh release, a very nice story with a really sympathetic protagonist. There is also Bryony and Roses in this genre(it's Beauty and the Beast re-telling, but it's still on my TBR, so I can't recommend it yet). ⢠T.Kingfisher also has a good range of horror books - The Hollow Places, The Twisted Ones, and newly released What Moves The Dead. I haven't read any of these books - not a big fan of horror. But for T.Kingfisher I'm going to make an exception and try. But I need to say that in her non-horror books the scary moments had an amazing chilling atmosphere and it seems that she can be good in this too, so I'm really intrigued. So this is it. Read T.Kingfisher. Love T.Kingfisher. I'm ready to die on this hill. #book #books #bookrecommendations #bookreview #fantasy #fantasybooks #fantasybooksseries #tkingfisher #nettleandbone #whatmovesthedead #ursulavernon #awizardsguidetodefensivebaking #minormage #thesaintofsteel #paladinsgrace #clocktaurwar #clockworkboys #swordheart #thehollowplaces #thetwistedones #womeninsff https://www.instagram.com/p/CgmOeY0rz0x/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸Things What Moves the Dead has ruined for me: Mushrooms, hares, mountain lakes, and arm hair. Itâs a delightfully creepy remix of Fall of the House of Usher that will keep you reading well past your bed time and then scare you awake until morning. Itâs the kind if book where you go âugh thatâs disgusting; I have to keep reading.â #book #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #whatmovesthedead #horror #bookreview (at Victor, Idaho) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgkAGkCrb8F/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
