i have a lot of things to say but to keep it short moffat's writing so often completely lacks emotional weight, either because he fails to insert it or because he removes it without realising
as an example of the former, both the women in this episode have scenes where the sad music swells and everyone's crying and you're meant to be sad along with them, her mum died, the doctor's leaving, they're sad conceptually but i couldn't help sitting there and thinking... i just don't care about this. you've failed to write characters or scenes i can get emotionally invested in and instead reached for the cheapest tricks available (universally relatable sad concepts such as dying parent or ending friendship) and figured that would be enough to elicit a reaction. this is something he comes back to countless times, which i don't want to dwell on here but once you notice he's doing it, it's everywhere.
as for the latter, take the death of trev. he's a likable guy and watching him slowly dying would be quite sad but my immediate thought wasn't "aw oh no :( " it was that i have seen an unfortunate amount of moffat media and all his doctor who episodes so i am 100% certain that this isn't trev's actual end, that somehow his consciousness is gonna get uploaded to a database and live on, so there's no point being sad for him. and what do you know, like 20 minutes later they confirm i was right, which the doctor and the audience learns at the same time (except the doctor learns he's alive before he even learns he died, so he never even has to mourn). moffat's completely removed any kind of weight regarding the character's lives since he never actually just up and kills anyone so his stakes are impossible to take seriously.

Ok I know you probably never want to hear about high guardian spice again (and honestly fair if I were to put so much time into something I disliked I wouldn’t want to touch it ever again) but I just finished watching the 5 hour complete saga compilation of your essays (which has been added to my comfort video essays playlist bc I watch it so religiously now) and you make the point of the characters failing because Raye Rodriguez was too emotionally attached and saw them as OCs to the point where he couldn’t stand to see them do wrong.
But here’s the thing - isn’t the whole thing about being an artist or writer with OCs is to endlessly traumatize or torture them (or at least from my internet experience)?
So not only is Raye bad at writing characters, he just doesn’t know how to have OCs other than “yeah I draw them in cute setting and ship them because their color palettes go together”
(Also love your videos, love your art, please make a million more ok thank you goodbye)
askhdkasjkdjs THIS IS SO SWEET THANK YOU????
When I saw the notification I thought I was gonna get yelled at for a recent post I made saying "tumblr is actually fine right now" so this was a really nice surprise to wake up to 😂
And I get what you mean but i think I would word it differently;
I think the whole thing with OCs is to push them into situations that forces them to act in extreme ways they wouldn't otherwise, most often for the best (they can heroic, they can emotional, they can say the things they've been holding back, they can be open to be cared for, they can be emotionally honest, they can show weakness, they can show strength) but also sometimes for the worst. (they can become enraged, they can lash out, they can become violent, they can become selfish, they can harm others etc etc). Or more often than not, a mix of both (they can be selfish and therefor decide to heoricly protect the people they are selfish about because those people belong to THEM.)
But I don't think this is the be all end all. Some people may just want OCs to have as comfort characters. Some people NEED those OCs to be comfort characters, for whatever reason in real life, to just have characters who live gentle, quiet lives, form bonds with their friends, forms close connections with the community, and just live peacefully.
I think in HGS' case, the problem is not that Raye is too attached to his OCs to "put them in situations", but more he is too attached to his OCs to allow them to make mistakes in a way that might put them in a bad light. Of course, in doing so it makes the characters come across as HORRIBLE people. When his OCs make mistakes, they tend to be mistakes that stem from them actively being bad people (or just nonsensical like Rose being the one to kill the sea dragon for no real explained reason at all). But the resolution to these mistakes is most often to acknowledge "I did something bad" but then go "BUT it's because I am struggling with x y or z" and turn the apology into excuses and explanations in a way that makes the person they're apologising to have to make THEM feel better.
"Wow I'm so sorry! I never knew you were going through all that!".
But I'm going off track here.
Basically I don't think all OCs need to be pushed into extreme situations or emotions to be "good". Not at all. I just think the situations that the HGS characters are put in are not handled correctly in the lead up to those events, nor the follow through to those events.
But I do think that you cannot write characters in a professional tv show and still treat them with the same mentality as "these are my deviantArt OCs who I ship together and like drawing cute outfits in".
There has to be a certain level of criticality to the characters. You have to be able to recognise flaws they have. And that's not even a problem! Because those flaws are what make a character INTERESTING.
I'm busy having fun watching people watch Unicorn Warriors Eternal, and it's been a lot of fun seeing what people make of my favourite character, Edred. Some people REALLY fucking hate him, but most people really enjoy him. Because he is an EXCEPTIONALLY flawed character. But he's likeable because he is very obviously a good person who deeply cares about the people close to him. And also because every fuck up he does in the show comes back to bite him in the ass a few episodes later and make his own life harder.
lol YOU DID THIS TO YOURSELF, EDRED!
Tumblr media
You cannot write your characters as if their flaws are insults when pointed out. Even if you're only writing cute, slice of life stuff without any extreme situations or emotions.
My favourite Slice of Life anime are the OG classics, Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh. Nothing extreme happens in either shows, but their characters, especially Azumanga, are still alowed to have flaws which are treated AS flaws.
And it's fine. It's ok to treat those flaws AS flaws and not try and excuse or quickly justify the things the characters do wrong.

every single student in the world has likely procrastinated at some point - i know i definitely have! sometimes i think it can be quite helpful because means that you don't spend every minute of every day studying... but on the other hand, it can become very hard to beat. there are so many advice posts in the community on this topic but i thought that i would share my own tips!
disclaimer: everyone studies differently and these are my personal tips. they may not work for you but they can be a good starting point
What is Procrastination?
i found this little summary of procrastinating on the internet and thought it completely covered everything that i wanted to say on this point:
Procrastination is the habit of delaying an important task, usually by focusing on less urgent, more enjoyable, and easier activities instead. It is different from laziness, which is the unwillingness to act.
Procrastination can restrict your potential and undermine your career. It can also disrupt teamwork, reduce morale, and even lead to depression and job loss. So, it's crucial to take proactive steps to prevent it.
The first step to overcoming procrastination is to recognize that you're doing it. Then, identify the reasons behind your behavior and use appropriate strategies to manage and overcome it.
- How to Stop Procrastinating by Mindtools
so what is learnt from this is that:
procrastination is not being lazy
it is avoiding tasks by doing other easier tasks
it can have negative effects
you need to proactively take steps to avoid it
first, recognise the procrastinating then use strategies to break the cycle
Conventional Tips
these are the basic tips that are some of the most well-known strategies for ending procrastination and can be some of the most important steps!
1. get organised. tidy up your desk to study space because there is nothing worse than having to work in a place that is chaotic and mess. collect the information you need for the task, for example, notes you've made or a textbook.
2. to-do lists are your friend. a lot of people (including me) really struggle with timetables for studying because it can seem really structured and there is no flexibility or real allowance for things that may crop up during the day (your food takes longer to cook, you have to unexpectedly do a task around the house, you get a really bad headache and need to take a break). in my opinion, to-do lists help solve this problem! you can clearly see the tasks that you want to get done for the day but you don't have stressful time constraints. personally, i always use todoist to keep track of everything. to-do lists also make it easier to break tasks down
3. break the task down. one of the biggest cause of procrastination is having a huge task or project ahead of you because it seems really daunting and where on earth are you even going to start? so break it down *completely*. in your to-do list, don't just write ‘german homework’, write down even task that you need to do within it and be specific: for example ‘pg. 11 ex 4a, 4b and 4c’, ‘textbook listening task on pg. 47′ and ‘250-word essay on social media in Germany’. breaking it down makes the tasks seem more attainable and when you’ve done one and you can cross it off your list, it gives you a boost to keep going
4. eliminate distractions. this is a big one. even if you do all of the above, if you are constantly being distracted by things, you aren't going to get much done. try to find a place that is quiet enough that you can focus and you feel comfortable studying in. as well as this you need to think about what to do with your phone as the likelihood is that this will be the most distracting thing. you can simply turn it off, put on do not disturb, leave it in another room or use and app like forest (that last one is what i use and i don't know where i would be without it!)
5. use incentives. finishing a task is an achievement so treat it like one! before you study, decide on something that you will give yourself as a reward for doing it. this may be watching that new episode of your favourite programme or a tasty snack!
6. set timers. don't just launch yourself into a task, because that again can make it seem daunting and feel unending. rather, set a timer for a specific time because you’ll know that you just need to focus for that specific length of time and then you can go take a break and do something nice. for timing your study sessions, you could use the Pomodoro technique
7. allow for breaks (but try to avoid long ones). you are not a machine and as much as it would be great to be able to, you cant study for hours on end without giving your mind a break from focusing. so schedule in break time for yourself, particularly for times that you know your motivation dips, and do something nice. but be very careful that you don't accidentally slip back into procrastinating habits and keep breaks short. unless you are very disciplined it is unlikely that an hour-long break will stay just an hour.
8. know how you study but don’t be afraid to mix it up. everyone studies differently and so there are going to be some study methods that work better for some than others. so try to make sure that you are studying smart and that you aren't wasting your own time cause that can be incredibly unmotivating. HOWEVER, if there is anything that I’ve learnt from online school its that doing the same task all the time, every day is mind-numbingly boring and you just want to do anything else. so try to switch up what you are doing. if you usually just type notes from the textbook, maybe try doing it in a mindmap one week, or on flashcards, maybe do some practise questions to keep your mind engaged.
9. play music. now this one really depends on the person and how you study. some people need absolute silence and that is fine, but others need something to fill the silence or maybe cover up background noise (for example if you live in a busy household). try to pick music however that is not going to distract you - the key tips for this is to pick music without lyrics. this can be classical music, video game music, or general ‘chill’ music (there are so many playlists out there for chill studying music). i personally listen to Francesco Parrino religiously while studying because he does piano covers of pop songs, so i know the songs and enjoy them but there are no lyrics that can distract me
10. stay hydrated, well-rested and not hungry. this is part of eliminating distractions because if you are thirsty, you are going to be thinking about how you want a drink; if you are tired, you are going to be thinking about how tired you are; if you are hungry, you are going to be thinking about what you want for lunch or whatever. make sure you are hydrated, well-rested and not hungry so you can focus solely on your task or work.
Unconventional Tips
these are some slightly more unusual tips that you might not have seen before but that I've nevertheless found very useful!
1. video yourself or do a timelapse. this is something that I’ve only recently done because i saw a tip on this from someone during my quarantine challenge and thought that it would be cool to do. and it really works! i did it twice once when i was typing notes and a second time when i was handwriting notes and it really made me focus on what is as doing because the video put some pressure on me to look like i was properly studying - i could take a 5-minute break in the middle of my work to mess around with my pen, I just had to keep going so it really forces you to do the work. also watching the video when i was done made me really proud cause i had visual proof of how much i completed!
2. accept that some days you are going to get very little done. this may seem a little bit odd to put on a post that is meant to avoid getting nothing done but it’s actually a very important thing to remember. sometimes you need to take days off because otherwise you are going to burnout and some days you are just not going to be in the right mindset for studying because maybe you are exhausted after a big exam, or you have a headache or you feel unwell. you just need to accept it, draw a line under it, take time for yourself, and resolve yourself to work tomorrow once you feel a bit better. there is no shame in taking time to make sure you stay healthy. if you can, try to get your quickest, easiest task done so you have some sense of accomplishment.
3. ‘churn it out and f**k off’. this was my mum’s motto when she was studying and working in academia. and she recently told it to me when i was getting stressed about all the big tasks during online school. i am a perfectionist and i always want to hand in my very best work, put 100% into everything, but honestly that is impossible. some days you just need to get stuff done and if that isn't your very best then it doesn't matter too much because at least you got it done. and once you get it done you can just forget about it.
4. ask a friend or parent to check up on you. when you are studying by yourself it can be hard to motivate yourself because you know that no ones actually going to check whether you made those votes or did the reading, so ask a friend or someone you live with to check whether you've done the work or get them to read essays. you then get an external reason to study or do your tasks because you need to show them something.
5. rephrase how you think of tasks. when you think that ‘you need to do this task’ or ‘you have to get this done’, a lot of the time this causes unneeded stress and anxiety that is not going to help you at all. also it makes it seem like you are being forced to do something and human beings generally don't act great when they are forced to do something. so try to change your language when thinking about task into one that is more forgiving such as ‘i choose to do this project so that i can go meet my friends tomorrow’ and ‘i choose to read this book now because it will help me in the lecture next week’. this is probably the most difficult strategy on this list and it will take a lot of practice (i am certainly still practising it) but in the long term, it can help you change the way in which you view studying for the better.
✨✨✨
i hope this was helpful and that these tips will be useful, and perhaps you've discovered some new ones! if anyone has anything to add please feel free to reply or reblog with the advice <3

a personal note:
I did not get a n y studying done at all yesterday and I probably won’t get much done today. That’s bc my sleep schedule is insane right now - I was up til 4:30 cleaning my sewing room so I can finally start on commissions. For the record, it’s not my fault that it was a mess - my parents use it as a storage room so all their stuff was encroaching on mine.
I’ve been sleeping when I should be studying because I have to go to my more intense job after this. I think I’ll be able to watch a lecture before I have to leave tho. Since I’m gonna be so tired all day I think I’ll be able to get to sleep as soon as I get home from work - then my sleep schedule will be normal and I’ll be able to do school all day tomorrow.
It’s kind of nice that I have like 5 followers rn so I can keep using this blog for whatever crap like this until I can actually figure out what I’m doing. I do actually have a studying tips post in the works so that’s exciting. I’ve been considering making it a youtube video but I’m not so sure about showing my face.
stu-dna challenge day 26:
what’s the hardest decision you’ve ever had to make?
Letting go. I can’t give a specific instance but I remember there’s been several times in my life when I’ve had to let go of something or of a person or a dream. Especially when I was younger and I was even more confused about my future - I would get it stuck in my head and heart that I wanted to do One Specific Thing as my career for the rest of my life - one of those dreams was being a composer. My mom kept telling me that I wouldn’t make any money and that it wouldn’t work out. I honestly didn’t have any natural talent for it but for some reason I was convinced that I was going to make it and like be the next Hans Zimmer or something.
I actually got the opportunity to try my hand at composing around that time. I was taking some kind of online masterclass in composing (I was in like 6th or 7th or 8th grade and this was designed for adults) (also I’m pretty sure the class was a scam) but my library had a recording studio - so I went in there, having done relatively minimal research on how to use the DAW and having no one to help me. But damn it I locked myself in that room for several hours a week until I had finally managed to kind of make something. If I remember correctly it was like 16 bars? or 8? I just know it wasn’t any longer than 3 minutes. That whole process was one of the hardest things I’ve done - partially because I was tiny and had no skills and no idea what I was doing but also because I was so. freaking. depressed. I think my grandfather who I was super close with had died earlier that year and I was in a really deep depression until November.
But yeah so basically once that whole process was done I was so drained and I had less than no hope - like my hope was in the negative if that’s possible. But I still wanted to be a composer so so badly even though what I had just went through was like the worst thing ever. I remember when I was going through the process of realizing I h a d to give up my dream even though it was the last thing I wanted to let go of.
Looking back on it like, I’m obviously not going to be great at My Future Career TM in 8th grade so I could have just tabled the idea and focused on the present. I think it worked out in the long run tho. I’m happy with my current creative abilities in other mediums. And if I ever want to indulge 8th grade Pineapple I can always go take a basic composing class and try again.
spell studies challenge day 2:
2. Tue. Jan 26: What classes are you taking this semester?
Death and Dying
Technical writing
Trigonometry (I think I’ve been on trig for three years bc I always put math on the back burner. I can’t believe I actually have to finish it. I think I was supposed to be in calc by now)
Personal Finance
Them Bookz™ - idk what to call this but my mom assigns me a different self help/finance/networking book per month. so far I’ve read:
How to Win Friends and Influence People (9/10 - very good advice, pretty easy to understand and super interesting anecdotes. Would recommend to anyone no matter their age or career aspirations.)
Rich Dad Poor Dad (7.5/10 - pretty good but I read most of it all in one night so I don’t remember much of it and it was hard to summarize the main point/points - still has some good advice tho - just read it in a normal amount of time and during waking hours so you can actually understand. Also spoilers: he didn’t actually have two dads who refused to merge their finances despite being partners - the poor dad is his real dad and the rich dad is his friend’s dad)
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People (3/10 - there’s a bit of good advice in the first three habits but don’t waste your time - just look up a summary online. I hate the author. Full post on this book here.)
I know this isn’t a course but all my college apps and scholarship essays take up as much time and effort as 2 or 3 courses so I would like to give myself credit for that
wow another apology:
This was excessively long. I have to figure out a new format

Ambient noise.
Sometimes we just want to listen to something halfheartedly, especially when we are doing other things in our lives; something that isn’t too distracting, that doesn’t require too much attention. As someone who likes to have background noise whenever I’m studying, reading or playing, I have discovered a few “shows” that I like to put on while I do other things. Usually these shows last more than an hour, which is exactly what I want to lessen the amount of time that I have to choose a new show to play. I’m going to be sharing a few of them in this post, maybe someday you will try a few of them as well and have as much of a good time as I do.
1. The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast
This is my most favorite podcast of all time. A lot of prominent figures from different facets of society come to this podcast - which makes this a meaningful cultural experience. Joe Rogan is a skilled podcast interviewer and allows his guests to say whatever their sentiments are, regardless may it be a political dissent or a controversial opinion. Open conversations, debates and disagreements made without disrespect or anger are seen in this podcast, along with a mix of humor. They talk about anything and everything, it’s just a wonderful visit every time I listen. All of these are the reasons why I love this podcast. It’s worth the time.
2. Directors Guild of America Annual Nominees
If you are a cinephile like I am, this one is a gold mine. I love listening to my favorite directors as well as well-renowned ones talk for hours on how they came to fruition with their works. Hearing my admired directors always leave me fascinated and inspired. When Greta Gerwig, Guillermo del Toro, Christopher Nolan, Jordan Peele and Taika Waititi are talking, consider me listening.
3. Film Press
Again, this stems from my love of cinema. There are several press interviews found in YouTube, which includes the channels such as SAG-AFTRA Foundation, New York Times Events (Times Screentimes Talks) and their respective production companies (such as A24). There are several random channels that upload press interviews during film festivals, those are worthwhile to listen to as well (if you are an MCU fan, Comic Con interviews will be highly enjoyable for you). Sometimes these events can get awkward and gawky when the moderator/interviewer is terrible and obviously has not seen/liked the movie, but still, it’s wonderful to hear the director and cast talk about their work of art. Rarely do actors, directors, producers or screenwriters have the avenue to talk about their film on a deeper level, and it’s events like these which gives them the place to.
4. Director, Actors & Author Interviews
Yet again, just to further ignite my love for cinema. I watch several hour long (or more) interviews of them just to hear them talk about their art. Variety (on YouTube) has a wonderful series called “Actors on Actors” where you can hear all these talented actors talk about film-making and acting. The Hollywood Reporter also has a series of “Roundtables” where actors, directors and even executives talk about cinema. For shorter videos, Vanity Fair have “Career Breakdowns” made by the actors themselves as they talk about the several roles they have performed so far. “Scene Breakdowns” are also good ones, where directors talk about scenes in the film they made and it’s mesmerizing how well detailed and thought out these can be.
Book authors have less videos on the internet because they seem to be more elusive (one of my favorite novelists haven’t even revealed her real identity in public). But there are a few ones that are enthralling to watch. I love knowing their insight, inspiration and purpose in regards to their works.
5. Video Essays
I love video essays. Usually they last from fifteen minutes to an hour. I wish I was skilled enough to make one to showcase my analysis on movies, albums or books that I love. My favorites are Nerdwriter1 and Lessons from the Screenplay. It’s intellectually stimulating to understand things that I love on a different level and through the eyes of other people; it makes me love the art even more.
6. Documentaries
I love watching documentaries because I learn so much from them; it’s “EDUtainment”. There are several well-made documentaries on YouTube, whatever your preferred topics might be. I watch anything from historical accounts to petty internet drama. If you prefer high budget documentaries, Netflix offers a variety of them.
7. TED Talks
“Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk” has become an internet meme, but... these talks are truly entertaining to watch. An array of personalities come and talk about their own experiences or opinions about anything under the sun; it’s a fun time. Most importantly, it’s educational.
——-
All these have a common denominator- they keep me learning and educated on several facets of the world. I love learning, and studying. Whatever it may be that you find endearing, I encourage you to study about it; this will make you appreciate and respect the art in a higher regard. Maybe this is how I manifest my love for them, I study about them - even just by listening while wearing my pajamas. :)

Another set of responding to asks lol.. As usual I have them numbered and will also write out the ask in the text, especially since the screencaps are all blurry and taken at various times/compiled together badly and probably hard to read ghghhggh..... answers under the read more ~
-------------------------
1. "Hi I don't mean to bother you at all, but I was wondering where you get your rocking horse shoes? (I think thats what they're called) I've been looking everywhere and I can't seem to find any :(( "
I don’t entirely remember, since I got them like 6 or 7 years ago.. I think maybe at some point that place ‘bodyline’ or something had some cheap ones? But I don’t see them on the site anymore, they were like $50 or $60. Now when I google it I can only find these insane like $600 ones from vivian westwood or whoever, or ones that are platform shoes but not necessarily the same type. Maybe you could find some on aliexpress or ebay or something? Usually you have to use weirdly specific search terms and look for a while, but you can often find stuff like that on those sites. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!!!
2. "I've been sick for over a month and my doctor tested me - everything came back fine. After some discussion it appears that my ptsd symptoms came back and the stress on my body is making me fatigued, sick and dizzy. I don't want to say that this could be similar to you situation, but if you have a therapist or someone to talk to about any stresses/your sickness, it might help relieve the pressure a bit. Good luck, I'm so sorry you feel so unwell"
Thank you for sharing! Yeah, I think stress definitely plays a part in why I feel sick so often. Currently I’m not still having the same problem I was having a few months ago when you sent this, so that’s good at least!!
Tumblr media
3. “Hi! Do you plan to ever have more sculptures for sale? Or would you do commissions? I haven't seen any in a while but wanted to buy one! :-O”
I have plenty that I want to sell, I guess it’s just hard for me to get set up. Since so much of the reason I procrastinate selling stuff is because I hate the stress of deciding on a price, I’ve thought for a while now that maybe I can just auction them (so I just set a base price, but people bid whatever they feel is fair and I don’t have to decide myself). But I’m just not sure of a good way to do that.. Ebay has auctions, but I don’t want random strangers buying them, I’d rather stick to just the pool of people who follow my art blog and are already familiar with my sculptures or etc. I could do them on here ?? (like, ‘reply to this post to bid, bids close 8am EST, whoever said the highest number sends the money through paypal and then I send the sculpture’ sort of thing???)   But I’m not sure if it’s legal to sell stuff through tumblr, or if there could be any other problems with doing it so ‘unofficially’ like that.. I don’t know, I have a vague idea, I’m just having trouble deciding the best way to set up something! I do want to sell some soon though, if I live through the pandemic and anything ever goes back to normal, of course (I wouldn’t want to be having to leave the house to ship stuff in the mail right now).
As for commissions, I have actually done sculpture commissions for friends a few times, so I feel confident-ish that I’d be able to do something like that, but I also wouldn’t want to get overwhelmed since it takes a lot of work. Custom sculptures may also be more expensive, and again.. I always feel guilty and strange about pricing. I’ve thought about doing very limited sculpture commissions though (like, maybe just one at a time, first come first serve or something..?). If it seems like there’s actual interest in that sort of thing, I could definitely consider doing it in the future!
4. " *picks up that smol blue kid and throws them across the room* "
ghgh .. the smallness is an advantage... they could just skitter back down your arm like a tiny squirrel the second you tried to pick them up.. Ythrili survival strategy is to be too small to catch in the first place
Tumblr media
(also forgive every sketch in this post, my screen that you can draw on broke, so I’m either drawing stuff in ms paint with a mouse, or drawing stuff on paper and coloring it in firealpaca also with a mouse ghghh.. not going to look Good)
5. "it sounds like you feel pressure to only post good content on the internet, and so you end up psyching yourself out of posting at all. Am I on the right track? "
Not necessarily, like I mentioned in the tags I think it’s more just that everything is complicated by my brain. I can’t just do something effortlessly. Whether it’s for an audience or not, I get caught up on every little detail and adding so much complexity to everything that all tasks take me longer than they take other people lol. I think I just tend to take everything very seriously??
Like for example, I’m often accused of ‘turning things into a discussion’ when someone was just intending to make an off-handed remark, because if someone is bringing up a topic to discuss, I end up engaging with it 100% and putting full effort into it, and it’s hard for me to be ‘’casual’’ about pretty much anything (so if someone was like ‘My day yesterday was a bit weird’ I wouldn’t be able to just respond ‘aw man, that sucks’, I would just be like ‘Weird how? what happened? what made it weird? Are you okay now? Are things still weird? Have you found a solution?’ etc. etc.). I was also bad at essays/open answer questions in school (despite usually being great at the class otherwise), because no matter how hard I tried to filter my speech and cut things out, I was always far too long-winded  and would get almost too engaged with the topic and lose the clear cut thought organization and focus that you’re supposed to have I guess. Even like, playing video games or something that’s supposed to be relaxing, I can’t just ‘jump into them’ and do whatever, usually any game I play (large ones at least, small 25 minute  point and click adventure games don’t count of course), I have 7 - 10 pages of notes, do hours of research, look up most of the main spoilers, plan out and organize exactly how I’m going to play it and this and that, etc. lol...
So, that personality trait carries over into posting things online as well, I can’t just type something out quickly and hit ‘post’ without a second thought. Social media is hard for me because you’re supposed to use it casually, but I spend a long time re-reading drafted posts, thinking about them, etc. etc., and end up never actually getting around to posting anything. It’s not that I’m perfectionist about it and want it to be ‘good’ or appear a certain way, it’s just that my mind becomes preoccupied with things I guess.  I’m a natural information gatherer, part of my natural way of processing things is to learn everything possible before acting, and I want to make sure I’ve fully thought about everything always, and know as much as I can (so I wouldn’t want to publicly say something without giving it a lot of consideration first, or post a picture without really thinking about if I want to post it, what my reasons behind posting it are (like if I’m posting something just for a validation of a certain aspect of myself VS. genuinely because I like it, etc.), if a few months from now I’ll still like that I posted it, etc. lol.. even with like silly cat photos or something, I have to analyze it and be like ‘hmm.. will I still stand by this picture in 4 months? why am I posting it publicly vs, just keeping it privately to myself on my computer? what’s important about it?’ etc. etc. ghgjhgjh.. like.. shut up lol.)
ANYWAY, yeah, I don’t know if it’s about wanting online content to be “good”, as much as it’s just like... I take everything way too seriously and am detail-oriented, contemplative, and analytical to a fault, which means it just takes me 10x longer to do basic ‘’simple’’ things that it would for other people. Though I can still be quite quick-thinking and decisive (I don’t often waver back and forth between things too long), it’s usually because I have years of thinking about the same exact things behind me, so I already am very clear on my opinions on stuff, to a point. But when it’s new things I’m less familiar with (like playing a new game, or posting regularly online), I’m still in a phase where I guess I have to give it a lot of thought. I just process things in a different way than other people I guess? Or have some inherent inability to be brief/concise/careless? If you’ve ever read any of my worldbuilding posts (where I usually start off wanting to explain one thing but then have to derail into 400 other misc. details and explanations and it ends up being a novel), then maybe it’s more evident what I mean, where it’s just like... my natural manner of speaking is Too Much.. I guess? Even this answer is winding and rambly, and I feel like other people could have answered this ask in only a few sentences lol..
 If any of that makes sense? I don’t know how to describe how I am lol.. I just know it's hard to me to use social media in this ~~casual effortless~~ way most people seem to, since my brain is just inherently incapable of anything ‘’casual’’ or ‘’effortless’’ lol..  T u T ;;
6. " Hi! I hope this isn't weird to say, I'm designing a race for my DND campaign and some of the aesthetics are a little bit inspired by some of your costumes and makeup designs. You're awesome and your art is awesome so thanks : ) "
Thanks so much, I appreciate it! It’s always cool to hear I can inspire people~
(I usually don’t include many compliments in these ask compilation posts, but I always try to include a few, just to let people know that even if I don’t respond to all of them I do see them, and appreciate it!)
7.  ???
I ended up cropping out this ask and not answering because some of the content was questionable (the reason WHY/how they wanted to make the character) in a way that I didn’t feel like getting into a long thing about, but part of it was relevant to making OCs in my world, so I will just make a quick comment:
I do state that this is a closed world, so I don’t want anyone making OCs of my species or etc. at least not at this point. Once my game is finished (if ever lol), or I write a few books or something, then I feel it would be understandable if people like, made up a background story for their player character and thus maybe could have some form of OC in my world and etc.. So I may be more relaxed on this in the future as I create content that people naturally would want to engage with , but for now, I’m still a very tiny creator with a closed world and it just doesn’t feel the same as like.. making an oc based on some thing in a big TV series or something. My worldbuliding and etc. is still very personal to me. Unless we’re directly collaborating on things (like mentioned here (link) a bit), or you’re a personal friend of mine who’s gotten involved in the world with my own guidance (meaning I could tell you lore things you’d need to know to make it accurate, etc.), then I don’t feel it’s appropriate for strangers to do at this point.
Especially since I don’t even have enough world info out for people to be able to reference (most species have half-complete guides, I’ve only ever talked about like, one continent, etc.). There are so many necessary details which I have only in my head and have never typed out, so again, idk, it’d just be weird. I’m not okay with it until I have a lot more lore published, and maybe a few actual works out there that people can reference/stories/games/basis for OCs to exist in the first place. If that makes sense?
8. "Hey, is it ok to use your outfit posts as inspiration for a dnd character? I love them so much, you have such a unique way of combining crazy patterns and fabrics into something that gives off a good vibe”
Yes, that would be fine! Thank you for asking, and I appreciate the compliments~ Hopefully I can get back to posting that sort of thing more often lol.. I’ve gotten WAY off my routine and haven’t done many outfits lately.. aaa

9. "hi Luca! i just wanted to say i really love all of your costumes and fashions and dress ups, its all so cool and pretty and interesting. i actually wanna dress up for fun for myself, and now that i know about the bins i think i'll try to convince my mom to take me to similar places for cheap clothing pieces, since my mom is worried about how much all this costume stuff costs. anyway, please keep posting your cool and beautiful stuff! "
Thank you so much! I wish you luck with your costumes! Yeah, I think there’s a common idea in a lot of fashion communities (like with makeup, costumes, etc.) that you have to always have high quality things to look nice, and even if sometimes you can do more with a little extra money, really you can make anything look good with what you have if you just combine it right. As I’ve always been quite low income, being into fashion and stuff has be discouraging at times, that I couldn’t afford certain materials or items, but you just have to find a niche where what you’re able to do works. For example, a lot of even ‘cheap’ lolita style clothings are too expensive for me (like $30 - $50 for a dress??? then the more pricey ones can be over $100???) lol.. BUT, then stuff like mori kei, cult party kei, fantasy costumes, etc. you can do with nearly any fabric you can find, and it’s still just as fun and creative. Most of the outfits I take pictures of probably cost me no more than $1 - $10 for every single item combined. Obviously it depends on location - I have better access now that I live near a place like the bins, which I understand there may not be similar resources in small towns or etc. But even with generic thrift stores (which may not be as cheap as the bins), you can still find pretty good alternatives to all the money it costs to buy things brand new. There’s still some stuff I legit just can’t do because I don’t have access to the materials, but for the most part I can manage everything I’d like with $3 eye-shadows and 15 cent tattered curtain fabrics lol. You can still do really cool stuff on a pretty nonexistent budget!
10. “do you have any tips on growing your hair long? is it expensive to up keep? i wanna grow mine out but it grows so slow!”
Well, I know nothing about hair and am not a hair stylist or etc. so I really don’t have any tips lol??  And I think hair maintenance depends a lot on the type of hair you have, not everyone’s is the same. I assume we must have similar hair  (my natural hair is thick kind of coarse very dark brown/black hair, which is a bit wavy in some parts but mostly straight, but most of my hair currently (aside from the overgrown roots at the top) is altered because of damage from bleaching and etc., it’s more brittle. so that’s what I’ll be referencing) if you’re asking me this instead of someone else, but just know that whatever I say may not apply to you.
Anyway, I really don’t do anything to my hair to make it grow or etc., it’s just that I’ve gone a long time without cutting it lol. I used to cut it all the time or change styles, and now I’ve kind of just left it for 5 or 6 years or so. Because of my mental illness I have trouble maintaining personal care and etc., so I do sometimes go a week or more without washing it, even though I’m trying to work that into my schedule more (luckily I don’t have stinky head, I’ve heard some people’s scalp oils and stuff can smell weird if left for too long, I have the privilege of being able to like.. skip on hygiene a lot without it severely impacting my ability to do things or etc. since it’s usually not obvious if I haven’t bathed in a week or two).
My cat also EATS HUMAN HAIR for some reason, so I have to keep it up all the time, so that when I shed it doesn’t actually just fall loose onto the ground lol. Literally all I do to my hair is just keep it in two braids at all times and wash it with normal shampoo and conditioner occasionally, when I can. I really only think it’s gotten long because I’ve been leaving it alone and not messing with it, not really because of anything I’ve done (like I don’t use fancy products on it or etc.) And because of that, no, it’s not really expensive! It absolutely WOULD be if I were like..a normal functioning person and I regularly bleached it and dyed it and put products on it and styled it and used shampoo and conditioner every 1-3 days on it and etc. lol.. But I guess because I don’t do anything to it to maintain it, I’m not spending money on hairspray or dye or shampoo or etc.  I used to bleach it a lot and straighten it and use hairspray and stuff on it, and it seems healthier (at least on the new top parts) now that I’m just ... ignoring it basically lol. But I don’t really know what to do to make it grow faster! I’m bad at self-care, and even if I do costumes and stuff, I really am not into beauty and hair and nails and makeup and stuff, so I’m probably the wrong person to ask hghjhb.. My upkeep routine is just... eat and sleep. wash face with water daily.. do extra stuff if you can manage to despite your functioning issues, etc. I’m definitely not a Beauty Advice person, I barely brush my hair even once a week lol
11. "Maybe you should reduce the number of races if it's too overwhelming? A world can still be immersive with only a few races in it."
(sidenote - Not to be nitpicky, but I make a specific point that the groups of fantasy creatures I create are species, not ‘’races’’, even though it is a commonly used term in fantasy worldbuilding, I think it’s inaccurate/weird )
I know I don’t have to make so many different groups, but, I guess I just really want it to be a broad setting. Part of the point in creating Nanyevimi (aside from worldbuilding just being extremely fun and a hobby greatly suited to someone with my personality traits lol) is to have an established world that I can do anything within, a framework already built where it'd be super easy to just drop a character anywhere on the map and already have an idea of what their culture, background, experiences, etc. would be based on pre-existing details about that portion of the world, etc. But I also want it to be broad, and varied, where every area kind of has it’s own dynamics going on there, so if you’re in a different place, you get a different kind of story. (like in an elven alliance city, you’d be better suited to tell an adventure story centering around complicated local politics, or city life, or etc.. whereas out in some isolated mountains in the south, it’d be more suited for a mystery story about stumbling across ancient ruins, or running into a mysterious traveler, etc.)
Which I guess doesn’t matter much, since I'm better at setting, world design, character design, planning, and details than I am at plot, so  I probably won’t actually ever do anything with it (god forbid I tried to write a book or something with my utter inability to be concise/brief in any imaginable way). I can craft settings/characters/history/world-details all day endlessly, never losing inspiration or etc, but my weak point is actually telling stories within those settings and formulating a solid plan, organizing plot structures long term and etc.. Setting up everything for something to happen/creating a place where many interesting premises could occur is fine, but then actually thinking of how those things should OCCUR, or how the set up should play out, is where I get kind of lost. I guess the ideal at some point would be to have people working with me, helping when writing stories in my world/outlining games/etc, to add more cohesion/structure and reign in the unfocused stream of ideas,  but that’s very unlikely since I don’t have any close friends that are good at organizing or plotting either, etc. BUT anyway, even if I can’t ever manage to do anything with it, the whole “having a setting I can use for anything I want if anything ever comes up, which is already established and thus makes it much easier to formulate ideas because all the background work is already done for myself” thing is at least a nice goal.. in concept...theoretically lol..
And, it’s not really too overwhelming, I think the overwhelming part is actually just formatting and producing those ideas in a consumable form. It’s not hard for me to keep track of 20 different groups and make backgrounds and every imaginable detail for them, but it IS hard to actually take all that information that exists in my head, type it out as a worldbuilding post, format and organize it, draw pictures to go with it, etc. If I could just post long stream of consciousness style 300,000 word long posts with no paragraph breaks, 4000 typos, barely any punctuation, etc., then I’d have A LOT more world-building info publicly available (since that’s what all the initial documents on my computer look like lol), but that’s just so inaccessible it’d be pointless to have public in the first place. The hard part isn’t really coming up with or managing the information, it’s just... organizing it all, and finding a way to share it.
Tumblr media
12. "oh PLEASE tell me what boing peach beverage the elf looks like"
a quick sketch of them.. mysterious peach (and other produce) salesman
Tumblr media
13. "fun question: what are ur fashion pet-peeves?"
Well, basically none because I hate when people are rigid over Fashion Rules or etc. Like, people who take pictures of others in public because they “look weird” , or who constantly trash on what people are allowed to wear, what patterns can be mixed with others, etc. etc. I get that some stuff can look kind of bad sometimes, and it’s not that I think nobody is allowed to criticize fashion trends or etc. (especially if they’re legitimately problematic, like of course someone wearing a homophobic t-shirt or doing blackface should be criticized), but I mean just like... that sort of trivial bitter criticism that doesn’t do anything but make people feel bad about the way they look or make them afraid to dress in ways they feel comfortable. Like taking a picture of someone and posting it online to make fun of them because they wore socks with sandals, or bullying 14 year olds who just started doing makeup and haven’t totally gotten their look sorted out yet, etc. etc. (ESPECIALLY since this can often intersect with classism, racism, etc. if you really examine what people mock as 'ugly' or 'unacceptable' styles, it's often stuff like men wearing dresses/makeup, women not shaving, clothing associated with poverty (like wearing “”cheap”” clothes), physical traits commonly associated with poc, making fun of people who look a certain way likely due to mental illness (like fidgeting, dirty mismatched clothing, carrying stuffed animals or comfort items in public etc.), etc. etc.
I find costumes and makeup and outfits to be a very cool and fun way to express myself. So when people are complete freaks about it and set out to just relentlessly make others feel bad for no good reason, it’s like... obnoxious... How can you take something with so much potential and limit it and close others off and turn it into this rigid hateful thing, when it should be something that everyone is able to be passionate about and appreciate?? Outside appearance isn't everything, but it's a tool of expression for so many people and can relate to who they are as a person, people should never feel uncomfortable to be who they are or look how they look just because some dumbass rich person writing for a style magazine has the gall to declare some random thing to be 'Unfashionable' despite not having a genuinely creative bone in their body, or some bigot thinks that certain things are ‘ugly’ or ‘unprofessional’ due to their own mental associations, etc.
But anyway, I guess if I had to choose a few things that I just think look kind of odd to me personally/are generally off-putting...
--- the overdrawing lips thing when you can see the persons actual lip-line and it almost looks like they have two mouths or something? (if not done intentionally for costume makeup). It can look a little strange to me sometimes, like an optical illusion where you see multiple mouth lines at once?? idk like this?
Tumblr media
--- freckles that are just round circles and really heavy and don’t look realistic (though again, I also realize this could just be the person’s first time drawing them on or something and I’m not  mocking for lack of skill, etc. I just mean that it’s a little strange to look at, not actually BAD though) (and it can also be intentional, like for a cartoony costume look) ---- People adopting cutesy/childlike fashion and clothing and sexualizing it or using it as part of their sex/kink stuff.. I just feel like anything associated with children should not be sexualized..? If the first thing someone thinks when seeing children's school uniforms or frilly little girl’s doll dresses or whatever is that it could be a Hot Thing then hhh... like why is your brain making those connections lol.. People can dress how they want for whatever reasons they want, but that’s always personally creeped me out a little. Similar to our culture’s obsession with looking young being ‘hot’ (like a grown man wanting someone who’s a legal adult but still “looks 16″ or etc.), where it’s like.. okay, I guess yeah outwardly you can make that choice, and maybe aren’t directly causing harm, but.. the underlying tones of it and etc. still make it very unsettling to witness lol... ---- anything appropriated obviously, as well as fetishization or bastardization of cultures, like t-shirts with Japanese writing on them Just For Aesthetic, or taking certain culturally or religiously significant symbols or etc. and adopting them as ‘just a silly fashion’ thing when you’re actually being disrespectful, etc.  ---- those shorts or whatever that go up extremely high on the hipbones always look a little weird to me lol, like they give a person funny proportions,
Tumblr media
(you may have to right click open image in new window and zoom to see the text, but it’s like.. the blank space makes it look kind of weird to me? Like there’s too much where there’s just nothing going on? idk. That’s just my personal preference though, obviously I tend to lean towards busy designs lol)
That’s all I can think of though, like I said, I’m really not picky or judgy about fashion since I think people should be able to do whatever they want for the most part. I’m not like a “omg stripes should NEVER be worn with plaid!!” type person or something lol.
14. "Hey Luca! I love when you post about your world. Do you have a favorite species you've made up so far? Also, I hope you're holding up well during the crisis!"
AAaa thanks! I’m okay mostly. It’s distressing since because of my particular mental illness I already have constant paranoia and obsessions about health, so of course hearing about so much illness can be really triggering constantly and I’m preoccupied in never-ending anxiety spirals about mortality and etc. etc. etc. , but situationally, I’m just very thankful that nobody in my household has gotten sick yet and I desperately wish that will continue to be the case. *** *** ***
(ignore the *** *** *** , this is a text version of a physical compulsion (a hand movement) that I have to do when I mention certain topics lol.. the little man in my brain that controls my obsessive compulsive disorder says I must do certain things after saying or thinking certain things,, You Know How It Is )
And I really love worldbuilding questions, so thank you so much!!!!! Hghgh maybe it seems weird to favor any over the others, but of course I really like the Avirre'thel. Conceptually, I think their origin story and connection to ancient elves and their abilities and etc. put them in a really unique position in the broader world (some of the only truly immortal people to exist, the only people who can still decipher ancient elven texts in a way that makes sense, etc. etc.). Since Nanyevimi (my world) is really just a setting being built so that in the future I can set things within it (games, short stories, etc.), I think I'm drawn to the aspects of it that have the most potential to make interesting characters, and there are definitely a lot of pre-established dynamics with the Avirre'thel/in Navyete (their home country) as a whole that would make it an good place to set certain things, or a good group for a main character to be from, etc.
I do really like the Jhevona as a species overall too, even if I haven't developed them as much, they also kind of stand out as having some fairly unique features that put them in an interesting position in the world (being one of the most magically capable groups that exists but that also having downsides (health issues and infertility from magic exposure, etc.), how the necessity to keep control over their magic influences their culture, being some of the only natural shape-shifters, etc.). Within that, I REALLY love the Thastanri (a subspecies of Jhevona), like their connection to dreams, the Imkasyn, being one of the last few peoples in contact with real dragons, etc. etc. There are a lot of complex things going on in their area, so there’d be a lot of potential to tell a variety of stories or have interesting characters from that group.
AND, though it's supposed to be Unknown in the world so I won't talk about it just in case I ever write a book one day or something and need to preserve at least a FEW mysteries that I don't just outright explain in worldbuilding posts, Jhevona do have the most interesting origins of any species in my opinion. There are some things from before the timeline break sort of thing (where all recorded history was seemingly wiped and everyone had a big memory loss about 50,000 yrs ago) that people aren't aware of anymore... but Jhevona used to have a cool backstory and quite interesting function in society prior to that. There are some remnants in the genetics of the species and how their magic works (at least for certain groups) that kind of hint at how ancient Jhevona used to look and what they used to do, even though in the modern day things are very different.
15. "Top 10 songs you've been listening to lately?"
I don’t have a top 10 since I listen to everything for different reasons, and don’t have as deep a relationship with music the way some people do (like I don’t really have a favorite band or group I have a connection with that’s “gotten me through hard times”, or music I cry to/any songs that are specifically personally emotionally meaningful to me, etc., etc.), but here’s a quick playlist of a few favorite-ish things I’ve had in my head a lot recently -
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPmQ4SZdFFHNkgKo7nAiEMgVvLcycX5Qc
the last song on the list specifically I’ve been replaying a lot for some reason, I guess since it’s good background music as there’s no words. Particularly the part that starts around like 38 seconds in, something about that melody reminds me of something distant, in a dreamlike way. The past few days I mostly alternate between that song, Outstanding, and And The Beat Goes On  lol
16. " Do you ever sell sculptures? I really like that little fawn!"
Yeah, I hope to eventually! Like I mentioned in question number three, if I can set up some sort of way to do auctions or etc, then maybe I can sell that one!
17 & 18 : '"aaa yay!! i missed your outfits!!!" / "can I just say love ur outfits! They're so cool and inspire me to draw my ocs with new outfits > o < and I love your cat too, please give him a big ol pat!"
Thank you!!!! more compliments posted just to show I appreciate them lol, even if I don’t publicly respond to every one~ And, the Boyes appreciate the pats.. here is them.. big babbeys...

What types of blogs would they have?
BEN Drowned
Ben has zero interest in blogging or putting any actual effort into his tumblr - so his blog is pretty much default with a randomly generated username, the type that gets confused for a pornbot more often than not. He saves posts by liking them, never reblogs and follows exactly 0 people.
Not many expect this since he's the most tech savvy individual in the whole house, but social media is just another tool of stalking and spying his targets. He has no use for it, personally.
When Ben browses tumblr, it's to scroll into hell itself, looking for anything that might entertain him. If coerced into making a decent blog, it would be an aesthetic one - he'd reblog what you'd expect : retro and videogame aesthetics, neon signs, cryptic messages and, of course, dumb memes. He wouldn't get many followers due to his inactivity but he would often stalk the rest of Pastas, sometimes even pranking them by acting as an actual pornblog.
Jeff the Killer
Hands down, Jeff is definitely a tumblr addict. It's way more interesting and more anonymous than both Facebook & Twitter. He has a lot of side blogs for different things, all of them quite organized which contrasts his usually messy lifestyle. There's a personal one for complaining, venting and reblogging whatever he finds funny, another exclusively for aesthetics (lots of red/black or monochromatic palettes, weapons, blood and bruises, typically edgy things), a porn sideblog, a selfie blog and a blog to research on crimes and killing methods under the pretense of being a writer/journalist.
Because he's mostly outside and has to use the godforsaken app, Jeff is that type of person who'd keep reblogging the wrong things in the wrong blog, which is the reason of all of his constant angry posts ( “fUFCK, DID IT AGAIN” ). He'd have a decent amount of followers, but gets 0 asks cause his whole blog aura intimidates people. His porn/kink blog though, is full of thirsty anons. Blocked by Jane.
Eyeless Jack
He's the type of person who had an idea of what tumblr was, but never got around to making a blog until much later. EJ's blog would be extremely basic and he'd only use it as a journal, to talk about his day, methods of killing, medicine etc. Of course, people wouldn't take it seriously because well, it's Tumblr and everyone would most likely confuse him for either a hardcore RPer, an actual doctor or a writer. He does partake in the scientific side of tumblr and sometimes gets curious anons, but he's not interested in answering them at all.
Only uses Tumblr for like 20 minutes a day, but unlike Ben, he’s constant. EJ tries to avoid the memey side of Tumblr, though. All the bass boosted songs, eye-straining shitposts and other fandom related memes just hurt his head. Mutuals with Jeff and Jane, has a pretty decent tagging system.
Jane the killer
Similar to Jeff, she also has multiple blogs but not as many as him. Her main is by far the most popular, since she's in touch with her followers, she's active in the LGTB+ community and gives extremely good fashion and make up advice. Has to constantly close her ask box because of all the anons she gets (mostly good anons, sometimes horrible ones). Jane ignores anon hate and she's the only one who tags common triggers. She might be nice, but Jane can also be extremely savage if needed. Her witty remarks are part of why she's so popular. That or her posts about her girlfriend.
Her secondary blog is a venting one and is kept separate from her main, so it's not known. There she complains about her day and sometimes reminisces about her life. Her posts are either three, two phrases or extensive essays of just rambling, all under a cut, there is no inbetween. She vagues about her fellow Pastas a lot. Has all of Jeff's blogs blocked.
Clockwork
Natalie would blog like any other teenager, reblogging 50 things in the span of 5 minutes before disappearing for hours and maybe days. She'd choose Instagram over Tumblr anyday, but keeps her blog just in case and posts some of her own art (mostly doodles) every once in a blue moon.
You know those people who start to question their heterosexuality once they learn more about orientations on the internet ? That's Clockwork, currently questioning being bisexual - she would never admit it, but she has reached out to Jane's blog anonymously for some advice in this matter.
Clockwork is the type to send anon hate, but freak out and lash out if she ever got any hate herself. This is why anon is off in her ask. If you got something to say to her, do it on public you coward. Mutuals with Jane, Toby and Sally, she often tags them in things that remind her of them.
Sally
Sally got a tumblr blog because Ben had one, but it was Jane who taught her the basics of using the site while Jeff, the self-proclaimed aesthetic king, helped her choose a theme. Needless to say, Sally's interest in having her own blog lasted for a day or so. As the youngest, she really has no interest or reason to lurk on social media in general.
The rest, however, show her all the cute animal videos they find.
If she were to take time on fixing her blog, it would be without doubt the cutest safe space and she'd try to imitate Jane. Sally would be extremely happy, finding out about Gudetama, Kumamon, Aggretsuko and etc through Tumblr. The rest would ask her many questions on anon just to see what she'd answer (“Who is your favorite Creepypasta?”, “What do you think of X?”, “What's the powerhouse of the cell?” etc)

It’s the end of the year, know what that means? It’s time for my second annual “Nobody Cares” Awards! Click the post if you’re super bored and have nothing better to do!
So.... 2017′s been a year, huh? Personally, it hasn’t been as bad as 2016 for me, but it was definitely.... A different kind of shitty, I guess. But hey! There were a lot of games that came out this year; many of which were really damn good. I’ve sorta been enjoying the whole mass writing thing, so I plan on this being more writing than last time. Get ready for my 9 paragraph essay on why I think Nier: Automata was the most overrated game of the year! (Just kidding, I would never make you suffer through that. God forbid I anger that fanbase.) I also tried coming up with different categories, so I don’t end up completely ripping off Giant Bomb (at least at the time of writing I haven’t, for all I know they could have the same categories as me and I’ll eat my words). That said, Best Music will always stay, without question. Now let’s start the show!
Best Title Screen
Persona 5
Tumblr media
Atlus are geniuses. They kept churning out Persona 4 remakes, adaptions, and spinoffs like there was no tomorrow. It went so far that many people, including myself, were convinced Atlus was focused entirely on milking this cow. A few teasers came and went, and my thoughts of 5 just being “Persona 4: 2″ had not waned one bit. Then they showed the first real trailer. The trailer that would end up being the games opening music video. It was at that point that I realized “Oh wait, I actually had no reason to doubt them at all.” Everything about that trailer showed me the error of my ways, and convinced me that Persona had not lost its’ edge one bit. The game simply oozes style and creativity, and I believe the title screen to Persona 5 is a perfect representation of that style. I have more to say about this game later on in the Top 10, but I’ll say for now that the opening movie and the title screen give off an amazing first impression.
Runners Up:
Nidhogg 2
Sonic Mania
Best Game To Watch
Yakuza 0
Tumblr media
I’m not a big fan of Beat-Em-Ups, Brawlers, Hack-N-Slash, Character Action Games, whatever you want to call them. I often find them repetitive and kinda boring. I’m not saying they’re bad or anything, I can totally see why people enjoy them. They’re just not for me. That’s one of the lesser reasons I believe Nier: Automata was one of the most overrated games of this year. My point is, I never got into the Yakuza series for that reason. A couple of my friends would tell me the ridiculous or silly things that happened in the games, and I was interested, but never enough to actually give one enough of a shot. When Yakuza 0 came out, I remember seeing it on a Giant Bomb Unprofessional Fridays, where Mary Kish played the first 45 minutes or so, including a karaoke song. That’s when I got hooked. I knew that Yakuza had a ton of weird sidequests, and over the top action, but I never knew that it also had legitimately good drama. I was fascinated by how good the cutscenes were. A little while later, Giant Bomb East did a playthrough of the whole game, and I watched every second. The quirkyness of the series is obviously a big selling point, but the amazingly well done cutscenes were what tipped me over into becoming a Yakuza fan. That being said, if I had to play the entire game on my own, I don’t think I would have finished it.
Runners Up:
Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds
My Summer Car
Best Music
Pyre
Tumblr media
This one’s a surprise. I went into 2017, and got a lot of the way through 2017, thinking there would be no way Persona 5 wouldn’t have the best soundtrack of the year. Pyre’s soundtrack is really great. Darren Korb has a knack for making fantastic music, but the real reason I ended up liking Pyre’s OST more isn’t just because the songs are good, but also because of how they’re implemented. The game is structured mostly like a visual novel, with character portraits standing over their dialogue box when they talk. Depending on the character currently speaking, the instrumentation goes through very slight changes. If a larger character starts talking, the drums and/or bass become more prominent. If a more calm or quiet character starts talking, the song goes into a more acoustic arrangement, so on and so forth. Also, there’s a thrash metal song that is hype as fuck. That being said, while it’s not in the runners up, SteamWorld Dig 2 has the best music track of the year.
Runners Up:
Persona 5
Sonic Mania
Best Hand Drawn Animation
Cuphead
Tumblr media
Here’s a trend I hope keeps up. It seems like this year brought more hand drawn games than years past, many of which look spectacular. Cuphead was first shown in.... 2014 I believe? It was just a random clip in an Xbox One Indie games compilation shown off at Gamescom, and it made a huge impression from just a couple seconds. The animation quality is flawless, and the attention to detail is extremely deep. They replicate that 1930′s cartoon style perfectly, on their very first shot.
Runners Up:
Sundered
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap
Best Bat-Wielding Motherfucker
Goro Majima (Yakuza 0)
Tumblr media
What else needs to be said? There’s almost nothing more fun than smashing the shit out of things with a baseball bat. Granted, Majima doesn’t smash a lot of things, but more often people; luckily, I never was one for semantics!
Runner’s Up:
Mae Borowski (Night in the Woods)
Chloe Price (Life is Strange: Before the Storm)
Coming Soon
Tumblr media
Listen, Iconoclasts is coming out in less than a month. That’s reason enough to be excited for 2018. On top of that, we have Dragon Ball FighterZ, Griftlands, Ni No Kuni II, Full Metal Furies, Wonder Wickets, and maybe Crackdown 3 also coming in the first quarter. However, there’s not a ton of 100% confirmed 2018 releases. Games like Valkyria Chronicles 4, Wargroove, Megaman 11, Indivisible, UFO 50, and mother fucking Spelunky 2 are all games that are allegedly coming out next year, but I have a feeling most of those will end up pushed back. Also, I can’t wait to see the glorious train wreck that will inevitably be Detroit: Become Human.
And maybe Mother 4 (name pending) will come out this year? Probably not. But here’s hoping!
And now.... The Top 10!
#10: What Remains of Edith Finch
Tumblr media
I’ll cut straight to the point: Edith Finch is my favorite walking simulator (or as some might call it, stroll-playing game) I’ve ever played. Perhaps I’m a bit biased, as my personal favorite movie is Big Fish, which was definitely a source of inspiration for this game. I will say, however. that Edith Finch’s ending is nowhere near as good as Big Fish’s.
#9: Pyre
Tumblr media
#8: Gorogoa
Tumblr media
#7: Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
Tumblr media
You know what I love? The combat in XCOM. You know what I hate? All of the base building garbage in XCOM. Mario + Rabbids puts a few interesting spins on XCOM’s combat, while also removing all of the boring bullshit in between. While there are several issues I have with the game, like not being able to take Mario out of the party, overall Ubisoft did a very good job creating this very... bizarre crossover. Disclaimer: I do not, nor have I ever had a hatred for Rabbids. I think they’re fine. In fact, if I had a source of income when I was 16 and Rayman Raving Rabbids came out, I would probably own a piece of Rabbid merchandise right now.
#6: Sonic Mania
Tumblr media
Sonic Mania is pure fan-service, and I am a fan. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot when Mania was originally announced. As you know, Sonic hasn’t had the... Best reputation. Especially when they say they’re going back to his roots, Sega always manages to screw up one way or another. I’m not even that big a fan of Sonic Colors! So while I was into the way the game looked, I was still very skeptical. The more I learned about the game, however, the more interested I became. Finding out Christian Whitehead was front running the development, Tee Lopes providing the music, and seeing posts from people pointing out little in-jokes and references from the original trailer, all of this made me more and more excited. I figured even if the game wasn’t that fun, it would still be worth it to see all the little details they added to it. I got the game, loaded it up, and the intro began playing. I got shivers all over from the pure joy of that opening cutscene. Maybe this will actually be good? Shortly after, I got to the first Special Stage, where everything went all 3d. Okay, this game is kinda good. I played it a little more, and found myself in a boss fight where I had to play a round of Puyo Puyo against Dr. Robotnik. This game is amazing. While the Puyo fight was definitely the highlight of my excitement, but the rest of it didn’t fall off too far. Sonic Mania is an experience that I don’t think can be recaptured; a sequel would be fun, but I really doubt it could affect me the same way this game did.
#5: Horizon Zero Dawn
Tumblr media
#4:  Persona 5
Tumblr media
Persona 5 had the potential to be my game of the year. The aesthetics, style, music, color schemes, story revolving around punks and rebellion, creating a group of master thieves, and potentially off heists are all things that very much resonate with me. So what happened? What caused this game that should have turned into an all time favorite end up being a “I guess 4 is a good enough spot”? First of all, too many of the game’s segments go on for way too long. The dungeon designs are poor, with uninteresting puzzles that get extremely repetitive. Unlike Persona 3 and 4, however, this game does not get the excuse of randomly generated rooms as an excuse (despite how bad an excuse that may be.) Most of the later dungeons just straight up drag near the end, with a couple of them not having save areas for oddly long stretches of time. It felt like they just needlessly extended the dungeons to double the length of what should have been a 30-40 hour JRPG. I thought the characters overall were interesting enough, but their confidant links felt kind of same-y. The story didn’t feel nearly as important as in the previous games, and the big twists were either confusing, full of plot holes, or needed a half hour for the game to explain itself to you. But, at the end of the day, it’s still a Persona game. It may not be the best Persona game, in fact I would probably say it’s the fourth best (behind 3, 2, and of course 4) but overall Persona 5 managed to deliver an enjoyable experience.
#3: SteamWorld Dig 2
Tumblr media
#2: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Tumblr media
#1: Super Mario Odyssey
Tumblr media
I’ve been trying for weeks to write up a big thing about why I love Super Mario Odyssey so much. And really, there’s not a whole lot to it. It is a joyous game. My entire time spent with it was fun, and I constantly had a smile on my face. Much like the intro to Sonic Mania, the Festival segment of Odyssey also gave me shivers from how happy it made me feel. And really, isn’t that what we need most in 2017? The biggest gripe I have about this game is that there isn’t enough of it. I would have liked to see a few more worlds, or have a bit more variety so there’s not, say, two water levels or two jungle levels. Which is a much better problem to have than with Persona 5, where I thought there was too much of that game. Hell, I played a lot more of it after the end credits, which is something I very rarely ever do. Overall, Odyssey is a splendid game that excels in almost everything it does, and makes the exploration of each world something I actively want to do. Odyssey, ya see?
Hey, hi! You made it to the bottom! If you read all that, or even a little of it, then you have my appreciation! Hell, even managing to scroll past all that to get down here deserves a pat on the back in and of itself. Well, that just about wraps up my pointless little awards ceremony. Due to the influx of big important games to play, plus some personal issues that ate up too much of my time, I didn’t make much progress in beating Kingdom Hearts II.8, or the Zelda games I missed out on. Oh well, there’s always next year? There’s always a next year. Even after humanity collapses in on itself (soon-ish?), there will always be a next year.Hope you all had a good holiday, and have a better 2018! Toodles!

The prison within your mind is not worth taking your life.
The demons within your mind, it’s not worth taking your life.
The demons within your mind, it’s not worth taking your life. Taking your own life isn’t your only option.
Taking your own life isn’t your only option. The prison within your mind can be deep, and sometimes those feelings can be so overwhelming the thought of committing suicide becomes an option, and some take that path.
When you’re in high school, you make all sorts of friends, date different boys, feel a slew of emotions and most importantly, do stupid shit with your crew.
Think about it, wasn’t there something either presently or in your past that you still remember, humorously telling your kids or friends about the memory?
There’s no doubt, we all have a story and that’s good, that’s how it should be when you’re young because you learn from each of those situations. In fact, it’s the absolute same for those “celebrities,” that you look up too for strength.
The most famous celebrities in the world have also faced, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorders, disease and more because our trials do not discriminate.
In fact, let’s take a look at Robin Williams. Isn’t it true that when he passed, it impacted the world in a huge way?
Robin Williams widow Susan Schneider writes essay about his final months.
Unfortunately, growing up can be incredibly hard for some who are bullied, but you can fight back, all while not stooping to their level.
Sadly, many have been bullied. Sadly, it even happens years after graduation in the work-place, with brand new people, like a horrible cycle.
The prison within your mind can be deep, and sometimes those feelings can be so overwhelming the thought of committing suicide becomes an option, and some take that path. Taking your own life isn’t your only option.
The world will never stop turning regardless of what has been coming your way, good and bad.
All the rivers keep flowing, and the world keeps turning.
I used to have a best friend, now I don’t. How it made me a better person!
Even after 13 Reasons Why, suicides, and sad stories in the media. Bullies still take the halls, and we still keep losing the ones we love.
As someone who has faced some pretty f*cked up times, my emotional mindset sometimes dark, one that tends to linger is our reality.
We lost so many people to suicide, including talent, those we see as our favorite “celebrities,” although, I feel we are all celebrities.
If you visit “Faces of Suicide,” and read the loving stories about their loved ones, I’m going to say it once, as my aunt left this world by suicide.

It’s a sad truth, and this happens every day. In fact, the National Institute of Mental Health shared insightful statistics.

Those restless nights and demons in your head are nothing less than liars. Do your best not to be a stat because you’re worth more than you can imagine.
Suicide is a Leading Cause of Death in the United States
“According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) WISQARS Leading Causes of Death Reports, in 2017:
Suicide was the tenth leading cause of death overall in the United States, claiming the lives of over 47,000 people.
Suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 35 and 54. There were more than twice as many suicides (47,173) in the United States as there were homicides (19,510).”
Table 1 shows the ten leading causes of death in the United States and the number of deaths attributed to each cause. Data are shown for all ages and select age groups where suicide was one of the leading ten causes of death in 2017. The data are based on death certificate information compiled by the CDC.
The thought of being sober is hard in our world.
There is an unknown amount of people in the world who feel like suicide is the answer to their problems, and taking their life is the only option because it feels that horrible. Fortunately, we’re here to remind you that everything will be okay, you are going to be okay and regardless of what you are facing, it shall pass.

Make the first step, be strong, tell someone you trust and always have a safe zone, stranger friends of the world, we love you. Please don’t choose the option of taking your own life. Reach out, you’re loved.

An ABSTRACT Integration
Tumblr media
THE FIVE CHOSEN AREAS OF CREATIVITY:
https://dinomightofficial.tumblr.com/post/165774917695/index-of-my-5-chosen-areas-of-creativity
Nihilism
Architecture
Graffiti
Color
Education
For a couple of hours I have been pondering about the possible links that may integrate my five chosen areas together, to sow them together with one thread. I had been stuck for a while just staring at the five areas as I had intentionally chosen areas in disregard to the fact that I would need to find a key connecting idea between them. I had done this intentionally because I did not want to make things easier for myself and instead choose five areas that are all somewhat close in ideas/topics. That would have been an easy connection but that’s not what I want because that would entail no challenge and a creative output.
My original intention for the method of connecting these areas together was... come to think about it quite stupid. I honestly thought that if I just stared at my areas long enough I would spontaneously come up with a connection. The reason why I thought this would work is because personally that is how I spawn my base creative ideas. For me I get the coolest idea when I just stare off into the nothingness. Often known as a shower thought it is common for people to get brilliant ideas when they have a clean slate of a mind. This concept wasn’t very helpful this time though...
I had to eventually give in and get an external interaction to act as the spark plug for my engine of a brain. Credits to Talia, Sheena and... Max (eww) for throwing ideas at me. Although I eventually crafted my own connection being Abstractness it was a good catalyst to work from.
Self Interpretive
My first thought I thought I had nailed the coffin because most of these was a typical art form such as: The use of color, architecture and graffiti. It got me thinking that a commonality that most art forms shared is self interpretation of the artist, even Nihilism could fit into this idea as whether we are withdrawn or optimistic about this concept could be interpretative. However, where it limited me was Education. I couldn’t really see or find a connection within the field of education and the text in which I had reviewed it under could fit. Baking per say isn’t self interpretative in a direct sense because the recipes NEED to be followed for a desired outcome.
Expressive
My second thought ties somewhat closely with self interpretation in the sense that how we interpret things may differ thus allow for unique expressiveness through the use of artistic mediums. As shown in the connection matrix only Architecture, Color and Graffiti were connected to this word. I guess Nihilism could have been forcefully connected under the idea that our perception of the meaning of life and what we get out of it is our way of expressing whether we are an optimist or a pessimist. But even then it would have been unfitting because that would rather be the idea that is to be expressed rather than the medium/act of expressing it in itself.
Poverty
The idea that poverty has a correlation between those who are less educated and those who commit illegal activities was an idea that led me to come up with poverty. Poverty not only reveals this correlation but can also mean that through the use of graffiti, color can be utilized and also through the use of graffiti it can change the meaning of a building no matter how boring the building is making architecture obsolete. However, in connecting the dots in this fashion it would be forced and it wouldn’t necessarily all connect to poverty and instead the areas would connect to each other without a centralized idea/concept. A forced integration was simply not ideal and so I could not use this, it although was useful in finalizing down to the bigger connection being abstraction.
Limitation
The integration effort of ‘limitation’ was an idea that Max had suggested for me as he pointed out that specific architectural designs may restrict/limit the available space for graffiti and I found this interesting enough to put it up. I then found that limitation of education will statistically lead to more illegal graffiti, I feel that this connection with education was kind of redundant however as this same reasoning was already covered by poverty. I couldn’t find a connection between color or nihilism and so this integration had to be cleared of a possibility.
Abstract
It was at this point I had shifted my perspective/thought process from focusing onto the five areas and instead focus onto the failed connections that I had been coming up with such as; poverty and expression. It was under the method that I needed to focus on the general connections rather than the areas itself. What I mean by this is that the best way to integrate my five areas/texts was to integrate the failed efforts of previous integrations. Abstract fell under all of the areas because almost anything really can be put under abstraction as it almost anything can be turned into a thought/idea.
Nihilism can be abstract because it is merely a concept in which it devours our mental will to do anything productive because it brings about depressive thoughts. However, the opposite spectrum of this being optimistic nihilism it can also enhance our will do live a life of risk and make the most of whatever it is our life is. It is abstract in the sense that its difficult to tell what all of this means and what we should get out of it. Education can be abstract through the pedagogical theory in which the method of teaching is examined and conceptualized. Color is abstract because colors can be self interpretative and psychologically expresses tone, mood and ideas merely by the use of a pallet of colors. Graffiti can be abstract because through the use of words, color, images and most importantly its location it can convey more than one idea/meaning/purpose. Architecture can be abstract because through the design principles and structural aesthetic buildings can convey not just a hospital structure but can also be an artwork that communicates an alternative idea/concept.
For the integrative summary I have decided to construct a poem that encapsulates all of these ideas into one. The reason why I have decided to do a poem instead of an essay, a video or a song is because I thought that a poem is an ideal format to communicate an abstract understanding of my integrative practice through the use of a self interpretative/expressive manner.

A couple suggestions from someone with ADHD and similar problems cleaning up (long post but I've highlighted certain focuses so feel free to skip to your personal dilemma or skip altogether):
If you have a hard time folding clothes and putting them into drawers, hang everything. I buy Command Hooks literally by the dozen and stick them on every available surface. They're like $5 per pack and reusable. All of my sweatshirts, jackets, scarves, jewelry, etc, hang on Command Hooks where I can see them all the time. While it takes all of my effort to fold everything I have and keep it orderly, or even to put it all in drawers, takes 0 effort to hang my things on those hooks, and that has made a huge difference in my life.
I do hang my dress and business clothes on hangers and put them in the closet, which takes a little more executive functioning, so I do it on my days off while watching my favorite tv shows. It's rewarding to do so bc the sooner I'm done the more I can focus on my show. Other ways to reward yourself would be a half hour of video games for every load of laundry finished and hung (use timers!!) or an edible treat after you're done.
Also, when I didn't share my bedroom with my partner, I kept my closet open all the time, so I could always see my entire wardrobe and access it without a single obstacle in my way. (Now I live with my partner, who prefers the doors closed, so I've learned to deal with it). The only thing I keep in drawers are off-season clothes (t-shirts when it's winter, sweaters when it's summer, etc), pants, and socks and underwear. Honestly you could still hang your pants if it's a problem to keep them in drawers. Socks and underwear are more difficult and used every day, so probably keep those in a drawer.
If you have a hard time keeping your personal interests (games, toys, hobbies, etc) neat and out of the way, buy (or build) a bookshelf. We got one for $12 at a used furniture store; it leans threateningly to one side but otherwise works fine. All of your hobbies can go on the shelves. For us it's mostly board games, MtG cards, DVDs, and CDs. You could reasonably put crafting, art, and writing supplies on your shelves, or toys, or whatever. All of your stuff is then out in the open and easily accessible while also having its place. I admit it took some level of executive functioning to organize all of it but now that it's done it takes so little effort to access what I need and put it back on the shelf when I'm done.
If you have a lot of paperwork (bills, student loan documents, school papers and notes, etc) that needs to be organized and put away, lol good luck son. This is my biggest struggle, so a few disclaimers before I give any advice: I physically cannot stand to work on going through papers for more than an hour. Sometimes even a half hour is too much and more often than not all I have to do is look at the pile of old college essays to completely lose motivation and walk away.
The biggest things that have helped me are a filing box, filing dividers, and folders. Fun colored pens and markers help. I guess part of it is that I have to cling to the high that the office supplies aisle at Wal-Mart Meijer gives me. Y'know that feeling of "hey this will solve all my problems!" that you get when you look at the organizing tools in the office supplies aisle? Cling to it with everything you've got. Remind yourself that the only thing stopping that organizing tool from actually solving all your problems is your commitment to using it.
Then comes actually going through the papers. 2 piles. A keep pile and a discard pile. You can truly organize it later. Set a timer for how long you want to go at this and give yourself a nice break when the timer goes off.
It's also important to know that some things don't have to be perfect. I hold onto a lot of old papers that I don't need to access all the time, so it's reasonable to toss them in a file folder and let them be. On the other hand, my student loan files may be important, so I need to have them organized for quick access. So when it comes to actually sorting them, some things have to be high priority while others don't.
That's all I have for now. Please feel free to comment if you have any other advice!
As i’m growing older and dealing with more and more adult responsibilites i get more and more angry with my head. I just dont remember anything, i try to make jokes of it but sometimes it just makes me so angry with myself. Like haha i don’t remember anything if it’s not in front of me and i can see it haha. But that’s the nr 1 reason i’m struggling to live with adhd. My room is a mess because cleaning in itself is a big executive dysfunction problem, but it’s also because if i put anything away i will forget that thing existed right away. And i wish i could just do all those things so i could put them away, but executive dysfunction is stopping me from doing any of them. And i can’t write every single thing i need to remember down, and i try because i have to or else i wouldn’t get anything done, but then it’s really hard to keep all my goddamn notes organized. I just wish my brain didn’t have 2 settings, overwhelmed and under-stimulated

The conclusive, best New Zealand music of 2018
For the very first and last time, Henry Oliver offers his conclusive account of The Spinoff's finest New Zealand music of 2018. Read it and get mad.
Here it is, my 10 best albums and ten best songs, all from Aoteroa, all launched in 2018. The one rule: appearance on one list disqualifies that artist from appearing on the other list. Okay? Okay.ALBUMS 1.
Chelsea Jade-- Personal BestChelsea Jade has constantly cultivated an
air of secret-- a mix of art school obfuscation, an inconsistent release schedule, and her fierce self-reliance in a category that usually counts on deep-pocketed labels to pay for the revolving churchgoers of authors and manufacturers we have actually all pertained to consider required. However this year, her stream of consistently impressive singles and EPs finally coalesced into a launching album and it cleared the high bar of expectation she had actually generated. Personal Best is whatever a listener might want out of this brand-new type of pop music that is
n't that popular(someone I was speaking with recently called it 'unpop '). It's catchy but weird, integrating nods to the category's leading lights(Robyn, Carly Rae Jepsen, and so on)with production flourishes of ASMResque coughs, clicks and gasps. Just as the music is made with an eager ear for detail, the lyrics are alive with social nuance and microscopic minutes. They check out more like little essays than poems.(Personal Best makes me want to write all the words I hate to be used to explain music like'clever'and 'literate '.)And all of it is covered in this look and vibe that differs from anything else in 2018. It's simple to ignorethe degree of trouble Chelsea Jade has actually set for herself. The images, the videos, the dances, the live show, the Instagramming, the'individual brand name
'-- it's such a small target she's been able to strike. A few degrees off and it all looks fucking ludicrous. However Personal Best-- and everything surrounding it-- struck the bullseye.2. Avantdale Bowling Club-- Avantdale Bowling Club The day'Years Gone By'came out, I was connected immediately. It's my most-played New Zealand tune of the year on Spotify and it's 7 minutes long! Its accomplishment is type of extensive-- a single personrecounting their life, practically year-by-year in seven minutes while still holding to a
rhyme scheme and something near to a song-structure. Those in-depth moments of childhood, the discomforts of growing up, his moms and dads fucking up, him getting screwed up, him getting semi-famous and after that getting reduced, him growing up, getting married, having a child. Numerous months and lots of plays later, I still get goosebumps when I hear the lines"And now I watch his eyes viewing mine/ Viewing life on rewind, too magnificent to define in one line." If you know, you know.Like Personal Best, among the things that stay so outstanding about Avantdale Bowling Club is how tough it is to do this well. Envision being a rap artist and telling your partners something like, "You understand A Love Supreme!.?.!? I wish to make a record kinda like that but a rap record."It's preposterous. It
's like saying,"Yeah, I wish to make a film like Citizen Kane, however a superhero movie." Yet, in some way he
pulls it off once again andagain.' Pocket Lint ','F (r)iends ','Water Medley','Home'-- all are filled with elaborate rhymes that so empathetically explain a particular New Zealand life, covering inequality, imagination , property, relationship, fatherhood, hope, hopelessness.3. The Beths-- Future Me Dislikes Me Emo lyrics, pop-punk guitar sounds, 60s harmonies, power pop hooks-- this is the recordI didn't understandI needed (and even desired)in my life in 2018. Future Me Dislikes Me is guitar pop songwriting at it's best. There is no guitar-based album in 2018, anywhere, as catchy as this one. You may prefer the Mitski record or the 1975 record or the Courtney Barnett record or the Snail Mail record, however none is as catchy as this. Because it's not empty catchiness
-- the lyrics are truthful(in some cases a little cringy even) and amusing
."Our category is hooks," guitar player Jonathan Pearce informed us a month or so earlier. And sure, hooks aren't whatever, however they make you wish to press play and after that press it once again and once again and again.4. Marlon Williams-- Give Way for Love There's no voice like Marlon Williams'. Not here, not anywhere. I can listen to it for hours. His voice might soothe the world. It must soothe the world. I like a record so specifically about a break-up, although it's been a long time since I might connect to any of it in the smallest. I like'Love Is A Horrible Thing'. I love 'Nobody Gets What They Want Any longer'. I like'The Fire of Love'.5. Fanau Medical Spa-- Fanau Day Spa If you want an album that might just have actually been made here, could only have actually been made in 2018, Fanau Health club is it. Building on the partnership behind Coco Solid's COKES mixtape, Fanau Health spa is a
fluid combination of Coco
Solid, Queen Kapussi, Joe Kori, Big Fat Raro, Xamiishi, Manu, Brown Boy Magik, TH1R § T3EN and Yumgod. There's literally nothing else like it.6. Unknown Mortal Orchestra-- Sex and Food Unusual how just months after its release individuals seem to be sleeping on this album. I suggest, to be fair, I hadn't listened to it that much after seeing them play Whammy Bar in the middle of the year, however going through it now, there are a lot of tunes on this
album. I was going to consist of'A
God Called Hubris 'on my songs list because A. I like it; B. it seems like what The Mint Chicks might now if they were still a band, and C. I believed it 'd be funny to include a 41-second song on my songs list. That would not be reasonable to'Not in Love','Break Yourself ','Everybody Acts Crazy Nowadays'. Not to point out'Hunnybee 'which isn't my favourite song on the album but is an undeniable feel-good disco banger.7. Julien Dyne-- Teal This is a mind-bending, toe-tapping, knee-drumming bursting-through-the-speakers rhythm bomb of an
album. You simply give yourself to it and not your head a little out of time.( Likewise, includes among my favourite tunes of 2017,' Hours'with Ladi6.)8. October-- Ultra Red Take bombastic commercial beats, sugary pop production, Jesus and Mary Chain fuzz guitars, grind it up, put it out and you have October's Ultra Red. I've stated it elsewhere but goth is having a moment in a bunch of different locations(anybody else psyched about those This Mortal Coil reissues? )and it's just a matter of time up until somebody determine how to combine it with forward-thinking pop and find their way into teenager's minds worldwide. There's no reason why it could not be October in a year or so.9. P.H.F.-- I Hate Myself P.H.F.'s I Hate Myself resembles the degenerate twin of The Beth's Future Me Hates Me.
Liz Stokes may dislike herself in
the future, however Joe Locke is method ahead of her. Like Future Me, I Dislike Myself is a hook-laden power-pop-punk affair however shrouded in static. It's a bit Weezer, a bit Smashing Pumpkins, a bit all those late-00s"shitgaze"bands. So good!(Yells to twitter power user
@m_h_lumber who tweeted this to me a variety of times throughout the year.)10. Princess Chelsea-- The Loneliest Girl I never thought 2018 would be a huge year for the Lil'Chief visual. The scene that kinda reached its peak they year (s) when The Brunettes, The Ruby Suns, The Reduction Agents, but produced two high-quality albums this year(see listed below for the other). Princess Chelsea's The Loneliest Girl is full of wit and sincerity. TUNES 1. Church & AP-- 'Ready or Not'It may be recency bias, but fuck it. If not now, when? Live for today, amirite? I imply, I liked their Thorough Bread record a lot, however still wasn't prepared for this bona fide radio-friendly HIT. Song of the year? Why not? Provide me a reason not to!"Savignon blanc? I saw that shit and I provided it to ma. "2. Hans Pucket--'Fuck My Life'I composed what I need to
state about this song in our reader's study post. In short: this tune is a hit and in any other time, in any other media landscape, this would be on the charts. Still ... 3. Tiny Ruins--'Just How Much'"On a lilo reading your letter, "is probably my preferred opening line of a New Zealand song in 2018. What a scene! I like that this song subtly expands the Tiny Ruins sounds without taking too
far into the psych-lite territory it might have easily gotten to. I just desire to reside in this
world all the time. And I'm giving reward points for the bass solo of the year.4. JessB--'Set It Off 'Play this next time your phone is plugged in at a celebration. Play this to your kids. Play this all summertime with your vehicle windows down. One of the live highlights of the overly-polite music awards is one of the highlights of the whole damn year.5. Delaney
Davidson-- 'Shining Day'I love this plodding
dirge
of a tune. Co-written with SJD,'
Shining Day' is the favorable affirmation you have actually been waiting on. Whatever it is you desire to do-- do not wait. Today's the day. This day. This is your shining day. 6. Drax Task--'Got up Late'I used to hate Drax Task. Maybe I still do, I don't understand. One day, my pal and employer Duncan Greive asked,"have you heard the new Drax single?" Of course
I hadn't! Weren't they those Wellington music school
kids who did covers of radio hits? Why would I stay up to date with their output? Well, in some cases the stars simply align. And this is it. The very best business radio struck to come from these islands this year. By far. No question. This ought to beon the soundtrack of every Hollywood teen movie
for the next two years.7. SWIDT--'No Feelings In The Wild 'SWIDT goes dark! There've been some difficulties to the crown this year (see # 1 above)however up until somebody comes out with a full-length as excellent as Stoneyhunga, SWIDT is still the rap group to beat. And while this year's EP wasn't quite as excellent, it suffices to hold the area.8. Death and the Maiden--'Wisteria'Before the time of writing, the last time I
listened to this song was driving over the hillsnorth of Dunedin en route to Moeraki. It was raining, foggy as fuck, and there was nothing that sounded as perfect as this song. I can recommend the experience.9. Jonathan Bree--'You're So Cool'I mean, I don't understand exactly what to believe
about this. Is this extremely earnest or incredibly paradoxical? Too
earnest or too cold? Does it matter? It's just such a well-crafted tune-- financial yet expansive, rich production. And the look! The video! 10. Carb on Carbohydrate--' It's Been a Rough Year'It definitely has. (Seriously-- I didn't know I wished to ever hear second-wave emo once again up until I heard this record. It's so good though
. It goes to many places I, as a listener, am not constantly keen to go. I enjoy it for it. ) So much of the music mentioned above-- songs and/or albums by Chelsea Jade, Marlon Williams, The Beths, October and more-- was made with the assistance of NZ on Air. We thank them.

Episode 85 - Charles Eisenstein on Living in the Space Between Stories
Hello my friends and other fellow naked apes!  Another uncut interview plus fully produced, HIGHLY edited show for the inner circle…this time with one of my favorite provocateur-lover-authors, Charles Eisenstein. Do you like having the video of the full interview?  I ask because:
It usually takes me 5 – 10 hours per episode just to do the audio editing, because without the video there the normal long pauses and weird placeholders we insert into conversations just don’t seem right.
Plus, sometimes we have to interrupt the recording to move – like in this video, from 9:00 – 11:45, which I encourage skipping over unless you like watching me stare blankly into space…
Giving you this raw secret thing is kind of like taking off all of my makeup now that we’re actually in bed.  It’s vulnerable, raw, and real…but I’m not sure how much that matters to you.  So send me a note if you feel strongly, one way or another!  Or, you know, about whatever.  I’m listening.  🙂
love Michael
youtube
This week’s guest is Charles Eisenstein, author of five books that challenge our inherited stories of civilization and progress – but move beyond critique and into an articulation of the new paradigm emerging simultaneously through all fields of human inquiry and practice: new modes of inter-being in a living and intelligent world; humility and celebration of the mysteries that bridges science, art, and spirit; and new perspectives on how we determine value and how we can thrive amidst an age of transformation.
Charles offers us a literate and savvy look at how we got to where we are and what we will require to move past the suicidal, ecocidal myths that got us here. He’s also warm and kind and makes it easy to unfold into this awesome conversation, in which he calls BS on the rhetoric of endless economic growth and scientific conquest, and invites us to co-dream the future that so many of us have become too cynical to hope for. Enjoy this bracing dose of cool, clear wisdom and bright insight:
Our New, Better Life?
https://charleseisenstein.net/essays/7061-2/
Why I Am Afraid of Global Cooling
https://charleseisenstein.net/essays/why-i-am-afraid-of-global-cooling/
Discussed:
What inspired Charles’ thorough history and critique of civilization, The Ascent of Humanity, and how it differs from “anti-civilization” texts.
The independent convergent evolutions of civilization in Mesopotamia, China, India, and several other places, pointing to the inevitability and directionality of what we call “progress.”
What new stories emerge at the intersection of the timeless attractors toward a whole and healthy, thriving biodiverse world of human inter-beings, and a fragmented post-ecocidal VR fully artificial landscape?
When is it useful to think of humans as part of nature and when is it useful to think of humans as distinct from nature?
“Participation begins with listening. And that listening is motivated by accepting that there’s something to listen TO. That there’s something that wants to happen. What wants to happen and how can we participate in that? How can we exercise our gifts in service to this larger thing?”
What cultural appropriation gets wrong in its attempts to retrieve and revive indigenous rites (“It’s not the content of the rituals; it’s the spirit of the rituals.”)
Money as a ritual: “One of the reasons money comes so easily to us is that it’s a kind of ritual. The human mind…ritual is its territory.”
“Law, Medicine, Money, and Technology: those are the most powerful realms of ritual that we have.”
Operating on a story that believes the world to be dead leads to a world that is, in fact, dead – whether or not it actually was dead in the first place. Treating nature as a resource rather than as a community of minded cohabitants and potential collaborators is a self-fulfilling prophecy and an act of self-sabotage.
Charles’ critique of the New Age technologies of manifestation as oblivious of where the intention or vision comes from in the first place, how we’re enfolded into our environments…
…and how paradoxically similar that critique is to the disenchanting philosophies described by people like Yuval Harari and Timothy Morton, who make the case that it’s equally the case that the world is alive, or that humans are basically just machines. Or Erik Davis’ “re-animism,” in which we return to a pre-modern sense of a sentient environment through our encounter with AI-suffused devices.
How the scientific quest for control over a purely mechanical cosmos pushed us all the way around into some truly weird revelations about the indeterminate, irreproducible, and contingent workings of our mysterious universe.
Why machines don’t provide a sufficient metaphor for understanding consciousness, and certainly not for reproducing it.
Is trying to fit the complexity of the world into a linear narrative structure the problem at the root of all this? Is it a form of violence to talk about time and evolution having a direction?
“I’m not a story fundamentalist. If I say the world is built from story, I also recognize that that itself is also a story. I look at the story of inter-being, for example, as really just the ideological layer of an organism that is far deeper than story.”
“There are many ways to know. And we’re conditioned by a story that says only the measurable is real. So we’re conditioned to give priority to ways of knowing that have to do with putting things in categories.”
“Progress as currently formulated is not real progress at all. We’re not getting ANY closer to the fulfillment of human potential. Well, aybe we are getting closer on one very narrow axis of development. But there is so much more to a fully expressed human being…and we’re moving away from it in a lot of ways.”
What metaphor for mind/life/nature is set to replace “the computer,” just as “the computer” replaced “the steam engine,” which replaced “the geared watch?”
How black box AI solutions restore the mystery and magic to the technosphere, replacing reason with blind faith.
Kevin Kelly, Stephen Pinker, William Irwin Thompson, Douglas Rushkoff, Arthur Brock…
“The more empathic our participation, the better off we’ll be.”
Can we be TOO empathic?
“I think on some level, we all DO feel what all beings are feeling.”
The boundaries we draw between our selves and the world, between one organism and another, also evolve.
The healing power of grief.
Purge-aholics Anonymous.
The evolution of service as a continuously shifting, molting thing that changes, that requires careful listening. No moment is the same.
The sacred disquiet that attends our new perspective as we learn to see a bigger (ever-bigger) picture.
“We have to be cognizant of the inevitable reduction that happens when we assign values to things…one way to translate the humble awareness of the limitations of quantified value is to design currencies that do not need to grow in order to survive.”
Did money invent science?
“Property is an agreement. It’s not an absolute objective thing…as much as libertarians would like it to be.”
Why cryptocurrency (wants to, but) can’t replace human agreement with code.

ROUND II OF THE MINI REFUSE (HAHA THIS JOKE STILL ISN’T FUNNY)
PART I: BLACK MIRROR//SAN JUNIPERO
Tumblr media
While I was a fan of all of the Black Mirror episodes that we covered in class, this one really stood out to me. Not because it was scary, or sad, but because it was shockingly happy and sweet. The first episode of Black Mirror that I ever saw was Shut Up and Dance, and if I’m being honest it was scary. I watched it late at night at a sleepover, and it was essentially the equivalent of watching a horror or thriller movie for me. That’s the atmosphere of most of Black Mirror’s episodes. But San Junipero has an overwhelmingly positive energy, especially compared to the others. I’m sure most of us have thought about what life would be like if we grew up in a different decade, and the technology in this reality makes that possible- sort of. I really loved this take on immortality, because it really does seem like something that could be possible in the future. I also think that this episode posed an interesting question to its audience: if you had the opportunity to live forever, would you take it? They make it look so appealing! You can live in whatever decade you want, potentially with your loved ones, in a place where you don’t have to worry about anything. When I was younger, and this is gonna get morbid for a second, I always thought that I wanted to die young. But life is unpredictable! I might meet a person that I want to be with forever tomorrow. Or maybe I already know that person. Or maybe we won’t even have a choice of whether or not we want to live forever in the future! The point is, nobody knows what tomorrow holds and that’s part of what makes this episode so cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another thing that I wanted to talk about is the 80s aesthetic throughout the episode. Throwing it back to the 80s has become increasingly popular in modern media, with Stranger Things, The Goldbergs, Freaks and Geeks, The Americans, the list goes on, and I love it. I’m one of those annoying teenagers who constantly says “man, I just belong in a different generation”, and the 80s, while not my top pick, have always been very attractive to me. Performing in The Wedding Singer  this year also opened up my eyes to how fun 80s style really is. It was really refreshing to have a Black Mirror episode take place primarily in the 80s, especially when they are usually set in the not-so-distant future. Additionally, I loved the LGBTQ representation in this episode. I also thought that Yorkie’s story was one that a lot of people would be able to relate to, especially in older generations. Many don’t act on their sexuality for their whole lives out of fear of being publicly shamed, and Yorkie’s story is a perfect example that it’s never too late to pursue what you love. Good job Black Mirror, you made me cry instead of jump, at least for one episode.
Tumblr media
(get ready for lots of gifs, after that gif comment in class)
PART II: THE KILLING JOKE
It’s no secret that I am not Batman’s biggest fan, but I really did enjoy this comic. Prior to this unit I was 100% team John Green on this debate. Batman doesn’t even have any powers what’s so great about him anyway?!?!
youtube
I still keep some of my opinions from BB (before Batman), for example, I still think that Batman would be nothing without his villains, especially the Joker, but I now think that I understand why people love him so much. No one person is purely good or purely evil, and that’s what Batman is all about, in my eyes anyway. I also like the way that Batman is depicted in this comic, especially compared to The Dark Knight Returns. Batman in this version is much more focused on actually helping people as opposed to “fighting his inner darkness”. The Killing Joke Batman is a Batman that I can get behind. He still has his dramatic voice overs, but they aren’t so ridiculously over the top and cheesy. I also really like the art work of The Killing Joke, and the panels are way easier to follow. AND THOSE MOVIE LIKE TRANSITIONS! For someone not too familiar with comics, the cinematic approach made reading The Killing Joke much more enjoyable for me.
Tumblr media
I mentioned that I still believe that The Joker is the real star of Batman, and I think that this particular comic strengthens that argument. The reader gets a sense of how evil he really is, but also the extent of his sanity. He’s chosen insanity to avoid dealing with his trauma, and the reader is more sympathetic to the Joker because of this. “Ignorance is bliss”, and the Joker is really just this common saying to an extreme. He would rather not feel anything at all than feel the pain that he was subjected to in his life, and I think that everyone can understand that, regardless of whether or not they agree with his choice. I particularly love the quote “I’ve demonstrated there’s no difference between me and everyone else! All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That’s how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day”.
Tumblr media
PART III: THE SHINING
I did see this movie before we watched it in class, and I watched it again after, but I really valued the discussion that came from our group screening. I wanted to watch The Shining because of its “classic” status, and it also helps that it’s ranked #60 on IMDb’s top rated films. In fact on IMDb, the tagline that’s posted is “a masterpiece of modern horror”. As soon as the word masterpiece is tied to something, there’s a 99% chance I’m going to want to check it out, yes I’m a pretentious snob like that.
Tumblr media
I think part of the reason that I love this movie is that I’m not one who’s immediately turned off by a complicated and ambiguous story line, in fact it intrigues me. The Shining was like this year’s Psycho for me. It checked off all of the things that I would want from a movie: a unique score, dedication to character, innovative shots, and a plot that makes you think. Having a recognizable score is an amazing feat in filmmaking, and I think that The Shining accomplished that. Sure, you probably wouldn’t be able to hum a few bars like you could Jaws, or Star Wars, but you know it when you hear it, and knowing it when I heard it landed me a quick chat on twitter with one of my favourite social media personalities. It’s pretty crazy to me that Jonah Green was mentioned in my very first blog post over 2 years ago, and I’m still an active supporter of him to this day. Jonah has stopped posting regular videos, but over the past few weeks he has been doing nightly livestreams where he’s been talking about some more thought provoking topics that people in the comments suggest. During one of these streams he walked through a room where someone was watching a movie, and I caught just a couple seconds of what sounded like The Shining. A couple of hours after the stream he tweeted that he would be chatting with people for a little bit while watching some horror movies, and what happened next is as follows:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(probably what my face looked like after that exchange // side note: how is Jack Nicholson’s face so simultaneously hilarious & horrifying??)
In summary I’d like to thank Kubrick, Mr. Edwards, and the Academy for this award. In all seriousness, this was cool, but really it’s a testament to the power of film! I’ve only seen this movie 3 times but I was able to recognize it from a small audio clip! That’s how you know you’re doing something right. The classic Kubrick ambiguity of this movie only makes me want to watch it again and again. The characters are so defined and fully realized that I would definitely be extremely uncomfortable around Nicholson in real life, or want to give Duvall a hug. The amount of continuous tracking shots made me so excited (I mean, Birdman is one of my favourite movies if that tells you anything). I’m not a horror movie junkie by any means, but this is a movie I know I will continue to enjoy for years. To finish off this section let’s take a listen to that bit of the score that I’ve been going on about shall we? (skip to about 3:58)
youtube
PART IV: GENGHIS KHAN
My favourite, everyone’s favourite. It’s finally made it’s return.
youtube
This is probably one of my favourite music videos of all time. When my good pal Lacy sent it to me and said “we should learn the dance”, I’m gonna be honest I wasn’t expecting too much. Little did I know that opening up that link would have such an impact on my life.
If this weren’t sent to me, I can almost guarantee I would’ve never stumbled upon the masterpiece of Genghis Khan (the video, not the cruel emperor). Honestly though, all jokes aside, I think this is a great video for a few reasons.
1. That dance sequence really is spectacular, 10/10 choreography
2. It showcases a family with two dads in a normal (ish) way
3. Catchy tune
4. The song is much more meaningful alongside the video component
5. Face jewelry??
6. Visually pleasing shots with that 80s vibe again
7. Singing and dancing guards! Especially the little penguin flap move starting at 2:32
8. The best dance move ever at 2:55
9. Edwards put it on our grade eleven exam, which made me feel so much better after having an emotional break down from being late
10. The song never got too popular, so I don’t hate it for being overplayed
As a gift to the world, I cut a particular clip which is my favourite part of the whole video, so I hope you like it.

PART V: EDWARDS
Here we go. What a crazy journey we’ve been on together, am I right ladies? I totally copied Brynne with this one, but there’s no other way I’d rather finish off this post. Edwards, we’ve been sharin’ laughs together since ‘13, how crazy is that? Back when I was obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy and the bottoms of your jeans weren’t ripped to shreds. Man those were the days. One thing that I won’t forget from grade nine is getting an essay back after you marked it and seeing scribbles all over the front page. My first thought was “wow, that bad?” but it turned out it was just the art of your son who wanted to help you mark. To tell the truth, I think you probably added a couple chicken scratches for your own satisfaction, but that’s beside the point.
Sadly, I’ve only got two other chicken scrath- I mean yearbook signatures from you (what was grade nine &ten me thinking??) but they’re pure gold.

I don’t think I’ll ever live down this Grey’s Anatomy thing, but don’t worry, I’m not cringing as hard as Kepner is about it.  Also, you’re eating your words now huh? You WISH I didn’t take your grade 12 class, you gotta be careful what you put out into the universe!

I’m only kidding, I know I’m your favourite student, and yes, I know that you can’t reply to this post to deny it. I really just wanted to give you the shoutout that you deserve for putting up with me for 5 WHOLE YEARS. Think of all the time you could have saved only marking normal-length blog posts instead of the novels that you get from me. Think of all of that time you could’ve spent making fun of other kids instead of just me (and Brynne obviously, you are ruthless with that one). Think of all of the laughter that you’d have accumulated within you because you weren’t exposed my quick wit and hilarious jokes. I wanted to thank you for always being there to share a laugh, a new video, or a difficult conversation. You’ve done so much for so many students and I know that I will never forget the impact you’ve had on my life as not only a teacher, but a role model. I actually remember the first day of high school, I was doing a tour of the building with my link crew leaders and as we were walking through the english hallway one of them asked, “Do any of you have Mr. Edwards this year?”. I looked down at my timetable and sure enough, there you were for second period english. They then said something like “Aw he’s an awesome teacher, you’re gonna love him”, but that was such an understatement. I know that I will be added to the bottom of the never ending list of kids who comes back to visit you, but I don’t mind. You’ll be at the top of my list of teachers who inspired me to be unapologetically myself, and that’s something I can’t thank you for enough.

Alright, we’ve made it to that part of the post where I talk about the best Viral Friday submissions and I’m very proud to say that the class actually liked my picks this year. So, since I don’t have to fight anyone, I can simply appreciate the best submissions from the whole class (my own included obviously)

Some People Excel At educator And Some Do not - Which One Are You?
It's All About (The) instructor.
A teacher may be terminated or suspended throughout the term of a contract, yet just for the following factors: a decrease effective pursuant to the institution district's policies; inexperienced performance; conduct which materially disrupts the continued performance of the teacher's obligations; repeated or material disregard of task; and also other just and also reasonable reason. Therefore, he is not just my instructor yet my good friend, training me on a daily basis how you can live authentically just by being that he is. I concur and also loved this analysis short article. The teacher after that calls out grid referrals and also students cross them off their grid. They might have assumed that a loud, mad voice would place the pupils in position as well as force them to pay attention as well as learn. Several of these teachers are new and are not knowledgeable about the should ask for pupil responses. Do not forget to provide appreciation and also credit report to the teacher that led you to this understanding when you discover something new and locate that you could effectively place it right into practice. Inning accordance with a recent report on instructor attrition by the National Facility for Education and learning Data, among educators that quit as well as took non-education works, 64% did so in order to have even more autonomy at the office, without micromanagement. They can maintain a journal concerning the temperatures and also climate or they can collect data on the amount of calories individuals consume on a normal day and the number of calories they consume at a vacation event. In some circumstances the educators who use games in courses do well in passing on the expertise much faster and better amongst the pupils. Due to the fact that it might be successful in the multicultural atmosphere, educators should not be scared to implement an one-of-a-kind mentor design. There is barely a week that passes that there is not some inappropiate accusation of touching right here in The U.S.A.. Most of us wore our spirit wear, including our brand-new THRIVE style t-shirts as well as it was a great day to fulfill the children, tell them what college products to buy, and also start our year with some understanding! Experienced educators can advance to act as mentors to more recent teachers or to become lead teachers. Besides, some other instructors dictate the rules to their pupils in Arabic losing their time. It conserves loan to have one educator teach way too many classes are to have an instructor double up as an instructor. I discuss that I know that no person is best so they will most likely loose marks, however if there are any kind of marks left at the end of the day they will be rewarded with 10 to fifteen mins of playing a video game if we can achieve 'virtually' whatever the instructor has actually appointed. Once in the classroom connecting with the students, the educator will certainly have the ability to observe the different understanding designs of the pupils and will be able to better plan for the future. Having this qualities as well as a master's eco slim degree will open up different doors for groove instructor task.
A Guide To instructor At Any kind of Age
The Pay tab explains normal profits and also exactly how workers in the profession are compensated-- annual incomes, per hour wages, tips, payments, or bonus offers. Along with classroom treatments, successful teachers have well-managed classrooms that are pupil focused; they contribute to pupils' cooperation and enable students to feel as if they belong of the class. It is elected officials that have to establish the program and incentivize pupils to come to be mathematics and scientific research educators by perhaps minimizing or forgiving tuition financial debt for those that consent to seek teaching tasks and stay in them for a drawn-out time period. He read, in a monotone, the message I had in front of me. My directing teacher could grade (?) when I was interning all 5 classes of essays during her preparation period. As well, make music a component of residence life to ensure that your kid will obtain admiration for music. For instance two tenured teachers, one white and also the various other Hispanic, had actually opted for a perform at the end of the school year during their break time, when both returned to the college, the Hispanic educator was as well as received an e-mail questioned concerning his whereabouts and also why he had actually gone running.
You Could Say thanks to Us Later - 3 Reasons To Quit Thinking About educator
They need a human who truly cares about them and wants to see them be all they could be. They require a teacher with excitement they could capture to interest them in a topic. If he wants the connection to assist the student and also to last, the educator should avoid particular actions or conditions. Then there was my superviosing teacher (from pipe); she came exactly 4 times during 2 years. All you need to do is publish your instructor resume and other credentials and the Florida colleges that are seeking educators will concern you. However, by the end of the first week of college, or definitely by the second week of institution, middle school students start to feel even more comfortable, they begin to test the educator's limits and also classroom management comes to be a growing number of hard. Because they are so vital and also never obtain the credit rating of what they do. Thanks, fantastic article. On my classroom blog I make a basic post each week informing parents (as well as students) of what we are doing that week and just what the homework is each day.
