So, on Toth’s birthday, Skout makes her a special belt and sheath for her favorite stabbing knife (with help from an arts and crafts book, of course). It has cloth flowers and sequins everywhere, and totally clashes with Toth’s outfit.

She wears that belt everywhere, and Heaven help whoever dares make fun of it.

Nomadic Musings: A Squiggle Meister’s First Impressions of Nomad of Nowhere

Whelp, the first episode of RoosterTeeth’s newest series: Nomad of Nowhere is officially out and the squiggle meister got a chance to take a look at it.

While I don’t intentionally plan on making it a habit of reviewing this new series as it goes along, for this first post I just wanted to give my brief first impressions of this newest instalment to RoosterTeeth’s line-up of animated shows. I also don’t want to spoil anything for those of you who have yet to watch the first episode.

But what I will admit is that Nomad of Nowhere is definitely shaping up to be a very intriguing show with a rather unique cast of characters.

At first I pegged that the series main show runner was going to be our main girl or should I say, best girl: Skout.

While Skout is a pretty cool character especially as a main character and female lead, I’m afraid to say she isn’t the character that won me over. The award for stealing my heart for this show was Friend...a.k.a The Nomad.

I REALLY LIKE the Nomad. He’s...PRECIOUS is what I will say he is. The funny thing is, he doesn’t even talk. His whole persona is as a mute yet his behaviour complimented by his design (which gave me a huge Vivi from Final Fantasy 9 vibe) still managed to floor me with how oddly adorable he is. 

Every time the Nomad moved on screen, I just kept going ‘Awwww’ out loud because I find him so cute.

I find the Nomad to easily be my most favourite character in the show so far. Him and the Rocks. I like the Rocks too (whose design and movements kinda remind me of the Sootballs from Spirited Away).

I mean the other characters like Skout and Toth are cool (and I’m definitely sensing some mega shipping vibes from those two ladies already). But nah, if I had to pick a favourite, it’s the Nomad. He’s the precious nomadic cinnamon roll that definitely needs to be protected cause poor fella has a bounty on his head.

That being said, I gotta give the production team for Nomad props because the show looks great. From an art and design perspective, the setting of this show looks pretty cool. Definitely grabbed my attention and makes me want to learn more about it. 

I’m digging the Western-style aesthetic and am I the only one who got an Avatar the Last Airbender vibe with the animals of this show. I could’ve sworn I saw a two-headed armadillo and some kind of flying lizard at the start of the show.

I also need to applaud The Nomad Team for doing terrific job of setting up the show in terms of story and lore. Based on the first episode, there seems to be a mystery of some kind revolved around the character the show is named after: The Nomad or Friend as Skout calls him.

Judging by how the episode concluded, my guess is that the Nomad will be on the run right now, probably traversing the deserts on the back of his magical book eating hippopotamus that puts out fires by blowing water from its nose. No I am not making this up. This kind of stuff happened in the first episode.

If I had to predict one thing about the show is that the Nomad has a connection or past with the character of Skout...or at least someone who bares a strong resemblance to her. Perhaps an ancestor of Skout’s once knew and lived with the Nomad. There is no doubt in my mind that the next episode will probably start off with Skout regaining consciousness only to discover that the Nomad is on the move and he's taken her with him; not as a hostage but as friendly company. And the show will be mostly about them going from place to place, trying to evade Toth and the Crimson Dunderhead  (sorry didn’t care to learn the cocky bastard’s proper name) as they search for...I dunno...the origins of where the Nomad came from or an old friend he once lost...probably?

That's pretty much the only thing I can interpret about this show so far. Anything else is a mystery that I'm looking forward to uncovering as the show’s first season runs. Not sure if I’ll do more nomadic musings but I will keep tuning in for this show. RWBY Chibi may be on hiatus til June but Nomad of Nowhere is a welcomed replacement.

Colour me an intrigued fan of this new nomadic adventure.

SPOILERS!!! Nomad Of Nowhere!!!

OK SO WHO’S WATCHED THE NEWEST SERIES NOMAD OF NOWHERE??? CAUSE I HAVE!! AND I LOVE IT!!! AND I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT IT!!! WHICH IS WHY IM GOING TO DO AN EPISODE ANALYSIS!!! yeah I know, lame as hell. But again, I think it’d be cool to get some questions answered and try some kinda debate about this! Alrighty! Lets get this started!! I think i’ll start with the characters so far! However, this is going to be PRETTY long, so I’ll have to cut this short, enjoy the Character analysis for now!!

Because honest to god she’s another David copy. Skout is our main protagonist, alongside with the Nomad (although I’m starting to doubt it for reasons that will be explained later) 

Skout’s Data: 

She’s a tame child to say the least, following Toth like David follows Cameron Campbell. She’s so far fairly gullible and I’m going to guess she’s the type that judges books by their covers rather than getting to know them more since her first introduction to the Nomad. Speaking of books, did you know she has at least 5 books as thick as Harry Potter and the Deathly hollows? again, imagine 5 of those suckers. And like David’s abnormal strength with small frame, Im going to guess Skout’s also in the same predicament, following Toth like there’s no tomorrow, and of course, if she want’s to join her idol on her adventures, shes gotta stay in shape, which proves it since a grown man cant seem to catch the backpack, nor lift it off of him without help, but at least she can semi-match her strength to Toth’s! Skout is pretty passive when it comes to fights, which explains why she breaks up the fight in the beginning, however, she will use a weapon if she need’s to, sadly though she doesn’t know how to hold knifes correctly, possibly leading to the same result with any other weapon. She is also a quick thinker when it comes to dangerous situations, using the knowledge she has gained throughout her life. Also I pretty sure she’s going to end up this new fandoms cum dumpster, especially with how people are now  -_-’ But hey, lets hope for the best of this newborn fandom!

See, unlike Cameron, Toth is one, female, and two, not a complete douche bag than Cameron. 

Toth’s Data:

Toth, like what the picture says above, is tough, AS HELL. She shows that she could give two shits about her crew, but is willing to defend Skout when being bullied by the semi- antagonist, Red Manuel, (pretty sure its a petty fight here) The reason to her thirst of finding the Nomad is so far unknown, but I’m going to guess it might be due to connections with what had happened a 100 years ago before the Nomad disappeared, you know like a child's story, and she might have gotten inspiration from that. Toth, like Cameron, will abandon “plan A” but Toth over here, is very royal to those in her muscular heart! She is quite prideful with her image, but not to where she’s always gloating about it unlike Red Manuel. She prefers to be looked at as someone you should fear, and well you probably should if you don’t want her to stab you with her stabbing knife! Did you know shes got about at least 13 knifes, some of the weapons she carry’s consisting of other weapons that aren’t knifes (her favorite one is the one with thorns, which might have helped predict what they would encounter since their in the dessert until further on). *Rawr* such a tuff babe (ewe) She’s obviously the main lesbian ship of this fandom!!~ (TothXSkout) Skoth is what I’ve got so far. 

And of course, this precious, clumsy cinnamon roll (or is he?)

The Nomad’s Data:

The Nomad is a mysterious mute man who has been alive for what I’m going to assume, ranging about 120 years, 20 years being the age he disappeared, and everything happening now being a 100 years after his disappearance. Of course, the Nomad is what we kinda have to call him for now until we can get answers on what his actual name is, and what happened to his voice. (He obviously doesn’t know sign language other than hand gestures). Nomad actually means someone that travels from place to place and also means something about livestock... meh (thanks google), the name was obviously given to him due to him travelling so much so were probably going to have a long series here! He’s very kind, but because of his speech predicament, it’s kinda hard to explain situations you accidentally get into... The Nomad is pretty much a man child, he respects others, and is fairly kind, hes got quite the moral compass so to speak. And a pretty large one too. That however is going to lead him to more dangerous problems. Speaking of problems. He. is so. MESSY. The dude can’t seem to clean after himself, especially after a hundred years, but then again, hes been living in a forest for quite a while, without human interaction... which gives us the scene with him seeing an “illusion” of a “future” Skout as though she’s a housewife.... Jesus Christ Nomad fell pretty hard without realizing he did.. Get it? Because he hasn’t interacted with anyone for over a 100 years? And he gave Skout a flower... yeah .-. He also seems to have an alright control of his magic, and what looks like it, his power seems to be the ability of bringing things (inanimate objects) to life!! At least for now, again this is a newborn series.

OK!!! So I’m going to cut it off right here! and again, EPISODE ANALYSIS, where episode is singular i had plural on here im such a dumbass -_-), meaning I’m only talking about the first episode for now. BUT DON’T FRET!! FOR THIS TOPIC ISN’T OVER YET!!! I’LL TALK ABOUT THE EPISODE’S MYSTERIES TOMORROW OR SOMETIME SOON!!!
