I had a thought about rain world lore, maybe the reason rain deer are in the farm arrays only is they were purposed specifically to help with agriculture, their long pointed legs could aerate the soil while not disturbing the crops due to small surface area, and their primary diet, the spore puff (something also only in farm arrays), is a pest control, so likely they were purposed to eat the spores to spread them around (like how birds and other animals spread the seeds they eat or bees carry pollen around) and the rain deer spreading the spore puffs would keep pests away from the crops. On top of all that the reason rain deer are so friendly and willing to carry creatures could be part of their purposed ancestors carrying farm working ancients from place to place.

Also possibly worm grass is another form of pest control and the rain Deer help ancients circumvent it.

A deer carrying an ancient on it's antlers is just.. so cool. I think ancients might have been too big for that is my only concern.. knowing they are... most likely several slug cats tall? But I'm closing my eyes, they deserve to ride those little dumb beasts. Especially since their ancestors could have been bigger!

We know Farm Arrays was mostly fully automated by this pearl.

But I don't see that as something that has always been the case!
