might be wrong but iirc you have (sun?)glasses for your sensitive eyes right? if so, do you have any recommendations on where to get any kinda non prescription glasses? i also have sensitive eyes... orz
I do but they're just shitty $10 ebay sunglasses that don't do much at all :')
A while ago I did some research to find out what to look for in sunglasses for particularly light sensitive eyes, and the best ones are polarized, mirrored, and category 3 or 4. Light protection lenses come in "categories" with 0 being basically no UV protection at all (think general seeing eye glasses), cat.1 having light tinting but not much protection, cat.2 being basic/standard sunglasses, 3 being really good, and 4 being "don't drive while wearing these" lol
Unfortunately, glasses that have all of these are expensive as all hell... Ones I had written down are Ray-Bans' Flash Polarised glasses or their Chromance range... Someone else I found recommended green-tinted glasses helping a lot and those are generally more affordable than friggin Ray-Bans. Black and dark grey lenses work best for me too, even if the UV protection on my sunglasses isn't the best. Aviators look cool as hell but they tend to slide down my nose after a while and don't have protection on the sides so light still gets in from certain angles
My best pair of glasses right now are these things:
"Retro Steampunk Sunglasses Side Shield Vintage Metal Round Eyewear Glasses," $10 on ebay (there are a lot of sellers of these and they're all the exactly the same—don't pay more than $10 for them). They've held up surprisingly well and seem to have nearly indestructible lenses; I throw them into my pocket regularly when I'm out haha Those side shields are awesome too. Biggest downside (?) is that they get compared to a lot of things...
(Crowley Good Omens, Alucard Hellsing, Ozzy Osbourne)
So uh... That can be good or bad depending on your aesthetic choices lol
These Heron Mountain shades by Vallon seem pretty good and decently priced, but the side shields limit vision and I wanna see if I can find sunglasses like these without vision-limiting sides for maybe a lower price first. If I do, I'll be sure to post about it on here
#asks#Recently I found out that Wellbutrin can cause photosensitivity so basically buying better sunglasses is inevitable for my vampiric ass#If I'm outside for more than a couple hours my eyes get really sore from the light even with my current sunglasses x_x

(Image ID: text reading "the sun is a deadly lazer" from a video by Bill Wurtz. End ID)
For the non-Aussies among us: remember to SLIP SLOP SLAP SEEK SLIDE! This is an Australian government campaign that has worked on me and I am fine with that because it is HELPFUL!
(Image ID: a poster with the heading "Be SunSmart". It reads: Here are 5 simple ways to best protect your skin from harmful UV rays when outdoors.
Slip on covering clothing. Cover as much skin as possible. For best protection, choose: Shirts with high collars or high necks, and sleeves; Trousers or longer shorts and skirts that come to below the knees.
Slop on sunscreen. Use SPF 30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen. Reapply sunscreen every two hours.
Slap on a hat. Wear a broad-brimmed hat or one that covers your head, face, neck, and ears.
Seek shade. Use trees, built shade structures, or bring your own!
Slide on some sunglasses. Sunglasses should be close fitting and worn outside during daylight hours.
End ID.)
My notes:
Light clothing reflects sunlight best, and will keep you cooler! Bonus if it's natural fibres such as linen and cotton, as they breathe better. Loose-fitting but well-covering skirts, sleeves, and pant legs will also keep you cooler—think traditional clothing in Middle Eastern countries. It tends to be long, loose, and pale. It's tried and true!
Remember to let sunscreen have time to soak in (~15 minutes is the ideal, but I'm not certain), and remove wristwatches, wide jewellery, or anything else that might get in the way of properly applying the sunscreen. If you don't like the smell of normal sunscreen, there are alternatives that don't smell as strong (usually marketed towards kids). Sunscreen is bloody important, don't let it fall to the wayside. Remember to get your face and the back of your neck, hands, and legs.
And remember to get polarised sunglasses. Sunglasses that aren't polarised are more likely to hurt your eyes—if they tint your vision darker, then your pupils will expand, but non-polarised sunnies won't protect your eyes from UV rays, thus making things worse in the long run. You can tell if sunnies are polarised if, when you look at a digital screen and tilt your head sideways, it goes significantly darker or black. Here's a list of ways to tell that I found, actually:
(Image ID: Poster titled "How to tell if your sunglasses are polarised". It reads:
Check for a test sticker. If your sunglasses are new, look at the test tag or sticker through the lens, and rotate the lens to a 60º angle. If the tag gets darker, then you know your glasses are polarised.
Find a reflective surface. Hold your glasses so that you are viewing the surface through one of the lenses. Then, rotate the glasses to a 60º angle, and see if the glare gets better or worse. If the sunglasses are polarised, the glare will diminish.
Compare two pairs. Look through two pairs of sunglasses at the same time, and rotate one pair 60º to the other. If both pairs are polarised, the overlapping lenses will become darker. If this doesn't happen, at least one pair is not polarised.
Turn on a computer. Polarised lenses and most computer screens use the same anti-glare technology. Look through your lenses at the screen, and rotate your glasses to a 60º angle. If they're polarised, the lenses will turn black.
Assess your view. Use the polarised lens simulator below to see what your view should look like. If your lenses are polarised, glare disappears, colours brighten, and visibility becomes crystal clear.
End ID)
OH ALSO. If you have darker skin or don't burn, you still need to stay sun safe!! You might not burn easily or at all, but that doesn't mean you aren't getting UV rays. Melanin will not protect you from skin cancer.
N.B.: The clothing tips are for hot + dry environments. YMMV in humid areas.
N.B. the second: You're being exposed to UV rays regardless of if it's warm or not. You can get sunburned in winter (though you're less likely to, because you tend to be wearing more clothes). It's best practice to stay out of the sun even if it's cold or cloudy.
be pro-aging but wear sun screen. sun protection is not beauty industry propaganda it will save you. wear it. or else.
#sun safety#no i will NOT get off my high horse about this. This is important to me#(also note: melanin apparently protects you a bit but it is still not 100% and you should still wear sunscreen even if you have dark skin)

Protecting Your Eyes After Cataract Surgery: How Long to Wear Dark Glasses Outdoors?
Cataract surgery is one of the most commonly performed and successful eye surgeries all over the globe. It removes a cloudy lens from an eye to restore clear vision. Although the surgery is short and painless, also post-surgery care is needed for full recovery and healing. One key aspect of this care is protecting your eyes from bright light, that’s where dark glasses come in.
This blog will elaborate on how long you have to stay outdoors with your dark glasses after cataract surgery. Whether you are preparing for surgery or are in your recovery process, the precautions will protect your eyes from further damage and keep your process smooth. For those seeking expert care, it’s worth considering an eye specialist in Trivandrum or visiting the best eye clinic in Trivandrum for professional guidance.
Why Are Dark Glasses Necessary After Cataract Surgery?
Your eyes will be more sensitive to light right after surgery. It is because the natural lens of the eye, which tends to filter some of the light as it enters, was removed. The IOL(intraocular lens) is made to provide clear vision but may not block UV light as well as the natural lens does. It means that the eyes need protection against harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays and bright light, especially when outdoors.
Wearing dark glasses with UV protection helps minimise glare and shields the eyes from direct intense light. Other than reducing discomfort, it prevents damage to the healing tissue.
How Long Should You Wear Dark Glasses?
Usually, all patients are recommended to wear dark glasses outside for at least one or two weeks after cataract surgery. Of course, this depends on your conditions, the artificial lens type implanted and your sensitivity to light. Some patients become light-sensitive for a longer period so they need dark glasses for more weeks.
Your eye specialist in Trivandrum or the best eye doctor in Trivandrum will always advise according to the pace of your recovery. It is very important to follow their prescription as eyes must be well protected and cured.
What Type of Dark Glasses Should You Wear?
Not all sunglasses offer protection. The best protection will be when you put on glasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB radiation to minimise the possibility of any hazard caused by solar radiation exposure to your eyes. In addition, polarised lenses reduce glare when engaging in outdoor activities and therefore are more relaxing. The best eye clinic in Trivandrum or any “eye hospital near me in Trivandrum” will recommend or provide suitable protective eyewear.
You can also invest in wrap-around sunglasses, the side protection they provide prevents harmful light from entering at the edges.
Additional Precautions After Cataract Surgery
While wearing dark glasses is a point, it's one of the several aspects of post-operative care. Here are some other must-follow precautions:
Do not rub your eyes – After cataract surgery, you are strictly not allowed to rub your eyes because this increases pressure on them, and may react adversely to healing.
Use prescribed eye drops – In most cases, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops are prescribed by your eye doctor to prevent infection and diminish swelling.
Follow the advice of your eye doctor about activities –Avoid heavy lifting, bending over, or any physical exercise for the first week.
Avoid dusty or windy places –Dust and wind are not good for your healing eyes. If you need to go outside where this is prevalent, wear protective glasses or goggles.
Schedule follow-ups - In many cases, the doctors at eye hospitals near me in Trivandrum or in the clinic you have selected are essential to monitor the healing process.
Laser Eye Surgery in Trivandrum: A Technological Edge
If you are considering laser-assisted cataract surgery, Trivandrum has numerous advanced facilities equipped with the most up-to-date technology. The result of laser eye surgery would be much better if conducted with more accuracy. Also, clinics that have gained good patient reviews are a great option to consider while opting for care. Clinics such as the best eye clinic in Trivandrum or eye hospitals with the latest technology in Trivandrum like Precise Eye Care can offer comprehensive treatment plans to suit your needs.
Whether you’re recovering from traditional cataract surgery or the latest laser procedures, affordable eye care in Trivandrum like Precise Eye Care ensures that high-quality treatment is accessible to everyone.

Cataract surgery can improve your quality of life by restoring clear vision, but proper post-operative care is essential for a smooth recovery. Wednesday, November 13 — What’s in Your Closet? Come up with fifteen significant clothing items from your character’s wardrobe/life and describe them in detail. Feel free to combine these into full outfits!
Behold! Some key items from Hercules' wardrobe!
Descriptions Below!
Row 1: Sports Gear. Obviously Hercules spends most of his life in sports gear, but these are a few items of particular significance to him!
Reflective Running Jacket - Not only a safety necessity when tackling the Swynlake trails of the backroads of the farmlands, this reflective Gilet was a gift from his parents back when he was about 22. He wouldn't really have needed one if he was moving back to London, and his parents investing the money in it was a sign to him that they were ok with him staying in Swynlake.
Lucky PB socks - Dino-socks = free speed. Herc wears these during competitions, or attempts at breaking a PB, they're his lucky socks (although he doesn't actually remember where he got them, maybe a secret santa or something?)
NTO Tornados Competition Vest - Hercules very rarely competes in Athletics competitions but he is technically of the member of the freshly-made-up Next-Town-Over Tornados! An Athletics club who enter competitions and coach youngsters etc. So when he competes, he wears his club strip with its glorious purple. More often he wears it when about to go absolute beast-mode on a training session.
Pride U Athletics Hoodie - Still just about hanging on, although the Pride U crest on the front has started peeling off, the PRIDE U ATHLETICS CLUB on the back is still going strong! It reminds him of his first real sense of belonging and all the fun he had there.
'Douchebag mode' Sunglasses (Oakley Sphaera Polarised Lens Sunglasses) - Considering Hercules is the least competitive Gym Rat, it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking he's not a viciously competitive intense human being. This is a mistake. He's just nicer about it. But after warming up, he goes into Super Intense Focus Mode (AKA Douchebag mode) because on the track there is no room for being Mr Nice Guy. The sunglasses are part of that. He slips them on and suddenly his eyes disappear and he's leaving you in the dust.
Row 2: Accessories. One part of Hercules' slow fashion glow-up journey has been actually bringing accessories into his outfits and just subtly classing things up a little that way.
Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Smartwatch - When you're as active as Herc, you need a proper tracker to keep up with it. This Garmin was top of the line when he bought it a few years back after a lot of saving up, but it's totally worth it for him. Its got EVERYTHING. Built in flashlight. Solar charging. Advanced fitness metrics so he can track almost every aspect of his training. This thing is hardcore.
Sun Cufflinks - Hercules bought these as a little detail for the Celestial themed prom, but now he'll often use them when having to dress up fancy for other occasions. They add a bit of class to an outfit (he thinks), and they make him smile. Its also a good reminder of Ken's advice on making outfits feel more 'him.'
His 'Thank god for boots' Boots. No surprise, Hercules is really more of a trainer guy. He's got a ridiculous number for all kinds of sporting activities and training, but sometimes trainers just won't cut it. He hates wearing smart shoes, they always seem to cut into the back of his ankle and its a whole headache when he gets blisters because they suck when he runs. But Ken helped him discover a world of new possibilities like ankle boots that look smart enough for a semi-formal event or business meeting, can help elevate a casual outfit, and don't cut his ankles to pieces!
Sunflower Ring - Another Prom holdover, this time from the Enchanted Garden, I think. Hercules and sunflowers is an ongoing love-affair, and again, this is now an accessory he'll add to lots of other outfits when dressing them up.
'Bruce's Sea Glass' Bracelet - Remember the bit of sea glass that Hercules found on the beach? The one that reminded him of Bruce and everything his friend inspired in him? Yeah. Hercules had it made into a bracelet. He wears it every day now. Its his constant reminder to himself to try to live by those values.
Row 3: The Statement Pieces. Herc's wardrobe still contains a lot of plain t-shirts and jeans, plus all his other athletic gear, but Ken did teach him to embrace some bolder pieces that would really define a look when paired with otherwise simple pieces, and Hercules really likes that. Also all of these tend to lean into different textures, which he has found he really enjoys.
Fisherman's Jumper - A find from From Farm To Table years ago now! This is one comfy, cosy, proper woollen jumper. Hercules loves it, it's perfect for throwing on over a t-shirt on a dry day to go to an event or running errands, or a hike, or for days curled on the sofa when the weather's crap.
Corduroy Shirt - Another that he can dress up or down, this dark green really suits his hair, and has a much softer edge than a shirt in other fabrics might have, which he appreciates because he feels like it makes him look a bit more comfortable and relaxed and not straining at the seams like some kind of hulk.
Velvet Blazer - Hercules has discovered over recent years that he really enjoys the texture of velvet. He finds the softness very comforting, especially when at events like Prom where he might otherwise get a bit anxious, plus he likes the darker colour palette it usually comes in.
Check Overshirt - Perfect for throwing on over things. Hercules' metabolism runs really fast because of his Gift and he usually runs quite warm, which means Autumn and Spring often see him trying not to wear heavy layers. Something like this he can just slip on and off as he needs, and again, dresses up an otherwise casual outfit with a bit of flair.
Denim Jacket - Ah his old staple, I should use it more. He found this at some Charity Shop a very long time ago, but its genuinely good quality denim and he likes that the lining makes it softer and warmer, so he can use it more in the winter. Often thrown over a white tee for a vintage look.

Polarised Sunglasses
Polarised sunglasses or anti glare lenses prevent the horizontal sun rays and reduce light glare and eyestrain. This quality makes them sun safe and they improve vision as well. To understand how anti glare lenses work, firstly we should know the working of UV rays. Sun rays are non- uniform and the sun rays which meets our eyes is scattered as it is reflected from an uneven surface i.e rock, grass and ground surface. But when these sun rays are reflected from an even and smooth surface like the surface of a calm body of water or the hood of a car, the light is reflected in one direction causing distraction which damages glare.
Fun fact - The first polarised sunglasses were made in 1936 by Edwin H. Land who experimented with lenses and uses his patented polarised lens.
Sunglasses are meant to protect against UV rays and light glare but polarized sunglasses are specifically made to obstruct intense glare while allowing only a limited amount of light to pass through them.
But what is Glare ?
Glare is excessive and intense light formed in the field of vision. It causes discomfort and reduces visibility. Older people are much more sensitive to glare due to ageing of the eye. Glare can hinder person’s vision ability to distinguish objects, though for a temporary phase of time.
Benefits of Polarised Sunglasses
When in outdoor, it completely cuts out glare proving it safe for day driving, outdoor exercise and any activity including water as it improves visibility .
It provides complete protection from UV A and UV B rays which are harmful for our eye health and can cause long term effects.
It improves clarity and can make an already beautiful natural scenery more vibrant and colorful, as any reflection is prevented by these glasses to pass through.
They can reduce eye strain to a max level. As polarised glasses can reduce unnecessary glare, it causes less fatigue which ultimately causes less to no eye strain.
Another important use of this lens can be seen in day driving. Glares from the sun reflected off surfaces can make driving hazardous, specially during sunrise and sunset. Polarised Sunglasses cut out these glare and provides more clear vision adding to your safety.
Polarised Sunglasses are useful for everyday and most of the people but here are some specific situations where it can be utilised to it’s maximum potential –
Fishing – polarised sunglasses cut out glare after sun rays reflect from a water surface. With polarised sunglasses on one can actually see into the water. Ultimately lens tint also affect fishing and your vision. Grey tinted lenses are best sunny days as the colour transmits all colours of the spectrum creating less distortion in open waters. Copper tint absorbs blue light and increases contrast making it perfect for sight fishing. Amber colour is best for low light condition maybe on an heavily overcast day. Apparently, the lens material also add in the effectiveness of the lens. Glass although expensive provides the clearest vision and is smudge proof. Polycarbonate is lightweight and impact resistant. Acrylic is moderately durable reflecting over 99% of the glare. Polarised Sunglasses works best when you look into the water at an angle and not straight down.
Snowy Environment – as polarised glasses cut down glare reflected from the snow surface, it can be useful in a snowy area. These can protect you from snow blindness aka photokeratitis during winter season. Snow blindness can cause discomfort in eye due to prolonged exposure to UV rays. Polarised Sunglasses come in handy during these rough conditions.
Buying polarised sunglasses will be a wise choice and best if you’re outdoor activities such as fishing, trekking, skiing and generally driving.

How Do Luxury Sunglasses Offer Superior UV Protection?
Luxury sunglasses are more than just a fashion statement; they are an essential investment in eye health. One of the most critical features of luxury sunglasses is their superior UV protection, which offers more than just aesthetic appeal. This blog delves into how luxury sunglasses provide exceptional UV protection, examining various aspects such as lens technology, materials, and design features that contribute to their effectiveness.
Understanding UV radiation and its risks
What is UV radiation?
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the sun. It is categorised into three types: UVA, UVB, and UVC. UVA rays have the longest wavelength and can penetrate deeper into the skin, leading to premature ageing and skin damage. UVB rays, with a shorter wavelength, are primarily responsible for sunburn and can contribute to skin cancer. UVC rays are the most harmful but are mostly absorbed by the Earth’s atmosphere and do not reach the surface.
Understanding the types of UV radiation is crucial for comprehending why UV protection in sunglasses is essential. Both UVA and UVB rays can cause significant damage to the eyes, including cataracts, macular degeneration, and other forms of eye strain. Luxury sunglasses are designed to offer comprehensive protection against these harmful rays, ensuring that your eyes are safeguarded from long-term damage.
Why UV protection is important
UV protection is critical for maintaining eye health, as prolonged exposure to UV rays can lead to serious conditions. UV radiation can accelerate the development of cataracts, a clouding of the eye's lens that can impair vision. It can also contribute to macular degeneration, which affects the central vision and can lead to blindness. Additionally, UV exposure can cause photokeratitis, a painful condition akin to sunburn on the cornea.
Luxury sunglasses are designed with advanced UV-blocking technologies to mitigate these risks. By investing in high-quality sunglasses with superior UV protection, you are taking a proactive step toward preserving your eye health and preventing potential long-term damage.
Premium Lens Materials for Enhanced UV Protection
High-quality lens materials
Luxury sunglasses often use premium lens materials that provide superior UV protection. One such material is polycarbonate, known for its impact resistance and inherent UV-blocking properties. Polycarbonate lenses naturally absorb UV radiation, reducing the need for additional coatings. Another high-quality material used is Trivex, which combines optical clarity with UV protection and durability.
These materials not only enhance UV protection but also offer better clarity and visual comfort. Unlike lower-quality lenses, premium materials used in luxury sunglasses ensure that you receive comprehensive protection without compromising on optical performance. The choice of lens material plays a significant role in the overall effectiveness of UV protection.
Advanced lens coatings
In addition to high-quality materials, luxury sunglasses often feature advanced lens coatings that enhance UV protection. These coatings can include UV-absorbing layers that block 100% of UV radiation, ensuring that your eyes are fully protected. Some luxury brands also incorporate anti-reflective coatings to reduce glare and improve visual comfort.
These coatings are meticulously applied to ensure uniform protection across the entire lens surface. The added layers not only improve UV blocking but also enhance the durability and longevity of the lenses. By investing in sunglasses with advanced coatings, you ensure that your eyewear provides optimal protection and clarity.
Polarised lenses and UV protection
How Polarisation Works
Polarised lenses are designed to reduce glare from reflective surfaces, such as water or roads. They achieve this by filtering out horizontally polarised light, which is responsible for causing glare. While polarisation primarily enhances visual comfort and clarity, it also complements UV protection.
Polarised lenses are often combined with UV-blocking technologies to offer comprehensive protection. The polarisation helps reduce glare, which can contribute to eye strain and discomfort, while the UV protection safeguards your eyes from harmful rays. This combination ensures that you have clear vision and are protected from both glare and UV radiation.
The advantages of polarised lenses
Luxury sunglasses with polarised lenses provide several benefits beyond UV protection. They enhance visual clarity and contrast, making them ideal for outdoor activities such as driving, fishing, or skiing. Polarised lenses can also reduce eye fatigue and improve overall comfort by minimising glare.
In addition to these benefits, polarised lenses with UV protection ensure that your eyes are shielded from harmful rays while providing a clearer view of your surroundings. This dual benefit makes polarised luxury sunglasses a valuable investment for both visual comfort and eye health.
Frame design and UV protection
Importance of Frame Coverage
The design of the sunglasses frame plays a crucial role in UV protection. Luxury sunglasses often feature wraparound or oversized frames that provide better coverage and prevent UV rays from entering around the edges of the lenses. This design ensures that your eyes are protected from UV exposure from all angles.
Wraparound frames are particularly effective in blocking UV rays that can reach the eyes from the sides. This comprehensive coverage enhances the overall effectiveness of UV protection and provides a more secure fit. Luxury sunglasses with thoughtfully designed frames offer superior protection by minimising gaps and ensuring that your eyes are fully shielded.
Ergonomic and adjustable designs
Luxury sunglasses often come with ergonomic and adjustable designs that ensure a comfortable fit while maximising UV protection. Adjustable nose pads and temple tips allow for a customised fit, reducing the likelihood of gaps where UV rays can enter. These design features enhance comfort and ensure that the sunglasses stay securely in place during various activities.
The ability to adjust the fit also helps prevent slippage, which can compromise UV protection. A well-fitted pair of sunglasses ensures that the lenses cover the eyes completely and there are no gaps through which UV rays can penetrate. Luxury brands invest in these design features to provide both superior protection and optimal comfort.
UV Protection Standards and Certifications
Industry standards for UV protection
Luxury sunglasses adhere to strict industry standards for UV protection to ensure that they offer effective shielding against harmful rays. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) set guidelines for UV protection in eyewear. Sunglasses that meet these standards are tested for their ability to block UV radiation and provide adequate protection.
Luxury brands often exceed these minimum standards to offer enhanced protection. By adhering to stringent guidelines and conducting rigorous testing, luxury sunglasses ensure that they deliver superior UV blocking performance. These standards provide assurance that the sunglasses will effectively shield your eyes from harmful UV radiation.
Certification and Testing
Many luxury sunglasses come with certifications that validate their UV protection claims. These certifications are obtained through third-party testing and verification by independent laboratories. The tests ensure that the sunglasses meet or exceed the required UV protection levels and provide reliable shielding against UV radiation.
Certification and testing provide added confidence in the quality and effectiveness of luxury sunglasses. By choosing eyewear with recognised certifications, you are ensuring that you invest in a product that has been rigorously evaluated for UV protection and overall performance.
UV protection is durable and long-lasting.
UV protection's longevity
Luxury sunglasses are designed to provide long-lasting UV protection. The UV-blocking coatings and lens materials used in high-quality sunglasses are engineered to withstand prolonged exposure to sunlight without degrading. This ensures that the sunglasses continue to offer effective UV protection over time.
Unlike lower-quality sunglasses, luxury eyewear maintains its UV-blocking capabilities throughout its lifespan. The UV protection is durable, ensuring that your investment in luxury sunglasses provides ongoing benefits and protection for your eyes. Proper care and maintenance also contribute to the longevity of the UV protection.
Impact of Lens Scratches and Damage
Scratches and damage to the lenses can affect the UV protection provided by sunglasses. Luxury sunglasses are constructed with durable materials and coatings that resist scratching and impact. However, it is essential to handle and store the sunglasses properly to prevent damage.
Luxury brands often incorporate scratch-resistant coatings and protective features to maintain the integrity of the UV protection. By taking care of your sunglasses and avoiding damage, you ensure that the UV protection remains effective and that your eyes are consistently shielded from harmful rays.
Aesthetic Considerations and UV Protection
Balancing Style and Functionality
Luxury sunglasses often balance style and functionality, ensuring that aesthetic appeal does not compromise UV protection. High-end brands design sunglasses with both visual appeal and advanced UV-blocking technologies, offering eyewear that looks excellent while providing superior protection.
The integration of fashion and functionality allows you to choose sunglasses that reflect your personal style while ensuring that your eyes are protected from UV radiation. Luxury brands invest in design innovation to create sunglasses that are both stylish and effective in safeguarding your eye health.
Customisation and Personalisation
Many luxury brands offer customisation and personalisation options for sunglasses, allowing you to select frames, lenses, and colours that suit your preferences. Customisation options often include choices for lens tints, coatings, and frame materials, ensuring that you can tailor the sunglasses to your specific needs while maintaining superior UV protection.
Personalised luxury sunglasses provide a unique blend of style and function, allowing you to create eyewear that is both aesthetically pleasing and highly effective in UV protection. The ability to customise ensures that you receive a product that meets your individual requirements while offering comprehensive eye protection.
The Role of Brand Reputation in UV Protection
Established brands and quality assurance
Reputable luxury brands are known for their commitment to quality and performance. Established brands invest in research and development to create sunglasses that meet high standards for UV protection. Their reputation for excellence often reflects the effectiveness of their UV-blocking technologies.
By choosing sunglasses from well-known luxury brands, you are assured of the quality and reliability of the UV protection offered. These brands have a track record of delivering high-performance eyewear that provides superior protection against UV radiation.
Customer Reviews and Experiences
Customer reviews and experiences can provide valuable insights into the UV protection offered by luxury sunglasses. Positive feedback from users who have experienced the benefits of superior UV protection can validate the eyewear's effectiveness.
Luxury brands often have a loyal customer base that attests to the quality and performance of their sunglasses. Reading reviews and testimonials can help you make an informed decision and choose sunglasses that offer the level of UV protection you need.
Comparing Luxury Sunglasses to Standard Options
Advantages of Luxury Sunglasses
Luxury sunglasses offer several advantages over standard options when it comes to UV protection. The use of premium materials, advanced coatings, and rigorous testing ensures that luxury sunglasses provide superior shielding against harmful UV rays. Additionally, the attention to design and craftsmanship enhances both comfort and effectiveness.
Investing in luxury sunglasses means prioritising both style and functionality. The advanced technologies and high-quality materials used in luxury eyewear ensure that you receive the best possible protection for your eyes while enjoying a fashionable accessory.
Considerations for standard sunglasses
While standard sunglasses may offer basic UV protection, they often lack the advanced features found in luxury options. Standard sunglasses may use lower-quality materials and coatings that provide less comprehensive protection. They may not meet luxury sunglasses' rigorous standards and certifications.
For those seeking superior UV protection and enhanced performance, luxury sunglasses are a worthwhile investment. The benefits of advanced technologies and high-quality construction outweigh the cost differences, ensuring that you receive optimal protection for your eyes.
The Impact of UV Protection on Overall Eye Health
Long-Term Eye Health Benefits
Proper UV protection is essential for maintaining long-term eye health. Chronic exposure to UV radiation can lead to serious conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and skin cancer around the eyes. By investing in sunglasses with superior UV protection, you are taking proactive steps to prevent these issues and preserve your vision.
Luxury sunglasses with advanced UV-blocking technologies provide effective protection that reduces the risk of developing UV-related eye conditions. Regular use of high-quality eyewear helps protect your eyes from harmful rays and supports overall eye health.
Immediate Comfort and Protection
In addition to long-term benefits, luxury sunglasses offer immediate comfort and protection. The high-quality lenses and coatings reduce glare and improve visual clarity, making outdoor activities more enjoyable. Enhanced comfort and reduced eye strain contribute to a better overall experience while ensuring that your eyes are protected from UV radiation.
The Role of Technology in UV Protection
Innovations in Lens Technology
Advancements in lens technology play a crucial role in enhancing UV protection. Innovations such as photochromic lenses, which darken in response to sunlight, provide additional protection by adapting to varying light conditions. Similarly, polarised lenses reduce glare and improve visual comfort while offering UV protection.
Luxury sunglasses often incorporate these technological advancements to provide superior performance. The integration of cutting-edge technologies ensures that you receive the best possible protection and visual clarity.
Research and Development
Luxury brands invest in research and development to continuously improve UV protection technologies. Ongoing research leads to the development of new materials, coatings, and lens designs that enhance the effectiveness of UV protection. By choosing sunglasses from brands that prioritise innovation, you benefit from the latest advancements in eyewear technology.
Conclusion: Investing in Quality UV Protection
Choosing luxury sunglasses with superior UV protection is an investment in both style and eye health. The combination of high-quality materials, advanced coatings, and innovative technologies ensures that you receive comprehensive protection against harmful UV rays. By prioritising UV protection in your eyewear choices, you are taking proactive steps to safeguard your vision and enjoy enhanced visual comfort.
Whether you are seeking fashion-forward designs or advanced performance features, luxury sunglasses offer the best of both worlds. The investment in high-quality eyewear provides long-term benefits and ensures that your eyes are protected from the sun’s harmful rays while enjoying a stylish accessory.

Behind the Scenes: How Custom Sunglasses Manufacturers Bring Your Vision to Life
Custom shades have become an important fashion accessory, merging fashion with practicality. For many, they represent a completely unique combination of private expression and useful eyewear. But what precisely is going into the introduction of these bespoke pieces? The adventure from concept to completed product entails a meticulous manner that combines superior technology, professional craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of consumer wishes and options. Here’s an in-depth study of how custom sun shades manufacturers bring your vision to life.
The introduction of custom sun shades begins with layout thought. This initial segment is possibly the maximum creatively severe, because it entails translating a client’s vision into a tangible layout. Designers paint closely with clients to apprehend their aesthetic alternatives, purposeful necessities, and any particular layout factors they wish to contain. This collaboration can contain targeted sketches and digital mock-ups, which assist to visualize the final product. Advanced design software program performs an essential function right here, bearing in mind specific adjustments and refinements.
With substances chosen, the producing system begins. This degree involves several complicated steps, starting with the cutting of body components. Advanced CNC (pc numerical manipulate) machines are usually used to reduce and form the frame elements with excessive precision. This era lets in for tricky designs and guarantees consistency across a couple of pieces. For acetate frames, the material is frequently cut into skinny sheets after which they are shaped into the favoured form through a method of heating and moulding.
Handcrafting remains a vital part of the procedure, particularly for luxury and excessive-give-up custom shades. Skilled artisans meticulously report, sand, and polish the frames to gain a perfect finish. This arms-on approach ensures that each pair of sunglasses meets the highest standards of great and craftsmanship. Details, together with hinge placement and nose pad adjustments, are cautiously finished to ensure a cushy shape.
The lenses, a vital factor of any pair of sun shades, undergo a further rigorous process. After being cut to the precise shape required by means of the body design, lenses are polished to ensure optical clarity. They are then covered with various treatments to enhance overall performance. Anti-reflective coatings lessen glare, even as hydrophobic coatings repel water and dust, preserving clarity and cleanliness. Polarised lenses, distinctly renowned for their potential to lessen glare from reflective surfaces, are created through a specialised procedure that embeds a polarising movie inside the lens material.
Customization doesn’t stop with the manufacturing system. Many custom sun shades manufacturers provide engraving or embossing offerings, allowing customers to feature private touches which includes initials, logos, or particular patterns. This provides an extra layer of personalization, making each pair sincerely particular.
Packaging is some other essential attention. High-cease custom sun shades often come with bespoke packaging that displays the excellent and exclusivity of the product. This can encompass steeply-priced cases, cleansing cloths, and even custom-designed containers that enhance the general presentation and make the unboxing experience special.
The upward thrust of virtual structures has considerably impacted the custom sun shades enterprise. Online gear and digital try-on technologies allow clients to peer how specific designs will look on their face before making a purchase. These improvements have made custom sun shades extra on hand, permitting purchasers to test with specific styles and make extra knowledgeable choices.
In conclusion, the journey from concept to creation of custom sunglasses is a complicated and multifaceted system that combines artwork, technology, and technology. From the initial design phase to cloth choice, manufacturing, and very last customization, every step is meticulously finished to make sure that the very last product now not simplest meets but exceeds customer expectancies. The end result is a couple of sun shades that aren’t most effective, useful and elegant but additionally a true reflection of the wearer’s persona and vision. Through innovation and craftsmanship, custom sunglasses manufacturers carry man or woman visions to lifestyles, developing eyewear that is as particular as the people who wear them.

They do need to be gotten rid of but that will take time and effort, and UNTIL they are gotten rid of, we need to be able to employ short-term solutions while we work on a long-term solution.
Implying people shouldn't do what they can to adapt to avoid them (like blocking via polarising sunglasses) because "we should get rid of them" is unconscionable as well.
Blocking so they stop harming/distracting is 100% valid and in some people's cases it's outright necessary.
It also doesn't stop efforts to get rid of them entirely. This would be like seeing someone say "I only really drive when I need to so I don't spend as much money on gas" and then going "That's not right, we should be working to lower gas prices instead!" as if the former prevents the latter or hinders the efforts somehow.
You can adapt to a bad situation and still work towards ending that bad situation. Telling people they're wrong for offering tips/advice on how to adapt is a pretty poor way to go about it, especially if you want real change to happen, because the people offering tips/advice on how to adapt are usually the same ones going "yeah we can work around it, but it's still a problem" and are usually working towards a real solution in one way or another.
We gotta do something about billboards. We can't keep having those hideous things ruining the landscape.

Re thinking prizes
As my feedback highlighted the “free drinks” element of my idea to be weak, I wanted to rethink what prizes could be given out. I wanted to make something that was more relevant to skin safety, self expression and festivals- which lead me to think about wearables.
These articles helped me see that hats and sunglasses are necessities at festivals, both as a style choice and for their sun protection. They act as both a protector, whilst being a fun way for people to spread awareness of the brand, of their skin confidence, and have fun.
I researched into trending styles and aesthetics for Gen Z, which lead me to find Y2K raver styles. This included razor sunglasses and bucket hats, which are both staples for any gender.
I wanted to take the cheeky humour from these “I <3 hot moms” top into “hotstuff” as it is already a playful brand. This brand is well loved by Gen Z audiences, and is an inside joke between them. By changing the wording to “I <3 my hot stuff”, this again, carries the message of self celebration, and self confidence. It alludes to “hot stuff” skin, which pulls everything back to the main message of this brand.
This is when I decided to start exploring ways of creating my own hats and sunglasses, looking at what was trending, what is relevant and what is fitting.
After reflecting on these hats, I decided to go for the bucket hat as opposed to the cowboy hat. This is more universal of a design and more gender neutral, whilst still being fun and protective. I did, however, also want to create another gift as a prize- looking at creating sunglasses.
I took inspiration from the 'raver glasses' and 'Y2K' aesthetic that is still trending with Gen Z, thinking about making my own. I wanted them to be on brand, but also to be polarised- so they could wear them in and outside of the festival- still being trendy.
I think these two outcomes make the project a lot more considered, and support the protection of skin + celebration. By having these wearables, this creates a real incentive for people to take care of their skin, and is a really fun way for them to express themselves.

Spider Quinn 03: Comes Great Responsibility - Part 3
As Amy and Daria talked, Helen talked to her mother.
“Do you know what happened?” Theresa Barksdale asked.
“Just that there was an attempted carjacking.”
“It seems Lawndale is not as safe as you thought it was.”
“Oh no! It was more likely to happen in Highland, than here. It can happen in any town. Our moving to Lawndale is not responsible,” Helen answered.
“According to the latest news, the crime rate is increasing.”
“Where are you getting that information?”
“I have been getting the Sun Herald delivered,” Theresa answered.
“I see.”
“Anyway, I can tell you that it does get easier, with time…”
And so, the day continued, with each survivor of the Lawndale Morgendorffers unloading in a healthy or not so healthy way.
Helen continued taking and making calls, reflecting on how Jake helped her not feel lonely in College and later on, in the Commune.
“…That sounds right,” Willow Yeager considered. “You two completed each other, and now you’re bereft. But you don’t have to be alone. You can always call Coyote and I.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Helen responded.
Daria and Jane hung out together, much as they usually did. Daria told Jane of the good times, she and her father had when she was younger, although she considered them to be few and far between.
“I don’t think they were,” Jane said as she looked at the afternoon shadows in the backyard. “But then, my experience is atypical.”
Daria nodded. “Still, knowing that is all that there will be, does make me sad.”
Jane nodded. “Still, I’ll need to be going. Ms. Li allowed me to skip school today, but I don’t know about tomorrow.”
“True.”
However, Quinn was still taking it quite hard, no matter what Stacy and Sandi were saying, or not saying. As they got ready to go, they knew that Quinn was going to continue taking it hard.
The next day, Daria was back at school, but Quinn wasn’t.
“…And that’s why Quinn isn’t in today,” Helen said.
“I see, Mrs. Morgendorffer. However, I expect her to be back as soon as possible.”
“She’ll be back when I think she’s ready.”
Lawndale Sun-Herald
Thursday November 8, 2000
Obituaries
Jacob Elias Morgendorffer
June 23, 1952 – November 4, 2000
Husband of Helen, Father of Daria and Quinn, Daughter of Ruth.
The Funeral was held on a snowy Tuesday.
The Morgendorffers weren’t religious in any way, although they were New Age during their Commune days. However, there was tradition. Jake’s mother, Ruth was still a regular Episcopalian parishioner. Therefore, the funeral was held at the local Episcopalian parish, St. Andrews.
Helen, Daria and Quinn arrived at the church and met Ruth and Jake’s sister Deborah. Theresa, Amy, Rita and Rita’s daughter Erin arrived shortly afterwards. There were a few others who had known Jake in Lawndale and elsewhere, but that was it.
After a hymn it was time for the Eulogies.
Helen was first.
“Jake was my partner. He was the father of my daughters. He was there for me no matter how hard it got during Law School…”
Then it was Ruth, followed by Daria.
But it was Quinn’s Eulogy that was the most hard hitting, as she poured out her raw emotion.
“…I will not forget the last words he said. For With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.”
After the funeral, Quinn knew that she had to do something. But she wasn’t sure. Her mother and Daria were going on with their lives, but she wasn’t sure. She opened her closet and laid her eyes on the SpiderGirl costume she had used that night. “With great power comes great responsibility,” she repeated to herself. She then produced some webbing and drew it out of the closet. “I know what I have to do!”
The next day, Helen brought breakfast to Quinn. “Are you going to school today?” she asked.
“Not today,” Quinn answered. “But maybe on Friday.”
“I see,” Helen said.
With her mother gone, Quinn re-opened her sketchbook and continued redesigning the suit. She came up with a skin-tight version, with polarised lenses. She had many old sunglasses she could use for that last item. She spent the morning making it.
However, there was a problem, her hair came out the bottom of it, even when tied back in two low buns. The rest of the suit worked well. Nothing showed that she didn’t want to show. She took the mask off. ‘Maybe the hair could come out as a ponytail, pigtails, or a bun?’ she wondered. She spent a while making another mask, to allow the hair to come through as either a ponytail or pigtails.
Another problem. She was sure that there weren’t too many redheads in Lawndale. “So, what is the average hair color and length at Lawndale High?” she asked after taking the mask off again. She grabbed her yearbook and started going through it.
“A light brown,” Quinn considered, in the mid afternoon, after her mother had brought her lunch. She wrote that in her sketchbook. “And shorter. I can live with that.” If she didn’t like it, she could re-grow it, and use a temporary dye. She quickly sketched a picture of herself with light brown hair, slightly shorter than Daria’s.
“Right. I’ll see if I can get an appointment at a salon tomorrow.”
And so, she left her room and went down to the kitchen to look in the telephone directory, as she wanted to use a different salon than the one she had used since she arrived in Lawndale.
“Quinn?” Helen asked when her younger daughter got off the phone.
“I want to try something new,” Quinn answered.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
“I just don’t want you acting rash at a difficult time.”
“I know.”
The next day, Quinn was nervous, but she also wanted it over with.
“So, you want like that?” the hairdresser asked, showing a magazine article.
“Yes. That shade of brown is cute, and not too similar to either of my friends’ shades,” Quinn answered. She didn’t want to be too similar to either Sandi or Stacy, given that the former would be even more of a rival and the latter would be even more panicky.”
“And you’re sure you want to go that short?”
“Yes!”
An hour later, Quinn walked out of the salon slightly refreshed. She knew the shorter hair would take some getting used to, but she had liked what she saw in the mirror. She headed straight home.
Daria was back from school by the time Quinn got home. Quinn entered and Daria thought for a brief moment that she was looking at a popular version of herself. Only the lack of glasses and their clothes really distinguished them from each other. “Oh!” she said.
“Is that all you can say?” Quinn asked.
“Not really. Just that you look more like me,” Daria said quietly.
“Not really, your hair is auburn,” Quinn responded. She ran her hand through her hair. “This is light brown.”
“There’s not much difference,” Daria shot back. She then went up the stairs with her afternoon snacks.
Quinn sighed. With her father gone, she wanted to at least get on better with Daria. She wasn’t sure when she first came to that realisation. She then headed up to her room.
Having put her suit on again, she put her hair up in pigtails. ‘Not too similar to Brittany,’ she thought. That was one reason why she didn’t go blonde, she supposed. She then put the mask on. ‘Perfect,’ she thought as she looked in the mirrors. The black and red of the suit, along with the barely shoulder length light brown pigtails looked very stylish. She looked outside. It was getting late and the sun was beginning to set. ‘Time to start,’ she thought. She opened the side window and then swung up on to the roof.
She looked out over Lawndale towards downtown and then set out to fight crime. She gave a yell as she jumped off the house from above her mother’s bedroom and swung away.
Officer Xanthe Peterson came to the scene, where a suspect was stuck in some kind of web. That was something she was unfamiliar with. She also saw a piece of paper attached. On it, in stylised writing was written; Courtesy of your Friendly Neighborhood SpiderGirl.
There was a sound above as of a thwip! She looked up and saw an obviously feminine figure wearing a concealing suit swinging away into the distance.

Which is better: polarized or gradient sunglasses?
Are you in the market for a new pair of sunglasses in Sri Lanka? Do you know which style to go with? You may have heard that one type of lens is better than another, but maybe you don’t know what exactly they were and which is better for you.
You can find sunglasses online in Sri Lanka with polarized lenses, designed to reduce glare by cutting out light reflected off surfaces like water and snow, while gradient lenses do not offer this protection. Polarized lenses cut through glare by using polarization filters that work horizontally rather than vertically (like gradient). These come into play when you're looking out over water or snow where the glare can hurt your eyes. Polarised men’s sunglasses in Sri Lanka are best for those people who are into extreme sports such as skiing or surfing. Gradient lenses are better for normal use by people who just want to wear sunglasses on an everyday basis.
Gradient lenses are made up of different layers, with the bottom being dark and the top light. This is because gradient sunglasses have one opacity level for both near-sightedness and farsightedness, the colouration will be lighter at the bottom and darker at the top. On a sunny day this can protect your eyes without having to wear glasses indoors or in low-light situations like driving. Gradient lenses typically do not offer as strong UV protection as polarized ones but most manufacturers design them to block 99%+ UVA/UVB rays.
While both these types of sunglasses can protect your eyes, which one is better? The answer will depend on what your requirement is; gradient lenses are good for everyday use while polarised sunglasses are best suited for people who take part in outdoor activities. Whichever one you choose however, make sure that you get a pair that is of good quality and will give your eyes the protection they need.
