Round 3 - Resurrect Bracket (Losers Bracket)
Tumblr media
ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in sure and certain hope of the Resurrection to [make it to the finals]
Propaganda below 猬囷笍
Hellboy Propaganda
He is literally the beast of the apocalypse. He was forcibly assigned catholic at birth, he deserves this. Now i know the rules said no demons, and that is fair. But here is my propaganda: he is a half-demon AND he absolutely does not want to end the world. He just wants to hang out and beat up monsters and work his job. But catholic guilt and apocalypse stuff always gets in the way. The comic books contain a ridiculous amount of religious imagery, the author was raised catholic, and passages from the bible are occasionally quoted. Hellboy is also portrayed as a messianic figure in conjunction with being an apocalyptic one. He uh, kind of becomes the savior of the new world and its like a whole thing. Catholic imagery appears frequently. Statues of the virgin mary, churches, etc. he also wears a literal cross on his belt, what can i say.
Okay here鈥檚 my rant. Hi, hello, propaganda. The last ten issues of the comic literally feature Hellboy going to hell and killing satan. He kills satan, fucks around in hell for a bit, and then blows everything up and its godamn tragic. Forcibly assigned catholic at birth. A bro did not ask for this it just happened. His mom was a witch but tried to become catholic after she died. Kind of a banger move. It didn鈥檛 work out for her but she gets points for trying. He tried real hard to save the world and it kind of worked but he did still die and go to hell. But not because he did anything bad, it was just kind of unavoidable. Again, he did blow the place the fuck up when he was done so. Respect.
Lapsed Catholic who is literally a half demon and also the rightful King of England that鈥檚 right he鈥檚 descended from King Arthur on his mother鈥檚 side.
Caesar Zeppeli Propaganda
(Spoiler for anyone who hasn鈥檛 JoJo鈥檇) man gets crushed by a cross shaped rock :(( cries. Also they should have made him do the cross at some point I think that would鈥檝e been fun. Oh also I saw someone draw him as the Fallen Angel painting once and I was like ???? bro is literally Catholic and a Good Guy why would you do this (no hate I just. I honestly have a thing with hating when people redraw good characters as that painting but it鈥檚 mostly the mental illness talking so whatever) this isn鈥檛 even related idk if this is a thing that should be typed here but. Also his birthday is on the Catholic feast day of Julian of Norwich my beloved I know this because it is Also My Birthday.
He鈥檚 Italian, he鈥檚 homoerotically involved with Joseph and somehow also divorced from him, he wears pastels, his go-to attack is bubbles, and he died being crushed by a giant rock shaped like a cross.

I don鈥檛 have any plans for more art this month (mainly because I have to work on some art for a history project), so here鈥檚 my summary of art for 2020!
I improved a lot this year, since 1) quarantine and 2) tumblr. I actually had a place where I could share my art, so it motivated me to draw more.
(Below is me talking about each drawing)
1. Octopath Traveler - Olberic Eisenberg聽
Now, technically it鈥檚 not just him. It was supposed to be Alex Beckham as him. I drew this having never played Octopath Traveler (although I do plan on getting it). I didn鈥檛 know how pressure sensitivity worked, I didn鈥檛 know how to shade or highlight, and it was overall a mess.
About the bow in the background: That was supposed to be another Internet Remix member as H鈥檃anit. I also drew JoJo as Tressa on that page, if I recall correctly.
2. Let鈥檚 build a campaign setting - Tatrasiel, the fallen angel of decay
I loved her, so I drew her. I just loved how she tried to be good, but kept forgetting she was a fallen angel. I feel really bad for her. :(
This was a mess. I tried to shade/highlight, but it turned out really bad. Plus, I had no idea how to draw wings.
3. Fallen Empires - Ravanala, the elven barbarian
Session 76 of Fallen Empires was quite sad, and I wanted to draw Ravanala in battle before she was sent to the astral plane. Again, this was another shading attempt that didn鈥檛 go well. I started to learn how to use actual drawing programs that weren鈥檛 Procreate. This was made in FireAlpaca64.
4. Fallen Empires DM and PCs
I wanted to draw something cool related to FE. This was another shading attempt that wasn鈥檛 awful, but it鈥檚 too faint. I didn鈥檛 know what colours I should鈥檝e used for shading so I ended up using dark purples for a while. The layers were not on multiply, because I didn鈥檛 know what multiply was. This was made in Medibang Paint Pro.
5. Fallen Empires - Lady Fomhar, an autumn eladrin
I drew this for Feytal, a song that I decided to add lyrics to. As you can see, the lighting is much better than the previous ones. I started to understand how lighting worked. My lineart became a bit smoother.
6. Fallen Empires - Korellian Veles/Hespera Scion/Trevlon Bluequill
Session 96(?) got really sad and Korellian ended up telling Skam about how they loved Trevlon, but felt conflicted, since their paladin oath is around reviving their wife. This ended up winning a Camp Streamix week.
7. High Hopes Low Rolls - Gwing Veloce, the half-elf rogue/ranger
I started watching HHLR, and decided to make art of one of the characters. This art of Gwing was one of the drawings that I used a soft brush for shading.
8. The Dragon Prince - Janai x Amaya (Janaya)
I love this ship so much. I also wanted to draw something gay. I didn鈥檛 put too much effort into the lighting, but I tried to draw better clothing folds on Amaya. I鈥檇 say it looks okay.
9. High Hopes Low Rolls - Paddock Whitlaw (screenshot redraw)
I basically replicated Alex鈥檚 art in the video, so I didn鈥檛 really do anything. It was mainly just me observing the original art and doing the exact thing in the redraw. However, the art did help me change things about my art style (mainly the way I draw noses). I made this in Clip Studio Paint PRO.
10. Call of Cthulhu: Masks of Nyarlathotep - Poster?
CoC started again on the IR channel, so I drew that! Comparing it to the Octopath Traveler art, you can see that my lineart, lighting, poses, and anatomy improved a lot. Lester was good for finding different brushes that I could use to shade.
11. She-ra and the Princesses of Power - Double Trouble
I love DT so much... this helped with lineart. If you can鈥檛 tell, I played around with pressure sensitivity. This was also good lighting practice.
12. Let鈥檚 build a campaign setting - Queen Psalm
I mainly did this to see if I could paint without a tutorial... and I did! This was lighting practice, and if you can鈥檛 tell, I actually used reds on some of the highlights because there鈥檚 a sunset. I don鈥檛 usually do highlights based on where the character is (even though I should). This was obviously also painting/lineless art practice.

Mmmm time to make something about me, I guess? So... I used to doodle a lot in school. Mostly anime girls (always girls, somehow) with big bright sparkly eyes, but sometimes other things, too. I never got really good at it. I dropped that habit somewhere between starting uni and dropping out of uni.
Fast forward something like four(?) years ago when I got into the youtube hole of digital painting timelapses, where I would watch sped-up painting processes and I thought, "I want that." So I went and bought a cheap drawing tablet and I went at it and made exactly two things (a portrait of Korra and something that in hindsight could only described as a la la land fanart even though that felt weird to type out) and then never touched it again. It just languished, gathering dust.
And then last week @slipsthrufingers reblogged a Witcher fanart that made me think of something else I want to draw* and I dug out the old tablet and its rusty-ass USB plug, bought new batteries for the pen, and made something**. It's not great (it couldn't be) but it's not bad, either. And then a few days after that I thought of drawing Cabanel's Fallen Angel (yes the Lucifer painting with the teardrop) except with my fav Locked Tomb character.
And I did.
And... it kind of slaps? I can pick out the flaws*** but I can also just talk about how I've never done anything like this. I've never drawn shadows this good. I've never drawn draped fabric this good. I've never painted anything with this level of concept and actually thinking, yeah this is what I want.
All of a sudden, after about four years of no art, I arted. And I arted quite well. Better than ever. And I have no idea what to do with this information except share it as a reblog on this tiktok, because he's right. Tiktok user ghosthoney is right. I never stopped being an art person. Which is weird because I never thought of myself as an artist. Ever.
But if I was never an artist, how did I accumulate art knowledge and skill in the years I didn't spend creating, and how did I apply them to the art I made recently?
I mean, what the hell?
*I want to draw the meeting on the turret stairs except with the Kdrama ship I'm obsessing over, but I'm waiting until I'm a bit more confident with my skill before I do that, because I don't want to overextend and quit
** it's a frame redraw of, you guessed it, said brainrot kdrama
*** I still have no idea how to render hair, but I'm determined to find out eventually
