Growing up in a dynasty of Star Wars fans where the lore is basically considered biblical means I experience so much turmoil and anguish
THIS STUPID SPACE FRANCHISE IS RUINING ME
also. there’s no way to tell from just watching the mandalorian which plot points have been developed in other shows (eg the din and grogu reunion in bobf, din revealing he took off his helmet to the armourer) and what plot points have simply been developed off-screen (eg din getting that piece of mandalore slag, bo-katan losing her fleet and people), encouraging the audience to have a particular relationship to the narrative where you have to accept all plot developments as potentially arbitrary, handed down to you by the author without explanation or foreshadowing. which at this point means the story means nothing except for what the writers decide on any given day, and you should not bother to anticipate anything because there’s a good chance that any plot point you become invested in will either be dropped entirely or revolved off-screen
#i started out as a moderate fan when i was a kid (i only liked the OT bc the prequels scared me)#(but i did watch CW episodes the day they came out)#and over the years my obsession w/ star wars has grown more and more intense#which means i can't be a normal person about it and i take everything too seriously#what i struggle w/ the most is this weirdly competitive mindset about liking star wars#it feels like all the people who've only been into it for a year or two but are writing complicated essays mean i'm not a good enough fan#i know this is a toxic mindset but i can't help getting jealous and defensive and sensitive about it#(i swear i'm super accepting and agreeable and chill irl)#BUT YEAH! BACK TO THE TOPIC!#disney really underestimates just how seriously us fans take star wars lore. sure it's ridiculous but that's why it became a phenomenon#sometimes disney only cares about using fanservice to carry an entire series
