freelance artists and stock photographers don't make a lot of money so it's unethical to make a service that automates their jobs (the problem is capitalism)
I actually see this one a lot and I donât really agree with it. Only point of contention I have with the overall post. I disagree because you can say the same if things like farming or fast food work. In fact, the idea that a given technology is bad because it âsteals jobsâ is a pretty common reactionary talking point and argument for either halting technological development or full blown primitivism. Itâs the argument the Luddites used.
The general argument for why this instance of the argument is right when the others are not is generally the amount of fulfillment one gets from art and the existential crisis of not being able to create things but thatâs literally the exact same argument used for ALL anti-automation stances. The argument that âwe should only automate menial labor so we can spend more time on creative pursuits that actually give fulfillmentâ doesnât work because 1) capitalism still means people suffer from job loss regardless of what the job actually is and 2) people DO find fulfillment in those jobs. Farming, mining, cleaning, fast food work, etc. are things that a fair few people would actually really like to continue doing. Heck, the original Luddites were artisans like blacksmiths and potters and wood carvers and such. These things are artwork in and of themselves, and automation has made them less ubiquitous. Yet nobody is saying making steak knives or bowls in a factory is immoral these days (except primitivists). The benefits as a whole for automation simply outweigh these issues.
The thing to remember is that the Luddites were actually wrong in the grand scheme of things. Every job I mentioned still exists. Blacksmithing, wood turning/carving, pottery making etc. are still around today. People can make quite a bit of money off of it. There are fundamental differences in hand made versus automated products, thereâs a lot of reasons youâd want to buy handmade.
I donât see why itâd be different for things like digital art or writing. It doesnât really matter how much AI stuff goes on the market, itâs going to be rather different than stuff people write, and people are still going to be interested in quality work a living artist has made. If we get to a point where AI stuff is actually GOOD, itâll still be different. You wonât go to it for the stuff you go to people for, I honestly donât think itâll even get to the point where it supplants traditional art. Companies really WANT it to be for money reasons but itâs REALLY not working. Itâll probably just end up being another niche in the greater art world. A tool in the kit.
Thereâs also the idea that people sometimes propose that because the labor issue is a problem with capitalism, the human economic cost is too high to allow this tech to be developed right now and we have to wait until we establish socialism or communism before we can pursue any more of this research and thatâs just⊠a really bad idea. Seriously I would need a whole other post to explain all the reasons why itâs a TERRIBLE idea to start banning scientific research until society is âreadyâ. You do NOT want anyone having the power to determine what counts as being âreadyâ for a certain technology to be developed. Itâs why I hate seeing that trope in fiction. There are so many ways that could go wrong.
on the other end the copyright argument against ai art is just so bad. I hate how that's the most common one people use, like I'm sorry but an interpretation of copyright law that classifies images made with generative ai as "plagiarism" or "theft" would be a worst-case scenario for everyone except the walt disney corporation

Product videography can transform your product views into sales.
What's so Special About our Product Videography? | Product video.
It has been proven that product videos strongly impact conversions and, more importantly, sales. However, saying, "We can make your product video," isn't enough. You need to know what makes our product videography eCommerce from the rest of the pack â and that's precisely what we've done here! We'll show you how we're different from other companies and why you should choose us for your next project.
A product video is a short video focusing on a specific product to inform viewers.
A product video is a short video focusing on a specific product to inform viewers. An excellent example of this type of content would be an instructional video, which teaches people how to use the product. The best way to do so is by providing high-quality images and sound while being concise with your messaging. Product videos are typically not meant to be entertainment or promote sales; they are intended to educate clients about what it takes to use or purchase a specific product. This is why we have been able to see such growth over the past few years when it comes down specifically to these types of videos; it's because people want more information before making any decisions regarding whether or not they should buy something from an online store (which is why many businesses today hire us).
What makes product videography unique?
Product videography is a great marketing strategy. It allows you to showcase your products in a short video focusing on one development at a time, giving viewers an in-depth look at what makes them unique. There are many ways that product videos can be used to promote your brand and educate customers. You can use them as advertisements, or you can use them to explain how certain features work or why theyâre essential for the customerâs convenience and ease of use. Product videos also effectively demonstrate how products have changed over time, allowing potential clients to see how far your company has come since its inception!
What types of industries use product videos?
While product videography is most often associated with e-commerce, it can be used by any industry. Many industries have seen a significant increase in sales after implementing product videos. They are widely used in the automotive industry to sell new cars and repair services, and grocery stores use them to promote their productsâ unique qualities. Even fast-food restaurants have begun using product videos to highlight their new menu items!
Why should I use a creative agency for product videography?
The short answer is that a creative agency can create a great product video for your brand. The reason for this is simple: we have the experience, team, and resources needed to do so. Our team members are experts in film production, which means they know how to use lighting and set design to make your product look more appealing on camera. They also know how to direct actors so that they can engagingly perform their lines. Finally, our graphic designers will give you a polished result thatâs clean-cut and visually appealing while still reflecting your brand's values wellâand we're not just talking about the video itself but also its thumbnail image! We believe strongly in creating quality content that stands out from the crowd; it sets us apart as filmmakers working toward one goal: creating engaging videos with exceptional storytelling abilities."
E-commerce Video Production.
Product videos are a great way to showcase your products and explain the features that make them unique. They can also be used to promote your brand, promote a new product line, or even as a sales tool. Product videos have proven to be highly effective in increasing sales and helping you convert more traffic into leads. Hereâs what we do differently when it comes to e-commerce video production: Our video production company will help you create an engaging and high quality video. Weâll work with you to develop the script, find great locations for filming, and hire professional actors if necessary. We can even help with post-production editing if needed.
Building a product video will boost conversion and ecommerce sales.
We all know that the Internet is a place where people go shopping. It's also a place where people go to be entertained. If you want your brand to succeed on the web, your product video should do both of these things at once. As we've said, our videos about your product can help you sell more products and increase sales by increasing conversion rates, customer engagement, and building brand awareness. Product videos are great for bringing your product to life. They show the potential consumer what they can do with it and how much fun they can have. Your product video should be entertaining but also informative.
Our Amazon Videography Packages.
Our Amazon product videos are the perfect way to showcase your products in a way that helps you drive sales and increase your customer loyalty. Itâs no secret: Amazon is one of the world's biggest eCommerce websites. It accounts for about 44% of all online retail sales! Thatâs why product video production for Amazon is so important; it allows you to get your product in front of millions of people who might not have seen it otherwise. If you want to use your products as an advantage over competitors, then a well-executed video could be just what you need to give yourself an edge over other brands. Our team will help create a professional and engaging video that showcases all the benefits of buying from you.
Customer Friendly Product Photography.
Product photography is a great way to show your product in action. It shows the product in its natural environment. You can show how it works and even add a human element to help create a realistic image of your product. Product photography also gives viewers an idea of what your product will look like from every angle, which helps them make an informed decision on whether or not they are interested in purchasing it. Product photography shows what the packaging looks like and highlights any additional features that may be included with this item so that people know exactly what they're getting when they buy from you!
Show Your Product in Action.
For example, you could show your product being used in an actual location. This could be a customer using it at home, or maybe you are using it in your office space. Showing the product being used by real people and in a natural setting gives viewers something they can relate to; they're connecting with what they see on screen and how they might use that same thing themselves. Another option is to show the product used by other people and companies. For instance, if you sell kitchen appliances like blenders or juicers, why not have an actual kitchen appliance shop feature yours? Showing this authenticity will help build trust with the viewer because now they know that others are using these things, so there must be some good reason for purchasing one too!

Close Air Handmade Soap Purchase Online
Close Air Handmade Soap Purchase Online Our soap is referred to as "natural" because all of the ingredients used in its making are natural. What is natural to us? It is a common-sense definition. It is natural if it comes from or is an animal byproduct, such as honey, milk, minerals, or vegetable. It is natural if it comes from honey or milk. We use e.g. Soaps are made with olive oil (from olive fruit) or shea butter (from shea nut).
Artificial manipulation of a substance in a laboratory (i.e. compounds that are made in ways that are not found in nature) can lead to it being incompatible with soaps. These ingredients are found in many 'natural' soaps, but not ours. It is not possible to extract it directly from the plant, or if it isn't a living plant, such as carrot powder. If it hasn't been extracted directly from the plant (or isn't still a plant - e.g. seaweed and carrot powder), it won't make it in our soaps. We are used to seeing (and eating!) all kinds of oils every day. There are many oils, including olive oil.
Handmade soap made with natural ingredients has many benefits
The skin is often the first to absorb chemicals and toxins from commercial products. Many ingredients found in these products are obscured in small print and hard to read on small labels. Handwashing should be gentle and soothing. Many commercial soaps can have harsh ingredients or negative effects on the environment.
Q- What should you care about when you buy soap?
Ans- Soap is a term that refers to all types of skin cleansers. Some soaps are deodorizing, while others are antimicrobial, antiaging and moisturising. Most people use soap at least once a day. It is a primary tool in the prevention of certain bacterial or viral diseases.
Q- Is your soap truly natural? Coconut Milk is being prepared for soap making
Ans -This is what you mean: Is it natural? Does it grow on trees? It is not, therefore. You mean, is it made only from natural ingredients? In other words, from plants, minerals or animal byproducts? Yes.
Q: How come the liquid that I eat with my salad has become solid and can I wash it?
As the majority of us aren't trained chemists, this can be a hard one to get your head around.In order for liquid olive oil to become solid and, importantly, something we can wash with, then it needs to undergo a change known as saponification.Saponification is the process by which oils (or fats and butters) become soap.
Q- How can you saponify olive oils? Well, you will need an alkali (or 'lye'). Is lye necessary to make soaps?
Ans- We do. Otherwise, the olive oil that we sent in the mail wouldn't be able to clean you. It would be just olive oil. It would still be liquid in our case. This is not very useful - and messy for the postal worker - since our soaps come in non-watertight, biodegradable packaging instead of bottles. ).
Q -Take a look at our ingredients.
Ans - I'm sure that you have noticed that we list our ingredients in what appears to be weird Latin, just like any other cosmetics company. We don't like it, but we do think it's not very friendly. That's why we offer a plain English version on our website as well as packaging.
Q- What is this to do with lye and why do we do it?
Ans-No Lye in our Formal Ingredient Listing = No Lye in Our Soap Bars Natural soap barsBy law, we must list all ingredients in INCI format (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) so they can be easily understood around the globe. We would be violating the law if there was lye in soap, but we didn't include it in our ingredients.

Rick's lips parted as he listened to her. Vega. Like the stars? He was paying attention. She was careful and he knew she was sniffing for hints of anything that could reveal his nature. She was guarding her people, defending everyone inside those walls, just like he was defending his group before everything went to shit.
"It's never pretty." He said. "People judge you by what they can take from you now." He nodded, his eyes fixed on the void where his memories were being streamed. "I think I've dealt with the worst. If not...maybe quite close to the worst."
Joe. The Claimers who were group rapists. The cannibals from Terminus, amputating his friend's leg and eating it in front of him.
Rick took his hand to his own face, touching his forehead then scratching his beard. "I meant it. And I know what I meant it. I know the position I am now. We have nowhere to go. So yes, I would like to stay." He looked at her in the eyes for some seconds, silent. His own weren't threatening or offensive at all, but his eyes showed her so much strength, yet so much pain. "I will do anything for my son, and if you indeed accept us here, I will do anything for the group."
Didn't mean he would be happy about it, didn't mean he wanted to do certain things, but he knew he would. He would. He just would. There would be a moment where pressure would just force him to do the most awful things to stay alive and protect his son. I hadn't been two weeks he had bit a guy's throat off and he didn't even know that he COULD do such thing, that he had the strength to do. But he had done. And would do it again. It was recent how he had grabbed an ak47 and shot the hell out of people, let them turn to eat the others who remained. And it had been even more recent that he turned a guy's head into bloody mud with a machete, over and over again. His idealistic, kind, sweet self, who wanted a family, who always chose mercy, that guy was buried so deep inside Rick's soul, that persona couldn't even see light.
"Understood." He said firmly.
That same day, Rick had his wounds treated and he slept by his son's side. Next day he finally ate, but still couldn't move much. He was sore all over and also slept most of the time, healing. The beds and matresses of the infirmary were comfy, he got to be clean and sleep in clean sheets. A different reality for those who didn't need to recover.
On the third day, he was strong enough to start Vega's testing and work, show wha he could do- he got assigned to a small wooden house, which was still being built apparently. One room, a small wooden "porch" outside where he could use water to clean himself. Inside, a small area in the middle to lit a fireplace so he could stay warm. Carl meant no danger to people there so obviously Rick would be alone for a while, having to visit his son at their infirmary as he still seemed to sleep most of the time due to his injuries.
It felt so off to have Shiro following him around, but he tried to ignore. Rick got explained about the work he should do, learned about how to acquire items, their own coin and rules. Nothing he disagreed with. He just thought clothes were so expensive, he would have to wear and wash his own every day. He worked the whole day with the crops at the fields, his mind planning how he could improve his little earth lot and applying what he had learned from Hershel to the plants. Once the sun set and the workers were dismissed, he would gather abandoned planks and buy some materials to finish and improve his little house. He even made a little wooden fence so he could get more privacy at night, when he would leave his clothes to dry by the fire as he ate from the meat or canned food he bought. The contact with the nature did him good. The tomatoes he planted were growing vivid and faster than the others and he could harvest faster due to the tools he adapted, by mounting a little cart with wheels so he had to walk less to carry his production as well as his shovel which he crafted to work on both sides, one used to dig deep and the other to scratch the earth, so he wouldn't need to carry many tools.
He was gathering a lot of money, not knowing what Carl would need when he left the infirmary, he had to be ready. The teenager had woken up, but still needed medical care.
Some days had passed and he had just finished washing his clothes. A cold night but the wind would dry them fast. He rested inside his little house, clean and so organized, hid back against the polished wooden floor, he pulled the blanket over his shivering skin and grabbed a small novel to read. The day he saw it at the market he fell in love with it, he had to buy it. The stories were his companion at night. Curled under his covers with his head on a pillow on the floor, he enjoyed to read by the fireplace in his little world of peace, away from fighting and blood.
Rick gave Fox a thankful nod and gently knelt near his son, slowly taking the teenager into an embrace while checking on him. Just his scent was enough to calm the sheriff down. And with the calm, the adrenaline also faded. Carefully Rick let go of Carl, squeezing his hand. He would be okay. He knew he would.
Rick's clothes were cold and attached to his muscular but thin hurt body. He almost got dizzy as all the consequences of the wounds and of the battle materialized in pain. He was shaking in cold. Did he get bit? While he was on the floor? The idea frightened him. Slowly he touched his ribs. No fractures, but so much pain. He undid the belt and examined hinself. Bruises, cuts, but no bites.
And then she came. Behind him like a shadow while he barely managed to sit on his own legs as he was on his knees. He turned to see her. When Rick realized she was talking to him, he hid all his pain and forced himself up. He didn't want to look submissive, even if he felt he could crumble if she poked his nose and pushed a bit.
"I'm Rick Grimes. Sure, I'll answer all you need to know." Pfft. He was desperate. He would do anything so his son stayed safe. Anything she wanted. Bur he had to hide. He didn't know what type of people they were. The previous groups he had encountered had tried to eat their meat and the next had tried to rape his son and his friend, maybe even himself after they would be done. And he had killed those groups in such gruesome way.
All the little sheriff postures and body language showed. So obvious. Also the way he spoke and gestured. He normally could hide emotion well and look so damn sarcastic, but now things were so different, all the trauma and all the weight of the deaths and losses were stamped on him.
"I leaded a group of survivors. I can do many things...and I can learn really well."
He knew Vega seemed to be a woman of little words. He had to be objective but also clear.
"I can plant, grow crops, animals, do and undo traps, fix some cars on a basic level..." the man breathed and finally looked at her in the eyes. "I can lead...I can make plans, ambush plans, negotiation, rescue, I can mount and clean weapons, ride horses, I can kill with all sorts of gear, with my teeth if needed, with bare hands. We took a prison, we amputated limbs when we needed, we dealt with a flu pandemic, we killed...entire groups to survive, we raised a baby, we were...raising a baby, I can...I know how to...and much more."
Rick's body shook a bit, he blinked slowly and looked at Vega again. His baby...the way he lost her he didn't even want to remember.
"For my son...I can do...I can do anything. I will do anything." He failed to resist and spit it out. It was useless to try a game he couldn't keep up. He was so hungry...so cold...tired...sad...scared...
Rick's voice and eyes and posture...they yelled justice and determination, so ironic, all the bad things he had done and his spirit was still there like a flame.
#hes still wears the same blue boxers he used in the first ep of the series#this bitch is above average#born leader#that kid who does well at school but no one knows his secrets because he is quiet#dude be freezing cold washing himself staring shiro that wont leave him alone#rick not getting used to a silent shadow named shiro that follows him everywhere first thing he did was build a mini wall so he had privacy#i swear he was afraid even to do his private things imagining shiro could be watching#Rick is happy at leas there is bathroom where he can pee in holy peace#shiro the BOMBASTIC SIDE EYE dude that is mega silent. rick secretly is competing to see who is more silent#Rick be hugging and trying to nuzzle his special pillow at night for some love and pausing looking around to see if shiro is watching him#rick making sure to put his work in his individual pile because hes scared someone might try to steal and he need to be away from trouble#Rick be like NĂO TOCA NO MEUS PĂO you said its capitalism but all i produced is mine#he wants to give people hints ab what he knows but hes afraid to get into trouble#he knows he needs to stand out

Cleansing, blessing, and protection basics
If you are new to witchcraft this guide is for you, but even if you are seasoned in the craft I still think itâs a really good idea to read other witches posts for new ideas and inspiration!~ Cleansing is such an important practice for anyone, not just witches. It is very commonly seen in many different cultures and religions worldwide and is practised in many different ways depending on the tools being used. Cleansing can be done with the help of deities or spirits, or it can be done in a secular way as well with reliance on your own energy or tools. Some people have different beliefs around when cleansing should be done and what rituals should be done at different times of the year. My path is one that works with the natural flows of energy around me, and I call upon deities and spirits to help me in my workings. I cleanse as I feel it is needed, and during the new moon period as well. However, you can adjust your practices to suit your own path and what makes you feel happiest.
Reasons to cleanse and when it should be done: Cleansing is so important for many reasons. It gets rid of heavy emotional energy, it prevents us from being influenced by unwanted energies, it gets rid of negative entities, and it helps to protect us in some cases, depending on what you are doing. You might want to cleanse when there has been a fight, or when an activity has been repeated in an area (like stress in a workplace) and a residue of the emotions felt while doing that activity has been left. Another time to cleanse would be after someone has been sick. It is best to wait until the person has become well again because if you cleanse while they are resting in their sick room and you use smoke you may make them feel more unwell. Once they are better again, it is good to go into the room they were resting in and give it a good cleanse to banish evil spirits and fumigate. Overall though, it is good to give things a cleanse even if nothing negative has happened. Spiritual people donât always feel wonderful and magical all the time, and we arenât immune to creating bad energy. Sometimes you come home and youâve had a bad day, or you might just be tired, or you feel angry, stressed, etc. Maybe youâve had a party and all your friends left their energy in your house. Even if nothing happened, this everyday stuff just builds up and needs to be removed every now and then. This is why itâs often good to set a regular cleansing time, such as the monthly new moon as well. Things that can be cleansed Pretty much anything can be cleansed. Commonly though, people cleanse their homes, their bodies, other people, objects, spiritual tools, and charms. There is really no end to what can be cleansed, and there is no end to what can pick up negative energy. Even your phone could pick up negative energy, and you then carry that around everywhere and touch it non-stop, allowing it to affect you. Tarot cards and other divination tools I would actually suggest to cleanse more often than other tools because they tend to pick up negative energies faster. What you can use to cleanse Smoke- This is one of the most common methods for cleansing, and you can use bundles of dried herbs, resins, or incenses to do this. You just need to light them up and waft the smoke around whatever is being cleansed. Cleaning your house- Clutter, dirt, mould, and mess attract bad energy that likes to hang in your laundry pile. Cleaning also helps us feel a lot less stressed, making room inside of you to experience healing energies. Donât forget that mould and other ugly things can make you sick and affect your mental health as well, so it is very important to keep yourself and your home clean. Water- In some cultures water is considered to be very sacred and purifying, and is utilized by taking cleansing baths and showers, washing the body or objects that are being cleansed, floor washes, and just by sprinkling. Be careful with this one though, because if you do not dry some surfaces they may become mouldy. Some types of crystals and natural materials like bones and wood donât really like water and may become damaged from it. It is better to cleanse these with salt or smoke. Fire- Again, in some cultures, fire is considered very sacred and holy. You do not need to burn your house down to achieve this. Be careful with this one, because you do not want to become a crispy sausage. But fire can be represented in smoke cleansing, or it can be used to banish things by burning something that represents what it is that you wish to get rid of. I often find that speaking or praying over a flame and asking help from fire to remove something will result in massive energetic changes- especially long term. Please ensure to never leave a fire unattended- this is basic common sense but youâd be surprised how many people donât follow this! Air- A cool breeze can work wonders to clear energy! Itâs so nice to open your windows and doors and let the cool air flow through the home. Salt- We all know salt preserves things from bacteria and other nasties, but it also has a very electrical charge almost, it carries a lot of powerful energy. So it is really good for cleansing, especially when entities are around. I like to keep some by my bed to keep entities away from me while sleeping and to prevent bad dreams. Sound- Sound is really powerful, especially because we know that sound carries vibrations and can carry them far. Bells, singing bowls, drums, your voice, clapping, youtube healing frequency videos, chanting, and prayer are all really amazing at cleansing things. Heck, even pots and pans can be bashed together to clear entities. I also sometimes feel like spirits are sleeping, so I usually wake them up with gentle bells. Mists and floor washes- Again, water here, but usually, this is a good option if you canât burn things. Beware again though, that you donât leave things wet otherwise they can grow mould and as I said before, some types of crystals and natural materials like bones and wood donât really like water. Usually, though, these are just water mixed with something such as essential oils, herbs, crystals or salt etc, which have been chosen to imbue the water with a certain element or property. These are then spritzed with a spray bottle around or on whatever you are cleansing. Floor washes can be mopped or thrown over the floor. Oils, alcohols, floral waters, and vinegar- Essential oils such as peppermint, myrrh, frankincense, eucalyptus, and myrtle are really good for cleansing things, especially if you cannot use smoke again. Diffusing essential oils is also a very common practice outside of the spiritual community so this might be a good option if you arenât able to be so open about your path. Alcohols such as Florida water are often used in cleansing, but keep in mind that some people consider Florida water to belong to closed cultures. Some people, however, disagree with this. But, you can always make your own floral waters for cleansing or you can buy them from essential oil manufacturers as a byproduct of essential oil production. You do not need to use Florida water if you are concerned about appropriation here. Floral waters are often sold by essential oil wholesalers, as they are usually sold to cosmetic manufacturers for use in moisturizers and balms. You can buy rose water or orange blossom water from Middle Eastern supermarkets, or if you are lucky enough they might be available in your local supermarket as well. Vinegar is really good to cleanse and also for cleaning. You can mix lemon and tea tree essential oil into vinegar, and these together are really good for cleaning and removing unwanted energy around the home. Vinegar is also good for banishments. Some basic and good ways to cleanse a home: When cleansing a home, pay attention not only to the rooms but especially to the doors, windows and any mirrors. A lot of things are happening energetically in those spaces and they are usually hot spots for activity. Using salt and water: To cleanse a home with these, sprinkle water around the walls, and place a small sprinkle of salt in each corner of every room. You can also place salt along the front of a door, or along a windowsill. Sometimes though, salt can damage paint so donât leave it on painted surfaces for too long. You can also paint protective symbols over the door and window frames with the water. Using smoke from herbs, resins or incense: To cleanse using these, take the smoke around to each room and move it in an anticlockwise circle three times. Also make sure to waft a lot of smoke around doors, windows and mirrors. Sound and prayer: You can go around each room with instruments, or you can sing over or speak over your home to cleanse it. If you choose to pray, make sure to state what needs to be removed, and what will happen within that space instead. Eg. âMay all anger, hurt, stress, and any other unwanted energies leave this space. May this room be safe, still, and peaceful, and may we experience joy, laughter and happiness in this room.â How do I know if there are entities in the room? If you are practised enough in sensing energies you will know straight away. However, if you are a beginner please keep in mind that your fear of entities alone can mean that you might believe there is an entity in your home even when there isnât, or your fear might even attract one. Sometimes we can also fall prey to the power of influential words, and a psychic or someone else who senses energies might claim that you have a spirit in your home and then you will start seeing signs for its existence even if nothing is there. Even if the psychic didnât pick up on a negative entity, but just said the word âspiritâ, many people have different interpretations for this word based on religious beliefs, influence from movies and pop culture, etc. You may have misunderstood. In fact, there are a lot of spirits around us all the time, ancestral spirits, household spirits, plant and animal spirits- and not all of them mean harm. But some people interpret the word spirit to instantly mean the worst. Mould can also affect your mental health and if it has made you unwell enough it can make you hallucinate and see entities or experience haunting activity. Check for things like this before worrying and stressing yourself unnecessarily. If you had an entity that meant harm, you would just know. And until you experience the sense of âjust knowingâ this kind of thing, you probably will not understand what I mean here. Energy flowering and blessings Once you have cleansed a space and depending on what you used to cleanse, the space or object might feel like a blank canvas. You need to do what is called energy flowering or charging to reconfigure the energy of a space or item. Energy flowering is usually done with floral waters, resins, crystals, or incense sticks. Bundles of herbs are used mostly for cleansing, but depending on the herb they can be used for flowering as well. But in my personal opinion herb bundles are best for cleansing only. Salt or soil can also be used for this- as I said before salt seems to carry a very electrical feeling energy, and soil from the earth can also be used to recharge objects. Resins are really good for raising vibrations and creating healing and beautiful emotional energies. To recharge with incenses or resins, waft the energy around the home but in clockwise circles and if possible use your dominant hand. You can also hold objects like tarot cards or crystals in the smoke or you can waft the smoke towards yourself or someone else. Cinnamon, sandal, frankincense, myrrh, and dragons blood are really good for this purpose. To recharge with floral waters, you can wash objects in them, or you can sprinkle them around the walls, doors, and windows. Altar spaces and deity images usually really like this type of cleansing. To recharge objects with soil, bury them until they feel ready. Make sure to leave yourself a marker on the ground so you know where they are buried. If you live in an apartment, you can definitely bury things in a pot of soil. If you cannot get soil you can also leave objects on a bed of salt for as long as needed. To recharge using crystals, place the crystal you want to use over the object or within the space and leave it for as long as needed. Clear quartz is a good energy conductor and will bring intense universal energies down. Copper is also really good for conducting energy, so if you have any copper items they can help recharge an item or space as well. Blessings A blessing ritual is a really lovely way to give a room, a person, or an object your goodwill, and also to call down the highest good upon something. You can make a charm to bless someone, you can pray or speak over someone or something, or you can also anoint objects, places, or people with sacred oils. This is also where some fun stuff like glitter, colourful threads, beads and other cool stuff can work its way into your magic. A basic blessing ritual for a person White, pink, and green candles Rose water Salt Rice Anointing oil Honeysuckle incense A bowl of water, soap and a towel.
Create a small mixture of salt, rice, and your anointing oil. Keep some of these ingredients separate and to the side. Wash the hands of the person you are blessing with the rose water, and rub the salt, rice, and oil mixture into their hands gently. They can rest their hands for a bit until the ritual is done. Sprinkle their head with the rose water, and offer rice and salt to them in the direction of their mouth (they donât have to eat it so donât shove it in their mouth lol) and also to the each side of their temples and the top of their head (you just need to hold it in your hand and point it in the directions listed above). Waft the incense around them three times clockwise, and offer the candles to them by moving them in a clockwise circle three times as well around the person. As you are doing this you can say out loud or in your heart âMay you be well, may you be protected, and may you be free from suffering.â Think of everything good that you wish for this person as you are doing this ritual. Anoint their forehead at the hairline with the oil. You can then offer them the soap, water and towel for them to clean their hands once all this is done. The ritual is complete! Making charms for blessing and protection You can make charm bags and fill them with all sorts of fun stuff like colourful glitters, sequins, crytals, herbs, meaningful items, images of deities, or handwritten prayers or sigils. Colourful glitters are cool because glitter is fabulous, and all the colours have meanings associated with them so you can pick the colours based on what you want to achieve. You can also make yourself some jewellery, and if you want to you could use religious icons or images in your jewellery, or choose colourful beads that represent certain ideas, archetypes, or deities. Other charms can also be candles or herbs for example. You could hang dried herbs around the home, or you can anoint a candle with an oil of choice and it will act as a charm. You can also anoint jewellery with oils. Making a charm from jewellery Select a piece of jewellery. It is better if it is made of something like gold or silver, as fashion jewellery can become damaged from oils of whatever you might use. Beadwork should be fine. You can make this into a ritual if you like, or you can keep it simple. Personally, I like to keep things simple when it comes to making charms, but each to their own. You can remix this however you like to suit your needs. Before you start, I believe it is respectful to ask the object if it wants to become a charm. Even inanimate objects contain the spirit of the universe or contain a consciousness. You cannot force it to serve you, so please ask respectfully if it is happy to help you. You will sense the answer with your intuition, or you might experience other phenomena such as synchronicities, seeing or sensing colours or energy, or hearing something. Just listen patiently. If it says yes, wash the object in water to purify it and leave it on a bed of salt for a hot minute. Light some candles with the colour that corresponds to your intention, and burns some incense. Anoint the charm in a blessing oil, and ask it to carry this intent for you. You can pray over it or speak over it what you intend for this charm. Give the offerings of candles and incense to the charm and thank it for helping you. It is respectful to bow before the object while giving it thanks.
It is now ready to wear, but you might want to clean it off. I canât imagine jewellery with caked-on salt looks too nice. Creating protective charms for the home Religious iconography near doorways is a really good option if you are able to openly display these. Some cultures make protective charms from certain objects like horseshoes, chilli peppers, bells, lemons, sigils, or similar items from temples and shrines. In each case, it is again respectful to ask the object if it wants to help you. You can do a similar ritual to the above, or you can make your own charms for the house. Basil charm to call down holy fire Basil is a herb I use in spiritual healing because I find it often has a very fiery energy that can really intensely open up and allow universal energy to flow. It is very simple to make, all you need to do is dry a bunch of basil. Ask if it is happy to serve as a charm for the home. If it says yes you can hang it in the home up high above the head, and preferably in the main room such as a lounge room so that everyone can be influenced.
Bay leaf doorway charm Sew some dried bay leaves together in a chain, big enough to fit the measurements of the door frame you wish to place it over. Once the length of the chain is big enough for the door, ask the object if it wants to serve you. If the answer is yes, hang it above your door frame. This will protect evil spirits from entering the home and will bring luck and abundance to those inside. Jar of holy salts for the bedside Combine sea salt in a jar with oils such as peppermint, frankincense, orange and lavender. You can mix in some of the same dried herbs if you like as well. Ask the object if it wishes to serve you, and if yes place it by the bed. This is a protective charm that will ensure a peaceful sleep without being bothered by bad dreams, negative entities, or anything else that you want to keep away. I had a friend who had a terrifying experience of having his name yelled at him by some sort of spirit just as he sat down to sleep. This charm has helped him feel calm and protected and he has not experienced the issue since.
Maintaining charms Charms do not want to be forgotten. They can often become spiritually blank or deadened and will be unable to continue their purpose if they are not cared for. They need love, they are a consciousness that wishes for its own happiness. One of the best ways to keep charms happy I find is to talk to them and build a relationship with them. In the morning when I do my regular incense burning and candle lighting I also give them offerings as well, by going around the house and waving the incense and candles towards them. I might also re-anoint them when needed. I find that if the object is respected as being holy and as being part of the family it will continue to happily serve the home. Donât forget this step to give your charms love and treat them as if they are alive with consciousness! ℠Building a relationship with the spirits of the home and land for protection Just as charms contain a consciousness, so do all inanimate and animate objects in the home and on the land which your home resides. It is good to honour these spirits and energies with offerings, and they can, in turn, be called upon to protect the home. I always leave incense burning in a safe place outside as an offering to the spirits of the land and home, and as I do so I ask for their protection upon the home. Over time, you will be able to sense their energies more and they will begin to surround you and protect you. You do not need to do much here except allow time and routine to do the work for you.Â

Make Money With YouTube Videos But Not With YouTube
YouTube motion pictures to make cash with out YouTube.
Did you recognize you can make cash online with YouTube motion pictures, and affiliate advertising but not with YouTube itself? There are 2 mystery sites I actually have observed; one can pay you for clicks on motion pictures (without video optimization). While with the other one I had more perspectives in a single week with less than half of the quantity of films than on YouTube in a month (additionally with none video optimization and/or algorithms).
It all started out after I had a few problems with mainstream social giants and reached the factor where I got bored with all the pink tape! Working my butt off to create precise first-rate content, handiest for my posts to get spammed and scammed by using bitcoin and binary trading spammers! Yip, you recognize precisely what platform I am relating to. (Youtube vanced apk)
Now, aside from supplying you with get right of entry to to these notable alternative video platforms. I am also going to provide you get right of entry to to refreshing options for mainstream media. That is in case you are as uninterested in all the problem, like ridiculous Ts and Cs, reality checkers, and all of the relaxation of the crybabies! These websites you are approximately to get entry to are quite engaging audiences, the general public (over 70%) are from top tier international locations (USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand).
Getting Buyer Traffic without all of the Hassle.
Getting traffic to affiliate hyperlinks is one issue. But, getting the ones traffic to convert into income and engagement is pretty another. Let's face it, everyone getting started with affiliate advertising right now run after mainstream media and social giants. Just stop already! Stop losing your effort and time most effective to get blocked, banned and suspended.
Spending days and even weeks learning and creating particular content, only to get a kick inside the nuts! All that difficult paintings down the drain, and then you definately need to watch for your blocked or banned period to expire. This, via the way will go away a big hole to your consistency, and this is why you are nonetheless struggling. Because whilst you want to force site visitors to associate hyperlinks, then consistency is of paramount significance. You do no longer need the social giants.
You do no longer want the ridiculous Ts and Cs. I am also pretty convinced you are as tired as I am of "fact checkers"! For heaven's sake, you cannot even percentage a funny story in recent times without the "truth checkers" having a tantrum! But I ought to admit, I am satisfied they drove me to that point of frustration. So a good deal in order that I located clean options and haven't seemed lower back given that.
Discussing the Sites and Refreshing Alternatives.
I need to be honest and say that these websites you are approximately to get entry to does now not pretty have the number of visitors than the giants. But ask yourself this. Would you alternatively have 1,000,000 traffic without a single engagement? Or would you choose 10,000 site visitors which can be active, attractive and buying from you? Yip, I thought so.
A unmarried tourist that converts, is really worth extra than one hundred,000 traffic with 0 engagement and/or income. When you figure your butt off using site visitors, then a few engagement and income are rather clean, proper? So, let's examine a number of these fresh alternatives to the mainstream giants.
· Rumble
· BitChute
· MeWe (Search Your Browser)
· Gab (Search Your Browser)
Rumble and BitChute are opportunity video platforms like YouTube. Only Rumble can pay you for video perspectives a lot quicker. Because Rumble will optimize your video mins after uploading it. Therefore, you may begin incomes for clicks from the get-move. BitChute is a touch more hard on the subject of video views and monetization. But this is besides the point.
With BitChute, put together to be blown away with the aid of an eighty% top tier traffic spike. Within 3 days, I got nearly 3000 video views from 25 films. But get this, I did not make a unmarried video and I were given 4 income from associate gives in the video descriptions! Now that is what I name client traffic! But how the heck did you do this, you may ask? Let me show you.
Getting High-Quality videos without making A Single video.
Getting excessive pleasant motion pictures to use and make cash is straightforward and you'll need but one tool to convert the videos. But you will have get right of entry to to this unfastened tool in a little bit. Really simple to do specifically when you have the unique video creator's permission with out asking. The steps are instead easy, simply start by using going in your YouTube channel.
Next you need to go into the key phrases and/or search phrases you need to target in the search bar and search. A entire list of films will appear in the YouTube seek effects. But you can't use maximum of these films due to copyright. To the top left for your YouTube search web page, you'll see "Filter". Simply click on on clear out, after which set off "Creative Commons". Now you have a list of videos you could use with permission.
Do a short test earlier than you replica the video URL and convert it by way of expanding the video description phase. Right on the stop of the description you will see.
License - Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)
This means that you can reuse the video, that is top notch for affiliate advertising specifically. Because there are numerous videos about opinions and fulfillment memories with several affiliate products that you could use. Then truly sell the associate provide that the video is ready.
Once you have got decided on a video below innovative commons, reproduction the video URL. But no longer the URL in the search window. You need to copy the video URL in the "Share" option. Then certainly upload the video URL to the YouTube Downloader tool within the steps beneath. Before we flow directly to the following heading, allow's simply move over the simple steps one greater time.
1. Search YouTube for a Particular Target Keyword.
2. Enable Creative Commons.
3. Double Check the Video License Attributes.
4. Convert the Video to 720P with YouTube Downloader (Search Your Browser).
5. Use Canva to Create Attention Grabbing Video Thumbnails.
6. Upload to Rumble and BitChute.
Important Note: With BitChute it's miles very well to apply cloaked associate hyperlinks in video descriptions, but I will no longer propose that with Rumble. Use Rumble to get perspectives and receives a commission for that. Do Not percentage affiliate links, cloaked or in any other case. In truth, do no longer proportion any hyperlinks on Rumble.
Getting even More traffic in your Rumble and BitChute Videos.
You guessed it; we're speakme approximately the 2 last alternative web sites. MeWe, and Gab. Where you want to share your motion pictures that you have uploaded to Rumble and BitChute once executed. But you furthermore may need to interact with audiences and be a part of agencies. These  web sites are like social media giants however without all of the hassles, and policies to paintings through.
Once you have created your Gab and MeWe money owed make certain to complete your profiles as expert as feasible. Simply because a faceless and/or suspicious profile will now not get a lot attention, if any at all. But social networking profiles is an entire concern on its very own.
With anything you do on-line, continually make your profiles as entire as viable because you are competing with human beings that do. A profile photo is a photograph of your face, like a passport photograph and no longer your favorite vehicle or much-cherished pet. Audiences recognize understanding who they are connecting with. Besides, it builds reputation and consider.

betts, i'm having trouble with letting myself "write badly" (and with coming up with ideas, but mostly the former). how do you do it, how do you teach yourself?
first of all, major props to you for trying the shitty first draft. this past semester it was the #1 thing i wanted my students to take from the class. for those who do not yet know the power of the SFD, i have made a very helpful visual aid:
letâs say you read anne lamottâs âshitty first draftsâ (and you absolutely must read anne lamottâs âshitty first draftsâ), and you come out of it believing in the three draft method:Â
down draft: get it down
up draft: clean it up
dental draft: check every tooth
but you think, potentially, the better your down draft is, the better your up draft will be, and the easier your dental draft will be. perhaps you think, the shittier your first draft, the shittier your final draft, or maybe, the more youâll have to revise.
NAY.Â
iâd like you to turn your attention to my gorgeous and professional graphic which took me a whole 30 seconds to make. iâve drawn two spectrums which indicate the quality of writing, from :( (awful) to :) (most excellent) based on your own definitions of good/bad writing.
letâs say the top line represents a writer who has written a very decent first draft. the absolute best they can do. theyâve put their all into it. they revise it once and itâs a little bit better. they revise it again, but at this point itâs mostly fixing a typo here and there. they have checked every tooth. but itâs still not great.
the bottom line represents a writer who projectile vomited onto a piece of paper (metaphorically) and then cried for an hour (literally). their first draft is written partially in wingdings for reasons they donât know. they forgot the word for âwristâ so they wrote âhand ankle.â objectively speaking in the grand history of the universe, according to god, it is in the top 1% of worst things ever written.
then this writer cleans it up a bit. now, itâs about where it would be if the writer had tried to write a clean first draft. itâs something they might be willing to show an extremely tactful friend, or someone with very low standards.
and now, magic happens. they revise again, and the draft is infinitely better than what they knew they could write. i donât know why this happens! but it does. itâs happened to me. itâs happened to every student who has had the terrible fortune of stepping into my classroom. i promise you it works.Â
writing badly is not just about getting your ideas down in a somewhat messy way. itâs about writing intentionally badly. itâs about aiming for the absolute worst of what youâre capable of. to write badly means to identify and define what you think is good writing, because youâre aiming for the opposite. maybe you hate stories that have run-on sentences, or which seem to lack self-awareness. that means your first draft is going to be FULL of run-ons and have no idea what itâs trying to be. but run-ons can be tidied up to create beautiful prose. and mindless nonsense that relies on tropes and cliches can be organized and added upon to be meaningful. but you need to get it down before you even know what the thing youâre writing is. we write as the process of thought, not the product of it.Â
which brings me to my next point: *commentator voice*Â
THE UNKNOWN
iâve written before on the interaction between fear, the unknown, and writerâs block. one day iâll write a big fancy craft essay on it that iâll try lamely to publish, but for now iâll be very blunt:Â
all writerâs block is fear. all fear is the unknown. to resolve fear, you must make something known. to make something known, you enact a procedure.
this is true of almost everything in life. everything you hesitate to do, everything you procrastinate or put off. every bad attitude you have. itâs all the unknown. if you open yourself to the process of knowing, everything in life becomes less scary.Â
how do surgeons perform life-saving surgeries? how do pilots keep a plane from crashing? how did i go to work as a bank teller in a bad part of town, day after day, knowing i would eventually get robbed? we have procedures. if this happens, you do this, this, and this.Â
as mary ruefle puts it in her essay âon fearâ -- what is the poetâs procedure?
this is, of course, a rhetorical question, but iâve taught this essay many times, and read it many more, and i am obsessed with the idea of a writerâs procedure. combined with donald barthlemeâs essay ânot-knowingâ which is also about the making things known, we have a foundation for which to understand the process of knowing.
so what is the process?
i have my own process which might work for you, which i adapt from project to project, but youâll have to make your own. and when you do, you have to trust it. writing badly is easier when you know, like me, you have at least 8 more drafts to do no matter what. no matter how good i think it is, i will do every step of the procedure, every time. i have faith in my process. there is no point where an element of the story is so unknown to me that i am afraid to continue. i know that by the end of the process, i have done my best work, and thereâs not much more i can do without the help of the people who have accepted it to be published.
recently iâve decided i want to start drawing. itâs a daunting endeavor -- i used to draw a lot when i was a teenager, but like many of us, certain creative interests we had when we were younger get shoved to the side for one reason or another. for me, i never got the hang of shading, and i couldnât handle ruining my lovely line drawings with my hideous attempts at making things look three-dimensional.Â
now, iâve tasked myself with picking it up again, but iâm afraid. i ask myself why iâm afraid. itâs because i donât know anything about drawing anymore. i donât know what to draw. i donât know where to draw. i donât know what to use to draw. i donât know when to draw.Â
but now, just by acknowledging what i donât know, i have a list of things i need to make known, one small thing at a time.
what to draw: i take a picture of a fruit basket. i follow some mandala artists on instagram. i look at art blogs. i make a list in google keep/drive of things i want to draw. i keep my mind open to inspiration as it arrives.
where and what to use to draw: i need tools. iâm interested in watercolors, ink drawings, and calligraphy. i go to amazon and i pick out a couple things -- a watercolor notebook, crayola watercolors, micron and brush pens. itâs about $20. enough to get me started at least.
when to draw: i schedule two hours three nights a week to draw. i download the harry potter audiobooks to encourage me to do it.Â
when it comes time to draw, the only unknown thing is where to place the first line. there is no risk in it, no fear -- i do it with pencil. it can be erased. there is no way to be wrong. once the first line is down, i move to the next and the next, making the drawing known one line at a time.Â
the first step in the process of knowing is naming what you donât know.
so my advice to you is this: make a list of questions you have for your narrative. if theyâre too broad, break them up. make them tiny. then ask yourself, not what are the answers, but âhow do i make these things known to me?âÂ
the response is usually âi donât fucking knowâ followed potentially by âwell iâll have to try doing this thing that i know is wrong.â it might be wrong, but itâs known. and so you have to write it down, then trust that it will eventually be right.
thanks for the great question, anon. more on this at the start of the new year, but soon iâll be launching a ko-fi gold! if youâre interested in getting one-on-one feedback for your writing or would like to buy me a coffee, feel free to follow me on ko-fi!
and hereâs my writing advice tag.

If you wish to become a patron of Writing in the Tiny House podcast, please visit www.patreon.com/writinginthetinyhouse today!
The following is a transcript of this episode. For the complete transcript, please visit the showâs website.
[00:00:00] So you did it guys. You have written the next best thing and you are so eager to get this out into the world that you have revised it, you have combed through it, and you have all of these things ready, but nobody has read it yet. So what do you do next? Well, let's find out today on Writing and the Tiny House.
[00:00:26] Hello. Hello. Hello. And welcome back to the show. Welcome to Writing in the Tiny House. I am your host Devin Davis, and I am the guy in the tiny house who is here to show you, you busy adults working a nine to five like me, that it is completely possible for you to write that work of fiction that you have always wanted to do.
[00:01:06] And you should. I just recorded 20 minutes of audio and didn't actually record any of it. So we're starting over and it's fine. Because now I get to say the things that I didn't save very well the first time, and it's okay to start over. We're still learning some of this new recording equipment and that's okay too.
[00:01:26] But many of you know, because I announced in last week's episode that I have been working on some smaller things as a way to get my writing more available, to get my writing into the hands of people who are eager to read it and to do it faster than I could do if I were to just write a book just because the time to produce a book is much longer and there are a million different ways to share your writing with other people.
[00:01:57] So I have been working on some smaller things and I am working on them in conjunction with Krissy Barton from Little Syllables Editing. She is going to be the editor on call or whatever, the editor in this whole project of writing a collection of short stories or novelettes. And so with this, I am writing these smaller works, and I'm going to be releasing them on a schedule, provided all of this works out okay. Right now we are on track with this first thing. And so I expect everything to be okay. And I think that this is something that we can reproduce right now. All of this is tentative stuff though. Like this is not gospel truth yet, but in doing these shorter things, I still need to go through the different steps of writing and revising and cleaning up these smaller works of fiction as I would have to do with a book.
[00:03:07] But because the thing is shorter, all of those steps don't take as long to do, which is kind of cool. It's fun to blaze through some of these different steps a little faster, and to get that progress done faster, to arrive there more quickly. And with this, I also hope to have myself on a regular releasing schedule, which means that there is kind of a stopwatch going for each of these projects.
[00:03:35] And for this first one, I am hoping more than anything. And I am taking a leap announcing this on the podcast that this will be ready for sale by the end of October. I'm going to post it on amazon.com and it will be available to purchase there. It'll be affordable. Don't worry about that. But I wanted so badly to share my writing and I think that I'm going to do it.
[00:04:00] So what I'm doing is this collection of short stories ties into the larger books that I am also in the middle of that I have set aside for the moment. So the world that all those things take place in these smaller short stories will tie into that same world. And this collection is called Tales from Vlaydor, and this is Installment One, which is entitled Brigitte.
[00:04:29] And so, yeah, so we did it. We've written a manuscript. We've gotten, you know, a few revisions under our belts, but if you are like me, perhaps you don't outline things very well. I surely don't, I don't like to outline. I like to write and then make huge revisions to what I've written because I don't like to outline, but for this first installment, I did not get any feedback to begin with on the story itself. I wanted to sit down, I wanted to write the story, revise a couple of things just because I wanted to present it in a good way to a small group of people. So I sat down. I wrote the thing. I revised it a couple times. I sent it through Pro Writing Aid, which by the way, Pro Writing Aid is amazing.
[00:05:19] Especially if you are using Scrivener as your word processor, because it integrates into Scrivener. It was the easiest thing to do. I recommend sending anything you are working on through Pro Writing aid before you let anybody read it, just because the edits were easy to do. And because Pro Writing Aid made it easier to read.
[00:05:42] Everybody seemed to have a better time. Pro Writing Aid does not replace a professional editor, but it is a very good tool to use along the way. So I wrote the thing, I sent it through Pro Writing Aid, and then I gathered in a way, a group of people that I would want to get feedback on this first draft, I guess we can call it a first draft. On this first revision, I guess.
[00:06:09] And this is what we do, this is how we approach this. So I needed to get feedback because first of all, I needed to know if this was a story that anybody wanted to read. I wanted to know also if this was a story that people would be willing to buy, and I needed to know if after reading this, they would be interested in reading more.
[00:06:35] And if the results were such that, no, this story idea is not a good idea. You need to switch to something else. I didn't want to spend so much time and energy on something that nobody would want. And so I would sooner scrap the whole idea and start a fresh with a new story idea rather than try to simply make something work.
[00:07:04] And so, because I'm writing to market because I want this to be sold. And so I want there to be a certain audience appeal. I wanted to make sure that I was on track and on base with the very foundation of this story. So that's what I did first. And I recommend you doing the same thing with your shorter works of fiction also, or with your novels.
[00:07:29] So here's the deal. I'm sure that you have heard the term beta readers a million different times if you are engaged in the writer, community. Beta readers are basically the people who are doing product testing for your book. They get your book and you need to know that the book is working for them as books need to work for readers. Does it keep their attention? Is it easy to read? Is it entertaining? Can they keep track of characters? Can they keep track of places? Do they have a good experience? Are they surprised during the surprising parts? Are they scared during the scary parts, all those things.
[00:08:10] That is what beta reading is for, but there's a big step before that. Some people call it alpha readers. Some people call it, I don't know other stuff, but. I had this concept and I needed to make sure that the concept was okay. So I selected a few of my close friends and another person that I'll get into in order to share ideas.
[00:08:36] So I wrote this novelette called Brigitte. It is about 9,000 words long, and I included just some questions at the end as a prompt, as a way to help people give feedback. And I recommend that you do the same. In a novel I recommend actually that you include things like that in sections of the book, rather than just a big, long list at the end of the book, just as a way to get the gears moving so that people can be inspired or understand how to give feedback, just because, especially in this most recent round of feedback, I have found that so many people read just to be entertained and they don't read critically. And that is fine. And so the little bit of help for that is really good for them. And it's good. It's good to hear all sorts of feedback. I've also found that for many people. So with this story, the vast majority of the feedback was positive.
[00:09:45] People liked the story. It was pretty middle of the road, which is okay. But people liked the story. They thought that it was easy to read. It was easy to get to the end. They weren't confused by people or names or places. And so I took that as a good affirmation or confirmation that I was on the right track with this, and I should move forward.
[00:10:14] And that is great. With many of the people though, the feedback was simply, Hey, this is great. I like it. I would want to read more of things like this. And that feedback is valuable for a specific reason. If that is all they're saying, this is great. I want to read more. While that feedback is not going to help you iron out the kinks and dings and dents in your manuscript. And it's not necessarily going to help you with your craft. It can show you that producing work like this. There are people who want to support your craft. And that is very valuable. So even though the tools aren't there, even though the feedback isn't there to help you get better as a writer, it is really cool to know that people are there to support you as a writer.
[00:11:12] And like I said, that is valuable too. However, with a lot of people, they responded to the questions. And I liked that and I took notes and I paid attention. With those questions though, I found that with many of them, I didn't require seven people to answer each of those questions just because the same answers for many of those questions ended up showing up like seven different times.
[00:11:41] That's okay. We live and we learn. However, there were a couple peers a couple people that read it, took notes, re-read it. And then had a really long conversation with me about how it went about, what was working and what wasn't working. And I'll come back to that in just a second, just because people who are willing to put that type of attention and energy into my work, those are people that I hold near and dear. I mean, everybody who is supporting my work is held near and dear, but those are the people that I will go to with the first ideas, with the baby ideas that I need to grow from, the really underdeveloped things that need to grow that are still vulnerable and still scary and still underdeveloped. And working together we're able to come up with some cooler things for the next revision of this story.Â
[00:12:47] With this, and I recommend this thing until the day I die. It is important to send your work, especially if you are writing to market, it is important to send your work to someone you don't know, or to many people that you don't know.
[00:13:02] When you are ready for that, you will know. I sent this first revision. I will likely try to find another person that I don't know to read this after this next round of revisions, but here's the reason why. The feedback that a stranger gives you is really hard to take, but it is super honest and it's usually really direct and it's really easy to understand, and that matters my friends.
[00:13:30] These people are not preserving a friendship. And so there is no holding back when it comes to what isn't working, what is confusing, what seems silly, but seems banale or stupid. I mean, what other words did this nice person include? But the points that this person brought to my attention were good points. It was clear that I had not conveyed so much of this story clearly.
[00:14:01] And like I said, because we weren't already friends, there was no reason to pretend like we were friends and try to sugarcoat anything. Most of the stuff that this person told me was really good and really valuable feedback. And so what I was able to do is take the key points from her feed back and talk about them with these other friends who were interested in helping me develop the story.
[00:14:29] So they didn't have to worry about stepping on eggshells. They didn't have to worry about offending. I got to say, oh, this other lady said this and this and this. And they're like, oh yeah, I guess that makes sense. And then we were able to discuss together ways to make it better. So with these conversations, some people tend to kind of freak out about it because they don't know how to have a critique conversation. So with these conversations, it is you and somebody else. And maybe a third person who are trying to improve a specific work. They're trying to make things better. If you or someone is coming to the table just in the attitude of saying this sucks. You need to leave it alone. You need to throw it away.
[00:15:16] Then you're not going to have this conversation with that person, but everybody has the common goal and the common understanding that this work is not finished and we are joining forces to make it better. The way that this conversation unfolds is much of the time the person will have notes. The person will have some ideas, but they don't really know how to get started about it just because Cohesion and hoping that everything links together and thoughts and different things like that.
[00:15:50] But this conversation is not going to be a dissertation. This conversation is not going to be like baring of souls. This conversation is largely brainstorming, which means a lot of the ideas and a lot of the topics don't have to mesh in the most beautiful way throughout the conversation. It's okay to jump from topic to topic.
[00:16:15] It's okay to say, oh, are we done with this? Because on the next page, this completely different problem is there. Let's talk about that now. And through those, I had two friends who were very interested in helping me improve this work of fiction. And that is exactly how the conversation went. They put aside an hour, we had a phone call and we talked about all the things that didn't work.
[00:16:42] And we talked about the things that this stranger critique partner brought to my attention, and we were able to iron out things and bring up some different ideas and some different approaches that I should try to incorporate into the next revision of this work. And that happened to me twice and it was beautiful and I felt enriched at the end and they were excited that they were included with this.
[00:17:11] And it was a really good thing. So I guess the takeaway here is when you are searching for feedback, it is important to help by supplying a list of questions. If it's a person who's already experienced with giving feedback, they likely won't pay much attention to those questions, but a lot of people don't read fiction critically.
[00:17:35] And so they they may need a little help with that. And that's great. Also, if you find those friends who are so engaged and so interested in helping you develop your craft, make sure to keep them near and dear. Take care of those friends. And lastly, If you have the people who say this is good, I want to read more, and then don't say much more than that. That means that you're on the right track and that what you have written is good. And while it may not improve your craft, it shows that there are people in the world who want to support your craft. So that's the quick take home for today.Â

Tears of Themis : Chapter 1 âSocial Snobberyâ Part 7 [Investigation Stage]

âLocation- QingPing Restaurant
(Xia Yan doubts that this case was caused by accidental food poisoning since itâs suspicious that pesticides known to cause harm to humans would be found in a restaurant where people are eating and drinking. And to make things troublesome, the accused is adamant that this was caused by his own negligence.)
MC: âThen letâs start looking into the pesticide and how it made its way into the restaurant. Even if the incident happened two weeks ago, there should be residual powder left.â
Xia Yan: âYeah, the pesticide used in the restaurant and the spring water that came in contact with it are our main focal points right now.â We were interrupted by a phone notification. I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and checked the voice message Zuo Ran left me.
Zuo Ran (voice message): âThe case isnât as simple as we thought it would be. Pay close attention to Fang Yuan. Call me if you run into trouble.â MC: (Lawyer Zuo shares similar doubts in regards to the case, and now heâs also suspecting foul play from Fang Yuan?)
Zuo Ran: âHey, whatâs wrong? What happened?â
The sound of Zuo Ranâs voice startled me. I only then realized that I had accidentally dialed his number - and a video call at that.
MC: â!!!â ~~~In call~~~
Zuo Ran:
âWrong number?â
âForget it, you donât need to apologize. As long as youâre okay.â
âThe study guides for the intermediate exams⊠did you mean to leave them at the law firm?â
âThatâs fair, the books are heavy and a nuisance to carry around.â
âAh, thereâs no need to worry that the case investigation will hinder your study progress, Iâll help you organize the key topics and questions for the exam.â
âNo need to thank me. Iâll let you get back to work.â
~~~End call~~~
(After Zuo Ran hung up, I pressed a hand to my chest and let out the breath that I was holding.)
Xia Yan: âThat person just now, was he your boss? You seem scared of him, is he bullying you?â MC: âNot at all. Lawyer Zuo is our firmâs executive elite lawyer, and a senior of mine. Heâs one of the best in the industry. Although heâs strict, he would never bully juniors such as myself.â Xia Yan: âReally?â
MC: âYes, really.â Xia Yan: âIf you say so. Regardless of whether itâs work or personal troubles, you can rely on me to help you. Iâll have you know, Iâm quite impressive myself.â MC: âOf course, Mr. Most-Impressive-Detective!~â
~~~Investigation starts!~~~
â [Examine powder sachets and mug]
MC: âHai OâSen powdered beverage? Iâve heard that this companyâs wellness supplements have been all the rage these past two years.â
Xia Yan: âConsuming four or five packets in one go is way past the daily limit; overconsumption of supplements is harmful to the body.â (Xia Yan and I both reached out to grab the sachets, and our fingers touched. His fingertips felt hot against the back of my hand. I looked at our hands, then turned to look at Xia Yan.)
Xia Yan: â...Weâre still so in sync, itâs like our brains work as one. C-cough! Why do you think Mr. Fang would consume so many packets?â
MC: âAh⊠XinRan did mention that Mr. Fang has heart issuesâŠâ (Whatâs wrong with Xia Yan? He jerked his hand back as if he had gotten an electric shock. I pondered on what Xia Yan said earlier, and we gradually fell back into work mode.)
MC: âI think Mr. Fangâs been consuming supplements as placebo effects.â
Xia Yan: âBut there ought to be side effects to his health if heâs been drinking so much of itâŠâ
â [Examine receipt stuck under ledge]
Xia Yan: âOwâŠâ MC: âWhatâs wrong?â Xia Yan: âI cut my hand. Thereâs a piece of paper stuck under the cabinet, so I was trying to pull it out. My hands are too big, I canât seem to grab it.â
MC: âHa.. Iâm sorry I canât help but⊠laugh!â Xia Yan: âThen, may I inquire of this all-mighty lawyer with small hands to retrieve it? Ah, be careful not to cut yourself as well.â
(Iâve rarely seen Xia Yan be this deflated, and itâs probably unprofessional of me to be joking with him while we were working. I knelt down, and with the help of the flashlight on Xia Yanâs cell phone, I tried to free the piece of paper.)
MC: âHu⊠itâs difficult. I got it! Itâs a receipt.â
Xia Yan: âThe time of purchase was two weeks ago, on Thursday. The item purchased was Insect Repellent 330âŠâ
MC: âItâs an industrial pesticide, you usually wonât be able to purchase this from the stores here.â
Xia Yan: âThe receipt also has the payment information. We have the first and last four digits of the credit card used for the transaction, so we can find the person that purchased the pesticide.â
â [Examine spring water container]
MC: âThis should be the spring water sourced from YunXia mountain. The filling date is recorded on the side here. The production date is the same date as the incident. This jug is the same one that was delivered to the restaurant two weeks ago.â Xia Yan: âThe containerâs opening is narrow since it is to be placed on top of a dispenser for drinking. In this case, a pump would be affixed to it in order to retrieve the spring water. The likelihood of accidentally contaminating the spring water would be very difficult.â
MC: âThat means whoever is behind the incident must have done it with malice.â
Xia Yan: âItâs a shame that the water container has been scrubbed clean of any other clues or fingerprints.â
â [Examine front door lock]
MC: âThe door employs a fingerprint lock, and the door itself is free from any signs of forced entry. If the narrative is that this was a case of sabotage, then the culprit isnât just anyone looking to extort money, but maybe one of the restaurantâs employees?â
Xia Yan: âTo be more specific, the culprit would be anyone with fingerprint access, not necessarily just the employees. The restaurantâs employees would share liability if anything went wrong in the first place, so they would face the risk of being laid off. Especially if it was discovered that there was foul play, they would most likely be the ones to shoulder the repercussions. Unless one of them holds a personal grudge against Mr. Fang, under regular circumstances, an employee would have little motive to try and sabotage their workplace.â
MC: âBut who else would have fingerprint access? Even XinRan had to ring the doorbell to get in. And thereâs no way Mr. Fang would try and ruin his own livelihoodâŠâ
(I mulled over the possible suspects as Xia Yan pulled out a tablet from his bag and plugged it into the finger scannerâs power connector.)
MC: âAre you trying toâŠ?â
Xia Yan: âTo find the other people with access, all we gotta do is check the fingerprint IDs registered.â
â [Examine the water pump on the shelf]
Xia Yan: âThis must be the pump that they attach to the spring water container.â â [Examine water pumpâs nozzle]
Xia Yan: âLook, thereâs some yellow crystallization on here.â
MC: âIs this the leftover residue from the pesticide after it had dissolved in the water?â Xia Yan: âThe amount of crystallization implies that the concentration of the dissolved pesticide was very high. But of course, this would be one of many possibilities.â MC: âOne of many possibilities⊠What if someone rubbed the pesticide all over the spout? We canât eliminate that theory, either. Regardless, we can say with certainty that Mr. Fang was lying when he claimed that the water was accidentally contaminated.â
â [Examine prints on water pump]
MC: âIf only I had brought magnetic powder to lift these latent prints off of the water pump, then we could confirm whether or not anyone tampered with it.â Xia Yan: âYou mean this stuff?â
(Xia Yan pulled a small bag filled with a powdery substance out of his shirt pocket.)
MC: âWhy would you carry that around?â
Xia Yan: âAs a professional, I gotta make sure I have all the tools on hand. How could I not take my gear everywhere?â
(Xia Yan used the magnetic powder and lifted several prints from the water pump. We have no way to cross-reference them at the moment.)
â [Examine pesticide packet in the drawer]
Xia Yan: âThis must be the pesticide that Mr. Fang sent his runner to buy. The convenience store receipt was kept with it. It reads that the time of purchase was two weeks ago on Monday.â
MC: âMr. Fang is a meticulous person. If it were me, I wouldâve tossed the receipt two days after purchase. It says here, Mr. Fang purchased⊠Bugger-Off. Wait thatâs not right, I recall that this type of insecticide is harmless to humans.â Xia Yan: âYeah, itâs harmless towards mammals, which makes it suitable for use in households with pets. That reminds me, you used to be extremely scared of cockroaches when we were little. What about now? Are you still scared?â
MC: âWe can still be friends if you drop this subject right now.â
â [Examine blue powder by the wine rack]
MC: âThatâs strange, why canât we find any trace of the pesticide that they claim they used? It would be counterintuitive if they sprinkled it on the ground and then wiped it up soon after.â Xia Yan: âThatâs something worth looking into⊠Eh? There, by the corner of the wine rack, there are some traces of it left.â MC: âJudging by the blue color of the powder, it looks like any other insecticide you can buy on the market.â
Xia Yan: âIt may look like it, but after we perform a compound analysis, weâll be able to say for certain.â
MC: âY-you even have equipment for that with you?!â
(I looked all around to see where Xia Yan would hide bunsen burners and beakers, kind of hoping that he could pull them out of thin air like magic.)
Xia Yan: âYou donât have to stare at me so intensely⊠we wonât need to actually test it using a chemistry kitâŠâ (Xia Yan pulled a palm-sized device out of his bag. It looked like some sort of electronic screen with a thin dropper attached to it.)
Xia Yan: âThis is the D-type Rapid Composition Tester that I modified; itâs capable of detecting common compounds.â MC: âD-type, huh⊠does that mean thereâs an A-type, B-type, C-type that came before it? I doubt that you studied hard in your bio-engineering program.â
Xia Yan: âWrong again, I graduated from my Masterâs program with high honor distinctions!â
~~~Investigation ends!~~~
(After we finished preliminary investigations around the restaurant, Xia Yan and I sat down and discussed what we found. Xia Yan also took this time to run tests on the yellow crystals found on the nozzle of the water pump, as well as the pesticide sampled near the wine rack. The fingerprints lifted from the body of the water pump was compared to the fingerprint IDs registered in the door lock. On closer investigation, we also managed to lift fingerprints from the Insect Repellent 330 receipt. Lines of data and formulas appeared on Xia Yanâs computer, but they all looked like mumbo jumbo to me. I turned my attention to the cut on the back of his hand as it was starting to swell as it bled.)
MC: âWe should take care of that cut on your hand.â
(I pulled out a packet of alcohol wipes and tried to not disturb Xia Yan as he worked.)
Xia Yan: âA cut? Where?â
(He smiled when he saw that I was staring at his hand with worry.)
Xia Yan: âAh, I wouldâve forgotten about it if you hadnât pointed it out.â
MC: âWhy are men always so careless. The underside of that cabinet probably hasnât been wiped down in years. What if your cut gets infected?â (I pulled his hand toward me, and before he could complain, I unwrapped the alcohol wipe and dabbed it on his cut. I blew on it as the alcohol evaporated.)
MC: âHang tight, it might sting a little. Itâs a good thing that I always keep these disposable wipes when I go out for investigations. I often use them to disinfect things.â
Xia Yan: â...â (Xia Yan stayed quiet for a long time, so I looked up to glance at him. A pink blush settled on his cheeks, and it made his amber eyes look brighter than usual.)
MC: âY-youâŠâ Xia Yan: âAh.. Uh⊠Iâll remember it well. Next... time, Iâll be careful. Iâll make sure you wonât have to worry.â MC: âOkay, as a hotshot detective, you better keep your word.â
I smiled at Xia Yan, and he turned even redder. He awkwardly coughed and scrambled to change the subject.
Xia Yan: âMore on the results, thereâs something questionable about both the fingerprints and the pesticide.â
Magickal Enchantments
Food and Beverage
Three simple words: Keep it light! A spell on a full stomach is not recommended. A heavy meal can leave you sleepy or uncomfortable. Avoid meat the day of your spell, if you can. Stick with fruits and vegetables as much as possible. Fish ----- baked, but not fried or in a heavy sauce----- is a good option. Wait at least two hours after eating to begin your spell.
Try to avoid caffeinated or carbonated beverages; distilled water is an excellent choice because the impurities have been removed. A cup of caffeine-free herbal tea is soothing and relaxing. Try a blend of chamomile and passionflower. Although some of the spells include type of wine or fruit juice during the actual spell, do not take it to extremes.
Clothing As with food and drink, here, too, three simple words apply: natural, loose, and clean. One hundred percent cotton is a wise choice. A loose white gauze garment is nonrestricting and gives you a sense of cleanliness and purity. Some individuals enjoy taking the time to find certain color garments for special spells. The same colors listed in the candle color chart ( click here ) can be use for clothing as well.
If you do not have a cotton garment, choose something as close as possible, like a cotton blend. Comfort is important; Tight jeans and belts do not allow your body to relax. However, wear jeans if they are the most comfortable thing you own ----- and most jeans are 100 percent cotton. If you are in a private place, you may decide to just wear a robe, towel, or oversized t-shirt. You may even opt for nudity. The choice is yours.
Before you get dressed, make every ever to take a bath or shower. Start fresh and clean. Think as you are showering or bathing that you are washing any negative energy off your body. A bath is an excellent idea, especially if you use music and candlelight.
If you're doing a group spell, bathe or shower before leaving the house or before the group arrives. If you can't shower, at least wash your hands and face. If you can wash your feet, that's even better. If water is not available, shake your hands and visualized negativity being removed.
Music
Music has the ability to create a sense of peace ----- providing it's the right music.
By virtue of the fact you are reading this book, I feel safe in saying you most likely are a seeker of peace and well-being. And all likelihood, you already have in your possession music that soothes you. Slow classical music or New Age music seems to be the most popular. Drumming and chanting recordings are also something to consider. Nature tapes offering gentle background music can be found in most department or music stores.
After purchasing any new tape or CD, listen to the entire recording befor e using it for spell work. The first two selections may be ideal, but if song number three goes up thirty decibels and a wolf starts howling, it could send you crashing down from your altered state.
If you have the time, visit your local music or New Age store. Most provide headsets and demonstration tapes that give you the opportunity to listen before you buy. The recording you choose should be long enough to last your entire spell.
Music that suddenly stops in the middle of a ceremony will also break the mood. If you have no choice and you must turn a tape over, at the very least have your sound system close to you so you do not have to leave your spell area. Music is the sound of the soul: If you can include it in your rituals, all the better.
âȘ10âȘ
Magickal Tools
Any tangible item used for ritual can be considered a magickal tool as long as it means something special to you. The creative part of our brain works in symbols, so it makes sense to use symbols as a way to conduct creative magick. You probably already have magickal tools and may not even recognize them. It may be your favorite picture that makes you "feel good" upon merely looking at it, that special coin that a relative gave you when you were a child, or a favorite pen you've had for years.
Candles
Candles bring light into our lives ----- both literally and symbolically. They chase away the darkness and allowed new projects, thoughts, and relationships to emerge. Lighting candles before a spell can create very powerful energy.
Candles also represent the three levels in which we exist. The wax corresponds to our physical body, the wick to our mind, and the flame to our soul or spirit.
Candles come in a myriad of colors, shapes, and sizes. Some are scented, some unscented. For our purposes, shape and scent ( or lack thereof ) are unimportant. Do give some consideration to the size of your candle. If you deem your spell will take an hour, don't light a candle that burns for only thirty minutes.
Color is a significant part of what candle burning is all about. Different colors represent different vibrations. As the candle burns, the vibration of that color is red. Refer to the color chart to clarify which color best suits your needs. You may use just one candle or a combination.
If you don't have any idea color available, use white. When burning a white candle, pay attention to the smoke. When it starts to smoke, negative energy is being cleansed from that area. When the smoke subsides, the energy in that area is cleanse and clear.
Take caution in purchasing a white candle that is too inexpensive. Inexpensive white candles smoke too readily and can confuse you. However, I would also not advise going to the extreme and looking for top-of-the-line candles. Use common sense and buy moderately. When working with candles, always use caution and do not leave them unattended.
Candle Color Interpretation
WHITE Purity, power, newness, spells, healing, peace, and psychic skills. White will intensify the effect of any color candle it is used with. Â
BLACK Removal of negative energy; not a color of evil or negativity. Release and banish.
BLUE Peace, tranquility, protection, fidelity, astral projection.
BROWN Protection for the household; telepathy, stability.
SILVER Neutralizer of negative energy or forces.
GREEN Prosperity, money, success; counteracts jealousy, ambition.
ORANGE Provides additional energy needed for work or other endeavors; promotes order, control over the self.
PINK Love, friendship, romance, affection, giving.
PURPLE Intuition, psychic pursuits, power and independence, wisdom.
RED Fertility, physical strength, sexual passion, courage.
YELLOW Well-being, self-esteem, attraction, glamour, action. Â
As mentioned earlier, this chart can be used as a guide for making clothing color choices.
In my experience, people have either love incense or they have an aversion to it.
Incense and Fragrance
Incense also comes in different sizes, shapes, and forms. Some types of incense are already labeled with names reflecting the effects they hope to achieve: There is stress-relieving incense, energy incense, love incense, and so on.
Some people prefer to burn potpourri or oils. One of the purposes of incense in these particular rituals is to bring you into an altered state of consciousness in the most peaceful way possible. If the smell of sage or sandalwood calms you, use it. But if your sinuses say no, give them respect.
Don't get caught up in what others have decided is the best aroma for you. For example, studies have shown citrus fragrances promote energy, and the smell of lilac can calm us. But don't force yourself to inhale a scent if you don't care for simply because the label states "incense for romance." Always buy what you enjoy.
Experimenting with new aromas is also fun. Most incense is inexpensive and sometimes sold by the stick. One thing to be careful of: If you are going to do a spell inside or in a small area, try your new purchase out prior to its actual use. Otherwise, you may be subject to a disagreeable smell for hours, if not days. Incense can take a while to dissipate and may linger in the air for a long period of time.
Here are some recommended sense and herbs you may want to try that correspond to a certain magickal work. Remember: These are only suggestions and not a must.
Crystals and Gemstones
Crystals bring life to our quartz watches. They receive and transmit radio waves. Without quartz crystals, the computer age would never have happened: They are what make up integrated circuits and electronic chips.
The power of crystals go far beyond the products we have derived from them. They are important tools in magick, having the ability to focus and direct energy to a specific intention. Some say they have healing powers, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Many other stones also have special energy that can assist in your spells. For a quick reference, Iâve listed a few below. But this is a huge area of exploration. If you want to know more, your local bookstore or library will certainly contain numerous books on the subject.
Gem Stone Qualities
A special note about quartz crystals: These stones are available in nature stores, gem shops, and most New Age gift stores in rough or polished form. You need not spend more than a few dollars on your crystals. Start with something small, and go to a larger size if you feel it's necessary. If you are unsure of which is the best stone to intensify your spells, use a clear quartz crystal. Clear quartz crystal stimulates healing, balances the elements to fulfill us and make us whole. Aids psychic development. Amethyst a very powerful spell stone. Psychics and healers have used its curative properties for years. Helpful in dispelling anger and anxiety, aids in feeling less scattered. Carnelian often called the stone of good luck. Said to purify the blood, stimulate sexual emotions, and aid in sexual function. Lapis lazuli draws love to us. It is also reputed to be effective in healing headaches, high blood pressure, depression, insomnia, and other such ailments. Malachite increases energy, is connected to change and creativeness. The Egyptians wore crushed malachite as eye shadow to guard against the evil eye. Moonstone is said to be a stone of magic. It increases psychic abilities and is used widely for spell rituals. Astral projection is accelerated when using a moonstone. Rose quartz also known as the love stone. A stone and that deals with the energy of all the emotions. Turquoise builds strength, provides protection. It is a sacred stone to the Native Americans. It is a protective stone for horses and their riders. In Arabia it is a stone of meditation. It has equality of absorbing negative energy. When purchasing, carefully touch the crystals at the store. A stone chooses you, you don't choose it. It would just âfeel goodâ to you, having something the others don't possess. Use your gut feeling ----- which is your intuition talking to you.
Charging Your Crystal
Once you find your crystal, it needs to be "cleared, charged, and programmed." Cleanse it of a past ownerâs energy and \ or the energy that has been placed on it by individuals examining it by washing it in cold water or letting it sit in a bowl of water.
Next, use the Moon to charge the crystal. Place it overnight in view of one of the phases listed below:
New Moon a crystal charged in this phase specifically offers energy that supports new beginnings, confidence, hope, and specifically anything of increase. Full Moon a crystal charged in this phase brings power to support anything you want to achieve. This is actually the best all-around phase to utilize.
Once you have cleared and charged your crystal the last step is to program it. Hold it in your hand, and focus on the vibrational energy you are looking for to accomplish your goal. Visualize your final goal, but not the way you think you're going to get there.
For example: if you want to lose twenty pounds, see yourself on the scale twenty pounds thinner. Don't try to analyze the way it will come about. This is best left to your higher power to solve.
If you choose, you can program any of your other gemstones as well.
âȘ13âȘ
Element Water
Throughout the spells you will see the use of what I refer to as element water. Element water is basically water that has been charged to help you do magick during a thunderstorm.
It represents fire, earth, air, and water, a forceful mix of elements at their highest potency. Lightning represents fire, which corresponds to power, energy, magick, and lust. Thunder represents air, which corresponds to spirituality, health, and knowledge. The strength of the storm represents earth, which corresponds to nature, being grounded, wisdom, and all things material. The rain itself represents water, which corresponds to emotions, reflection, love, creativity, and purification.
How to Make Element Water
Basically you are collecting rainwater with intention. First you will need a container to collect the water. I have used glass, plastic, clay pottery, and almost any type of container one can use, and I have seen no difference. You may feel a natural material is better or something you feel special has more impact. If these are your thoughts, then seek a special container. I personally use two or three chalices.
The important thing is that the container is new or extremely cleaned, having been sterilized in a dishwasher or by boiling if is made of glass. If the container is new, still clean it to remove energies from other people who may have handled it. Because thunderstorms are not all that common, I recommend obtaining as much water as possible so you will always have some on hand.
If you know that a storm is approaching, take your container and place it in a spot where it will collect water. Some people always leave a container outside just in case, and others only place one out when they are almost certain storm is near.
After the storm and your water has been collected, you should invoke a "hand blessing." Place both hands above the container with your palms facing down and say, "Bless this water. May it empower my intentions."
Now, transfer your element water into a practical container for later use if you are not going to use it immediately. A glass or plastic jug or bottle with a lid is a good choice.
The water is not limited to use only during rituals. It can also be used to bless something. Feel free to separate your water into smaller bottles for traveling or even to give a small bottle to a friend. It is a perfect gift for someone who is like-minded because it comes from nature and you have put your personal energy into it with good thoughts and well-wishes.
Around the holidays, I take element water and put it in tiny plastic containers with little labels that read, âElement Water.â I then tie ribbons around the necks of the containers and give them to special friends in case they want to bless something. I use element water to bless my car, computer, office, home, and the cat next door!
Special Notes
Element water will only be powerful when rain, lightning, and thunder are all present. An average rain will not do.
Do not use water that flows from a gutter! It may seem to be a very easy solution, especially if you want a large amount quickly. However, the fact is the rainwater being channeled through the gutter is not as pure as water coming directly from the sky because it has picked up debris.
Do not be concerned about pollution in the air when gathering water. Your blessing over the water purifies it.
Do not drink the water, as it is not meant for your inner body.
If you are not in an area where you are able to collect water, ask a friend to do it for you. However, you must conduct the âhand blessingâ once it is in your possession.
Be cautious in thunderstorms and do not go out when lightning is about. For safety reasons, wait till the storm is over to bring your collected water inside.
Additional Magickal Tools
Other magickal tools mentioned in spells will include the following. Feel free to substitute what is available or what works for you.
Wand or knife: Sword, athame, letter opener, or any type of wand or long crystal. Any pointed object that extends as a pointer will work. One can purchase decorative wands displaying gemstones and crystals in New Age gift stores, fantasy stores, or through Internet Web sites. A double-edged knife is also available through the same sources. Fire burning container: Iron pot, mini-chiminera ( small Mexican fireplace ), ashtray, metal trash can, cauldron. Anything that can contain a piece of paper being burned within a safe vessel. Special drinking glass: Any container that can hold wine or grape juice: wine glass, cup, bowl, chalice, or favorite goblet. Optional tools:
Flowers and fruit
Religious statues or holy cards
Tarot cards or Runes ( or other methods for telling future events; psychic forms divination )
Pendulum ( Click here for information on making decisions using a pendulum )
Pentacle or pentagram symbol ( The pentacle is a five pointed star with lines connecting with a circle encompassing it. A pentagram is the same five point star but has no circle. This symbol represents the elements earth, air, fire, water, and what is sometimes known as the fifth element, spirit. A pentacle or pentagram can also represent the human body with legs and arms outstretched. This symbol is often used in rituals as a form of protection while the ritual is underway. The star should always be in an upright position. The reverse is considered to be negative.)
[[ Image Source ]]
Cross ----- any kind ( The universal symbol of a cross represents the bringing together of multiple dualities into a single whole. It can represent human form with extended arms, as well as crossroads in your life. Crosses have numerous religious and spiritual meanings.)
Bells ( A bell can be rung to invoke universal powers and note the beginning of a ritual. Some people use bells as a form of protection to keep evil away. )
Who knows what contains magic and love for each individual? But I do know if you have such items, you should hold them dear and use them to assist you.
âȘ15âȘ
Personal Altars
To have a personal altar is by no means a requirements for doing spell work, but it is an excellent place in which to keep your magical tools and to worship whomever you choose. Use it not only as a storage for these special items but also has a place to pray, meditate, and to receive answers from your higher self.
An altar can be any area that is flat. It can be a separate small table or any action on your dresser. The top of a large sound speaker could be used; a bookshelf or two cement block with a piece of wood laid across them would do. Once again, you get to be creative.
You may not want to have a permanent altar but prefer to set up a temporary one just for your spell use. Your altar can typically would display items such as candles, incense, wands, knives, gemstones, statues, chalices, element or holy water, and anything else you would use as a special component that had spiritual and enchanting properties. I do not feel there is any special way to set up an altar. Moving things around until it looks and feels right to you.
An outside altar is also a lovely thing to create if possible. It can be built near a favorite tree using stones and bricks. You may construct a special table outside made of wood. To make it easier, use a tree stump or a rock that is fairly level.
When fashioning an altar, try to stay away from the use of too much metal. Natural materials are always the best. However, if your only choice is an altar containing a lot of metal, tried to cover it. Use a natural fabric or put a piece of wood over it. Try to keep things natural.
As for the direction to face your altar, there are many schools of thought. Some suggest facing north because it is the most grounded direction. Others will recommend facing the altar east because it is the direction the Sun and Moon rise. Each direction has a special meaning and place. Therefore, I feel you should put it anywhere in which it is practical.
I have seen rolling altars, where people have made altars on the top of units that have wheels so they can roll through a room to face the direction they feel it needs to face for a particular spell or meditation. A rolling altar can also be kept out of the way in a closet if you are pressed for space.
Altars are extremely personal, as well as very interesting, and there is no right or wrong way in which to set up this area of sacred items.
Week 6 - Non-Teaching Week
Reflection
Andrew Simpsonâs video on model making sheds light on a subject which I always thought was quite obvious, but had never stopped to properly consider.Â
My prior understanding of model making was that it was more for show than to âinform the designâ, however after watching the video, I have come to realise that model making plays a crucial role in the design process through more direct means. For example, creating a physical model and testing it in person creates a far clearer picture of the productâs ergonomics than a CAD or drawing ever will. This information has the potential to completly reshape certain aspects of the product and dispell obsolete design ideas which have never been physically tested. Thus making physical models are important in that it is a âtool that you can use to better the outcomeâ of a product.
Prior to watching this video, I tend to do very little prototyping and skip straight to creating the final product. However now I realise that the many small issues which arise when and after I have created the final product can be ironed out by simply creating prototype models first.Â
Eric Strebelâs Cube
Eric Strebelâs video on foam cutting techniques and the polish of his final products put my previous practices to shame. I found the concept of his techniques quite straightforward and had already put most of what he was teaching to use before. However the level of precision which he achieves shows that I have quite a ways to go before mastering foam board model making, and especially highlights the fact that I need to buy new equipment.
As you can see in the picture below, my scalpel was quite dull and rusted, and the tip of the blade had broken off due to an earlier project which I was working on. As such, it was extreemly difficult to cut through foam board cleanly and I was forced to use my box cutter which was on its last blade.
After cutting out 6 squares measuring 50 x 50mm (5mm high), I drew a border 5mm from the edge and cut along the line to the bottom edge to create a ~45 degree angle. I found that the box cutter was sharp enough to make clean cuts, however too large and clumsy to make precise cuts. As a result, not all sides were even and these imperfections were expecially obvious when constructing the cube. The finished product was for the most part neat, however it was obvious that the sides do not fit flush as you can see with the uneven jutting edges of the cube. After completing this activity, I have come to realise that the quality of an industrial designerâs equipment is just as import as the skills and creativeness of the designer, facilitating the realisation and communication of their ideas into a physical medium.Â
Strebel Cube Construction
Home Makers Space
I take a practical and lazy approach to the layout of my workspace in the form of a wide spacious table, and an A2 cutting mat. When Iâm working, I get messy, really flippin messy so I try to compensate by having a lot of room to work in. All manner of equipment, pencils and pens get dumped into the two empty tissue paper box to left top forcing me to dig through the pile of discarded items whenever I need something. I have a wide 27 inch screen, a girthy gaming mouse pad a razer death adder mouse because I have a crippling addiction to gaming. 10/10 battlestation.
I Tried 3 Monat Hair Product Samples
New Post has been published on https://vestedbeauty.com/monat/
I Tried 3 Monat Hair Product Samples
How Well Does Monat Work on Middle-Aged Hair?
One of my readers is a Monat distributor. We came to a happy arrangement. Sheâd send me some samples. Iâd use them and write a review.Â
I had some preconceived notions.
A few years back, my hubby had a client who gave him a few samples. (Heâs got this glorious mane, ladies. Seriously.) He shared, and I just remember the intoxicating aroma â and the fact that the bottle lasted forever.
So I was excited because⊠this stuff smells amazing.
Before I entered midlife, that was pretty much how I decided which shampoo and conditioner to use! (Whoâs with me? Remember Body on Tap and Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific? How about Suaveâs lemon-scented shampoo?)Â
Obviously, once you reach a certain age, it takes more than a good smell to do the trick.
@curlytexasmama
The Challenges
Whatâs going on with YOUR hair?
Mine seems to have a split personality. Weâve got:
Fine texture that goes frizzy no matter what the weatherâs doing
Straight-ish in places
Curlicues in other places
Wavy everywhere else
What appears to be an under-shave at my nape. Over the past decade, that area may have grown about an inch. Itâs about four inches long now, and the hair above it is about eight inches. (Yeah, I could cut it all to be the same length, but having had short hair most of my adult life, I donât wanna!)
I havenât colored it in a few years. Embracing the gray! But before then, Iâd dyed it for about 15 years. First brown or auburn, then blue and purple and fuschia. Then Iâd tried for metallic silver, which somehow ended up a very strange apricot shade. Back to colors for a while as I waited for that disaster to grow out. (I used Overtone then. Itâs more like a coloring conditioner than a dye. Itâs still messy, but not nearly as bad as actual dye.)
Recently, I shared what hair products Iâve been using. Always up to try new things, though!
Katie Hubbard, AKA @CurlyTexasMama
So, Katie, Letâs Try This Monat Stuff
My stylist works at an Aveda salon. Some people love that brand. I am not a fan. Aside from the scents (lol) it just hasnât done anything amazing enough to justify the price. I only mention it because asking my stylist for product advice is pointless.
But Katie had great advice for me! I told her all that was going on with my hair and she made some suggestions.
The Monat shampoo detoxes your scalp â a process that takes a little while, longer than the sample would accomplish. We wanted maximum impact in just a couple of days of using the products. (So, we skipped the shampoo. But Iâll definitely try it soon.)
Here Are the Monat Products I TestedÂ
The products are pretty concentrated, so I was able to get two daysâ use out of each of them.
var quads_screen_width = document.body.clientWidth; if ( quads_screen_width >= 1140 ) document.write('<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="pub-3668111356682980" data-ad-slot="5676485550" >'); (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle if ( quads_screen_width >= 1024 && quads_screen_width < 1140 ) document.write('<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="pub-3668111356682980" data-ad-slot="5676485550" >'); (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle if ( quads_screen_width >= 768 && quads_screen_width < 1024 ) document.write('<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="pub-3668111356682980" data-ad-slot="5676485550" >'); (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle if ( quads_screen_width < 768 ) document.write('<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="pub-3668111356682980" data-ad-slot="5676485550" >'); (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle
Monat Super Hydrating MasqueÂ
You squeeze out about a nickel-sized glob and apply to your hair after washing. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes and then rinse. Youâd only need to use it 1-2 times a week.Â
I really like how it left my hair feeling soft and smooth. Spending 5-10 minutes waiting for it to do the do⊠not so much. Probably, I could rearrange my morning routine to work that wait time in. But since hubby and I usually shower together, I donât really want to throw a wrench into his schedule.Â
The verdict: Not my favorite.
Monat Restore Leave-In Conditioner
You apply this â again, just a nickel-sized amount â to wet, clean hair. Rub it together in your palms to get it ready, then apply from about halfway down to the ends. Style as usual.
Now âleave-inâ is something I can get behind! This product is super convenient, made my hair feel like silk, and smelling wonderful (of course). My brush could glide through silky strands and not pull or break my hair. Itâs light enough that it didnât make my hair go limp after styling. Of course, using it for two days means I didnât get all the benefits of regular use. But with just a sneak preview of what this stuff can do, I was impressed.
The verdict: Add to cart!
Monat Rejuvabeads (split-end mender)
This one goes on clean, wet hair, too. Again with the same nickel-size amount in your palm. Rub your palms together, then apply from the middle to the ends of your hair. You can still use other styling products (I use a heat protectant) â just use this first.
I get my ends trimmed about every other month, so theyâre not in too bad shape. But still, this product is amazing. It seemed to make my hair much silkier and smoother. If itâs also somehow strengthening the ends, that can only be good, right? Plus, the scent đ
The verdict: Add to cart!
What Else Should I Try from Monat?
Iâm putting a list of which products I want to buy. Monat carries 14 shampoos, 12 conditioners, 13 special treatments (like masques, serums, and repair), and 15 styling products.
So, I asked Katie for some guidance.Â
She explained that the scalp ages about 12 times faster than the rest of our skin. The scalp gets thinner and loses its elasticity. That leads to a reduction in the number of blood vessels. And that means thinner hair, graying, and balding. (YIKES)
Important Monat Facts
Products are vegan, designed to be anti-aging
No non-soluble silicones, parabens, or sulfates
They have four formulations:
Capixyl âą â reduces scalp inflammation, strengthens and thickens hair, hydrates the scalp to stimulate natural, noticeable hair growth.
Procatline âą â promotes hair growth, reduces the production of DHT hormone (contributes to hair loss). Antioxidants combat premature thinning, boosting color and shine. Prevents hair loss and protects against environmental damage.
Crodasorb âą â acts as an intense defense against oxidative stress, protects from the sunâs damaging rays, and locks in moisture to keep strands stronger.
Rejuvenique âą â called the âholy grailâ of their products. Has 11+ unique molecular ingredients including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, beta-carotene, omega-6 fatty acids, nutrients, and amino acids. Proven to mimic the bodyâs own natural oils to reduce hair thinning, creating volume and shine.
What Will I Try Next?
After completing a hair quiz to help figure out what on earth my hair is doing, I had a consult with Katie.
She said:
Hereâs my recommendation. You will need:
A volumizing shampoo since you mentioned your hair is thinning and fine
The intense repair conditioner
Hair regrowth spray
A leave-in conditioner to protect against breakage would help seal and mend split ends and breakage
A thermal heat protector for your hot tools
 Fair enough!Â
When I was a kid, it seemed like every woman over 30 had short hair, with a few notable exceptions. I cut mine when I got married, and mostly, it stayed short for a long time. But somewhere around my early 40âs, I was ready for a change and let it grow. My preference is definitely hair that goes a bit past my shoulders. But to keep it, itâs got to get healthier!
Whatâs up with YOUR hair? Have you tried Monat?Â
If youâd like to try Katieâs quiz to see what sheâd recommend, do it right here.
You can connect with her on Instagram @curlytexasmama
Thanks, Katie!
