Wally/Barnaby: like Eve had made, she is their guardian angel who is protecting their souls especially Wally from Eddie and Eric, she's like a mother to them and they'll only call her if they encounter Eric (she'll take Eric back and ground him another month), she would sing them a lullaby if they have trouble sleeping

Eddie/Frank: She is good friends with them since Frank would invite her to sing/perform at his show while Eddie enjoys her company though she tries to convince him to stop stealing people's souls but he doesn't listen to her of course

Sally: Sally always invites Nina do perform in plays, musical performances since angels all have angelic voices that could put anyone under a relaxing and smoothing spell, Sally would also teach Nina some dancing moves (Silky also teaches her), Nina would sometimes use her magic to create beautiful light shows during performances

Poppy/Ms.Beagle: She absolutely loves hanging out with them so she would have the time to do some baking for them, she also loves to hear the stories they have

Howdy/Julie: Though she hardly knew about Howdy but she met him when Wally and Barnaby got into trouble where she had to get them out of, he suddenly fell over heels over her when he saw her dispute her being married to Bob

For Chalice, she knew that she was an ghost but since Chalice is friends with Wally and Barnaby, Nina decided to protect the three of them now

Fun fact: Nina is the angel of Love, she is like Princess Cadance from mlp, Nina can sometimes use her powers to create love and her singing as well.

Wally/Barnaby: of trying to get their souls well mostly Wally's since he was ordered by Eddie to get his soul, Eric unfortunately get into bad situations just to get Wally's soul like wearing the sweater....ouch

Eddie/Frank: Eric is always called by Eddie to do his biddings for him while Frank would just brag to Eric that Frank is proud to be Number 1 to Eddie but Eric doesn't care as long he gets the job done, he's like Henchman to Eddie so he'll sometimes act dumb

Sally: He would anything to do with performances since he's not good at dancing but Sally would encourage him to sing instead so during his disguise, he would perform anything country related

Poppy, Ms. beagle, Howdy: he's chill with them but he'll try to trick them into giving their souls but he is always unsuccessful everytime so he just let's them go

Julie: Mhmm...he was there when she made the deal with Eddie about living but he doesn't really know anything about her

Meet Gladiator!Barnaby, Empress!Ms. Beagle, and Ryan Lynton! The head leaders of the Multiversal City of CrossRoads!!

Still working on the lore and art for these guys, so ya'll will eventually see more of them much later down the line, lol

Gladiator:

The "Prince" of CrossRoads, Gladiator is the brawn of the main leaders. Similar to your classic Barnaby, he's a punny guy who's great with kids and enjoys wrestling those that wish to rival him. However, he is blind, so he depends more on his other senses when it comes to these battles.

He also has a bit of the will-they won't-they relationship with Ryan, but you didn't hear that from me-

Empress:

The "Queen" of CrossRoads, Empress is the head of it all, managing whatever political issues come up in CrossRoads, and keeping a sense of peace and comfort in this little city that they've built from the ground up. She also holds the most hatred when it comes to Creators.

Ryan Lynton:

As a former Y/N an Original Character, Ryan prefers to work in the background, serving as the main scientist/doctor/stitcher/healer in CrossRoads. Thanks to him, CrossRoads has weather, a sun and moon cycle, agriculture, and much more! He hates looking at his eyes.

Info of Welcome Home Silly Cat~

Might as well put some info I have in my latest AU of Welcome Home. I do have ideas for it. I start showing who's in it and what role they have... Don't know if I'll say puppets, humans or just leave it at that. But I'm leaning to the world of puppet (or Muppets) beings... Animals are also puppets, but they wouldn't talk, just being like regular animals. So, I guess like... Mickey Mouse owning a dog named Pluto? I don't know, still in works. Now, human-like puppets would are like the Muppets, having animal features and all. There are mostly human puppets, plus from space, but there human puppets with animal features, depending... 🤔

The Silly 'Cats' (Drawings of them as cats in works~)

Wally 'Apple' Darling - A silly and unique yellow cat with blue hair was lost in the rain until one day, he was found by a rabbit-like puppet named Eric Hopper and was taken in. Eric named him Apple due to the cat likes to stare at apples. Being treated with kindness, care and love, Apple grew to like Eric. However, in reality, his true name is Wally Darling and he isn't some average cat when he has become a handsome puppet with the exact hairstyle. He was young painter until he was use as a lab experiment. Wally had escaped at some point and lived with Eric, but fear one day he'll be taken again and Eric might get drag into his mess... (Here are the drawings of Wally as a Cat and puppet form with cat ears)

Frank 'Lucky' Frankly - A well mannered dark gray cat has been staying with a mailman named Eddie Dear. They/He go by Lucky and this grumpy like cat enjoys catching bugs and bring one to Eddie, much to Eddie's dismay. Unknown to Eddie, Lucky is actually a puppet named Frank Frankly in the same situation as Wally. Frank has found a home sooner than other victims of experiment who had escaped. Frank remains as a cat when Eddie is at home, but when at work, Frank becomes himself to watch and clean the house.. while hoping to stay hidden in case the scientists are looking for him... Julie 'Glitter' Joyful - A colorful and hyper cat who enjoys playing with many cat toys. She goes by Glitter after her 'owner' found her. She really enjoys watching her owner doing plays and loves going outside. However, she too a different for she was puppet before becoming a cat as well. Her named is Julie Joyful and she truly misses her family, wondering if they're okay after her disappearance. She actually knows Frank and Wally, even before becoming cats. She has hope Frank and Wally had escaped while living a good life she is. Julie never thought much about the danger, but she is being careful so her owner, Sally Starlet, won't get hurt... Whiskers 'Stripes' Furball - He's actually a regular cat... or so it seems. He goes by Stripes long ago and has an unique gene with him. Because of that, he has been going through harsh and cruel treatment as a lab experiment until he'd escaped. He then discovered he can become a puppet, being able to speak, walk two legs and intelligence. But learning what he use for, he'd escape... He now lives as puppet with a new name while trying to find a cure for the victims who fell into the mix. He rarely goes out, but his neighbors are willing to check on him now and then... (Unknown designs)

The Owners

Eric Hopper - A kind, shy and helpful rabbit-like puppet. He enjoys cloud watching and walking in the rain. That's how Eric found a silly yellow cat. Eric took the cat in, drying it up and decided to keep the cat as a pet, naming the cat Apple. Eric grew to like Apple very much, always enjoys Apple's company. Eric gave and put a red scarf around Apple's neck. One day, Eric finds a handsome puppet in his house... wearing the same red scarf. Eric is confused while slowly learning about Apple's name is Wally Darling and his past. Eric decides to help Wally, not knowing they're falling for each other. (Eric with Cat!Wally Should I digital this? Probably)

Eddie Dear - A clumsy, sweet mailman puppet has taking in a dark gray cat named Lucky. He enjoys seeing Lucky greeting when he comes home. The only thing he wish is that his cat would STOP bring bugs into the house to show what Lucky caught. Eddie doesn't know it, but Lucky is actually named Frank Frankly, a victim like Wally Darling. Frank has been keeping up the facade as long as he could, although... Eddie has been wondering who's been cleaning the house. Will Eddie find out? We'll see~

Sally Starlet - She's a director/actor, but it can be stressful for her. Thankfully, her sweet cat named Glitter always lighten up her days. Sally would always play and spoil her cat when she can to relax. However, Glitter isn't a normal cat as well. Her true name is Julie Joyful and doesn't mind the life a pet cat, but she truly misses her siblings, hoping to see them again. But what could she do with chances of people looking for her to take her back to the lab she'd escape from. Maybe she should ask Sally to help her, but she rather not frighten Sally.

Others

Barnaby B. Beagle - In this au verse, he's a sweet funny dog who was adopted by a kind chicken puppet. A funny, silly blue dog who is adopted by Ms. Beagle, who is like a mom to him. He likes to make friends with everyone, even if they're cats. When Ms. Beagle visitor Eric, it was when Barnaby met Apple aka Wally Darling. Funny meeting, but the two becomes friends and Wally trust Barnaby about his secret. Barnaby hopes to help Wally while enjoying hanging out with Wally which lead both Eric and Ms. Beagle to set up a play-date.

Poppy Partridge - In this au verse, Poppy is the owner of a pet hotel, good at making some food and has motherly vibes. Poppy has hear rumors about a lab doing illegal, but she doesn't fully know if it's true or not. Right now, she's focus on taking care of pets when the owners away on trips or busy with work. She happens enjoys Eric coming over to help out while she has a strange feeling about Apple.

Howdy Pillar - In this au verse, Howdy is still a shop owner, but I guess mostly like a pet store owner. He's neighbor to Poppy, Ms. Beagle and a new neighbor with no background. Howdy would deliver some pet food to Poppy when she needs some.

Home aka Dr. Chimney - Unlike in Welcome Home, Home is more puppet like and goes by Dr. Chimney, a scientist who doing experiment. At first it was harmless on trying to find some cure for most diseases, but then discover something about Stripes which he slowly loses his mind and too focus on doing illegal experiments by 'asking' puppets to volunteering in his work. However, at some point, his experiments had escape. He's trying to find them, but he has no clue where they are...

Ms. Beagle - She is a sweet chicken puppet who has a blue dog to keep her company while loving her dog like he's her child. She works as an author and is a neighbor to Eric Hopper. After seeing Apple and seeing how her dog gets along with Apple, she and Eric decide a play-date. She, of course, doesn't know about Apple's true identity.

The Joyful Siblings - Not much info, but they had been searching for their missing sister. They lived in another location and have no clues where she is. All three hopes to find her soon, but... it's been over 20s though...

And I think that's all I'll add. I am still working on it. Hopefully Frank and Julie as cats looks good.

In Y/N version... Unknown, but Y/N would be someone who found Wally as a cat in Eric's place or Eric and Y/N are roomies. How it would go is... kinda similar yet different outcome. Who knows.

ON THE TOPIC OF BARNABY. as well as his relationship with Wally.

So. To kick this off - Riv (@funonion) and I were Speculating, and they introduced me to the johari window:

They put Barnaby in the “facade” section, and I entirely agree. To quote them;

“So he’s Wally’s guide, right? He’s the “knowledgeable” one of the two and is always the one teaching him new things. And you know, it’s one thing if you’re just teaching him how to laugh or how to tell a joke. But.

Clown has given us two doors. One says that Barnaby understands Wally in a way the rest of the neighborhood doesn’t, and is willing to do his dirty work so to speak. The other says that their friendship was not a natural occurring thing and had to be enforced repeatedly within the show. HOW THAT’S BEING ENFORCED IS ANOTHER THING ENTIRELY but it is worth it to note.

What is Barnaby willing to keep? What is he willing to bury for his little buddy? I can’t say anything definitively yet, but the fact that I even have to ask is telling. The class clown archetype is usually used as a way to cover up for something else a character might be experiencing”

And my response, (I won’t directly quote because I have little things in the phrasing & elaboration to add / tweak );

Barnaby being a Comic Relief Character immediately raised so many alarms in my head. I love comic relief characters. They’re always so fucked up in one way or another, and Barnaby is almost certainly SO inauthentic. He’s wearing a comedy mask just as opaque as Wally’s own mask. In everything we’ve seen about him so far he’s either Teaching Wally, wisecracking/joking, or… pretty much nothing else. We got that moment of concern in audio 14-14, but that doesn’t reveal anything beyond genuine care for Wally.

Comedic characters have the best disguises. Their poker faces & ability to deflect is always top tier [and practiced], and just look at comedy-focused actors and entertainers - so many of them have severe issues, either with their mental health or life. From what i’ve observed both in that aspect & with fictional characters, they play it off & work hard to entertain/deflect [one in the same] right up until the end. Sometimes it’s a coping mechanism. Usually it’s both. If they laugh loud enough and make people think they’re lighthearted fools w/ nothing underneath, no one will look any deeper and thus they’re “safe”. 

& I’m a little suspicious that Barnaby’s red/orange/yellow spots aren’t naturally those colors. While yes, he could be (in-universe) designed that way to echo Ms. Beagle, there’s a strong possibility that that’s not it. What if he paints them to feel a connection to her, or it’s a physical manifestation of Barnaby covering up his insecurities/issues - what if it’s part of him striving to convince the world that he is what he paints himself as. 

The laidback funnyguy with a loving mom and not a problem in the world. 

And I mean, Barnaby claims to be a natural blue and I believe him! But the other colors? I’m doubtful

(I was going to include the Cast As Lil Kids Designs in this since Barnaby has all blue spots, but given how early in 2021 it was posted and how there seem to be little discrepancies from the ~official~ designs, I don’t want to provide it as evidence.)

& on the topic of Wally and Barnaby’s relationship being both real and not - disclaimer, this conversation happened before my Updated Thoughts On Them post, so there may be some minor rephrasing here from what I originally said - I’m sure that the relationship started out as inauthentic. Wally was assigned Barnaby as a best friend and technically vice versa, but I don’t doubt for a second that it became real to some extent. Clown wouldn’t treat their relationship outside of “canon” WH stuff the way that he does if they weren’t actually friends. They’ve said that Wally & Barnaby would be friends in every universe (which melts my heart <3 platonic soulmates my beloved <3), so then I have to agree with Riv. what WILL Barnaby do for Wally? I touched on this in the Milk Theory, but especially if Barnaby prides himself on “knowing Wally better than anything else”, what would Barn do to preserve that?

This relates to another conversation we had - Barnaby possibly having abandonment issues. It’s such a choice to have him of all characters be explicitly stated as an orphan. That and while every other Neighbor with a mentioned family have a somewhat large one (Howdy and his gajillion relatives, Julie and her three siblings, Poppy and her crowded tree [note: Eddie has a mentioned mother, but that info is tenuous and who knows if there are other Dears]), Barnaby has also explicitly stated that Ms. Beagle is his only family. That’s it. And farm life can’t be a sociable way to grow up, not with all the chores he must have had and how rural he might have grown up. Barnaby jokes that Home is the “Big Apple”, which could just be a joke - but jokes often come from a place of truth, and Home might be the most populated area Barnaby has lived in. Who’s to say!

Either way, Barnaby was orphaned one way or another, and I don’t doubt that it weighs on him. Especially if  his birth parents really did abandon him. That added to a possible life of loneliness… I wonder if he’s latched onto Wally emotionally, which would hit all the painful places if it turns out that my “Barnaby is more attached to Wally than Wally is to Barnaby” theory has merit. Abandonment issues could also strongly back the apparent walls he’s plastered over with circus tent fabric

Back to Barnaby & Wally: the fact that, at present, Barnaby and Wally seem to have the best disguises / strongest masks. That. looking at 14-14, i suspect that Barnaby is excellent at keeping his up, but as soon as Wally’s mask cracks, so does Barnaby’s. 

And then there’s the side of their dynamic that we could look at - it seems to be a very multifaceted relationship. The way that Barnaby genuinely cares yet in the 00 Halloween audio Wally was left off to the side and Barnaby was just “checking on him” while socializing (then again, this could be part of Barnaby understanding Wally & respecting his space / Wally wanting a break from that socialization). Barnaby is patient with Wally and yet he seems to sometimes treat Wally as his sidekick / let him fade into the background and yet Barnaby kept checking in on Wally during the 14 bug audios (this last one I could tie into the abandonment issues theory). 

Then there’s how Barnaby calls Wally kid & can tend to treat him like one despite both of them being in the same age group. The way that all of this could, in a way, relate to the infantilization of autistic people (no matter how well-meaning or unintentional) & internalized ableism. 

Note: Riv pointed out that Barnaby does seem to be doing the best with what he has, and that this can connect to the Johari Window’s blind spot / unknown. 

I do agree with this wholeheartedly! And I have to mention that - and making a Very educated guess here - the interactions we’ve seen take place in the very late 60s / very early 70s, so Barnaby’s behavior towards Wally is actually pretty fucking stellar given the time period. We can’t expect him to be perfect or do everything / say everything right. That would be boring I think! And one thing I deeply appreciate about the Neighbors & their dynamics is that they feel like real layered people, not cardboard cutouts being perfect caricatures of what people are “supposed” to be like.

We likely are going to reach a point where Wally asks Barnaby something that he can’t / doesn’t want to / won’t answer. And like.. Ok. This is a slight tangent but I swear it’s related! When I first discovered WH and learned the Wally basics, I wondered two things.

Are we going to watch Wally “discover” new emotions? Because he certainly has them. Clown has said that Wally only ever feels happy, and a lot of people took that to mean that Wally can’t feel anything else. I don’t think we should take that answer at face value, because. I mean. Look at the project & creator we’re talking about. Layers, guys. Indirect direct answers. I think that Clown meant that Wally only ever feels happy in the Neighborhood because he has no reason to feel any negative emotion. Everything is as it should be. Until it isn’t - and I think that’s where he’s going to have to struggle with new emotions as he encounters them through new situations/events unfolding as the “story” starts to deteriorate. We’ve actually seen this a little bit - in Wally’s record audios (i believe the chronological second to last?), the way he says “Let Me In” so insistently. That’s definitely not a positive emotion being expressed. 

How will the topic of death be handled - because it will be handled, it’s stated in the project warnings. I was wondering this even before I read the list, because I was presented with a blank slate puppet character and so went “oh fuck, this dude doesn’t know about death, does he?” Obviously I wanted to know how that would go. I want to know how it Will go! 

How would Barnaby explain emotions that Wally doesn’t know how to convey? How would Barnaby explain death in a way that Wally would understand - given that Barnaby (& all the Neighbors sans Wally) knows what death is  - and would Barnaby be willing to explain such a thing? I have a feeling we may find out.

And in a way, I suspect that if none of them know, Wally will find out himself and have to process it without help. But then again, how can something die if it was never really alive in the first place? Unless the death warning relates to human characters… I’m currently assuming it relates to both humans and puppets. 

In conclusion: Barnaby has a carefully fabricated facade, he's doing the best with what he has but it likely won't be enough, and uh. shits fucked!

Poppy Partridge Character Analysis !TW! Mental Health

She's a Baker - Remember when I said I made a "Job Theory"? Well let's swing back to it! Poppy is the resident Baker, but it's more likely she is representative / a stand in for a "Senior Citizen" in the Show, considering everyone helps her around her house / bakery, I think she's one of or THE tallest and oldest neighbor, which I headcanon her to be somewhere around 6'3 - 6'5 and 32 -36.

HOLD THE PHONE!!! - Wait, Did I notice that... POPPY IS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE THAT FRANK SMILED WITH?!?!?! I know it's a bit of a stretch, But If you search through every single artwork you can find the eddie and POPPY are the first people that frank is shown smiling with. It makes sense with eddie but why poppy? Ain't julie their bestie???

Possible Agoraphobia??? - Let's go in Mental Health analysis!! Poppy may have Agoraphobia, if her general Worry and Fear is the reason she never leaves her Barn, Then that explains why she stays at home most of the time. Similarly with why she doesn't use her own cooking appliances in overthinking that someone's gonna get hurt and that makes her trustworthy through this ARG.

Aside Time!!!! - Poppy's Professional Relationship is with Howdy Pillar, who personally delivers all her groceries, but her Personal Relations are with both Wally Darling and Frank Frankly: Poppy is shown hugging Wally, and holding onto Frank's arm when standing. The assisted standing with Frank also adds to the possibility that Poppy is Convalescent, Meaning she may be recovering from an unknown illness causing her needing support.

Was an effeminate boy? - Y'all already know that Poppy is a Trans woman. But we can see that she was a girl but I like to believe that she was an effeminate boy that loved "girly" things so ofc she would be bullied for it, But what made her successfully become a woman was her best friend, Sally / Byeol Cheoleom. Sally encouraged her all the way while poppy was transitioning and Poppy made it.

Ethnicity Analysis Time!!! - I believe that Poppy is a Mestiza, a mestiza is a woman of mixed European and indigenous non-European ancestry in the former Spanish Empire. In certain regions such as Latin America, it may also refer to people who are culturally European even though their ancestors are indigenous. Plus, I think she's a red legged partridge that is NATIVE TO SPAIN.

Poppy's Story - Paulo "Pauly" Perdiz was born in 1937 half British Half Spanish. He was bullied for being a "Pansy" but he met friends and knew he wasn't alone, In highschool in the early 50s Paulo became Poppy as she thought the name was pretty and completed transitioning into a girl. One day she found out that Howard (Analysis on him later) became a Bodeguero and promoted to Owner, So Poppy worked there as the Pilar's Bodega baker. She got isekai'd in WH and then it was too late, She totally got killed *sobs in rushed*
