BIG achievement : I am surviving our crazy Sunday morning, have taught the kiddos how to arrange & compartmentalise their toys, have not screamed at anyone yet, have replied 1 email, and actually have spare bathroom time to do the post. I have also made 2 little humans who are now (sort of) able to help me model my designs. . . Day 29 of @joannehawker's #MarchMeetTheMaker . . C O M M U N I T Y . . Part of being a successful creative business owner means actively socialising and being part of a creative community, especially your local community, but no one else will understand how difficult that is unless you are a mildly extroverted introvert like myself, who easily feels a need to detox right after exchanging a little too much small talk and fake pleasantries just to get past the beginning stage. I am very lucky to have found a small group of like-minded friends, from all over the world, who are all creative in their own ways, be it as their full-time job or hobby. 💖 Part of operating such a personalised retail business also means I have made countless friends and soul mates from my group of loyal customers too! 💖 After 8 years of that, my community continues to grow and change in very different ways since motherhood came along 6 years ago. I now have weekly kindy-parent groups lunches, my playdate mummies group, ASD-therapy mummies group, swim class mummies group, and my mumpreneur friends. #MarchMeetTheMaker DAY 7 . • R O U T I N E • . Once upon a time, I used to work obsessively all the way till 4am, and woke up in time for lunch. Right now, my work routine revolves around these two impish ones. In this photo, I had to schedule a work meeting at the Ikea cafe during a no-school day, and my mother wasn't around to babysit, which means they got to tag along. My current work routine is different every day, except for the time I am woken up at 6.30am (because you don't need any alarms when you have a 2 year old), then waking my mental self up with a mandatory cup of coffee an hour later, and dinner time at 6pm & thereafter (play time, shower time, reading time & finally bedtime). What goes on in between those hours is really just me trying (and often times struggling) to squeeze in bouts of work and getting important adult things done. Orders are always timely processed and sent out everyday since that is a whole other, separate 'operation'. But replying emails that only I myself can attend to, creative work, work work, paperwork, going out for work meetings and such, are juggled on a daily basis. Often times, I can only be productive after their bedtime, like right now. B o o k s B l o g s P o d ca s t s . . Day 26 #MarchMeetTheMaker . . . Almost wanted to skip this (as I did with the stories one 😆) because I have nothing interesting/helpful to share hahaha... but ah well... I don't listen to/follow any podcast/blog in particular, only random ones, but I do read every day. My adult list consists mainly of fiction/fantasy novels, with some psychology/ design/ art/ craft/ business/ self-improvement titles every now and then. I have not read any new adult titles since last October. What I have been consistently reading every night are books that I can read to and read with my kids, particularly my older one. The last one we completed together was The Little Mermaid which a friend gifted me last year. All the others are our current selections for before bedtime reading.
