Keep reading for statistics and ways you can help! 🪶Indigenous Women (girls +) murdered 10x higher than all other ethnicities. 🌙Murder is the 3rd leading cause of death for Indigenous Women (Centers for Disease Control). 🪶More than 4 out of 5 Indigenous Women have experienced violence (84.3%) (National Institute of Justice Report). 🌙More than half Indigenous Women experience sexual violence (56.1%). 🪶More than half Indigenous Women have been physically abused by their intimate partners (55.5 percent). 🌙Murder rate of Indigenous Women is 3xs higher than Anglo-American women. So, how can you help? 1. Safely attend an event, candle light vigil, or prayer circle in your local community. 2. Support MMIWG2S pages, resources, and communities. My beautiful country had its innocence tainted. And I am angry because of it. Yes, we have our flaws but what right does that give a pack of monsters to come and shoot our people? And they are ours. Even if some are migrants, the second they crossed the border and made NZ home, they became my sisters and brothers. They ARE New Zealanders.

They should have been safe. No one should ever be endangered going to pray.

I don’t understand the monsters behind this. I don’t want to and I refuse to. There is no justification for attacking and killing others.

25 years ago today Americans Timothy McVeigh and accomplice Terry Nichols, in an act of Domestic Terrorism, planted a Ryder rental truck with explosives and parked it in front of a Federal Building in Oklahoma. It exploded, ripping through the Federal building and killing 168 people including 19 children. 680 more were injured and it caused over $682 million worth of city damage. Between Pearl Harbor and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Oklahoma City bombing was the deadliest deliberate attack on the United States. The two White Supremacists (and ex-U.S. military) were spouting radical right, racially-motivated ideologies. The 26 year old white McVeigh was obsessed with guns and increasing hostility toward the US Government (esp. after the bumbling Federal raid on Waco) and this was his 'revenge.' Sadly, this event seems to be increasingly forgotten. Yet in today's political climate we are seeing that same hateful ideology grow even more among Neo-Nazis, Far-Right extremists and other radical Right groups. It's important that we remind our children and their children that the 'enemy' is not someone who looks different, dresses differently, speaks differently or prays to a different God, but is someone who lacks the ability to see the value in being human at the most base level.
