A coming of age story taking place in the year 1970 in the HOWLER'S universe. Wynd Touchet is a hippie from Louisiana who becomes a lover to the protagonist Mark Meier. Wynd takes Mark on a cross country adventure of love, self discovery, the first pride march, and the Vortex festival in Oregon.

Elvira? More like El-bi-ra, amiright? Get it? Elvira? Bi? Because she finally came out?! Although,  let's be honest, most of us picked up on her queer coding and subtle cues a loooong time ago lol. Especially when she was a guest judge on Ru Paul's Drag Race. That was a pretty obvious hint. 😉 And what a lovely coincidence that she came out on bi visibility week, and also a full moon, and the autumn equinox. Synchronicity, baby!Ooh, and she was also a Beatlemaniac mod hippie! Great minds think alike... HotD/Howler's Universe Lore Dump

So, since I am posting a bit more art about Hair of the Dog, I'd figure I would share with y'all a bit about the universe I have this set in.

This universe is one where were-creatures evolved syncretically with humans. In the past they were seen as spiritual guides, and as a reminder of the human connection with nature and animals.

For the majority of human history, these were-creatures were thought of as myth. Until the Industrial Revolution and Urbanization meant that weres too moved into the cities. Making the myth, a known reality.

Depending on when the story takes place, is how accepted and understood weres are. in HotD, weres are still seen as an uncomfortable reminder of humans animal side, and seen as being corrupters considering they can turn humans. (spoiler, it's not just biting, because I am a kinky bastard.)

Certain places are more friendly to weres. One notable place is Wereton, Jefferson. (This is located where Gold Beach/Wedderton Oregon is in our universe) Wereton's history is a bit of a combination of San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. (Complete with press gangs in the 1800s and a large queer presence) The prorposal for Jefferson to become a state back before Pearl Harbor went through in 1949/1950, so during the events of HotD, it's a fairly young state with many ties to Oregon and California. Weres are usually have full faculties when in animal form. Occasionally they will be more like the Hollywood Werewolves, such as cases of people transforming without knowing what's going on. Or, in the cases of Skinwalkers, an active choice. Skinwalkers are weres who reject the ideas of coexisting with humans. They lash out against humans in violence, actively hunting them for food/sport, or turning without consent. Skinwalkers are evil, plain and simple. I based this off of the stories I heard from my parents, and is based on the Ute Nation stories.

The Edgar Allen Poes Moonchild Music Extravaganza

Another bit of fan art from my WIP novel, Hair of the Dog. This time, featuring a band comprised of Werecreatures that Mark and Wynd help on their tour. Featuring: Sam: Were-raven, lead guitarist and main vocalist Tom: Were-aligator, Rhythm guitarist. Self proclaimed sane one. Shawn: Were-Wolverine, Bassist, and Zack's Lover. Quiet and Strong Zack: Were-Rat Percussionist, Secondary vocalist, and Shawn's Lover. Brash and Loud.

I am really proud of myself with how consistent I have been with writing "Hair of the Dog". Right now it's Six chapters and over 10k words! I am also really tempted to draw/get character art for the characters.

Wynd has a version of Colinda that he specifically sings for Mark.

GAY WEREWOL F MATH!

So, in the Misadventures of Writing an LGBTQ+ Werewolf Hippie Roadtrip Romance, I have to actually plot out... the road trip portions.

I am calculating distances between cities, calculating how long it would take for them to get to said locations all with a specific time constraint... I am doing... GAY WEREWOLF MATH!

So, recently I have been inspired to write in my Howler's Universe. It's an alt history setting where werecreatures exist alongside humans.

Originally, it was a kinky, thirsty sort of setting involving what amounted to a werecreature LGBTQ Strip Club/Burlesque/Gentleman's club.

So, recently been kicking around an idea of a queer hippie werewolf story in universe. And initially I was worried about me dropping it like a lot of my writing projects.

But today, I ended up Hyperfocusing and forgot I spent two hours setting up a meet-cute. So, here's hoping it sticks.
