• My first Physics lab was today and I chose to do the Calorimeter experiment. I was so anxious and I could barely sit still cause I had no idea what the test was going to be like. The tutor only asked two questions and I answered the second one and I didn’t practice a response before hand so my German was lacking but she told the Professor my answer was intelligent lmao. I’m not sure why she did that but I appreciated it a lot. I plan to start working on the report tomorrow. It was easier than I expected though, I just hope my partner is wayy more serious than I am

• Afterwards I had a Technical Mechanics lecture for about 2 hours. I dont know what it is that makes physics professors jump on desks whenever they have the chance. But good for them regardless😭. There’s a tutorial for this class tomorrow but it coincides with another class so I’ll have to forgo one of them.

• I made some Anatomy notes and I wanted to try the Blurting method but I was so tired and I wasn’t feeling it at all. I still made some progress though, thanks to @thelastneuron ‘s vaguely threatening tag<3. So I’m calling it a night and I’ll attempt that tomorrow morning.

• I went to the grocery store even though I didn’t need to and it started raining and hailing on my way home. I didn’t have an umbrella. The hail just so bad💀. But I was too excited it was hailing to be upset. I also wore my crocs and my toes were numb and aching before I was halfway home. Definitely regret that part.

You kicked your shoes off at your apartment and immediately went to change out of your clothes.

“Stupid fucking outfit…” you complained as you pried the clothes off of you. You changed into some sweats and plopped onto your couch.

You grabbed the remote and turned on something you weren’t too invested in. You grabbed your phone and scrolled on it for a bit. After you got bored of that you got up and grabbed your car keys and turned off the tv.

You threw on some crocs and exited your apartment and made a beeline to your car and started to drive it. You turned up the radio and put your playlist on the speakers and went on your way.

You were in the isle full off candy, listening to some of your favorites songs through your earbuds. You scanned the racks of candy. You finished the priorities of your grocery shopping—which was what you were going to eat for dinner. You had a little money left over, so why not spend it on snacks for the movie you’re going to watch.

You grabbed loads of candy and popcorn that you can pop for your movie. You opened your phone to change the song when you felt someone fall into you, effectively making you drop all of your stuff in your carrier.

“And there goes all of my stuff…” you muttered before looking up to see who it was. It was Jenna! And Melissa was behind her with the look of guilt contorting her face. Then she made eye contact with you and made a short but loud laugh.

“Jenna I’m so so so sorry” she laughed again “I didn’t mean to push you that hard” she wheezed out before putting her hand on one of the shelves for support.

You helped Jenna up while giggling. She dusted herself off and helped you pick up your snacks.

“It’s fine,” she gave Melissa a mean stare “what’s all this for?” She asked you while smiling questioningly.

“Uh— I’m going to have a movie night.” You nervously laughed. Jenna just stared at you like you were the best thing since sliced bread.

Melissa nudged Jenna.

“Er, right! Um that seem cool. What are you watching?” Jenna rubbed her arm behind her back.

I walked past these socks at Walmart last week, thinking I'd shared them before, but I double-checked, and--nope! New designs!

I went to a craft fair that weekend and found Rick and Morty Croc charms. Never leave the house without Rick flipping you off.

Today, I thought I'd visit a mall about 40 minutes away that I haven't visited in years, thinking I might find some new merchandise. I drove all the way up there, and...nope. All the retail stores are gone. Apparently, the owners are redesigning the property as a restaurant/entertainment space.

Fuck!

Another mall sits nearby, but I rarely go there because they don't carry much Rick and Morty merchandise, either. They don't even have a Spencer's! But it's been a while, so I decided to give it a shot.

No luck. The only thing I liked is that their Hot Topic has the old brick entrance that I remember from my youth. I wish it still had the creepy sign, but I guess Hot Topic is less "goth" and more "nerd" these days.

I'd given up hope when I spotted a bootleg streetwear store. The one in a mall that I usually visit closed for some reason, so I thought I'd give it a shot. And boy, did it deliver!

I've posted some of these designs before, but I haven't done a streetwear roundup before, so...eh, fuck it.

Kinda sad that I wasn’t around for Naruto in it’s heyday. I see the artwork, read the stories, read the old posts and feel the energy and see how vibrant and lively the fandom was and get all the feels. I look at artwork or read fics from 10 years ago and am like, “wow, 25,694 people liked that?! I’m happy to get a couple hundred on a good day, a couple dozen on a normal, lol. Was the base THAT big??” I feel like everybody’s family and I’m peeking in the window after the party’s over. I can’t think of any other word than sad or melancholic to think that I can never be part of that community because I can’t change the past.

However, I also appreciate it because the show was so iconic and has left such an amazingly large imprint on society. I can’t go to the mall, a bookstore, a comic shop, arcade, department store, etc…without seeing Kakashi, Naruto, Sasuke, or Sakura (I could have just said Team 7) or Itachi or that darn Akatsuki cloud, or Obito’s iconic orange swirl mask on some merchandise or clothing or artwork. Or a cardboard standup. Or see a whole section devoted to them in Lunchbox or Hot Topic. Or can’t help but seeing at least half a dozen kids with a t-shirt, backpack, baseball cap, pin, etc… on any given day (I work in schools). Or even at the shoe store - went to Footlocker and they had all of the Naruto crocs and I was blissfully content for at least five seconds. Or even in general public, walking down the busy street or seeing people in my office, at least one person a day has something Naruto. Talk about a legacy.

I remember talking to a kid one day at work, he was maybe 15-16, and he saw my keychain and was like, “hey isn’t that Pakkun, the Naruto dog??” (Don’t judge - my key ring consists of Pakkun, Yor Forger (Spy x Family), a turtle, Naruto, and my poor little one-legged Kakashi, which to this day I still have no idea how his leg came off, but gosh darn it, they don’t make him anymore so I refuse to take him off that key chain). So, when I think about it most of the kids today that I interact with and watch the show weren’t around either, like my niece and nephew. But I still feel like I missed so much. I think I’m still stuck in 25th anniversary mode and am still kind of in awe. So, bear with me. That’s why I’m grateful for the interwebs. But what I wouldn’t give to be able to sit down and have a conversation about the latest episode. To feel that excitement and longing for the next and having to wait a week, instead of just hitting “next episode,” which I do appreciate, don’t get me wrong.” It’s just I don’t know…different. I’ve been watching anime and reading manga for years and still watch various ones, and still nothing has hit me like Naruto. Like my u/n says I’m not sorry I’m late, I just wish I could have been there a little earlier, but I am grateful that I get to enjoy the present and have this little corner of the web.

one of our most inept workers (who head office previously tried to ice out by giving her close to no shifts for a month straight in order to avoid the termination pay. Instead of quitting she just pulled up to her only shift in 2 weeks like "this is so weird but I think they forgot to book me I dont know whats going on– should i start looking for another job?" GIRL...?!!) showed up wearing crocs today. We had a lenient TL– an old lady with foot pain who will wear sneakers herself (instead of the mandatory steel toes) if she knows she can get away with it (which is usually)... this is the woman who went out of her way to buy steel toe boots for this girl because she was worried that she had been pulling up in some knock off dollar store type crocs because she couldn't afford anything else. Apparently this isnt the case. Where were the steel toes? "I didn't feel like wearing them." Its policy to send people home if they dont come prepared. After spending 2 hours on public transit to get there... her ass was sent right back...... 😭

A/n: Once this idea arrived in my head I couldn’t get it out. So uh here it is. Hope you like it.

The apartment was silent apart from the tapping of your keyboard as you sat at your desk with no light other than the glow of your laptop. Your goal was to write a thousand words today, but coming up with a plot felt like running your brain against a cheese grater. Closing your eyes, you reached for your water bottle and found it was empty.

“Maybe it’s time for a snack run…” You muttered, grabbing your phone to check for messages.

You chuckled and shook my head as you locked your phone and slipped your crocs on. As you make your way down to the convenience store on the corner, you catch a glimpse of your favorite part-timer. She was a high school student who worked there most nights and she was kind enough to not judge your regular snack/energy drink trips.

“Welcome in! Good to see you again.” She smiled familiarly, glancing up from her study materials.

“Are you studying for your entrance exams?” You asked her in response, mindlessly grabbing your usual bags of snacks.

“Yeah, they're coming up here in a month or two.” She nodded and then went back to studying as you loaded your arms with snacks and drinks. The second you removed your card from the reader you felt your phone start to buzz. You pulled it out from your pocket and smiled fondly at the face on your screen.

“What’s up baby?” Your smile grew wider as you pushed the convenience store door open and met the cool night/early morning air.

“We’re taking a little break, so I just wanted to hear your voice honey.” He cooed through the phone. You rolled your eyes, chuckling.

“I’m bringing you guys some snacks, so wait to start until after I get there. Prepare yourself for a smooch.” You teased, joy flushing your chest at his giggle.

“I’m always ready for smooches.” He countered, trying to come across as charming as ever despite the fact that he was definitely kicking his feet and twirling his hair.

“I’m getting in the taxi right now, love, so I’ll text you when I get there yeah?” You flagged down one of the many vehicles with green signs, snacks securely hanging from your arm.

“Okayyyy. Be safe baby. I’ll see you soon.” He kissed into the microphone and it took everything in you not to laugh at him.

“I will. Love you Bin.” You let him say it back before hanging up and instructing the cab driver.

“You must be one lucky lady,” the cab driver commented as he pulled up to drop you off in front of the JYP building. “The traffic is usually building up right now.” You nodded, well experienced in such traffic from your many late-night trips to visit your boyfriend.

When you made it up to Channies recording room, you overheard familiar voices coming from the cracked door.

“No, seriously. I hope she tells you guys about it. It’s so cool. She just like came up with it?? Out of her head?? Like she even drew a map of the world she CREATED!”

“Who could you possibly be talking about?” You teased as you eased the door open. Changbin’s eyes lit up at the sight of you, rising from his seat.

“He was just telling us how good of a writer you are- again.” Channie teased, chuckling. You playfully swat your boyfriends arm.

“Quit hyping me up so much to them. They’ll be disappointed when they find out it’s not that good.”

“But you ARE good! Amazing even! And I can’t help it! I’m your hype boy!” He smiled widely at his clever joke.

When your book was finally published, you felt some semblance of relief on your shoulders. For now, you could take a break from writing into the early hours of the morning almost every night. Perhaps cut back on coffee and energy drinks and listen to Changbin’s nagging.

You returned to the apartment from a PR meeting for the book and found a large package on the step. It was so heavy you had to slide it into the entry way with your foot, your brows furrowed in confusion.

“Binnie?” You called out, knowing he was somewhere in the home.

“Yeah baby?” He called out from the kitchen.

“Did you order some dumbbells or something?” You asked, slipping your shoes off while still looking at the box.

“Huh? No… Is there a package for me- oh right! It’s finally here!” He excitedly ran over and lifted the box, trying to quickly remove it from your sight. He forgot to cover up the large publishing company logo on the side in his hurry.

“Stop right there you beautiful man.” You commanded and he froze in his tracks. “What did you order from my publishing company?”

“Um… dumbbells? Books about working out?” He shrugged sheepishly before setting the box down with a sigh. “Fine, I’ve been caught. I’ll show you what I got.” He quickly opens the box and reveals many copies of… your book?

“Seo Changbin what is this?” You ask softly, your eyes glued to the illustrated covers.

“I bought 15 copies of your book.” He said simply, as if he was talking about buying clothes or a smoothie.

“What could you possibly do with 15 copies?” You looked up at him

“I’m gonna give them out. 7 of them for the guys, one copy for my parents, one for my sister, a few more for my friends, and of course one for me. I was gonna ask you to sign them.” His cheeks were pink but his eyes widened at the tiny tears threatening to fall from your eyes. “Oh no, did I do something wrong?” He asked, unsure if you were angry or not.

“I love you a lot, you know that?” You finally spoke, tears now sliding down your cheek. He came over and swept you into a big hug, holding you tight and kissing your head.

Later, you snuck out of bed to sign the first copy of the 15 he had bought. You left a red lipstick kiss and signed it,

Doll review time!

today I received via target the Sunny and Luna Madison two-pack, which i had had my eye on for a while but decided i would wait on a sale for them. and they went on sale recently for 50% off! they were 25 dollars (plus shipping, as my target was unable to let me reserve one for in-store pickup so i had to order them shipped) but in my opinion a very good price for both of them!

i really appreciate that RH always has the color-coordinated stands. saves me from having to get cheap generic stands every two seconds like with mh LMAO. also, Sunny is actually my first Rainbow high doll, since all my other girls are shadow high! i also noticed that shadow high has slightly different stands with spikes on them as compared to the RH ones.

here's the back of their hair.

Sunny's hair is CRUNCHY. i'm talking rock solid. for this elaborate hairstyle she has though, i understand why. Even though i could probbaly at least get the four dangling curls looking nicer with a wash and re-curl, for now at least i'm content to leave her as-is. Luna's hair is significantly less crunchy and more in line with the typical amount of gel for this curl pattern. out of the box it is in two distinct halves, but i separted the curls a bit to give her some more volume.

now, for some individual details.

I'll start with Sunny! In my opinion, she's the clear winner of the pack, and one of the cutest RH designs ever. the reason i was interested in this pack was for her adorable outfit, as well as the fact I like this Luna outfit more than her basic doll.

first up, her face! Sunny's very cute, but what struck me the most with this doll is her hair clips! she has 5, and theyre all different colors. combined with her shooting star earrings, there's a lot to love. I'm very fond of the yellow and rainbow color scheme of this doll.

Her shoes! yep, heel crocs. and leg warmers. it's so ridiculous and over the top, just like everything about this outfit. they're perfect.

I took her jacket off to kook at what she's wearing under it. the little decal on the shirt is surrounded with embroidered safety pins. cute!

the skirt is two layers. the pain white skirt, and the clear plastic with stickers layer over that. i love the pocket details, though they aren't seen much with the shirt and jacket over them. i do like to see that they're there though!

one thing that struck me with this doll is without the jacket, her outfit is actually not very yellow at all! it's mostly white

as for that tiny jacket, it's as pretty and detailed for its size as i'd espect out of rainbow high. tiny ruffle details, pockets, and drawstrings. on the back is a little cartoon sunny with some more rainbows, and a sun and moon that match her hairclips. also, a little cameo of the bear bag.

I love the decora (i think, correct me if im wrong im not super knowledgeable about jfashion cultures) influences on her. everything has a cute and childish vibe, but while altogether its definitely something i could see one of my more fashionable friends wearing around our college campus. a 10/10 sunny (i think she's definitely the designer's favorite)

next up, Luna!

Luna is quite pretty as well, and im a sucker for the series one grayscale dolls. they're such a unique concept! however, I feel like she just lacks that last bit of punch that sunny has. maybe because she doesn't have quite as many acccesories? maybe some hairclips for her too, or a necklace.

here's her face! I love her face in this doll, I'm pretty sure the mold is identical to sunny's (they are twins, after all) but their makeup makes them look really different to me imo. epectually from a distance, Luna looks a bit more mature. in person as well, her eyes are quite clearly a lovely shade of purple, (that isn't too intense as to ruint the grayscale effect) though it seems like it doesn't come off well in the pictures.

not as many details to show off for Luna, but here's a close-up on the shoes. my roommate said she recognized them so im sure theyre in referece to some designer shoes (as RH/SH often does) that i'm not familiar with.

nothing particularlt special from the back. but you can see the little attachement loops on the belt to the skirt a bit better.

he'res her bag, though it's not as fun as sunny's bear bag, it's quite cute, and light enough that it can be held up by Luna with the small handle, or worn on the shoulder instead. it also opens, which i always like to see.

Final thoughts: This is my favorite of the twin 2-packs out of RH/SH so far, I think they're gorgeous and well worth the sale price. Sunny in particular is once again proving to be of the most consistently well-designed characters of the whole line (i love her Fantastic Fashion look as well, and while yellow + rainbows is basically always sunny's thing, I think this is the best execution of it out of all her dolls. I also really prefer this luna to her series 1 doll, where the chrome is more contained and it looks more like an actual outfit you might see in a high school. happy to add both of them to my collection!

chapter 2.

ugh. i skipped class again.

these past couple days i fell sick so i haven’t left my dorm once. my roommate left for a couple of days to visit her family, but at least before leaving she had left some medicine for me to take which was very thoughtful of her.

it’s currently 7pm and all i’ve done so far today is rot in my bed. i’ve been craving some ramen since yesterday so i think i’ll go to the convenience store (though i’m reaaally lazy).

i didn’t even think twice before walking out of my dorm. i didn’t bother changing and was still wearing my pjs, a pair of crocs and the first jacket i came across in my closet. i had a mask on so at least no one from campus could recognise me (especially with how much of a mess i looked).

i went to heat up my food in the microwave at the convenience store. “tss- fuck it burns,” i exclaimed whilst taking the ramen out of the microwave. “you should be more careful” i heard a voice approaching me, i turned around and the guy from the cafe (and my uni) was here, “yeah i figured, thank you” i bowed to excuse myself and rushed to sit at the window seat of the store. i really hope he didn’t recognise me.

not long after he followed and sat next to me. i tried to ignore him and covered my head with the hood of my hoodie, quickly eating my ramen. “are you from my uni?” he sparked a conversation, which i couldn’t just ignore. “yeah” i responded as i slurped the noodles. “oh cool, i asked since the convenience store is right next to it and well… you’re in pjs” he chuckled whilst he opened his pre-made meal. “yeah i haven’t really been attending classes these days, i’ve been sick,” he nodded and then began rummaging through his backpack. “here!” he handed me a vitamin drink, “vitamin drinks are good for short-term sickness, it will reduce headaches. so i hope it helps!” i turned to face him, he was smiling.

“oh! you’re the girl from the cafe!” he says with a surprised tone. oh my god. i forgot i wasn’t wearing my mask. i covered my face quickly embarrassed at the state in which i was in. he tilted his head in confusion, “i’m not trying to spread my illness.. sorry. but yes that’s me” i moved my hand away from my face slowly. he smiled softly like the time i gave him my cookie in the cafe, “it’s okay i’ve taken my supplements i should be healthier than healthy! oh and, i didn’t catch your name yet, i’m kim gyuvin from the education department!”

“you want to become a school teacher?” i couldn’t help but wonder, “well yeah! i’m studying to become a kindergarten teacher, soo.. something like that” he said and scratched the back of his neck, “i initially was studying business administration but soon realised i hated it,” my eyes widened at the difference of each degree, “i have a friend who i consider my younger brother and i’ve practically known my whole life, his name is han yujin! not that you care haha, but he made me realise how much i loved taking care of kids like babysitting and stuff…”

that night, me and gyuvin spoke for a good 3 hours. he ended up bringing me back to my dorm and gave me a bag of supplements to cure this sickness of mine (how kind of him~). we walked slowly as to not get caught by the night guard since we came back past curfew time.

at last, we finally acquainted ourselves.

Day 15 of posting: Going to be honest today was uneventful other than I went to the store and got stressed about my money because I had to pay for the PIPE DAMAGE CAUSED BY KILLER CROC so I bought the generic brand ketchup and kept wincing at the taste why did I do this to myself

“okay. i’ll take off and we can hang out today as long as you help me clean my house today. it’s wreck” you say and when jungkook lets his guard down, you slip from his grasp and head into the bathroom leaving a pouty jungkook by himself. as you’re freshening up in the shower, jungkook sneaks his way inside and freshens up with you because “we can save water that way” but you know he just wants to be closer to you.

once you both finish freshening up, jungkook sports a simple jacket, t-shirt, ripped jeans, balenciaga boots, and his jewelry is a simple chain but despite the simplicity, he looks hella expensive and smells hella good.

you however have nothing to wear because jungkook had donated all of your old belongings. yes, ALL OF THEM so because jungkook is the best partner ever, he requests a guard of his to get you a juicy couture tracksuit and an expensive pair of nike’s to match cause he’s boujee like that and undergarments from calvin klein. you’re in love with the soft material of the tracksuit, not to mention your ass looks nice in it. after that, the two of you headed off to get lunch together and even went shopping because jungkook wanted to replenish all the items chaeyoung destroyed.

you were walking out of malls and stores with bags and bags of items that the moment you set your eyes on it or expressed interest in it, jungkook bought it to much of your reluctance. the public of course took pictures of the two of you together because technically he was still dating chaeyoung yet here he is smiling ear to ear with you, and kissing your cheek or your hand any chance he got.

you want those pink crocs with the barbie jibbitz? he bought them.

you like that fenty beauty lipgloss at sephora? he bought it.

you want that big pink bunny stuffy for your room? he bought it.

he found a cute hello kitty stuffy and guess what? YOU bought it.

by the time the two of you were finished stirring up news at the mall, you both were off to his mother’s home so jungkook could apologize to her for blowing up like he did.

once the two of you were at the front door, jungkook used his key to get in and let you in first.

“mmm, it smells delicious. whatcha cooking now, ms. ji-ae?”

“h-hi sweetheart” says ji-ae who pulls you into a tight hug. “what are you two doing together? wait, before we talk about that, i believe SOMEONE owes me an apology”

“you know better than to disrespect me like that, jeon jungkook. you…you were acting like your father. who do you think you are to raise your voice at me like that? i-i’m your mother” ji-ae tries to sound strong but it doesn’t hide the hurt in her voice. her son hurt not only her feelings but scared her and she feels as though she failed as a parent because he reminded her of jaekuk.

her hands cover her face and your run your hand up and down ji-ae’s back. you really hate seeing her cry.

Jungkook feels like shit when he sees his mother cry like that, and he doesn’t even get angry when she compares him to his father because she’s not wrong.

He really broke her heart and how could he when he is the only one she’s got left in this world… just like he has her and you. Jungkook feels tears well up his eyes, and his heart is sinking in his chest because he has never disrespected his mother like that- and it’s all because of her.

“어머니…” he whispers, stand still beside the counter of the kitchen… while you’re Comforting his mother, he thinks about just how perfect you are for him and his family because you do have some really great family values and you never get jealous of the love he has for his mother unlike someone.

“I’m so sorry- I REALLY AM.” He walk over to her and he hugs the both of you. “slap me please because I deserve it…. B-But I never intended to break your heart like that and it hurts me a lot that you are crying because of me… mama please just say something.” Jungkook is hugging her tightly. Well, his one hand is resting on your waist.

“I-I just got scared that she would try to hurt you because everyone knows how important you are to me and she already hurt yn… and the way you got so happy when she told you she was pregnant— mama it’s not my baby! I swear it’s not. And if you really want to be a grandmother, it’s gonna be with a woman that I really love..”

Of course he’s referring to you, but you haven’t exactly gotten back together, explicitly. And he is going to ask you tonight to be his girlfriend officially.

Bf and i had a date day today!! We went to the mall and i bought some cute charms for my crocs! And we got some really cute shirts from boxlunch!! And he held my hand the whoooole time and led me through all the people amd when a store was too busy for me he agreed and we left. And then we got yummy dinner and came home and watched a movie and cuddled

Monday, August 5 - Kuri Bay

We had a fairly relaxing day today - there was only one excursion, and it was fairly short, and there weren't as many lectures and activities as usual (although there was Trivia). Our trip ashore was around 11, so we spent some time sitting on our balcony before and catching up on emails, news, etc.

Kuri Bay has been the site of pearl farming for around 100 years, starting with Japanese who mainly harvested the oysters for the mother-of-pearl which was used in everything from jewelry, decoration, and especially buttons. After the advent of plastic buttons the industry languished for a while, but then was reborn as a cultured pearl farm. The oysters are "seeded" with a bit of material, and then put on racks here in Kuri Bay, where they are allowed to grow for two years, being regularly cleaned (for barnacles, etc.) After two years, the oysters are harvested and the pearl is removed. If it is considered to be a saleable pearl, the oyster gets seeded a second time for another two years - if not, the meat is harvested and sold and the shell is saved for the nacre, or mother-of-pearl.

We took a tour of the facility here, with the lodging and recreational areas - the actual real sorting, grading, etc. is back in corporate HQ in Darwin. It's a two week on, one week off schedule, and everyone gets around by Mallard seaplane. While we were there, our ship offered seaplane rides, which were fairly expensive for about 10 minutes in the air.

Near the end of our tour we got to a lovely overlook point, and could see the bay and the entire operation below. We descended to a covered area with fans (it was quite hot in the sun, and although this is the "dry"season, it was still plenty humid). Here our guide opened an oyster to see what we could find, opening it completely (something they don't do if they are going to reseed the oyster). Inside was a fairly nice pearl, on the smallish size, but round and with a nice luster. We were the sixth group, and in the little dish are the pearls from the first five pearls as well. "Ours" was the lower one on the right in the picture. One of the interesting things is that there is always a little pea crab inside the oyster - it seems to be a symbiotic relationship, and every healthy oyster has one. I wasn't sure what future it has when its oyster is harvested.

After the unveiling of the pearl, we passed their small sales area - these are not cheap pearls, and the least expensive was several thousand dollars. According to some folks who went to the stores in Broome, these are among the most expensive and are probably pricier here than in their showroom in Broome. They also had samples of the oyster meat - it was a bit like scallops (no surprise there), as well as some with a little teriyaki type sauce, which was delicious along with a glass of Australian bubbly (it was after noon, after all!).

The water here is much clearer than some of the other places we have been along the coast, and as we walked back on the pier to the Zodiacs, we saw a smallish shark in the water. According to the locals it was probably a tawny nurse shark. I did forget to mention that I saw my first Aussie crocodile yesterday while we were in Talbot Bay, swimming towards our ship. It looked like a log with the naked eye, but when I got the binoculars on it, it was a pretty good sized specimen. By the time I raised the camera, though, it had sunk below the surface. We should get some chances to see more crocs when we get to Hunter River tomorrow.

Our team finally won in trivia, and now have a reputation to uphold - we were lucky to know several answers that no other team got, and that gave us double points for those answers. Mostly, though, it is just luck when the questions align with our somewhat arcane knowledge. But there are a lot of laughs, and our cruise director, Lupi, makes it really fun.

Tomorrow we move up the coast to another area with lots of exposed ancient sandstone and mangrove forests, and it should be good for wildlife viewing. We will have two Zodiac excursions to slightly different habitats, so it should be interesting. Sailing away from Kuri Bay this afternoon we could see all the markers for the oyster racks - tomorrow it should be a good deal wilder.
