I don't usually post things related to my health unless it's something outrageous and after getting my statement last month I figured I'd share this because there are a lot of individuals who still claim that there is nothing wrong with our current healthcare system. This is a statement for a monthly infusion I get (luckily it will soon be every other month and then every three months and so on) this isn't a statement for someone without insurance , this is a statement for someone with one of the best individual health coverages offered through Blue care network. I pay $170 a month and that's after the $150 a month incentive I get through the Healthcare marketplace ( I won't qualify for that next year FYI) so essentially If my employer didn't offer health coverage (which I'm enrolling in next year to avoid these costs) I'd be paying close to $300 a month in premium charges alone, not factoring copays for doctors visits or medications. That being all said I invite you guys to grasp the actual concept as to how much this statement actually is,please note that while I maybe ONLY liable for $900 of this, this is a $18,000 .....for a 30min IV infusion..... $65 dollars for a bag of Saline and $242 for two syringes and a few pads of gauze . So now the question remains, who is to blame here? The company that makes a $17k IV? The hospital that charges $65 for a bag of sterilized saltwater? Or the insurance company that's footing most of the bill? I'll leave those decisions up to you, but anyone who says there is nothing wrong with our healthcare system is a fucking moron. This is (I think) my first serious text post on this account and I feel like this is an important topic to discuss and it really irritates me so that’s why I’m making this. (Just a little disclaimer: I agree and support feminism 100%, it’s just some things happening with it and also with racism and discrimination against other things like the LGBT+ community are really starting to concern and annoy me.) Basically, I have a few gripes with feminism here on Tumblr. I’m sure it happens on other social platforms as well, but I mainly see it on Tumblr. My gripe with Tumblr feminism is that it is not truly feminism anymore. Yes, most of is still true feminism but a lot of feminists, who I do not believe are true feminists, are starting to give feminism a bad name. Feminism started out as a movement for women to be on the same level on men. I think it’s a great thing and that was a wonderful idea. However, some feminists are starting to take feminism the wrong way. They are categorizing men as stupid, disgusting, as pigs, and other demeaning things. While in some cases, certain men can act like those things, not all men are like that at all. Those feminists, at least from what I see on Tumblr, get the most attention because people turn posts that they make into huge “wars”. They start attacking that person for saying that and saying that they’re wrong and stuff like that. I agree with them on that, but since those posts are getting the most attention, more people are seeing those posts than posts that actually represent true feminism. I believe that since these are the posts that get the most attention, more people agree with those posts or believe that that is what true feminism is, when it’s not. This doesn't just apply to feminism though. This applies to other discrimination, such as racism. Some people are starting to turn white people into the “enemy” when we’re not. Of course, in some cases we are, but that is with everyone. In some cases, black people are, in some cases Latino people are, it doesn't matter what race you are, anybody can be the enemy. That is what worries me. I saw a post on Tumblr a couple months ago where a 14-year-old white cis girl was apologizing for being white and cis. That’s not how it should be. No one should apologize for being who they are. And I’m not saying that discrimination doesn't happen (it’s everywhere) I’m just saying that people are starting to attack everyone who seems to be on the side of the discriminator. (If a white person hit a Latino person, some people would attack the Caucasian race as a whole.) That is not how things were supposed to be and that’s not how things should be.
