first ever world cup win. finally earning it as world cup hosts, in front of the biggest ever football crowd in their country’s history, against fucking norway. norway who are starting a fucking ballon d’or winner, who are one of only 4 countries to ever win the world cup, and who are ranked 14 places higher than them. holy shit, the ferns

#i love football so fucking much #also i cannot do this middle of the night shift for a whole month? it’s 5am and there is simply no chance i am going to get sleep #wwc 2023 #nzlwnt #wwc23 #sorry i'm thinking about it more and i'm simply not going to shut up. because there's no pro league in nz (one pro team as of last year;#wellington in the aussie league) these players are scattered all over the world #which means they don't get to play together very often. and when they have team meetings; they have to do them in like 3 separate shifts #because they're across too many time zones to all meet at the same time. and they still were able to find enough cohesion not just to be a #host team and represent their country but to pull out a win against one of the giants of women's football. so fucking cool; i love this spo
