You ask Nanami Kento to help you and Higuruma Hiromi on a mission, after the events of In Flagrante Delicto (link here); you find yourself at the mercy of both men after they are struck by the aphrodisiac Curse.
An introduction to Greynami from my Post-Shibuya!AU Nanami; see Grey and Post-Shibuya AU!Nanami Headcanons
Warnings: 18+, another sex pollen fic because I'm utterly depraved and godless, threesome, I don't like to ruin surprises
(help me find the Higuruma artist in the banner, for crediting and thanks/permission!)

"Kento. We're friends...right?"
Nanami Kento's one good eye narrowed at you, you, sat so surreptitiously on the arm of the sofa in the coffee shop you had asked to meet him at. Kento briefly considered lowering his newspaper, but decided he'd wait to see what you wanted, first. No longer working for Jujutsu High after the Shibuya incident, he did, however, stay in contact with you, one of his favourite colleagues.
"Friends?" he teased, "I don't have friends." You pouted, slapping his arm lightly, and he  continued, "Alright...what is it you want?"
You scooted next to him on the sofa, emboldened by his invitation; "It's Hiromi," you said, already desperate, almost begging.
Already on first name terms, Kento thought, a light jealousy twisting in his gut, having thought he and you always had potential together. "Higuruma?" he pressed, scarred face neutral. You nodded.
"I released him to the wild," you stated, filling Kento in, "I don't think he was ready, but he was insistent, he's been out on his own for a while now...anyway, he seems to have been alright. Alone."
You did not tell Kento how Hiromi Higuruma had spent every night over the past week in your bed, spurred on initially by an aphrodisiac Curse he had failed to exorcise. You had not told anyone at Jujutsu High, in fact. How would you tell them that you and Hiromi were...what? Colleagues with benefits? On an uncertain path towards boyfriend and girlfriend? Pleasuring each other blind every day and night, lost in each others' minds and bodies? You almost blushed, aware your underwear was damp with the seed he had left inside you just that morning.
Kento raised one thin eyebrow at your pause, imploring you to continue. You took a deep breath.
"There's a mission tomorrow, and they want to send more than one First Grade, they think it's big, apparently. They chose Hiromi, and me. But I've worked with him, and he's...he's..." you trailed off, searching for the words. Kento helped.
"Difficult? Doesn't play well with others?" he offered lightly. You nodded, hands clasped in your lap.
"Can you come with us? Just as a buffer. We won't even need you I don't think, just..." you tailed off again, hoping Kento agreed.
That familiar jealousy burned in Kento's gut again. 'We'. 'Won't even need you'. Kento kicked himself mentally, wondering if he'd left it too late to ask you out to dinner, to make his move, wondering if Higuruma of all people had showed up and pipped him to the post. His jaw clenched as he put down his newspaper, giving you a gentle reassuring smile. Of course he agreed.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
"Why is he here?" Hiromi pressed you, rolling his gavel between his hands in irritation. Nanami Kento stood a few feet away from you and Hiromi, catching up with Ijichi while the veil was prepared around a derelict shopping centre, held together by ivy and abandoned "SALE!" banners.
"Just for back-up, Hiromi. Anyway, I haven't seen him in ages. You'll be friends in no time, I'm sure of it," you cooed.
Hiromi bristled. He had heard you speak fondly of this...this...sexy pirate, Nanami Kento, and in these early, brittle stages of your relationship together, Hiromi couldn't help but feel threatened by this imposing figure of a man. Allowing himself a moment of fragile masculinity, he shook it off, reminding himself that you weren't a competition.
But that if you were, you'd chosen Hiromi and he had won anyway.
Kento smiled fondly at Ijichi, gripping his hand in a friendly squeeze, before heading over to you and Hiromi, the veil descending below him in an oily drip down an invisible dome. Kento's face remained neutral as he approached, he and Hiromi reading each other, both shrewd, calculating. You swallowed at the palpable tension, before trying to bridge the gap with a reassuring smile to them both. Kento spoke first.
"The electricity's back on, so we're not operating in the dark. We should introduce ourselves. Nanami Kento," he said shortly, offering a brief bow, his gaze piercing into Hiromi even through an eye patch, it seemed.
"Higuruma Hiromi," he offered, "I've been told you're just here as..."
"...insurance," Kento finished coolly, "as you're rather...new to this." Hiromi felt another pang of irritation, smiling tightly at Kento.
Kento turned to you, giving you a smile so warm and sincere that it cracked through his icy demeanour. When you smiled back, Hiromi gritted his teeth, reminding himself again to behave. Eyes now on you, he threaded his fingers through yours, tapping your joined hands against his thigh in an act of affection and possession.
"Come on then, my love. We'll lead the way, shall we?" Hiromi pulled you ahead of Kento as a pair, and Kento glowered silently at your backs as he followed you into the building.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
"Have you read The Day of the Triffids?" you mused aloud to Hiromi and Kento, running your hand along the network of enormous vines, some as thick as your thigh, clinging along the inner walls of the building. A hazy mist had settled within the confines of the corridors, dewy and tropical in the summer humidity of central Tokyo. Exotic and otherworldly flora popped in bursts of colour from the ceiling and floor as the corridor curved away from you.
Hiromi and Kento both confirmed immediately, competitive, flashing each other furious glances. You were oblivious, examining the tendrils and flowers in glittery-eyed fascination. Hiromi and Kento stewed, both hovering close to you, irritated by the invasion of each others' space.
"We should go deeper into the building," Hiromi stated, confident, tapping his gavel against his adjacent palm, "the main Curse body is probably hiding centrally." Kento cleared his throat, imitating politeness as he disagreed.
"Many of these Curses linger on the edges, like spiders in webs. It would be more thorough to scout inwards from the edges, first."
"Well that sounds pretty inefficient seeing as we know--"
"--well we don't know, you're just assuming--"
"--based on experience, I think--"
"--oh yes, and what experience would that be?" Kento finished, curt, brittle. He turned to you, shoulders clenched in a taut line under the clipped corners of his suit. Hiromi spun to catch your eye, anger burning low at Kento's interference. Both beseeched you, seethingly, to agree with them.
You blushed under their stares, feeling their Cursed energy rising, competing, and gulped, feeling naked and exposed.
"I think," you started slowly, "that both options are as viable as the other," both Kento and Hiromi huffed air out of their noses, lips curled in annoyance, "and so you two should decide between you."
"Either way," you continued, the air thick with tension, "we have to go this way to get to the rest of the building anyway. It will give you two time to make a decision, and maybe learn to get along?" Both men bristled at your gentle chastisement, facing each other, chins out, teeth gritted.
You continued behind Hiromi and Kento along the corridor, watching with mute horror, as conversation escalated into debate, descended into argument, spiralled into insults--
"Well you're apparently so smart," spat Kento at Hiromi, "that I probably should let you decide, even if you find out the hard way, but you're not dragging her into danger too, so--"
"--sorry we can't all muscle our way through our problems, Nanami, she probably should stay with the brains of the group, so--"
"--she's coming with me!" Their voices rang through the corridor in tandem, and you shouted in warning, as they both tripped, distracted, their legs tangling in a flower-covered vine, like trip wire across the floor.
A puff of yellow pollen shot up from the flowers, clouding Kento and Hiromi in a clinging haze. They coughed, sneezing, staggering backwards out of the cloud. Kento cleared his eye with a swift wipe, looking down at himself, surveying the damage.
But, Hiromi spun to face you, barely disguised panic in his eyes; "Shit. Shit. Not again--"
Your jaw dropped, appalled; "Again? Hiromi? Was this-- is this--"
Hiromi groaned, and leaned heavily, shivering against the wall as the pollen seeped through his pores, the yellow fading as it sunk into Hiromi's bloodstream. Kento's back was to you, but dread crept into your belly, low and hot, as you saw his shoulders roll and shudder, his scarred hand clasped over his mouth as his chin dipped towards the floor.
As both Hiromi and Kento turned slowly to look at you, hunger glowing in their eyes, you began to take tentative steps backwards, your speed gradually increasing as you spun, quickly building into a full sprint back down the corridor.
Kento was burning from the inside out; every nerve was on fire with desperate arousal, his cock rapidly hardening in the confines of his slim suit trousers, and he knew in furious desperation that if he didn't pin you down and ram every inch of himself into you, that he would surely perish in these sordid flames, and--
As Kento's legs bent with intent to hunt you down the corridor, he felt slim fingers grip around the front of his throat, Hiromi stepping into his vision, clearly suffering just as he was, but determined and steely, hooded eyes smouldering with threat.
"Not my girl, Nanami," Hiromi spat, squeezing the sides of Kento's thick throat with surprising force. Kento chuckled, full of dark mirth as he gripped Hiromi by the wrist, twisting it away from him; Hiromi held fast, hand shaking with exertion.
"You were the back-up, Higuruma," Kento rumbled, smirking, judgement clouded by wild, throbbing need, "so back off. Daddy's home now." Kento swept Hiromi's legs from under him, elbowing him to the ground, before leaping over his scrabbling form and stalking down the corridor, with surprising grace for such a big man.
Hiromi was on Kento in seconds, spinning him into a resounding thud against the wall, and Kento roared in frustration, as the two continued to scrap along the corridor, concrete cracking under their feet and shoulders as they bodied each other into the walls, trying to gain the upper hand.
You had reached the end of the corridor, the stairs blocked with a bawdry tangle of prickles and vines. You scanned the corridor, spotting a lift to the right, and you ripped fine vines away from its entrance, pressing the lift's button in a frantic panic, hearing the roars and crashes of Kento and Hiromi moving down the corridor towards you.
You had a moment of dread, fearful that the lift was now inoperable, before a tinny little ping announced the lift's arrival. Clambering over vines and into the lift, you saw a puff and crumble of rubble down the corridor as Kento was thrown into a wall, the ceiling partly collapsing above him.
You pressed the button again, again, again, your heart thick in your throat. You saw Hiromi round the corridor, zigzagging across jigsaws of vines, eyes intently on you.
As the doors grinded closed, Kento and Hiromi descended upon them, still scrapping, bloody, fighting with mindless desperation and rage. The lift stayed still, halted by your own paralysis as you caught their eyes through the glass, both begging you to let them in.
You swallowed, your belly hot with anticipation, wanting to help but utterly incapable of accepting the only means by which you could help. You mouthed wordlessly at Hiromi and Kento. You pressed a shaking finger to the lift's 'down' button, and Hiromi swiftly countered by pressing the button outside the lift doors. The lift pinged, juddered, stopped, started, indecisive, torn.
You were at a stalemate. You ran your hands through your hair.
"I can't...I can't help both of you," you cried, turning to look at Nanami, eyes brimming with apology as he rested his forehead against his fist, breathing out in a shaking moan.
"Kento, I...Hiromi and I, we..." Kento thumped his fist against the outside of the lift, the lift trembling at his strength.
"You choose him?" Kento spat, feeling precum leak down his thigh in a constant damp stream. He coughed, arousal burning through his throat, and reached down to squeeze his cock, desperate for relief, moaning softly as he bit into his fist.
"You'll-- you'll help me, though?" Hiromi urged, hopeful and throbbing, palms and forehead pressed flat to the glass of the lift, eyelids heavy and breaths hot and urgent. You swallowed, considering your promise to always help Hiromi, and nodded slowly, swallowing, memories of how desperately he took you the first time sweeping through you, your clit aching and pussy clenching around nothing.
"Open the door. Please, please, open the door," Hiromi whispered in prayer. Kento accepted, sickly, that you had made your decision, still certain he may die without relief. The pollen pulsed through him, toxic and ruinous, and he felt his vision fade into animalistic shades of black, white and red.
"I can-- I-- just let me watch," Kento forced out, begging through clenched teeth. You hesitated, eyes flicking towards Hiromi in question. Hiromi scowled, lips curled in distaste.
"Watch, don't watch-- I don't give a fuck. But I'll have your head if you lay a finger on her."
Kento snarled, lips pulled taut against his teeth-- but nodded his agreement. Your hand lowered, hesitantly retracting from the button as Hiromi calmly pushed the 'open' button from the outside, eyes burning into you with unholy intent.
As the door opened, Hiromi stepped to you, trembling with restraint, fists clenching and unclenching as he urged you backwards, caging you in against the wall with outstretched arms. Not breaking eye contact, he reached down to grab one of your hands, pressing it hard against his straining erection with a low groan, eyes closed against the enormity of the tiny relief and the promise of more to come.
Keeping your hand pressed against him, rutting into your open palm, Hiromi dipped his mouth to your neck, taking your skin between his lips in a deep, bruising lovebite.
"You know how this works," he intoned, low and slow, licking your neck as he rubbed your hand on the outline of his rigid cock, "and I know you can take it." You hesitated as Kento moved slowly into the lift space, the doors closing behind him. His eye shot daggers through you, the burned side of his face twisted in agony, until his gaze flicked downwards, staring hungrily at where Hiromi rutted his cock into your open hand. Kento's tongue darted out to lick his lips, his hand sinking slowly to undo his own belt.
As Hiromi continued to devour your neck, moaning with abandon as he pressed closer to you, humping his weeping clothed cock against your body, you felt your own inhibition fade curiously away. Your trepidation was slowly being overtaken, being seeded and overgrown by a burning hunger. You took a gasping breath, high off your own desire, head swimming--
"Hiromi-- the pollen, it's-- it's on your clothes," you urged, your brain clouding, thrumming, succumbing as yellow mist soaked into your skin.
Kento watched with erotic fascination as you became pliable, supple as water under Hiromi's mouth, your eyes half-closed with aching arousal, a desperate keening noise rising from your throat.
"Oh god yes," groaned Kento, voice gravelly with lust as he released his throbbing erection, pumping his thick cock in his fist, biting the backs of his knuckles on his free hand, "keep going, don't stop-- don't--"
Hiromi drank up Kento's begging, seethingly determined to prove his ownership of you, and grasped your top between his hands, ripping it open like paper, snapping the front of your bra so the cups hung loosely over your pebbled nipples. Hiromi heard Kento release a shuddering whine behind him as he latched his tongue and lips over your nipple, still rutting into your hand, which was joined by the other now as you worked frantically at Hiromi's trousers to release him.
Kento and Hiromi both gasped as Hiromi's cock sprang upwards, and was instantly grasped between your fingers, your first squeeze releasing a thick dribble of precum down Hiromi's length as he shuddered, moaning into your breasts, pressing his fist into the wall as you began to masturbate him. You ached to your very core, reeling with need.
"Please fuck me," you begged Hiromi, voice whispering and pleading in his ear, "cum inside me, as much as you want, I need it, I--"  Hiromi didn't need to be told twice and lifted your legs to straddle his hips, holding you up against the wall as he flipped your skirt up, ripped your tights and sticky wet underwear at the groin, and allowed you to line up his cock between your puffy, glistening folds.
Kento's hand worked harder and harder on his own cock now, stopping to circle his thumb around the sensitive head, spreading his precum, fighting the urge to throw Hiromi aside and thrust into you himself. Biting his lip hard enough to draw blood, he instead focused on where Hiromi's cock lined up with you.
"What the hell are you waiting for?" Kento growled as Hiromi paused, panting into your neck, "get inside her or I will."
With one aggressive thrust, Hiromi's cock rammed into you to the hilt, slamming you back against the wall as you cried out, clawing at him desperately. Your hands clenched the front of his shirt, gripping and ripping, buttons scattering over the floor with faint skitters, so desperate were you to feel Hiromi's skin on yours.
Hiromi fucked you ruthlessly, eyes fixed on where his cock crashed into you, hips snapping back and forth with barely controlled fury. Spurred on by your mewls and whimpers, Hiromi panted, chasing his relief, agonised cries breaking from his mouth with every other thrust.
Kento's eye had drooped closed behind Hiromi, stroking himself now to the sounds of you and Hiromi alone, feeling with agonising certainty that cumming in his own hand would do little to relieve his deadly need, but needing to chase his orgasm regardless. He felt his pleasure building rapidly as he heard you cum, falling apart with trembling cries around Hiromi's cock.
Hiromi didn't last long, his first orgasm hitting him with a wave of relief so violent, his knees almost buckled, relying on you for a moment to hold yourself up against him. Hiromi felt blinded as rope after rope of his seed spurted into you, coating your cervix, soothing your aching belly with warmth. Kento came with a shuddering gasp, streams of thick cum splattering onto the floor and coating his hand, face contorted in pain when he felt little to no relief despite his orgasm plundering through his every muscle.
You and Hiromi clung onto each other, still joined, and Hiromi's cock felt no softer at all, still rigid and held with urgency against your cervix, sucked in by your velvety walls.
"I'm-- I'm sorry I-- I can't stand--" Hiromi stuttered, dropping to his knees with your legs still wrapped around him, still pressed core to core as you wrapped your arms around his neck, straddling him, riding him as he whimpered into your mouth. Lost in your own pleasure, your eyes had drifted shut as you rode Hiromi, slippery with cum, keeping his cock jealously inside you, unwilling to let him pull out by more than an inch.
You felt a strong hand wind into your hair, tipping your head backwards and sideways, and as you gasped, you felt a droplet of salty cum drip onto your tongue. Kento's other hand, sticky with his own seed, ghosted around your lips as he stared down at you, scarred face impassive, but his eye urgently begging, and he dipped a cum-covered thumb into your mouth, stroking across your tongue.
Hiromi flung a hand out sideways, clawing with fury at Kento's thick, corded thigh; "Nanami," he hissed in warning. Kento ignored him, still staring at you, pleading, impeaching--
You nodded slowly, opening your mouth, holding out your tongue. Kento groaned his appreciation, and leant down to dip his tongue against yours as you gripped his thick cock in your hand. Hiromi scowled, thrusting you harder onto him in possessive punishment, satisfied to hear you squeak against Kento's tongue. As Kento pulled away from you and your mouth started to close, he gripped your jaw, stopping you.
"Open," he barked and you acquiesced, jolting and groaning as you felt him spit into your mouth, mixing with the drips of cum his fingers left behind. Humming lowly in satisfaction, Kento stood tall, manoeuvring your head and thrusting his full length down your throat with little warning.
Despite himself, Hiromi was hypnotised as Kento gripped you by the hair, ramming into you; Hiromi kept pace with Kento, matching his timing by slamming your hips down onto his. His eyes fixed on your mouth as you coughed and spluttered, cheeks covered with cum and saliva as you choked down wet gags, Kento barking orders at you as he slammed his cock repeatedly over your tongue and into your throat.
"Harder, Nanami," Hiromi ordered, blinded by lust as he felt your cunt clench around him, fluttering weakly as Hiromi slipped his hand between your legs, finding your clit with practiced ease, rubbing rapid circles, lubricated by the slick of your cum.
You were overwhelmed, floppy and malleable as you embraced being used by Kento and Hiromi, covered in fluids, sticky and sweating, and you shivered weakly as Hiromi dragged you to another orgasm. You felt Hiromi ram you onto him once, twice and three more times until he came with a frantic shout, legs cramping underneath him as he felt his seed shoot through him like electricity, dripping out of you and soaking the patch of trimmed black hair at the base of his cock. Hiromi whined, his balls clenching painfully, watching as Kento finished in your mouth.
Kento pulled you to him, his knuckles deep in your hair as your nose hit his neat honey-coloured pubes, gulping as streams of his hot cum trickled down your throat, Kento growling his relief-- "good girl-- good girl-- swallow now"-- as you drank him down.
Kento let go of your hair and you pulled back, gasping and coughing, his cock still rigid, sat wetly on your cheek as Kento rolled his shoulders and cracked his neck from side to side, still tense. Hiromi was wrecked, burning with need, but crippled and paralysed with a bone-deep exhaustion as he straightened his legs under you, his cock still rigid and throbbing inside you as he came down from his orgasm.
"Not-- not enough--" Kento rumbled, still desperate, devastated by the lack of relief.
"Enough, Nanami," Hiromi gasped, "She needs a--"
"'She' can handle it," you interrupted, nose to nose with Hiromi as he looked into you, glassy-eyed and worried. He nodded slowly. Kento rumbled his approval, pressing you forwards by the back of the neck until Hiromi was laid on his back on the floor, cock still inside you, and you laid down belly first on him.
Without hesitating, Kento mounted you from behind, his mouth ghosting against your ear as he bit it, relishing your squeaks as you pressed your cheek into Hiromi's chest. Lining up his cock with where Hiromi was already seated deep inside you, Kento pressed his cock into you.
You saw stars as your pussy was stretched more than it ever had been, clawing wildly at Hiromi's chest as Kento bottomed-out; Hiromi shivered with delight at the impossible tightness and slickness of you, his groans cracking as Kento's cock slid against his with every thrust. Higuruma lay unmoving at first, colours popping in his eyes, before digging his fingers into the plushness of your hips, and thrusting into you in tandem with Kento.
You were ruined, completely prone on Hiromi as you felt Hiromi and Kento's lengths bully in and out of you, your thighs shaking with urgency as your clit was shunted against Hiromi's pubic bone every time Kento rammed into you. Hearing Kento's groans, broken and velvety behind you, had you tipping over the edge, your arousal spurting out around Kento and Hiromi, your cries and whimpers echoing weakly around the little chamber.
Kento felt fire burst through his hips, back and belly as he came for a final time, barely able to keep himself from collapsing on top of you as he felt himself weaken, Hiromi's cock twitching against his as Hiromi shuddered, sandy gasps leaving his throat as his seed mixed with Kento's inside you.
Hiromi reached around you, rolling you all sideways so Kento could collapse onto the floor. You lay together, stunned, sticky and panting. The air was thick with the smell of sweat and desire. Kento chuckled, low and shaking, as you nuzzled into Hiromi, planting tender kisses on his jaw.
"Alright," he rumbled, reluctant, "so she's your girl. But I still owe her dinner."

OKAY SO what with the TWO new Hermits implied by the updated banner I will say that, though the Skizz truthers have me convinced, I now have room to do my own crazy red string monologue and throw my hat in for my choice
Tumblr media
1) Mythical J. Sausage (the J is silent) is a multitalented S-tier builder that absolutely deserves to be shoulder to shoulder with the Hermits. The man does buildings, interiors, terraforming, custom trees, and he does them SO WELL.
2) The production values!!! Beautiful replay mod sequences with shifting camera perspectives, shaders, music that sets the tone for each segment that's different from series to series. He already has more than a million followers on YouTube and for good reason!!
3) He has been SO consistent lately. He started a hardcore world about three months ago (about the time you might expect the Hermits to finalize their s10 choices maybe...???) and already has 15 episodes and hasn't gotten involved in any other big content. (He did just start playing a little of the BCG server but from what I understand that's super casual /copium copium copium).
4) That hardcore world is conveniently about to reach a good "pause" point. He started his world on a cherry blossom biome island that he's filled with a medieval village and starter farms, he's said it's almost full and what's left is the castle. I'm guessing the new season will start the first week of February, so if Sausage puts out a video this week building out that Castle and finishing that island it will be MIGHTY CONVENIENT TIMING.
5) This man can GRIND. His Hardcore world hasn't even been going half a year and he's built... So much??? Magnificent! And when he was on the Hermitcraft server he did the Razorcrest for scar AND the player head baby yoda/stormtrooper merch AND the noteblock themesong AND still built in the xmas village and other "diamond of peace" and so many other shenanigans. Did the man even sleep? He can grind with the best of them.
6) He can do redstone, too! Maybe not unique designs, I honestly don't know, but he builds farms for build materials no problem.
7) The DRAMA this man loves his improv and his backstory and trauma lore! For every series he does! Can you imagine if he gets to interact with Ren for an extended period of time, what that would do to them, to us?? Give Martyn a run for his money!!
8) Which brings me to my next point, which is that Sausage is already One of The Gang, because he's been in series with so many of the Hermits already! Empires and the crossover, obviously, but also Pirates with Cleo and Origins with Scar, and he's even done MCC! Joel is the only other player with the same depth of different series but there are other people truthing him already.
9) The EPIC BROMANCE with Pearl. My god the devotion of this man to his sunflower goddess bestie. I would try to do ot justice but y'all have seen floweroflaurelins work, you already know.
10) He's already a PG streamer but with HILARIOUSLY PG-13 tendencies. Imagine him and Cleo cracking each other up at an HHH stream, *grips your shoulders* IMAGINE IT.
11) Sausage comes with his own mascot in the form of interdimensional dog extraordinaire Bubbles, but he's also just an animal lover on general. Mans drinks his "I love Jellie" juice and had her in his world even before the sad news of her loss.
12) Diversity win! No one should be hired just for their gender, race, sexuality etc etc unless it's truly necessary to the job, but we were all happy when more women got added to the server in s8 and I know a lot of people would be happy to see some ethnic diversity added, too.
... That bulletin board had a lot more pins in it than I thought it did but anyway MYTHICALSAUSAGE TRUTHERS/ALL OTHER TRUTHERS RISE UP SPEAK YOUR TRUTH! we'll only get to wildly speculate for a few weeks so we might as well make it everyone else's problem ENJOY IT TO THE FULLEST!!

The thing about being a pirate is that you can’t get too attached to anything you own.
Ships go down. Ships get stolen or looted. You change crews.
Maybe pre-pirating your whole island was razed to the ground and you escaped with only the clothes on your back and your odd hat.
It’s just a known fact; don’t get too attached to anything.
THAT’S why Law keeps his Sora collection a SECRET.
He knows it’s not wise to keep on board the Tang. He knows he’s just ASKING for a leak. He keeps the comics in waterproof containers as if that will help if they sink.
Honestly rule number one of being a pirate is “don’t eat a devil fruit you dumbass you need to swim” but he’d already broken that rule so he might as well break rule number two; “don’t get attached to anything you own.”
He got very attached.
When the Tang explodes, everyone makes it out. Which makes sense, because everyone (except for Law) are North Blue survivors, MADE for those icy ocean temps. It’s great, he’s eternally grateful he can trust his crew.
He’s just a little devastated that his collection is gone.
In the mean time, while debating how to get ahold of a second ship (would Wolf be willing to come out of retirement…?), they’re stuck on the Going Luffy again. Fucking creepy ass ship. But at least Law spends enough time getting pissed at Barto that he barely misses his things.
(That’s a lie; he used to reread one comic a night. He misses them a lot).
Two weeks into their stay, though, they finally catch up to the Sunny (which of the Straw Hats was dumb enough to give Barto their vivre card?) and as soon as they’re close enough, Law realises that he made a mistake, lounging on the deck to nap.
Because, like some sort of beacon, Luffy spots him instantly as he slingshots from one ship to the other.
“TraaaaaaaffFFFFFYYYYYY”
Law makes a quick room and switches himself with Bepo, who screams as Luffy crashes into him.
“Bear!!” Luffy yells. “You’re not Traffy!”
“No! Sorry!”
Luffy gets up and brushes himself off. “Oh, Traffy! When did you get over there?”
“When you decided to try to kill me with that landing,” Law says, cracking his neck.
Luffy laughs at him.
LUFFY is made of rubber. Law is not made of rubber and he does not think Luffy ever remembers that.
“I’m so glad you guys are here!” Luffy says, ignoring the insinuation that he would commit murder. “It’s been so BORING lately! And Nami says you guys don’t have a ship right now!”
Ah yes, Nami does read the paper religiously.
“We’re working on it,” Law says, ignoring Bepo’s sad expression.
“Well until then, you should join us!” Luffy says. “Since we’re in an alliance and all!”
“We are NOT,” Law snaps, “still in an alliance! That’s finished!”
Luffy laughs. “Okay,” he says.
Law doesn’t think that okay is real.
“But anyway, Sanji says you should all come over for dinner! He’s making meat!”
Barto, who has only just appeared (probably doing his hair), perks up. “Me too, Luffy Senpai??”
“Uh,” says Luffy. “Yeah, sure!”
Barto has stars in his eyes.
Law sighs. Barto is too much to handle on the best of days.
“Fine Straw Hat,” he says. “We’ll be there.”
They eat on the deck of the Sunny, because there’s not enough room in the galley. It’s a clear, starry night.
The Sunny’s headed to Elbaf.
Law sits at the edge and watches his crew make up to Usopp and Franky. Bunch of nerds, the lot of them.
He watches Luffy, too, as he eats a mammoth portion and then immediately lays down for a nap.
Law’s spent a lot of time watching Luffy.
He doesn’t get it, how one person can have such magnetism. Luffy could have the whole world bowing at his feet if he wanted. Law knows this because he could easily count himself among them.
He doesn’t understand why Luffy continues to seek HIM out.
He’s a hell of a lot grumpier than Luffy’s acquired crew. He’s also clearly been born with bad luck; it follows him like a plague. He’s not fun to be around.
But for some reason Luffy keeps finding him and looking happy when he does.
It’s weird.
Tonight, after half the crews have retired and Luffy’s woken up from his food coma, he does the same thing. He zeroes in on Law and sidles up to him.
“Hey!” He says, sandals slapping the deck. “You’re being all weird and lonely!”
“Shut up, Straw Hat. You’re just too friendly.”
Luffy puts his hands in his hips as he laughs. “You’re friendly,” he says. “You’re just not happy about it.”
That’s incredibly wrong. Law scowls.
“Now come on.” Luffy reaches down and pulls Law to his feet. “Sanji’s doing dishes.”
“So…?”
Luffy puts a finger to his lips.
Then he makes an INCREDIBLE amount of noise as he runs across the deck with Law in tow (and protesting about it) down to the men’s bunk room.
Chopper and Jinbei are already asleep but the light is on, and Zoro’s sitting in his bunk polishing his swords. He looks at them when they enter and snorts. “Stealing from your own crew, now, Luffy?”
Luffy laughs and Law starts to protest— or question?— but he’s pulled over to the lockers and Luffy starts rummaging through one that’s full of suits and smells sickeningly of cigarette smoke.
From the bottom he pulls out a box of—
“Is that— Sora?” Law breathes. This is the GRAND LINE. How did someone get SORA COMICS?
“Yep!” Luffy opens the box and starts getting his sticky fingers ALL OVER THEM. “The bear said you love this stuff! And that you lost yours!”
“I—“ how did Bepo…?
Of course Bepo knew. Damn him. Snooping bear.
“Sanji hates these things. I dunno why he insists on keeping them.”
Luffy gives up thumbing through them and instead sticks his GREASY HANDS IN and just pulls out 90% of the stack at random.
“Here you go!”
Law gapes at him.
“Straw Hat, you can’t just—“
Luffy grins. “Sanji won’t to notice!”
There’s two comics left in the box. Sanji will definitely notice.
Still, Law could never turn down this opportunity. He takes the stack with REVERENCE, realising these are the OLD ones, the ones with the much darker plot lines and terrible airbrush coloring.
Holy shit. They’re first editions.
He may have started crying right there, if not for the fact that he’s suddenly pulled out of his thoughts by incredibly loud, incredibly fake snoring.
He looks over. Zoro’s still holding his sword oil as he “sleeps”.
If he were a better man, Law would talk to Sanji about this.
But he’s not a better man. He’s a pirate.
Law makes a room big enough to reach the Going Luffy and reaches out with his free hand, grabbing Luffy.
He switches them with a Luffy statue from his own “guest” room.
Luffy laughs as Law lets go. “That’s so cool, we should prank people,” he says.
“Later,” Law says. He sits down on the floor in front of his hammock and starts carefully shuffling through the Sora.
Honestly he’s so caught up in finding out what volumes are there that he almost forgets he brought Luffy with him until the captain reaches out from next to him and points at one of the covers.
“Hey that looks like Sanji’s brother!”
Law rolls his eyes and starts talking about how it couldn’t possibly be whoever Sanji’s brother is because Sora came out when HE was a kid and Sanji’s too young for that, and anyway Straw Hat don’t you know anything about the LORE?
He talks about the lore.
He talks for a LONG time about the lore.
And the worst part of all is that Luffy pays attention for all of it, nodding like he’s listening.
(He can’t possibly be)
(But that’s okay)
When Law is done going through each comic and explaining the plots in detail, he realises just how much he’s forced down Luffy’s throat.
He starts to apologise but then he looks up at Luffy and sees him grinning.
“We should’ve taken all of them,” Luffy says. “You clearly care about them a lot.”
Law… blushes. Gets bright fucking red. “It’s a hobby,” he says. “It’s not important.”
“But you like it,” Luffy says.
“And that makes it important.”
Law stares at him.
He has the unnerving urge to kiss him.
“Straw Hat…”
Luffy leans forward, eyes wide.
Shockingly, he does what Law would never follow through on.
He kisses him.
HE KEEPS HIS EYES OPEN, THOUGH. LAW DOESN'T LIKE THAT.
Law reels back after the initial kiss. “LU-YA CLOSE YOUR EYES WHEN YOU KISS SOMEONE.”
Luffy pouts. “No! I wanna see you!”
Law scoffs. His face is SO hot. “Shut up.”
He covers Luffy’s eyes and kisses him back.
Luffy’s a terrible kisser.
Law likes that.
He likes that there’s something he’s bad at. Because everything else about Luffy is so incredible.
Luffy goes to deepen the kiss but when he surges forward he knocks one of the comics with his foot and Law immediately stops the kiss to clean up everything.
When breakfast happens in the morning, Sanji complains briefly about someone breaking into his locker and messing sigh his stuff, but Zoro makes a remark that Sanji’s just upset because he hides sex toys in his locker and got found out.
They start fighting.
Luffy sits next to Law and eats all his pancakes, while Law picks at the accompanying fruit and eggs.
Then, under the table, Luffy grabs his hand.
Luffy’s hand is SO sticky.
Like, did he stick his hand IN the maple syrup?
Law lets it happen, though.
It’s good. It’s nice.
He fell asleep in the hammock last night with Luffy. Reading Sora.
Pirates can’t afford to get attached to things. Things get lost and looted and stolen.
But just this once. Just this once Law will try again.

i cannot believe it's taken me this long to do a destiny AU but wow better late than never
playing very fast and loose with both canons here - pirate crews = renegade clans, marines/world gov't = vanguard (sorry actual vanguard whomst i love). the one piece is the traveler??? who knows. anyways:
luffy, human lightbearer
subclass: yippee!
loadout: wahoo!
ghost: mugi, one-of-a-kind shell given to him by shanks as a kinderguardian. the shell seems to change when he supers. What's Up With That!
all prismatic all the time, basically a dark age guardian. zero boundaries between class and subclass. just does whatever is fun. doesn't care until he Does and then you're fucked.
regularly wears (steals) class items from clanmates, it was a little alarming at first but they all feel whatever about it now
should not be trusted with raid mechanics.
Tumblr media
zoro, awoken titan
subclass: strand
primary: breakneck (OG roll)
secondary: ergo sum (void/caster/wolfpack)
heavy: falling guillotine (OG godroll, WWB/relentless)
exotic: stoicism (inmost/star-eater or inmost/synthos)
ghost: wado, received from kuina after her death (don't think about this too hard. jaren ward/shin malphur situation. whatever). wado's shell was cloven by mihawk in a duel.
wears sanji's old bond looped into his mark, will not answer questions about this
specced hard into banner for a fuckoff insane melee loop, rotates melee buffs with luffy and sanji
mostly DPS/add clear, uses that ergo roll so that sanji/luffy/franky (haz prop) can get wolfpack, if the boss can't be meleed then Why Is He Even Here
flat-out banned from participating in the mechanics of several raid encounters on account of going to the wrong fucking place (vault, gatekeeper, sol inherent, totems, etc.), if he gets torn between dimensions or anything but first in queenswalk then everyone just has to desperately pray for the best.
ran vanguard bounties regularly until he eventually refused to cooperate with the then-head of the cosmodrome's operations; luffy found him with kuina's ghost bound and freed them both. The Rest Is History.
distributary-born but doesn't know (or care), kept being greeted weirdly by people in the dreaming city (which i guess is where we have wano's events......... kaido is literally a dragon, so)
VJ-G-66-03 sanji, human (?) warlock
subclass: prismatic, solar super
primary: fatebringer (OG fatebringer roll™)
secondary: tarrabah
heavy: apex predator (recon/B&S)
exotic: solipsism (assassin/synthos)
ghost: mignon, received from zeff after voluntarily giving up his light for sanji
wears zoro's old mark tied below his bond, will not answer questions about this
specced into Burn Motherfucker Burn, solar buddy + snaps, frontline add clear alongside luffy and zoro, also part of the "if the boss can't be meleed/snapped then why am i even here" gang
CAN be trusted with raid mechanics but is often better utilized keeping adds off the other half of the fireteam
sanji's body is riddled with vintech implants that don't seem to do anything. they're most definitely new, and sanji wasn't rezzed that long ago, but vintech was lost in the collapse along with everything else and the only thing that really survived is a bunch of muddled records found at old vega collective sites.
sanji was the vintech patriarch's one failed experiment; his consciousness refused transfer to an exo body and after many attempts, he was discarded but managed to survive through the kindness of dark-age guardians until he was taken in by zeff.
he has three vertical black facial markings; each experiment has a number of markings corresponding to their order (and color) in the sequence.
Tumblr media
and other straw hats! i have a little less about them, but:
nami, human hunter
subclass: arcstaff (Throw Stick/well of bad/i don't remember its actual name)
primary: patron of lost causes
secondary: riskrunner
heavy: stormchaser
exotic: liar's handshake
ghost: zeus, stolen from big mom (tangerine shell)
(was tempted to do stormcaller unlimited power but arcstaff is... you know)
usopp, human hunter
subclass: solar, precision goldie
primary: succession
secondary: trinity ghoul
heavy: scintillation
exotic: nighthawk
ghost: merry (sheepshead shell)
can and should be trusted with raid mechanics along w/ nami
and the rest of the crew i'm not 100% set on buuuuut:
chopper: exo warlock (well of radiance)
robin: awoken warlock (strand? void?)
franky: exo titan (thundercrash)
brook: exo hunter (stasis)
jinbei: awoken titan (stasis? arc?)
misc others:
law: awoken prismatic hunter, blinky knife
reiju-0: exo void hunter, tether + smoke bomb, le monarque
ichiji-1: exo solar hunter, blade barrage
niji-2: exo arc titan, striker, ACD/0
yonji-4: exo strand titan
and textless, glow-less versions if you got this far!

“Thanks for takin’ pity on our captain.”
“None of that, Lucky Roux,” Shanks scolded, grabbing the bowl of food the man had set down on that dingy table by the fire.
Sunset was on its way, and your stomachs had dragged you reluctantly out of his bed, only to be greeted at the camp by the loudest, and rowdiest cheers you’d ever heard.
Shanks had gotten them to tone it down a bit, kissing your burning cheeks as you sat at his table, but it seemed that Lucky Roux had started it up again.
“He’s right,” Benn agreed, raising his mug to you. “I don’t think we would have survived another night of that.”
“Isn’t Y/N just beautiful? Isn’t she–,” another pirate called in a sing-song voice as he mimicked his captain, and your mouth fell open as the whole crew joined in. Shanks started blustering, trying to rein it in, but it was too late.
“Did you hear how funny she is?”
“And she's soo fiery, did you see her?”
“I was drunk! I was out of my wits,” Shanks yelled over the din while you sat back and laughed.
“I will personally murder each and every one of you!”
He gave up, taking a long drink from his mug while you studied his profile. When he finally looked at you, you couldn’t fight the evil grin on your face.
“Fiery, huh?”
“Alcohol does a lot of things to the mind, and–”
“Are you blushing, captain?”
Your red haired pirate didn’t allow you to lean close to find out before he pulled you to him, kissing you hard. You felt his low hum of approval at the tiny noises you made for him, but it was all drowned out by another round of applause.
“I'm gonna need more booze for this,” he grumbled, waving his now empty mug in the air until a pirate came to fill it.
“Fiery,” you asked again, whispering in his ear before chuckling as he choked on his drink.
“Yeah, well,” he wiped his chin, turning to smirk at you, “I’m pretty sure you like me too, damsel.”
He looked way too pleased with himself as you bit your lip, digging into your food to keep from squirming.
You thought he might steal you away back to his quarters as soon as your bowls were cleared. Instead, he pulled you onto his lap as you spent time with his crew. So many smiling faces, so many stories, so many songs. It seemed like the whole crew took turns joining your table, and tapping their mugs against yours as they introduced themselves.
Now that you didn’t think they were going to attack you in your sleep, you’d decided to drink whatever it was they put in your mug.
But after toasting with so many pirates in a row, you were starting to feel it.
“Mm, Shanks…”
"Mhm," he purred back at you as you nuzzled against his ear.
“I think I’m drunk.”
“Well,” he started, leaving a warm kiss on your forehead, “what does my drunken damsel nee–”
He leaned forward with a wicked chuckle that told you he’d be getting back at you for what you’d just done. You had grinded your ass into his lap, and he was already growing hard again. That sensation had your head lolling back until he sat you up straight on his knee, his arm around your shoulders.
“So you’re demanding and greedy, huh?”
There was no point in arguing as his eyes poured over you, hungrily taking in your ragged breathing, your bitten lip, and the needy look in your eyes.
You watched as he wet his lips, his eyes growing darker even as the light of the fire shined within them.
Nodding as he mouthed the question ‘ready for bed,’ you held onto him, only a bit wobbly as you made your way through the crowd. The shouts of the crew were hardly noticeable with his hand in yours, his thumb smoothing over your skin.
The moon was even closer to being full tonight, and its light dancing on the ocean made you pause after you stepped on deck.
“I haven’t stopped to look for awhile,” you confessed as he brushed your hair out of your face.
“Look at what?”
A surprised laugh bubbled from you as you gestured to the moonlit waves.
“Anything!”
A wave of energy and pleasure rolled over you, and you threw your head back to let out a joyful yell.
“It’s beautiful,” you screamed at the moon. “And look at the waves, they’re so…”
Your joy in this moment felt so freeing, but it broke your heart to realize just how stifled you’d been. To not remember the last time you relaxed, the last time you looked at something just because it felt good.
Shanks caught your hand as the heat of tears rose in your throat. His hair seemed to glow under the silver light, and you didn’t think you’d ever met someone as beautiful as him.
“You’re beautiful too, Y/N,” he rasped, pressing your knuckles to his lips.
“Don’t you mean, ‘fiery,” you laughed in his face, stomach starting to hurt as giggles took over.
He sucked his teeth, narrowing his eyes at you as he dropped your hand.
“You won’t be so fiery after this.”
Shanks twisted his fist into the back of the shirt you’d borrowed, and dragged you, kicking and screaming, to the edge of the ship. Toward those beautiful waves.
Happy, drunken fingers tore at the buttons of the loose shirt until you pulled yourself free, cackling as you held your hands to your bare breasts, and ran inside.
“Y/N,” Shanks shouted, as the pirate on night duty started rolling with laughter.
You had never had this much fun in your life.
Those wood paneled halls all looked the same, so instead of looking for his quarters, you just kept running.
The chase didn’t last long before he shoved you against a wall, his knee spreading your legs as your chest heaved. He dropped the shirt to the ground to push your hand aside, massaging your exposed breast as he kissed you.
It was more than kissing. Drinking, eating, taking.
His thumb brushed over your nipple, already hardened from your flight through the ship. He timed the sensation with his knee pressing against your clothed cunt, and you felt his smile on your own lips as you cried out.
“You’re lucky you’re not a member of my crew, Y/N,” he rasped in your ear, low and dangerous. “This kind of spectacle would have earned you quite the punishment.”
His heat left you as he grabbed the shirt off the ground, holding it up silently until you pulled it on. There was something about him now that you hadn’t felt before. It wasn’t frightening.
But it was powerful. Commanding.
It had you melting under those dark eyes.
“Are you ready for bed, sweetheart?”
All you could do was nod, letting him guide you by the hand until he had you spread on those red sheets again.
Until he had you screaming his name, begging him to fill you up, to leave you dripping.
Still not enough.
He’d kissed his way across your body, pulling you close as his breath went deep and slow with sleep. Once again, this pirate reminded you of the sea, his touch both gentle and chaotic, his voice both soothing and seductive.
Last night you had such conflicting thoughts about him. Tonight his arm was curled around you, his spicy scent more intoxicating than whatever they’d poured in your mug. Tonight your thoughts all matched up.
He’s wonderful.
I’ll never get enough of his smile, his voice, his touch.
I’ve never felt happier than I have with him today.
He’s leaving in a couple days, and I’ll never see him again.
~
“Don’t you trust me by now, beautiful?”
He couldn’t see your small smile as you secured the blindfold over his eyes.
“Don't you trust me,” you teased, tugging the fabric further down his nose.
“You do have a history of attacking me unprovoked–,” he laughed, holding his hand up to stop your retort. “I just wanna see your pretty face.”
Pressing a kiss to his pouting lips, you made your way down the bed.
“Guess you’ll have to learn to be patient.”
He opened his mouth to argue, but let out a sigh instead as you started tracing your fingers over his skin, giving him the same attention he kept giving you. As if each part of you was precious to him, and he wanted to savor every bit.
Savor. I want to savor this.
So you did. Everything left your mind except for this moment. The way it used to when you still loved to fish.
Shanks had helped you remember how to enjoy life.
You wanted to pay him back.
“F-Fuck, Y/N…”
His red hair fell back against the headboard as you sucked the tip of his leaking cock into your mouth. He fisted the sheets, your name and breathy curses still falling from his lips.
Your mouth and fingers had already teased his whole body until he was twitching, so you didn’t waste time with teasing now. With one hand sliding along his shaft, and the other massaging his heavy balls, you circled your tongue around his tip until spit slid down his length.
“Please, Y/N, let me take this off. Let me see you.”
“Not yet,” you breathed, before you forced your way further down.
“Fuck, please,” he begged, drawing out the words as he moaned. “I need to see your face, I need you, please.”
His shaking, desperate body, and his continued pleas to see you froze you for a moment, your mouth still around his tip.
“Please, I need to see you. Fuuckk, I need you, ple–”
“Take it off.”
This was the face you would never forget.
He looked almost pained when he took it off, his brows furrowed, and his jaw clenched. Then the eyes that met yours looked frantic, almost feral as heavy breaths came from his parted lips.
He touched your jaw, lifting your face as spit trailed from your mouth to his swollen tip.
“I don’t wanna stop looking at you again.”
Chills ran over your skin as you whimpered, your hands clenching on him until he moaned. He let you go, but you were too stunned to move, your hands pausing their task.
He didn’t beg you to continue. He didn’t tease you. He didn’t say a word.
Shanks just stared at you, a hint of a smile on those lips.
Until a low growl filled the room, breaking the spell.
“Does my damsel need breakfast,” he teased softly.
You answered by taking his cock down your throat, relaxing as you pushed yourself further.
“Oh my– fuck! How are you…”
All the filthy, needy sounds he gave you spurred you on. Your eyes were rolling back in your head, until you forced them open, forcing yourself to meet his hungry gaze.
You still hadn’t taken in all of him, but the slide of his thick veins along your tongue told you that you might not have time.
So you pushed further, moaning around him when he wrapped his fingers into your hair. Tears were already prickling in your eyes when you gave him a nod, bracing yourself on his hips. Letting him take control.
“Gods, you’re fucking perfect, sweetheart. So beautiful taking my cock down your throat. I need you so fucking bad–”
Breathing through your nose and hanging on, the feel of him pushing so deep while he watched your face, while he praised and moaned for you… It was all so much, your own body twisting in on itself with need. It felt like you might come without a single touch.
“So good for me, baby. Take my come for me–”
Unrestrained groans tore from him as he twitched, his hand forcing you down. You cried on his cock as hot ropes of come spilled down your throat, so hot, so fucking much.
Your mind was empty of everything except for swallowing every last drop. After he’d emptied himself in you, he lifted you gently, letting out a pleased hum as he watched you lick your lips, and drink it all in.
“Mm, my damsel,” he purred as he kissed your neck, “my darling. Do you wanna have breakfast before or after I drown in your pussy?”
Your stomach could wait.
After a few minutes of water and rest so you could relearn how to breathe, Shanks worshiped your body again, leaving you tingling, giggling at his soft touches.
“Come here, sweetheart. Let me taste you.”
Shaky knees held you up as your nails dug into the headboard. You leaned your forehead against the wall as Shanks’ tongue dragged through your folds as if looking for treasure.
And he found treasure, sucking your clit until you chanted his name.
“Relax,” he rasped, tugging on your hip, “I need my pretty girl to sit on my face.”
You had looked down into those devilish eyes, and his words alone had you crying out.
“But–”
“I’m a pirate, sweetheart. I can hold my breath a long time if I need to.”
His wink tore a laugh from you, and you wanted to poke him for it, but he managed to yank you down with his one hand, his strength making you gasp before his tongue did.
He rocked your hip back and forth until you followed his movement, grinding your needy cunt across his face. He moaned into your sensitive skin, and you made sounds you didn’t know you could make.
“Shaaanks, feels so good.”
Every moan, every word you gave him seemed to set him on fire, his tongue exploring so deep when it wasn’t attacking your clit. Rubbing yourself back and forth felt unreal, his mouth and nose driving you mad.
“Please, fuck… I’m gonna come, Shanks.”
You tried to pull away, but he wrapped his arm around your thigh, pressing down across your hips so hard, adding to the pressure.
The screams you let out were so loud, the whole camp had to have heard you. You fell forward and gripped your fingers in his hair, only able to watch those dark eyes for a second before you came in his mouth.
Shanks didn’t stop, he kept moaning, playing, drinking you in until you slumped against the headboard, and begged him to stop.
“Mm, you look a little distressed,” he rasped in your ear. “How’s my damsel doing?”
He caught your hand as you tried to slap his chest, your limbs weak and useless.
“My girl’s still fiery after all that,” he laughed, kissing the inside of your wrist. “Want me to order us breakfast in bed?”
~
“Where did you grow up?”
It seemed you wouldn’t be leaving the bed at all today, lounging in messy sheets as you held each other. Laughing, humming with pleasure, sitting in the most comfortable silence you’d ever felt.
Until you started asking questions.
“You’re lookin’ at it,” he gestured vaguely, bringing a frown to your lips.
“Could you be a bit more specific? I don’t think you grew up in these quarters.”
Shanks let out a sigh, rolling to see your face better.
“I grew up on a pirate ship. Always been a pirate.”
“Literally? Or is this some pirate showboating shi–”
“Literally,” he laughed, his grin making you squirm, almost forgetting your goal.
“Well, you’ve heard my whole life story,” you drawled, lightly poking his chest. “I’d like to hear something about the drunken pirate that took me hostage.”
“It’s a vacation,” he teased, leaving kisses on your neck until you squealed.
He gave you a satisfied look as your skin flushed, before tapping the tip of your nose.
“You really haven’t heard of me?”
“Should I have? I don’t really pay attention to gossip. The news seems so far away from this shitty island.”
Tilting his head, he gestured to himself, puffing up his chest.
“Red Haired Shanks?”
“… Well, that is how I would describe you,” you deadpanned, trying not to laugh.
Another heavy sigh left him as he stood, and you admired the sight of his toned body as he headed toward the desk. He laughed at the mess he’d made emptying the drawers last night before he picked up the little stone, and tossed it to you.
He winked when you caught it, rolling it around in your hands while you watched him pull out a piece of paper.
Staring at it for a minute, Shanks turned back to you, looking more serious than you’d ever seen him.
“Is everything alright?”
“Yeah, it’s alright,” he said softly, walking toward you as you sat up in the bed. “I have to show you something, and I don’t want you to be scared.”
Sitting beside you, he caught your eyes, holding your gaze as if you’d disappear if he looked away.
You didn’t think anything about him could scare you anymore until this moment.
“What is it,” you choked out, hoping you weren’t about to lose this perfect feeling with him.
He quirked his lips as he looked down, the crinkling of paper the only sound as he laid it on your lap.
“Wow, you look…”
Shanks’ gorgeous face had distracted you. You knew he was a pirate. Of course he would have a bounty on him. But…
“4,048,900,900 berries?”
It felt like your eyes almost popped out of your skull as you shrieked, smacking his chest while he gave a sheepish grin.
“Looks like you’ve got expensive taste?”
“What the fuck, Shanks?”
Shoving the bounty poster at him, a headache started to form as your mind failed to comprehend a thing.
“Hey, it’s alright,” he soothed, stopping himself as he reached out to touch your shoulder. “I’m still just me. Your handsome, drunken pirate, okay?”
You stared at him dumbly as he chewed on his lip, and you were present enough to see the worry in his eyes.
“You’re still safe with me, Y/N. You’re still safe here. I would never hurt you.”
He stopped himself again as he reached for your face, his breath catching when you took his hand in yours.
“I know,” you whispered, holding his hand against your cheek. “I know I’m safe with you.”
A smile of relief broke across his face as he leaned in. You stopped his lips with your fingers, and narrowed your eyes at him, watching his go wide.
“Now you owe me some stories.”
His laugh was like music, and you gasped as you let him fall upon you, letting this pirate taste you, his kiss full of desperate, infectious joy.
“You have heard of the king of the pirates, right?”
~
“I’ve never met anyone who’s lived more stories than grandma.”
“Your grandma sounds like an amazing woman. What kind of stories did she live,” Shanks asked as he walked his fingers along your skin.
“Well, the thing about fisherman,” you laughed, stretching your arms above your head, “is that you never know which stories are true or not.”
You tapped his nose as his eyes fucking sparkled at you.
“You keep telling me that lying is bad for the soul, but lying for a good story is what makes a true fisherwoman.”
Shanks beamed at you, tucking a few strands of hair behind your ear.
“Do you think any of her stories were true?”
Countless hours beside her, just waiting for a bite, flooded your mind. Those were times you treasured, before you grew to feel ashamed, and frustrated with your lot in life.
Those were times that felt magical, like every possibility was free for you to grasp.
“I'd like to think so,” you mused, seeing her playful grin in your mind, “but I’m pretty sure she was a pirate if they were.”
He let you taste his smile as he kissed you, and you’d never tasted anything better.
-
The two of you finally left his quarters for dinner, his warm arm and cloak wrapped around you as you were met with more cheers at the camp.
“Listen up, crew,” Shanks shouted as he stood, his drink held high. “Our fisherwoman has tales to tell of her grandma the pirate, so let’s gather round. Let’s toast to the woman who taught our fiery damsel how to live!”
Tugging at him was useless as the crew gathered around the fire, their raucous cheers dying down as they waited.
You were frozen, caught in dread and embarrassment until they called for you.
“Come on, fisherwoman! Let us hear it.”
“Tell us a story, Y/N!”
Shanks rubbed along your spine before taking your hand. You held the stone in the other, and let her stories pour out.
You’d never had anyone to share them with before, and it felt like home. Their reactions, their laughs, and questions, all of it spurred you on. The way they’d cheer and toast over triumphs, and curse over misfortunes, filled you with pride.
“That’s Skypiea, “Yassop called out, amidst a wave of affirmations.
“What’s that,” you questioned, this being the first real interruption of the night.
“That island,” Benn explained, “we’ve been there before.”
“Don’t fuck with me. That’s stupid, I know she made this one up,” you argued, annoyed with the lies on their faces. “An island in the sky? Come on.”
Shanks squeezed your hand until you looked at him.
“It’s true,” he swore, eyes heavy with it. “You’re the only one who’s allowed to lie on this crew.”
“But…”
“She must have been a great pirate if she made it to Skypiea,” Lucky Roux chimed in. “What was her name?”
None of them recognized it, and you tried to put the idea to rest.
“If she was a great pirate who settled down with a kid, she probably changed her name,” Benn stated, as if it were fact.
“No. That’s crazy…”
“To the great fisherwoman pirate,” Shanks toasted, with what sounded like reverence. “May her stories live on.”
You drank to the calls of ‘hear hear,’ and her untrustworthy name being shouted at the finally full moon.
“Well, she did cuss like a sailor,” you whispered, still dissociating after Shanks had pulled you onto his lap. He laughed, kissing the top of your head before he whispered back.
“Wanna take a walk with me?”
“Mhm.”
Everything was so bright, the moonlight making the world feel even more surreal.
This man I’ve been drowning in is an Emperor of the Sea.
And grandma's stories might really be true...
You’d been too lost in thought to notice where he’d taken you, until he helped you climb onto the smooth rock by the tide pools.
Careful not to slip, he guided you around to a relatively dry spot, far enough away to be untouched by the tide this early in the night.
“How are you feeling?”
He touched your chin as you sat down, bringing a small gasp to your lips when you saw his shining face, lit like some mythical creature under this heavenly sky.
“I don’t know,” you answered honestly, genuinely searching yourself for the answer. “I think I’m good. It’s just a lot.”
His slow smile caught you again, and the knowledge that your time was short shook you, making you reach for him too.
Falling into a hug, you breathed in the scent of him.
I wish this never had to end.
“You sure you’re alright,” he checked in, smoothing his hand over your back as you buried your face in his chest.
“Kiss me.”
Your whispered command took your breath as his lips met yours. The gentlest of touches, the sweetness he poured into you, made it even harder not to let bittersweet tears fall.
One more day. I have another perfect day with him. Don’t ruin it.
Your hands curled into his hair, and you whimpered with need as he let you push him onto his back.
Shanks met your desperate need, grinding up against you as you straddled him, drinking your moans as your tongues danced together. Chaos, the crashing waves getting closer.
“Y/N,” he breathed, watching you stand to strip under that silver light, tugging his pants down so that you could feel him again.
You needed to feel him again.
“Y/N, you’re incredible. I…”
The full moon lit your skin, but not as much as his gaze did. Those dark eyes left you on fire as you rode his perfect cock to the sound of the tide, his rough hand making you shake as he smoothed along your hips, your stomach, your chest.
“You make me feel so good,” you moaned, still fighting off the bitter from the sweet. “I’ve never felt so—“
Shanks found leverage against the stone, making you cry out as he thrusted up into you, forcing you to steady yourself with your hands on his chest.
“Fuck, I could stay inside you forever, sweetheart. Your perfect pussy sucks me in so well— Mm fuck, yes, baby.”
Falling forward, you moaned against his skin as you came. He kept fucking up into you until you screamed his name.
“Making yourself come on my cock,” he soothed, stroking your hair as his rhythm slowed, but never stopped. “My girl is so good, so good for me.”
His praise brought whimpers from your lips until he pushed himself up, kissing your neck as you sat in his lap, still holding his heat inside you.
“Will you help me spread out the clothes, beautiful? I need you— I need to watch you under the moon like this. Please, damsel, let me…”
You both moaned as you pulled yourself off of him, crawling to the pile of clothes to spread them out. He finished stripping, helping you lay down with a makeshift pillow.
Your fingers wrapped around his length, guiding him to your entrance as his eyes burned into yours. Leaning his weight on his elbow beside you, Shanks’ powerful body started to pump into you, filling you, stretching you.
Slowly, but so deep it made your eyes roll back.
“Look at me, please.”
His words were barely a whisper, barely loud enough to hear over the waves. But you heard his plea, your fingers digging into his skin as you studied his face.
It hurt. You fought to let it be joy. But the intensity, the need, the awe that seemed to flow from him was too much.
Because it seemed to match yours, and you couldn't risk believing it.
Timing your breath with the waves, you let the bitter fade away. You let yourself be nothing at all, except for the lucky person making love to him under the light of the moon. The lucky person whose skin got to be seen, and touched, and tasted by this perfect pirate. This beautiful, sweet, intoxicating man.
Neither of you spoke again. Just watched each other as you fell apart, and the only words given to the night were your names.
Your bodies met that blissful moment together, like some pagan ritual. The bright sky bore witness to pure pleasure, pure connection.
The magic seemed to last forever, your breathless bodies still melded together. Still together.
Until bitter finally won, breaking the spell as salty tears slid down to meet the tide.
“Are you alright, sweetheart?”
Mourning the loss of him as he left your body, you brushed those tears aside, and did what every fisherwoman knows how to do.
“I’m okay,” you breathed, smiling as you touched his cheek.
You lied.

Warnings: a lot of writing, swearing.
┌── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──┐
Michèle, Simone and me had planned to meet up at the butchers shop before school. My shoes clanked against the pavement as I walked side by side with my brother.
“What happened yesterday?” He questioned.
“Hm?”
“In school, I heard something happened, like a fight.”
“Oh, right. Yeah a fight happened and a boy got really hurt.” I looked over to him but he was just looking off into the distance ahead.
“You didn’t get hurt?”
“No it wasn’t like that, I just watched it.”
“Okay, good.”
Soon we arrived at the butcher’s. Simone was already waiting there, leaning against the side of the building in her long blue coat and white skirt.
“I’m going to walk the rest of the way with my friends.”
My brother turned to look at me, “Okay, just don’t be late. You know I’ll get the blame for it if you’re late.”
“Yes, I know.” I sighed and headed towards Simone as Michael walked away.
“You’re itching your leg a lot.” I stated when she turned around at the sound of my footsteps.
“Y/N! You’re here, finally I don’t have to wait on my own.” She sighed in relief, “Yeah, I fell over this morning, a massive bruise is starting to form on my leg, and we have physical education today!”
“Oh wow, hopefully your shorts will cover it.” I say, leaning against the wall next to her.
“I hope so.” She groaned before turning to look at the door, Michèle’s brother, Jean-Pierre walking out.
“Hello Jean-Pierre.” She greets him, smiling wildly. He doesn’t respond, only looking at the two of us and walking away.
“He’s in a good mood.” I say and Simone turns to look at me with a small laugh.
Michèle is soon to walk out of the door after him.
“What’s that all about?” Simone asks her as we start walking towards the school.
“Jean-Pierre has his disciplinary meeting this afternoon.” She looks down at the ground.
“Oh yeah, how do you think it’s going to go?” I ask her, leaning forward over Simone to look at her.
“I’m not sure, hopefully good otherwise I won’t be able to go to school any longer.”
“Don’t think about it, there’s nothing you can do.” Simone reassured her, “Do you know what else is happening this afternoon? Our first PE class, and guess what? I fell over this morning, and I’ve got a massive bruise coming.” She complains, swinging her arms for exaggeration.
“If you pull your shorts over it now and again, I’m sure no one will notice.” I try and make her feel better.
“That’s the thing, boys notice these sorts of things! One bruise on my leg and all the boys are put off, thinking I’m too clumsy or something.”
Me and Michèle giggle in response as we walk through the school gates.
“Hello Matine, hello Monique!” Simone smiles at a group of girls as we pass them.
“Do you know everyone’s names already?” Michèle questions.
“Not everyone no, just the girls.” She says, still smiling. “I hope we’re not doing endurance stuff! Do either of you sweat much?- Hello Laubrac!”
“Simone how many people do you know?” I laugh at her.
“Why did you say hello to him?” Michèle asks.
“Well why wouldn’t I? People are so strange.” After saying this, we turn to look at two boys glaring at Michèle from across the yard.
“My brother gets expelled-”
“He’s not going to.” Simone states.
“Have you forgotten about Descamps? The guy lost an eye.”
“Descamps lost an eye?” I question, “So does he have to wear a fake one now, or have an eyepatch?”
“I can’t imagine Descamps with an eyepatch, he’d look like a pirate!” Simone exclaims, “Anyway, he’s at home, recovering. So the teachers won’t see him. Who will they see? Jean-Pierre!” she explains with her hands flailing by her chest.
“Your brother,” she carries on, “with his handsome good looks, his good grades, his good manners. They’ll forget all about the one eyed boy.”
We come to a stop at the school stairs, the boys in front of us having turned around and staring at something behind us. The three of us look at each other before turning around curiously.
Descamps was stood at the school gates, bag in hand as he looked around miserably. Part of me was happy he was okay, and that his injury hasn’t effected him that much that he didn’t need to stay off school. But another part of me was worried because of the meeting this afternoon, and how the teachers will be thinking of him instead of Jean-Pierre.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
First period was history. Mrs Giraud’s high heels clacked against the wooden floor boards, as I zoned out. We were still in the same seating plan, Michèle and Simone sitting on one desk, me sitting alone on one next to them.
My eyes kept wondering over to Descamps, my mind filled with worry for him. He was just looking down at his paper, or at the board.
A white bandage covered his left eye. As I observed him, I didn’t notice him looking back at me, arms crossed over his chest as he kept a straight face. His gaze looks more dark than yesterday, it was clear the incident had affected him.
Quickly, I looked away, embarrassed, and pretended to be focused on the teacher as she asked a question. I turned slowly to look back at Descamps, curious if he was still looking at me, and he was.
Annick and Felbec both raised their hands quickly, my attention now drawn to them. Mrs Giraud looked at Annick before calling on the boy.
“The 5th to the 12th of September 1914.” He stated as he stood up confidently.
“Mhm, and who were the opposing army?”
At this Annick raised her hand higher, leaning on her desk slightly.
“Miss Sabiani, are you trying to climb onto your desk so I can see you?” Bluebeard started, “Don’t you draw enough attention to yourself?”
Annick looked defeated at this while the class murmured. Poor girl.
“The opposing army?”
“The French and the German.” She responded, hands folded in front of her.
“And the British Force. If you only know half the answer, don’t bother putting your hand up.” Mrs Giraud states cockily as she walks away, “And if you would tie your hair up? We’re not in a barn.”
I feel eyes on me, and turn towards Descamps again. His gaze remained the same, emotionless. He shuffled in his seat slightly when he noticed me looking at him, but he remained eye contact.
“Let’s move on to naming our class leader.” This got most of the class’ attention. I slowly turned my head away from Descamps as he continued to look at me, not wavering his gaze.
Felbec raised his hand again, “In the past, my classmates have always picked me for class leader.” He states proudly, “I’m studious and I get good grades.” The class laughs at this.
"Well, I'm not like your previous teachers. You'll have to earn it." Mrs Giraud smiles.
I grimace, looking a Michèle who has the same reaction. The smile doesn’t suit her.
"Does the Battle of Marathon mean anything to anyone?" Mrs Giraud asks, pacing in front of the class as no one answers.
"Very well. Whoever can give me the date of the Battle of Marathon this afternoon will be named class leader." She tells everyone.
After this I zone out, figuring anything worth listening in on was over now. If I needed to learn anything I could always look at textbooks at home to catch up.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
We got sent to get changed for PE after break, in the teachers bathroom. Simone was taking a while, presumably trying to make her shorts sit in a way that covered her bruise.
Me and Michèle stood outside, leaning on a wall waiting for her.
“Are you feeling okay?” I ask.
“Yeah, I’m alright, still just nervous about this afternoon.”
“I’m sure it’ll be okay. You’re brother is a top student, they wouldn’t want to get rid of a top student.”
She nods and smiles at me, grateful for the reassurance.
“Notice how the boys have a whole changing room, and we can only use the teachers toilet?” Simone complains from behind the door.
“My brother hates me.” Michèle sighs, changing the subject.
“He doesn’t.” I turn to look at her.
“I swear even before all this, he kept his distance.”
Simone comes out of the bathroom, trying to pull her shorts down over her leg more.
“A brother can never hate his sister.” She states while shutting the door.
“Because you’re lucky.”
“What? My brother stayed in Algiers with my parents. I doubt I’ll even see him for Christmas.”
As we head outside to class, the two carry on the conversation about Algiers while I walk along side them.
Once we reach the sports hall, Simone starts worrying about her bruise again, trying to cover it up with her blue shorts.
“Don’t try and hide it, you’ll just draw attention to it.” I tell her.
“Now it’s yellow and green with purple spots. It’s horrible!”
“Nobody will see it.” Michèle reassures her, shaking her head as we walk towards the teacher to wait.
“Yeah right, everyone will see it.” She sighs defeatidly as we watch the boys walk in, “Shorts and in blue which will make it worse. I’m gonna turn sideways.” She shuffles her feet and faces a different direction.
As Annick walks in, everyone turned to look at her. Whistles sounded from the boys that echoed around the room.
“Hm, no need to turn sideways after all.” Simone looks at us.
“How does she get her hair so smooth?” Michèle questions.
“No idea. Maybe you should ask her. Start up a conversation so we can be better friends with her.” I turn to the side to look at them both.
“I don’t have the confidence to do that. I’ll be scared incase she judges me.” Michèle replies.
“She won’t, you’re just asking her a question.” I state. The conversation stops once Annick stands by us, and we all give her an awkward smile.
The teacher then hands out balls to some of the boys, telling them to warm up. The four of us just stand off to the side, waiting to be given something to do.
Applebaum passes behind us to put his glasses down. I watch as he walks, noticing how he tries to glance in our direction every now and again.
Just then Descamps and Dupin walk in confidently, and my gaze is drawn to them.
“If you want to stay with us, you can go to the side, okay?” The teacher tells Descamps as he isn’t in PE uniform. He goes to sit on the bleachers, hands in his pockets.
“Gentlemen! Let’s start a game.” The teacher calls loudly, “I want two teams on the court, one facing the other.”
“Sir!” Annick shouts, raising her hand and indicating that the girls need something to do as well.
“Ah. The girls.”
He then made us lay out mats as he brought the rope from the ceiling down.
“They get handball, and we get this?” Simone complains as we all look between each other and the rope.
Annick is the first one to grab the rope. Crossing her legs around it and using her arms to bring herself up.
A loud thwack comes from the side of us, catching my attention. Applebaum is on the floor, rubbing his head as Laubrac stands over him, hand on his shoulder in reassurance.
“Ouch.” I say to the other two girls, making them look over to him.
Out of the corner of my eye I see Descamps smirking at him. As I turn my focus onto him, he looks to me, still smirking. This time I don’t break eye contact as quickly, staring at him for a few seconds before focusing back on Annick.
“She’s even good at gym.” Simone says admiringly as she holds the robe to keep it steady, “She’s like Marilyn Monroe!” Me and Michèle laugh at this, Simone smiling as well.
“We have nothing in common with her.” She carries on, “Have you seen her skin? She’s perfect, that’s Hollywood skin.” Simone focuses behind us, “Think your brother needs you there.”
We all look towards the door, noticing Jean-Pierre standing by the door with panic on his face. The blonde girl runs over there quickly, me and Simone watching them talk.
“Y/N, can you take the rope? I’m going to see if they need help.” Simone questions and hands me the rope before running off to the door.
I turn to look back up at Annick, to make sure she’s doing okay. She’s already halfway up the rope, and she doesn’t look tired.
In front of me I can still see Descamps looking my way. Once he notices I was looking at him, he quickly looks away, focusing on the boy’s game and pretending to be interested in it.
I laugh at this, and turn back to look at the door. Michèle had run off, now leaving Jean-Pierre and Simone to talk. She looked up at him happily while he just looked at her confused.
Running back to me she smiles and takes the rope back.
“Thanks. Oh my gosh she’s so high up!”
“Mhm. What did Jean-Pierre need?” I ask, looking at her.
“His blazer ripped, so he asked Michèle to find him another one.” She replies, looking between me and Annick.
Laubrac runs out of the room, his shirt ripped. Both me and Simone watch him as he runs towards the lockers.
“Michèle didn’t go into the boys locker room, right?” I ask worriedly.
“I’m sure she’ll be fine. It’s Laubrac, he won’t say anything.” She says before looking over my shoulder, “Hey, Descamps is looking at us.”
Quickly I turn my head in his direction, and he doesn’t look away. What’s his problem with staring?
“Do you think he’s mad at us because of what happened with his eye?” Questions Simone.
“Why would he be mad at us?”
“I don’t know. Maybe because we’re friends with Michèle.”
I turn back to her, “No, I don’t think so. I think he’s just a teenage boy, you know what they’re like, always staring.” We both giggle.
We notice that Michèle had ran back to Jean-Pierre now, handing him a blue blazer as he smiles and runs off.
As Michèle runs back towards us, Annick comes down from the rope, trying to steady her breathing.
“I’ll go next.” Michèle says as she grabs hold of the rope.
Me and the two other girls go to sit down on the matt as she begins to climb.
“You always hold yourself so straight.” Simone says to Annick, trying to mimic her posture, “Did your mum teach you that?”
“No.” The blonde girl replies dryly.
“How do you get your hair so nice?” I ask her this time, leaning forward over Simone so I can look at Annick.
“Uhm, conditioner and rollers.” She looks back at me.
I nod, and there’s an awkward silence for a minute or two as we watch the boys play.
“Ever been to Hollywood?” Simone breaks the silence.
Annick just turns to look at her, confused. Simone seems embarrassed by the question when the girl doesn’t answer. She turns to look at me with a sad smile before we all focus back on the boys.
It’s silent until Michèle comes down, then the teacher blows the whistle, indicating the end of the lesson.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
After getting changed, we head to sit on a bench for break. I sit in between the two girls, Simone staring at Annick and Michèle zoning out. I look at Descamps and Pichon talking, the shorter boy having to look up quite a bit to look him in the eye. What an odd pair to be having such a calm conversation.
“Why doesn’t she talk to us?” I turn to look at Simone and Annick when she says this, “Must be a film star thing. She said she’s never been to Hollywood, but we don’t know that. Are you listening to me?” She turns to the both of us.
“Uh, yeah.” This catches Michèle’s attention. She looks concerned about her brother, biting her lip and fiddling with her hands.
“Disciplinary hearings take a long time, don’t worry about it!” The short haired girl shrugged her shoulders, as Michèle looks away, thinking about something.
“Have you used the rope a lot?” She turns to look at the both of us.
“I haven’t.” I shrug.
“No. Why do you ask?” Simone smiles.
“No, it’s fine.” Michèle says, flustered.
Pichon comes up behind us, making me jump and turn towards him.
“Annick!” He says, quite quietly as he leans on the back of the bench.
“Why don’t you just go and talk to her?” Simone says as Annick walks over to us.
“What do you want?”
“Uh, can I talk to you?” He looks nervous.
The three of us watch as they walk away.
“Do you think he likes her?” I turn back to the other two.
“Yes.” Simone replied immediately, nodding her head, while Michèle carries on watching them.
“Is he asking for her hand in marriage?” Simone laughs. And we both turn back to look at the curiously.
After a few minutes she turn away, and walks back.
“She looks angry.” I state. She then turns to look at us, and we all quickly look away, pretending to be busy and in conversation.
“So, how are you?” Simone says to us loudly, so Annick thinks we weren’t focused on her.
“I am good.” I nod as we all burst into laughter.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Next class was history, and I was excited to see if Annick or Felbec had the answer.
“So, who has earned the honour of becoming class captain?” Mrs Giraud asks the class as she places her coat over her chair.
Two hands are raised, Felbec and Descamps. I look at Descamps confused. Since when did he participate in class? She calls on Felbec first.
“The 5th century BC.” He states plainly as he stands.
“That is correct.” She nods, and he looks pleased with himself, “But if I asked you to give me the date of the Battle of Verdun, what would you say? The twentieth century?” She humiliates him, and he looks down in embarrassment as he returns to his chair.
“Descamps?” She calls, and he stands up fiddling with his fingers nervously. It’s a weird look for Descamps, not a bad one, just weird.
“Four hundred and ninety BC” He states, waiting for Mrs Giraud to respond. The whole class is surprised by him giving an answer, me included.
“Congratulations, Descamps. Can you tell me where you found that date?” She tilts her head.
“Uhm, in the textbook.”
“Surprising. The Persian Wars aren't part of the curriculum.”
I turn to look at Descamps. Part of me feels sorrow for him, but part of me also feels relieved that he got caught. I had a feeling he cheated.
“In another book then, I don’t really remember.” He says as he shuffles on his feet.
“You’ve forgotten already? If you can’t remember where you got the date, how will you remember anything when you get your diploma?” She says confidently to him.
Pichon pushes his chair back and stands up, causing all heads to turn to him.
“I gave him the date.” He says. That’s why they were talking earlier. “Four hundred and ninety BC. It’s in the book on Ancient Greece. I know that because… I read it in the book.”
I look at Descamps, he seems a mix of upset and mad. I guess he really wanted to be class captain.
“And why did you give Descamps the answer?” Mrs Giraud said sternly.
“I wasn’t sure if I could do it,” He fiddles with his fingers nervously, “Be class captain.”
“Pichon, you are our class captain.” She states, leaning her fingertips on the back of her chair.
Pichon looks down, smiling slightly before sitting back down in his chair. Descamps in the opposite, clenching his jaw and fists as he look over at Pichon.
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
“Should I iron Laubrac’s jacket before I give it back to him?” Michèle asks as we walk, it was the end of the school day.
“Do you like him?” I question her excitedly.
“N-no! What makes you say that?”
“You do like him!” Simone squeals, “if you want to make a good impression then iron his jacket. That’ll make him like you.”
“You think?” She laughs.
“Definitely.” I nod in agreement, “Oh, I forgot my cardigan.” I say to the two girls when we walked by a window, realising how cold it was outside.
“You two carry on, I’ll go back and get it.” I tell them with a smile, and start walking away.
“We can wait for you if you’d like.” Simone says, Michèle nodding next to her.
“No, no. It’s fine. I have errands to run anyway.” I wave my hands at them.
“Okay! See you tomorrow.” They both say and I nod and smile back before heading to my last lesson.
I knock on the door, the teacher was sat at his desk looking at papers when I walk in.
“Sorry sir, I left my cardigan in here.” I say, shuffling on my feet nervously.
“That’s yours is it? Go ahead.” He doesn’t look up, just reading the papers.
“Thank you.” I walk across the classroom to my desk, before picking up my cream cardigan and walking out, closing the door behind me.
As I walk into the corridor, Descamps and his friends walk past. His head turns to me as he stops.
“Joseph?” His friends question.
“Carry on, I have stuff to do.” He nods to them as they walk away.
“Are you okay? Did you need anything?” I ask him curiously.
“Uhm, no. Just wanted to talk.” He says, looking at me and passing his bag and umbrella to the other hand while he shuffles on his feet.
“Oh, okay. About what?” I look at him as I turn and we begin to walk through the corridor, me putting on my cardigan.
“Yesterday. You know, at lunch.” He stares down at his feet.
“Really? You want to talk about it?”
“Yeah, I feel bad.”
“You feel bad? Joseph Descamps feels bad about his actions?” I laugh.
“Shut up. I do. You didn’t do anything to me and I went at you. You were just defending your friend.” He explains with his hands in his pockets.
“Since when did you get all sappy? Aren’t you supposed to be the big, strong bully?” I mock him.
He smiles and sighs.
“I just wanted to apologise. Just know that if I start on you, I don’t mean it.” He stops and looks at me, me doing the same.
“You don’t mean it?”
He shakes his head.
“What about other people?”
“What do you mean other people?”
“When you argue with Michèle do you mean it?”
“Well yeah, I don’t like her.” He shakes his head and points to the bandage on his face.
“Oh, right.” We turn and start walking again. “In all fairness though it was Jean-Pierre who did that to you.”
He sighs louder this time, and I start to feel sorry for him.
“You didn’t deserve it. Yeah you were mean to Michèle but, you didn’t deserve that.” I say as i point to my own eye. He turns to look at me, a small smile on his face for a second.
“It suits you.” I tell him.
“The bandage?”
“Yeah. The whole one eyed thing. Makes you look cool.”
He laughs in response as we get towards the school doors.
“Fuck.” I mumble, and stop in my tracks once I notice it’s raining.
“What?”
“The rain, I didn’t bring an umbrella, my mum said the sky was supposed to be clear today.” I tell him as he turns around to look at me.
“Just use mine?”
“Use yours?” He nods at me.
“I don’t mind. Here.” He hands me the black umbrella and I smile at him.
“Thank you.” I open it up and step outside with him, covering him with the umbrella as well as we start to walk.
I have to hold my hand up pretty high for it to reach over his head. He notices this and takes the umbrella for me, covering the both of us as he holds it.
We don’t talk much as we walk in the direction of my house, just small talk and talk about school.
The rain comes down heavier, splashing against the umbrella.
“This is my house.” I turn to him once we get close to the door.
“Already?” He looks down at me.
“Hm?”
“Nothing. Just get inside, I don’t want you getting anymore wet.” I nod at him in response.
“Thank you, for walking me home, and the umbrella.” I smile.
“It’s fine, I like your company anyway.”
“You’re a completely different person when you’re on your own Descamps.” I laugh at him while opening my house door.
“Shut up. No I’m not.”
“If you say so. Goodbye.”
“Bye.” He walks away with a stern face, making me laugh.

Chapter warnings: slight mentions of doing the nasty. MDNI!
Summary:
You are the Heart Pirates' beloved cook and sniper. However, you were also an insufferable troublemaker who always seemed to get on Law's nerves. He swears he's going to get rid of you one day, but as much as he hates it, why does he find you fascinating? Was it because you reminded him of someone he was greatly fond of?
As your relationship with Law grows, he only hopes you don't fucking embarrass him. After all, he has an image to uphold as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
This story starts off as short stories between (Y/N), Law and the Heart Pirates, then picks up into the One Piece canon timeline, starting from Punk Hazard. This is a slow-burn Law x Female Reader story!
Updates every Monday!

You were instantly hit with regret when you and Law stepped foot at Punk Hazard. It was a month since you and the captain dropped off the crew at Zou to assist him in his mission to stop Doflamingo, but you desperately wanted to turn around and return for them. But it was too late, and Law seemed amused with the sight of you shivering in the vast cold land of the half of Punk Hazard.
"Wow, it's not that cold here," Law said sarcastically as he walked towards a large door by a mountainside. While keeping his head forward, you saw him look at you with a smirk on his lips. Annoyed by your captain's sarcastic remark, you stooped to the ground to grab a handful of snow and chucked it at the back of Law's black coat. The man chuckled, clearly unbothered by your tantrum.
"Shut up! If you told me that we would travel to the fucking Arctic, I would've dressed better!" you comically spat at him.
"I told you (Y/n)-ya, you should've worn that boiler suit." the man tutted back at you.
There was no arguing that. You fought tooth and nail against your captain on wearing anything else but those damned boiler suits, and now you're paying the price for it. So you opted for a cute black fur coat that went down to your knees and black leggings, but it was not enough to keep you warm in the insane cold environment of Punk Hazard
"I'd rather die than wear those ugly boiler suits! We're not with the crew anyway!" you argued back.
You and Law now stood in front of a giant steel door. With his slender finger, Law knocked on the door. A few seconds passed before the door scrapped open, revealing a pale white man with spiked black hair. He stood very tall, but he didn't have any legs as it was replaced with gas. His yellow eyes bore into you and Law before his lips turned into a sinister smile.
"Well well well! What do we have here? Shuorororo!" the man creepily giggled. "A warlord at my doorstep? I'm honoured!" Then he took a look at you who was behind Law, and his eery smile widened even more. "And you brought along a sweet treat!"
"Caesar Clown. I came here for some business with you." Law said with a calm demeanour. Although he spoke professionally, there was a slight tone of aggressiveness. "I've heard about your production in SMILE fruits and SAD and I'm greatly intrigued. So, I'm offering that we can be business partners, to help you with production and distribution."
"And why should I engage in a partnership with you?" Caesar questioned.
The tattooed doctor hummed before he gave his answer. "You can use my Warlord status as protection."
The pale man smirked, "I already work for a Warlord. I won't disclose his name, but the JOKER already compensates me well."
"What about extra protection from another Warlord?" you piped up behind your captain.
The two men looked at you. Law stared at you with amusement while Caesar held a bewildered expression.
"That doesn't seem to be a bad idea. Good thinking (Y/n)-ya." your captain said with praise. He then turned his head back at the gaslike man. "The JOKER may be a good employer, but he will backstab you Caesar-ya. But with me, I can be that backup plan just in case things go wrong with your little business, hm?"
"Little?! For your information, my work is greatly sought after! I am the second-best scientist in the world and my work and weaponry directly supply an Emperor of the Seas!" Caesar scoffed.
You stepped up and took your place beside Law. "More of a reason to partner with my captain! If all goes to shit with the production of SAD, who do you think is first to blame?" you piqued up.
That seemed to get the mad scientist thinking. "Well well. You're not just a pretty face after all. Shurorororo!"
Even though you cringed at the compliment, you couldn't help but swell with pride, seeing that Law gave you a tiny smile of appreciation your way.
"The two of you come inside! I'm warming up to this idea of being business partners with another Warlord..."Caesar started to ramble as he ushered the two of you inside the facility.
-------------------------------
You really wanted to go back to the Polar Tang now.
The facility wasn't bad at all. Everything was provided: space, a place to rest, and food. But you felt that something suspicious was going on and you couldn't figure out what it was. Law refused to tell you why he wanted to stay on Punk Hazard, but you understood it was all to avoid compromising the mission. He even exchanged his heart with Monet, another person staying in Punk Hazard, so that no one could betray one another.
Speaking of Monet, you hated the woman. Something about here didn't sit right with you, but you couldn't figure out why.
As you walked the laboratory corridors, you spotted that a research room had its door slightly cracked open. Curiosity got to you, prompting you to peek inside. Standing at the door, you touched your chest and muttered 'Calm'. With the newfound Devil Fruit powers you gained a month ago, you could take away sound from yourself and your environment. And it proved very useful now that you were peeking in this room.
There, Monet was sitting on a chair, writing notes on a desk. To her left, was Law, sitting on a couch to her right and Caesar was standing in front of him. They were engaged in a conversation, and you couldn't help but listen in.
"So, you're Trafalgar Law. Also known as the Surgeon of Death. You hail from the North Blue. You ate the Op-Op Fruit." she spoke as she was writing away.
Law glanced at her as she continued to speak. "You also brought your subordinate, (Y/n). A formidable sniper and a cook at the Heart Pirates. She hails from the East Blue. You said she ate a Devil Fruit recently but no information about its type."
Monet turned from her chair to face the two men to her right. "There are former prisoners that are on this island who were affected by a poison gas. Can you heal them?" she asked.
Your captain continued to stare at her. Meanwhile, Caesar continued the conversion. "I'll let you and your subordinate stay here, so long as you assist me and don't tell anyone else about this lab. Are we clear Trafalgar?"
"So be it. Also, you are not to tell anyone that (Y/n)-ya and I are here. That includes Joker alright?" Law said firmly.
A light giggle passed Monet's lips. "Caesar, I say that it's fine that he stays here. Besides, he's cute," she said as she threw a wink in Law's direction, much to his dismay.
An unpleasant shiver went down your spine as your chest started to tighten.
Now you really didn't like her. That was strike one.
--------------
 A week slowly went by as you and Law stayed at the Laboratory. You found out that there were children and giant children, who were staying at the lab because Caesar said he was finding a cure for them. Of course, you didn't believe him, and you took it upon yourself to find out that the kids were actually guinea pigs for Caesar and his messed up experiments. But with your given circumstance, you knew that Law had a plan to take down Caesar and the SAD factory, so it was a matter of being patient with him. So the most you could do right now was feed the kids and keep them safe.
Tonight, you made the kids spaghetti and meatballs, and when you presented it to them in the Biscuit Room, which was where they were staying, they all cheered joyfully.
A small smile graced your lips as you watched the kids eat the dinner they made you.
"This is amazing (Y/n)!" a giant girl named Mocha exclaimed. She wolfed down her portions and reached out her bowl to you. "Seconds please!"
"Good thing I made two buckets full of spaghetti, you kids got big appetites!" you giggled as you gave the girl another portion.
"I'm so glad you came here! The food you make is awesome!" A blond boy named Sind cheered.
The rest of the kids shouted with joy as they continued to eat. As you were serving the kids their second portions, you didn't realize that Law walked into the room and made his way beside you.
"Oh, hello Mr. Snow Leopard!" A giant kid named Konbu called out.
You turned your head to see your captain with a sour face. He was not fond of the nickname the kids had given him.
"Hey, Captain Snow Leopard. Fancy you seeing here." you teased.
"Don't be copying these brats too (Y/n)-ya, address me properly." he scowled.
A cackle left your lips while you prepared a plate for him. "Oh, don't be mean. You know these kids are going through a hard time by being here, and we're the only ones decent enough to take care of them."
"You're forgetting that Monet takes care of them as well," he answered back as he reached out to take the plate of spaghetti from your hands.
The smile on your face fell as Monet's name was mentioned. Your grip on the plate tightened as Law tried to take it.
"I see that you're getting comfortable with Monet, are you captain?" you said in a high-pitched voice, laced with discontent. A smile appeared on your face again, but it was clear that you were irritated.
"I would like a plate of spaghetti please." your captain said as he tried to pull the plate away from your iron grip.
"Hm, I don't feel like giving it to you now." you singsonged. You pulled the plate away from his tattooed hand and gave it to Mocha instead.
"Are you mad at me?" Law gritted, clearly irritated by your actions.
"I don't know Cap, did you do something to piss me off?" you shot back at him.
The doctor grabbed the collar of your black jacket and brought your face close to his. "Don't start this again (Y/n)-ya. If you have an issue then spit it out." he lowly said.
You raised your right hand which was holding a pair of tongs, and smacked Law's head with it. The tattooed captain let go of his grip on you and proceeded to clutch his head as he stumbled back in surprise.
"You're a smart man, figure it out yourself!" you shouted at him.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Law shouted back.
The two of you grabbed each other's collars and started to hurl more insults at each other.
The children watched the quarrel between you and Law with amusement. They started to whisper amongst themselves.
"They're funny!"
"They remind me of my mom and dad. Now I miss them..."
"Wow, I've never seen (Y/n) this mad before, it's funny!"
You and the tattooed captain were butting heads until Monet made her way into the Biscuit Room.
"Time for your candy!" she called out. The kids dropped their plates and proceeded to run toward the green haired woman.
Pulling away from your captain's collar, you started to clean up the plates and utensils littered on the floor. "There's your woman," you muttered while cleaning up.
"Hm?" Law said, "What did you say?"
"Hi, Monet! Did you want some spaghetti? I made some for dinner!" you called out while ignoring Law.
Monet made her way to you. "Oh, I would love some!" Then she looked at Law and smiled. "If you haven't eaten yet, would you like to join me for dinner Trafalgar?"
Law 'tched' in response. In the corner of Monet's eye, she saw your face deepen into a scowl. The sight of you being mad made her smile
That fucking woman was pushing you buttons and she was enjoying it. The handle of the pot started to crack as your hand gripped as tight as ever in anger. However, you managed to shove down your emotions and flashed a fake smile towards her and Law. The doctor raised his eye in skepticism as he saw you set down the pot and prepare two plates of spaghetti.
"Oh, how nice would that be? Here you go! You two enjoy dinner!" you said with fake cheerfulness. Shoving the plates into their hands, you quickly scrambled to set the plates and pots into the rolling cart and sped out of the Biscuit Room.
"Thank you (Y/n)! Your cooking is always delicious!" Monet thanked you.
The tattooed captain just stared at your back as you were leaving the room. He knew something was up with you. Sighing in exhaustion, he brushed your behaviour aside as he started to think about the mission he was currently in.
Unbeknownst to Monet and Law, you were unbelievably angry and veins started to pop on your forehead as you made your way back into the kitchen. Heavy stomps echoed throughout the hallway as you angrily pushed the food trolley. With your hands tightly gripping onto the trolley bar, you took a deep breath and sighed.
That was strike two. One more strike and you were going to beat both of their asses to the snowy grounds of Punk Hazard.
-------------
You heard that Law agreed to give Caesar's henchmen limbs. It was one of the conditions that Caesar implemented for you and the captain to stay at Punk Hazard, aside from exchanging the literal hearts of Law and Monet to prevent backstabbing.
So when you were walking across the halls of the laboratory and heard the deathly screams of grown men echo throughout, you weren't surprised.
"Looks like the captain is performing surgery today." you giggled as you skipped along the hallway. Deciding that you wanted to see the disembodiment in action, you quickly followed the sounds of agony. But as you were nearing the door, the screaming suddenly halted. As you slowed down your pace, you quietly made your way to the door and heard light shuffling and Monet's voice, You leaned up against the door with your right ear to listen.
"Alright, I'm ready Trafalgar," Monet said. "Are you sure this won't hurt?"
More shuffling was heard until Law spoke up. "First time? Don't worry, I'll stick it in slowly."
Your entire body froze as your mouth dropped in horror. "What the hell are they doing in there?!" you hissed to yourself.
You heard a light grunt and a sharp inhale. More shuffling.
"Oh my, that's kind of big now that I look at it," Monet commented. "It feels weird too."
"Don't worry, you'll get used to it," You heard Law reply. "Now, hold still, I'm going to shove it in."
Oh that was it. That was strike three. And you know what they say. Three strikes and you’re out. And by out you meant that you were going to kill your captain and that green-haired witch.
Your mind short-circuited as you assumed that your captain and that damned woman were up to no good. With your mind and heartbeat going 100 miles per hour, you grabbed the handle and swung the door wide open, screaming; "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THERE?!"
And as soon as you laid your eyes upon Law and Monet, your heart stopped and your feet were stuck in place.
There they were, with Law's back facing you and the green-haired woman lying on her back on the couch. The doctor's left tattooed hand was holding onto her right leg which was up in the air. Your captain's face was turned to you with his face widening in horror, and Monet tilted her head to the left to look at you.
What set you off was when Monet glanced at you, her long green hair was dishevelled.
Steam started to blow through your ears as you glared hole into Law and Monet. Your entire body started to shake uncontrollably as your chest heaved up and down aggressively.
Realizing that he was caught in a position that already caused a great misunderstanding, Law quickly let go of the leg he was holding onto and scrambled to make your way towards you. What you failed to see was that Monet's left leg was now replaced with a giant talon.
"(Y/n)-ya, you can't just barge into here while-" he started but you cut him off.
"CAPTAIN TRAFALGAR LAW! WHAT IN NEPTUNES GREAT BEARD ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT BITCH?!" you bellowed.
Unable to think straight, you stomped past your captain headed towards the large bird talon on the desk in front of the couch. As you picked it up with your right hand, you whipped your head to glare at the insufferable woman lying on the couch.
"You've got some nerve seducing my captain like that!" you shrieked as you swung the limb towards Monet. She promptly dodged your attack and screamed, running away from the couch and onto the other side of the room.
"(Y/n)! It's not what you think! He just-" she started to explain before you swung at her again.
"I don't want to fucking hear it!" you screeched as you chased the poor limping woman around the room.
"Shambles!" Law grunted. And as soon as he said it, you swung the talon once more towards Monet, only to knock down a bookshelf onto the floor.
You whipped your head to face the captain once more. Law shuddered as he saw your eyes glimmer with hate. It was screaming bloody murder, and he was on the receiving end of it.
"YOU! Oh, you've got some nerve! You men disgust me!" you screeched as you stomped towards the doctor. With your left foot planted in front, your right arm swung up, reading to assault the man with the bird limb.
"(Y/n)-ya wait! Whatever you're thinking, we didn't do it!" he yelped as he jumped to the side to avoid your attack. However, he didn't know that you were quick enough to see through his actions and the back of the talon hit him on the side of his head, which successfully smacked him to the ground.
Your left hand reached out to the pistol that was hoisted on your hip. You drew it out and pointed it to the man on the floor, "Falling for a woman like that? How despicable! I-!" you started to lecture, but your voice drowned out as you realized that your outburst of anger took all the energy out of you.
"I-" you started to speak but your voice failed you. As your hand fell back to your side, you started to wonder why you acted like that. Even if they had something between them, it wasn't your place to care, unless you were...
"...Jealous? Are you jealous (Y/n)-ya?" Law called out as you returned to your senses. The discomfort that once reflected in his eyes was replaced with amusement as his mouth raised in a smirk.
Your eyes widened at the revelation as your heart started to pound. A bright red flush appeared on your cheeks.
"There's no way," you muttered. The limb that once was on your hand dropped to the ground as you stumbled back in shock. Glancing at Law, who now stood up with his arms crossed, you shot a nasty glare as the smirk on his face widened even more.
"Why would I be jealous?! I was just protecting your dignity!" you sputtered. The captain made a stride towards you as he chuckled.
"What a stupid reason. You expect me to believe that?" he teased.
He was now looming in front of you as you backed up to a wall. Your head was bowed down in embarrassment as you refused to look into his steel grey eyes.
"I wasn't jealous..." you lowly muttered.
"Somehow that's not believable," Law answered back. He dipped his head to your eye level so that he could make eye contact with you, but you whipped your head to the side, still refusing to meet his eyes.
Amused by your sudden 180-degree change in mood, your captain stood straight up, placed his hand on the back of your head, and kissed your forehead.
The once freezing temperature of the laboratory now skyrocketed into a burning hot sensation as Law made an out-of-character advance toward you. Whipping your head up to face Law, your face was now burning hot with more embarrassment.
"Captain! What was that for?" you yelped in surprise.
Law simply chuckled. "Sometimes, I wonder what goes on on that interesting head of yours. One minute you're beating me with a bird limb and then the next I find out it's because you're jealous."
You shoved away the man in front of you and pouted. "I am NOT jealous! I just had to straighten you up and remind you that we're on a mission here!"
"Oh please, if anything, you were the one who forgot that we had a mission (Y/n)-ya." he retorted.
"Whatever, now help me clean up this mess," you sneered as you proceeded to pick up the fallen books that you knocked down from your rampage. The tattooed captain chuckled and proceeded to assist you in a comfortable silence for a while before he spoke up again.
"(Y/n)-ya?" he said as he hoisted up the fallen bookshelf.
"Yeah what is it cap," you said with disinterest as you continued to collect the fallen items.
"You know you'll always have me right?" he announced.
Your heart picked up slightly at the confession. Then A smile graced your lips as you turned your head to face Law. "Shut up and put that bookshelf up, Cap," you finally said as you tried to dismiss your feelings.
The captain sighed as he shook his head. A rumble of laughter started to escape his chest, and you followed suit. Amidst the chaos that happened in one of the laboratory rooms, you and Law couldn't help but share one of the many moments you had with one another, even though the two of you were far away from home.
----------
Bonus Scene:
In the Polar Tang, the Heart Pirates were nowhere to be seen. That was because all of them were inside the captain's quarters, staring at a small book at the captain's desk. The cover of the book read 'Journal'.
"So, should we open it?" Penguin asked, with his hand hovering over the notebook.
"Yeah man, let's do it!" Shachi affirmed.
"Guys, what if the captain finds out?" Bepo chittered.
"You idiot, there's no way he'd find out if he's not here!" Ikkaku chided the Mink.
"Sorry..." Bepo muttered.
 Penguin picked up the book and slowly opened it. "Alright you guys, here we go..."
Everyone leaned in and peered over Penguin's shoulders as the notebook opened. As soon as the first page was opened, a bunch of folded envelopes fell out and scattered on the ground. The entire crew crouched down and picked them up.
"It's addressed to (Y/n)," Hakugan announced.
"This one too." Jean Bart said.
"This one as well!" Uni called out.
"Wait a minute, are these all love letters for (Y/n)? And he never gave them to her?" Shachi said bewilderedly.
"Guys, captain's journal is just filled with yearning for (Y/n)!" Penguin cackled as he skimmed through Law's journal.
The whole crew burst into laughter as they crowded around Penguin once more to read what the captain had to say about you.

Lmao this made me think of Jakey Poo
Tumblr media
You know what? I'm making this canon for how Jake and Sunshine met.
Tumblr media
Summary: Jake knows he's the luckiest man in the world and it's all because of you.
Warnings: None at this time. Please let me know if I missed any!
A/N: Reader is female. No physical descriptors used.
Part 1

Poor Jake didn't have much going for him when he left military service for the civilian life. He's just not sure what to do with himself outside of work and gaming. He tries to go out, especially when he's meeting up with The Losers again, but often he finds himself just feeling lonely with too much time on his hands.
Then he gets a ticket from you. The problem seems like an easy enough fix so Jake, still being the new guy on the team, gets assigned to it. He signs onto the Zoom app that he despises with all of his being, but it's company policy to use it.
When you answer the Zoom call your voice is so sweet that it takes Jake a second to respond. You actually think there's something wrong with the connection and he hears you saying, "frick. Even in the future nothing works."
He laughs, recognizing the Spaceballs reference, and startles you. "Sorry about that," he chuckles, as he hears your gasp. "That was just...really funny. Don't meet a lot of Spaceballs fans these days." He shakes his head, "anyways, I'm going to take control of your computer for a bit so I can try to fix it."
"Of course," you reply. It is standard procedure.
Jake gets a remote look at your desktop background and gasps, "you're a Pokemon fan!"
"Gen 1 and proud," you reply.
"That might explain what happened," he starts. "You let your Magnemite get too close to your laptop!" You laugh at the joke and Jake feels his cheeks heat up.
"Well it certainly isn't a Rattata chewing on the wires," you chuckle back.
"Hmm. Maybe we should get maintenance to double check," he jokes. He starts poking around your system files and is immediately at a loss. "What the..."
"Everything okay?"
"Umm..." Jake starts floundering. "I, um, I think. Hmm..."
Shit, he thinks. He was really hoping he could impress you. He's never even seen you but you're so nice and a fellow geek. He wanted to go in, press a button and fix your problem, but this is something more complicated than the ticket implied. He's wishing he had his pirate hat to help him think.
"Okay," he shakes his head, clearing his thoughts, "I think I'm going to need to take a look at the computer itself to figure this out."
"Sure thing." You exchange names and give him your cubicle number and quickly start cleaning up your desk. He might be an IT guy but his voice is very sexy, his laugh even moreso. And he's a fellow geek! Not someone who looks down on you for liking "childish things". You want to make a good impression.
By the time Jake gets to your cubicle you've tidied up pretty well. You smile up at him and Jake swears he's never met a more beautiful woman in his life. He's barely able to get out a "hi" because you've taken his breath away.
You're trying hard not to giggle and kick your feet at how cute Jake is. The fact that you've flustered him isn't lost on you and it makes you feel even giddier.
"Um, I um, I like your, your Gravity Falls sweater," Jake finally gets out.
Looking down you realize you're wearing your handmade Mabel Pines sweater and your face lights up. "Oh, thanks! I made it myself!"
"That's so cool," Jake says, earnestly. "I'm always so jealous of people who can make their own cosplay stuff."
"I could make you something," you quickly offer. "If, that is, um, if you'd like."
He smiles at you and, for the first time in a very long time, he feels like everything's going to be okay. The clouds are parting and you, the sunshine, are lighting up his life.

Let's analyze Captain Rose's final message (ep. 113 spoilers!!!)
I have transcribed the entire thing into my notes, and there are few parts that I believe give us some subtle hints to important lore bits. So let's take a look at these fragments, shall we?
"Even with the Emperor’s gracious accommodations, I can never feel at ease unless I’m sleeping on the sea. Tomorrow, we depart this beautiful country for one last ride."
Nothing that crazy here, but now we have a better grasp at the timeline. So this confirms, that the last place Black Rose Pirates have been to, before they departed for the final adventure led by Hendrix's map was Onowa Country, and judging by what comes next, the chest was also created and left there during that last stay.
"But…if you’re hearing this, it means we all died."
If you recall, Drey mentioned few episodes back, that thier final excursion was of little significance, barely worth remebering. But here Rose is, about to embark on it, his last adventure before he retires, and he believes that he's going to die. That they all are. Rose must have hidden the true importance of this adventure from the rest of his crew. He KNEW that it's very likely they are not coming back from it, he KNEW he is not actually retiring. So, the question is, did Rose truly meant to leave life at sea for his wife and children, or did he chose to retire cause he knew he was about to die and he needed an excuse, to tie all the loose ends before he goes without alarming anyone?
"Even so, freedom can look so different for the individual. Not every pirate’s gonna play fair. I’ve been prepping for this moment a long time. The day I’d be outmaneuvered."
Something happened to Rose before that. If you ask me, something must have been put on Rose. A spell? A deal perhaps? Something must have happened between Rose and Hendrix (I can't be sure it was him ofc, but I feel like it is pretty obvious at this point). The map he gave him was a final retirement gift. Whatever happened, Hendrix surely did or offered something that made Rose unable to refuse the last adventure. Rose was forced to open the Hole in the Sea. He was forced to attempt to free the Nameless Prince, and he knew, he is bringing his crew to possible death. He knew they may not make it out of the sea in time, before whatever he had to do takes effects, before the sea turns black. I don't believe he would do this if he could find another way. This line makes me feel like he was tricked, finally cornered by Hendrix. It would also make sense why Rose never listened to Finn's warnings when he told him abt Hendrix hiding his true arcane ability. It's possible he knew already. It's possible he was already chained by it.
"Now I fear, we’ll be remembered for something we didn’t do."
The hole in the sea. The one thing people always mention when Black Rose pirates are concerned. He was right. But it only proves, that Rose in this entire game was a tool. Just a person forced to do another's bidding, to be at the right place, at the right time. A sacrifice, but not a player. Niklaus told Chip it was Rose who opened the Hole in the Sea. And he was right, kinda. TECHNICALLY it was Rose. But he was not acting of his free will. He was forced to do it. And who made him? Well, probably the one person who knows that it was him.
"Anyways, I think I should have cared about how my friends would remember me. My family…"
A beautiful comparison between Chip and Rose. Rose sought fullfillment, legacy, Chip sought to recreate his childhood, but they both realised that what they always wanted in the end was family. Rose realized it too late, Chip did so on time. And he did manage to create a family he can feel content about, be proud of. Rose's story is a reminder for him, of how things could have ended.
"If my wife is still alive, tell her, tell our child, her child, I’m sorry."
Rose left Onowa knowing he will not retire. He knew he lied to his wife when he told her that he'll raise their child with her. Did he ever mean it? Did he know that he is doomed from the start, or was there a true intention of going back to her, before Hendrix came and his fate was sealed? Also, that makes me think that Reuben is not Rose's biological son. "OUR child" refers to the kid they had together, "HER child" might refer only to his wife's son, to Reuben. Still, he must have cared for him enough to decide that he also deserved apology.
"Thanks for coming to look for us. I knew you would.
Take care, Chip. "
I wonder if he actually knew. Could Hendrix promise him that Chip would be saved? He didn't seem to expect anyone else to make it, so it's possible that either Chip was supposed to play a special role in some way, or maybe he already did, or he was guaranteed to make it out alive regardless of the circumstances to make the journey he is on now. That could mean that Riptide Pirates were truly always destined to meet.
Okay, that will be most of my thoughts! Feel free to share yours!

Peppermint Tea 10
Late night post! Couldn't sleep! Have some tooth rotting fluff!

Tumblr media
The days dragged on, Mihawk actually busy for once with Navy orders to investigate a new emergence of rookie pirates at the edges of Doflamingo's territory. The world leaders knew that the pink moron would rather turn a blind eye to any criminal activity in his region.
Even with his experience with much of the Grand Line and the New World, it still took Dracule a few days past a month for him to even return back to Gloom Island. He found that he missed you terribly, to the point that even Perona had pointed out his less than stellar mood. Not that he was ever really expressive anyway. Mihawk ignored her questions as he packed his ship once more for another week of travel.
Perona floated after him, a scowl on her pretty face, “You just got back, and you're already leaving again? Why? What about me?”
Hawkeye rolled his eyes, “I have a life outside of this castle, Perona,” he groused out and carefully stacked the books he had mentally chosen on his way back to Gloom Island. Last time he had seen you, you were particularly interested in the Blues. One of the thick tomes he'd picked would be a perfect gift for you.
“You didn't three months ago,” She snapped back at him and crossed her arms in a pout. She hated being ignored! What was she supposed to do all alone in this dreary old castle? Zoro wasn't here to entertain her any longer.
Dracule sighs, sweeping his hand through his hair and leveling the ghost girl a look, “It's rude to dig into other people's business. So stay out of mine,” He points out and then closes the bag full of books. Another smaller satchel rests at his feet, though that one is full of small trinkets from his foray into the New World.
Usually, he strayed away from the market stalls and overpriced jewelry, but a small wind chime made of green sea glass had caught his eye. Dracule had paid for it without looking at the price and then continued on his way, unconsciously keeping a lookout for anything else that he thought you may like.
The warlord may or may not have ended up with a few more than he had even meant to buy, but Mihawk thought about the look of joy that would cross your face at his gifts, and pushed the thought of how many he'd gotten away.
“Well someone should be in your business! You've been so sneaky, Dracy! I want to know what you've been up to!” Perona demands again with a huff. She doesn't care that it's rude to butt into his business. He took care of her, let her stay on Gloom Island, and hadn't kicked her out like she knew he could. Perona would look after him, too!
“Give it up, Perona,” Dracule grumbled, tone final as he picked up both bags and slung them over his shoulder. He fixed his hat with his free hand and then marched out of his study without a word to the floating pink girl.
Mihawk wouldn't lie and say that he didn't feel at least the tiniest bit bad for lying to Perona. He did care for the girl, in a way like one would a stray cat. But she also had a big mouth, and Dracule had already slipped up once with Shanks. He couldn't do that again.
The ghost girl pouted behind him as she followed the warlord all the way outside and to his ship. A frown took over her face when she noticed that he was packed as if he would be gone for a while. The ship looked more crowded than usual, and she wondered what Mihawk had stored away.
“Well. How long will you be gone for?” Perona asks quietly and tries not to let it show how upset she actually was with Dracule leaving already.
The older man sighs, stepping off his ship to trudge back inside the castle, “I won't be leaving until tomorrow. The trip takes around a week. I plan to stay for at least four days and then a week trip back,” Dracule says and makes sure to keep everything as vague as possible. He glances at the young girl and rolls his eyes when she still looks upset.
“We will go shopping when I come back. Will that appease you?” Mihawk asks, and it's like a light switch.
Perona grins in excitement. Shopping with Mihawk means getting whatever she wants. The warlord had more than enough berri to spend.
“Fine! But I want to go to the best places, Mihawk! You owe me that,” She demands and crosses her arms in a huff, ready to argue her case if denied.
“As long as it keeps you quiet,” Dracule says instead, and Perona just sticks her nose up in the air again as she floats away to her room. This wasn't over! She would find out what had suddenly taken all of Mihawk's attention.
Dracule watches the pink girl leave with a fond sigh. He sits in his chair and reaches down to retrieve a bottle of wine from inside his desk. He pops it to let it air and then pours himself a careful glassful. Mihawk admires the red and thinks back on how this same brand of wine had stained your pretty lips.
Now alone, the warlord allows his mind to drift without worry, eyes closing as he thinks back to the last time he was with you. His overly romantic thoughts have him sneering at himself, as if he were some prince come to sweep you off your feet. Dracule sips his wine.
He likes to think that it's the other way around. For the most part, life had before a melancholy bore to Mihawk. Either following the government's orders to look for a good fight or nap the day away in his ship. Little caught and held his attention, but you? You are an entirely different story.
Mihawk had never met someone so sheltered, only knowing of the world through waterlogged books and from the kindness of any pirate that may have washed up on your beach. From what Dracule has gathered, he has been one of the very few who hasn't tried to kill you.
You were kind and intelligent. He loved the way that your eyes would light up whenever he spoke of what he knew, always excited to acquire more knowledge. Mihawk found that he wanted to teach to show you everything that he knew.
He frowns suddenly and thinks back to the rather innocent question that had made anger and panic race through him. You wanted to know about him, not his knowledge, and it made him antsy. You didn't deserve to know the hardships and pain that he has gone through to get to where he is today. You did not need to be aware of the atrocities that he has committed over the years. Dracule Mihawk is not a kind man, and his past certainly reflects it.
Mihawk would tell you more in time, but for now, Dracule wanted to be selfish. Wanted to hoard you away from the world and keep you safe like a dragon would its treasure. And maybe that is what you were to him. A pirate needed treasure, after all.
The warlord finishes his glass and then stands, intending to fix himself and his ward dinner. He would leave at first light tomorrow morning, not later than that.
~~~~~~~~~~
Hank whines at your feet, big puppy dog eyes catching your attention from where you sit slouched at your kitchen table. It's been a month and a half, and still, there has been no sign of Dracule. He had promised that he would be back, and the man didn't seem like the kind to break those, but it still made you worry for him.
Was he okay? Did whatever business he had to attend go bad? Did a seaking attack him and somehow get the better of him? You have no idea, and your chest hurts at all the horrible possibilities that could befall your friend.
Were you friends? Did that term apply to the two of you? The few romance books that you'd been able to cobble together didn't make it seem like the two of you were just friends. Was he your boyfriend? Partner? Lover? Again, another countless item that you did not know, however, you resolved to amend that when Dracule returned. Whenever that may be.
“I know, Buddy. I'm sorry that I'm being such a sad sap,” You lament to your pooch and lean down to give the shaggy dog a scratch under his chin.
Hank's woofs at, and you watch in suspicion when his ears suddenly snap back, and he wheels around to start barking at the front door. You frown as you get up and follow him, curious as to what got Hank's attention.
That frown turns upside down when the door opens, and Dracule Mihawk strides in like he owns the place. He sets down several bags and pats Hank's head with a soft smirk before the mutt’s attention is caught by something outside. He bounds away, leaving you and Mihawk staring at one another.
“Snow Angel,” He begins and takes a half step forward, but that's as far as he gets before you slam into him, Snow exploding around the two of you as you bury your face in his chest. You don't even care that his cross necklace is digging into your face.
“You're back,” you cry. And when did that start? Oh, we'll. You pull away and wipe your eyes, though you can't help the tremble in your bottom lip, “I was worried that something might have happened to you.”
Warm, calloused hands close around your freezing face, and Dracule leans in to rest his brow against your own. The feather on his hat tickles your face, but you ignore it, not taking your eyes away from the beautiful yellow ones that demand your attention.
“There is little out there that could truly hurt me, Dear one,” Mihawk says in such a sure tone that you have no choice but to believe him. He strokes your cheeks, wiping away your tears with a soft smile meant only for you, “Though I do appreciate the thought that you worried for me so.”
You sniff and send him a glare at his teasing. Damn this man and what he does to you. What you hardly understand.
“You're really that strong?” You find yourself asking him, and lean back to observe his chiseled physique and the sword on his back. A funny feeling shoots through your stomach when you lay eyes on the cross guard, and you frown at the negativity of the emotion.
You're so focused that you don't notice Dracule's hesitation, though you are quick to tune back in when he speaks.
“I am. One of my proudest titles is the Greatest Swordsman in the world,” Mihawk admits, and you can't help but think that this is an important event for him, and you delight in knowing that he was finally giving you a peek inside of who he really is.
“It sounds like you've worked very hard for it,” you say softly and reach up to cup his hands with your own, thumbs swiping gently over his knuckles.
“I did, still do. It is a title that I will happily defend,” Dracule murmurs and slips a hand free so that he can curl his arm around your waist. You shiver at the warmth he emits, and finally feel like you can breathe properly once again. Before you can comment further, Mihawk is twisting the two of you around and backing you up against the door, “Enough of that. Do kiss me, sweet thing. I have missed your taste.”
Your back hits the door, and then his lips are upon your, closing over your own in a heated exchange that has one of your hands sliding into his hair and pulling him closer. You kiss him back like your life depends on it, opening up for him when Mihawk's tongue licks the seam of your lips. A choked moan leaves your throat when that hot muscle sweeps inside and curls around your tongue.
Dracule slows, this kiss turning less frantic with need and more passionate, soft pecks of the lips that still leave your heart racing but in an entirely different way. He leaves one last lingering kiss to your cheek and then pulls away to tuck your head under his chin. You take advantage and cuddle close to him, arms dropping to wrap around his waist. You hum when his grip on you tightens.
“I missed you,” you murmur quietly, and Dracule kisses the top of your head.
“I know, dear. I longed for you as well,” he says, and your heart flutters at his words. Did he long for you? Did he pine like the men from your storybooks?
“Wh-What are we?” You ask before you can stop the damming words coming out of your mouth. You flush and bury your face in the crook of his neck, “I know that we're friends, right? But I don't think friends kiss and, um, touch the way we do.”
Dracule listens to you babble, finding it endearing that you wanted his opinion on this.
 “You can call what we have whatever you like,” He decides on and then catches your chin to lift your face and place a quick kiss to your lips, “But no matter what you choose, you are my treasure.”
You can't find any kind of words to say to that, so you just reach for him to pepper his face with kisses, giggling when his facial hair tickles your face. Mihawk allows your fun for a whole before he puts a stop to it by flicking you in the forehead.
“It's later than I intended to arrive, Darling,” Dracule scolds with a smirk and turns to the two of you around and gently pushes you to the kitchen, “You remember how I showed you to properly open a bottle of wine, right?”
You laugh and dance into the kitchen, gathering the glasses that he had brought from last time and showing him that you did remember his instructions. You haven't touched the dangerous red liquid since that night, but you know that Dracule enjoys having a glass or four in the evening.
The two of you settle in the living room afterwards, and Dracule sets his wine down long enough to retrieve the smaller bag. He opens it up, and you watch in growing panic as Mihawk pulls several boxes out of the drawstring. He hands over the largest of the parcels.
“Open them, please,” Dracule instructs, and you set your own mug away to carefully tug at the delicate purple ribbon that holds the box shut. A gasp leaves you when you take the lid off, and you reverently pull out the beautiful green sea glass and delicate metal tubes attached to the fishing line.
“What is it?” You ask and raise it up to better examine it in the setting sun that streams through your window. You gasp in delight when you hear the melodic echo at the slightest movement.
“A wind chime. We can hang it wherever the wind blows most,” Dracule suggests, and you nod eagerly as you set the chimes back inside the box for safekeeping. Miahwk takes it away only to replace it with another.
You end up with a fish bone comb that has been chiseled by masterful hands. A full sand dollar that you are extra careful with, and a large piece of red glass from a broken bottle that has been sanded and polished to a shine. Each item is handpicked just for you.
Dracule looks like a smug cat, lips tugged up in a smirk as he watches you reverently put away your gifts. You agree to hang up the wind chime in the morning and open his arms for you to fall into. You gladly do, holding Mihawk close and not ever wanting to let go.
It's quiet between two of you, a comfortable air that puts you at ease. At some point, Mihawk takes up the book, the one that you had read to him from, and begins to read. His soft timber is enough to send you into a light doze, and he slows to a stop, not wanting you to miss anything.
“Darling, if you are so tired, let's get you to bed, yes?” Mihawk murmurs and rolls his eyes when all you do is give a sleepy nod. He shifts forward and then stands with you in his arms, tracing the now familiar path back to your bedroom.
Dracule tucks you in, content to leave you for the night, but he doesn't get far before your pitiful voice rings out, “Stay here with me?”
The warlord is already sitting on the bed and tugging his boot off. You watch with squinted eyes as Mihawk reaches for his belt, sliding it out of the loops and sliding his pants off. You admire his lean form dressed only in black men's underwear. He is radiant, and it makes you a little nervous to have him so undressed and in your bed no less.
You toss back the blankets and Dracule slips in beside you. It's a little awkward at first, but then you can feel how much heat he is radiating and desperately wants to know how it feels to have so much of his exposed skin touching you. You roll over to face him, smiling in the dim light of the moon when you realize that he's been watching you the whole time.
“I know you're cold,” Mihawk whispers, and you can hear that knowing, teasing tone that you have missed so much. “Come here, Snow Angel.”
You don't have to be told twice, happily closing the distance and tossing your arm over his waist, head pillowed on his chest. You press your freezing feet against his legs and are treated with the rare sight of his eyes going wide and a hiss like a cat escaping his mouth.
You snicker and get pinched in the side for your trouble, but you can't bring yourself to care. This night couldn't get any better.
let's get out of here (m.s)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
matt sturniolo x f!reader
a/n: happy halloween 🎃 this was meant to be more Halloween related but ya'll it's 2am and i have work at 8 so you know. unedited since i literally wrote this in the span of 1 hour
this plot was given to me by @sturniolo04
summary: when you and matt end up on your own during a halloween party, leading you to end up going on a late drive and watching a movie
You wouldn't say you were having the time of your life on the dance floor, but being with your best friend was helping you to have a good time. The music blasted in the background as the two of you danced to your favorite song. You took a sip of the liquor in the red cup you were holding. You noticed a young man across the room watching you. He was with a small group of friends but seemed to be distracted from the conversation they were having. You smiled and gave him a friendly wave. He looked familiar, but you couldn’t figure out how you knew him. “I told you that you’d have fun,” your friend said, interrupting your thoughts.
“What Rebecca?” You asked. “Oh yeah. I am.”
“Ugh,” Rebecca sighed as the two of you made your way to a table in the living room. “I need another drink.”
You lifted up a bottle of tequila. “Shots or no?” you asked curiously.
Rebecca was about to reply when she spotted someone across the room. “Is that Chris?” she asked, drawing your attention to the young man wearing a bomber jacket with a baseball bat resting on his shoulders.
That’s why you recognized the other guy. He was one of the triplets that was always at these parties. You had talked to Matt once or twice, but he was the quiet one, and not much for small talk. “Yeah, that’s him,” you sighed. “Can we not deal with him tonight.”
You couldn’t stand watching Rebecca talk to Chris, knowing how toxic their relationship was. Rebecca glared at you before fixing her hair. “I promise. This won’t take long,” she said. “I just need to ask him something.”
“No. Please don’t leave me here. I didn’t want to come here anyway. Don’t make me be alone,” you pleaded.
“You’ll be fine,” Rebecca told you before walking over to the younger triplet.
You rolled your eyes as you looked around. “Great,” you muttered to yourself.
Parties weren’t your scene, but you enjoyed it as long as you weren’t left on your own. You made your way to the porch to see what everyone was up to. After greeting a few of your classmates, you decided to head back inside and get another drink. You paused when you noticed one of the triplets sitting quietly on the couch looking at his phone. You walked over and smiled. “Hello cowboy,” you said with a small grin. “Matt, right?”
The young man looked up and nodded. “Yeah…” he muttered. “Do I know you from somewhere?” he asked, taking a sip from the red cup in his hand.
You introduced yourself and sat down beside Matt. It was quiet for a moment before Matt looked at you, taking in the costume you were wearing. “Are you a pirates of the carribean fan?” he asked.
You were about to ask how he guessed, when you remembered what your costume was. You nodded. “My favorite series,” you replied. “What inspired the cowboy costume?”
Matt shrugged, looking down at his own costume. “Honestly, this is all I could come up with,” he replied.
“Well you look good,” You complimented.
Matt blushed slightly, looking at the ground. “My costume last year was better though.”
“Really?” You asked.
You had met him here last year, but you couldn’t remember what he’d been dressed as. Matt nodded. “Count Dracula,” he told you with a smile.
The two of you sat quietly for a couple more minutes as you took in the party scene before you. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. You would have been too if Rebecca hadn’t left you on your own, but you now were more interested in getting to know Matt better. You turned to Matt, noticing he still looked a little uncomfortable. “You want to get out of here?” You asked.
“Where would we go?” Matt asked, clearly eager for a reason to leave the party.
You thought for a moment before shrugging. “A drive around LA sounds nice. Not many people on the roads right now. Maybe something to eat.”
Matt stood up, offering his hand out to you. You accepted and smiled as he led you through the house, to the front door. You spotted Rebecca and Chris on the couch making out and rolled your eyes. You and Matt exchanged glances before making your way to his car.
*time skip *
“So what were your plans tonight?” Matt asked, taking a bite out of his burger. “If you hadn’t come to the party.”
“Watch scary movies and have some popcorn,” you replied. “Pretty lame I guess.”
Matt shook his head as he watched you for a moment. “Those were my plans too,” he said.
You smiled up at him. “What’s your favorite scary movie?” you asked, using your best ghostface impression.
“I know a lot of people don’t like it, but The Nun is one of my favorites,” Matt laughed. “I take it by the way you asked that question that the Scream franchise is one of your favorites?”
You nodded, as you looked out the window. “Not the entire franchise of course. I don’t know what the point of the fourth one was,” you told Matt. “Worst one in my opinion.”
“That was the one with the girl’s cousin or niece right?” Matt asked.
“Yeah,” You replied.
“Definitely the worst in the franchise then,” Matt agreed. “It’s the only one I haven’t rewatched,” Matt explained.
Matt rested against the headrest, staring out at the city in front of them. The view from this parking lot had always been his favorite. You looked up at him and noticed that he was glancing at you. “What are you thinking?” You asked.
“A movie doesn’t sound too bad,” he muttered. “We could go back to my place. Make some popcorn and watch some good halloween movies. I don’t know.”
You took his statement into consideration before agreeing. Neither of you wanted to go back to the party, and you clearly had the same taste in movies.
*time skip*
You were surprised when you saw the size of the house Matt shared with his brothers. You didn’t know what you expected, but it wasn’t this. Matt lead you up the stairs of the entryway, and into the living room. The two of you made your way into the kitchen, still debating what the best movie to watch would be as Matt looked for where they kept the popcorn. He held up two boxes as he turned to you. “What are we thinking? Caramel or salted?”
“Caramel of course,” you replied, earning a smile from him.
“I was hoping you would say that,” he said as he opened the box.
When the two of you had finished up in the kitchen, you got settled on the couch, turning on the tv. “I haven’t watched the newest Conjuring movie,” you blurted out, earning a raised eyebrow from Matt.
“Seriously? You have to watch it, if only to see how bad it is compared to the rest of the movies,” Matt insisted. “Only if you want to of course.”
“Well now I have to watch it so I can know what it is we don’t like about it,” You said with a smile. “Party doesn’t end for a couple of hours anyway, so they won’t be back for a while.”
A grin spread across Matt’s face as he clicked on the movie.
Chapter: 15
Title: Some extra help
Rating: M
Word Count: 3222
Warnings: None
Chapter Excerpt:
“I suppose It’d be best if I continued training the recruits then. Even if we don’t find ourselves in the middle of a fight right away, it’s always better to be prepared.” Mihawk says before he pauses and quietly adds, “When I’m not working with our men, I’ll help Buggy with organizing our upcoming trip.”
“Huh?” Crocodile and Buggy exclaim comically at the same time. Clearly they’re both confused by the fact that Mihawk just volunteered to help Buggy. Mihawk isn’t lazy, per se, he just can’t be bothered to do much of anything most of the time. Then again, he’s more like the silent knight of the group, so it’s never mattered if he didn’t plan things out or helped much. Even Buggy can tell that he’s here more or less to help fight.
Mihawk nods his head in response to the shocked reactions he received, “I’ll help out provided the work doesn’t become too troublesome. We wouldn’t want any more mishaps, would we?” He asks. Well, no… They wouldn’t, but still. Buggy didn’t expect any help, he expected Crocodile to just watch him like a hawk while he got everything ready for their trip to Prickly Pear Island instead, actually.
It’s kind of funny, but not in a ha-ha way, how eating, taking a bath, and having a goodnight’s rest can make one feel ten times better. Well, that, as well as a promised truce with two of the scariest men alive. Buggy’s still not sure whether or not he can trust Crocodile and Mihawk, but he’ll just have to wait and find out if they’re being genuine or not, won’t he?
God, if this is all just one long-winded trick, he swears he’ll have (another) breakdown.
He’s on his way to the meeting room, when suddenly one of his men stops him. Now, Buggy isn’t exactly thrilled about having to attend another one of Cross Guild’s meetings, especially after all this time, but he more or less has to go even though he’s dreading it, and he doesn’t want to be late for obvious reasons. However, his faithful lackey starts burning up his valuable time by rambling on and on about pointless things, but also sprinkling in praises for Buggy here and there.  Amongst his endless chatter, he says something that catches Buggy’s attention, though:
“Did you hear that Red-haired Shanks is going after the One Piece, Chairman Buggy?”
Shanks is going after the one piece…? Why now, he wonders. “Who the hell cares?!” Buggy asks, scoffing loudly. “It’s not like that idiot is actually going to find it and become king of the pirates.” But what if he does….? Buggy shakes the thought out of his head, and then gasps when he realizes he’s going to be late for his meeting if he doesn’t hurry the hell up. “Shit. I gotta go!” He says before hurrying on his way, waving to his confused subordinate as he flees the scene.
Cross Guild’s first official meeting in weeks starts off rather well, actually. Buggy manages to show up on time, despite waking up late and then getting pulled into a lengthy conversation with one of his men, but he’s still somehow the last one to the meeting. He thinks that Mihawk and Crocodile will give him shit for that fact alone, but they don’t…
Once Buggy takes his place at the meeting table, Crocodile stands from his seat and reads his notes from their last meeting, and Buggy’s kind of glad that he does that because he had forgotten all about their last meeting. There was something with an island…or something. He doesn’t remember.
“Now on to Prickly Pear Island.”
Oh, right, Crocodile wanted to seize power of a desert island. Jeez, Buggy still isn’t sure how he feels about Crocodile’s plans right now, but he supposes it doesn’t matter in the end. Crocodile will always do what he wants, and Buggy will have to accept that. It’s not like he’s the true leader of this group anyways.
Buggy tries to pay attention as best as he can, but he quickly grows weary from all of Crocodile’s talking. He has to admit that it’s rather impressive how dedicated Crocodile is to his craft and how much time and effort he’s put into planning the takeover of this particular desert kingdom, but everything is so boring…
A thirty-minute recap followed by Crocodile going on and on about ancient weapons leaves Buggy zoning out completely. He just can’t find a single thing to care about. Ancient weapons and a utopia, why would he care about any of those things? All he’s ever wanted in his life was treasure, not to run an army or go toe to toe with the world government. He glances over at Mihawk, who’s staring intently at Crocodile, but there’s no way he actually cares about Crocodile’s bullshit plans either. He’s probably learned how to sleep with his eyes open or something.
Almost instantly, Mihawk looks over at Buggy, startling said man. Buggy quickly averts his gaze to the front of the room, where Crocodile is giving his speech, and pretends that he’s actually paying attention to their meeting when he really couldn't care less.
Soon, Buggy finds himself daydreaming about the days of his youth again, and of his former crew. He doesn’t regret the path he took, but… Technically, Crocodile and Mihawk are part of his crew now, and they bring a weird seriousness that he isn’t used to. He’s used to life as a pirate being easy and carefree, like it was when he was a child or even before Cross Guild formed. Sure, there was the occasional tense moment here or there while out on the sea, but nothing like this.
Buggy glances at a nearby newspaper and spots a familiar face, then frowns. Seriously? You’re going after the one piece now, you dumbass? It really took you twenty-four years to realize you wanted to be king of the pirates? He thinks bitterly. And of course you’re going after it without me, aren’t you, Shanks? God, you’re so annoying.
If only Shanks had taken over for Roger like he was always supposed to. If only he had fought to stay together instead of letting Buggy leave… Then maybe Buggy wouldn’t be here with Mihawk and Crocodile. Buggy doesn’t understand how he went from being in a crew with his best friend and having the time of his life every day, to being in a crew with two men that he hates more than anything and constantly being miserable.
“Buggy.” Crocodile calls out, clicking his tongue. Buggy instantly snaps out of his thoughts the moment he hears Crocodile’s cold, deep voice calling him out. Crap, crap, crap. Crocodile caught him zoning out, and now he’s going to beat him up, isn’t he? Buggy knew that he couldn’t trust Crocodile, he fucking knew i–
“Take notes for us.” Crocodile orders with a sigh, putting a piece of paper and a pen in front of Buggy. Oh. Oh, fun… He thinks as he tries to get his head together and calm his nerves a little.
“Anyways, despite some inner turmoil amongst us three, Cross Guild is thriving.” Crocodile announces, which is something they all already knew. The government is weary of them, and they seem to gain dozens of new recruits every week, and Buggy doesn’t think any of that’ll change any time soon. “However… if Cross Guild is to continue to grow and be successful, we’ll need more money, a lot more money.”
“We’ll also need to increase Cross Guild’s power as well.” Mihawk adds as he speaks up for the first time since the meeting started.
Right, right. Money, lots of money and power, Buggy thinks as he listens to Crocodile mention how much money as well as men he expects that they’ll be able to rake in if they successfully take over Prickly Pear Island. He scribbles down Crocodile’s words messily, trying to keep up with Crocodile’s rambling.
Buggy briefly glances over at that same newspaper again. He feels a surge of bitterness swell up in his chests at that very moment as he looks at a picture of his supposed best friend on the front page of the newspaper. Why now? He thinks yet again. Why not when we were younger? You’re going after the one piece, and you didn’t even tell me… Does our friendship really mean that little to you?
“Anyways. The plan stays the same: We’re going to take a brief trip to check things out in person at Prickly pear island before we make any long term plans or try a full-blown take-over.” Crocodile states, “Buggy, I’ll leave the organizing to you.” He says, and Buggy’s honestly not at all surprised, but he does wonder what the other two will be doing.
“I suppose It’d be best if I continued training the recruits then. Even if we don’t find ourselves in the middle of a fight right away, it’s always better to be prepared.” Mihawk says before he pauses and quietly adds, “When I’m not working with our men, I’ll help Buggy with organizing our upcoming trip.”
“Huh?” Crocodile and Buggy exclaim comically at the same time. Clearly they’re both confused by the fact that Mihawk just volunteered to help Buggy. Mihawk isn’t lazy, per se, he just can’t be bothered to do much of anything most of the time. Then again, he’s more like the silent knight of the group, so it’s never mattered if he didn’t plan things out or helped much. Even Buggy can tell that he’s here more or less to help fight.
Mihawk nods his head in response to the shocked reactions he received, “I’ll help out provided the work doesn’t become too troublesome. We wouldn’t want any more mishaps, would we?” He asks. Well, no… They wouldn’t, but still. Buggy didn’t expect any help, he expected Crocodile to just watch him like a hawk while he got everything ready for their trip to Prickly Pear Island instead, actually.
“Hawkeye…” Buggy says slowly as he cautiously picks out his next words. “You… You don’t find the idea of helping me get the men, boats, and supplies ready rather…tedious?” He asks, hoping that Mihawk won’t somehow get angry at Buggy for questioning him.
Mihawk turns and looks at Buggy for a moment, “No. It’s really not much of a problem for me.” He insists, “In fact, I’ve been rather bored lately and need something to keep me entertained.” So, he wants to help Buggy prepare for their trip?
Buggy blinks, “Oh…Okay,..” He mutters, glancing at Crocodile quickly. He notices right away how Crocodile still seems so shocked about Mihawk’s proclamation. Crocodile looks like his eyes are going to go flying out of his skull, and it’s actually kind of funny, but then he quickly shakes his head, “Yeah, okay… That works for me,” He mutters. “I’ll continue to gather intel and…” He pauses and looks at Mihawk. “Are you…? Never mind. I’ll continue to gather intel and see if there are any people or specific places of interest we might need to look out for. Meeting dismissed.”
What another weird meeting, Buggy thinks as he gets up from his seat and then hands Crocodile the notes he took during the meeting before quickly scurrying away like a cockroach once the lights have been turned on.
Buggy’s surprised that Crocodile didn’t go through with his plan earlier. Sure, he was having problems with Mihawk and Buggy, but Buggy assumed Crocodile would get everything in order and then sail to Prickly pear island without the other two, but he didn’t for whatever reason. So, the responsibility of preparing the men, ships, and gathering supplies over the upcoming days or weeks falls on Buggy’s shoulders once again.
Buggy probably would have had this all done weeks ago if things between Cross Guild didn’t become so chaotic, but it is what it is. He mainly focuses on making sure everyone is up-to-date before he checks out their ships. Buggy heaves a sigh, he still doesn’t have as many ships as he used to or would like to. Most of their ships couldn’t be salvaged after the attack from the Marines, but… There’s still their mighty flagship, of course, but Buggy’s not sure what to do with it. Will Crocodile and Mihawk even step foot on this thing? He wonders with another sigh.
Buggy stands on the docks and in front of the massive circus themed vessel, wondering if it’s too late to have a new one designed and sent to the island, that way his men can’t mess up another ship and land him into some serious hot water. Just as he has that thought, though, he hears faint footsteps approaching him. He looks over his shoulder just in time to notice Mihawk approaching him. Oh, great, he was serious when he said he was going to help out… Buggy thinks.
“She’ll have to do,” Mihawk says, almost as if he can read Buggy’s mind. Can he? God, Buggy hopes Hawkeye can’t read his mind, or else that would be really awkward. “To be honest, I don’t even think we need a ship this big if Crocodile just wants to check out an island,” He adds, standing beside Buggy, “But I just know that Crocodile will want to ride in luxury, so she’ll have to do.” Yeah, Mihawk’s probably right, Buggy begrudgingly thinks.
“I also think it would be rather impractical to bring the whole island on what I assume will be a small trip,” Mihawk notes, “But traveling could be dangerous now that the government knows about Cross Guild. What we’ll do is split our men in half. Half will come with us and the other half will stay and guard the island, just in case.”
Buggy nods in response, but he secretly hates how he agrees with everything that Mihawk is saying, however he’s also glad to have Mihawk’s decisiveness while they get everything in order for their trip. “In the meantime, we’ll order more ships. I also assume that Crocodile is serious about taking over this island, so we better prepare ahead, that way he has nothing to complain about.”
“Yeah, that sounds good to me,” Buggy replies.
Mihawk places a gentle hand on Buggy’s shoulder, and Buggy freezes. A rush of shock, panic, adrenaline, and some other fourth thing washes over Buggy at that moment as he tries to figure out what the hell is going on. “Come on, let’s get to work,” Mihawk orders softly before he heads toward the island. Buggy stares at Mihawk’s broad shoulders and back for a moment, then quickly runs after the other man.
The two of them end up walking around the island as they try to figure out who they want to take along with them and who they want to leave behind. For once, Mihawk is the one who’s doing most of the talking, while Buggy listens and overthinks their earlier interaction. Mihawk’s touch was so random yet… gentle. Why’d he even touch him in the first place, was it some kind of weird mistake? How can it be a mistake, though?  Mihawk isn’t the touchy type… Is he?
Buggy tries to focus on the task at hand and figure out how they’ll divide their men for their upcoming mission. However, he can feel the ghost of Mihawk’s touch lingering on his shoulder, and it’s bothering him. He realizes that all Mihawk did was touch his shoulder, but this is a man who has only ever been aggressive with him. It was just a light touch and  it caught Buggy off guard, but he didn’t hate it, weirdly enough… He just thinks it’s weird coming from Mihawk.
Why is he even thinking about something so trivial?
After they decide who will go where, they head to the armory to count their weapons. It’s been a while since their last shipment of weapons came in, and they quickly realize that they’ll probably have to buy more weapons, since they’ve only gained more recruits over the last several weeks. Buggy still doesn’t like being in the armory while Mihawk is around, but he realizes that if MIhawk were going to go after him with any weapon, it’d probably be his own sword and not any of the ones surrounding them.
They quickly finish counting up all the weapons that they have stored in the armory and afterwards Mihawk glances over at Buggy, “I think we should order a couple dozen more swords, just in case. Maybe some guns as well.” He suggests. Buggy nods. This entire time, Buggy has remained completely cooperative. For once, he doesn't have any objections to what Mihawk is saying, so he mainly just nods and follows the other man's lead. Part of him wishes Mihawk would just take over completely, so Buggy can go be lazy, but he knows that's just wishful thinking.
A few minutes later, Mihawk gets up from where he’s sitting and stretches, “Alright, I think we can move on,” he says as he heads towards the door, “Good job.” He murmurs. His praise leaves Buggy scratching his head.
… Good Job?
Buggy gives Mihawk another confused look behind his back before he follows after him. Good job? He wonders why he got praised for such a trivial task, or in general. Buggy didn’t even really do anything, he just sat on the floor and counted weapons, but he doesn’t question anything. Still, Mihawk’s praise lingers at the back of his mind for just a moment too long.
Food and medicine comes next, and after a quick check of their food and medical supply, Mihawk and Buggy find themselves sitting next to each other in the cafeteria. It’s a bit weird, but Mihawk was the one who sat next to Buggy first. He tries not to think too much about it, after all, they’ll probably only be in this position for ten minutes tops while they make their shopping list.  That’s what he thinks, at least, until he realizes that they need more supplies than he thought. Not just for their trip but for the island in general.
Mihawk somehow remembers exactly what they need, even though there's a lot, and Buggy does his best to scribble down said items as quickly as possible, finding this one of the more boring tasks of the day. “That’s not how you spell ‘Mackerel’, Buggy,” Mihawk points out, and Buggy’s face flushes slightly.
“I know that!” Buggy insists, “... But how do you spell it?” he asks, turning to look at Mihawk. It’s then when he realizes just how close Mihawk is at that moment. Buggy could have sworn there was a good distance between them when they first sat down, but now Mihawk is close, unnecessarily close as he watches Buggy write.
Mihawk chuckles, which only adds to Buggy’s confusion, before he tells Buggy how to properly spell that pesky fish’s name. Buggy shakes his head and quickly writes down what Mihawk tells him before he goes back to writing their list, trying not to focus on how little personal space Mihawk is allowing him right now.
Buggy starts picking up on the smaller things, like how Mihawk’s voice is strangely soft while he speaks and how he’ll occasionally squeeze Buggy’s forearm when he realizes Buggy’s spelled something wrong or forgotten to add something to the list. He’ll also smile at Buggy any time Buggy looks at him, and it always makes Buggy look away quickly and think: ‘What the fuck?!’
Worse of all, Buggy realizes that he’s not exactly bothered by any of this like he should be. He’s weirdly nervous, actually. Not the type of nervous he usually is, though. Usually, when he’s around Mihawk or Crocodile he constantly feels like he might be on thin ice and moments away from being drop-kicked, but this is different. Extremely different.
“How about we have dinner together tonight?” Mihawk suddenly suggests, catching Buggy off guard, again. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?” Yeah, it has been but, their last dinner was… Well, it was pretty okay, all things considered. It still wasn’t the best dinner Buggy’s ever had, though. “We could have a nice quiet dinner in my tent like last time.”
“Will you be inviting Crocodile to join us?” Buggy asks, trying to act as nonchalant as possible.
Mihawk pauses before he finally gives Buggy a response, “No, I don’t think I will.”
Kid pulled at his hair as he paced, his red locks sticking up from how much he'd been yanking at them, the goggles that usually sat around his head now hanging around his neck. Heat and Wire watched him pace, not knowing what to say, but they felt the same troubles as he did. Nearby manic laughter rang out over the ship, accompanied by the sounds of wood cracking against wood.
“I don't know what to do anymore,” Kid nearly cried, “he's lost, I don't know how to help him. He won't eat, he won't sleep, he won't take his meds. He's still got her fucking blood on his hands. And I know she needs him, I know she does, but he won't fucking listen. It's like all he fucking cares about is the baby. But shes alive and needs him and he won't fucking listen to me”
“She's on the edge, I can see it in her eyes,” Heat sighed, “if we don't get him to see her soon, I'm afraid we'll lose her too. There's no way she's coming back to the ship after that if he won't even fucking look at her”
“He blames her for what happened,” Kid collapsed in a chair and held his head in his hands, “I told him it wasn't safe to have a kid on board, this is my fucking fault, it's my fucking dream that got their kid killed. He should be blaming me,” Kid slammed his fist against his chest to make his point.
“It's nobody's fault,” Wire added, “miscarriage is more common than people think, there's no way to say this wouldn't have just happened anyway.”
“Try telling him that,” Kid growled, “I don't know what to do anymore, short of locking him in the brig so he stops fucking shit up, there's nothing I can do”
Puru-puru-puru puru-puru-puru
The three of them looked at each other, confused, as the den-den mushi in the navigation room suddenly started to ring. Kid grumbled as he stood, grabbing the receiver probably a little too hard from the black and red snail. They were fucking busy who the fuck was calling this late, it was well past midnight at this point.
“The fuck you want?” Kid growled into the receiver.
“Eustass Kid?” A woman on the other voice asked nervously, the snail looking immensely uncomfortable.
“Yeah, what do you want?” He barked, “I ain't buying shit”
“This is Nurse Davina from the hospital on Beckton Island,” she squeaked, “we have you down as a next of kin for a Miss Val Yin?”
“Yeah, what happened?” Kid's voice turned to concern, there were very few reasons a hospital should be calling this late and none of them were good. “Is she okay?”
“Well you see sir, we just went to do her vitals, and her bed is empty,” she said anxiously, “our security cameras show her leaving the hospital in only her pyjamas about forty minutes ago”
“FORTY MINUTES AGO? WELL WHERE THE FUCK IS SHE?” Kid roared, making the snail cower. Heat and Wire were already on their feet, crowding around the snail with concern, trying to hear what it had to say.
“I'm sorry sir, we do not currently know,” she sighed, “the police are looking for her but this late at night nobody was out to see where she went. I'm so sorry sir, we're doing our best but according to protocol it was my duty to inform you. She left on her own accord but we are very worried about her current mental state”
“No fucking shit, dumb cunts, she just lost her fucking baby!” Kid yelled into the receiver, “Call off your useless dogs, we'll find her our damn selves”
He slammed the receiver down and turned back to the other two. Heat had already retrieved your vivre card and was tearing small pieces off.
“Don't wake anyone else, I don't want it getting out,” Kid sighed as he took a piece.
“It's windy out there so only look at the vivre when you have to,” Heat informed them as they headed out. Kid paused at Killer's door, wondering if he should tell him, but decided ultimately that it was a waste of time.
“What's your name?”
Your toes hung over the edge of the cliff, the deep breath you'd taken to prepare to jump suddenly released as you were spooked by the sudden presence of another. You turned and saw a ghost, blonde hair floating around her hollowed cheeks, clothes tattered and dirty, wobbling on her feet from exhaustion.
“Your name, sweetheart,” she asked again, taking a step forward. She cradled in her arms a small bundle, everything she had in the word, held safe and close to her chest.
“It's.. Yin,” you replied, your voice hoarse.
“Yin…” she stepped forward, standing beside you and peering down at the jagged rocks below. “I'm guessing you came here for the same reason as I did”
The bundle in her arms moved and let out a weak cry. “Hush, hush, we'll feel better soon,” she cooed.
Without thinking you grabbed her shirt and tore her away from the cliff edge, putting yourself between her and the water. “What the fuck are you doing?” You screamed.
“We're starving, we have nothing,” she explained, a tear falling from the sharp edge of her chin as she looked down at her weak baby. They couldn't have been more than a few months old. “My milk has gone dry, I have nowhere to go, nobody to turn to. Even selling my body isn't enough anymore, nobody wants to fuck a skeleton. She's so weak she can't even cry anymore. I can't watch her hurt, I can't watch my baby starve to death. So I'm going with her.”
She took a step forward and you grabbed the baby, making her scream as you fought her for it. You kicked her down as you won, and before she could get back up you lifted your shirt, yanking away the bindings over your chest and holding the baby to your breast. Emotional suffering be damned, you'd already killed one baby, you weren't going to watch another die. The baby didn't latch at first, too weak to register the breast, so you squeezed until a few drops fell on her lips, and she finally got the hint. You had no idea what you were doing, but thankfully the baby did, and she made small noises as she greedily suckled. You lowered yourself to the ground, sitting cross legged and rocking side to side as you watched the baby feed, tears rolling down your cheeks as you cooed to her.
“How?” the woman cried, “are you an angel?”
“No, I just…” you looked at her with weeping eyes, “I lost my baby a few days ago. I'm sure I can ask my captain to help you, we have plenty of gold, we can give you whatever you need. Just please don't… please don't hurt her”
“She's safe now, I can see that,” the woman smiled. “I'm so happy. You'll take care of her, won't you?”
“You're both going to be okay, I'll make sure of it,” you promised her.
“I know,” she smiled, then she took another step back. You hadn't even noticed she'd been backing up until it was too late, a tear rolling down her cheek as she smiled and let herself fall. You screamed and reached for her, but it was too late. The baby was none the wiser, still suckling from your breast, tucked safe against you as you looked over the edge of the cliff and saw her mother's battered body laying over the rocks, her limbs set in unnatural angles, the water lapping at her leaking blood. Her eyes were open and lifeless, but there was a smile on her face.
Without warning you were pulled away from the edge, strong arms wrapped around you and dragging you far from it.
“YIN, DON'T DO IT PLEASE,” Wire begged, kneeling in front of you, taking your head in his hands with a desperate expression on his face.
“She jumped, why did she do that?” You cried. He scanned your face, confusion written on his. “Her.. her baby, why did she do that? She was going to be okay! Wire!!! Why did she do that!!!” You were pulling at his shirt, making holes in the mesh with your nails as you yelled.
“Who?” He asked, and you pointed to the cliff. He stood cautiously and looked over the edge, seeing the body that lay lifeless at the bottom. The baby whined and wiggled under your shirt, seeking more milk. You lifted your shirt again, Wire looking away on instinct to respect your privacy till he realised what you were holding. You turned the baby and she latched to your other breast, letting out a sigh of relief as the pressure that had been building for days was finally released.
“Yin, why do you have a baby?” Wire asked nervously, kneeling in front of you.
“It was hers,” you sniffed, bridging on hyperventilation, “she said they were starving, they came here to jump. I couldn't just watch her kill her baby, so I took it, and before I knew what I was doing it was feeding. She smiled at me and jumped, Wire, she smiled, why did she do that? I told her we could help her!”
Heat and Kid appeared at the edge of the forest behind you, Wire looking at them with a defeated expression as they approached, letting out relieved breaths that he had you and you were alive. They had all been running the same direction, but Wire had the longest legs by far, so he had naturally gotten to you the quickest. Kid removed his coat as he approached and draped it over your shoulders, letting out an audible gasp as Wire stood and the light from the sunrise illuminated the bundle in your arms, still firmly latched to your breast. Kid looked to Wire for answers, and he nodded towards the cliff edge. He saw the body, and turned back to you with a scrupulous look, opening his mouth to say something before Wire stopped him.
“She didn't push her,” Wire sighed, “she was just trying to help but the woman jumped anyway”
Heat sat down beside you, wiping the tears from your face, helping you calm your breathing to a safe level. The anguish in your eyes was indescribable, but in that moment he thought maybe he saw a flicker of happiness too. The baby had fallen asleep in your arms, releasing your nipple, milk still dribbling from it, but for now she was sated. Kid made a little frustrated growl and dropped down next to you, looking at the contented baby as you pushed your shirt back down. “Does it have a dad or something?”
“She said they had nobody,” you explained, rocking back and forth a little to soothe the sleeping child, not that the milk drunk little lady needed it, it was more for your benefit. “Sounded like she's been roughing it on the street and selling herself, but she said her milk went dry. She said she didn't want to watch her baby slowly starve so she came here to end it quickly for both of them. I just… I don't understand why she still jumped, I told her we would help”
“If she said she had nobody, maybe she didn't think she could keep going either way,” Heat said softly. “But the better question is what were you doing here? You're supposed to be in the hospital”
“I couldn't stay there anymore with all those crying babies and happy families,” you sniffed, “I just… ran. I… couldn't do it anymore…”
“So fucking call us to pick you up, don't go and kill yourself!” Kid growled. You whimpered and he sighed, pulling you carefully into his lap, wrapping his coat firmly around you and the baby. The orange-pink sunrise made the red feathers look like fire engulfing you, but perhaps more in the way they would a phoenix as you found your new resolve.
“I'm keeping her,” you said sternly.
“I figured as much,” Kid admitted with a groan, “but what about Kil?”
“What about him?” You growled, “He only gave a shit about his baby, he couldn't care less about me or he would have had the fucking decently to at least look at me. He and I are over. We're done.”
“He'll get over it, he just needs time,” Kid pleaded, “he needs you”
“And where was he when I needed him?” You barked, climbing out of Kid's lap and standing tall. “Where was he when my insides were torn open, when I had to deliver my own dead baby, when Mohawk had to remove my womb so I wouldn't bleed to death, when Heat had to explain I'm barren? Where was he the last day I've spent in hospital, waiting for him to walk through the door, to hold me and kiss me and tell me he still loves me? Where was he Kid?”
“He's having an episode,” Kid stood and held his hands out to you, trying to get you to understand, “he's not well”
“Oh he's not well? Well shit, better drop everything!” You laughed sarcastically, “tell him to take his fucking meds, some of us have real problems that can't be fixed with a pill”
Kid growled a warning at you minimizing Killer's mental condition and you rolled your eyes at him, “Fuck off Kid, I don't give two shits how much furniture he breaks, he tore my fucking heart open again after he swore he would never hurt me again, after he swore he would be there for me. He shut me out, go crying to him. How many times does he have to hurt me before I'm allowed to feel angry in your books?”
You wobbled weakly on your legs and Heat scooped you up, not wanting to take any risks especially with the baby sleeping in your arms. He started to carry you away as Kid continued to shout at you.
“You've got another thing coming if you think I'm gonna support you or that baby on the ship!” He called, his fists balled tight. He was furious, and he never made smart choices when he was mad. “Stay on this fucking island for all I care! You're nothing but a worthless whore, nothing but a life ruiner! We were all perfectly happy before you came on board and fucked everything up!”
Heat stopped dead in his tracks and turned back to Kid, in a rare moment of rebellion from the usually loyal man. “She doesn't need you, or Killer, she has me,” he spat, “and I'll burn the whole fucking ship down before I let you touch her or her baby. You wanna get rid of her? You can say goodbye to me too then”
Kid's jaw was on the floor as Heat turned back to the small dirt trail that ran through the forest, and you sobbed in his arms as he carried you, stoic and silent the whole journey back to the ship. He placed you on your own bed first, packing a hurried duffle of whatever was left in your old room before you'd moved in with Killer, mostly things that hadn't fit you while you were pregnant. He slung the bag over his shoulder and carried you to his room to do the same, and without looking back he picked you up one last time and silently carried you down the gangplank. You caught sight of blond hair in the breeze as he carried you along the dock, Killer watching you from behind his mask, standing at the nose of the dinosaur skull. Heat paid him no mind, and you adjusted the blanket he'd wrapped you in, making sure Killer saw the baby on your chest and the cold anger on your face before Heat carried you away.
Nothing was open in the sleepy town as he walked through it, but he finally found a small inn and banged on the door. An annoyed innkeeper, woken from their sleep, looked at the three of you and sighed, he couldn't leave a woman and baby out on the street, not when the bright red sunrise signalled the oncoming storm. Red sky in morning, sailor's warning. Heat paid handsomely for the inconvenience, renting a crib from the owner, who thankfully had children of his own and was able to provide a few diapers and baby wipes to tide you through till the stores opened, even if they were a touch too big for the small baby.
While the crib was set up you unwrapped the baby, seeing for the first time just how poorly she looked, though her tummy was nice and round from the milk you'd provided. You did what you could to clean and redress her without stirring her from her deep sleep, placing her in the bare crib. You'd asked the innkeeper for blankets, but he assured you that babies were safer sleeping without, and had instead helped you swaddle the little one to keep her warm. There was a strange, awkward silence as he left, just you and Heat left in the room, sitting at the end of the bed side by side and staring at the sleeping baby, who you'd discovered upon unwrapping had a small tuft of blond hair.
“Why did you do that?” You asked softly.
“Do I need to say it?” He replied. You shook your head and took his hand. You knew why. Because he loved you, even though he still lacked the courage to say it out loud. His actions told you everything you needed to know.
“Do you think they'll leave?” You asked him.
“Nah,” he squeezed your hand, “logpose needed three days to reset. They'll cool down and beg us to come home, they care too much. And if they don't, fuck em, you're all I need”
You leaned your tired body against his side and let out a long sigh.
“Let's get you to bed, you must be exhausted,” he picked you up again and slid you under the covers before climbing in next to you. He held you gingerly, aware that you were still recovering and your breasts were tender. “No matter what, I'm here. For you, and the baby. If it's between Kid and you, I'm choosing you”
You sobbed at his reassurances, not once had Killer ever said he would choose you over Kid, in fact he'd always made it clear that Kid was his priority. Your heart swelled for Heat, whether it be genuine or saviour's complex you didn't care, you just knew you were finally falling for him. If only it'd happened months ago, if only you'd given yourself to him more fully, or if maybe he'd been trapped on the island with you. Things could have been so different. Your heart still felt like it was tearing apart, but under Heat's warm embrace you felt like in time it could melt back together.
“Does she have a name?” Heat asked when your crying finally calmed.
“Dawn,” you replied softly.
I want to be really real with you all because I’m well aware that the reason most people followed me between 2016 and 2019 was because of my Fantastic Beasts / Newtina fics, and because I need to get it off my chest anyway.
Tumblr media
(This is a screenshot of a post sent to me by one of my friends on Instagram, hence the language difference)
I’m not terribly shocked that it appears that we’ll never get another Fantastic Beasts film again. The last two underperformed considerably compared to the first film, and both were in general less well-received by both the critics and the general audience than the first film. While the third film was overall an improvement in many ways, it still wasn’t the same caliber as the first FB, let alone the eight Harry Potter movies before it.
I am in two minds about this: on the one hand, I completely agree that we need to stop giving that woman money - the money she gets from Harry Potter and the Wizarding World is funnelled directly from her bank account into anti-trans groups. I hope that if people really must watch the money grabbing TV show they’re planning, then they’ll at least pirate it so as to not give HBO or WB any views, but I’m sure people will watch it anyway because people are nostalgic and they value nostalgia over decency. JKR aside, however, it’s the sad truth that the second and third films were nowhere near the same level as the first for so many reasons - the writing quality went downhill, there were too many plots and characters, too much retconning etc.
All of this said, I have to admit that a part of me is disappointed by the news.
In late 2016 and throughout 2017-2018, FB was a HUGE part of my life; it was a comfort for me when my Nan died, writing the fanfics and posting about the film brought so many amazing people into my life, and for a long time it was an obsessive special interest of mine. I have FB and HP tattoos (my first five are all WW related as a matter of fact), I spent so much time watching the first film and writing fanfic and I even cosplayed as Tina. Despite the troubles within the fandom I later had, the first film was still a huge part of my early adult life.
I’m disappointed because while there was an air of finality to the third film (which I knew they’d do because they wanted to see how the third film performed before deciding whether to do more or to scrap it), there’s still so much that we were told we’d see and plot lines that were never fully realised: how Nagini went from CoG to being Voldemort’s snake, the Grindeldore battle of 1945, etc.
I am also tremendously disappointed that despite Newt being the lead and Tina being his love interest (and the knowledge that they were endgame), we never got to see their relationship play out beyond the fact they clearly liked each other. We got Jacob and Queenie’s wedding but not Newt and Tina’s - we never even saw Newtina kiss, and they were supposedly the main couple of the series. As someone whose blog used to be “newt-loves-tina” and who’s written about fifty Newtina fanfics over the years, I can’t hide that it disappoints me that we’ll never get to see them again, especially given Eddie and Katherine’s close friendship and chemistry.
Tumblr media
Part of the lack of Newtina is no doubt because of how dirty the second and third film did Tina/Katherine - you’ll never convince me that it’s a pure coincidence that JK went from “Tina is my girl” and shouting Katherine’s praises to reducing her role to a tiny cameo in SoD after Katherine publicly posted her support for trans people. Her slightly reduced role in the second film was more down to there being far too many characters and plot lines so NONE of the characters got the focus they needed, but the third film…that was definitely intentional. People have tried to blame Katherine getting COVID in March 2020 for it when the film didn’t start filming until September 2020, by which time both Jude and Katherine were doing press for The Third Day show and she was talking about her experience with COVID. The way Katherine refused to promote SoD (to the point of attending the London premiere to sign things for fans and hang out with Eddie, posting photos of herself at the premiere but NOT mentioning the film at any point or tagging it in her post whilst still tagging all of her stylists/make up people/brands) speaks for itself.
Tumblr media
I am upset because Tina was my favourite character when I watched the first film, so much so that I cut my hair into a bob, cosplayed as her, my first tattoo was her wand, I bought her locket, etc. I literally saw so much of myself in her that it was a little bizarre: the older sister whose younger sister is more bubbly/sociable/considered the pretty one and who baked/cooked, the shyness, the sense of duty, the willingness to break the rules if it went against her moral code… I saw a lot of myself in her, more than I did any other character, and I was so excited to see what happened with her character next.
Most importantly, however, I am upset because while JKR is a horrible human being who I despise with all my heart, we’ve lost positive autistic representation in Newt Scamander.
Tumblr media
I’ve spoken before about how finding out Newt was played by Eddie as autistic helped me come to terms with and feel proud of my own diagnosis between 2019 (when I first got referred) and 2022 (when I finally got my letter confirming the diagnosis). Seeing Newt be the hero and not be treated like a joke for being autistic meant (and still does mean) the world to me - and I know it meant so much to a lot of us who are on the spectrum who watched the film and saw ourselves in Newt, who saw ourselves be the hero for once. I remember going to see SoD on opening day with my sister and seeing a young boy on the row in front getting so excited at seeing Newt that he flapped his hands excitedly and bounced in his seat. I remember getting emotional when I noticed Newt stimming with his coat pocket multiple times. I still think about how I was lucky enough to thank Eddie in person for playing Newt as autistic.
It’s just another reason that I hate JKR - her bigotry (as well as the subpar writing in the second and third film) undeniably contributed to people boycotting the film, which has meant WB has discontinued it - and we will no longer see an autistic person as the hero. Her decision to go down the rabbit hole of transphobia (and a number of other different prejudices) is absolutely a contributing factor in the decision to cancel the series, and because that’s a reason more personal to me, I will always hate her.
(I already hate her anyway just for the fact she is in fact a despicable person)
Don’t know if you’re okay with alcohol (if not ignore this) but I rewatched Rock the Boat and I have Ideas about the bad kids being drunk. We see the bad kids drunk the first few times it happens, but after a while I think they settle into their drunk personas.
Riz distrusts alcohol generally. Anything that negatively affects his perception is a bad idea to him. However, the few times he has gotten drunk, he’s emotional. Think the Sophmore Shrimp Party x10. His emotions are locked right up to the moment he gets drunk. His size doesn’t help, since it means he gets drunk pretty easy compared to his friends.
Fig and Kristin are pretty similar, in that every idea sounds like a good idea. As long as their friends are still happy and no one’s died, they’re all in on everything. Fig has pretty high tolerance from parties on tour, and Kristin microdosed on alcohol all the time because she was convinced that a restricted childhood meant she’d be too much of a lightweight, but she holds her alcohol much better than most. Unfortunately, Kristine brand of chaos means she does not need to be that drunk in order to do many stupid things.
Adaine can not hold her alcohol. She gets tipsy on beer. Depending on who’s around, she either falls asleep immediately or become the most extroverted person imaginable. In the junior year parties, with lots of people she doesn’t know well, she’s loud and friendly and doing magic in every direction. If it’s just her friends on a hangout night, she’ll be asleep by 9. Either way, she wakes up late with an awful hangover.
Fabian doesn’t like drinking because of his mother, so he doesn’t drink often. When he does, Fabian is himself up to eleven. Dramatic, loud, friendly. Fabian once went to a nightclub and came out with twelve new friends and a broken nose. He’s got a decent tolerance, but it’s dropped since high school because he no longer parties every weekend. Miraculously, has pretty easy hangovers, but Fabian sleeps until 10am anyway, so it’s not like it’s useful to him.
Gorgug has high tolerance for a number of reasons. Orc’s have good alcohol tolerance anyway, and his body weight and height are useful. He doesn’t drink as much on tours as Fig, but still has fun. His parents made it clear that alcohol isn’t bad, just be careful. If he’s still sober enough, he keeps Fig and Kristin from falling out the window, and Fabian from getting punched. When he’s actually drunk, he’s just as likely to propose a stupid idea, but will also try to talk everyone out of it. Keeps pain meds in his room because he once woke up hungover and couldn’t get to the bathroom medicine cabinet and almost broke the wall down.
Riz went to the overthinker competition and they disqualified him because he made the other competitors cry when they realised they could never reach his level. Alcohol just... switches off the part of his brain keeping that train going and he turns into a mess. Mostly because his default method of dealing with his own issues is shoving them down as far as possible and burrying them under other thoughts so he doesnt have to deal with it.
Kristen and Fig are those people at a party that you have to supervise heavily even if there ISNT alcohol involved. Look away for a second and all your patio furniture is in the pool, your TV is suspended from the ceiling and someone dyed the cat a weird colour (and this is them SOBER). Alcohol takes their already poor impulse control out back and shoots it in the head.
Drunk Adaine is fun. She drops her inhibitions at the door and can 100% become the life of the party. She can only hold that energy for so long before needing to go take a nap though. Her friends have learned to make her take some painkillers and chug a couple bottles of water before letting her sleep properly just to help prevent the inevitable hangovers.
Fabian grew up with pirates, there's literally no way he could have avoided drinking completely with his father around so he started building a tolerence early. He does know when he has to stop though and usually never goes past 'pleasently tipsy'. He often acts more drunk than he actually is on purpose so he doesnt get called out on it. If he does get wasted he's one of those super friendly cuddly drunks.
Gorgug tries not to get drunk, even though his tolerence is so high. He's more liable to loose control of his emotions and worries he'll either do something stupid or get into a fight and hurt someone. He'll try to stay at the level where things are fun but he's never let himself become blackout drunk because he feels responsible for looking after other people. After the painkiller incident he makes sure to join Adaine in chugging water before going to bed.
