See "Katch" is probably the most reasonable option but it isn't ideal for me personally because it'd actually work for MULTIPLE characters you could feasibly pair with Match, and work BETTER for some of those characters, too! Needs me an option that is CLEARLY the clone boys. I mean, admittedly basically no one writes Match at all and if they pair him with anyone it almost always IS Kon, but that's not the point here, that doesn't satisfy my BRAIN correctly.

Matkon? Konmat?? Konmatch and Matchkon just feel too unbalanced to me, but maybe I'm just being picky at this point, lol. I think "Matkon" looks best to me so far though, maybe that'd be the one to just go with.

Honestly I know standard ship names in DC are usually stuff like Clois or Clex or Superbat or whatever and not cute lil' code names like Ineffable Husbands or Dead On Main, but "Kon" and "Match" just don't name-smash all that well and "Supermatch" is . . . I don't even know, frankly, and I need SOMETHING I can tag here!! Someone help me think up an appropriate pun about TTK or something, I don't know, hahaha. I'm SUFFERING.

I agree with you completely. I also think the team helming this thing aren’t very mature and they put their tantrums into whatever part they write, ignoring everything else. Like you can always tell when Hess is running things, Daemon all of sudden does things to paint him negative that he never did, or couldn’t have done in the books. And when Ryan is in charge all we get is Allicent propaganda throwing in Rhaenyra wherever he can to push that ridiculous fixation on them he has.

But both of them got so angry how much everyone loved Daemon. And they didn’t want us to or think we should. There’s interviews you can almost hear them pouting 😆 These people are supposed to be professionals and they are making their job personal when it definitely should not be.

The result is a mess and a whole season that Ryan says is Daemon atoning for the sins of his past. It’s all ridiculous. And I don’t even know what they are doing with Rhaenyra. Omg Blood and Cheese, their ineptitude is broadcast so loud in the decisions made for that.

It truly is a shame HOTD was not written by true professionals that are good at their job, and understand the responsibilities of it. The amazing writers we could have, and should have had.

Firstly, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me, anon! Thank you.

Secondly, this is nothing on you, anon, but I'm not really onboard with the fans' tendency to assume things of individual writers or paint them as dumb hacks who are outright disrespecting the source material. Fire and Blood isn't a sacred text and poor adaptations aren't a crime, so I try not to speak poorly of them as individuals and focus my criticism on the work itself. (And while I think HotD could have been better adapted, I still think it's good overall, especially in the realm of 90s fantasy lit adaptations *cough*Wheel of Time*cough*)

I've received a couple of messages like this one that have been even more accusatory (for a lack of a better word) towards HotD writers like Condal and Hess, and I've left those unpublished because I didn't want to give space to that kind of vitriol. I published this ask because anon here is tame in comparison and still had criticism grounded in the actual show. I know a lot of ire directed at the showrunners comes from things they said in supplementary interviews or their social media — stuff that I don't really read or seek out, so I don't really engage with discussions on the show's paratext. (Although I do see some of that in passing on my dash sometimes, it's mostly contextless snippets that are hard to comment on.)

Condal, Hess, Patel and whoever else are just one person in a massive crew. Cinematography, acting, directing, and even marketing all play a huge role in the final product. Yes, Condal is the showrunner who is ostensibly in charge of keeping everyone executing the same vision and for that, he deserves to be criticized if not everyone is on the same page. But I also don't know what external forces he's beholden to. Season 2 of HotD was filmed during the 2023 WGA Writers Strike, so that could very well have contributed to the lack of continuity and character cohesion that could have been ironed out by on-set writers.

I understand the fans' frustrations because I am MEGA frustrated a lot and the whingiest of whingers when it comes to HotD. But whether we think their work is good or not, the writers who worked on this are still true professionals in that this is their living. And prior the Writers Strike, they weren't even making a very good living out of it and had to fight to be involved during production. Before that, most shows would just have writers churn scripts pre-production and never involve them again.

Please, do criticize the show! Analyze the writing and pull it apart to your heart's content! Criticize Condal's adaptation choices and ability to run a show (without making assumptions about their person ofc because we don't know them). But also keep in mind that HotD is a huge collabarative work and writers make for easy scapegoats.

So, I have ask these questions (ask game) to quite a few people, but most of their unpopular media, at least I know one of them. Except yours (sorry). Can I ask what made you love these 3 media : Child of Light (Video Game), School - Live! (Anime), The Unlisted (TV Show)?

Also, it's okay to be an Oikawa fan (he is also in my top 3 fav Haikyuu characters). And yes, I agree with all you say about him as a character. Though, I pity him a little because in twitter he must be on the same list as any other anime antagonist/villains that are murderer or terrorist or worst 😑😶

Have you finished Haikyuu, Mania-sama? A bit spoiler : he became Argentinian citizen and at the end of manga, his team vs Japanese team (with Kageyama and Hinata). Oh and Iwaizumi became athletic trainer in Japanese team (ironic, right)....

Oh, can I ask what do you think of Oikawa/Ushijima and Oikawa/Kageyama ships?

Some say, Ushijima or Kenma or Miya twins are the best antagonist of Haikyuu. But come on, we know better, right 😆😄? (Along with the majority of Haikyuu fans)....

P.s Do you know why Furudate sensei don't draw Oikawa that many? Because "He is an ikemen (so handsome), that I have to make him look good in every panel (and that is hard)"...😉

No worries! That's why I listed them - I NEVER set people talk about those three online. EVER. I was not expecting for you to recognize them, or anyone to for that matter!

Child of Light -> Honestly, just an incredibly spectacular game. It takes about ten-twelve hours for a full playthrough without breaks, including side quests and messing with certain crystal combinations for upgrades. It's short, it's simple, it's sweet, but it is just. Beautiful. Very unique, and I haven't quite found a game like this since. One of the stand-out parts of this video game is that it is written entirely in verse. All of the character's sentences and words rhyme, aside from one character, Rubella, a jester, who consistently doesn't say the right word to make the rhyme complete or flow. The introduction of the game is also told in a soothing voice. The vibes are impeccable. Then, not to mention the visuals of this game are in a watercolor art style. It's just... unique and absolutely stunning to look at. The soundtrack is just banger after banger. I strongly encourage everyone to listen to it. Not that you have to intensely focus on the music, but just enjoy the atmosphere it brings. I was actually among the artists' top listeners on Spotify last year, and it was only from listening to the Child of Light soundtrack. The story itself is simple, but that doesn't mean it's not fun or impactful. You play as a little girl who has, well, died from illness, and wakes up on an altar in a "strange, new land" that has fallen to darkness. It is up to you to save the land of Lemuria from monsters and the evil, dark queen. The monsters are really fun to fight and look at (as in, their designs and the way they are drawn are phenomenal). The upgrade system isn't hard to grasp at all, either. You collect characters and help them in their stories. It's a fun, turn-based combat RPG. Everyone should play it, honestly. It's my favorite game. (Oh, yeah, you have a cute sidekick with a quick-wit, too).

School - Live! -> Okay, this anime isn't as phenomenal as Child of Light, but it sticks out in my mind anyway for the way it masterfully portrayed the world it's set in. It's about a group of girls who have a club at their school where they essentially live together at the school. Seems kind of odd, but they are happy with it and enjoy being each other's friends. Well. Turns out the main character is very, very delusional while trying to cope with the world around her. And the world around here is trapped in a zombie apocalypse. It's intriguing to me how her friends try to preserve her delusions (obviously a coping mechanism that I love seeing portrayed in media) while also keeping themselves alive. The narrative bounces back and forth between the main character's delusional reality where everything is normal to the bloody classrooms, reeking dead bodies, and boarded windows. The characters are all flawed individuals who, while being able to deal with the apocalypse, still struggle and flounder and yell and scream. It's just absolute whiplash tilting between these two realities, and it's done very well. Also, the intro song is a banger.

The Unlisted -> This TV show has more similarities to School - Live!, than it does to Child of Light, but is still pretty unique. It's about this organization that brings dental health to students in Australia, but in reality, they are chipping students in the mouth with trackers that can, essentially, brainwash and mind control the kids into mindless machines. The trackers also increase their strength and dexterity (I don't know how it works; some suspension of disbelief is required to enjoy this). The main characters, two twin brothers, find out what's going on in their school after one of the twins purposefully goes into the "dental checkup" twice in place of his brother. The main characters then find out about the existence of a group of runaway kids who are being tracked by the organization because they are all "Unlisted" - kids who were meant to be chipped, but somehow escaped - and conspire to both help the kids and inform the world about the truth of the organization. It's VERY entertaining. I fell in love with the characters and their relationships. The acting is... rough, especially in the beginning, but you get through it for the plot I swear. All of it pretty much hits my fancy; runaway kids, trauma and injury, mind control, funny banter, and family. I just. Really like it. And everyday I think: wow, what a shame this never got a second season. Because it is good and I love it :(. I've attempted to write this as an AU multiple times for different fandoms, but I never succeeded. Who knows, maybe one day I will.

Anyway, Oikawa being "the most evil anime villain" jokes will never not be funny to me. He is just so easy to pick on. I did see recently on Tiktok a video where they said off-handedly and in seriousness that Oikawa and Dazai Osamu from Bungou Stray Dogs were very similar, and I had to do a double-take. No. They are not similar. Not in the slightest. One has conspired to murder/has murdered HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE and is a LUNATIC. The other is a high schooler who plays fucking volleyball. Can we NOT. (It is really, really funny though. I hope the Internet never changes.)

I've considered rewatching the anime because of my recent sudden and violent re-hyperfixation, but I don't know if I'll ever get around to it. I have never actually read the manga for Haikyuu, but I do know about the time skip and how it ends. In fact, I've been writing a fanfiction about the IwaOi during the Japanese vs Argentina 2021 Olympic gold match (not rooted in reality, where Argentina received bronze and Japan came seventh in the actual 2020 Olympics). I hope to release it sometime soon. It's... interesting, I suppose. I'm up to my usual bullshit, and "usual bullshit" means that one character gets unreasonably hurt in some way. It brings me unparalleled happiness.

As far as OiUshi and OiKage, they aren't my favorite but I can certainly see the appeal. OiUshi less so - I think they have negative chemistry, but the idea of them being together is funny enough to be enjoyable for me. I have read one or two drabbles of them before. OiKage is a rather controversial ship, which I understand. I don't think it works well when they are high schoolers at all, but the idea of something shifting in their adulthood is a fascinating concept. I don't mind it, honestly. It would show a lot of character growth between the two characters both individually and together.

You know what I love about Hobie?

When he first popped up on screen and the whole 'She left her sweater at his place' thing went on I immediatelly thought 'Oh great, the love triangle, they did my bbies dirty!'

But then... It didn't happen...

Not only the characters are multi dimentional beyond a quick cashgrab of YA shitty, toxic romance, my boy Pavitr is the embodiment of the Hindu hero arquetipe (And a romantic at heart in a way that is ADORABLE) Miles and Gwen are trying to work things out because the multiverse apparently has nothing but tragedy in store for them if they get together

and Hobie is the punkest punk that has ever punked

In a lesser, more common production, Hobie would be the 'Macho, toxic love interest' that competes with Miles for every second of Gwen's attention, Gwen get swooned by him but then realizes that Hobie is not as good of a person as he claims to be and runs back to Nice, not like other guys Miles like a good, one faceted love interest, like, The multiverse could collapse on itself any second now but Gwen is stuck trying to decide which man she wants.

It didn't happen!!! 😆😆😆

Instead we get Gwen's conflict with her identity, her family the fact that SHE'S HOMELESS AND TRAPPED UNDER MIGUEL'S ORDERS OR SHE GETS THROWN INTO THE STREETS

And Hobie isn't there to just break rules bc he feels like it, he KNOWS the Spidersociety is full of bullshit and he barges in to save Gwen from an enviroment where she will be discarded THE MOMENT she messes up, he tries to save Miles all the trouble as well but Miles sadly had to see it through his own eyes, Hobie immediately places himself as a guardian/older brother that knows the system is broken and like hell he's gonna allow Miguel to swindle more teens under his iron fist of corporate exploitation and manipulation because that's what being punk means

The normal and supernatural worlds seem big, but when you look closely? They're really small. You'll find at least one person who knows their neighbor is from a huge dynasty. Well, this isn't any different in Mikhail's case.

There's something about him, however, that makes people cringe when they hear his name. Humans shy away from talking about him. Supers shudder when they hear mere details of his appearance somewhere. From the outside, he doesn't seem to be that intimidating, but when you look closer? 🤔

There's a lot to be afraid of.

Mikhail descends from Lin Mitsuhide's bloodline. Remember that Lin may be a fire witch, but she retained her psychic powers in their original form. She often mixes them with her elemental powers, resulting in some serious firepower...no pun intended 😆. As a result of this, her descendants inherited (and inherit, for that matter) varying aspects of psionic abilities. Mikhail's sister, Audrey, has the unique ability of pheromone manipulation. One breath is enough to sway an entire ballroom and no one would be the wiser. While it doesn't sound very psionic, she uses this ability to twist people's minds. Clever 😉.

And as you know or guessed, Mikhail has the ability to manipulate lustful feelings, but not just for the sake of sex. Lust clouds other emotions, including inhibitions, and Mikhail capitalises on this fact greatly. Get someone's heart racing, they'll tell you their deepest secrets. Secrets they wouldn't even mention to their parents or partners. They'll confide their fears, doubts, likes, dislikes. They will dance in the palm of your hand. All because you winked at them. That sweet word. That dashing smile. The subtle curve of the eyebrows, and it's all over. Just like that.

If that ain't reason to keep your guard up around someone, I don't know what is 😏.

So it's no wonder that Morgyn's neck hair was practically trying to jump out of his skin as Mik stood behind him. Morgyn remembered every detail of that creepy night. A shiver went down his back as he remembered the psionic bonds on his wrists. Since when did vampires gain that kind of ability 😯?

Morgyn felt as if a pair of iron hands gripped his skull and was pulling it from his body. Every nerve ending seared with white-hot pain. It felt as if Morgyn's very soul was on fire, and he couldn't do anything to extinguish it.

The corrupted essence flowed out of Morgyn into Mikhail. Along with it came several images of Olive's night with Morgyn; their water ritual, sleeping under the stars, her taking his power...and something else. Something that didn't make sense at all.

The silence after such a monumental energy transfer was never good. Morgyn took a gamble and slowly stood up to see what became of Mikhail. Seeing him still standing made Morg sigh with relief.

That was news to Morgyn as well, somehow. In all his years as a Sage, he didn't question his bloodline much. It was just 'follow orders like you normally would' kind of thing. The Ember bloodline is known to value loyalty, which can sometimes result in its members becoming mindless drones who just follow family tradition without question. Such a trait can have pretty damning consequences, like in Morgyn's case.

Morg: Vampires? Dude, you sure that thing ain't affecting you already? I'm a goddamn caster. I don't have any vampiric blood.

Mik: You say that, but you've never questioned your bloodline, have you? Every super questions their heritage one way or another. I did. My sister did. My cousin did. @diveintovortex Now that I think of it, from my non-Western upbringing, it was normal for us to come uninvited into a friend's house, or any person within one's social circles, but it was super annoying when complete strangers or unwanted guests did the same—people need to learn some basic manners. From my time in the city, it was slightly stricter: no strangers and you do lock the doors, but friends can come over unannounced, and you would open up for them. From my time in the countryside, it was normal to go onto someone's *land*, even as a stranger, and some gates would never be locked, too, but you'd still want to announce your presence and ask permission before coming into the *house*. Now living in the West, the law here is a lot more strict, and "trespassing" is not only applied to the house itself, but to the land as well. I suspect, this is where the Korean law might come from with it's "empty house" wording—it's ok to come in if whoever is inside is able to either consent to it or kick the guest out, but it's very suspicious to come into an empty house. @vindicated-truth It's funny 'cause thinking about it now, because my grandmother's house has a big yard, I'd often just see a car rolling inside the gate without any prior announcement 😆 I'd be like, "oh we have guests," and it's not a sight out of the ordinary 😆 I realize that the concept of "private property" is very much a modern one, an urban one, and also historically a colonial one. Before my country was colonized, the Philippines had a very tribal culture, which means everything communally belongs to everyone in the tribe. Please take this with a grain of salt as I'm not entirely knowlegeable of Korean laws either lol 😅 It's just the info I found when I looked it up, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the info I got was complete, or even updated, because I couldn't otherwise validate it lol 😆 But yeah, perhaps anyone who lives in or has lived in Korea or has better knowledge about Korean law can clarify better better for us lol @diveintovortex Okay, yeah, I agree with that, Dongsik doesn't close his gate, and that's interesting (although absolutely not weird, since it's just the gate). But do we have any canonical confirmation that he doesn't lock his *house*? There aren't many moments to deduce it from. There is that one "you promised" moment, when Dongsik tells Joowon off and goes inside, but the thing is Dongsik was at home when Joowon came (Dongsik was outside, but if he wasn't planning to leave, why would he lock the house?). In ep.2 when Dongsik finds Jeongje inside, the door isn't locked when he comes in, but it's unclear if it was *Dongsik* who left the house unlocked, or if it was *Jeongje* who unlocked the locked house. When Jihwa comes in with Jeongje, Dongsik is at home, so it's not weird at all that the door isn't locked (and they are friends, so it's not weird that they don't knock). When Jihoon comes in, again, Dongsik is at home—he's a *male* who is at home, why would he bother locking the door? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't think of any other instances. All in all, objectively, there is just not enough information to draw any conclusions. We simply don't know if he locks his house or not. For Minjeong, *objectively* it doesn't make sense for her to bring her keys to Seoul where she plans on partying—it's too easy to loose her keys, and her father is at home most of the time, and even if he's not, she can just call him. *Subjectively*, on the other hand, if we take her motivation into account, she wants to avoid her father at all costs, so having her own set of keys makes perfect sense. For Jung Cheolmun, well, yeah, objectively, police usually stays outside when they need to protect someone in their house. But here is a devastating thought: if only they damned the propriety and stationed one officer inside, he would be alive. Also, there is a chance Dongsik was looking for his sister in his garden specifically, and never thought about looking inside the house, because it doesn't come to his mind that Jinmook could or would do anything inside the house on his own—because while the gates might be open all the time, the house is mostly locked, unless Dongsik is at home. Even if Jinmook was basically a step-brother, he still needed a construction work excuse to hide Yuyeon's body there. (And I need to rethink that bit from my post about Dongsik keeping his spare keys at Jinmook's store, woopsie:)

Offering an Asian perspective as a Filipino:

I'm curious if it's the same in Korea, so if there is anyone here who lives in or has lived in Korea, please feel free to let me know too, but—

In the Philippines, especially in what is known as the "countryside", there isn't actually a strict concept of "private property".

Legally it exists of course, but in practice, people in the provinces and rural areas don't treat houses and properties as strictly "private", because everything is actually communal.

When I was a child growing up and we would often stay at my grandmother's house in Pangasinan, where my mother was originally from, it's not uncommon to have people freely coming and going inside my grandmother's property. There's no concept of a locked gate or locked doors, not even a concept of a doorbell or knocking on a door.

Neighbors and relatives would just come inside and announce that they're there—whether or not you're ready or open to have visitors. It's just a given that anyone can come inside the house at any time of the day. The idea of "trespassing" or "breaking and entering" isn't even a concept in the provinces because the gates and doors are always open to anyone who wants to come in.

In fact, it's not even uncommon to have uninvited guests suddenly show up at whatever event or party you're holding in your house. It's why, if you choose to have a party in the provinces, you better be ready with lots of food, because the whole town might show up, regardless of whether or not they're invited. It is not actually uncommon to see unfamiliar faces at your wedding reception for example, because it's just a given that anyone can just show up anytime.

And that is completely normal in our communities.

That was my childhood back then at least. I'm not sure if it's still the case now, as I haven't been back to the province in a long, long time.

The reason why I'm saying this—and why I'm curious to know if it's the same in the more rural areas of Korea—is that to be completely honest, I don't necessarily find it completely surprising to see people freely coming and going inside Dongsik's house, if I am to draw from my experiences growing up in the province.

I realize this because the idea of "breaking and entering" as fandom discussions about it are is more of an "urban" concept—for people living in the city—and at the same time, also very Western.

Asian communities are by nature culturally communal. Everything is shared, everything is open to everyone. And that includes your properties.

(I reiterate though that this is truer in the rural areas than the cities. Just like any other country, cities in the Philippines are stricter when it comes to security in private properties.)

I've never really thought about it before but I imagine the idea and concept must be foreign to people outside the Philippines. (Pun intended, lol)

But yeah. Considering Manyang is supposedly a small town in a more rural area, the concept of people coming and going freely in anyone's property might be more normal than you think, if the Asian culture is similar in Korea as it is in the Philippines.

After all, Dongsik never locks his gates, either.

Because it’s not only Joowon who freely comes and goes. Jeongje definitely does the same. And we also see Jihoon freely let himself in without having Dongsik open the gates or the door for him.

So yeah, here's an Asian perspective humbly offered 😆 Who knows, perhaps the reason why Dongsik isn't entirely surprised to see Joowon in his house(s), nor does he even mention it at all if it's illegal, is that perhaps culturally, it's a more common practice than one realizes 😉

I Am...

Obatala: King of the White Cloth. One of my most favorite Orishas. He brings me calm and balance along with resolve, strength, and wisdom. I need these things!

I guess I am considered an Elder now, in the magical community and in Witchcraft. One of my long time friends and a student of mine came to me in crisis today. He's in a bad situation and has come to me for a very serious reading. He actually woke me up with messages, and we haven't talked for a good year or more. He didn't know about my crazy intuitive skills. He will now!

Ppl don't know how my readings are done, so I'll share! For general channeling, I go to Rodolfo's shrine to talk to him. I wear designated jewelry only for channeling. Usually my smoky quartz bejewled with tanzanite and iolite. Or my extremely clear quartz. Here are my two necklaces:

I take my Kindle into the reading instead of writing with pen and paper because I can't read my Lithium induced chicken scratch. Lol! 😆 It works well though! I go into a trance, usually my incense helps this. I carefully choose a scent that represents my client. Scent is my induction into "Opening the Veil." In serious cases, I will actually open the veil with my Baston de Muerto. I think in my friends case, I will have to. He has very serious accusations against him. I'm probably doing this reading for free, but he usually insists on paying me. My friends always do. I feel that they deserve free readings just for being my friends! 😅.

While I'm in my trance, I intuitively "hear" or "feel" the answers to questions, or just get impressions and messages from Rodolfo or the clients muertos/ancestors, or any muerto around them - even unrelated. Like, for instance - my husband Tom and his brother Eric had a physical altercation five years ago and haven't spoken since.

Recently, Eric has tried a few times to reach Tom on the phone. Now, Eric is a major dick. He was the cause of the altercation. But I think he's really sorry. I've talked to Tom about reconciliation. Tom says, "Only for mom." Well, Tom's deceased father Mark, has come to me saying he "wants his boys together again." I don't know if Tom would believe me - I tried to tell him this once and he seemed to ignore or hush me. Mark really told me this. I saw him, the very handsome but shorter version of Tom. 😊 He just wants his boys to talk again. A really big reason is that Eric has MS. It is slowly deteriorating him. He's blind in one eye and isn't well in his brain.

Anyway...its sometimes distracting in real life having gifts like these. Like the other day, a Grubhub driver gave me my order and I felt her hand. I got a flash of intuition and heard: "I love this job. I can do my own thing and fuk strangers." That was weird! I get this a lot, its one reason I hate shaking hands. I've had this my whole life, just never paid no mind. Its turned out to be true in the past. and it scared me. I never, ever do hugs unless I trust someone first. Forget the European greeting too. Not happening.

My intuitiveness and empathy has gotten me in trouble. Tuning into men who were similar to me didn't work out until I met my Twin Flame Tom. My grandpa Ben and I were chatting last night, as I wanted to know more about traditional men. He handed knowledge to me but its hard stuff because its very old. Its not today's way of thinking. Mx Trae, I am a new follower and not much of any sort of practitioner or occultist. I would ask a question of you though. Iron is said to repel the Good Neighbors, does steel have a same or similar effect?

Let's start this out by saying I am not an expert on the Fae. Everything I've ever learned has been to avoid them, and barring that not piss them off.

So I genuinely have not looked into this.

I will say, while steel is made from mostly iron it isn't iron. You also have carbon in there as well as other elements (stainless steel for instance usually contains chromium). To understand whether steel has the same effect as iron on the Fae we'd need to know more about why iron itself has that supposed effect. Does the purity matter? Clearly it can't just be the existence of the element as there's iron found many places, so is the purity an issue? Is there a larger metaphysical issue at play we aren't touching? Does the iron itself have a say in any of this?

In any case, I have no intention of testing this out for myself. 😆

5) Do you prefer to read/write long fics or short fics?

- in terms of writing, I prefer to write long fics. I tent to lean towards doing the most approximately all of the time when I write, and it makes it very difficult for me to write short fics. And honestly I wish it didn't but long fics are the way for me baby.

- reading though, I think I tend to lean more toward short fics. If I'm just looking for something casually to get my fix, I find myself engaging with more short fics. But on the flip side, I write long fics so I love them, and if I come across one that piques my interest and really grabs me, then man I'm hooked and it will consume my life akskskk but generally speaking I find myself reading more short fics than long ones. I think because I have such a hard time writing them, I'm drawn more to shorter ones when I read. Or something like that I guess?

13) What are some of your writing/reading pet peeves?

- Y’know I haven't really thought about this all that much before. Of course the standard mixed up spellings of there/their/they're and your/you're because good lord people it's not that hard 😭

- I also fuckin hate the trope when like a character is captured and they make friends with the guard or whatever and they like turn good and shit ugh 😭 or when there's a fuckin self insert that's a bad guy but makes friends with the good guys and turns good no. No. I don't mind oc's, I've had some in fics, I mean Angel's Tears and OUAD have Fiona and her crew as minor antagonists, and OUAD and SBH have Mrs. Rhodes and Mrs. Princeton. But the thing is they're just kinda there. They don't overstep in their roles. And when I was like 12/13, I 100% wrote self inserts too because everybody does at some point in their lives and that's normal and fine, and they don't really bug me all that much. But let bad guys just be bad guys sometimes 😭 I want the actual characters to save each other and have that satisfying reunion 😭 Ireally don't know why that makes me so angry but it does aksksk

- oh boy this is such a loaded question akskks 😅 Now we all know I'm of the opinion that favorite and best are not inherently mutually exclusive, so this changes they way I think about it a bit.

- so in that event, I think I'd say my top 3 fics would be: Once Upon A Duelist, Sons of The Stars, and Salt In the Wound.

-If I had to explain why, well I think we might have another novel of an answer on our hands but I'll try to be brief 😅

- OUAD I've said before is my favorite fic I've ever written as it stands right now, and also just so happens to be the one I feel is my best. I think it has the most solid plot I've written in a long time, even if you ignore that it's a Sleeping Beauty adaptation so the plot was already there to begin with. But only with the basic plot line, everything I did to put my own spin on it worked really well, and it's the best executionl of a romance plot I've ever done aksksk 😅 and there's just some fuckin bangers of dialog and character interactions in it that make me giggle and kick my feet in the air like a school girl and also sob my eyes out.

- Also y'know, it gets bonus points for being a Sleeping Beauty adaptation which is my favorite movie of all time, and Aurora's my favorite princess and I've been in love with Phillip for as long as I've had conscious thought and memory so having Chazz and Atticus in their roles was the best ever 😭 plus Slade and Jagger actually die which is what I want for them. Perfection.

- Still really wanna do an OUAD 2 but really gotta clear some stuff from my WIP list first 😭😭😭

- Sons of The Stars, of course my 136k GX fantasyish au I built from the ground up. I'd love to say it's my magnum opus, but it really isn't. But I love it so much, it's very important to me. Ironically it is also the only fic I've done where Chazz and Atticus have 0 interaction because they're never in the same room at the same time. And when they are, they don't interact on screen 😭 of course I wrote it before I knew I shipped them but I digress.

- There's a lot of elements from season 3 in that fic where the plot is concerned honestly, Yubel wanting to combine all 12 dimensions which would destroy everything, Axel's entire storyline is a parallel of his arc in the survival duel arc, Jaden and Jesse being not at all straight, and so on. Honestly there's probably ploy holes and stuff and some stuff that's confusing that I don't explain well or whatever, but the general plot I think is so cool and interesting 😭

- Not my best execution of a romance plot but it also was the first time I actually tried to do that at all so I give myself a little grace for that. Also I did refer to Yubel as she/her throughout the fic like they do in the dub because that's what was just how I was introduced to that character and that became default in my brain. But eventually I will get around to going back and fixing that I promise I have so many fics to write right now 😭

- But also what I love about that fic is the wardrobe I designed for it it's so good 😭 I've shared drawings of that before for anybody reading this who hasn't seen those asksks and I did that just kinda for fun since I was in high school when I started planning and writing that fic and I just kinda started drafting up wardrobes in class instead of working 😅 but after designes and redesigns and all that I fuckin love the wardrobe for this fic and it was such a fuckin awesome creative outlet that I needed.

- also some of my best chapter titles are in the fic bro, like some of them are so fuckin good 😭 Skyfall, Secrets of Ages Past, Fragility of The Heart, Purity of The Heart, and Confessions of The Heart (the trinity as I affectionately call those chapters) among others. I'm not good at fic titles but dammit I'm good at chapter titles sometimes 😤

- and real quick before I move on, the entirety of Chazz and Alexis's relationship in this fic. She's all kinds of messed up emotionally in this and she's grown jaded and cold, and she hated him at the start. She hated him when they met when they were kids and she never let go of that or let him change in her mind all those years. But Jaden gets her to think that she's wrong, and when they meet him after they rescue him for Crowler, she accepts that she was wrong, but she's still cold to him. Alexis likes Chazz, not like likes him but she's endeared by him, but she doesn't like that she likes him and she ends up staying cold to him for a while. They argue like a married couple the whole time, and in Fragility of The Heart when she's overtaken by the influence of the darkness seeping out of the core of the 11th dimension because of Yubel, she's not in her right mind and she says a lot of harsh things and makes accusations she shouldn't be saying. And Chazz has to reveal to her the scars he's gotten from his brothers and brings her back down to earth and grounds her back into reality. He heard her crying to Atticus earlier in chapter 12 so he knows he's the only one who can get through to her then, and when he does she softens up on him from then on. And all of this ends up leading up to Alexis turning to Chazz to be her shoulder to cry on at the end of the penultimate chapter. The first of now 2 times they've had that FF7R Cloti moment.

I love the evolution of their relationship on her end especially, she grows the most throughout the entire story of everyone I think, and it just makes me feel good inside.

My aftermath to episode 95... I've ranted enough about this, but it's just such a cathartic fic for me. One of the free short fics I've been able to do, and I just love the actual writing. So much of it was stream of consciousness, and I cried a lot working on it. I'll come to Sy's defense at any time anywhere and against anyone. Especially his own brother. He's my favorite character, he's also me in more ways than I care to think about sometimes. I love that fic so much, but it's also really hard to read sometimes. I know I'll write things that hurt me more, I know I will. But right now that's the one that hurts me the most. After everything Zane did and how far he'd fallen, Syrus still cared about him. Syrus still loved him and wanted his brother's acceptance. And writing that just hurt my heart in an entirely different way than anything else I've done before. But the whole experience like I said was so cathartic and I needed it. So it's one of my favorites.

24) If I could tell my past self something before I posted my first fic, I think I'd have something to say at various points in time. Like my first grade school fic, middle school fic, and high school fic eras. Nothing from before high school exists anymore, but no matter what specifically I might think so say to each of those past mes, I think the same thing that would be said to all of them would be not to ever for a second forget to have fun. And to tell myself that you're gonna feel like a failure sometimes. Your stuff won't take off right away, you're gonna feel burnt out, you're gonna feel bad. But you're also gonna love it. You're gonna feel the best you've felt in your life when you write. And don't worry, there are gonna be people that love your work.

I'd tell myself to just sit back and enjoy it. It's all gonna be worth it. You're not wasting your time. You're only gonna get better. I won't say to change anything I've written, I'd let myself write the crap and the actual flops and things I'm embarrassed by how bad they were when I look back now. Because that's what led me here. That's how I learned. That was me being an authentic kid.

I'd tell past me to smile and be proud of herself.

I know right?! And in the book the recognition was almost automatic. Argos raised his ears back and wagged his tail as if his master was not gone for 20 years. It was as if he had gone for a walk and came back and Argos was like "hay welcome back! Let's play" attitude. As if Odysseus was never gone for Troy or took another 10 years to come back and even under the spell of a goddess and dressed in rugs. Argos just casually greeted him like he never left!

Awww girl 🫂 I can imagine. Is like losing family for real...it can never go away because you live with that little thing! I can imagine he must have been such a sweet doggo! 🐶

I know I love those ears and the nose! And the tail is also pretty unique as it is almost shaped like a curved sword which helps this little fellow run faster. He does seem indeed like a guy with so much attitude and the way he is so lean and muscular is also amazing. Perfect for the job indeed. In Greek we call this Ελληνικός Ιχνηλατης aka "Greek Tracker"

Oh yeah! 😭 it wouldn't be a hyperbole to say that this dog was indeed the protagonist of emotional damage in the Odyssey and with just a few lyrics of appwarance he left such an impact! For starters it begs the question why would Homer even feel the need to mention this dog? He was the absolute representative of loyalty in the story. In a way he is there to restore some of Odysseus's faith in loyalty. He starts with Eumeus himself and his son but Argos he is now certain loyalty exists he starts to comprehend. Perhaps he even gains some hope that Penelope is still waiting like Argos that they are both loving him still...

Oh yeah not be able to even show sadness for the poor dog definitely strikes too deep! 😢 and yes Argos only feels like his job is done that the master is back that he saw him one last time and he fell back and died...

Yeah Eumeus mentions how the dog later was trained to hunt and was so fast and agile and was hunting hares and wild goats with the hunting trips and all. Oh gosh that is a good point 😨 boy yeah I mean I am surprised how no more people talk about that! Me included! Man yeah they stopped taking care of him and all which would increase his rage for them indeed!

Yeah in a way Argos was always looking towards the entrance like he was crying at the beach on Ogygia staring at the sea and thinking where his home is...

Interestingly there is another dog by the name of Argos, a hellhound with 100 eyes who was assigned by Hera to guard Io the lover of Zeus whom Zeus transformed into a cow to averse Hera's suspicions. Zeus in order to save Io he sent Hermes to the spot and Hermes being the little bastard that he is, began talking to the dog and basically the dog died because of the psychological mind games Hermes did hahahaha well at least that is one version. Ironically again Hermes is Odysseus's great-grandfather hahahahaha 😆

Oh yeah for real seeing that dog so beaten up by time while he probably remembered a lively pup that was running around must have been so deep! And again parallel with himself as well. How he left Ithaca a younger man with fierce attitude only to come back beaten up, alone and a beggar in his own home after 20 years of hardship.

Greek harehounds are said to have average lifespan of 11-12 years so potentially poor Argos held onto dear life for double his life!

Yeah and Argos was there...he wasn't drowning or violently dying...he was sitting there...and he couldn't get close...he couldn't even touch him...but yeah that poor baby was just happy to see him...😭😭😭

Yeah because the mind doubts even if the heart knows but Argos had no doubt whatsoever.

Oh man for real he would he way over 100 in dog years and man poor baby did wait...a lot! And yeah Odysseus feeling guilty again for the circumstances and all but yeah he thought of it as logical that he wouldn't be there but he hoped till the last moment. And yeah I would assume that he would feel conflicted that he was spared the bad sight of death to the poor dog. But of course not actually seeing him again and have again no body to mourn still hurts deep

I was inspired by my grandmother's dog who loved munching dry apricots. That dog was also so clever ans when my grandmother died that poor old lady didn't take it and in a few days she also died...so in a way I wanted to memorize that here.😢❤️

Argos (a small analysis) + after note story

So we all know that Odysseus lost more than 600 of his shipmates in total (both at war but most of all to his fateful trip to return to Ithaca) but I believe we must talk more of one last loss Odysseus suffered and that was at his own home; the loss of probably his most loyal companion who recognized him unconditionally even under the spell of Athena; his loyal Dog Argos.

The Dog:

Argos was Odysseus's loyal hound. The dog has been identified by some other brilliant Tumblr writers such as @pelideswhore as a Greek/Hellenic Hare Hound:

A midium-sized ancient dog breed that has been used for millennias in Greece (and after the spread of hellenic culture by the colonies and Alexander the Great etc in most Balkans) as a hound and a tracking dog. These dogs are known for their exceeding loyalty, playful energetic temperament and unique personality.

In the Odyssey:

Argos appears only once in the Odyssey (Hom.17) and that is when Odysseus enters the gates of the palace he notices an old dog covered in flees and parasites at the gates of the palace. The recognition is mutual and immediate. Argos who waited for more than 20 years for his master who raised him from puppy no longer has the strength to move but slowly pushes his ears back and wags his tail softly. Odysseus on the other hand feels his eyes tear up and yet he has to wipe them and hide himself so Eymeus won't recognize him. He has to pretend again that he doesn't know and he has to walk past his most loyal friend. Argos on the other hand just leans back and dies on the spot for he has now the delight of seeing his master back home and now he can die in peace...

We get very little information on Argos story but we know that Odysseus raised him from pup but he didn't have much time to have joy with him ("ουδ' απόνητο" = he didn't use him, he didn't hunt with him) but Eumeus mentions how there was no quicker dog in hunting so in a way Argos at some point did hunt with the younger generation but eventually probably the dog grew older and more and more depressed. When Odysseus was pronounced dead by many the slave women neglected him and bore no respect for him anymore and so Argos withers away but keeps waiting for his master.

Interestingly the term of "use" here is απόνητο which seems to have the hidden essence of "pain" since πόνος stands for "pain" in Greek. So in a way the ουδ' απόνητο might as well have the hidden meaning "not without pain". In a way the dog is not without pain if anything his pain seems to reflect his master.

The name:

In regards to the name "Argos" stands for "swift" or "quick" in homeric Greek (which could be indicative on the dog's speed) but as some people tend to suggest in their headcannons it seems to be an indirect mention of "Argo" the legendary ship that went for the Golden Fleece. Odysseus is linked to the ship in more than one way;

According to some versions, his father Laërtes was one of the men who took part to the legendary quest as an Argonaut

One other member of the Argonauts was the legendary Heracles who, according to some myths, was linked to his grandfather, Autolycus who taught him how to wrestle.

Quite frankly both versions seem possible or if anything they are not mutually exclusive. Maybe the dog's swiftness was also a reason for Odysseus to link him to that ship.

The tragic importance of Argos:

The scene is probably the last death linked to Odysseus and the last death to affect him. Argos is also the first actual living proof that Odysseus gets for the consequences of the passage of time in such a brutal way. Yes he did see Eumeus and heard his tragic story but Argos is basically giving Odysseus the perspective of time; for him 20 years were a lifetime but for his dog it was double as such.

Odysseus faced someone who by perspective endured longer than what he did.

The death is also the slowest and most tragic he had to face; his comrades died violently and swiftly. Argos was there. Odysseus had the chance to say goodbye at least to ONE FRIEND before death and at that moment he was unable to. He had to pretend he didn't know him and he could not say goodbye to him. And yet Argos DIDN'T CARE!

To Argos it didn't matter that Odysseus had to pretend he didn't know him. He was unconditionally happy to see him again, so much that he totally just finally allowed himself to die after finishing his duty and greeting his master back home.

The ending of his life is also described abruptly and simply by Homer

"But alas, Argos received the fate of black death the moment he saw Odysseus upon the 20th year" aka "Death claimed Argos the moment he saw Odysseus again after 20 years). In a way the dog's death is the opposite of his life (his life was long and tormented but his end was swift, simple, happy and sweet)

Argos is an excellent parallel with Telemachus too in order to show how the heart is the one who recognized Odysseus and not eyes or mind. Argos knew Odysseus more than Telemachus due to the fact that he was raised by him but Argos didn't spend so much time with him either and yet he recognized him and welcomed him even under the disguise. Telemachus's first instict was that his brain doubted when he saw his father without a disguise before he was convinced. Argos knew...he always knew.

Odysseus was recognized for the last time by someone else before entering the palace as a beggar aka as a nobody again as someone without identity until he was recognized again by his old nurse.

Argos is in a way a parallel to Anticlea. Anticlea withered and died by waiting. Argos seemed to have gained strength by hope to see his master again for he endured for a life that was already almost double than most dogs and also this death Odysseus was on time to witness. Unlike Anticlea who died before Odysseus could be there in her final moments, he was there for Argos

Argos is yet another death that Odysseus was not allowed by circumstances to mourn.

A tribute to Argos

Odysseus walked slowly outside the door of the palace. After the day he finally spent to his home and the preparation of everything to visit his old father Laërtes, he knew there was something else he had to do...something he believed he owed to a friend. His heart clenched as he walked out of the walls. His sad smile failed. There was nothing there.

That spot he was staring now was the last resting place of one of his friends he never thought to see again; his loyal Argos. Argos had waited for him for two decades; more than double his lifetime and Odysseus couldn't even hug him one last time; If only he could! Even if he was covered in flees. Even if the dog was in terrible condition...he deserved it. And yet he couldn't.

However now there was nothing there.

Odysseus sighed. He had expected that. He had spent at least two days in the palace before he got his revenge. Who would have left a dead dog out there for so long? Odysseus was prepared to face the terrible sight of a corpse full of maggots and flies but apparently he was spared that last horror. He was both sad and grateful for that.

He fell to his knees and touched the spot where the loyal dog met his end and finally he let his tears fall for one last time for real this time.

"Forgive me, boy..." he whispered, "you waited so long..."

He wiped away his tears and forced a sad smile on his lips.

"We could have done so much together, my friend...alas fate had other plans... Perhaps we will get our chance in another life...maybe we can hunt together in the underworld..."

He placed a small lily flower and an olive branch from the tree in his room to the spot. He then left there a dried apricot; it was Argos's favorite snack he remembered.

"Forgive me my boy...you will have to wait for a bit longer...perhaps... Perhaps I will see you waiting for me when Argophontes brings me down the bitter river as a dead soul..."

He heard someone calling him. Yes, it was about time to go and pay his respects to the last person waiting for him...

He stood back to his feet

He slowly walked away.
