So earlier today this happened. 10gigs of recorded sets I never had. #BASSMiNTSESSiONS Style. Back in the day I was never a fan of recording. I was always taking chances with music and mistakes happen, but we quickly realized these were the training grounds. We let go of fear and opened the doors. It was about experimenting and creating on the fly. Pushing my own capabilities giving me the knowledge of “music science” I had a small cd recorder that would print in real time to cd and would record parts of sets and hand them out on the spot. Never uploading for storage. A beat up Denon dual deck, (2) mk1210’s and efx 500. The rest is Bassmint Sessions history. I owe everything to the clubs I had the privilege of playing hours in at a young age but more importantly Those 4 walls on 77th st allowed me to flex beyond fear and imbed that jenesequa. So back in the day we had a vibe going that was dubbed #bassmintsessions. What started as the after party from a night out led us to bring that feeling to NYC nightclubs. We had the opportunity to showcase throughout a majority of the nightclubs which ultimately landed us a call for a residency @pachanyc #lowerlevel every week (fri&sat) for 4+years. Although this residency was in the lower level, it allowed me to play longer, harder and different than my peers. I didn’t know then but it’s Something I’ll always cherish. (Thanks Rob ❤️) Since, we have all grown up - we have careers, married and some of us have kids. Today I will be streaming a classics set live and hope to bring you some positive memories during these troubled times.
