Welcome Home Theory: Why Sally Does Not Like Eddie

I want to discuss why I think Sally does not like Eddie/isn’t friendly with him. I think Playfellow had intended to make Sally and Eddie a couple in the show. Just like how Julie and Frank are being misread intentionally as a straight couple, Playfellow’s goal with Eddie and Sally was to have them connect just enough that straightness could be assumed.

Sally knows that she is being pressured into an unwanted relationship with Eddie, thus she is intentionally making their relationship as distant as possible. We know she knows this agenda because Sally was the one to point out that Julie and Frank made a good couple. She did this to protect them.

You see, Frank and Julie are close friends on and off camera, so Playfellow presenting them as a straight couple would be extremely easy. Sally wants to protect their friendship, and she knows that the only way to do that is to lean into the lie.

In theory, Eddie and Sally should be friends at least. He obviously enjoys theater, prop making, and make up, all of which you’d assume Sally would love about him. But she keeps him at arm’s length. Why? Because she knows that any positive relationship between him and her would be twisted into them being a couple. I think Eddie is oblivious to this. He may only understand that he and Frank must remain distant when being watched, but Sally would have no reason to explain to Eddie why she doesn’t interact with him.

THERE WAS A NEW WELCOME HOME UPDATE IT WAS SMALL but still so perfectly creepy. I like the last image in the story book and how there's no more audio to accompany it, you just have to read the rest of the story yourself and come to your own conclusions without the cheery tone of the characters to tell you how to really feel about what happened.

The very last image in the update is just downright chilling when you really think about it. The other characters are happy about what happened and Wally even says everything is as it should be now...

There's a lot of odd mentions of horror stories that aren't exactly child friendly in this story as well and I wanna write a longer post about the stories referenced later, but just know this single image of Poppy's house "Amantillado" style really creeped me out, possibly bc it's so simple but the silence of the rest of the video implies that you're supposed to think really hard about this story T_T

It seems like Eddie and Sally SHOULD be really good friends! They have so many similar interests, and Eddie is so friendly with Sally. So why is she so rude to him? He’s the only neighbor she hasn’t elongated the name of, let alone said his proper name to begin with! What does Sally not like about the mailman…?

With the new audio I'm begging people to remember that Sally gives everyone fake longer 'fancier' names and none of those are canon their names are exactly what is on their profiles

Some interesting things to note about the Halloween Update:

The News Section talking to the Staffer openly. It seems the Staffer has been ripping pages out of the cookbook and they're still dealing with having to clean all of that weird black goo off of the items they recover.

They have something big planned for Christmas it seems which I'm personally excited for! I guess they found something really cool for the holiday season associated with Welcome Home.

They said "Don't forget to wave down below" instead of "Don't forget to wave up high". We also now know from the storybook audio that the phrase "Don't forget to wave up high" is a catchphrase for the storybook audio's or tv show itself. So it makes you wonder why they said this instead of the usual catchphrase. Was it a mistake, were they being a little goofy because it's Halloween? Who knows.

Sally's Story is a little suspicious and strange. The Audio is clear on OUR end, but the WHRP couldn't make out what she was talking about apparently. Also the phrase "Searching for" is repeated multiple times.

Eddie being 100% invested in all the scary stories gives me life, and Frank cheering Wally's not-so-scary-story along is just as endearing.

It's really giving big brothers (or fathers???/???///???) who will listen no matter how mundane the story
