Enstars Japanese Support Ticket - Walkthrough & Example Template

The recent AKATSUKI event has made many egregiously bad and offensive choices regarding the unit and Ibuki (long story short - he joined them, effectively destroying AKATSUKI's buildup & writing, AND japanizing a proudly Ryukyuan idol. Please check (but do not overwhelm) @/gitsunegal on twt for more threads and details regarding this), earning the justified ire of fans of all units and languages.

One way of effectively utilizing your anger productively is to send a support ticket to Happy Elements, explaining your dissatisfaction with these decisions and urging them to reconsider. This shows them that fans are not happy with this decision, and (more importantly, to most companies) that they stand to lose profits for this choice.

Therefore, I have created this guide for sending the support email to them, as well as provided a template email in Japanese & English that you can use, which was very graciously proofread by a kind fan on twt. You can also send them your own inquiry in English, or also send an inquiry through the English website (the more, the better!). They will read it, and it does hold weight, even if you may not get a reply from the Japanese side of things!

Walkthrough + Template under the cut!

Firstly, go to https://www.happyelements.co.jp/contact/form_guide/. The page should initially look like the one below (desktop).

This is the section of the official Happy Elements website where contact inquiry links are. In order to more easily navigate this page, I highly recommend that you use a built-in translator tool to translate the webpage in real time (example below).

Scroll down until you hit the Ensemble Stars section (below, translated).

You can choose either Basic or Music to send an inquiry to - the process is the same (I suggest one to both, if you can). That will then lead you to this screen (below, translated).

Click the little box next to "agree" at the bottom of the page. That will then cause a drop down menu to appear at the top of the virtual paper. Click the last drop-down menu option - Opinions, requests, and feeback (below, translated).

By selecting this option, you will automatically be directed to the actual inquiry form (below, translated).

From there, fill out the form. Put your email in the example box (I recommend using the same email as your JPstars account - if you don't have one, simply use whichever). Either keep the "-" in the optional reply box, or select "not desired", if you don't want a reply from support. In your inquiry box, you can either put your own inquiry fed through a translation machine (I recommend DeepL, and having a Japanese speaker look it over before sending if possible - be short, blunt, and professional!), or use the template inquiry I provide at the end of this post, which you can edit as you see fit! Creating your own inquiry in English is also an option, though you are more likely to get a reply through the English Happy Elements website (example inquiry below, translated page).

Make sure to click the box next to "agree" at the bottom of the page. Then, click send, and you're done!

Translation of Template Email:

"Hello.

I am writing to inform you that I disagree with the decision to have Ibuki join AKATSUKI. I am very upset that this choice was made, and will not continue to support Ensemble Stars unless it is changed. It is disappointing to fans of AKATSUKI. It is also very insensitive and disrespectful to the Okinawan people. I love Ensemble Stars, AKATSUKI, and Ibuki, and am heartbroken by this story. I hope the management will seriously consider my inquiry.

Thank you very much."

Other things you can mention:

Go into more detail about how offensive it is for Ibuki to join a Japanese unit, given his identity as an indigenous character.

Reiterate how much AKATSUKI's writing has emphasized that the unit is the three of them (I suspect this one won't receive much attention though, considering the story basically mocks the line of thinking :/)

Mention how much you spend on the game, and how much they would be losing. Especially effective if you spend a lot on an account linked to your inquiry email, and if you actually boycott (no playing or spending).

If you're a producer of Knights, Switch, Eden, or Valkyrie (units who have not had their center this rotation), you can say that you have decided not to tier or play for them now. Especially effective because three out of the four are big moneymakers (Knights being the biggest in the game), they're already on thin ice with Sora fans after VS GLADIATOR, and it's been several months since a lot of their producers have spent money tiering (17, in Valkyrie's case).

Really, anything you can do to get it through their heads is great, especially if you follow through and don't spend money or play the game for this time period.

For me, the one good thing to come out of this disaster was the support and solidarity I saw within the fandom, and while I may personally be stepping back from Enstars, I hope to encourage that energy how I can on my end.

What an AI generated website can look like

Hey folks! I just encountered a website that's obviously AI generated, so I figured I'd use it as an example to help you spot websites that might be AI generated content farms!

First, the website is called faunafacts.com. And one of the first things that sticks out to me is how low-effort the logo is:

Regardless of whether a website is AI generated or not, a lazy and low-quality logo is a big clue that the website's content will also be lazy and low-quality.

If we click on Browse Animals, we see four options: Cows, Wolves, Bears, and Snakes.

Let's click Wolves.

The first thing I want you to notice is the lack of topical focus. Sure, it's all about wolves, but the content on them is all over the place. We have content on wolf hunting, a page on animals that resemble wolves, pages that explain the alleged social structure of wolves, and pages on wolf symbolism.

A website with content created by real people isn't going to be all over the place like this. It would be created with more of a focus in mind, like animal biology and behavior. The whole spiritual symbol thing here mixed with supposed biological and behavioral information is weird.

The next thing I want you to notice are the links to pages on topics that are quite frankly bizarre: "Wolf vs Mastiff: Things You Need To Know" and "Can You Ride A Wolf? (No, Because...)" Who is even looking for this kind of information in large enough numbers that it needs a dedicated page?

Then of course, there's the fact that they're repeating the debunked wolf hierarchy stuff, which anyone who actually knew anything about wolves at this point wouldn't post.

Now let's look at what's on one of the actual pages. We'll check out the wolves vs. mastiff page, and we can soon find a telltale sign of AI: rambling off topic to talk about something completely unrelated.

Both animals are carnivores. In the wild, wolves hunt large animals like bison, deer, and even elk. Sometimes, they may also hunt small mammals like the beaver.

Mastiffs, on the other hand, are mainly fed with dog food. As a dog, a mastiff left in the wild will eat anything. However, it will have difficulties hunting, as this instinct may have already departed the dogs of today.

A mastiff is not an obligate carnivore. Dogs can eat plant matter. Some say that dogs can survive on a vegetable diet.

Dogs being made vegetarians is a contentious issue. Scientifically, dogs belong to the order Carnivora. There is a movement today to convert dogs to a vegan diet. While science has nothing against it, the fear of many is that when dog owners do this, a vegan diet will certainly have an impact on the species.

This page is supposed to be comparing mastiffs with wolves, but then it starts talking about the vegan pet food movement. This happened because large language models generate text based on on what's statistically likely to follow the last text it just generated.

Finally, the website's images are AI generated:

If you know what to look for, this is a very obviously AI generated image. There's no graininess to the image, and the details are both unnaturally smooth and unnaturally crisp. It also has that high color saturation that many AI generated images have.

So there you go, this is one example of what an AI generated website can look like! Be careful out there!

So my roommate informed me this morning that the hot water suddenly cut out in the shower.

Which left me in a predicament, because it's the Friday before Christmas, and the chances of getting the general contractors to my place to figure out what's wrong with my water heater seems like an incredibly ill-timed (and incredibly expensive) venture.

So I employ my (2) millennial skills.

I find the fuse in the fuse box that I think goes to the water heater, I turn it off, and I turn it back on again (actually I turn off all the fuses to that part of the house and kind of hope that the water heater is among them)

I crawl up to where there's a bunch of instructions on the side of the heater and I try to make sense of them. And I find a term that I only actually know from one place.

See, there's an episode of Rugrats back when I was a kid that begins with Stu Pickles taking a shower and suddenly shrieking to his wife that "the pilot light's gone out!" because the water suddenly went cold.

Hey, it's worth a try.

So, based on the insight gained from a TV show I watched as a child, I read the fucking instructions, and I follow them to the letter.

With a water heater as old as mine, it seems unlikely that I can do anything that either wasn't about to happen already or that the contractors can't fix (or can't pry out of the cinderblock) after I fuck it up. (That hearkens back to Millennial Skill 2.5: the ability to keep calm and take nihilistic comfort in the fact that if I die in a freak water heater explosion, then I am absolved of all debt and may finally rest in an afterlife beyond the confines of this capitalistic hellscape.)

I look in the little window in the heater (did you know they have a little window in them???) and see a little blue flame, so I'm guessing that did it.

By the end of which, nothing exploded and I have hot water again.
