Anyway we're in a no yard signs allowed neighborhood but I suspect many if not most of my neighbors are conservative (it was originally oriented as a retirement community and is still primarily old white people, at least one of whom has been comfortable making bigoted comments in front of mixed company) but since I'm now in a position of some visibility/authority due to being in the HOA against my will I'm going to put together a cold weather care package (handwarmers, maybe some hot chocolate/tea packets, a little zine with emergency numbers for if you lose power, heating centers, weatherproofing tips, etc.) and go door to door handing them out. I'll keep the zine much less political than the ones we use for other areas but if while handing them out I get into a nice chat about how utilities prices keep going up and there are public comment sessions every time they try to raise them, and also isn't it wild that the weather keeps getting worse, I wonder why that is... so be it. At the very least more of us will know each other's faces and that's step 1.

[TIME SENSITIVE] GOFUNDME LINK
Hi everyone, my name is Chase. I am creating this gofundme in hopes to help me, my fiancee Lily, my best friend Zoey, and our two kitties Mango and Cocoa escape out currently falling apart apartment by September.
The history with this apartment has always been sketchy, we learned in late 2022 our lease was fraudulent as our previous landlord hadn't disclosed to us that he was subleasing. When we suddenly got a notice that we might be facing an eviction, despite paying rent on time every single month, we ended up learning be was pocketing the money and ran. The property owners were kind enough to keep us in the apartment and sign a real lease, however unfortunately getting in contact with them regarding issues has been more difficult than it should be.
Since October, we have been dealing with broken windows, a broken front door (which only got fixed in May!) broken shower tiles and a clogged tub drain, shotty lighting, and other damage in the apartment. We also learned during that cold snap in January our apartment is not weatherproof for cold weather, it was around 30 F in my room near one of the broken windows before we had to tape everything up. This apartment has become a safety concern for both us and the cats, and despite repeatedly calling and emailing we have receive only one repair since October.
While I know we are more than set to cover rent, extra fees like pet fees and move in fees are a little harder to cover. I recently started a new job and went through about a month without pay, draining my checking savings and maxing out my credit card, I am still recovering from this slowly. My fiancee is frequently in chronic pain so working any longer than she does would take a toll on her, and when Zoey moved up it proved to be harder to find a job than she expected, so for a little while she wasn't able to help much with rent.
This combined with emergency expenses (hospital visit, vet visit, major repairs, etc) has put us in a place where we need a bit of extra help getting us into a nicer and safer place.
We are currently lined up for a couple apartments in our neighborhood, so as soon as we get confirmation we can move forward with one of these places we will be set.

The Half Way Point Part Four: Grow Strong - Angel Reyes x Reader (Feat Felipe Reyes) - Final Part
Tagging: @proceduralpassion @crazy4chickennuggets @callsignartemis @kmc1989 @witches-unruly-heart @keyweegirlie @infinity-mars @danzer8705 @im-just-a-mississippi-girl @appreciatelove @the-wandering-lunatic @weiwei0210 @anime-weeb-4-life @multifandomloversworld @harperdoodle @est1887 @prettyinpunk85 @thanossexual @briefpersonenemy @creativitybeware @librarian1002 @mortal--soul @buddinglinguist @spookyboogyuniverse @spaghettificationandpretzels @nu1freakshow @thebaileybugle @legally-a-bastard @oureternalbond @bonsaijoons @sclitvdes
The Half Way Point:
Part One: Pink Roses - Felipe doesn't like you.
Part Two: Blessing - Felipe gets to know you a little better.
Part Three: A Safe Space - Felipe helps with some repairs.
The two of them have been watching you for ten minutes through the kitchen window and you still show no signs of coming indoors. Instead, you’re at the front of Felipe’s house digging out the borders alongside the rose bush because you’ve arrived with compost and a determination to do something about Felipe's shitty soil.
“When I invited you over for dinner this is not what I had in mind.” He tells Angel as he sips from his beer bottle.
“It’s her thing.” Angel states, rubbing his palm over the back of his neck. “She fucking loves getting her hands in the dirt.”
Felipe knows what you’re doing. He fixed your bench, oiled your gate, and then weatherproofed them both, and now you’re repaying the debt. He wonders if this is how it’s always going to be between the two of you and then realises that he’s started to think of you in the long term.
“You gonna marry her?”
“Eventually.” Angel tells him, his gaze never leaving you as you dump a fuck ton of compost into the earth. “We’re three months in. She’s going to think I’m nuts if I propose now.”
“I think she’s a little nuts anyway.” Felipe remarks turning his attention back to the oven. He slips on a pair of yellow oven mittens that Marisol used to use, before pulling out the oven tray with the jacket potatoes. “Go get her in before the neighbours think I’m too frail to attend to my own front yard.”
Angel complies with the request and Felipe watches the conversation through the window. When you tip your head back and laugh, he knows Angel’s told you what he said. He finds the corners of his mouth turning up as he heats the pan for the steak, he’s been marinading all afternoon.
He knows what love looks like and he knows that Angel is head over heels for you. It's the first time he's seen his son actually happy. He thinks you feel the same way, you’re tender with your affection, stripping off your gardening gloves and slipping them into your back pocket, before your fingers trail along the line of his jaw guiding his mouth to yours. It's almost too intimate to watch.
Felipe turns his attention back to the stove as you come through the door, heading straight towards the sink to wash your hands.
“It's too late Felipe,” You tell him as you turn on the tap. “One of your neighbours has ready asked me if I’m your new gardener.”
“That makes a refreshing change.” He remarks and Angel can't help but laugh at the sentiment as he pulls out a chair for you.
It's surprising how normal eating with other people feels to Felipe, despite the fact it's been a couple of years. The conversation flows easily, switching from the work that Angel's been doing at the community centre to other programs they have. He gets the sense that Angel is hedging around something when he shares a meaningful look with you.
“What?” Felipe says setting his knife and fork down in the centre of this plate.
“Are you sure you want to do it tonight?” Angel asks quietly tilting his head towards the urn on the sideboard.
Felipe sighs before leaning forward, his elbows coming to rest upon the table.
“I think it's time, don't you?”
Angel meets his father’s gaze, his lips pursing together before he nods his agreement. It’s been over six years since his mother died, it’s time for her to rest.
“Do you want to wait for EZ?” You ask him, pushing your empty plate away from you. “It's starting to get dark out, if we’re going to do it tonight, it should probably be soon.”
“We'll give him a few more minutes.” Felipe says looking up at the clock.
“We can always do it by candlelight.” Angel says, looking pointedly at the cupboard under the sink. “There's always a few in the disaster kit.”
It's half an hour later that you find yourself on your knees in front of Marisol's rose bush, digging out a small hole in the soil alongside the roots. Each of the Reyes men are stood behind you, EZ and Angel holding a candle to illuminate the darkness, while Felipe cradles Marisol’s urn to his chest.
“You're sure about this?” You ask them again as you set the trowel down in the grass beside you.
“Mom would have loved it.” EZ says reassuringly, his hand coming to rest on his father’s back for the briefest moments. “Something new growing from her ashes.”
You look to Felipe before kneels down beside you and removes the lid from the urn. You watch as he tips his late wife's remains into the soil. You use your trowel to cover up the hole before you pat it down flat. Felipe places his palm upon the earth, his thumb smoothing over the dirt as he whispers into the night.
“Grow strong my love.”

#11: Spitting
Prompt: Surrogate
Rhyle looked up at the fat, heavy storm clouds that had rolled in over Quarrymill. He’d been helping one of the hume residents repair a garden box in exchange for a few seedlings that he could practice his abilities on, and of course, now that the weatherproofing stain on the outside was curing, the sky threatened rain. Sighing, he joined the hume and helped her lift the thing without touching the outsides of the box so that they could carry it under the large awning at the side of the house.
“This weather’s been crazy the last few days, I tell ya,” she said, clucking her tongue with disappointment. “A bell ago? No sign of rain. Now? It’s almost spittin’ already! Good thing this thing’s at least halfway dry already; I’d have hated to still be staining it when the rain started.”
Rhyle’s ear closest to the hume swiveled toward her, and he must have been giving her a strange look, because she furrowed her brow in confusion after they set the box down on the ground.
“Did I say something wrong?”
“No,” Rhyle answered honestly giving her a little shrug as they began to walk back around the side of the house toward the front door. “I am just wondering whose spit you’re talking about.”
The hume blinked owlishly at him, and then snorted. “The sky, of course! When it’s just starting to rain, I call it spittin’! IT comes down a little at a time, in spurts, usually, like the sky’s goin’ PTOOEY!” She exaggerated a spitting motion, like she was aiming for a spitoon, and Rhyle just made a face.
“Ah. So as others say, sprinkling,” he clarified, and she bobbed her head in a nod, brown curls shifting over one shoulder.
“Sprinklin’. Spittin’. Same thing, justabouts.” After a moment’s pause, she opened the door to her garden shed and retrieved the three potted seedlings she’d promised him, all lined up on a little wooden tray for ease of carrying. “Well, here ya are, Rhyle. Payment as promised.”
He nodded and bade her a good evening, starting the walk back to his burrow with his prizes. He hadn’t made it a malm out of the village when the sky opened up and it started pouring, and he pulled the hood of his cloak up to cover his head and ears. He didn’t mind it, really; the smell was wonderful, and the sound of it hitting the leaves and the ground nearby was soothing. He’d never seen rain before he’d come here, and now he wondered how many words existed for it. Maybe he’d ask his friend next time he saw her.

character: Safiye Aksoy @safiye-aksoy
location: Room Service
Dylan had a few house projects that she wanted to get working on once she was able to start and with her mom having left, she felt like it was a good time start since there weren't any planned guests soon. She wanted to start with putting a rail on the ramp to the front door. She still had to get approval from her doctor on a few things before she knew she could go through with starting, but it didn't hurt to window shop. Her eyes were looking over the various types of weatherproof sprays when she noticed someone in the aisle walking away and something dropped out of their pocket. "Oh! Ma'am! I think ya dropped somethin'." She called out as she reached over to grab the paper before she walked away even more.

Darktober 6
"... Bridget led me away from the big grand entry at the front of the mansion, to a smaller section around the back by the garage, with a very nice but significantly less grandiose entry door. "Guest house, originally," Bridget told me. "Mrs. Elizabeth likes it better here than in the main house. Can't say I blame her." She rang an old-fashioned bell by the doorway. I heard a distant "Come in!" from inside. Bridget obliged, and I followed.
We came into a little entry room (I think they call it a foyer?), paved with old tile covered with a large and covertly weatherproof rug. There was an old stairway on one side, and a large set of wooden double doors in the wall facing the entry. Lining the walls were portraits - portraits of the Collins family, I can only assume. Some were newer, clearly from the last century, and others were far, far older. They all shared the same dark hair and eyes (with only one or two exceptions), and a general air of grave regality - like they were going off to war right after their portrait sitting or something. It was so strange to just casually walk near them like they were just everyday house decorations, and not original historical pieces of art that belonged at the Louvre.
Bridget left my suitcase at the stairway, going to knock on the double doors.
"For heaven's sake, Bridget, why are you being so polite? Come barge in like you always do, you're giving the poor girl strange ideas about us."
Bridget grinned, opening the door.
Behind them lay a disarmingly cozy living-room. It looked nothing like the rest of the house, except for the stonework floors. Plush rugs, old but cushy-looking furniture, modern family photos now occupying wall space instead of regally painted portraits. At the center of it all was a large fireplace with a carved mantle, and before the fireplace...
....stood a woman. A petite, dark-haired woman, wearing plain, comfortable clothes, holding a steaming mug of bergamot tea that filled the room with its bright scent. She looked to be somewhere in her mid-forties, lines creasing her tanned face, eyes a deep, cool green. She was a good foot shorter than me, but there was something in the way she held herself as she turned to look at me with those calm, cool eyes that made me immediately stand up as straight as I could, ready to obey orders, listen to every word she had to say.
She locked eyes with me, and her cool expression immediately cracked into the sweetest, warmest smile I had ever seen. "Welcome to Collinwood, Victoria." she said. "I'm so glad you're here. I'm Elizabeth Collins."

Jurassic Park Gates continued - I made the small torch holders and, since those little fan flames were way too expensive, I bought some simple flickering pumpkin lights to put inside them. Each holder has a shelf cut into it to keep the light from dropping all the way in. The picture above is a quick stack test. The top two pieces and the larger bottom piece are not currently attached to one another. I'm going to come up with a way to make it so they'll come apart for storage. For the doors, I glued two boards together and then cut the front pattern out of thin foam I bought in a roll from Michaels. This was glued on and then grooves were cut out between the "wood panels". I want the doors to come off (again for storage), so I used these hinges that easily come apart. I did have to buy left and right hinges which were sold separately though.
The arched sign will also be made to come off. I'm going to do some tests with industrial strength velcro to see if that works. Once that part is sorted, it'll be on to texturing with this cool technique I saw on Youtube and then weatherproofing and painting!

📷 Security Camera Placement Tips: Maximize Coverage and Safety When installing security cameras, strategic placement is crucial for effective surveillance. Here are some tips to help you choose the best locations for maximum coverage and safety:
Identify Vulnerable Areas 🔍 • Entry Points: Place cameras at all entrances, including front and back doors, garages, and windows that are easily accessible. This will help capture any suspicious activity right from the start. • Parking Areas: Install cameras in parking lots or driveways to monitor vehicle activity and deter theft.
Consider Coverage Angles 📐 • Field of View: Choose cameras with a wide-angle lens to cover larger areas. A single camera can monitor multiple entry points if placed correctly. • Avoid Obstructions: Ensure there are no trees, walls, or other obstacles blocking the camera's view. This will prevent blind spots and ensure comprehensive coverage.
Height and Positioning ⬆️ • Mount Cameras High: Installing cameras at a height of 8 to 10 feet can help prevent tampering and provide a better field of view. • Tilt and Angle: Adjust the camera angle to capture the area directly in front while minimizing the risk of obstruction from people or objects.
Indoor vs. Outdoor Placement 🏡 • Outdoor Cameras: Use weatherproof cameras with infrared capabilities for nighttime monitoring. Ensure they are placed under eaves or awnings to protect them from the elements. • Indoor Cameras: Focus on common areas like living rooms, hallways, and entryways. Avoid placing cameras in private areas to respect privacy.
Consider Lighting Conditions 💡 • Natural Light: Position cameras to avoid glare from sunlight, which can affect image quality. If possible, place them in shaded areas during the day. • Low Light: Ensure cameras have night vision capabilities to maintain clear images in low-light conditions.
Monitor High Traffic Areas 🚶♂️ • Entryways and Hallways: Cameras in these locations can help identify visitors and track movement throughout the property. • Cash Registers or Safe Areas: In businesses, place cameras at registers and safe areas to deter theft and monitor employee activity.
Regularly Review and Adjust 🔄 • Periodic Checks: Regularly review footage to ensure cameras are capturing the desired areas. Adjust angles or positions as necessary based on changing circumstances or new vulnerabilities. Conclusion Effective security camera placement is key to ensuring your property is well-monitored and protected. As the holiday season approaches, Zephyrhills homes transform into cozy, festive spaces filled with cheer. Decorating for Christmas is an opportunity to express your creativity while celebrating the season’s spirit. Whether you prefer classic décor or modern twists, here are some Christmas decorating ideas tailored for Zephyrhills’ unique charm and climate.
1. Incorporate Florida Flair
Zephyrhills’ warm weather during the holidays offers a chance to combine traditional Christmas elements with tropical touches:
Use palm fronds or tropical leaves as part of your garlands or wreaths.
Add ornaments in vibrant shades of turquoise, coral, and gold to reflect Florida’s coastal vibe.
Create a centerpiece with citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, and limes for a fresh, local touch.
2. Highlight Outdoor Spaces
In Zephyrhills, the mild December weather allows you to extend your decorations outdoors:
String warm white lights around your palm trees or porch railings.
Set up an outdoor Christmas seating area with weatherproof pillows and throws in festive colors.
Decorate your patio with lanterns, poinsettias, and small potted evergreens to create a holiday ambiance.
3. Embrace Southern Charm
Give your home a warm and welcoming feel with classic Southern-inspired décor:
Use burlap ribbons and bows in your tree or wreaths for a rustic yet elegant look.
Incorporate magnolia leaves and pinecones into your garlands and centerpieces.
Display a vintage sleigh or wagon at your entryway filled with faux snow, ornaments, and wrapped gifts.
4. Choose Lightweight and Airy Decorations
Considering Zephyrhills’ humidity, opt for lightweight materials that won’t droop or fade:
Use artificial greenery and flowers treated for outdoor use.
Opt for LED lights to avoid excess heat and save energy.
Decorate with fabric banners, paper snowflakes, or mesh ribbons that stay crisp in humid conditions.
5. Create a Festive Front Porch
Your porch is the perfect place to welcome guests and show off your holiday spirit:
Add a wreath to your door with a mix of traditional Christmas greens and local flora.
Place a pair of oversized candy canes or nutcrackers on either side of your doorway.
Hang a cheerful holiday sign that reads “Merry Christmas from Zephyrhills” or similar personalized greetings.
6. Incorporate Sustainable Décor
Celebrate the season while being mindful of the environment:
Use natural materials like twigs, burlap, and recycled wood for décor.
Make your own ornaments using seashells or driftwood collected from nearby areas.
Repurpose mason jars into snow globes, candle holders, or mini terrariums.
7. Go Big with Lights
Christmas lights bring magic to any space, and Zephyrhills is no exception:
Wrap your home in twinkling lights, focusing on windows and rooflines.
Use LED string lights in whimsical shapes like stars, flamingos, or palm trees to match the local vibe.
Install a light projector to create moving snowflakes or festive patterns on your home’s exterior.
8. Personalize Your Decorations
Make your decorations uniquely yours:
Display family photos or ornaments with special memories on your tree.
Create a custom advent calendar with small trinkets or notes for each day leading to Christmas.
Include handmade crafts or DIY decorations created with your loved ones.
9. Add Festive Scents
Don’t forget the power of scent to enhance your holiday atmosphere:
Use candles or essential oil diffusers with fragrances like cinnamon, pine, or peppermint.
Simmer a pot of water with oranges, cloves, and cinnamon sticks for a natural and inviting aroma.
Place fresh greenery or eucalyptus in vases around your home.
10. Host a Decoration Party
Bring the community together by hosting a holiday decorating party:
Invite friends and family to help deck the halls while enjoying festive music and treats.
Set up stations for DIY ornaments, wreath-making, or gingerbread houses.
End the night with a tree-lighting ceremony and hot cocoa under the stars.
Conclusion
Zephyrhills provides the perfect backdrop for creating a festive and welcoming holiday atmosphere. By blending traditional Christmas themes with local charm and a touch of creativity, your home will radiate the joy and warmth of the season. Whether you’re hosting gatherings or simply enjoying the holidays with loved ones, these decorating ideas will make your Zephyrhills home sparkle this Christmas.

How to Choose the Right Windows and Doors for Your Home Style
Windows and doors are essential elements of any home, providing both functionality and aesthetic appeal. Selecting the right style not only enhances your home’s curb appeal but also complements its architectural design. Here’s a guide to help you choose windows and doors that perfectly suit your home’s style.
1. Consider Your Home’s Architectural Style
Different home styles call for specific window and door designs. Here are some popular examples:
Traditional Homes: Classic double-hung windows and paneled doors with ornate details work well.
Modern Homes: Opt for large, floor-to-ceiling windows and sleek, minimalist doors with clean lines.
Colonial Homes: Symmetrical windows with divided panes and centered entry doors add to the charm.
Cottage-Style Homes: Casement windows and rustic wooden doors with decorative glass inserts create a cozy look.
Mediterranean Homes: Arched windows and wrought iron-accented doors fit seamlessly.
2. Prioritize Functionality
While aesthetics are important, your windows and doors must also meet your practical needs. Consider the following:
Ventilation: Casement or sliding windows are ideal for spaces needing ample airflow.
Natural Light: Large picture windows or bay windows can brighten interiors.
Security: Reinforced glass and multi-point locking systems offer added safety.
Energy Efficiency: Look for options with Low-E glass, insulated frames, and weatherproof seals.
3. Choose Complementary Materials
The material you choose can impact the durability, maintenance, and overall look of your windows and doors. Common materials include:
Wood: Perfect for traditional and rustic homes, offering warmth and elegance.
Vinyl: A low-maintenance and affordable option with good insulation properties.
Aluminum: Lightweight and modern, ideal for contemporary designs.
Fiberglass: Durable and energy-efficient, suitable for various architectural styles.
4. Select the Right Colors and Finishes
The color and finish of your windows and doors should harmonize with your home’s exterior. Popular choices include:
Neutral Tones: White, beige, or gray for a timeless appeal.
Bold Colors: Bright hues for the front door to create a focal point.
Natural Wood Stains: Ideal for traditional and rustic homes.
Black Frames: A contemporary touch that contrasts beautifully with light-colored walls.
5. Incorporate Decorative Elements
Enhance the visual appeal of your windows and doors with decorative features:
Grilles: Add a classic or craftsman-style look to windows.
Glass Inserts: Choose frosted, stained, or etched glass for added style and privacy.
Hardware: Select door handles, knobs, and hinges that match your home’s design theme.
6. Think About Indoor-Outdoor Connection
If you love blending indoor and outdoor spaces, consider:
Sliding Glass Doors: Perfect for patios and decks.
French Doors: A classic choice for creating elegant transitions.
Bi-Fold Doors: Expand living areas seamlessly while maximizing natural light.
7. Factor in Maintenance Needs
Different materials and finishes require varying levels of upkeep. For instance:
Wood: Needs regular sealing or painting to prevent damage.
Vinyl: Requires minimal maintenance and is resistant to moisture.
Aluminum: May need occasional cleaning to avoid corrosion.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right windows and doors for your home is a balance of style, functionality, and durability. By considering your home’s architectural design, practical needs, and personal preferences, you can create a cohesive look that enhances both beauty and value.

Top Tips By Security System Installation Companies in Dubai for Maximizing Security
Have you decided to upgrade the security in your commercial or residential space? Apart from hiring security system installation companies in Dubai, you are also supposed to identify the security requirements and the best placement. When you place the cameras, sensors and alarms properly, you can ensure maximum security and enhance the impact. Here are a few tips that can help you improve the security placement around your complex.
1. You must begin by identifying the entry points for your house, include both doors and windows for this purpose. They should be at the ground level. once you have these details, you can start installing the cameras strategically along the entrance. This would give you a complete insight into the entry points and you can always prevent unauthorized entry. When you are planning the entry points, you should always cover the front door as most of the times this is used as the entry point. While the back door is less visible, it is indeed a favorite for suspicious activities. You can make sure there is a camera to check this space. Lastly, you must look for first floor windows as they are easy to access and place the cameras for better view.
2. The home automation installation company in Dubai believe that you should mount the cameras at a point where it can capture a wide area. This would reduce the risk of tampering. You can use the roof eaves or building corners that can help get an unobstructed view of the space. Make sure you use weatherproof material that indicates durability when you are mounting these cameras. You should find equipment that can withstand all weather conditions. You should ideally have an aerial view of the backyards, parking lots and driveways, which can help monitor all types of unusual activities.
3. When you find an entrance that is hidden away from the main target space, you are sure to attract the burglars. These include the hidden entrances, side gates and basement windows. You should make sure these spaces are covered by the cameras. Make sure the security system installation companies in Dubai have found the strategic space to have the cameras installed in the hidden entrances. If you have multiple levels, you should also cover the staircases and second floor windows as they can become the entry point.
4. You should use motion activated lighting to power the security of your space. When the motion activates the lighting, it can startle the person, which can ensure that the person doesn’t enter. You should cover the entire perimeter to ensure that the unauthorized entry is prevented. You can also use them to cover the driveways and parking. Using these sensors, you can easily identify if someone is approaching the house and know if they are your visitors.
5. When you are assessing the property, you should also look for areas that the camera will miss. For instance, sheds and trees are places where the cameras will not be able to access. You should include adjustable camera angles to access these blind spots.
According to the home automation installation company in Dubai, you must monitor all sides of the property to ensure maximum security.
