Yeah, it gets confusing when you first start out. The animation style changes a lot as well. I’m assuming you are watching the sub and not the dubbed Mondo version that changes a lot?
Names in this show seem to be [occupation] + [species] if there is not a definite obvious identifier/physical descriptor (like Oegwipali = one ear for a one eared mouse). So, Commander Darami is Commander squirrel.
Darami means squirrel in this context, whereas Juldarami means striped. Juldarami's appearance style changes later (the animation style changes a few times) so that the darker patch (you can see these darker patches on real life Eurasian squirrels, and they are how you help tell them apart from gray squirrels in some cases. The ear tufts are a winter thing, and don't really appear except for some slight tufts on a S2 character) appears striped later in the series, and you can tell him apart from Geumsaegi.
Like so (Juldarami on the right):

Goseumdochi means hedgehog, so there is Commander Goseumdochi, the leader in Flower Hill, and Scout Goseumdochi, the scout that assists Juldarami and Geumsaegi.
The Commanders mostly stay in Flower Hill, while the scouts will be behind enemy lines.
You can also tell them apart by their uniforms after episode 4. Commander Goseumdochi has a solid color uniform, and Scout Goseumdochi has camo patches on his uniform.

Not to be confused with an observation post Goseumdochi who is also just called Goseumdochi later in S1. That is a different Goseumdochi altogether, but you can tell them apart easily enough.
The mice are a bit easier, but the weasels can be a bit confusing sometimes, since some have the same occupation and thus the same name. Telling which is which depends on where the specific weasels are stationed. But saying any more than that would spoil things.
Otherwise, when it comes to minor characters, their occupation will be clearly called out if they aren’t just appearing in the background. However, in this fandom on this website, I’ll have to warn you that we really love background characters that might appear for less than ten seconds, and tend to come up with entire backstories and names for them, and then casually talk about them and what we think they would be doing. It might be a bit confusing at first, but it’s easy enough to figure out.
What's the difference between Darami and Juldarami? And the two Goseumdochis? I'm new to the show, just finished ep04, so any help on identifying characters would be great. Thank you!
