yesterday we had a farewell lunch for one of my coworkers and it was the first time so many of us were in the building together since mid march and we were all so excited to see each other 😭😭 i really did forget what a genuine pleasure it is to share my workplace, where i spend over half my week, with these people! i’m really sad that this coworker is leaving, she’s in quite a high position and she’s always been such a friend to/advocate for all of us, always made sure anything that was making our work lives more difficult was addressed, and also acted like a shield to protect us from things that may filter down and affect us negatively. i always treasured the times we crossed paths and i’m going to miss her A LOT but yesterday was just a really great day, and if our case numbers stay where they are we’ll all be able to see each other again for our christmas lunch in December and i cannot wait!

#also many of us kept joking that it was the first opportunity we've had to dress nice in 6 months lol #which like BIG mood - i really have been in my pyjamas since march #oof its just been such a tumultuous year with losing staff members #there were a couple of people i didn't even get to say goodbye to :( one of them started only a year after me #so we were 2 of the longest standing employees!#i'm really sad about that #and i'm still really sad about our receptionist #we've been chatting a bit though over email/text the past few months which i'm happy about #anyway this coworker wasn't let go but instead is leaving for a new job so we finally got to have a joyous farewell!#and i think they'll invite her to the christmas lunch bc anytime someone's left toward the end of the year they always come for that #its very easy to forget all your coworkers lovely attributes and focus on little irritants when you only communicate online #it was great to be reminded what a wonderful group of people i work with #and also dress in a socially acceptable manner :)#tp
