Personality

Susie was initially the jovial, affably threatening girl of the Haltmann Works Company. And to this day, she is still sort of one. An ambitious lady with a strong taste in things, fair-hearted and caring about her employees’ wellbeing, honest regarding her methods and able to take responsibility for any risk she takes… sounds like a perfect CEO, right? Towards her allies and workers she tries to be somewhat encouraging, if not a bit optimistic. Some say that disregarding her lavish and stylish ‘personality’, she isn't all that bad, and treats everyone with the respect they deserve. But when she is all alone, or with the people she trusted the most, it feels as if all the colors in her are drained away… as if she is a shell of her former self. In actuality, Susie is constantly tired. Tired of being the only sane one. Tired of being the only responsible person able to do things. Tired of being this miserable woman. But she is determined to make sure that there won’t be a second case like her father again, so she keeps working anyway, despite her struggles to get up from her current predicament - it really shows that she is trying in earnest, even asking help from those she never thought she would really ask. These experiences clearly had humbled her down. Apparently, perhaps the sweet, everloving Susie is still down there, but she’s not letting that out as much, just around the public… and not too much, either. But she’s trying. Always. That’s just how it goes.

Relationships

Kirby

Status: acquintances It’s a bit hard to really describe Susie, in Kirby’s perspective. They never met face-to-face until the time Kirby learned Meta Knight was brainwashed… and she had a play in it. It wasn’t great. And then the time he and his team learned Dedede got cloned for some reason. And then finally, just before confronting Haltmann. Kirby suspected there is something more to this, just like Taranza before her, and what do you know, he is absolutely correct… There is a bit of mutual interest. Susie sees Kirby, this ‘Pinky’, as a very interesting individual. His charisma and charm was able to lead the team and keep them from falling apart, after all, not to mention his surprising feats of defying the odds. Deep down she admits she envies the boy for being so able to shrug off things very easily. Kirby on the other hand sees Susie as someone who also needs help, like Taranza. Especially after the stunt she pulled before Star Dream’s awakening. So he’s planning to figure that out… later, when he feels more stable. Looks like there is a budding relationship to settle, but we’ll see how this one goes… though knowing Kirby, it’ll lead to a bond one way or another.

Bandana Dee

Status: friends To the surprise of EVERYONE, Susie's first friend in Team Starstruck is Bandana. Yep, not Kirby mind you, Bandana. The guy who beat her the first time around, the guy who has a bit of hatred and vitriol from the start to the Haltmann Works Company, the guy who was a bit more skeptic in general. She didn't expect that coming either, but well… here we are.  Bandee was the guy who initially broke Susie's walls by defeating her as a lowly ‘worker’, and points out how the little ones can too make changes. And this lesson stuck to her throughout the course of the war. In fact, arguably, Bandee's actions became a catalyst for her redemption. Susie honestly thinks he's a great worker himself - any company would probably pay high for his personality and hard work, but it seems like Bandee's content with being with Team Starstruck and staying at Dedede's Castle, so she won't bother him on that. Don't want to mess this up after all. The two kept in touch once Susie started rebuilding the place. Mainly, Bandee was just in the sidelines - he had other things to deal with - but it's fine. They’re cool now.

Robobot Armor

Status: acquaintances You'd think Robobot Armor would hate Susie. Or at least, dislike her - like, no sh•t, she was the top brass of the company. Well, you'd be surprised to hear that, uh, no, actually, they are fine! They are just… neutral with her. It helps that they don't interact much directly - it's Bandee who has the most interaction with her. Maybe Robobot dislikes Susie a little, but not enough to throw hands on sight entirely. To Robobot, Susie is just another person in the HWC back then - they didn't care, they only fought her because she and her kind wanted Kirby dead. That's it. Nothing more nothing less, and now that they are chill it's… whatever, I guess, can't bother. And the feeling is mutual. While Susie does have intrigue towards the way Robobot is now, she doesn't bother too much about it. Probably because of the Adaptor Chip experiments not going well and they were one of the only recorded successful results. One less failure is better than nothing, considering everything else the company did… Are they both interested in developing a strong bond? Uh… not now, admittedly, but maybe someday. They are too occupied with a lot of sh•t right now.

Meta Knight

Status: acquaintances Susie is actually very interested in Meta Knight - despite not being the one who directly installed all the mechanization into him, she did have a hand in it by designing the concept. And looking back… there is a regret she can’t really express or expel. And Meta Knight isn’t the biggest fan of Susie either - the only reason they ‘cooperate’ was because the two made a deal during the war which did influence Team Starstruck’s revolution later, not to mention he now has to watch over her per GSA orders. Well, clearly, their relations are… awkward! They merely keep things professional for the most part, and that’s about it really! There might be just a tiny admiration from Susie’s part regarding Meta’s expertise - and later work ethic upon watching him and his crew interact - but otherwise, it was a lukewarm connection. There is no love, no hate, just business, and for the sake of the world’s wellbeing. Nothing more than that, really, and they both understand if the other wants to f^ck off as soon as business’s over. Yeah.

Max Profitt Haltmann/President Haltmann

Status: family, ex-employer (...it's complicated) Right… her father. It’s a touchy subject, this is, but really, it’s inevitable. There are people who still judge her over her father’s actions after all - positively, negatively, actively, passively, extremely, it doesn’t matter. Susie is still stuck under her father’s shadow to those that only knew of his crimes, and that’s a fact she strives to change. But despite all the things her father has done in the late stages of her life, Susie still has some love for him, or at least the man she saw back when she was very young. Haltmann was the best father ever, according to her, during his sane days. He’s the type who would do anything for his family, even coddling Susie back when she was small, letting her to accompany him at work doing just really small things under his supervision. That’s honestly something she still holds fondly. And yet, she loathed the man her father has become: a man who would sacrifice everyone and everything for a fleeting goal. In spite of all the sins he had brought to her and the company, or the abandonment that he does even though that is Star Dream’s fault… in the end, she had to accept that there is nothing she can really do, but grit through. Still, that feeling remains…

Battle Style Analysis

Contrary to popular belief, Susie actually prefers fighting out of her mechanical suit. She usually prefers using the suit when heavy combat necessitates it, or for intimidation factor. She's pretty good at piloting it, it's an all-rounder machine, with both ranged and melee properties Susie utilizes a lot of gunplay. Yes, she has a sword, but she doesn't use it often - she mainly uses her sword to just cut down opponents in short range like a knife. Her style is ruthless and efficient, usually just leaving her opponent full of holes the moment she gets the chance to draw. Unfortunately, Susie usually prefers staying still for most of her moves when out of suit. Why? To maintain that efficiency, she doesn't have to strain her energy as often. Problem is, when faced with opponents with fast speeds, well… I think you can guess how Bandee's fight went once she was forced to fight on foot. Strengths: has expert piloting skills, good reflexes, cautious with stamina Weaknesses: doesn't move too much, easily overwhelmed without her mechanical suit

Backstory

Susie’s memories in the Haltmann Works Company, before the incident, was a strange enigma. Most of them were spent with her father - she barely remembers her mother, honestly, but she knows she was very kind too, that’s about it. But really, those days had always been the best, days where she spent her time with her family and had tons of fun. All the best food, drinks, and entertainment money can buy… her father permits all of that, for his beloved little daughter. And it’s always so sweet. Why does she barely remember her mother, you may ask? Simple: she disappeared mysteriously when she was still too little to recall. Again, most of her life she clings on to her father, the happy-go-lucky man who wants to make sure that she’s well taken care of. Despite not having her mother, she always thinks that the two were enough to be a big happy family. Even when they moved into the Access Ark, it was still mostly very… personal. Until one day, an eight-year-old Susie woke up and attempted to find her father. She was woken up by the sounds of some loud, ripping noises stirring everywhere - there were countless rifts everywhere, she recalled. But unfortunately, before she knew it, while running and trying to figure out what was happening,  Susie was sucked in without warning, calling out for her father… and the rest was history. She found herself being tossed into Another Dimension, alongside some other people also sucked in by the incident too. This small group is the reason why Susie managed to survive the harsh environment there, and she learned from them as well. Eventually, they managed to get back to their beloved company, but by that time… it was all too late. The times had changed. The ways of the company went from just simple economical nomads doing trades into forceful hostile takeovers with a capitalistic veil. But most importantly, Max Profitt Haltmann, everyone’s favorite president, was a completely different person. He had seemingly forgotten everything - the entire group, including Susie, was treated as strangers who trespassed into the company. All of them were captured and tossed into separate cells. Susie didn’t know what happened to her fellow group, but all she knew was that she was the last to be freed. How? Why? No clue. But then she came to a realization: Haltmann felt a strange familiarity with her. When she tried to jog the man’s memory, he didn’t seem to remember much, and instead decided to command the new higher-ups, strangers she didn’t know, to train her as an intern. She wanted to protest, but then she remembered her old group, and when she tried to ask… all she got was silent glares. So she assumed the worst, and had to keep quiet. And it only got worse from there, from what she recalled. Her talents and skills, despite her young age, were so indispensable that she was easily promoted to being one of the top secretaries, answering directly to Haltmann. And eventually, she became his private secretary herself! During these years, as her responsibilities piled on, she tried her best to really figure out what had really happened with her father - why is he being so violent? What’s with his temper? How is he so cruel to some of the people she knew? And most importantly, why did he forget her? Of course, the truth stings her more and more, torturing her with each new clue and discovery… It was all related to the Mother Computer, which was also the cause of the rift incident that took her and her group away…

The next thing she knew, she was now spearheading the invasions, trying to get more materials for the project to bring her back. Except Haltmann had forgotten what the project was, simply justifying it as something along the lines of “for our prosperity”, while Susie was right there, standing near her father, struggling to do something. But not many cared, or knew regarding any of this, and thus, Susie trudged on, keeping a mask of an affable secretary loyal to the man’s demands, whilst dying a little bit more inside, again, and again, and again. The old, jovial and young Susie, stashed away for the sake of survival. The years passed, but it felt like centuries… until the Technological War started in Popstar. She was still hiding under that mask around this time, as if she had become one with it, whilst trapped within its corrupt societal pillars that Haltmann and the Mother Computer built. All while Team Starstruck rebels against the company in their own ways. She was used to dealing with threats by herself… but one of the members, Bandana, proved to beat her for the first time in a long time. And the lesson he imparted to Susie echoed deep within her mind so harshly, that she began to come to her senses a bit… Long story short, the mask broke by sheer persistence, and Susie is forced to face the true reality. She eventually hatched her own plan - teaming up with Meta Knight, the person who she had designed a specified mechanization look for from all people, keeping her eye more on her employees and making sure they will be much safer, and eventually creating her own team that would be vital in the quest to take over the Mother Computer, so they can cut the influence it had on her father. But things didn’t go 100% to plan, and the Mother Computer’s final solution was executed: a mass eradication of all organic beings. Susie was forced to flee, with many escaping out alongside her. And the war ended upon the Mother Computer’s own destruction. She took a bit of wandering, hoping to get fresh air, only to be stopped by the Galactic Soldier Army finally sending their troops after being blocked off for so long. She was once again thrown into a cell, before she was forced to testify for her innocence… or at least, what’s left of it. Her team did help, though, so that’s a good thing… Eventually, her final judgment came to a punishment that the Popstarians and the GSA both agreed upon - to stay in a small part of Popstar, near Dreamland, which unfortunately did not manage to have its mechanization fully purged by the war’s end. In addition to that, upon stabilizing, the GSA will ask the company to help support supplying or even terraforming the past planets they had taken over. The only reason their punishment wasn’t so ‘harsh’ was due to Susie’s young age, common sense that a full race eradication is a bad idea to apply in this case, as well as the fact that there are a lot of complications thanks to the company’s past histories. And that’s how she ended up here. Now the president of the Haltmann Works Company, the face of the Nullarians as a whole, and most importantly, an atoner of various war crimes. And to this day, she has been trying to keep rebuilding what is left from this sh^tshow. And she swore to herself that she’ll do it for not just the sake of her kind, but for her late father too… the old man she remembers fondly, that is, not the insane man who would do crimes for the sake of money.

It's Showtime! - January 2024 Devlog

Howdy folks! Cobalt here! Dev log once again a little late, but luckily I do have plenty to show you guys in terms of art! This month was… Rough mostly because we do live in the US and things here aren't going well. But for now let's talk game development!

Haven't done much here, other parts of the game need to be done currently before there's much else I can program in

I'm almost done with the in depth/dialogue for Chapter 2!! It's been a lot of on/off writing, cause like I mentioned just been tired but writing is still getting done <3!!

We have quite a bit of art particularly revolving around our protagonists! Showtime has gotten a change to his design, adding in his Vitiligo [or the Toon ver of it] since we felt it was fitting for his character and made him more unique!

Henry got an abundance of art. Mostly these wonderful doodles by Roddy figuring out his expressions and his general acting. His 3D model has also been through quite a bit figuring out Uv Unwrapping and getting him ready for his textures~

I've been rewriting our Acct bios, the game summary and trying to make the general social media stuff of our game more consistent.

Made a template for the Mini-Bios that accompany the refs so those should begin to be posted again. We're also gonna be removing the age part of their ref text because it was hard to decide at what point in the timeline that age should be from and decided it wasn't worth potential confusion.

For the Tumblr only, we are retiring this blog as an ask blog. We are too busy to run an ask blog alongside the rest we're doing. This is now just a blog for Showtime's development and nothing more. Feel free to send asks about the game and its story of course we're just retiring in-character asks and having our inbox open 24/7.
