"are we almost there?"
chris's vocal complaints were finally coming to an end when we reached our stop.
"this seems good!" nick stated in a proud tone as he plopped the duffel bag he had been carrying into the grass beneath him.
"i still don't know why we're doing this," matt murmered to me, causing me to chuckle.
nick had insisted we go on a one-night camping trip to "get away from everything" for a little while. it was something he saw on tiktok. the triplets invited madi and i to tag along. i had become friends with the boys in high school, and i was close with all of them, but chris and i seemed to gravitate towards one another significantly more.
"i heard that!" nick huffed as he went through their belongings in the duffel bag.
chris slumped beside me, his body immediately making contact with the grass as he took a deep breath. "finally, we can relax." he chuckled as he turned to me.
"i think they um.. might need help with the tent." i giggled as i pointed towards his brothers, who were already struggling with putting it together.
chris huffed and sat up to go help them while madi sat beside me. we made fun of them along the way.
about 6pm rolled around, and nick went through the cooler bag for food.
"alright guys, chris was really excited for this, but he made us all sandwiches." nick stated with a smile as he took each one out, each covered in cling wrap with a name written onto it.
chris clasped his hands together excitedly as he crawled towards them and began to go through them.
"alright... nick, madi... matt, and.. last but not least!" he cheerfully handed me a sandwich with my name written on the plastic. "here ya go."
"what about you, chris?" i asked, cocking an eyebrow.
chris's face dropped.
"no way you forgot to make yourself one." matt mumbled.
"it's okay, i'll share mine with you. i'm not super hungry anyway." i reassured him with a smile, and chris nodded softly.
"right, okay. sorry." he mumbled as he sat beside you.
once everyone had finished eating, we all started to get ready for bed. it wasn't late, but a day of hiking was truly tiring.
it was a summer night, so there wasn't much need for jackets or sweaters. i brought a pair of sweats and a simple black tee. no need for anything more, right?
everyone had fallen asleep, and chris and i were both sitting in silence. but i could tell he wasn't asleep because he wouldn't stop moving.
but then his voice pierced the silence between us.
"you wanna go to the top of the hill?" he questioned, pointing upwards.
there was a small hill beside our setup, and it seemed to be one of the highest things nearby. i nodded softly. "yeah, sure. sounds fun."
we slipped on our shoes and walked up, giggling as we tried our hardest to stay quiet.
"look at that," chris gawked at the view of the city, his eyes widening as he shifted to take a seat.
i gently sat beside him and pulled my knees to my chest.
it was truly gorgeous. the way the lights flickered and the cars passing by looked like ants... it was so bright in contrast to where they were. was that really what they lived in every night?
i turned to chris and felt my cheeks heat up upon realization that his eyes were on me.
"sorry," he quickly murmered as he turned back to the lights in the city.
i chuckled at him and shook my head. "if you think that's pretty.." i whispered before leaning back to lay down against the soft blades of grass. "you should look up."
chris watched me shift and gave the city one last glance before he laid beside me and crossed his arms behind his head.
"wow," he whispered, smiling softly.
i looked at the stars above us... each individually twinkling and providing a sense of warmth.
we sat in silence for a few minutes before chris cleared his throat slightly. "i feel like i'm in a difficult position."
i turned my head towards chris and blinked a few times as my cheeks grew pink.
no, he wasn't looking at me this time. instead he was staring up at the sky. but the moonlight along with the light that the stars provided perfectly outlined his jaw, his cheekbone and the bridge of his nose.
he looked stunning.
"what do you mean by that?" i asked softly, my eyes not leaving him now.
chris seemed to ponder for a moment before he sighed. "i just genuinely have no idea what to do." i stared at him and let him think before he sat up and propped himself up on his arm. "i'm so afraid but i'm so certain." he whispered, but his words came out firm - like he was positive about what he was talking about.
"what do you mean?" i asked, smiling softly at him.
chris didn't smile back. he seemed to really be battling his thoughts. "i have a hard time committing," he stated blankly before continuing, "i feel like i'm useless with things like this, but... i genuinely think i have finally received that push to let that go."
i watched him as he spoke, and finally, his eyes met with mine.
"it's hard, because i can feel myself slipping every single day.. further and further." he sat up and turned to look down at me. "i'm falling in love with someone who had seem me at my best and worst, and i'm afraid of ruining what i have with the person who knows me as well as i do." he whispered.
i felt my heart drop and my eyes widen as i sat up. "chris?" i questioned.
"but it hurts me more than anything that i have to go every single day pretending she's just my friend." he whispered. "but i'm so afraid," his voice cracked.
i listened closely to him. he needed to get his feelings off his chest.
"do you know how hard it is to watch your best friend grow up beside you into the most beautiful and amazing person you've ever seen?" he whispered.
i bit my lip as i nodded and sat up, scooting towards him. i gently reached to grab his hands and hold them in mine. my eyes never once left his. "i understand. because i do the same thing. every single day." i smiled, and chris's expression lit up. "i watch my best friend go every single day, fighting his personal battles and winning every single one of them. every day he's a better person and i admire that."
chris bit his lip as his eyes danced between either of mine. he laughed softly and dropped his head to look down, his bangs covering his eyes. "i just want things to work."
"they will." i whispered, causing chris's eyes to interlock with mine. "because she feels the same way."
chris's fingers gently locked with mine, and he bit his lip as he sniffed. he then pulled me into a tight hug, his nose burying into the crook of my neck.
i chuckled and held him tightly, my fingers gently caressing his hair.
"i can't believe i confessed to you in the middle of fucking nowhere," he mumbled against the skin of my shoulder, giggling softly.
i couldn't see him, but i could tell his face was red with embarrassment.
"better now than later." i whispered as i smiled at him.
chris pulled away and looked into my eyes, his bright blue ones looking even more light with the stars.
"can i kiss you?" he whispered.
i felt my face flush, but i nodded quickly and smiled.
and with that, chris leaned in and pressed his lips to mine, his eyes fluttering shut. he held my hand tightly in one hand while the other rose to rest against my cheek.
the stars glimmered a little brighter from that day onward.
every time i looked up at the night sky, i would think of the night my best friend confessed to me and started a journey we both desperately required, but had no idea was reciprocated.

Tall Male!R (preferably around 6'6"/198cm or more) playfully teasing Jenna Ortega for being short ;P
shorty
Pairings ; Jenna Ortega x Male!Reader
Warning/s ; none
Jenna and Y/N sat side by side on the plush couch, facing a lively audience and the charismatic talk show host, Emily. The interview had been going well, with both stars sharing insights about their latest project. The chemistry between them was palpable, drawing smiles and laughs from everyone present.
Emily leaned forward, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. "So, Jenna, Y/N, you two have become quite the talk of the town—not just for your amazing performances, but also for your adorable relationship. How do you manage to keep things light and fun on set?"
Jenna exchanged a quick, knowing glance with Y/N. "Well," she started, a playful grin spreading across her face, "it helps that we don't take ourselves too seriously. Especially when someone here," she nudged Y/N with her elbow, "loves to tease me about my height."
Y/N chuckled, his deep voice resonating through the studio. "What can I say? When you're 6'6" and your girlfriend is just over 5'1", it's hard to resist."
The audience laughed, and Emily raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Do tell, Y/N. How do you go about teasing her?"
Y/N leaned back, his smile widening. "Oh, it's all in good fun. Like the other day, Jenna was trying to reach something on the top shelf in the kitchen. I offered to help, but she was determined to get it herself."
Jenna chimed in, rolling her eyes but smiling. "I was almost there, and then he comes up behind me, pretending to use me as an armrest. I was like, 'Really? Right now?'"
Emily laughed along with the audience. "That must make for some interesting moments."
"Oh, definitely," Jenna agreed. "But it's not just him. I get my fair share of teasing in, too."
Y/N nodded, mock-serious. "She's got a wicked sense of humor. Like, she'll hide my stuff where only she can find it. I once spent an hour looking for my phone, only to find it in one of her tiny shoes."
The audience erupted in laughter, and Jenna grinned proudly. "Hey, you have to get creative when you're the short one."
Emily's eyes sparkled with amusement. "It sounds like you two balance each other out perfectly. Any more funny stories?"
Jenna thought for a moment. "Oh, there was this one time we were filming a scene, and Y/N had to pick me up. He lifted me so high that I almost bumped my head on one of the stage lights. The director had to remind him to keep it grounded."
Y/N shrugged, laughing. "What can I say? I forget my own strength sometimes."
Emily leaned in, her tone conspiratorial. "Okay, but seriously, what's the sweetest thing about being with each other, despite the height difference?"
Y/N's expression softened as he looked at Jenna. "Honestly, it's the little things. Like when Jenna stands on her tiptoes to kiss me, or when she snuggles into me perfectly because of our height difference. It's those moments that make it special."
Jenna's eyes glistened as she smiled up at him. "And for me, it's feeling protected and cherished. Plus, I get to have the best hugs."
Emily sighed dramatically, her hand over her heart. "You two are just too sweet. Any plans for future projects together?"
Y/N nodded. "We're looking at a couple of scripts. We really enjoy working together, so we're hoping to find something that lets us continue doing that."
"Well, we can't wait to see what you two do next," Emily said, beaming. "Thank you so much for joining us today and sharing your delightful stories."
As the interview wrapped up, Jenna and Y/N stood, their height difference once again evident as Y/N helped Jenna down from the couch. The audience applauded, clearly charmed by the couple's dynamic.
Walking off stage, Jenna glanced up at Y/N, her eyes twinkling. "You know, I think we aced that."
Y/N grinned, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Of course we did. We're a perfect team."
Backstage, the couple found a quiet corner to relax. Jenna nestled comfortably under Y/N's arm, feeling the comforting weight of his presence. Their public appearances were always fun, but it was these quiet moments together that Jenna cherished the most.
"You know," Y/N said, breaking the silence, "one of my favorite things about these interviews is how they always make us reflect on all the fun we have."
Jenna nodded, smiling. "Yeah, and it's nice to share those moments with everyone. Plus, it gives us a chance to tease each other publicly."
Y/N laughed, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "True. And speaking of teasing, remember when you tried to scare me on set by hiding behind a door? I heard you giggling before you even jumped out."
Jenna burst into laughter. "I couldn't help it! Your reactions are just too funny."
Y/N shook his head, smiling fondly. "Well, you definitely keep me on my toes."
Just then, a production assistant approached them. "Great interview, you two. There's a press conference in an hour, and then you're free for the rest of the day."
"Thanks," Jenna said, glancing up at Y/N. "You ready for round two?"
"Always," Y/N replied, giving her a quick squeeze. "But after that, how about we grab some lunch? I'm thinking of a place with chairs that don't make me feel like I'm sitting in kindergarten."
Jenna laughed. "Sounds perfect. And maybe a place where I don't have to ask for a booster seat."
Y/N chuckled, standing up and offering his hand to Jenna. "Deal. Let's get through this press conference, then it's lunch date time."
As they walked hand in hand towards the next part of their day, Jenna felt a warm glow in her heart. Despite the public scrutiny and their busy schedules, she knew they always made time for each other, balancing their playful teasing with deep affection. And as long as they had that, she knew they could handle anything together.

Five Christmases
Prompt Day 25: Christmas | Word Count: 1000 | Rating: T | CW: Language | Tags: Established Relationship, Future Fic, Christmas Day, Full Schedule, Family & Friends, Mostly Fluff, A Little Obligation, Steve POV
Christmas, 1999
8:06 AM
Steve is towel drying his hair, when Eddie pops into the doorway and taps his watch.
"The day has just started and we're already six minutes behind, Harrington. C'mon!"
Steve nods, "We'll be fine."
"Steve! Five Christmases! You committed us to five! That's a tight fucking schedule," Eddie shouts, and Steve just laughs. Usually he's the uptight one.
"I told you this was a bad idea," Steve says, just poking at him further. Just for fun, as a Christmas treat.
"This was your idea, asshole," Eddie says, slamming the bathroom door behind him, "I'm leaving in nine minutes, with or without you!"
"Okay, Bono!" Steve screams, not even sure if Eddie heard him.
9:12 AM
"Sorry we're late!" Eddie yells, pushing the front door open, letting themselves inside. "It's Steve's fault!"
Wayne gets up when he hears the door open, and Steve hugs Wayne. Eddie needs to chill the fuck out. Nobody is going to care if they are a few minutes late. Well, his parents will care. But nobody else will, especially not Wayne, that's for damn sure.
Wayne's house smells wonderful, like maple syrup, coffee and bacon. This was a perfect first stop of the day, nobody does breakfast better than Wayne.
They help him carry it all to the small formica kitchen table, sliding into the comfortable vinyl chairs, and it tastes as good as it smells.
This is Christmas.
The one thing they've done every year they've been together. Breakfast with Wayne. It's the only true Christmas tradition they have, and Steve wouldn't trade it for the world.
11:58 AM
Steve looks at his watch. They definitely aren't late as they stand on the steps, having rung the bell at the Harrington residence.
Steve debates ringing it a second time, but just waits. Surely they heard it.
And it takes forever, because it's cold as shit out here, but his mother finally answers the door.
"Hi, mom. Merry Christmas," Steve says, and she nods her head at them, opening the door wider.
"Merry Christmas, Mrs. Harrington," Eddie says, politely.
The long, formal dining room table is set up, and since it's just for the four of them, it's a little ridiculous. But he slides into his chair, a thousand miles away from everyone else at the table. His parents at either end, and Eddie across from him, hands folded in his lap.
He's nervous, Steve can tell. It never gets more comfortable, this awkward tip-toeing they all do around each other.
His parents know about Eddie, but would rather pretend otherwise, Steve supposes.
So, they eat their awkward meal, in uncomfortable stretches of silence.
In the car, Steve reaches over and takes Eddie's hand into his own, bringing it up to his lips.
"Thank you," Steve says, and Eddie nods. "The next one will be more fun," Steve promises and Eddie grins, wide and excited.
2:11 PM
They are barely up the walkway when the front door swings open, banging against the hallway wall.
"Shoes!" Steve hears being hollered from the house, but it's too late. Eddie's got an armful of little girl, despite her mother's warning.
"Uncle Eddie, Santa came!" she yells and Eddie smiles, brushing the snow off of her bare feet.
Gareth appears in the doorway, to usher them inside, as his daughter regales them with tales of all her new toys that Santa brought this morning.
Eddie puts her down once they're inside, and rattles the sack he has thrown over his shoulder, full of more presents.
Gareth shakes his head, but hugs Eddie once Eddie's handed over the sack, and she's ran into the living room, to open them up.
"You didn't have to do that," Gareth says, and Steve hears Eddie laugh. Of course they did.
"Sure we did, that's our girl, too, you know. And it's our right, as her super fun uncles, to spoil her rotten," Eddie states.
Gareth laughs, and settles onto the armrest of the chair Eddie has plopped down into, to watch her tear open the wrapping paper with delight.
5:33 PM
"Merry Christmas, dickhead," Steve says, and hugs Dustin.
"Back atcha," Dustin answers, guiding them into the living room. There's a nice fire going, and it's cozy.
Steve's glad Henderson finally moved closer to home, again. It's been too long.
Dustin pours them both a drink, and they sit and just talk. It's quiet, calm, and comfortable. All things Steve never would have assigned to Dustin Henderson, even ten years ago. But he's grown up, right before their very eyes.
Their kid.
He'll always be their kid.
7:45 PM
Robin's running around her kitchen, and it smells slightly of smoke, so as soon as they're in the door, they both step in to help her, so she doesn't actually burn the place down. She wanted to do dinner by herself this year, and they'd all agreed, but she's clearly in over her head.
"I just spilled on the burner! It's fine! Nothing's on fire!" she yells, and Steve picks up the smoke detector from the counter, that's clearly been yanked off the wall.
"I can confirm!" Robin's girlfriend yells from the other room.
And honestly? Steve thinks they're both right, taking a good look around the kitchen. It all looks really good. A huge mess, for sure, but damn good.
"It looks great, Robbie. You're killing it," Steve says, hugging her from behind, and she shrugs him off, still moving at warp speed around the kitchen.
When they head towards the table, Steve kisses Robin on the top of the head before taking his seat, "Thanks for going to all this trouble."
Robin just rolls her eyes.
11:54 PM
"Merry Christmas," Steve says, as Eddie slides into bed, flopping against his pillow, groaning at the simple pleasure of the act.
"I have one more present for you," Steve says, sliding his hand over Eddie's bare stomach, and that gets Eddie's attention.
"I'm listening…"
Steve laughs, and leans over, kissing him.
Notes: The idea came from the Gilmore Girls episode where they have to go to four Thanksgivings in one day. Then I was googling the spelling of Christmases (to make sure, ha) and realized there is a movie called Four Christmases. So, that too, I guess, lol.

DIAFU - Birthday Photo
Masterlist
Summary: Y/n's birthday party <3 This is before her and Rafe got together
Warnings: Language, drinking
Word Count: 624
It was your 19th birthday and you were so excited for a night out. Courtney had planned the whole night. She opted against throwing a rager and decided you, her, Rafe, Kelce, and Topper would have a fun night together instead.
They took you to The Cheesecake Factory. You were a sucker for a good slice of cheesecake. Of course, Courtney made a huge show of inviting all the waiters over to sing you happy birthday.
Your cheeks flushed pink as you giggled into your palm, fully embarrassed as the whole restaurant stared at you. Rafe pulled you into his side and smiled against your hair, shielding you from the sea of people drawn to the commotion.
"You're such a cunt!" You yelled at Courtney once all the waiters left. "You know I fucking hate that song."
"Exactly why I had to embarrass you!"
You giggled as you and Courtney downed another shot.
You weren't paying attention to the way Rafe was leaning against the palm of his hand, staring at you. The way your cheeks got rosier the bigger you smiled. The way you threw your head back when you laughed. You were so fucking pretty.
"Yo, Rafe!" Kelce said, snapping him out of his trance. "Get it together man. We're still going bowling."
Courtney stood up and pulled you with her out the double doors of the restaurant. Rafe was quick to follow you, Topper and Kelce behind him.
You stumbled as Courtney led you down the street. "Are we going bowling?!" You said excitedly.
"Of course we are, Sunflower! Gotta show these assholes your skills!"
"Rafeyyyy," You cooed in your tipsy state. "Hol' my purse, yeah?"
Rafe chuckled and took your purse from you. "Of course, sweetheart."
"Simp!" Topper yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth. You were too drunk to notice but Rafe turned around and gave him a pointed glare.
Once at the bowling alley, Rafe helped you out of your stilettos and helped you put on bowling shoes.
"Watch and learn boys!" You said before sending the ball down your lane, striking out instantly. "And that's how it's fucking done!" You cheer, throwing your arms in the air.
"I told you guys, she'll destroy you even if she's wasted." Courtney chuckled.
Everyone took turns rolling their ball down the lane as you all continued to take shots. You continued to strike out, making Topper and Kelce rather annoyed.
Rafe couldn't stop smiling as he watched you dance around with Courtney. The way you rubbed it in everyone's face that you were so much better at bowling. You were just so tipsy and happy and carefree and he was absolutely enamored with you.
"Rafeyyyy!" You cooed, plopping yourself in his lap.
"Hey, pretty!" He smiled, wrapping his arm around your back.
"Rafeyyyy, I'm beating youuuuu!"
He chuckled and leaned his forehead against yours. "You're just too good at this, baby girl..."
Your breath hitched at his words. Fuck, you wanted to kiss him. He was so pretty.
"Y/n! You're turn!" Topper yelled, completely snapping you out of the moment.
"Uhm, right! Coming!" You said as you got off Rafe's lap. The way he sighed in disappointment. Fucking Topper had to ruin it. Rafe could never get close enough to you.
You continued to bowl for another 30 minutes before you decided you were done and you had ultimately won all the games.
You and Courtney changed back into your shoes. "Y/n!" Rafe's voice cut through the air. You and Courtney both looked up right as the flash on his phone went off.
"Rafe, no!" You cried. "I wasn't ready!" You said as you tried to grab the phone from him. He held it over his head and you were far too short to ever reach it.
"I wanted a candid birthday photo!" He said, pulling you into his side.
"Rafe Cameron, I look bad!"
"Y/n Y/l/n, you look beautiful, always."

hello!
Could I maybe request a male reader x Aaron hotchner where r is a total ball of sunshine and the complete opposite of Aaron but he use to be in the army and as a result he lost his arm, so he has a prosthetic. basically, he’s meeting Aaron’s teammates for the first time and their shocked that Aaron is dating someone so sweet and are again shocked when they find out he use to be a military man? Cause he doesn’t seem like the type considering his personality? thank you :D
Hey Anon! Sorry for me taking absolutely too long to post this. You probably even forgot that you requested this.💀
AARON HOTCHNER X ex SOLIDER MALE READER
Aaron waits on the edge of the bed in deep thought while watching his boyfriend get dressed. "Aaron? Are you okay?" Y/n asks turning his body around facing his boyfriend.
"Yes. I'm just worried, but it's nothing." Aaron answers watching Y/n walk closer to him. "Is it about the dinner?" "Yes, but--" "Shhh. Don't worry about the dinner. It's nothing to stress about." Y/n says giving Aaron a light kiss on the forehead.
"But--" "No buts Aar. We have each other, so there's nothing going to be wrong at the dinner if we have each other back. So stop sitting on your ass and let's go!" Y/n cuts him off again before pulling Aaron off the bed.
"I'll go get jack!" Y/n tells him before walking out the room to go get the boy.
Aaron watches Y/n leave and takes a deep breath helping himself relax. "It's gonna be fine. We're gonna be fine." Aaron mumbles to himself before getting his keys and walks down stairs to the front door.
"Y/n! Make sure your arm is charged. You don't want it dying in the middle of dinner again." Aaron says watching Y/n come down stairs with his son in his arms. "You would never let that go." Y/n groans out rolling his eyes. "I can't it was our first date." Aaron bites back remembering how Y/n's prosthetic died right then they were gonna share their first kiss together.
"Right before I could finish the distance you pulled away like it was a mistake and I started to apologize, but you were just looking at your arm surprised. Then you look at me and say "My arm just died! What the hell!" Then we had just started at each other for a while---"
"Okay Aaron. I'm not trying to relive that humiliating moment." Y/n cuts him off with a giggle before helping jack put his shoes on.
"Everyone is ready?" Aaron asks earning a shout "yeah" from his son and a hum yes from Y/n. Aaron opens the front door letting Y/n pick up Jack and leave out the house.
Aaron looks around the house before leaving and shutting the door and locking it after him.
TIMESKIP at the restaurant.
As soon the small family reached outside the restaurant and stepped out of their car it was already an agent waiting for them. "Morgan. You didn't need to wait out here." Aaron says giving the male a small hug. "I know. I know, I just wanted to make sure you got here safe.
Jack wiggles out of Y/n's arms running to Morgan as fast as his little kid legs can carry him running into his arms hugging him. Y/n already felt out of place. Y/n watches the three of them act and his nerves begin to overcome him. Y/n wasn't scared just nervous. Derek looks over to Y/n giving him a bright smile before turning back around leading the family inside and into the restaurant.
"Found them!" Derek announces to the group who are already in their seats. All of their heads turn to greet Hotch and Jack, but with Y/n they'll give him a small smile and wave.
"Jesus..." Y/n mumbles to himself already feeling their little FBI eyes study him. "Hi everyone! Nice to meet you all." Y/n says finally deciding to act like himself shaking everyone's hand while exchanging their names. At the last agent Y/n puts his hand out smiling at them. "Hi my name is Y/n." "Penelope. Nice to meet you hun!" Penelope says with the biggest smile moving Y/n's hand out the way giving him a bone crushing hug.
The hug catches Y/n off guard a bit, but gives her a hug back with the same energy.
As everyone welcomes Y/n already treating him like family Y/n could feel someones eyes burning into his prosthetic arm. Y/n kept his prosthetic arm mostly stayed on his lap or side, but now he's flexing it showing off his "muscles." To Derek since Derek could tell Y/n was in great shape.
Y/n looks away from Derek moving his eyes to every single person on the table to figure out who the hell is staring at his arm so hard. It was Spencer. Y/n decided not to say anything only picking a fight if he voices the thoughts in his head.
Y/n begins to chat his head off with everyone. Every time he says something it would be with a smile. Y/n occasionally checks up on Aaron and Jack making sure they are comfortable and like their food. The team noticed everything about how Y/n acted his vibes were. He was such a sweet and kind person polar opposite of Aaron's cold and strict demeanor.
All the team was wondering "How the hell are these two dating." Or what Penelope is mostly thinking "How did Dark Vader and Rapunzel get together."
"Y/n, I have a personal question." Reid says catching Y/n's and the rest of the team's attention. Y/n had a burning feeling it was about his arm. A lot of people thought Y/n was spoiled and greedy for having a robotic arm. Y/n lets out a quiet sigh before saying.
"Yeah what is it?" with a smile on his face. "Why do you have a prosthetic."
"Oh well, because I lost my arm in war." Y//n answers simply knowing that he'll have to give more information. Y/n could tell everyone besides Jack and Aaron was shocked.
"What happened!" Emily asks choking on her drink a little.
"I saved some fellow soldiers. Someone had stepped on a land mine, so it was either someone take the hit or all die trying to run. I choose to the the bigger man and take it. Most would be dead or lose more than an arm, but I guess I had luck on my side that day. I got these great and cool medals for it." Y/n says still having the same smile on his face.
"But... I lost half of my stomach and some of my vision But I'm still alive and that's what it all matters."
"You don't look like and act like a military type kid." Rossi points out not trying to be rude.
"I know I get that a lot."
"Daddy! Tell us more stories!" Jack squeals happily remebering some of the kid version stories Y/n's past.
"Here we go." Aaron says with the largest smile he had in a while.

Maze runner chapter four.
Newt x fem reader.
Previous part.
“But why would Alby go into the maze? I mean, he's not a runner.” Thomas asked watching Alby and Minho leaving the Glade.
“Things are different now. Alby went to retrace Ben's footsteps before sundown. Are you gonna help?” Newt asked, he briefly looked over to you as you say down at the entrance, your tiger beside you.
“So he's gonna go back to where Ben was just stung-” Thomas asked.
“Alby knows what he's doing… all right? He knows better than any of us.” Newt said.
“What does that mean?”
“Well, it's like you have heard, yeah? Every month, the Box sends up a new arrival. But someone had to be first, right? Someone had to have spent a whole month in the Glade, alone. That was Alby and y/n,” they all looked over to you, “Just the two of them, with no memories and no idea what was happening to them. I mean, it can't have been easy but when those other boys started
coming up, one after the other they saw the truth. And they learned that the most important thing is that we all have each other Because we're all in this together.” Newt
As you waited others joined you. There was a feeling of unease and anticipation for Alby and Minho to come back.
Rain started to pour down and though the others hid away under the shelters you stayed at the entrance.
“Come on, guys, can't we send someone after them?” Thomas asked once they were back at your side
“That's against the rules. Either they make it
back or they don't. We can't risk losing anyone else.” Newt explained.
“There!”
“Wait, something's wrong.”
“Come on, Minho, you can do it!”
“Come on! Go!”
“Come on,”
“you can make it!”
“Minho, you gotta leave him!” Everyone was shouting at once as Minho tried to drag Albys's unconscious body with him.
Mai Mai teaters on the edge of the entrance unsure if she should move.
“They're not gonna make it.” You hear Thomas say beside you.
“You gotta leave him!” Someone shouted. It was as if they all became a million miles away all you can see is Thomas rushing forward as the doors begin to close. Mai Mai at his ankles. Your heart leaps into your throat and you grab onto Newt.
“Thomas, no!”
The doors slam shut and they are gone.
“No.” You run and pound your fists against the stone.
“Mai Mai!” You scream. Newt takes hold of your shoulders and you lean back into him, letting him guide you to the floor as you cry into him.
“Hey, Mai Mai is strong and quick. She won't let the Grievers get her.” He says tears welling in his own eyes.
“No, Newt she won't leave them. Minho and Alby she won't leave them.” You cried until you couldn't cry anymore. Your body exhausted you fall asleep in his arms. He carries you back to your shelter and tucked you below the sheets. Newt looks at the blanket on the floor where the Tiger normally napped, his heart breaking. Newt couldn't sleep well that night. Kept awake by your whimpers as you cried in your sleep. He could tell you were having another nightmare but he couldn't wake or sooth you.
At first light you woke with a start and reached out for Newt. He instantly pulled you against him once more.
“Did it really happen?” You ask not wanting to open your eyes. Newt kissed the top of your head.
“I'm sorry.”
From outside you hear the groans of the maze and the entrance opening up. Without pulling your shoes on you dart out and run down to them. Chuck was already standing there.
“I told you, Chuck.
They're not coming back. Let's go.” Gally tried to persuade the youngest boy.
“No way.” Newt said looking into the maze. Everyone turned to look.
Minho and Thomas were holding onto Alby who they'd thrown over Mai Mai's back. As they got into the Glade once more the others helped to pull Alby off and carry him to the medals.
“What happened out there?” Newt asked.
“How did you guys make it out?” Gally said.
“You saw a Griever?”
“Yeah, I saw one.” Thomas agreed.
“He didn't just see it. He killed it.” Minho said. You had dropped down beside Mai Mai and hugged her to you, kissing her head. The tiger shook her head and purred as you stroked behind her ear.
“Y/n?”
“Minho.” You sigh and grab him down to you. It felt like you hadn't seen him mk ths not hours.
Not long after Gally called you all.into a meeting.
“Things are changing. There's no denying that. First, Ben gets stung in broad daylight.
And then Alby.” Newt states to them all.
“And now our Greenie, here, has taken it upon himself to go into the maze. Which is a clear violation of our rules here.” Gally snaps.
“Yeah but he saved Alby's life.” Minho reminded him.
“Did he? For 3 years, we have coexisted with these things. And now, you've killed one of them. Who knows what that could mean for us.” Gally argued.
“What do you suggest we do?” You say sarcastically.
“He has to be punished.” He looked directly at you.
“Come on. He killed a Griever! Minho. You were there with him. What do you think?” Newt asks. Minho presses his lips together and thinks for a moment.
“I think, in all the time we've been here no one has ever killed a Griever before. When I turned tail and ran this dumb shank stayed behind to help Alby. Look, I don't know if he's brave or stupid. But whatever it is, we need more of it. I say we make him a runner.” You smile up at Minho.
“A runner? What?” Gally gawked.
“Minho, let's not jump the gun, here.”
Just as Gally is about to argue against the idea a loud horn interrupts him. Confused everyone darts outside.
“Okay, wait. I know that sound.” Thomas says.
“The Box. It's coming back up but it shouldn't be.” You say, seeing Newt reach the box he pulls open the grate and jumps inside
“Newt, what do you see? Do you see it?”
There is nothing in the box but a person, he looks up at you all.
“It's a girl.” he announces.
“What that in her hand?” you ask. He reaches down to pull the crumpled paper from her hand.
“She's the last one, ever.” He reads, what do suppo-”
He is cut off by the girl awakening quickly.
“Thomas” she calls out before passing out again. All the boys look at you for an answer.
“Get her to the med jacks.” You shrug

Winter/Christmas moments
A/N: Happy Holidays to those who celebrate! Here's some cute lil vibes for the season.
Masterlist
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
Jin: 👏Couples👏Pajamas👏. You both hate the cold, so you stay inside, tangled up on the couch under fluffy blankets(which you will have to fight him for or else he will hog them), watching old Christmas movies. When you notice him falling asleep on your shoulder, you can't help pressing a soft kiss to his check.
"You missed." He mumbles without open his eyes, puckering his lips at you.
"Needy baby." You chuckle, pressing another kiss to his lips this time.
"You're the baby." He argues unconvincingly.
"Yeah, okay."
Yoongi: Sleepy mornings where he refuses to let you out of the bed.
"Babe, c'mon!" You try to slip out of his hold, but he just pins your arms to your chest again, burying his face further in the crook of your neck.
"No." He grumbles, voice gravely from sleep.
"But it's Christmas!" You insist, giggling as he wraps himself around you even tighter.
"Exactly, so give me the gift of you being still, you're letting the cold air in."
Hobi: Going to pick out the 'perfect' Christmas tree, because it's the first year you actually get to spend the holidays together. You're all bundled up, hat pulled low over your ears, gloved hands stuffed in your pockets to try and fight off the chill as you trail after him through the maze of spruces and pines that all look the same to you.
"Can't we just get one of those nice artificial trees?" You ask wearily.
He whirls around with a gasp. "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that."
"But I'm freezing!"
"We're almost there," he insists, "I can feel it."
"That's what you said half an hour ago!"
He does eventually pick a tree and, despite your frozen toes, you have to admit it is perfect.
Namjoon: He's never really been the festive type, but one day that became one of his favorites almost by accident was Yule.
You found yourselves more or less stuck inside due to the weather and as the night quickly crept in, the two of you had spent most of your time just talking, musing on the sentiment of the season, a celebration of being half-way through the darkest part of the year.
"Today was perfect." He says as you lay on the sofa together.
"But we didn't do anything!" You question.
"Exactly." He sighs contentedly.
The constant rush had been forced to a stop but, with you, he didn't mind slowing down.
Jimin: The new years eve party you're at isn't that big, but it's still loud enough that you both find yourselves slipping outside for a moments peace so you can breathe.
"It's really pretty." You comment as you admired the twinkle lights decorating the house.
"It is." He agrees, struck by a sudden idea. He abruptly pulls you after him into the white blanketed yard before falling back into the snow.
"What are you doing?!" You laugh.
"Making snow angels, come on!" He giggles, pulling you down with him.
You can't help but join in his infectious laughter till you're laying breathless, staring over at him, feeling the cold beginning to seep in as everyone begins the count down to midnight.
"Happy new year." He presses a soft kiss to you hand that he's still holding.
"It is now."
Taehyung: Soft music, the scent of nutmeg, him being unnecessarily touchy as you're trying to make cookies together.
"Where's the- would you stop eating all the cookie dough!" You half scold, catching him sneaking his hand into the bowl for the nth time as he hugs your from behind.
"Oh, come on, just a taste?" He says suggestively, offering some to you.
"I know what you're trying to do." You say, taking hold of his hand as he guided it to you mouth.
"Yeah? Is it working?" He grinned.
"Nope." You chomp down on his finger lightly, earning a yelp from him.
Jungkook: The sky seemed brighter than usual after the grey snowclouds of yesterday as you and Jungkook walked along, shoes crunching softly in the new snow.
He reached for your hand, pulling you close as he smiled down at you. "You know I love you, right?"
"Yeah, why-" your sentence was cut short by the feeling of a handful of snow being slapped on the back of your neck.
You let out a screech as he cackled.
"Oh, you're dead." You quickly scoop up a handful of snow to return the favor, sending his sprinting away from you.
"I said I loved you!"
"I'm still gonna kick your ass!"
The battle is brief, but by the end of it you're both cold and wet, faces flushed from the chill but wearing big smiles.

A Typical Day in the Cul-De-Sac (Bikini Bottom Day Cover)
You ever wonder if Bikini Bottom Day was instead sung by the Eds and those in the Cul-De-Sac, than Spongebob and everyone in Bikini Bottom?
Edd: Oh, is it time to get up already? Well then, let's proceed...
Edd:
Time for waking up,
You know Eddy detests "waiting up"...
He'll expect Ed and myself--
Soon, so there's no time for me to dawdle...
Must have the proper attire,
Especially for running when it'll all backfire...
Unfortunately, scams--
Are always at the very top of our plans...
But even with our sadly lacked popularity,
Thanks to practices lacking morality,
There's nowhere I'd rather live,
Than my given privilege:
In the Cul-De-Sac,
Many memories are formed,
In the Cul-De-Sac,
You never know what's in store,
In the adventure that's--
Just a typical day in the Cul-De-Sac...
*Double Dee runs to Ed's house, who is standing there and smiling off into the distance*
Edd: Good morning, Ed.
Ed: Hi, Double Dee!
Edd: Ed, I'm engaging in a musical number, would you care to join?
Ed: Oh, oh, I want to sing, too!
Ed:
I had Chunky Puffs,
Along with gravy and other tasty stuff,
Until Sarah came,
And said, for no more soda, I am to blame,
Ed did not mean to be a bad big brother...
Edd:
She once again threatened to tell your mother?
Ed:
I said, "Don't tell Mom, Sarah,
Big Brother will have it taken care of!"
(In the Cul-De-Sac)
Sarah is telling Mom.
(In the Cul-De-Sac)
Oh no, Sarah told Mom...!!!
Ed and Edd:
It's another typical day in the Cul-De-Sac...!
*They run off together, passing by a bike-sat Kevin and bear-holding Jimmy. Sarah approaches the boys, as they all watch the "Eds" run off.*
Kevin: Dork alert...
Jimmy: Oh Sarah, I shudder greatly at the thought of how they'll create such a horrifying travesty today...
Sarah: Hmph, what'd we ever do to deserve the stupid crud they cause anyway...?
Kevin:
No matter where you go,
Those dorks are gonna show...
Jimmy:
For such a sensitive soul,
Their presence is quite the toll,
Sarah:
Yeah, those fatheads,
Always risk being dead!
Kevin, Sarah, Jimmy:
Probably will do a new scamming act,
A typical day in the Cul-De-Sac...
*Ed and Edd both run past Rolf, Nazz and Jonny next (Plank too).*
Nazz: Hey, guys!
Edd: Greetings, no time to chat, I'm afraid! Eddy's expecting us.
Ed: And I am expecting big trouble at home, as Sarah told Mom!
Jonny: Boy Plank, what do you suppose the Eds are up to this time?
Plank: ...
Jonny: Yep, whatever it is, it's sure to be exciting!
Rolf: Ah yes, one cannot expect the life of peace and solitude when the crazy Ed-boys run around.
Nazz: Yeah, but you gotta admit, it really does help liven things up around here.
Jonny: No kidding!
Jonny:
Oh boy, you're right, Plank,
They deserve some "thanks,"
Even if they give some headaches,
Nazz:
Without those dudes,
There'd be less to do,
Less entertaining shows to view...
Rolf:
Though crazy like chickens,
Rolf's still amused by shenanigans,
Of committed acts only an Ed-boy can,
Jonny:
Those guys are a real hoot!
Nazz:
Wonder what, today, they'll do...
Rolf:
Rolf hopes they won’t earn his beating shoe...
Nazz, Rolf, Jonny:
Whatever is their act,
Following excitement's a fact,
Whenever it's a day in the Cul-De-Sac!
Jonny: Take it away, Buddy!
Plank:
*Best solo ever*
*The Kanker Sisters are seen sneaking about, reaching a portion of fencing that Eddy's on the other side of with his latest scam: something under a tarp.*
Eddy:
"Another day,
Another nickel," they all say,
But what I say:
"'Days' are actually for quarters to be made..."
Lee:
There's one of them,
Soon, we'll have all of our men,
(And a weddin'!)
Another day of smooching,
Lovey-dovey schmoozing,
(We're already swooning!)
Eddy:
They say, "Money doesn't matter if you love your work,"
Ha! Who would say that? Probably some penniless jerk!
Lee:
Soon, wedding bells'll ring,
And we'll become a thing!
It's just a matter of time...
(In the Cul-De-Sac!)
Marie:
Till we're bound for life...
May:
Yeah, together every day and night!
Eddy and Kankers:
All part of a typical day in the Cul-De-Sac...
*Eddy looks over his shoulder, just as the Kanker Sisters duck down and out of sight. He shrugs, then glances around.*
Eddy: Boy, ain't that like Sockhead and Lumpy…? Keepin' a guy waiting, when he's got the best scam ever all set up.
Edd: As easily pleased as ever, huh, Eddy...?
Eddy: There you two are! What took ya?
Ed: I was eating breakfast, Eddy, and then Sarah--
Eddy: --Probably threatened to, "Tell Mom," over some stupid crud again, right? Yeah, yeah; details, details... Look, we got a whole lot ahead of us and we can't waste any more time here. I've finally come up with the perfect scam that'll drown us in jawbreakers!
Edd: No offense, Eddy, but you've made that claim with practically every scam as of late...
Eddy: Who are you: my recordkeeper or somethin'? Trust me, I know for sure it's gonna be true this time! After all...
*Eddy pulls the tarp away and reveals the new: "Ed-F-Ts" scam.*
Eddy: I hear people are paying big bucks to own pictures, parts of 'em and other stuff! So, I got a whole bunch of random pictures and other junk that I know people are gonna wanna own some of, if not all of it.
Edd: ... You can't be serious.
Eddy: Hey, I don't get consumer tastes, I just follow 'em for a quick buck!
Edd: Eddy, NFTs have long since died out, I'm afraid. Not only that, but I'm afraid it's a tad more complicated than random photographs you've cut up or entire pictures of... rocks. I'm afraid the argument can't even be made that these were well-shot...
Eddy: Who died and made you some fancy photograph expert? Besides, I'm still hearing about these stupid things, so there's still gotta be a whole bunch of people buyin' 'em! Oh, speaking of; look alive, boys, it seems our potential suckers are arriving...!
*Double Dee sighs, turning away.*
Edd:
I must admit,
My life isn't fully perfect...
I love jawbreakers,
But is this the best use of my inventive endeavors...?
Come on, Eddy, we're all wasting our full potential,
We should put our talents into things more worthwhile,
Think beyond money and sweets,
But what we could fully be...!
Eddy: Ya deaf or something, Sockhead? I said, we got customers coming!
Everyone:
Out of anywhere, we're lucky--
It's not out there, but here we--
In the Cul-De-Sac,
Can play and frolic, despite any havoc,
It's just a fact: no living space's just as apt,
It's a typical,
(Edd: Unpredictable,)
A regular,
(Eddy: A real money-maker!)
A splendid,
(Ed: My name is Ed!)
Day in the Cul-De-Sac!

Blind child chapter 5
(Tag @luimagines )
Malon reach her home and slip off her shoes easily to head to her bathroom so she can wash off this mud child. The blind child giggles the whole entire bathtime that malon is carefully wash off the mud off the child that malon now notice the child cloudy blue eyes and the scars covered the child body plus their mark of the Triforces. Malon is stud or shock to seen the child like this but the child not hearing malon start to grow nervous that they stop their giggles amd only their head is peeking out the warm water.
Child: malon?...
Malon comes put of it and she pull herself together and clear her throat.
Malon: sorry, I was in deep thinking there.
Child blink and their ears wiggle to hear malon voice and noises coming from downstairs on top of that.
Child: um papa and big brothers are inside malon.
Malon smile and reach in to pull the child out to put them on the floor then reach over to her side to get a towel for the child and wrap them up.
Malon: put my clothes from when I was your age will do, I need to have a quick chat with your group downstairs. Do you mind drying yourself?
The child have a smile to be in a warm towel but hear malon voice and nod too making their wet bangs moving to cover their eyes or stick out in random directions as malon smile, she get up and leave the room so she'll have a "good Chat" with the chain on what she found.
The chain clean up of mud and in spare clothes since their original clothes was dirty so they all have to wash them and let them dry for the time being are now inside and was going to relax and figure out on what to do next but a strong present had all the chain shivering with a new sense of fear and all nine heads turn to the direction we're this strong present is only to see malon at the bottom of the step that leads to now the chain in a row to each other side down on their knees being lowly chatting to the now mama bear malon.
Time try to open his mouth to speak but once he see malon look he snap his mouth shut and knew if he speak now malon will bite his head off.
Malon star at the chain that's on their knees infront of her but tiny footsteps from were the stairs at made malon end the chat as the chain and malon look to see the blind child walking down the stairs steps hold onto the railing too. Time notice that the child is wearing malon old clothes from went she was young and once the child is at the bottom of the steps they lift their ears to listen to were they are and time clear his throat.
Time: we're over here child.
Child walk over and reach out infront to to make sure they don't bump to anything so time lift his hand up his hand just in time for the child fingers to touch time hand and stop but the child look confused on their face.
Child: time, how do you get this small?
Time: we are on our knees is all.
Child even more confused ask time why but time can't answer since malon still there and clearly in her grizzly bear mode so wind dare to speak.
Wind: we're trying to see who's the closest to your height?
Child: really?...is it a game?
Wind: sorta child.
Lucky for them the child believes them and they go down the line of the chain with help of each of them. Child goes on their knees by wind side and turn to look at the chain.
Child: am I the closet to my height?
The chain and malon felt like their got stab in the hearts by the child's adorable and innocently that the older chain members have to hold themselves together to not crumble to the child innocent malon on the other hand walk over to were the child is and she knee down and she hug them.
Malon: your so adorable! Your so precious!
The child giggles in malon warm hug as the chain relax to know that this chat is over and wild get up to go to the kitchen to cook and soon everyone get up to do their own thing but they know that malon will put them all to work and oh boy she did just as that. Half a hour in the chain that are outside are working hard on the farm work.

Wind was supposed to get eggs from the cocos but the cocos not letting sky do that so wind returns covered in chicken feathers making sky laugh his butt off as malon, wild are cooking the child was outside exploring the property but are within seeing range of the chain to collect sticks so the chain or malon won't have to for later. The child walk around the edge of the gate wall of were they keep the horses at bent down to grab sticks til the child hear what sounds to be a bell noise and stand up to turn their head to the direction we're they heard it and title their head a bit.
The child waited for the noise but hear nothing and the child frown thinking their mistaken it and place their other hand back on the gate wall to walk again. Once the child back to the door of the gate the child hear a chicken cluck and it sound like it's right next to them. The child carefully put the sticks to the ground and sit down too then slow move their hands to were they still hear the clucks of the chicken and the chicken let the child touch them. The child does know that the chicken their touching is a blue chicken and the child Humming to touch the chicken and is happy til the chicken move to sit on the child lap but the child hear more clucks of chickens and suddenly nearly all the chicken from the chicken pit are all over the child even the child feel overwhelmed that they let out a yelp.

Wind shiver to hear how scared the child is building up his courage or daring he walk through the chickens nearly making all the chickens angry but once wind is infront of the blind child he help them up and shoo the chickens still but the chickens let out a loud noise and wind knew what that means so he pick up blind child and ran away like a madman as the angry chickens chase after them.
Twilight walking back to the house to stop midwalk to see a basket full of eggs and bend down to pick up the basket to check it but hears a noise and look behind him to see wind running yet carry the blind child. Twilight tiles his head confused on why til they ran by him and he look back to see the angry chickens that twilight knew right then why the two are running and ran to away too from the chickens and use his other hand to pick up wind to not letting the two go.
Twilight: wind! What did you do to those chickens!?
Wind: they had blind!! Blind got overwhelmed by the chickens and!-
Twilight reach the house and the door open by wild making Twilight go inside as wild look back outside to see why and slam the door shut so the chickens don't come inside. Malon on the other hand comes put the kitchen to see twilight and wind panting as blind still in wind arms but they don't know what to do but petting wind and apologize to him.
Malon raise a eyebrown and look to wild as in what happen but wild point to the door as sound of angry chickens and malon nod to now understand.
Malon: wind, why you?-
Wind: not *pant* my fault *pant* I swear on my life.
The blind child hear and frown to cause their big brother trouble that their ears pin down to show that their sad.
Child: I'm sorry-
Wind hug the blind child and wind seen their frown so he wanted to cheer them up yet they look so sweet and adorable that he couldn't help it.
Wind: it wasn't your fault child. You're overwhelmed by those chickens. Plus I'm your big brother, it's my job to look after my cute little sibling.
Twilight finally got his breath and get up to hand malon the basket of eggs and he walk over to the two to see wind being soft on blind that he felt a bit jealous and gently grab the blind child to hold them in his arm and walk away as wind yell out a loud hey while blind child blink to be suddenly taken out of wind arms and wiggle their ears to hear the door open and close now that they know their outside again but hear no chickens.
Twilight: I need your help with something child okay?
The child look to were twilight is and nod but twilight try not to melt to see the child so tiny in his arms and continue to walk to the direction of the barn tho twilight didn't feel bad for steal the child from wind but jealous is a reason and a mess thing. Once at the barn were time and warrior are sitting down on some boxes to rest up and the two turn their heads to see twilight enter with the blind child in his arms and the two have a feeling of jealous start to raise up but held back since their mature adults here.
Warrior: what was those noises about twilight?
Twilight shortly explain what happened while set the blind child down on their own two feet and the child blink owly and explore the inside of the barn in one direction as time watch with curiosity but let them be since there isn't anything too dangerous in the barn since he and the other two boys move everything from before.
Eventually twilight, warrior and time get back to work and blind child explore the barn their in til they stop to feel wood wall of the barn walls and use it as a guild to map out the barn in their head til they stop to remember that twilight ask him for help but twilight forgot to tell them and they look confused.
Child try to go back but hear a huff and a hoofs patting that the blind child look in the direction not realizing that twilight Epona is right next to them.
Child: who?
Epona lightly tap the child head with her nose to wanting pets from her masters cute little silbing but she knows to be gentle since this child eyes are blind and already loves this child and once the child soft hand is on her nose, she's over the moon about it and nyan happily to have the child touch and full on attention.

Chapter 1:
"You truly have no idea
How long I've waited for you."
———
This is my first chapter so please be kind, I’m still figuring out what writing style I prefer. I hope you enjoy!! <3.
3.3k
The morning of your first day wasn't very different from your typical routine. You woke up and brushed your teeth. Played music while you took a shower and got dressed. Your cat was sitting at the bathroom door waiting for food when you got out. You filled her bowl and gave her water quickly. Then, you grabbed your bag and keys and slid on your shoes at the door.
You were able to get to your local cafe quickly. Luckily, traffic didn't seem to be crazy. You had enough time to grab matcha and a croissant and sit down for a bit before you needed to get going to work.
You had to get to the FBI headquarters for the first day of your new job.
After years of hard work, being called a genius, getting PhDs, and studying, you were finally where you wanted to be. The FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit.
During the drive, you played music quietly to fill the silence. The upbeat melodies helped to distract you from the waves of nervousness filling your chest. Instead of paying attention to how big this opportunity was, you focused on humming the vocals of the song. If you stressed yourself out before you'd even gotten there you would surely end up making a fool of yourself.
—
When you got to the headquarters, you made a beeline to the BAU. The receptionist was polite and happy to tell you where to go and wished you congratulations on the new job. The job itself was an incredible opportunity, even with your intelligence, and you'd be damned if you made a bad impression by being late on your first day. Which is why you'd rushed through a bit of your morning routine.
You walked through the doors of the BAU and up to the office with the name card that read 'Aaron Hotchner.' You knocked and waited, "Come in." You opened the door slowly and stepped into the room with the same pace. "Agent Hotchner? Hi, I'm Aaliyah Hathins, we spoke on the phone."
He looked up from his papers and gave you a polite smile. "Just Hotch is fine, it's very nice to meet you in person." He stood and motioned for you to take a seat. "The same for me, it's nice to be here. Thank you, again, for this opportunity."
He laughed, "No, it's my pleasure. You'll be an incredible asset to the team. I hope you like it here. You'll find that we're all very close-knit, we're like a family so you should be able to have constant support. Especially given your, unique history, I thought that would be important to you."
"It is actually, thank you." He nodded and it was quiet for a moment before Hotch spoke up again, "So would you like to meet the team now?" You smiled brightly, "Yes, if that's okay." Hotch stood up and waited behind the now-opened door. "Of course. Down those steps." You walked behind Agent Hotchner once you got down the stairs. Nerves were bubbling into your chest again but you reminded yourself to breathe.
"Can I have everyone's attention please? As of today, we have a new member joining the team. If you'd like to introduce yourself?" The last sentence was directed at you as Hotch turned to face you himself. "Uh, yes. Hi everyone. I'm Dr. Aaliyah Hathins, I hope we can all get along well since... Spencer?"
A tall brunette man turned around and you came face to face with the grown-up version of a boy you knew years ago. A smile started to grow on both of your faces. "Since we'll be working together, sorry. Uh, yeah." Spencer made his way towards you with a grin larger than any of the team members had seen in nearly weeks.
When he reached you, Spencer wrapped you in a tight hug. "I missed you. So much." You held onto him just as tightly, "I missed you too, Spence." The two of you broke away from the hug awkwardly as you realized you were still in the workplace. A tall dark-skinned man was the first to speak, "You two know each other?" His eyebrows were furrowed in interest.
You and Spencer both nodded excitedly. "Since we were kids. We grew up together, even went to the same high school." The faces of the other team members looked like combinations of confusion, amazement, and just pure shock. "Wait if you two went to the same high school, and pretty boy here is 23, how old are you?"
You playfully nudged Spencer with your shoulder, "Pretty boy, Spencer? Really? Um, I'll be 21 in a few months." The group surrounding you went from shocked to dumbstruck by the new information. "You're 20?" You nodded and laughed a little.
The colorful blonde woman to the right of the man who'd spoken before chimed in, "You must be smarter than boy genius! Are you smarter than Reid?"
"Since we were kids." You found it very funny that none of their faces had dropped the surprise. "I'm Penelope. They mostly call me Garcia, but you can call me Pen, or G, or just Penelope. It's really nice to meet you." The woman went to shake your hand but you flinched. "Sorry, our brains aren't the only thing we have in common. Germaphobes."
Penelope kept smiling even after you refused her handshake, "No biggie! We've all gotten used to keeping our hands off of Reid, what's one more?"
The man from before raised his hand in a wave, "I'm Derek Morgan." You smiled at him kindly. The other team members took their turns introducing themselves before Reid spoke up for the first time in a while. "There's another team member, his name is Jason Gideon. He works with us like everyone else but he doesn't generally come into the office early unless he has to. He'll typically get here later than everyone else and stay in his office until there's a case. You know, I think you'd like him, he has this incredible way of-"
"Who's this?" An older man stepped up to the group. "I'm Dr. Aaliyah Hathins, sir." The man nodded, "Jason Gideon. You're the new hire Hotch was talking about, right? High IQ, excellent memory, all that. The one he referred to as a second Reid?"
You laughed a bit awkwardly, "I suppose so, yes." He nodded again before just walking away. Probably going to his office like Reid had described. Derek started to apologize for him but you stopped his condolences, "No, I like him."
"Where is Hotch finding you guys?" You and Reid answered, "Las Vegas, Nevada." Derek laughed like he wasn't genuinely expecting you to answer his question.
—
You and the team were all in a briefing when Emily walked out. You heard her say something about her mother. Soon after, Hotch and Emily were pulled out of the room to talk to a woman.
Straight into a case, then.
—
Everyone watched as the Agent picked up the severed finger and placed it into the bag. Just when they did, one of the women started crying for the ring hysterically. "She wants his wedding ring." Once Hotch gave the okay for them to leave the cooler, they calmed down.
Spencer walked up to the younger woman with the paper, "This note's in Russian, I need to know the exact text." Her response was quick. "Wire $100,000 to Nadka Bank, account number 155293846729 by tomorrow noon. If you don't, you will receive another body piece then another, and every six hours after."
She didn't even look a second time. Reid spoke out about what you'd noticed. The note was long, not personalized, no mention of police. They had Penelope try to find a link between the information. She found one between the account number and the bank but there was no name. "We'd have to call the bank directly," she said.
"No way. There's no way a Russian bank is going to give information on personal accounts." She sounds right.
"I can make some calls. I may still have some friends in the Eastern countries." The woman, the ambassador, left the room.
"We don't have much time, we need a division of labor. Um, Morgan, somebody needs to go to the Chernus' house in Baltimore in case they are contacted again. Hathins, you go with him." The younger Russian woman, Natalya, decided to go with you and Derek, her mother and Prentiss stayed behind.
—
The jet ride would be quick. Nonetheless, you found yourself talking to Spencer and Morgan. "So, smarter than pretty boy, huh?" You laughed quietly. "Yeah, higher iq, better memory, multilingual, I'm basically Spence 2.0." Spencer hit you softly in mock offense, "Okay, the only reason I didn't learn a third language is because you'd suggested it'd be a waste of my time."
"It would. I'd end up being more fluent regardless, Spencer. You sound like you're reading from a Spanish dictionary when you try to speak the language." Both you and Morgan laughed. "So what do you got then? Iq, memory, languages? What are they?" You smiled and glanced from Spencer to Morgan. "I have an Iq of 198. I have Hyperthymesia and just a generally above average memory. As for languages, I speak English, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Arabic, and French."
Derek looked at Spencer, "Hyper-what now?" Spencer answered for you, "It's the ability to remember generally every detail of your own life with great precision." You were about to initiate another conversation but heard Gideon say something about a briefing.
When the flight was nearly over, you moved to sit at the table with Morgan and Gideon as Reid did. "She doesn't look scared." You glanced in her direction and noticed how she checked her watch. "She looks pretty calm, honestly." Gideon spoke after you, "She's a tough girl. When we get to the house, take her inside. Profile the rooms while you profile her."
You nodded and sat quietly until the plane landed.
—
"Why are they just standing around?" Derek answered her questions while you kept looking around the room. You listened in on the conversation but focused more on looking at the house and her behavior. Morgan was more conversational than you anyway. "My father never really believed, even with Democracy, that Russia could ever change. He was right. What he didn't expect was that it would allow criminals to follow."
"They prey on us here," she said. Derek spoke, "In America, they can only hurt you if you're afraid to ask for help."
"Is that really true?" "Most of the time." Bullshit.
—
You were inside the house when you heard the door open. Once you went to look you saw that it wasn't Derek who'd walked out of the door. "Morgan!"
"You! Where's my father?" You ran to grab her quickly. She kept pulling away until Morgan blocked her from the people in front of her. "Wait a minute! Do you know he has your father?"
"He's responsible for all this. Why everyone's afraid. Him and his animals." The man did look suspicious, you'd give her that. "I'm only here to help." She yelled back, "Help? You're a dog." You looked back at him, "Natalya."
The man started walking toward Natalya and spoke in Russian. "What did he say? Did he threaten you, Natalya? Talk to us and we can do something about it. What did he say?" She looked at Derek, "He said I made the wrong decision. I hope I didn't." That's a bit of a simplification though.
"Uh, Agent Gideon? I know what they said." He furrowed his brows, "Go ahead."
" 'Natalya. You didn't have to bring outsiders. Let me help you.'
'My family will never come to you for help. Get away from my house.'
'You are not right, Natalya.
You have made the wrong decision.'
There'd be no reason to lie or cut off information unless she was hiding something. I mean, 'You are not right?' I feel like there has to be something deeper."
Gideon nodded, "Good work. You and Morgan keep an eye on her."
"Natalya? Natalya?" She stepped out of a hallway, "You alright?" "In two hours, if we don't send someone money we don't have, my father will be mutilated again, so, no, I'm not really alright."
I watched silently as Morgan explained the information he'd found about their family. The more Morgan said, the more bothered she looked. You could be wrong but it looked like she was offended at the statements that showed her lack of wealth. Wanting money and wealth is only natural, but she seemed to take it more personally than that.
If you were being honest, you were more suspicious about her than the man she'd been pointing fingers at.
—
"Derek, I think she's involved." He turned to face you but you didn't look him in the eye. "Look around. What do you see?" He glanced at the room, "Family that's not close. Probably close to poor."
"Right. Now think about Natalya's behavior. Think about when you were telling her what you'd found. Did you notice how she looked offended by any statements you made that shed light on the truth about her so-called wealth? When she talked about her family she was distant, it was like she didn't care. Even if your family dies while you're young, it doesn't just stop affecting you."
You looked at Derek, "Not only that, it's something Lysowsky said. When he was in front of the house earlier, he said, 'You are not right, Natalya.
You have made the wrong decision.' Does that seriously sound like a mobster threatening someone to you?"
"You really think she's a part of this?" You nodded once, "I do."
You and Morgan were still looking around when Natalya came back into the room. "Are you hungry? I could make something."
"No thanks, I'm fine." "No, thank you." She sat down, "I guess I'm like my mother. When she's upset, she cooks." Derek laughed, "Really? Yeah, mine does, too. I think that's just a mom thing." She smiled, "Where is your mother?"
"Chicago. That's where I'm from." She looked at you, "Yours?" You hesitated, "Uh, we're not in contact." Your excuses were interrupted by a knock at the door. "Were you expecting someone?" She shook her head. Derek went to check the door.
It was just a kid. "It's Uri. He lives down the street." She opened the door, "A man said to give this to you." "What?" The kid handed the box to her, "He said you needed it right away." She opened the box to a severed ear covered in blood. "Get in the house, get in the house!"
You pulled the woman and child behind you and stood watch while Derek ran outside. You watched him look around but there was nobody either of you could see.
—
"They didn't wait, man!" I stood in the living room with Derek while he called Gideon. Natalya was still crying in the bathroom. After hanging up, Derek went to comfort her and I walked behind him. "Natalya? Listen, I know it feels like it might be too late, but Gideon thinks we're onto something." Nothing.
"Wait, Derek, she's not making any noise." He tried the doorknob but got no answer. He started to break the door down when we heard a car start. You both tried to get there in time but she'd already taken off.
"Damnit," Morgan called one of the team members and you both rushed to a restaurant she'd apparently walked into. When you got to the restaurant Natalya was already getting into a car and driving away. "What are we doing? We're just going to let her go with him?" Reid looked at him, "What choice do we have, man?"
"Oh so, what? We get on a plane, we go home, we pretend nine of this happened?" I looked at Derek, "There's a victim who claims no crime has occurred."
"Now we have a daughter of a victim who claims the crime never occurred." Reid spoke again, "Well, if she says that she talks to him and he's okay, then what proof do we have that it even happened?"
The body parts. "Where's the ear?" Oh for fuck's sake. "Natalya has it." We drove back to the house and Derek went in to look for Natalya. "She's not here. And the garbage was never taken out."
"What?" "When Hotch first talked to us, he said she noticed her father's car in the driveway when she took the garbage out. The garbage can in the kitchen is completely full, she never took it out."
—
"So we have a daughter who lied about how she discovered the crime, none of the missing body parts to prove anything actually happened, and a generic ransom note that mentions no names." "So what are we saying?"
"Natalya was a part of this." Derek sighed and shook his head, "You were right." Spencer and Gideon looked at him. "What do you mean?"
"Earlier. Hathins told me she thought Natalya was a part of it. I didn't call it in because I wasn't a hundred percent. Why would she even bring us into this?" Morgan got interrupted by a phone call. "Garcia just got into the bank's system. Somebody wired $500,000 into the account 10 minutes ago."
"Who wired it?" "She didn't say where it came from,
but the name on the account is Lyov Fulenko. She said that's Lysowsky's wife's maiden name. Fulenko." Gideon spoke quietly, "Why did she need to bring us into it? Because she needed to put pressure on the other victim."
Gideon walked away and to another house in the neighborhood. You all watched as he spoke to them. Soon enough he turned around and you all were rushing back to the restaurant.
Lysowsky didn't deny paying the ransoms, but he refused to tell us why. "I think I know." You all stopped talking to let Spencer explain, "The account is in the name of Lyov Fulenko. Lyov is a man's name. A son's name. Vory v Zakone. Never have a family of your own. No wife. No children."
"Lyov. Do you know what it means? The lion. I knew when the first man was taken. I knew who had done it. No one else would be so bold and so stupid." Gideon tried to get the man back on track but you had to listen to the story as he ignored the questions.
He sighed, "Chernus will be home in a few minutes. You should be there. He's going to need medical attention. Go. Go." Gideon stood but stopped, "What are you going to do?"
"Vory v Zakona. We take care of our own troubles."
—
The drive to the house was stressful. How could you even know if he was telling the truth? Still, you held your breath as you pulled into the neighborhood. When you saw a man wrapped in a blanket, presumably Natalya's father, you were quick to act. While Gideon talked to the man, Spencer opened the door and you moved into the very back so he could sit.
—
After you'd gotten the family back together, Hotch sent you all home. While you were grabbing your things from your desk to take home, Spencer walked up to you. "Hi." His smile looked so soft in the dark lighting. "Hi. Are you heading home already? Thought a genius like you would stay late."
He chuckled, "Normally I do, but I feel like I'm responsible for making sure you get home safe." You grabbed your phone and now-full purse off of the desk and turned towards the door. "C'mon then, pretty boy. I'll give you a ride to your place."

Honorable Mention:
"We're going to help you, together. Everyone is. When you reach for your shoes, your shoes will be there. When you walk through a doorway, the door will be open. Where you go, the floor will continue under your feet. Every move you make, will be made valid. Everything you see will become real. Everything you say will become the truth. Your turn."
from Petscop 22
The grip Petscop had on me is very real, of course this is an honourable mention!

Project Sunrise: Journal Entry.
"People like to say we're living in an age of peace. Sometimes I wonder if that's true or if everyone is just blind to things that may be boiling beneath the surface. Perhaps it's ignorance, perhaps people are just content to believe everything is ideal. After all, it's been ages since Apricus saw any sort of major conflict right?"
"Sure, chimera attacks still happen occasionally but with the advancements the bureau has made, there may be a hope of one day reaching that blasted facility and putting an end to it all for good. Still, any solider will tell you we aren't the only ones that advanced. Those chimeras aren't like the past generations, those things are smarter. They learn just as we do."
"Still, we should all be happy right? Apricus has been chosen to host the upcoming world summit. So many nations out there have new leaders, guess it's time for everyone to get together and pretend to like each other right? Mayor is doing their best make sure everything is ready, council is bickering over what kind of celebrations we should have, everything as it should be."
"Maybe I'm just old but part of me is just worried. I've lived through enough attacks, invasions, and creation knows what else to tell you sometimes the worst part is..well look around you. Nothing has happened in ages, nothing to concern yourself with right? Have you ever been in the forest when everything goes silent? Everything is just..quiet..but your body suddenly panics, you have this urge to run. In my experience, everything being quiet doesn't mean everything is peaceful."
"I shouldn't think that way though. New generation has things covered far better than we ever did. Even if it pains me to admit it. Even if something happens, it'll get shut down quick and everything will just go back to normal. Bah, don't know why I'm writing these damn things. Doc said these journals might help with some of the issues. Doc also might be full of shit, never can tell."
"New director over at the Evergreen Theater is supposed to be unveiling a new play later today. Curious what the kid has cooked up, he's got big shoes to fill. Maybe I'll go and have a look."
"Better than sittin through another one of Windsor's lectures on Awakened Powers. Sure that man may have made some developments over the years but does that mean he deserves a weekly tv program? Anyway I'm done with this thing for now."

You ever make a playlist for your writing project-in-progress? How about making a playlist for your OTP? I did both at the same time, and because I no longer have any shame, I'm going to share it here for everyone's enjoyment. Click above to listen, click below to read through what songs are on it.
"Love to Be Loved" by Peter Gabriel
And I let go.
I can let go of it.
Though it takes all the strength in me,
And all the world can see
I'm losing such a central part of me,
I can let go of it.
You know I need it!
You know I need it!
I recognize how much I've lost,
But I cannot face the cost,
'Cause I love to be loved.
"Love Like You" by Rebecca Sugar
I always thought I might be bad.
Now I'm sure that it's true.
Because I think you're so good,
And I'm nothing like you.
Look at you go, I just adore you!
I wish that I knew
What makes you think I'm so special.
"One Caress" by Depeche Mode
When you think you've tried every road,
Every avenue,
Take one more look at what you found old,
And in it, you'll find something new.
Oh, girl,
Lead me into your darkness!
When this world is trying its hardest to leave me unimpressed,
Just one caress
From you, and I'm blessed.
"What Can I Do For You?" by Rebecca Sugar (I think... I know she wrote a lot of the music for Steven Universe but idk about this song specifically)
Human man, you are so much fun!
I hadn't planned on finding you quite so entertaining.
I like your band, I like your song.
I like the way human beings play.
I like playing along!
"Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses" by U2
You're an accident waiting to happen.
You're a piece of glass left there on the beach.
Well you tell me things I know you're not supposed to,
And you leave me just out of reach.
Who's gonna ride your wild horses?
Who's gonna drown in your blue sea?
Who's gonna ride your wild horses?
Who's gonna fall at the foot of thee?
"Judas" by Depeche Mode
You can fulfill your wildest ambitions,
And I'm sure you will lose your inhibitions.
So open yourself to me,
Risk your health for me,
If you want my love.
"Song For Someone" by U2
You let me into a conversation,
A conversation only we could make.
You break and enter my imagination.
Whatever's in there, it's yours to take.
I was told I'd feel nothing the first time.
You were slow to heal,
But this could be the night.
"Cosmonauts" by Fiona Apple
When I met you, I was fine with my nothing.
I grew with you and now I've changed.
What I've become is someone I can't be without your loving.
Be good to me; it isn't a game.
Now let me see, it's you and me,
Forgive a good God.
How do you suppose that we've survived?
Come on, that's right, left, right,
Make lighter all the heavier,
'Cause you and I will be like a couple of cosmonauts.
Except with way more gravity than when we started off.
"Someone Who Loves Me" by Sara Bareilles
Surrender's just a word 'til you try it out,
And see how hard it is to hurt with someone else around.
I'm the worst I've ever been,
Afraid of almost everything.
The skies are clear, but storms are always coming.
Your gift to me is just to be
Bracing for the winds I always summon.
My home, my heart- thank God you are
Someone who loves me!
"Absolute Beginners" by David Bowie
I've nothing much to offer.
There's nothing much to take.
I'm an absolute beginner,
And I'm absolutely sane.
As long as we're together,
The rest can go to hell.
I absolutely love you,
But we're absolute beginners.
With eyes completely open,
But nervous all the same.
"All That" by Sparks
All the smiles and all the frowns
And all the ups and all the downs
And all the fears that you would soon be gone.
You ignore my gaping flaws,
And I see you, and I'm in awe.
And look outside, it's very nearly dawn.
I can't believe my luck in meeting you!
Hey, help me out, I can't find my left shoe.
#SF: ALS#zink#ziggyfloyd#playlist#yes it gets very sappy towards the end#yes there are too many U2/Depeche Mode/Steven Universe songs on it#fun fact i used to have a whole narrative about the entire Songs of Faith and Devotion album that i then applied to this ship but no one#wants to hear about that#you can imagine most of these songs as occurring from either of their perspectives imo

Blood and Feathers
Kinktober 2022
Harpy! Keigo/Hawks x Reader
TW: Stalking, Death, Mutilated body, Blood, Predator vs. Prey Dynamics, Chase, Monster(Harpy).
Hiking wasn't something you were too fond of. Especially when it came to terrain like this. Rocky, heavily covered by trees, and animals that were ready to kill you at any moment. Nevertheless, here you were. Hiking up the side of a mountain to get an excellent view for your campsite. All for your friend's birthday. She had begged everyone for an experience over a gift. Wanting to make memories together rather than simply spending money on something. You'll admit, a good idea if not for the fact she forgot you and most of your friends weren't as athletic as her. That you guys weren't as experienced as her when it came to hiking and camping. Yet, none of you had the heart to explain it to her when she told you about this hiking trip a few weeks ago. All you guys could do was hope that she'd pick an easy trail. A hope that was squashed when the car pulled up to the bottom of the mountain.
"Claudia, how much longer till we're at our campsite?"
It was Louis, he sounded out of breath. A feeling all of you could relate to. It felt like hours had gone by like this mountain was never-ending. The worst was that the trees had become so dense. You guys could only catch a glimpse of how far the top was every so often.
"Just a bit more."
"You said that an hour ago."
"I mean it this time."
"Can we please take a break?"
Another one of your other friends was barely able to walk anymore. Forgetting to bring proper hiking shoes.
"Fine."
Everyone slumped down at Claudia's words. Thankful to have any bit of rest they could get. It was amazing to see how Claudia could just keep going. Barely having any sweat on her. Acting as if she was on a causal stroll and not hiking up a giant mountain that seemed to not have an end.
"Uh, just be careful. The area surrounding the campsite have some animals that sometimes attack. So stay in the group and on that path."
"Like foxes."
Claudia gave Louis a look as if to say 'yes I'm giving you this warning for foxes'. Everyone else knew she probably meant bears or mountain lions.
The break was cut short, Claudia kept you guys moving again. Wanting to get to the campsite before night. Once again bringing up the danger of the animals. She seemed oddly worried about the mountain. As if the animals would really be willing to attack such a large group of people. Then again, she was the wildlife expert out of the group.
"Umm, how safe is the campsite if this mountain is crawling with animals?"
"They seem to stay away from the campsite. According to the rangers, they associate the campsite with people after all these years so they stay away." Claudia gave Austin a smile before turning around to look at Louis. "Though local legends says how there's this giant bird-like creature that lives at the very top that scares the animals off. Feeding on anything it can find."
Claudia couldn't help but laugh. Seeing Louis look so scared obviously made her happy. While the rest of you felt pity for him and wondered how the hell you guys managed to get roped into this.
It wasn't long until your group reached the campsite. Claudia was finally right about it not being far off. Half the group fell to the floor. Exhausted from the hike. Yet as Claudia began to unload the tents. They realized there was still much more to do. Which took over an hour due to none of you, but Claudia knowing how to pitch a tent. Luckily the sun seemed to have sympathy for you. Staying in the sky till you guys had shelter. The fire followed soon behind. After some time relaxing and catching your breath. You could admit, Claudia was right. The view from the campsite was spectacular. Looking down the side of the mountain, seeing the tops of the trees. Then the lights at the bottom of the mountain. Probably from the few shops and houses you guys had passed. They seemed a lot further than you thought. How far had you guys gone from the local road?
"Hello"
The new voice broke you out of your admiration. Turning around you noticed it was a ranger.
"Who here is Claudia?"
The ranger looked over Claudia's ID, going over the paperwork and protocol. Fire safety, what to do in an emergency, and animal safety.
"Just a word of advice. Stay away from the wooded areas right before and after dusk. Some of the animals get pretty bold around that time."
The look on poor Louis' face. It was clear camping wasn't his thing. Being out in nature in general seemed to be something he wasn't too fond of.
After the ranger left, your group decided to have a late night. Cooking dinner on the fire. Having a few drinks and sharing some stories. It had been a while since the group had been able to come together like this. All busy with your own lives, school and jobs. It was nice to finally catch up. Even if you guys had to lose your body weight in sweat getting up the mountain in order to do so.
"How'd you find this place? It's pretty far from the city."
You were curious. You knew Claudia went hiking and camping a lot as a child, but she never mentioned doing it this far out from your city.
"Oh, my mom's friend used to live in the town at the bottom and she was there the last time I visited home. Talking about selling her parent's home near the mountain and got me thinking. Why not go camping."
"Well, she wasn't wrong. Even I have to admit the view is nice." Louis agreed.
"However, it was the stories she told that made me want to come. She was the one that told me about the local stories about the giant bird."
"Oh God no." Louis couldn't have a moment of peace with Claudia.
"Apparently, centuries ago the town used to have to hunt them. The monster would fly into town and steal sheep, cattle and even kids. Leaving the bones in its nest and along the mountain."
"Well, there goes my sleep tonight."
You knew poor Louis wouldn't be able to get much sleep tonight. Not at the thought of something lurking in the trees. His own shadow scared him, let alone the idea that things would be watching him if he went out for a pee at night.
The next few days went well. You guys were able to hike a bit higher up the mountain. Making it to a hidden waterfall. It wasn't huge, but it was gorgeous. Mossy rocks frame the waterfall. Large oak trees completely surrounded it, creating some shade both in and out of the water. The leaves were beginning to turn red. Odd as it wasn't autumn, rather it was still far off. But you couldn't deny how beautiful it looked.
The water wasn't too deep in most areas. Allowing you guys to stand and swim. Yet, of course, Claudia, Sarah and Avi managed to find deep enough areas for them to jump into. Climbing as high as they could before jumping off. There was no one else around. Letting you guys enjoy this marvel all to yourselves. You'd come every day for the few days that you were there. Stay for a few hours, swim, wander, and sunbathe in the small areas where the sun showed.
It wasn't until the second day that things felt different. The area was still as beautiful, yet it felt different. Which didn't make sense. The water was the same, and the trees were still covering most of the falls. Everything was technically the same, but it wasn't. It felt different, you felt uneasy. It was unexplainable. The feeling got worse as the days went on. You assumed perhaps it was someone watching you guys. That there was another campsite nearby and they were watching. But when you asked Claudia, she stated there was no other campsite this close to yours or the falls. Especially since the falls were away from the "safe" campgrounds. It was strange, but nothing you couldn't ignore in order to enjoy your time out.
It was nearing the end of your stay. This was the last full day and night. Soon you'd be forced back to the city and back to your regular life. Your group decided to visit the falls one last time, which you didn't mind. One last goodbye. One last day of fun and relaxation.
"We should come back here for my birthday again."
Louis and a few other friends gave each other a look. A look of dread at the idea of climbing up the mountain again.
"I wouldn't mind that. The view and the falls kinda make up for the hike." Your words brought a smile to Claudia's face.
"Okay, so next year maybe we come back." Claudia started climbing up the side of the falls, trying to find a good rock to jump off of.
A rustle from the trees grabbed your attention. Trying to see where it came from. Maybe a bird? No, it was too much activity to be a bird. All you could see what the red and yellow of the tree leaves. You waited for something to move again, but it didn't happen. The leaves just slightly rustled with the wind.
"Umm... Did you guys hear that?"
"Hear what?"
No one heard or saw anything and no animal came out. No birds flew away. It was odd. The wind wasn't that strong, but everyone went back to enjoying the falls. You put the rustle of the leaves at the back of your mind and enjoyed the falls for the last day. Trying to use your last day to the best you could.
The last night was bittersweet. Sweet since you all would be in your own beds soon instead of the rocky ground. Bitter as you would have to leave such a marvel in order to go back to your normal life.
The group decided a bonfire would be a fantastic way to spend your last night. Make one bigger than the other nights. Cook some hot dogs and smores. Stare at the stars one last time. It was going to be a relaxing night before you guys would have to pack up the next morning and head back home. Luckily you guys still had a majority of leftover larger logs from the other fire night. But you would still need some kindling to add to the fire. You set off to collect some branches and twigs. Carrying as many as you could.
As you collected, you paid less attention to where you were going. Not realizing you were heading further into the woods than you should of. Leaving the clearing of the campgrounds. Leaving the safety of your group. Your mind was too busy focusing on collecting materials for the fire and trying to carry them. It wasn't until you heard something behind you, a crack of twigs on the floor that your mind was pulled elsewhere. Assuming it was one of your friends who were also out collecting twigs, you turned. The sight in front of you proved you wrong. Making you drop your collection in fear and shock. Instead of seeing a familiar face coming to collect you. There in front of you stood a tall figure. Like something out of a Greek myth. It had a human face, but as your eyes trailed down his neck. The human appearance ended. Its skin was covered by dark red feathers. Covering its torso and arms. Trailing all over its body. It was already much bigger than you, but when it spread its wings. Encompassing your sight. Forcing you to only see red, to only see it. Those beautiful trees you had once been surrounded by suddenly disappeared.
You had never seen anything like it. It appeared so bird-like, yet human at the same time. Its arms were moving, scratching at its head. As if curious and confused about what it was seeing. Your body froze, gazing at the creature gaping back at you. Taking a step back, trying to create some form of distance between the two of you. Only for it to mimic your movements. Trying to keep close. Stretching out its wings even more. As if to block your way fully. What was it? Your mind racked for some answer. There had to be something. An explanation of what this thing was. How something like this existed. Of why there was a human-like creature towering over you. Covered in feathers and possessing wings.
It wasn't that far from you, a few feet at most. Looking around you tried to gauge your best options. It was blocking your way straight back to your camp. The only other available route was behind you, deeper into to forest. Higher up the mountain. There was no other choice. It looked fast meaning it would probably get you no matter what. But why give it an easier time. If you went to the sides you would be closer to it and give it a better opportunity to grab you. Your only hope for getting away and surviving was to go deeper.
Giving one last look at the beast before you. Deciding there was no use waiting and staring. Giving it a chance to attack first. You bolted deeper into the woods. Jumping over every rock and branch. Ignoring the scratches and pain you received from the bushes and trees. It didn't matter, not when something worse was lurking behind you. All you had to was focus on running. Putting as much distance between the two of you before trying to figure out a way back to the camp to warn the others. Running as fast as your legs would let you go. Pushing yourself further and further. There had to be a way to get away and back to your friends. You couldn't die out here. You had to get away.
Your feet were burning. Trying to push through it, avoiding any low branches and roots. Tripping or falling would determine your doom. Your original plan of keeping track of where you were and where to go was soon abandoned. The woods all looked the same. Every tree, every bush, and every twig all looked the same.
Where were you? Was it still behind you? Why hadn't it caught you yet? After all, you had been running for so long. It didn't look like it was slow. Taking a moment to look behind you, you stopped when you realized it wasn't there anymore. Nothing was following you. You were alone. Perhaps you had lost it. Taking a few more moments to look back at the trees. Seeing if you could spot it hiding above, but there was nothing. It was gone.
It was odd to be alone in the woods now, after running for so long. All you could hear was the wind and your panting. Trying to catch your breath after running for so long. How far had you gone? How long had you been running? Would turning back be the right thing? The deeper you went into the woods the worse it would be. Turning back wouldn't be safe either. The monster could still be there. Waiting for you. Still watching. There was no right answer. Neither one would guarantee safety. Weighing your options, you went for getting back to the camp. Numbers meant safety, right? There would be more people to help you. It was the best of the worst. Even if it was still lurking nearby. It was obvious you wouldn't be getting away from it after all this time. At least in this way, you could maybe get back to them.
Taking a few more moments to catch your breath, you then headed back. You didn't have it in you to begin running again. Taking your time trying to figure out the route that led you here. Hoping it would lead you back. Trying to remember what you had passed. That tree did look familiar, but then again so did the others leading the opposite way. They all looked the same. How could you tell what you had passed on your way? Everything looked the exact same.
Not only were you lost, but every little thing made you paranoid. Every tiny sound made you snap your head in its direction. Scared that the beast was going to come back, to finish you off. Any snap of twigs or shake of trees made you flinch. You had never experienced this level of fear before. It was coursing through your whole body. Your anxiety kept climbing higher and higher as the sound continued. Only getting worse when the light from the sky began to fade away. It was like you were a child again. Seeing the light shine through your window at night from the street lights. Creating shadows in your room. Convincing yourself the boogeyman was there against your wall. Or that the pile of clothes was actually a monster peering at you, waiting for you to fall asleep before it struck. You wanted it to go away. To be out of the woods, to be with your friends again. Have a chance of actually getting out. Even though you weren't running back yet, you felt more exhausted than you did before. Your heart was pounding harder now. The anxiety forcing it to work over time. The fact it was going to be dark soon didn't help. The only thing you had on your side now was the sunlight, though soon it would leave.
You only realized you had found your way back when you heard one of your friends calling your name, it sounded like Austen. A light flashed from where your name was being called.
"I-I'm here."
The light flashed in your eyes, blinding you as the person came running towards you. It was Austen. Once he saw you he lowered his light. Letting you be able to actually see him.
"Wh-where did you- are you okay?"
He sounded worried. Seeing how dark it was you understood why. You had left when it was still light. They probably thought you had fallen and broken an ankle somewhere.
"We have to leave."
"What? We were worried sick. W-We thought you-"
"I said we have to leave." You had grabbed his shirt. Staring into his eyes. Pleading for him to listen.
"Calm down. Let's just get you back."
You tried to get him to hear you out, but instead, he tried to calm you down. Stating you were probably just scared of getting lost. Austin had wrapped his arm around you, leading you back to where you assumed the campsite was. He hushed you when you tried to explain what you had seen. Why you were out for so long. None of it was being heard. All he did was give comforting hums and nods as he led you away.
The rest of the group slowly made their way back to the campsite when they heard you were found. Each one hugging you and badgering you with questions. Yet, none seemed to listen when you tried to explain.
"We were terrified. We thought you had fallen off a cliff or something. What the hell!" Claudia was both worried and pissed.
"I told you! I saw something. It-"
"Enough with your fucking jokes. This isn't the time to be funny. We were worried-"
"I'm not making it up." Tears were streaming down your cheeks. Frustrated that Claudia wasn't listening. None of them were. "I swear Clau-"
"Was this some elaborate sick joke, huh?" She thought you went missing as a joke? "To scare us or something. Well-it-wasn't-fucking-funny." Claudia shoved you between each word.
Before you could counter her attack, there was a rustle of leaves from the trees and then a gust of wind in front of your face. Before your own eyes, Claudia was gone. Lifted away like the speed of light. Everyone froze. Confused about what just happened. Of where Claudia had gone. However, before anyone could speak there was a loud thud on the ground as something fell from the sky where she had just stood moments ago. Everyone took a step back. It was you who noticed what had fallen first. It was Claudia's bloody and mangled body laying there on the ground. Her head had been twisted. Blood poured from cuts along her arm and torso. In groups of three, like talon marks. Some looked incredibly deep.
"It's here." Your voice was cold. Thinking you were safe back at the camp was foolish.
"What the fuck-what the fuck."
"Is that?"
"It's Claudia"
No one knew what to do. It wasn't until Louis darted to the trail that you guys had come up on that others followed suit. Forgetting your belongings in hopes of finding safety somewhere else. All logic leaving everyone's bodies. It was ridiculous to head down into the woods when it was dark, but it beat staying near the dead body of your friend.
Everyone split up. Going at different speeds and different paths that lead down the mountain to the cars. You weren't sure if anyone had grabbed the keys. But at least you would be far away from what had happened. Once again, you were running in the woods at top speed. Unsure if you were going the right way as you jumped and dodged. Focused on getting away and staying upright. Pushing yourself faster as you heard screams. Those were your friends, those screams belonged to people you knew and loved. You should be helping, trying to get out as a group. But you weren't, you were running away from their screams and pleas for help. You were selfish, only caring about your survival. Staying alive was all you had on your mind. Claudia's mangled body plagued your mind. She was dead, she had died right in front of you. Her life ended so fast. Did she even have a chance to fight? Would you?
Your feet were burning. You had run more today than you ever had. Putting your body through it without any real break. Everything in you begged for you to slow down. To take a pause. The new noise that came from trees wouldn't let you. It sounded like something was moving. Gliding from one tree to the next. In the same direction you were running. You hoped it was a squirrel or something. Though you know better. It was that thing, it had killed all your friends and now it was your turn. You were going to die here on this mountain. Just like the others. What would they say on the news? What would they tell your parents? That there was a freak accident? A cougar did it?
Your thoughts were wiped from your mind when you were pushed down. Something had come from behind and shoved you down. Your face was pressed into the dirt. While a weight was placed on your back keeping you down. You knew what it was. You could feel the talons, placed on your back getting ready to dig into your flesh. You were as good as dead. Just another body they'd have to clean up in the morning. That poor ranger would probably be the first to discover you guys. You waited, giving your last moments to think about everyone you loved. Giving a silent, one-sided goodbye. However, nothing came. No final blow. No intense pain. Just the pressure on your back.
"Y-you-you g-good?"
Did, did it speak? How could it do that? You placed your hands on the ground to steady yourself as you slowly turned your head back to make sure it really was the creature. The same startling yellow eyes as earlier met you once again. It was staring down at you. Its face was bizarre, earlier it had more of an intrigued look to it. Now it looked more... concerned?
"What?"
"G-good?"
Its voice was deep, it sounded strained. As if it was having a difficult time talking. Like the words leaving its mouth were foreign.
"You-you can talk?"
It nodded. A smile spread on its face. Revealing two rows of sharp teeth. Sending a shiver down your spine. This thing could talk and it was asking you if you were okay. That didn't make sense. Was it mocking you before it killed you? Maybe it was copying a human's speech without knowing what it meant. So you waited. Shutting your eyes you waited for its talons to dig in and for it to get bored.
"Y-you good? Good?"
The creature had flipped you around. Getting off quickly to move you before getting back over you. Placing its bent legs on either side of you. Still peering down at you. Waiting for an answer. Your back was now pressed into the dirt. Opening your eyes, you stared at the creature. Wondering what the hell it was trying to do. Asking you if you were good as if it wasn't going to kill you like it had done to the others.
"I-I-I."
There were no words to say. All you could do was slightly nod. What else could you say? It had just killed your friends. How could you be good when this creature had trapped you?
It copied your movement, nodding back at you slowly. Then its hands found your face. Holding your chin, making you nod again and again. It looked fascinated by your head movement. Making you nod over and over. You let it until one of its talons scratched your cheek. Making you flinch in pain and try to push its hand away. Its hand didn't move. Rather it wiped away the blood. Letting its taloned finger linger on your cheek. Gentler this time.
"Ple-please don't h-hurt me."
"Please? Hurt?"
It was repeating your words again. Seeing how they felt on its tongue. It didn't seem to fully understand what the words meant, or at least in that context. Repeating the words again. Its voice was getting better at mimicking more of a human tone. Sounding more and more like a familiar voice. It took a moment to realize why, it was mimicking your own voice along with your friends. Trying to find its own tune within others. That meant it had been watching you guys for longer than just today. You doubted that argument with Claudia gave enough for it to sound like her. Or even the screams and pleas of the others as they died. It had to of been around much longer. The thought made you sick. Thinking about how that feeling at the falls held truth. You guys were never alone.
"Me K-Keigo." It was talking again. Holding one of its hands to its chest. As if pointing to itself.
"Keigo?"
It flashed you its teeth again with its smile. As if proud that you were able to copy it. Keigo. Keigo. Why was it saying... oh, its name. It was telling you its name. Taking your hand, the creature placed it on your chest. Slightly pushing down on you. Trying to signal for you to copy it. Gathering any boldness you had, you told it your name. Barely above a whisper, but it didn't matter. It heard you. Copying your name over and over like the other words.
Your eyes drifted across its body. Trying to see if you could move your legs enough to knee it and run. However, that's when you noticed the blood. Trailing along its body. Covering its torso, legs and arms. It had blended in so well with its red feathers you hadn't noticed earlier. So it had killed them. They were all gone, dead. Meaning there would be no one to hear you cry out. No one to call for help or even come look for you after getting help. You were on your own. Alone with this monster who seemed to take enjoyment in you.

I'm back and gayer than ever
Ok so Vance with a rich boyfriend Vance just finds expensive clothes and jewelry on his desk at school walks home to find his boyfriend there with a nice ass car yelling "GET IN WE'RE GOING SHOPPING" and maybe some Vance mom moments
I need to see Vance get spoiled by a gremlin
thanks for dealing with my hyperfixation
A Rich Man's World
Vance was always surprised whenever he thought about the fact that he had somehow managed to make you fall for him. You were so perfect, always had clear skin, straight A's, a clean record, fancy clothes, and the most expensive cologne anyone could think of. And then there was him. He always thought of himself as scraggly. He was rough, a troublemaker, and while he definitely wasn't living in poverty, he wasn't exactly rich, either.
So whenever you gave him gifts, he never knew how to react. He loved it, sure. He enjoyed being spoiled, but he never knew how to repay you. You always told him you didn't need anything in return.
He already knew something was up when he got to his first class early, finding you already there, trying to act nonchalant.
You weren't a very good actor.
He walked over to his desk in the back of the classroom. Draped atop his chair was a jean vest. It didn't look expensive at first glance, but after observing the tag, the brand was some expensive French brand you had told him about many times. Placed on top was a sticky note with the words "for you, from your secret admirer" written in neat cursive, with a heart at the end. Vance shook his head and glanced over at you, whom was practically shaking at your desk with excitement.
He neatly folded the note and slipped it into his jean pockets before putting on the vest.
The teacher had come in about a minute later, and everyone settled into their seats.
While the teacher was turned and writing on the chalk-board, you turned around to find Vance already staring at you. Vance's face flushed a light shade of red. You smirked and mouthed the words "check the pockets" to him before turning around and facing the teacher again.
Vance sighed and reached his hand into one of the pockets, fishing around until he felt something cold and thin. He pulled it out to find his hand wrapped around a gold chain.
He wasn't sure how to react. He was never used to react when you gave him expensive gifts. One time you had gifted him a 100 dollar bottle of cologne, and he simply didn't know how to react. He rarely ever uses it. Not because he doesn't like it, but because he's scared to waste it all so quickly. You always told him that if he needed more, you would happily buy it for him, but he always felt guilty when you spent so much money on him.
He didn't see you for the rest of the day. The only class you guys had together was homeroom.
He was also surprised when he didn't see you on his way home. The two of you often walked the same route home. But maybe you just stayed behind at school to tutor or help out.
As soon as Vance walked into the house, he found his mom sitting at the dining room table, reading a book and sipping on some tea.
Vance tried to walk past her without saying anything about the new vest and necklace, but was quickly stopped when his mom practically sqeauled. "Oh hun! That looks so great on you. Did Y/n get that for you? That boy is so sweet. He is such a good friend. You make sure to tell that I said hi the next time you see him." Vances mother smiled and placed a kiss on his cheek. Vance just rolled his eyes playfully, a slight smile on his face.
"Yeah, sure ma." He sighed and quickly made his way to his room.
He spent the next hour simply lying in his bed, until he heard a voice call from down the hall.
"Vance, sweetie, get out here!"
Vance groaned and got out of his bed, slipping his shoes on and walking out to the living room to find the good slightly agape.
He opened the door to find you sitting in a fancy car, the kind of car he only saw in magazines. He had never seen one in real life. It was sleak and black. Vance laughed, seemingly stuck to the pavement.
You chuckled, giving him a wide smile and waving at him. "Get in loser, we're going shopping!" Vance smirked and excitedly ran calmly walked over to the car, not wasting another second before getting in. His mother stood in the yard and waved as the two drove off.
As soon as they were out of the line of sight of his mother, Vance leaned over and placed a kiss on Y/n's cheek. "My mother seems very fond of you. Told me to tell you she said hello." Vance sighed and leaned back in the seat, smiling excitedly as he looked around at the interior of the car.
"Wow, I guess I'm just making the entire Hopper household fall for me." You chuckled, moving one hand away from the steering wheel and placing it in between you and Vance. Vance looked down and immediately took your hand, but he tried to play it off like he didn't really care.
Vance was also a bad actor.
"Why'd you have to come and pick me up in this fancy car? I have a car to, you know. And where are we even going?" Vance looked over at you, thankful that your eyes were glued to the road so that you couldn't catch him admiring all of your features. "Not that I'm complaining! It's just, why waste all this fancy shit on me?"
You frowned, glancing over at Vance for a second. "Well first off, its not a waste. If you enjoy it, then its money well spent. If you don't like all the fancy shit, just tell me. I just want you to feel loved. Thats all." You hummed, once again smiling. "And as for where we're going. I figured we could go get something to eat. Your choice. And then we can go to the mall. And then after that you can come spend the night over at my house." As you went over the plans for the night, Vance couldn't help but well up with guilt. Was he being ungrateful? Sure he enjoyed everything you ever gave him, but he knew he would never be able to repay the favor.
Vance picked a local diner. It wasn't fancy, (but Vance seemed to think it was the height of luxury,) but you didn't care. Anywhere with him was good enough for you.
The mall wasn't very packed, which was surprising. Usually, a Friday afternoon was prime time for kids to go and hang out with their friends at the mall.
You and Vance very subtly held hands as you walked around, looking into all the stores. About half the stores you couldn't even go in due to Vance being banned for stealing or starting fights.
Vance didn't find much that really caught his eye except for a pair of boots that he thought looked "kickass" with his jeans.
Just as the two fo you left the mall, Vance looked over at you with a devious smirk that didn't go unnoticed. You turned to face him, tilting your head slightly.
"Can I drive the car? I swear on my mom I will not crash it." Vance gave you the kind of look he always gave you whenever he wanted something. He knew he had a chokehold on your heart.
You sighed and fished the keys out of your pocket, tossing them to him. You got in the passenger seat after putting your bags in the trunk, and very nervously put on your seat belt.
"Vance Hopper, I swear if you crash this car you will never hear the end of it." You mumbled. You wouldn't say you doubted your boyfriends driving skills.
Well, at least you wouldn't say it to his face.
The ride home was filled with many heartstopping swerves around corners, and practically yelling at Vance about running red lights while he just sat there, cackling, with the biggest smirk he could even muster.
You were relieved when you got home.
"I never thought you were a car guy, V." You sighed, unlocking the door to your house (Vance called it a mansion despite it being barely bigger then the average two story home.)
"I'm not. I just think its funny seeing you all freaked out like that. I'm a good driver. I swear." Vance chuckled and you wanted to smack him upside his head if your hands weren't full of bags and if you weren't convinced he would tackle you right here and now, halfway up the stairs.
Vance never really got over how nice your bedroom was. You had your own TV, radio, phone, and any other gadget any teenager could want. Not to mention the dozens of posters hung on your walls, some signed by the singers or performers that was printed on them.
After the two fo you had settled in and changed into more comfortable clothes, Vance simply borrowing some clothes from you, you had found yourself sitting on top of your roof, hand in hand, and staring at the now star-spotted sky.
You leaned over, resting your head on Vances shoulder. Vance smiled and rested his head atop yours. It was moments like these, where you and Vance were alone, where Vance could be truly open, all of his guards down, that Vance valued the most.
"V?" You spoke softly, as to not disrupt the peace.
Vance hummed in acknowledgement.
"I love you. Like a lot. And I know you have trouble sometimes... like saying how you feel. So you don't have to respond but I love you and I hope that all the gift giving shows that because I've never really been good at-"
Vance cut you off by gently grabbing your chin and tilting your head up so that he could place a soft kiss on your lips. It was gentle enough so that you wouldn't slip or start to slide down the roof, but it was still filled with passion. The kind of raw passion you really only saw when he played pinball or beat the shit out of some kid. The kind of passion you saw in his eyes, if you searched hard enough, when he looked at you. It said a million words, but at the same time was so silent and peaceful.
"I love you too."
A/N: hiiii okay ifk why but this definitely feels like one of my worse pieces but anyway I hope you liked this. I had a lot of fun writing it. Vance needs to be spoiled more I get the feeling that poor kid has probably never received a genuine gift in his life </3
