Let’s talk about the girl squad:

ISA: as the main for season 1, we as viewers got to learn about her first. i think it can be widely agreed upon that season 1 is generally seen as the least popular and going into it, i kind of had that mindset too. “you need to get through season 1 to get the other seasons” was what i thought. but after the first clip i just KNEW isa would be different. from her avocado bra, munching on snacks while in bed, FUCKING LICKING HER DIRTY ASS PHONE, and basically not giving two shits about gijs while watching liv sing—i fell in love with this girl super fast. she is probably the most relatable eva BC SHE IS ALL OF US. i’m reminded of my own high school days when i watch her season. i remember how it feels to lose friends, feel insecure, and have my world revolve around a boy. and the way the actress portrays this character is so natural, from her dialogue to mannerisms, and i could go on and on about isa bc she holds a special piece of my heart but then this long ass post will turn into an essay

LIV: out of all the noora remakes, liv is (dare i say it) the best one. from the moment she went on stage i knew this girl would be different, and a main reason why is because they incorporated zoë’s real life interests into her character. that in itself made liv have so much more depth as a character and i fucking LOVE how flushed out she is. they took the time to develop liv during her season and i feel like we know her better than the other nooras. i genuinely feel like i’m watching her life through her eyes and feel the emotions she is feeling. the vulnerable moments she has alone in her room, the quiet observations she makes, the obvious love she has for music, and the deep desire to protect her friends—she IS the mama bear. she is the shoulder that her friends can lean on WHICH IS GREAT but that can make someone feel lonely at times bc people don’t realize that those type of individuals also need someone to support them. i relate SO MUCH to the hard image liv portrays to the outside world while being super closed off and vulnerable when alone. it’s something i feel like a lot of people can also relate to and i just fucking love liv

ENGEL: my sweet sweet engel is like a small puppy you just CANT hate. sometimes, the vilde remakes come off as super ignorant or obnoxious with little to no dimensions as a character. but from the beginning, we see that engel is someone who is sensitive, and needs that extra support from friends. she wears her heart on her sleeve and falls in love too easily. she tries her best to make everyone happy, even if her efforts aren’t much appreciated or understood by others. i love how she has pretty much no filter but the words that come out of her mouth are never harsh or condescending. i found myself dreading the moment she learns about liv+noah bc i genuinely didn’t want to see her get hurt. i felt like i was the one that needed to protect engel and shut her away from the harsh reality around her.

JANNA: oh maaaan, if i was even 1/10 of the person janna is, i feel like i would be so much happier. she doesn’t give a shit about anything and just gets along with anyone and everyone. i love her carefree personality, her free love mentality, and the fact that she will drop everything to help friend. she is the balance that the girl squad needs when they need someone and the role she plays reminds me a lot of OG chris. the friend that is there for all the good and fun times. but most importantly, is there for the serious times too.

IMAAN: i know she isn’t here for season 2 but i miss this girl and her yellow car. she seems like such a tough badass bitch who also doesn’t give two shits about what anyone thinks about her. she is loyal and feisty and may seem a little mean at times but its all coming from a place of love. i reallllly hope she returns for season 3 🤞🏻 but if she doesn’t, i’ll just keep playing that clip of her rolling up in her little car.

NOAH: ok first of all, i was never a william hater or anything like that. i enjoyed og season 2 and appreciated how they expanded his character from just being a fuck boy to someone who acTUALLY HAS FEELINGS? but noah is...he is just SO DIFFERENT. i know i’ve been saying that a lot but it’s just true. we as viewers learn so much about him alongside liv and while in season 1 i didn’t care much for him, i couldn’t help but fall in love with this dork. i love how we see him pursue liv, even though he doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing. he is honest and open and doesn’t hide anything from liv which IS SO IMPORTANT bc something that i always felt lacked in the noora/william relationship was open+honest communication. also his intentions never seemed to be based off something physical and he genuinely WANTS to get to know liv. he wants to be given that chance and he waits and waits until she is ready. he doesn’t blackmail her, he doesn’t go behind her back, he just tries his best even if what he does may not be the smartest way to go about things. and similar to liv/zoë, just by adding monk’s real life interests into noah has added so much depth to his character and makes him 74394739x more interesting. we never really learn what william’s interests are, his passions, what he enjoys, and so it’s great to see that side of noah.
