LMAO top five anime
1. Trigun
Tumblr media
“Vash the Stampede... every time I observe his actions I can't help but sense something hidden deep within him, something we can't being to understand. But this much is certain: everyone who has become involved with him has somehow regained an emotion which was once lost."
Trigun is one of my all-time favorite animes and it’s one of my absolute goals when it comes to writing tones in my fic.
I just love how the episodic formula lends itself well to a format where you can care about these characters by the time something serious happens to them.
I know, it’s an older anime, and a Space Western, which has turned a lot of my friends off from watching it. (and the first episode is not reflective at all of what the show actually is...)
It’s an older anime, so I recommend the Dub. (not that the OG Japanese isn’t good...)  I just feel like the more humorous moments flow better with the Dub.
2. Princess Tutu
Tumblr media
“And so, the prince and the princess lived happily ever… Happily!? Happiness in stories is, at most, a trifling matter of a couple of lines at the end — the epitome of boredom. Now, show me a magnificent tragedy! A cataclysm of tears from which not one of the players is saved, and to which a happy ending never comes!”
Okay, I lied... Princess Tutu does what Trigun does but like a thousand times better in terms of letting you care about the characters through a series of episodic events that you don’t think connect until the last moment.
I love how the entire thing is told like a ballet, or a classical grim fairytale, and the characters in the story have to literally rewrite their fates to change the ending
(For the IZ-fandom, if you love Melody’s Royalty AU... I guarantee you will LOVE Princess Tutu. That’s a promise)
(another anime I watch in English Dub, but the Dub is.......wonky in some places especially with a “child” character later down the line)
3. Wolf’s Rain
Tumblr media
"They say there's no such place... as Paradise. Even if you search to the ends of the Earth, there's nothing there. No matter how far you walk, it's always the same road. It just goes on and on. But, in spite of that... why am I so driven to find it? A voice calls to me... it says, "Search for Paradise."
Wolf’s Rain is one of those animes that legitimately challenged the way I think as a person.
Warning, Wolf’s Rain is a Very sad story and many good Doggos die. It doesn’t have a happy ending. (well, depends on your interpretation of the ending)
I love how artistically they tell a story... and that it’s just literally a story about Wolves in the Apocolypse
Not wolves that turn into Humans like the art sometimes has you believe. (they’re always Wolves) so it’s nice to see an animal look at humanity and the afterlife and question these types of thoughts.
I have seen this anime three times and I hope to rewatch it more.
(I really need to watch this in Japanese. I’ve only ever seen in English)
4. Madoka Magica
Tumblr media
“If anyone ever tells me it’s a mistake to have hope, well then, I’ll just tell them they’re wrong. And I’ll keep telling them till they believe. No matter how many times it takes!”
Everything about this show is a spoiler but I can’t recommend it enough. The entire show is a masterpiece, the art and visuals are stunning, the emotions are high, and it’s 13 episodes, which is just the right length for an anime in my opinion. It never overstays its welcome and there is absolutely no filler. Every scene is important, even ones you think aren’t later become relevant.
But I love how it subverts the Magical Girl genre and I still adore it. (I haven’t seen the dub. So I recommend the OG Japanese for this one... )
I really want you to watch this one personally Pink. Just be prepared.
5.  Naruto/ FMA Brotherhood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had to put the placeholder here for sentimental reasons.
Naruto is super long and I don’t recommend getting into it.
Brotherhood is not as long but still pretty long and I recommend that to everyone as a gateway drug anime.
Anyways... yeah.
I noticed my top four animes (the fifth hardly counts cus it’s there as a placeholder... but it’s still good) are mostly tragedies... huh. weird.
