One of my biggest dreams that only a handful of people have ever heard about is the Homelessness Transitional Program I want to start one day, especially here in Chicago.
Basically, it would be a home where people can register to move in and work at. Ideally it would be a large building downtown that is easily accessible to people who would have to walk or take the CTA. I would love to house as many people as I could, the main focus would be with Youths but nobody would be “too old” to join. Many programs here end at 25 years of age.
Playing with some numbers, lets say I could one day afford a building downtown that has 50 floors to it. The top 30 would be the living quarters, the highest 10 would be for youths. Then 10 would be for families. 5 for the elderly. And 5 for the in between ages.
Age Ranges would be:
Youths: Anybody 25 and under. Families: Any age, 2 or more people arriving together. In between: 26 - 55 Elderly: 56+
The floors would be set up as so for youths:
5 floors for exclusively girls (taking into consideration girls running from abusive hetero relationships, girls with a fear of men due to trafficking, assault, abusive parents, etc. Also taking into consideration trans girls who want to surround themselves with a more feminine environment.)
5 floors would be co-ed.
All 10 floors would have “All Gender Restrooms/Locker rooms” as most LGBTQ youth centers here have. The idea is very accepting and gives easier access to many trans and non-binary youths. Also available would be private bathrooms with showers for anybody who isn’t comfortable being the restroom or shower near/with others around the way many locker rooms are set up.
All floors are set up kind of like dorms, 4 people to a room, 2 sets of bunk beds in each room, 4 wardrobes and 4 desks in each. All rooms are handicap accessible of course and people can request the bottom bunks if needed. Ages would of course be taken into consideration, all roommates would be within 1-2 years of each other. Especially with the younger kids.
The floors for families would be set up like:
Like apartments. They would have 1-3 bedrooms. Families with only 2 people (whether it’s a couple, a single parent and child or another situation) would get 1 bedrooms only. The bedrooms would be adjusted to have one bed or two beds upon request. Families with 3-5 people (whether it’s 2 parents with 1-3 kids or a single parent with 1-4 kids or another situation) would be allowed a 2 bedroom. Each room could be adjusted in the number of beds, kids would be allowed only a twin sized bed. Families with 6+ people would be allowed 3 bedroom apartments, number of beds would be adjusted as needed. The one and two bedroom apartments would have 1 bathroom and the 3 bedroom apartments would have 2 bathrooms. Each floor would also have a public use restroom/locker room on each floor.
The floors for the elderly would be set up like:
Apartments as well, all would be 1 bedrooms. A connected restroom with shower for every 2 apartments.
The floors for the in between ages would be set up like:
Pretty much like the youth rooms, with shared living spaces, the 5 floors for 26-55 year olds would be the 5 just before the youth spaces. Whenever the number of youths is lower, we would allow for more “older” people to use their floors, ages and gender would still be factored in. All youths would still be kept together, nobody over the age of 26 would be allowed to room with anybody 25 and under. A whole floor from the youths could be converted to an adult level if needed. Any runaway youths, orphans or kids kicked out of their homes that are 18 or younger would only be allowed to room with other youths 18 and under.
The bottom 20 floors would be where most activities then occur. The first floor would be our lobby with a few offices for initial interviews.
The second floor would be the public hanging space with access to computers for job searches, apartment searches or fun if wanted. There would also be a few rooms with tv’s and coaches for bonding and getting to know others within the program. A small library as well in one room, an art room for anything creative and a board game room. This level would be accessible to not only those living in the building but also for youth who need a place to go and hang out. Those not living within the building however would have to be 25 and under, still need to do an intake and would have a curfew of 7:30pm. The open hours however would be from 10am to 7:30pm, Monday - Fridays. Saturday and Sundays it would only be open to those living in the building.
The third and fourth floor would each have a large kitchen and large cafeteria, each floor would also have smaller dining areas where anybody who requires a quieter setting would be allowed to go.
The fifth floor would be our clinic where all initial health intakes are taken to make sure everybody coming in is vaccinated and in good health. Any medications that are needed would be offered as well, insulin, hormones, antibiotics, etc.
The sixth floor would be our mental health rooms. Where we would have offices for around 10 licensed therapists, 4 of whom would/should have a specialty in youth care. We would also have 10 suites for sessions on this floor and a break room for the staff on that floor.
The seventh floor would be where our case managers work from, hoping for at minimum 20 case workers, these would be the people who help with finding jobs, finding affordable apartments, figuring out where your primary health care provider and dentist will be once you leave the program, etc. This floor would also have a break room for the staff on that level.
The eighth, ninth and tenth floor would all have classrooms where we would teach basic skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, sewing, math, and more. The rooms could also be requested by anybody in the program who wishes to teach something.
The eleventh floor would be our public laundry room where people could be and do their laundry for free, detergent and such would be given as well.
The twelfth floor would be our closed laundry room where we would wash all sheets, towels, etc between people staying in rooms. As soon as somebody is moved out their sheets and towels would all be replaced and cleaned etc.
The thirteenth floor would be where all cleaning supplies would be kept for the building. We would have 50 carts set up as well to be taken and used on each floor each morning. Our large dumpsters as well to be taken around the floors to collect all trash.
The fourteenth floor would be theater sort of set up with multiple purposes. One of which being for talent shows (primarily for fun and done every 4 months to allow for happy moments with all the staff and program members and open to the public with donation boxes set up.), open to be rented as well by the public for funding purposes.
The fifteenth floor would be where fundraising gala’s would be held, so it’d be like a large ballroom with a stage, large windows with a view (rich people who donate like the view).
The sixteenth floor would be our HR since the building would be “run” by those within the program. (Expanded on lower in this post)
The seventeenth - nineteenth floors would be closed private spaces for those living within the building. These floors would have mini kitchens with snacks, living room set ups, computers, a gym for physical activities, jogging, volleyball, etc, not accessible to the public.
Then twenty+ would be the living spaces.
The rooftop would also be used. It would be fenced off for safety reasons but it would have a garden, a few bonfire set ups, it would be a nice little space for people to just go up and get some sun.
We would have 6 elevators for those within the program, all requiring key/badge access. All people accepted into the program would receive a badge with their photo and name on it, that key would be programmed to give them access to their bedroom and all floors allowed to them.
We would also have 3 elevators for public use that would only stop on the first, second, third, and fourth floor during regular hours. During event nights they would also stop on the fourteenth and/or fifteenth floor. There would also be one express elevator that stops only on the first, fourteenth and fifteenth floors. That one only accessibly during event nights.
As I mentioned earlier, the building would be run by those within the program, to elaborate, anybody 16 years or older would be required to have a job within the building. They could help in the kitchen with food prep, serving, dishes, etc. Another job would be housekeeping, where they’re assigned a floor and would have to go around and clean, collect trash, etc. Another job would be programming, where they would run groups such as art, supervise movie nights, give mini lessons, etc. Another job would be those who help in the closed laundry rooms. Another would be to provide child care for those who are staying there with children and who have to go to job interviews, go to their new jobs, apartment viewings, etc. All jobs within the building would pay $15/hour, would pay weekly and have a minimum requirement of 12 hours a week and a maximum of 20 hours a week so as to not prevent the people within the building from working jobs outside of the building. This would also provide those within the program a way to buy work clothes and shoes and start a savings account to move into their own place. Bus passes would be provided as well.
People could stay within the program anywhere from a few days to four months maximum. By four months you should have an apartment and job set up, exceptions can be made however.
All staff would be paid relatively well, anywhere from $22/hour+ depending on their role and level of experience. Holiday pay, overtime, vacation and insurance would all be given. Staff would be allowed to partake in special events, would be allowed to eat dinner with the programmers, etc. I would 100% want to make sure they all feel and know how appreciated they are. We would also accept interns and volunteers in the building.
How would this get funded? It sounds expensive? I know. It’s a dream, but something that any billionaire, maybe even a millionaire could accomplish. I would be living within the building myself so as to make sure everything is running smoothly at all times. I would probably invest in real estate and buy several apartment buildings throughout the city and make sure all rent is affordable. The spaces would primarily be rented out to those within the program once they’ve secured jobs. Those buildings would then be paying for themselves and any income from the rent that’s left over would be put towards the primary building itself. There would of course be several events throughout the year for rich people to attend and donate. I would probably try to strike up investment deals with several companies as well. Basically, they would invest/donate/fund by providing either money, food, clothes, shoes, supplies, etc and in return they would be provided with resumes of those within the program. For example a retail store provides us with maybe 200k a year, in return they get access to all the resumes and could higher anybody in the program. Maybe a phone company gives us a money donation and even donates cell phones for those who need them, then they set up interviews with anybody in the program. Maybe a grocery store provides us with money, food and hygiene supplies, they then have access to resumes. Maybe an airline donates money and funds special events, etc. It would be a win-win situation for big company donors that way, it would also give them a good reputation with the public and would more than likely bring in more business. We would also apply for government grants, which from how big of a program it is and how many it would help, we would probably receive a lot of government funding.
What would the rich people donating receive? Their name ingrained on the “Wall of Heroes” that would span throughout the gala room. And if we were ever to run out of space in there then it would be expanded to the theater level.
I realize my idea probably sounds so expensive and so out of reach but I’ve always had big dreams and this is one that I want to one day accomplish. Even if I’m 60 by the time I can start something like this up I’m gonna try. Honestly I just want to do whatever I can to end homelessness, every day I see so many people out on the streets. I work at 7am most days so I’m on the train by 6am to get there on time and I see people sleeping on the train, sleeping at stations, on the streets out in the cold and it breaks my heart. I see people begging for left overs outside of restaurants, I see people struggling just to make it one more day and I just don’t understand how so many rich people can turn a blind eye to that. How can people have hundreds of millions of dollars and not do a damn thing about it. I just don’t understand how people can earn anywhere from 10 million+ a year and just hoard it all or spend it so selfishly. What kind of family of 4 needs a 25 bedroom home with a home theater and indoor swimming pool?
I might be naive and I might dream too big but I swear, I will get something like this started one day in all big cities within the United States. college!Jeongyeon
Ok, so this wasn’t requested but I had a dream and now it is stuck in my head so I’m writing it down <3 So here is a little something for my Twice bias, lovely Jeongyeon.
Also, it’s probably obvious that I don’t go nor ever have been to college so bear with me :)  If you like it feel free to send a request my way xx
Tumblr media
It’s September and so another year at college starts
And you are now used to what the college lifestyle is like (though do you ever really get used to it?)
You took all the introductory classes that you needed to the previous year and so your class schedule has opened up a little
And so you decide that you will join a club of some sort
Your friends are all happy to hear this, as last year you kept yourself tucked in your dorm studying away
As a result, they are all asking (read:begging and nagging) you to join the clubs they are in
Jackson wants you to join fencing with him - You aren’t too keen on the idea of being hit with metal sticks
Dowoon and Wonpil suggest you learn a new instrument, but you really don’t have the patience for this
And there is no way you will join Yugyeom and Momo in the dance group
I mean, you become short of breath walking the few flights of stairs it takes to make it to your dorm
And so a week goes by with you unable to make up your mind
Until one lunchtime
You are sitting in the campus coffee shop with one of your friends, Jinyoung, just sipping on your drink and having a nice conversation about current news and all the good tea around campus
(get it? the good tea as in gossip and you’re in a coffee shop? I’ll shut up now)
When he casually slips in, “Auditions for Les Miserables start tomorrow. You should join me in trying out,”
Now, Jinyoung is very good at acting, and his singing voice is no joke either
You, on the other hand, have never really even tried either
Unless you count car karaoke and singing in the shower
And a few plays in elementary and middle school
So you just reply with a simple “perhaps” and change the topic back to Mark and Dahyun’s rap battle from the previous night
However, all through your afternoon classes his offer runs through your mind
And through the evening
You dismiss the idea though, never having been especially fond of being the center of attention
The next day, you wake up, bright eyed and bushy tailed (as if) and scroll through social media while eating in the dorm kitchen
Everywhere you look -Instagram, Facebook, Snap-chat- it seems like all your friends and family are doing is having fun and living their lives
While you are currently sitting in your Donald Duck pajamas eating cheerios with a spoon too small at midday
So you decide to be spontaneous
You run to your room
Change into the first clothes you see that go relatively well together, sort out your bedhead, and put some makeup on if that’s your thing
Soon enough, you presentable enough to go out in public and you shoot a quick text to Jinyoung
So, where am I headed?-(y/n)
Thankfully, he isn’t one to make a fuss over things and so simply reply’s
The theater, duh-Jinyoung
Quick time skip~~~~~
At the college auditorium you sign in, not putting down any particular character that you want to play,  and wait
Passing time by watching people before you
And while there are some people who, let’s just say, aren’t the next Russell Crowe or Anne Hathaway
There are some people that are very talented
Which sort of gets you even more nervous than before
Soon enough, it is your time to shine
And it must have gone well
Because the next week you find out you will be playing the part of Enjolras
(Guy or girl, both or neither, it doesn’t matter because this is theater - as long as you play the character well nobody cares about your gender)
Which comes as a huge surprise to you
But not to your friends who are so supportive of you
Sungjin even throws you a mini party in his apartment
And with your own personal hype crew to get you confident and excited, you actually couldn’t wait for rehearsals to begin
Which they soon do
And this, finally, is where you meet our beloved lady Jeongyeon
Well, not really meet, considering you have many mutual friends
You just have never really had much of a conversation past the polite “How are you” and so and so
One of the reasons for this may be the small, budding crush you have on her
Who can blame you? It’s Jeongyeon
And let’s just say past experiences with a high school crush have you very weary
So you simply avoid interacting with her to avoid any possible awkwardness and/or humiliation
You, reader, have just had the first script reading with your cast mates and everybody else has gone their separate ways already
Whilst most people decided to go to get BBQ with their mates, you found one of the rooms backstage, filled with half made props, and decide to get a head start on memorizing your lines
Which is where Jeongyeon finds you a couple of hours later
Jihyo had mentioned that you hadn’t turned up to the study session you had planned
Now, unlike her older sister Seung-yeon, Jeongyeon isn’t an actress
Instead, she is one of the stage managers for the play, and so is very familiar with the layout of the auditorium
And so when it is mentioned that you are most likely still there
She immediately volunteers to go and find you
She absolutely didn’t do it because she has seen you with the other girls and become interested in you, no siree
You have your phone playing ‘Do You Hear The People Sing’ out loud, and are singing along very...’enthusiastically’
As it comes to an end, much to your horror, you hear someone behind you start to clap (support Seventeen and ‘Clap’)
Quickly spinning around, the nightmare is made even worse by who you see standing there
Yep, you guessed it
It’s Jeongyeon, catching you off guard
1-0
And she has this soft smile on her face
Surprisingly, it is in no way a mocking smile
“You have a really good voice, (y/n)” she says, knocking you out of your embarrassed stupor
With ears redder than Marks hair, you reply, “Umm, thanks. So, uh, how long were you watching exactly?”
“Long enough. Much like you have been. Jihyo started getting worried”
You quickly pick up your bag and put it over your shoulder, checking the time on your phone
“Wow, I didn’t realise I had been in here so long.”
Jeongyeon laughs a little, motioning you towards her
“Come on, I’m guessing you haven’t eaten yet, and Momo has probably eaten all the pizza already”
Which is how you end up walking around the night markets, sharing street food with Jeongyeon
When not eating, you talk, and when not talking, you simply stroll along in a comfortable silence
Spending this time together secretly makes you both wish that you had taken the initiative to get to know the other before because it turns out you have a lot in common
From music, to food, to movies and tv
And as you share a paper plate of tteokbokki, you can’t help but think to yourself that this feels an awful lot like a date
You look over at Jeongyeon, only to find her already looking at you
And here comes the most cliche of all cliches
She leans over to you, and swipes her thumb at the corner of your mouth
“You got a little sauce there” is all she says, before turning away, looking unfazed by the contact (though you can bet your knickerbocker glories that she is screaming on the inside)
You on the other hand, simply continue to stare at her side profile, red filling your cheeks
That’s twice she has caught you off guard in less than 12 hours
2-0
Sadly though, the night has to end sometime, and it happens sooner than you would like
As you both walk back to the dorms, the streets become less and less crowded, until it is only you two on the path
This means that the chilly autumn air easily makes it’s way through your few layers that were fine for the warmer day but not so good now, causing you to shiver slightly
Which Jeongyeon notices
And of course, she decides to pull you closer to her
Make that three times she has caught you off guard
3-0
Now of course you are nervous
You are basically snuggling into your crush while walking back home after a ‘felt like a date but probably wasn’t
But then you notice Jeongyeon’s red ears next to you, very much like your own
And this gives you a little bit of hope
And confidence to do what you what you were about to now that you had arrived back at your dorm
“Tonight was nice. Really nice. Thank you.”
And with that, you lean over to give her a quick peck
Not quite on the cheek, but not quick on the lips
Before you turn around and hurry inside, too embarrassed at your spontaneous act to turn back around
Because of this you miss Jeongyeon, pressing her hands to her face and smiling almost giddily
Now it’s 3-1
You still need to make it even
It’s not the longest ever, and I really want to do more but it is 1.42am and I am so tired, so here we go.
Feel free to leave feedback and requests!

Destiny | WMatsui - Chapter 29
Jurina took her earphones out as she entered the rehearsal room of the SKE theater, waving at the few members already present. In less than ten minutes, the fifteen girls that composed SKE’s senbatsu were expected to work on their next important event. Indeed, the idol group was supposed to do a mini showcase in Nagoya in two days, the performance being broadcast live on TV for the occasion. Jurina dropped her sports bag in a corner of the room and nonchalantly sat on the floor, her attention caught by the two girls dancing in front of the large mirrors.
Nao Furuhata and Ayuka Kamimura.
While the other members already arrived were chilling out or chatting amongst themselves, those two girls in particular were already hard at work and practicing a few choreographies together. Jurina wasn’t astonished to see them already practicing even before the official beginning of rehearsal. After all, those two girls were anything but random members. At the end of the year 2019, Nao and Ayuka had been appointed as SKE’s current Center and WCenter.
Four months had already passed since that day.
Jurina observed more especially the younger member, noting again how much Ayuka had grown up over the years. At the age of sixteen, Ayuka didn’t have much in common with the insecure and emotive girl she had shared briefly the spotlight with after Rena’s graduation. Now, a certain air of confidence surrounded the newest WCenter, and Ayuka was capable of mastering a choreography faster and better than ever before.
Ayuka was indisputably one of Jurina’s greatest sources of pride.
Jurina couldn’t have been more satisfied with management’s latest decisions. It had assuredly taken many years and a lot of discussions to reach such a stage, but management had eventually opened their eyes and accepted the fact that their long-time strategy – that had worked so well for so many years – now needed to be revised drastically to assure the sustainability of the Nagoya-based group.
At the end of 2019, management had decided – and this for the first time in the history of the group - to rotate SKE’s Center and WCenter on a regular basis. The plan was to change both leading figures every two singles, in order to give more members the opportunity to shine and accustom the fans to less-known faces. With the constant emergence of new 48 and 46 groups, the competition had never been so tough. More than ever, it was primordial to find a way to stand out from the other idol groups.
Jurina was conscious that nothing was set in stone and, if this innovative concept proved to fail in the long run, then management wouldn’t hesitate to reverse back to a permanent Center and WCenter. This new approach was still in its early stages, yet it already showed promise. Ayuka’s tireless determination and all the progress she had accomplished through the years had thankfully been acknowledged. That’s why, when Jurina had urged management to give Ayuka another chance, they agreed to test their new strategy with her.
During the group’s December single of 2019, Ayuka Kamimura was appointed WCenter and Nao Furuhata SKE’s new Center.
Jurina couldn’t deny that a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders. During more than ten years, she had been SKE’s faithful ace. She had relished every second of it and the teenager that she was back then would have wanted for nothing in the world to switch her position with another member. She enjoyed leading the group and being in the spotlight. Nothing could have made her prouder than seeing her face displayed on posters and buildings, proclaiming her as SKE’s official representative.
A few weeks ago, she turned twenty-three.
Jurina could feel she had gained a certain maturity: a maturity that was enabling her to see the group’s situation from a brand-new perspective: so many aspects of this business that she couldn’t fully comprehend when she was still a teenager, or even a young adult. Winning the SSK in 2019 had been one of her greatest victories. Witnessing SKE’s management taking the group’s fate seriously and the right measures had been another.
Since 2008, the idol group had gone through so many rough patches. At one point, when Rena Matsui – Jurina’s eternal WCenter and other legendary member of the group – had shockingly announced her graduation, many people in the business had been prone to predict the slow and gradual death of the idol group. In spite of the forked tongues, SKE had always managed to bounce back and overcome its difficulties. It was the group’s undeniable strength: members never surrendered without a fight.
Nine generations.
Many talented members.
Plenty of other girls with hidden potential.
A potential that ought to be discovered and awaken.
It was precisely for all those reasons that Jurina was hopeful about the future. More than ever, she was confident that the group was far from over and still had a lot of offer. For many more years, SKE would continue to shine. In December 2019, an important page had been turned, and another one was about to open up in 2020.
   Tokyo, two days later…
This Friday in early April, Rena was spending the entire day outside of Nagoya, having a few jobs to do in Japan’s capital. Having just finished an interview with NHK, she was now heading towards her next destination for lunch. When Yosuke had been informed that – not only they would both be in Tokyo at the same time, their schedules also miraculously matched - he hadn’t hesitated to invite her out. The actress had immediately agreed. Given their mutual busy schedules, they hadn’t been able to see each other these last two months, and mostly kept in touch through occasional exchanged messages on LINE.
This offer of lunch arrived just at the right time: it would be the perfect occasion to do some catching up.
Rena’s eyes lit up in recognition when she spotted from afar the Korean restaurant the actor had mentioned, relaxing a little when the latter didn’t seem to have arrived yet. Her interview with NHK had lasted a little longer than expected. At some point, Rena even got afraid that she might be forced to cancel their lunch, remembering that the actor couldn’t afford any important delay as he had another engagement in the afternoon in a completely different area of Tokyo.
Thankfully, she had been able to make it in time.
As Rena was waiting at a crosswalk for the light to turn green, the strong wind of Spring blew across her face, messing up her long brown hair that had been so neatly brushed for her previous interview. Raising her hand to brush back some hair that the wind had caressed out of place, she noted in surprise a few pink petals upon her shoulder. Soon, her attention got drawn to the majestic tree standing proudly on her right by the side of the road. The cherry tree responsible for the countless pink petals spread out on the asphalt all around her.
Carefully seizing between her fingers one of the petals that had fallen upon her black vest, she studied the delicate and fragile pink petal laying into the palm of her hand. She smiled reminiscently in spite of herself as a certain fond memory began to play back in her mind, and drifted five years back in time.
Rena checked her watch in apprehension, growing a little concerned as they were expected at the SKE theater in less than ten minutes. Thankfully, they were very close from their destination now. If there was one personality trait people had always associated with Rena, it was her impeccable punctuality. That’s why the mere idea of risking arriving late – even for just a few short minutes – and make the other members of the group wait, made her feel unquestionably a little uncomfortable. Increasing her pace, she didn’t have time to go far that a hand grabbed her arm from behind without warning.
“Rena, look!”
Halting abruptly, Rena turned around at the sound of Jurina’s enthusiastic voice, discovering her girlfriend contemplating a large cherry tree that they were passing by. So engrossed in her thoughts, Rena had admittedly not paid the slightest attention to her surroundings all the way here. Lifting her gaze, she took a brief moment to observe the cherry tree that was monopolizing Jurina’s attention.
A small smile inadvertently formed on Rena’s lips at Jurina’s childish amazement, before recalling that the clock was ticking. “We’re going to be late. I don’t want to make the others wait.”
“Yes…” Jurina replied but showed no sign of moving, her eyes still glued on the cherry tree as if she had never spoken.
Understanding that her girlfriend would need a little more convincing, Rena extended her arm to take her hand. “Juri-”
“Let’s take a picture together!”
Taken aback, it took Rena a few seconds to register what the other girl had uttered. “You want to take a picture now?” Rena repeated in bewilderment.
“Yes,” Jurina affirmed, turning around to face her. “Do you remember last week’s handshake event?”
“You mean, that morning when you sneakily took a picture of me in my sleep, and believed naively I would let you post it on social media?” Rena faked indignation.
“Yes, that day.” Jurina grinned maliciously.
“Then yes, I remember it perfectly.” An easy smile played at the corners of Rena’s mouth.  “Why are you asking?”
“While you were still sleeping, I took a peek outside from our hotel room’s window and noticed a cherry tree in a park nearby. As I was watching it from afar, something occurred to me…” Jurina’s expression stalled and grew serious. “These last seven years, our life has been so hectic, that there are simple things we never find time to do. Hanami will be over in a few days: I would like to take a picture with you before it’s too late.”
It wasn’t a caprice as she initially believed: Rena was now positively sure of it after listening to her girlfriend’s arguments. Rena didn’t know what had triggered this sudden urge but, the more she analysed the situation, the more it looked like Jurina was simply trying to make memories. Memories with her. If that was the case, then how could she deny her such a legitimate wish?
“Alright…” Rena smiled with affection. “Let’s take a picture, then.”
Jurina’s face brightened and, after taking her phone out of her pocket, tugged at Rena’s hand to bring her closer. Rena obliged and came to stand by her side, waiting patiently while Jurina raised her phone in the air to take a selfie. Rena gave her best smile to the camera and got herself prepared - expecting the other girl to take a picture at any moment – but was surprised when things didn’t go exactly as planned.
Indeed, Rena followed Jurina’s moves as the latter kept rotating the phone left and right and up and down, evidently failing to find an angle to her liking. Rena suppressed with difficulty her amusement at her girlfriend’s antics. “Would you like me to take the picture?”
“Why? I know how to take a selfie.” Jurina’s lips formed an adorable pout. “I’m only trying to take the best picture possible.”
“But it doesn’t have to be perfect.” Rena shook her head softly. “What’s important is that we’re both on the picture, no?”
The younger girl ignored her statement and continued her little game, moving her phone in every direction possible again and again. Unfortunately, that kind of behaviour was inevitable when you had Jurina Matsui – self-proclaimed and proud perfectionist – as a girlfriend. Rena couldn’t keep it to herself any longer. “You’re impossible…” Rena chastised her gently, stopping her motions at once when she covered Jurina’s hand with hers. “Let me do it, alright?”
After a moment of reflection, Jurina reluctantly relented, letting Rena take the phone away from her grasp. “I think this is a good angle.” Rena positioned the phone, after making sure she had both of them on the picture, and the best view possible of the cherry tree in the background. “Are you ready?”
“Wait, wait.” Jurina drew closer and circled her arm. “Alright, I’m ready!”
Jurina’s enthusiasm was so infectious that Rena couldn’t help laughing a little, a small click being heard the moment after as she took a picture. Lowering the device, she handled it back to Jurina, knowing the latter would definitely wish to inspect the result before moving on. “Do you like the picture, or do you want to take another one?”
“No, it’s perfect…” Jurina’s face alight with happiness. “I love it.”
Rena regarded her with amusement before stepping out from under the cherry tree - expecting her girlfriend to follow her - but was startled when she didn’t hear any sound of footsteps behind her. Turning around to see what the other girl was doing, she noticed that Jurina was still focused on her phone and even staring intensely at the picture taken.
“We should get going or we’re really going to be late.” Rena reminded her of the imminence of their rehearsal.
Jurina’s eyes shot up to meet hers. “Ah, you’re right.” She put her phone away and joined her side hurriedly.
As they began walking away, Rena was caught off guard when Jurina placed all of a sudden a quick kiss on her cheek. The unexpected action made her unconsciously slow down her steps, and she regarded the other girl quizzically. “What… What was that for?”
“Just a thank you kiss.” Jurina smiled brightly. “I really wanted to take a picture of us during hanami.”
Rena’s gaze travelled over her face, grasping by the joy shining in her girlfriend’s eyes how truly important it had been for her to capture such a moment of their relationship. Reaching for Jurina’s hand, Rena slipped casually her fingers inside hers. “Yes, it will make a nice memory…” Her eyes brimmed with tenderness. “Send me the picture later, alright?”
Rena blinked, Jurina’s image slowly dissipating from her mind as she perceived in the distance the voice of someone calling her name. Almost as if her brain was refusing to leave the comforting place this peaceful memory procured, she ignored the voice at first, but the second calling of her name - this time much closer and clearer – made her come back to her senses completely.
“I thought it was you. Admiring the view?”
“Y-Yosuke…” Rena’s eyes widened in astonishment when she discovered the male actor standing right in front of her. “Yes, I guess you could say that…” She turned to follow Yosuke’s gaze on the cherry tree.
“Spring is one of my favourite seasons.” Yosuke watched with keenly observant eyes the branches’ movements, as they suddenly wavered under the force of the wind. “When the cherry trees blossom and the petals cover the pavement like an eiderdown. It only happens two weeks a year, but I always try to find time to pause - even for a short moment - to marvel at such a beautiful, ephemeral phenomenon.”
Rena dragged her eyes away from the cherry tree, and watched the play of emotions on the actor’s face. Today, Rena was discovering for the first time an unexpected aspect of her friend’s personality: Yosuke had quite a romantic and poetic side to him. Rena looked down to her phone and went through the gallery, her index pausing on the screen when the précised picture she was searching for appeared.
As Rena observed with fondness the picture of she and Jurina smiling in front of a large cherry tree, she couldn’t help thinking that Yosuke was not the only one to share such charming personality traits.
Ten minutes later, Rena and Yosuke entered the Korean restaurant, settling down at a table before beginning to take a look at the menu. If there was something that Rena had learned about the male actor these last years, is that Yosuke was somewhat particularly fond of Korean food. When they happened to go out for lunch or dinner and it was Yosuke’s turn to choose the place, a Korean name would each and single time escape his lips.
The recurrence was somewhat comical, yet Rena didn’t mind Yosuke’s preferences. She might not share the actor’s undivided love for this food in particular, she still found it quite tasty and enjoyable. Reciprocally, Yosuke never refused when it was her time to choose the place and she opted for slightly more uncommon food, such as an Italian or French restaurant.
“I want to go abroad during the Golden Week,” Yosuke announced once the waiter had left with their orders. “Don’t get me wrong: I love my job but I have been so swamped with work lately, that I haven’t been able to take a single day off.”
“I know the feeling…” Rena sympathized with him. “These last ten years, I haven’t taken a lot of vacations either. I would love to take a few days off once in a while, but my schedule…”
“Yes, that’s the main issue. Our work schedules.”
Both actors shared a knowing smile.
“You said you wanted to go abroad.” Rena’s curious gaze fell on him at the new piece of information. “Did you have any place in mind?”
“Yes, I was thinking of going to Korea. I’ve always wanted to visit Seoul.”
“Why am I not surprised?” Rena didn’t bother to hide her amusement. “I think it’s a great idea. I really hope you’ll enjoy yourself.”
“Why don’t you come with me? It would give us the chance to try out even more Korean restaurants.”
Yosuke’s teasing tone made her smile. “I wish I could, but I’m planning on going back to my home town for the Golden Week. I haven’t seen my parents in a while and I promised I would visit them.”
“You’re from Aichi, right?”
“Yes. From Toyohashi,” Rena specified. “To be honest, I also want to travel. There are so many countries I would like to visit: especially in Europe. But I’m not sure when I’ll ever have time for that...”
Yosuke nodded in understanding. “I hope you’ll still manage to fulfil all your dreams. Life is too short: we should make the most of it while we can.”
“Maybe next year. Actually, I would really like to go to Par-,” Rena started, but didn’t have time to finish her sentence that she was interrupted by the sound of her phone beeping. “Sorry…” Rena winced, and shot her interlocutor a small apologetic look. “It must be my manager: she was supposed to get back to me to give me more details about today’s schedule.”
Rena seized the phone laying on the table and went through the text she had received, a text from her manager as she had rightly predicted. Making a mental note to remember the small time change of her afternoon photoshoot with UTB, Rena blinked in perplexity when – as she was about to mute her phone and put it away - noted the surreal number of notifications she had received from her Twitter account.
After leaving the television studio of NHK, she had already checked her Twitter account: even updating it by informing her followers of her work schedule of the afternoon. She hadn’t noted anything out of the ordinary. So what could possibly have happened during those thirty minutes? Another time, she would have waited to be alone to go through her social accounts, but this strange commotion piqued her interest.
The article that charged on her screen made her heart stop.
Jurina Matsui, 23 years old, announced her graduation today at the end of a live showcase in Nagoya.
Frozen in place, Rena stared at the screen in stupor. Almost as if to make sure of the veracity of the article and that it wasn’t just a weird, silly prank, she resumed reading and didn’t pause until she had arrived at the bottom of the article. As she studied next the white and black picture accompanying the news – showing a mature and calm Jurina answering the journalist’s questions – realization dawned on her that this important day had truly arrived.
Jurina Matsui, SKE’s last first-generation member, was sailing off to new horizons after a twelve years career in the idol group.
“Is everything alright?” Yosuke asked worriedly.
Rena jolted out of her musing and looked up to meet his eyes. They glanced at each other silently for a little while, until Rena opened her mouth when she finally found her voice back. “I just learned…” She fumbled with her words. “I just learned that Jurina announced her graduation.”
Yosuke looked faintly surprised. “She’s leaving the group and she didn’t warn you in advance? As you seemed close friends, I thought…”
“No, we…” Rena’s face clouded with uneasiness. “We haven’t spoken in three years.”
Yosuke was taken aback by the revelation. “Did something happen?”
Rena nibbled on her lower lip. “It’s… It’s complicated.”
“You know how much I hate to pry but...” Yosuke paused in hesitation. “If you need someone to talk to, I’m here. I don’t really know how you view our relationship, but I want to believe that we are friends. I’m a good listener and I would never betray your confidence. Don’t ever doubt that, Rena.”
“I think of you as a friend too.” Rena managed a small, tentative smile. “But it’s a long and complicated story. I’m not… I’m not the nice person you think I am. I’ve hurt people: people really important to me.”
“By people, you mean… Jurina?” Yosuke asked tentatively, receiving a small nod in reply. “It’s true I’ve never met her in person and I don’t know what kind of relationship you two had but I was sometimes present when you spoke on the phone with her during the shooting of Destiny. And, I saw the way you reacted when she won the SSK last year: you looked so happy for her. It’s obvious to me that you still care about her.”
“I don’t just care about her.” Rena smiled sadly and looked down to her phone, lingering on the article, and most especially on Jurina’s picture. “But none it matters anymore. I caused her so much pain: she’ll never forgive me. I’m not even sure I want her to.”
When Yosuke reached across the table to take her hand, she stiffened in reaction when he gave her fingers a light, comforting squeeze. “I don’t agree when you’re saying you’re not a good person. You feel and express remorse, and I genuinely believe that everyone deserves a second chance.”
From her peripheral vision, Rena noticed the waiter approaching their table. Slowly retracting her fingers from Yosuke’s grasp, she fell abruptly quiet, reflecting upon Yosuke’s words as the male employee placed both their orders on the table. Was it really not too late to mends things as he surprisingly seemed to believe? Did she and Jurina still have a chance to reconnect? Rena found herself terribly torn between two conflicted emotions.
The pragmatic side of her wanted to scold Yosuke for daring giving her false hopes. Surely, Jurina had already moved on: there was no use in stirring up the past and reopening old wounds. However, another more selfish side of her – tinged with nostalgia and feelings of love she had never managed to bury – foolishly wished that he could be right.

AKASO WT50 Review: Cheap and Cheerful Mini Projector
Our verdict of the AKASO WT50 Mini Projector: If you're looking for an ultra-affordable, ultra-portable pico projector, the AKASO WT50 will get the job done, but don't expect to use it in anything but the darkest surroundings.610
Sure, television screens are getting larger all the time, but if you want a truly large screen without spending tens of thousands of dollars, you need a projector. Of course, a 4K projector capable of display sizes upwards of 100 inches isn’t cheap either. Not everybody needs one of those.
That is why the mini-projector market has sprung up in the last decade or so. They aren’t the most capable, but they’re portable, affordable, and easy to set up and use. Unlike some other manufacturers, AKASO doesn’t lie about what its tiny WT50 Mini Projector is capable of, which is exactly why we think it’s worth a look.
AKASO WT50 Pico Projector AKASO WT50 Pico Projector Buy Now On Amazon $249.99
Specifications
The raw specs of the AKASO WT50 mini projector aren’t going to blow anyone away. Of course, at this price point, it’s a tough call as to who would be expecting incredible hardware specs in the first place. Still, it’s good to know what you’re dealing with.
Brightness: 50 ANSI Lumens
Resolution: 854×480
Dimensions: 5.71×3.15×0.79 inches
Weight: 0.64lbs
Projection Ratio: 1.19:1
Connectivity: Dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, 2x USB, SD Card slot
Battery: 3.7V, 5000mAh
Android Version: 7.1
As with any piece of technology, there’s a lot more to the performance than numbers on paper and name recognition of the components. First, let’s take a look at the whole package.
What’s in the Box?
Taking the top off the box, the first thing you’ll spy is the projector itself, neatly nestled in form-fitting foam. The bundled accessories are tucked into three separate cardboard boxes underneath, creating a platform for the projector to rest on top of.
In one box you’ll find a tripod with a pivoting head, letting you align the projector at often unnecessarily odd angles, but we’ll get to that later. In the other boxes, you’ll find the AC adapter, HDMI cable for use with external playback devices, remote control (batteries not included), the manual, and a warranty card.
Setting Up the AKASO WT50
Before you can start watching movies or TV shows, the projector requires a bit of setup. Fortunately, this is a relatively simple process and doesn’t take all that long.
AKASO recommends that you fully charge the WT50 before first use. The battery was already mostly charged so this didn’t take long. Still, I plugged in the power adapter before I powered the projector on, just in case. Powering on is a two-step process: First, set the slide switch to “On”, then press the power button right next to it.
Once the power is on, make sure you’ve got the projector pointed at a suitable surface (a white wall will do) and you can set up the rest. In my case, this meant connecting to Wi-Fi, but you can also set up using a wireless hotspot or no networking at all, assuming you’re plugging in external players.
Before you do that, you’ll need to adjust the focus wheel to get the picture looking sharp and in focus. This is also when you’ll want to try using the included tripod if you need it. The design of the tripod leaves quite a bit to be desired. It’s nice that it’s included, but the pivoting head means it’s far too easy to tilt the projector, making getting a level image from the projector a little tricky.
Connectivity
When it comes to wireless connectivity, the AKASO WT50 has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as mentioned earlier. I was actually surprised that the WT50 supported 802.11ac wireless networks, which isn’t always the case on these lower-cost devices.
The WT50 also has a few ports to make connecting other hardware easier. The full-size HDMI port makes plugging in Blu-ray players, streaming boxes, and game consoles easy. You also get a pair of USB ports, an SD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone / auxiliary audio jack.
If you want to play media from your phone, the AKASO WT50 supports a few different methods. You can use Wi-Fi Display (aka. Miracast), AirPlay, or a third-party app solution that requires you to download an app on your phone. Unfortunately in my testing, I was unable to connect to the AirPlay server on the projector despite trying with multiple devices.
Features & Interface
You’ve got two different ways to operate the AKASO WT50: the included remote and the touch interface on top of the projector. It’s handy that these are both included, as it means you’re not out of luck if you lose the remote.
The AKASO WT50 is powered by Android 7.1, meaning it’s a lot more capable out of the box than older, not-so-smart projectors. The Google Play Store is included, as well as a utility for sideloading apps in APK form. This means that you can install any streaming app you want and it should have a decent chance of working.
But don’t expect everything to work perfectly, especially with the included remote. Netflix, which is installed on the WT50 out of the box, worked with the remote long enough to sign in. After that, I thought the remote had quit working. Instead, it turned out that Netflix—at least this version—wasn’t working fully with the remote. Using the touch interface on top of the projector, navigating the menus worked fine, but this was less than ideal. Hopefully, a future firmware update may improve remote compatibility.
The location of the remote sensor is also a slight issue. It’s located on the back of the projector, but the remote is of the IR variety, meaning you need line of sight. Even if you’re a little off to the right or left, getting the remote to work can take some aiming.
Finally, the interface can be a little laggy at times. It’s not worse than a Fire TV Stick or similar device, and it’s not a big problem, but you’ll definitely need to be a little patient at times.
Picture: How Many P?
Mini or pico projectors aren’t often known for their high pixel counts, and this makes sense. It currently isn’t possible to make something that is capable of 4K resolution that is also small and affordable. Considering those last two points, it’s even tough to hit the 1080p mark without trouble. That said, you’ll see some that support 720p, even in this small size, like the Nebra Anybeam.
The WT50 accepts sources up to 1080p, but it’s not actually showing them at this resolution. Instead, the WT50 uses a native resolution of 854×480, while puts it at 480p. This means that as you push the size of the picture higher by moving the projector farther away from your screen, it’s getting blurrier all the time.
If you keep the screen size around 80 inches or less, it’s nowhere near as blurry as you might imagine. You’ll notice it more with text, especially navigating menus, but once you’re caught up in what you’re watching, you probably won’t notice it looking especially low resolution, unless you’ve just watched a 4K movie on a similarly sized screen.
The bigger problem with the WT50 is one that AKASO doesn’t shy away from: the limited brightness. At a peak brightness of just 50 ANSI lumens, this isn’t a bright projector. If you’re watching in a very dark room, the brightness isn’t a problem.
If you’ve got anything above minimal ambient light, the projector will struggle. Try watching something with sunlight streaming in the windows and you might as well just turn it off.
Sound Advice
It’s a very good thing that the AKASO WT50 offers both Bluetooth connectivity and a built-in 3.5mm audio jack. Why? Because the built-in sound, while functional, isn’t something you’ll ever really want to use if you have a choice.
This can’t really be helped, in AKASO’s defense. The WT50 is so tiny that there’s no way anyone could fit a speaker capable of creating movie-ready or even TV-ready sound inside. If you’re using this to quietly project a movie on to a close wall in the middle of the night—something I can’t imagine is all that common—the sound will be adequate, but only barely.
In my testing, I happened to have a Bluetooth-equipped soundbar nearby. Connecting the WT50 to this made a world of difference in making the movie feel more cinematic. Of course, if you’re using the WT50 for an outdoor movie night with the kids, you probably won’t be able to lug along a soundbar, but even a standard portable Bluetooth speaker will be a worthwhile upgrade.
Should You Buy the AKASO WT50?
As we mentioned at the very top of this article, AKASO doesn’t over-promise when it comes to the capabilities of the WT50. Fortunately, it doesn’t under-deliver either. This means that you’re getting exactly what you expect, which is strangely refreshing in this day and age.
That said, the WT50 isn’t for everybody. If you need higher resolutions or a projector you can use in anything resembling daylight, take a look at our favorite projectors for your home theater. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a portable projector to use outside for occasional outdoor movie nights and you don’t live in a brightly lit neighborhood, the WT50 may be just enough for what you need.

50 Cool Game Room Ideas for Entertainment
Not every home has a game room. After all, having one is a luxury. However, it is something families would like to have instead. An easily accessible place for recreation where the kids especially can hang out and their parents not having to worry about their children’s whereabouts.
Game room designs have different appeals, catering to a specific target audience. There are game rooms that are exclusively for video gaming, others with pools, ping-pong tables, and even arcade games. Given a lot of space, some game rooms can be quite extravagant with more recreational activities available for the entire family.
The interior designing is also an area of focus so that it follows the various themes suited to the game room activities or to the audience. Game rooms that are catered to adults would certainly have a different design to game rooms that are catered to teenagers or kids.
Here, we will show you examples of game room ideas to inspire you to have your own at home.
Game Rooms for Adults
A lot of game room ideas are designed to be “man caves”. Demanded by men to have a space of their own, their own game rooms complete with a bar full of drinks, TV to air their favorite sports, and a billiard pool or poker table (or even both) for him and his friends to bond over.
Here are some examples of game room ideas for adults!
Classic Transitional
Jauregui Architect
The grey walls and the dark tiled floor are complemented by the grey theme going on for this game room. The black and white accents and the low lights bring a dark and heavy atmosphere to the room. If it’s not enough, the masculine statue on the side emphasizes the room’s “masculinity”.
While the pool is the center of the room, there is a corner to lounge and watch sports which can be separated from the rest of the room with curtains.
From Scratch
Gramophone
An unfinished basement is transformed into this elegant multipurpose room that includes this gaming area. The low, dim lights help bring out the neutral color scheme of the room.
A billiard pool and foosball are present for leisure. There’s a little lounge area with TV where you can have drinks. A game table is also present for poker or other card games.
Safety Harbor Residence
Barbara Krai
In this residence, their game room idea combines both media and game rooms. A mini theater divides the room, the large TV splitting up the room into areas. A pool and a vintage arcade game is on one side. A bar and a poker table on the other side.
The chandeliers giving off low lights and the furniture truly bring out a vintage look to the room. The color scheme also complements the room’s theme.
Spectrum Game Room
Spectrum Technology Integrations
Instead of a basement or an attic game room which are usually closed off and with low ceilings, this one connects to the home’s living space. The open doors and windows bringing in natural light to the room.
Much like many game room ideas, this one also has a pool. It is accompanied with a game table that is most often used for card games.
Rich Minimalist
Jeff Paul Custom Homes
This one’s quite the minimalist but it looks rich and elegant with the wood flooring, the white walls, and the art wall decor that suits the game room’s ambience.
A mini bar is installed to one side of a recessed wall while the pool table takes center stage.
Casino Basement
Beaugureau Studios
The poker and craps tables make this home basement look like a casino and absolutely fit to be game room for the adults. The bar to the side adds to the casino ambience. There is also a portion where the adults can lounge and watch TV.
Game Rooms for the Family
Game rooms for the family have a lot more options for leisure which everyone can enjoy. Instead of the darker and more closed off and secluded game room ideas for adults, family game rooms are more spacious and brighter. As it is a shared room for both adults and kids, it must be a child-friendly space as well.
Take a look at our picks of family-friendly game rooms!
Texas Chic
Jauregui Architect
The first thing that catches your attention in this game room ideas are various seats available for seating while watching television. A shuffleboard is positioned just below the wall-mounted tele. On the side, by the giant window, is a game table.
The wooden beams with the modern seats make a great combination of a modern and chic game room.
Alabama Cabin
Solatect
This rustic game room ideas perfectly fits in with the rustic cabin home. The heavy and rustic sliding door will meet you as you enter this room. Despite the modern inlet lighting, the designers managed to add the rustic chandelier above the pool.
Even the pool table fits in with the rustic theme of the home. A ping-pong table is also present just next to the vintage arcade game. And in the corner, there is a small game table.
Italian Elegance
Jauregui Architect
At the heart of this Italian-styled game room is a pool table. Vintage arcade games, like Pac-Man, are found on one side of the room. On another side, a television is within view of a game table. Displays of sports memorabilia, like the table with baseballs, add into the room’s beauty.
The colors of the furniture match with room’s color scheme, giving in to the European-inspired design.
Craftsman on the Hill
Habitat Architecture
A minimalistic game room yet has a modern and vintage look to it. The chandelier and lighting system gives it the modern edge but the furniture and the framing bring vintage.
Without much other embellishments, this game room ideas has a small kitchen bar for the family. A pool table is in the center and a round book shelf is even available.
Leawood Basement
CHC Design-Build
This basement was remodeled into what the contractors describe as a “rustic, earthy, eclectic, and fun” game room. And rightfully so! Besides pool and foosball, vintage arcade games are also available for leisure.
A lounge area to watch television is located to one side when the family are tired of playing. Just a little outside, a curved bar is also installed.
Cross Lake 4
Lands End Development
Another rustic game room, but instead of being on the ground level, it’s on the top level of the house.
The high wooden ceilings are made beautiful with the geometric chandeliers. The furniture definitely complementing the rustic space. A television is present in which everyone can watch from whichever activity they are in, whether that would be playing ping-pong or board games on the game table.
Aptos Retreat
CCS Architecture
Located in the attic, this game room ideas has an industrial and modern look to it. With the way the ceiling is constructed with metal beams and the colorful cushioned seats, it looks a great combination of both style.
The windows and the skylight ceiling also brings in a lot of natural light to brighten up the room even more. All the while, an even brighter pool table sits in the middle of the room.
Esher Game Room
LT Designs
This modern game room has a lot of entertainment to choose from. The games take the most attention. A pool table sits in the middle and to the side are arcade games and a dartboard.
A retro jukebox is on the side near a mini bar that adds to a retro style on this corner of the game room. The wall-mounted television is also there for everyone’s pleasure.
Mediterranean Tuscan 8502
Sterling Custom Homes
This game room takes in the beautiful view of the sea with the large windows bringing in lots of natural light. There are available seats to just take in the view, a kitchen and dining table on the other side to refresh after a game.
Speaking of game, the pool table and shuffleboard table designs are customized wood beautifully carved out.
Mediterranean 7798
Sterling Custom Homes
A singular pool table stands in the center of the room with a minibar on to the side. There are several small televisions for pleasure watching.
A TV room with lounging sofas connects to the room, with only curtains to separate them.
St. Helena Hillside Hideaway
Jim Murphy & Associates
This residence has an entire rustic barn built for entertainment. While in the middle of it is a pool table, there is a lounging area where you can have drinks or play board or card games.
On the other side of the room is a mini bar and the bathroom.
Bennett Valley Retreat
Wade Design Architects
There’s a lot of natural light coming into this game room with the sliding doors on either side. It adds to the cozy atmosphere the room has with the comfortable lounging area just next to a long shuffleboard.
A game table with a board game stands as another option of leisure. There’s another lounging area outside for a breath of fresh air.
Sonoma Family Getaway
BK Interior Design
The black, white, and red color scheme brings a modern and clean style. A ping-pong table and dartboard are present. There is even a blackboard for the kids to draw on.
Instead of the usual couches and sofa chairs, this game room is littered with bean bags and swing pods.
Chateau Napoli
WDG Architecture
The high ceiling game room, lined with dark beams and white walls, is the look of a cozy, contemporary game room. A small pool table, air hockey table, and the shuffleboard table take up much of the space.
Two arcade games stand on either side of the wall-mounted television and a small table with high chairs. The room seamlessly connects to a balcony.
Hoosier Magnificence
Western Window Systems
The wooden walls and floor, as well as all the furniture, complete a rustic look to this game room. The high ceiling and the banks of window make the room feel even more spacious. The room is able to hold football, shuffleboard, air hockey, and vintage arcade games.
Not only that, there is a lounging area where you can watch movies via a projector.
Basement Remodel Ashburn
Moss Building and Design
This sleek media and game room was remodeled from what used to be a storage basement.
The media room flows right into the game room with a large pool table in the middle. A bar is set in place on the side. A built-in wall gas fireplace emphasizes the modernity of the room.
Glen Head Home Interior
WL Kitchen & Home
This game room is quite extensive and extravagant. Besides the usual pool table and game table (this one has two: one that could be used for poker and other card games, the other with a chessboard), arcade games and a mini bar are also available.
One part of the wall is made into a cabinet which stores a collection of toys and figurines. You can even take a peek of an open wine cellar that is connected to the room.
YC Summit Residence
Locati Architects
This residence boasts off its own bowling alley, albeit it being small. The walls of the bowling alley room closely resembling a tunnel going into a mine. Even the lamps resemble those old oil lamps.
The design starkly contrasts modernity of the bowling game, making it an interesting choice of design.
Three Peaks Colorado
Design One Interiors
This game room has quite the number of arcade games lined up on almost every side of the room. The room is made to resemble a lot like an arcade.
Even so, there’s a small table for board games and a shuffleboard table as well. The ceiling’s lights even change from blue to green to red to yellow, adding to the fun atmosphere of the room.
Crazy Fox Lodge

Meadowlark Design + Build
A modern and friendly game room came to be upon the remodeling of this basement. Unlike the other basement game rooms featured here, this one lacks the spaciousness of those. The pool table can be switched the with the ping-pong table underneath.
A dartboard is also in place right next to what appears a study or work desk, a small couch in between. The arrangement effectively turns the basement a recreational and study room.
Entertainment Paradise
Knight Architects
As you enter this room, the first thing that will meet you is the Pirates of the Caribbean arcade game. A game table and a dome hockey game just right next to it. A pool table is also present as an added form of entertainment.
Take notice of the customized shelving that surrounds the couch, displaying what looks to be a collection of figurines. Meanwhile, a part of the wall is dedicated to hanging framed movie posters, owning up to the “entertainment” theme of the room.
Lower Level Finish
Remodeling & Painting Experts
The residents of this home appear to be hockey fans. Not only do they boast of several framed hockey jerseys on the wall, they have air hockey and dome hockey tables present in the room.
But aside from these game tables, there is a piano sitting in the room so hopefully someone can play something while everyone else is busy on their respective games.
Sports Retreat
Knight Architects
This game room’s main theme is sports. On the walls are framed sports jerseys and tennis racket, emphasizing the love for sports by the residents. Vanderbloemen
Fusion Bowling
This beautiful house in Virginia has quite the extensive game room. The basement is complete with a bowling alley, game table, bar, and a TV room. The residents and the contractors definitely took advantage of the space. One would even think that this was a bowling center and not somebody’s basement.
Deer Crest
Elevation Design Group
Moving on to more spacious basement game rooms. Not only does this residence have a bowling alley, but it also has a mini basketball court and another one beside it.
There are also seats laid around for lounging. And though not pictured, this residence’s game room has its own climbing wall.

This basement room is an arcade heaven without having to leave home. The room is filled with various arcade games, some pool tables, and a center bar where you can replenish all your energy spent in playing.
Game Rooms for Teens & Kids
The youth today enjoy a lot of computers and video gaming. Some old-school board and card games are also not forgotten. Creating such spaces that provide either or both of those seems necessary for them. Especially for teenagers, it is important to give them their own space to have fun and be themselves.
Kids, too, need activities and a room to learn and have fun. Hence, having a game room in your home is more often a good option to have.

The blue walls, wooden floor, and that colorful carpet gives the room a more vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
Zorrilla Kids Room
Robeson Design
This room was made especially to be the kids’ playroom. While it is equipped with a television and video gaming set, this room is set with lots of fun board games. All the games are organized neatly in shelves and the color scheme, with green being a dominant color, definitely brings a clean and engaging atmosphere for the kids.
Upper East Side Townhouse
Blair Harris Interior Design

That’s it for some great game room design ideas! Hopefully, this list has helped you come up with your own game room design.

With the fall semester officially over, much of my December was spent reading and watching up TV. Unfortunately, I basically had a cold when I came home from school for winter break that lingered around until Christmas. It went back and forth from going away to getting worse over the course me having it, likely not being helped by my winter break job either.
In short, feeling a bit under the weather gave me more of an excuse to spend some time resting and catching up on all the books and TV shows. While I’m really content with the amount and the actual books I read, I’m also glad I spent a lot of time this month with family and best friends. I had such a great, but very busy fall semester with an already equally busy January and spring semester ahead that it’s been really nice to relax and recharge.
My December reading was primarily split between some (okay, two) fantasy conclusions and plenty of contemporary and contemporary romance.
Archenemies (Renegades #2) by Marissa Meyer | My Rating: 4/5 Stars
I’ve really enjoyed this superhero-inspired series from Marissa Meyer so far, although I feel that Archenemies suffered from middle book syndrome.
The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams | Rating: 5/5
My favorite read of the month, my love for The Bromance Book Club inspired the rest of my contemporary reading in December.
The Queen of Nothing (Folk of Air #3) | Rating: 2/5
I had such high hopes for The Queen of Nothing given my love for The Wicked King, but was unfortunately really dismayed with this trilogy conclusion.
One Day in December by Josie Silver | Rating: 5/5
The only strictly holiday read on my December TBR, I’m so glad I finally got to One Day in December because I loved it so much!
How to Build a Heart by Maria Padian (ARC) | Rating: 4.5/5
I also got a small start of my 2020 review reads with How to Build a Heart, which featured many of my favorite YA contemporary elements with its own twists.
Intercepted (Playbook #1) by Alexa Martin | Rating: 5/5
Hi my name is Haley of Fangirl Fury and sports romance is one of my new favorite genres, much in thanks to Alexa Martin’s Playbook series.
Meg & Jo by Virginia Kantra | Rating: 4/5
Contemporary was the name of my reading game this month, and with the new adaptation out, I had to have some Little Women reimagined reads.
Little White Lies (Debutantes #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes | Rating: 4/5
Little White Lies had been on my TBR for what feels like forever, so I’m happy I finally got to it and enjoyed it this month.
Deadly Little Scandals (Debutantes #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes | Rating: 4.5/5
While I enjoyed Little White Lies, I absolutely adored Deadly Little Scandals. I think it had something to do with already being so familiar with the characters and the ending of book #1, but I love how the plot and twists began right from the get-go.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel S3 (Amazon Prime)- The third season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was my most anticipated show of the year, which made it even harder to have to wait until December! While I didn’t love it as much as season two (my favorite season), it still absolutely delivered and I really enjoyed each episode. I have no idea how season 4 will go, but I’m hoping we don’t have to wait over a year to find out.
Merry Happy Whatever S1 (Netflix)- I always try to watch holiday-inspired shows and movies in December, which led me to Merry Happy Whatever. This show was the right kind of cheesy for me. I felt like I re-entered my Disney Channel days, since the show stars Bridgit Mendler and Ashley Tisdale. I hope there is a second season next year!
Sugar Rush Christmas (Netflix)- Sugar Rush is my favorite baking show, so I was more than excited for its holiday edition. This is one of my favorite shows to relax to and watch with my sisters.
Glow Up S1 (Netflix)- The weekend I felt the worst was spent reading in bed and alternating between three different Netflix shows. One of those was Glow Up, a U.K.- based reality makeup competition. This was a really fun binge-watch and another show I would love to have a second season.
High School Musical the Musical series (Disney+)- Unfortunately, one of my sisters was also a bit under the weather this month. Fortunately though, we spent a day home together catching up on High School Musical the Musical (say that three times fast) series. As someone who grew up with the HSM movies and really had no expectations going in, this show has been such a pleasant surprise. It reminds me of a more PG and cheesy version of Glee.
Virgin River S1 (Netflix)- My sick weekend was also spent watching Virgin River, the romantic drama series based on Robyn Carr’s book series.
Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi (Disney+)- With Disney+, my mom has decided that it is our mission to watch all of the Star Wars movies. I am here to admit that prior to our family watch, I hadn’t seen any Star Wars movies in full. As someone who isn’t the biggest sci-fi fan, I’ve actually enjoyed them way more than expected! I’m not sure I’ll be able to watch the first 8 movies in time to see The Rise of Skywalker in theaters, but I’m hoping so! I also might look into picking up some Star Wars canon books as well.
Burlesque (Netflix)- I was flipping through Netflix one night and had hovered over Burlesque, which ended up starting the movie which then led me to watching the entire movie right then and there. As someone who really enjoys musical movies, I’m surprised I hadn’t watched this one before because I really enjoyed it!
Living With Yourself S1 (Netflix)- While waiting for my family to sit down and watch Empire Strikes Back on Christmas Day, my sister and I randomly put on Living With Yourself and ended watching the first three episodes right then and there. We finished it three days later! I liked it way more than I thought I would and am definitely interested in a second season.

Aside from watching what basically feels like everything on every streaming platform, I didn’t do anything too bookish or fangirlish IRL this month. Here’s some bookish & fangirl news that has me really excited though:
The trailer for P.S. I Still Love You dropped!!- We now have the full trailer for my most anticipated film of the year, P.S. I Still Love You. Based on how much I loved the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before adaptation, I couldn’t be more than excited for this movie. Since the first movie delved into book #1, I’m interested to see where the movie picks up book #2 and how similar the story stays. P.S. I Still Love You comes out on Netflix on Feburary 12. The trailer made me realize that its release date is on Wednesday. Since it’s right in the middle of school week, I might make myself avoid Twitter for a few days and come home from school for the weekend and watch it on home vs. my laptop in my dorm room.
The full trailer drop for Schitt’s Creek S6- Schitt’s Creek stole my heart in 2019, and so did the full trailer for its final season. On the one hand, I’m so sad for this show to come to an end, but on the other, I think this season will be such a fantastic conclusion. The final season premieres on Pop TV on January 7.
There’s a premiere date for the Little Fires Everywhere adaptation- The television adapation of Celeste Ng’s Little Fires Everywhere will premiere on Hulu on March 18. Since Little Fires Everywhere is one of my all-time favorite reads, this means that I have until then to get Hulu – or once again borrow my best friend’s password.
Thank you so much for supporting Fangirl Fury in 2019. I hope you have a relaxing & joyful holiday season and a happy & healthy New Year. Here’s to reading ALL the amazing books in 2020!
What did you read and watch in December? Have you read or watched anything that I mentioned? Share in the comments

Bring Back Date Night: Fun & Unusual Date Ideas on a Budget
New Post has been published on http://healingawerness.com/news/bring-back-date-night-fun-unusual-date-ideas-on-a-budget/
Bring Back Date Night: Fun & Unusual Date Ideas on a Budget
When my husband and I were newly married, we didn’t have much money, but it didn’t matter because our favorite thing to do was just spend time together. Of course, life and kids happened and while it is wonderful, it does make it a little tougher to spend quality time alone.
We’ve been working on ways to rekindle that early dating spontaneity and find fun, creative, and even unusual date ideas to try (and not just on Valentine’s Day or other special occasions!).
Experts say that weekly date nights help couples have more intimate and lasting relationships. I’m lucky to have a romantic and adventurous husband (he’s Italian) who helps break the “dinner and a movie” routine and try new things.
Maybe one of these ideas will sound like something you’d like to try!
Date Nights: Then vs. Now
Pre-kids, when we wanted to go on a date, we would just go. Usually it was something free or very inexpensive because we were on such a tight budget, but even a walk at the park or a picnic was great.
As any parent of young children can probably appreciate, these days, going on a date is more of a ten-step process:
Decide to actually go on a date and have enough time to ask the other person if they want to go
Call 3-5 people until you finally find a babysitter
On day of date, pre-make food for whichever meal you’ll be missing at home so the kids are well fed (I don’t do this anymore since I found this shortcut)
If the date is at night, also pre-bathe children so the babysitter doesn’t have to
Remind kids to clean rooms, do chores, etc.
Find something to wear … if you’re an overachiever, maybe even put on makeup
Make list of all instructions and emergency contacts for babysitter
Finally make it out the door to go on the date
Almost fall asleep during dinner/movie/etc. because you have small children and aren’t used to staying awake after 9:30 PM
Come home to find all the kids are still awake, and drive babysitter home
This of course isn’t to say that it isn’t worth it to get out kid-free once in a while, but if staying in for a date is more practical, the good news is there are still ways to make it special (and without doing the same old thing).
Date Cost: Then vs. Now
The cost to go on a date has changed a lot too over the years!
It used to cost $0-$10 to go out with my husband because we would go for a walk or hike, or to a free event at a local outdoor theater. If we were really splurging, we would go to a bar for drinks, dinner, and a movie.
Now, a babysitter usually costs at least $40+ for an evening, a nice-ish dinner is easily $50+, and if we went to a movie that is another $22. $112 for a basic dinner and a movie seems like a lot, especially since it can be hard to find healthy, real food options and my husband prefers to watch movies at home.
Fun Date Ideas (At Home or Out!)
We decided long ago that we would make weekly date nights a priority, but also that many of these date nights would happen at home after the kids were in bed (cheaper, easier, and not a problem if we fall asleep by 10 PM).
Over the years, I’ve developed a list of some of our favorite at-home date ideas. We’ve found that even if we are just spending uninterrupted time together after the kids go to bed but are intentionally not on our phones or laptops, we have a great time and can rekindle some of that fun, quality time spontaneity and romance of our early dating and married years.
1. Massage (My Favorite)
The whole lots-of-babies-in-8-years has made me a big fan of getting a massage. Pregnancy, nursing, and now carrying around toddlers are a big demand on the body and every mom could use a good massage. Unfortunately, a good 60-minute massage can cost at least $80 in most locations.
While there are some great massage devices to use at home (this is my favorite), a much more romantic way is to try an at-home massage course.
This Melt Massage for Couples course is taught by a husband and wife team in a really easy-to-learn format. It’s the gift that keeps on giving, now that we both actually know how to give a good massage!
2. Sports (His Favorite)
You might think my husband would have to con me into this one, but watching a sporting event is one date night we both enjoy equally. We share favorite baseball and football teams and have weekly dates to watch games.
For big anniversaries or birthdays, I’ll try to work out getting actual tickets to a game so we can go together.
3. Chess
If you don’t already have a chessboard and set, you can pick up an inexpensive one and learn to play together. It’s fun and great for your mind, and also a great game to teach your kids!
4. Rekindle the Fire (Literally)
We built a fire pit in our backyard and some of our favorite at-home dates involve sitting by the fire, sipping wine, and just talking. Lights aren’t just for Christmas … hang a string or make these homemade tiki-torches to create a romantic and cozy backyard atmosphere.
5. Documentary Date
We enjoy watching documentaries together and often this leads to good conversation about a controversial topic. Some great documentaries that are available on Netflix or Amazon to stream online are:
Jiro Dreams of Sushi
Fed Up
The Business of Being Born (my fave, definitely not his)
Man on Wire
Microbirth (another one I liked)
Free Solo
There are literally hundreds of options depending on what type of documentaries you like.
6. Personality Quizzes
Sitting on the couch tonight? Try one of these free personality tests you can take online, either just for fun, or to learn something about each other:
7. Go for a Hike
These require a babysitter or leaving home unless you happen to live on a lot of land, but spending time outdoors and disconnected from technology is a great way to reconnect. Look up local parks and try a new spot you haven’t explored!
8. Watch a New Show
Not a groundbreaking date idea, but still relaxing and cheap! We don’t watch much TV, but over the years there have been a few series that we’ve really enjoyed and that gave us an excuse for regular date nights at home. We definitely pair this idea with a nice glass of our favorite wine.
9. Cook Together
Another activity that I probably enjoy more than my husband does, but cooking together can be a lot of fun, especially when trying new recipes (I might know where you can find some…) or cuisines. Pick a recipe to make together. If you have the time, pick a movie that corresponds to the cuisines and enjoy dinner and a movie. Make an Italian meal and watch an Italian movie together, or try your hand at sushi-making and watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi.
10. Breakfast Date
Dinner is the typical date meal, but no need to leave out the others! Breakfast is a healthier (and cheaper) meal to eat out. Head to a diner or local restaurant for an early morning date, and reserve the rest of the day for some good couple time. It can also be easier to get babysitters on a Saturday morning or let your kids play at a friend’s house.
11. Embark on an Adventure
This is my husband’s favorite type of date, and it fits well with our decision to stick to experiences instead of material gifts. I’ve enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone on some of our more adventurous dates. One memorable year we went scuba diving, but there are tons of possibilities! Visit an indoor rock climbing gym, go kayaking (another one of ours), race go-karts, try ice skating (not my favorite!), or if you are really brave … try karaoke!
12. Around the World at Home
This is a recurring date theme for us. Going out can be difficult with little ones, so plan a fun date themed around ethnic foods and enjoy it at home once the kids are in bed. Make your own sushi and eat on the floor. Make healthy Mexican food and watch a movie in Spanish. Make fondue and eat by candlelight. Whatever you choose, set the mood with music and decorations to make it fun! Even if you don’t go for ethnic foods, enjoy a late-night date at home and cook for each other! This is also a budget-friendly way to keep the romance alive.
13. Go Camping
This certainly isn’t for everyone, but it usually promises to be a bonding experience and is really healthy for you too. Always fun as a family, but if you can sneak away for a night, go camping as a couple. The alone time around the campfire will give you a chance to really catch up, and the potential for unforeseen circumstances (wild animals, rain, etc.) makes it an adventure.
14. Volunteer
This is a great way to get closer as a couple. Once we tried it, I wished we’d started right away as a newly married couple. Focus on a cause you both believe in and volunteer together. This is something great to do with kids too. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, raise money for a cause, or pick a service project at your church. It might make you grateful for what you have and will certainly be some quality time with your love! Another advantage … spreading the love doesn’t cost a thing!
15. Visit a Local Attraction
We often forget about the things that others come to our town to see. Go to a play at the community theater or check out the comedy club. Find an arboretum or botanical garden and walk around. Hit the batting cages or mini golf or even just browse the bookstore together and talk over a cup of coffee. If it is in season, visit an orchard or pick-your-own farm or take a tour of a local brewery or vineyard.
16. Exercise or Do an Activity Together
Exercise can be fun as a couple! Pick a new sport to learn: tennis, racquetball, basketball, or swimming… just pick something you enjoy. For an activity, go miniature golfing, paint pottery together, take dance or painting lessons, or go bike riding or canoeing. These are often the best times to talk and you get the chance to develop a new hobby or skill.
17. Paint Each Other’s Portrait
Feel a little funny staring into each other’s eyes? Painting a portrait is the perfect excuse! Reconnect in an unusual way by reviving or learning a new skill. Lots of laughs will be had, I promise! It’s ok to just have fun with it, but I also recommend an online class from Udemy if you really want to learn some new skills.
18. Just Do Nothing!
Seriously … all parents know it’s harder than it sounds! Once the kids are in bed (and repeatedly threatened asked to return to bed), choose to de-stress by ignoring everything else that needs to be done. (Ignore electronics, too… hide them if you have to!)
Dim the lights, light some beeswax candles, turn on some relaxing music, and just hang out together. Talk, sleep, cuddle, laugh… just like the old days!
Most Importantly: Turn Date Ideas into Reality
Making time to spend as a couple can be much more challenging than it should be, especially with kids. Make the decision to make your relationship a priority. Take the time to brainstorm new date ideas and make them happen… no need to wait for a time like Valentine’s Day to have an excuse to spend time together!
What was your best (or worst) date ever? Would you try any of the date ideas above?

The Best Home Theater Projectors for Small Spaces
Did you know that building a home theater in a small space can cost less than $500? We can’t think of a better investment for a small space, especially at that price. Some of the best home theater projectors cost less than 300 dollars, and the going rate of building your own screen is a couple hundred dollars.
On the other hand, there are more high-end options to consider.
It all comes down to three things:
Budget
Space
Taste
Let’s talk about the best home theater projectors, and how to build them into a small space.
Best Home Theater Projectors? It depends on your budget!
The first thing to think about when picking out the pieces of a new home theater is a budget. How much is available to spend? How tight is that number? Is there wiggle room? Is the goal to spend less than that amount?
The questions are countless. Things can and will be simplified if a budget and a goal are defined right up front.
Have that number? Let’s get to it.
Under $500
Sometimes less is more. Agree? One of these less expensive projectors might do the trick for your home theater.
Dihome LCD 1200
If you’ve got a small space and a small budget, the Dihome Mini Video Projector might be the perfect fit for you.
It is made specifically for a small projection space, in addition to these goodies:
The lamp duration is more than its competitors at 50,000 hours
It includes a built-in stereo sound system
Small but mighty, the Dihome Mini Video Projector typically costs less than 100 dollars!
ViewSonic PJD5155 3300
Another keenly priced projector, the ViewSonic PJD5155 3300 is undoubtedly one of the best home theater projectors for a small space.
Some of our favorite pluses about this projector are:
Projecting distance is impressive, up to 30-feet
It weighs less than 5lbs so it can be portable if necessary
Perhaps having the best bang for your buck, the ViewSonic PJD5155 3300 can be yours for about 300 dollars.
$500-$1,000
If the number you came up with earlier falls in this range, one of our top picks is sure to be the next-best-thing you invest in for your home.
BenQ W1070 DLP
One of the best home theater projectors on the market is the BenQ W1070 DLP. It is middle of the road as far as cost goes and packs a lot of punch for the price.
We like this projector for quite a few reasons:
3D content performs well
The quality of the picture is the best for the price
Ambient light does not affect the performance or the specs
The color accuracy is unmatched
Optoma HD27
The Optoma HD27 is a small step up from the BenQ W1070 DLP, but it could be a better fit for what you’re looking for.
Here are some of the bonuses when choosing this projector:
Comes with a one-year limited warranty
The picture quality is HD
In addition, the bulb comes with a 90-day warranty.
BenQ 2050 DLP HD
Our last pick for a middle-grade projector, also a candidate for one of the best home projectors, is the BenQ 2050 DLP HD.
Why? Check it out:
The 1080p projector is 3D
Boasts a “whisper quiet” operation system, offering the lowest fan noise
Includes SmartEco technology for the green-oriented home
The BenQ 2050 DLP HD also comes with a one-year limited warranty.
$1,000 and up
Whether money is no object or if you’ve been saving and have a big budget, these top-of-the-line projectors can change your life as much as they can change your home.
Epson 5040UB
As avid believers in Epson products, this projector has so many features, it will be hard to sum them all up.
But, here we go:
HDR compatible imaging
4k enhancement technology
Amazing gaming experience
Comes with 10 adjustable lenses
If you’ve got the budget and decide to bring one of the best home theater projectors to your small space, the Epson5040UB could very easily be “the one.”
  Sony VPLVW350ES 3D XRD
Go big or go home, right? We don’t recommend this projector unless gaming is a huge part of your life. If it is, then read on.

Space
It doesn’t matter if you live in a 300-square foot studio or are working with an average-sized bedroom, a home theater is possible in any situation. You just have to be dedicated.
All of the projectors we’ve talked about are potential winners for home theaters in small spaces.
After all, if there’s a will there’s a way.
Use what you’ve got
Take a good look around your small space. What do you see?
Find the ideal location for your new home theater. It might be hard to visualize at first, but most people have a general idea of where they’d like to start and finish this project.
Some good tips to discovering the perfect spot for your home theater are looking for spaces:
that are not being used
with a build up of “stuff” having no real purpose
with a large wall either available or potentially available to use
Congratulations! You’ve officially picked out your new home theater (home theater space, that is).
Build up, not out
When it comes to seating, remember to build up and not out. Consider building a platform for the second row of seating. By doing this, you’ll be keeping your small space as open as possible.
Seating isn’t the only thing to go vertical with. Build your home theater so that speakers and the projector aren’t taking up any floor space.
Once you’ve purchased of the best home theater projectors, build a functional shelf for it. That way you can use it as needed, and store it the rest of the time.
For speakers or sound systems, try installing them in the walls or ceiling of your small space.
Remember, when it comes to small spaces, every inch of open floor matters!
Best home theater projector for your taste
Now that you’ve got your shiny new projector, a crazy awesome screen, and super comfy seating, it’s time to maximize your new home theater.
Depending on your taste, here are some ideas for breaking it in:
Host a neighborhood movie night (apartment-wide movie night works, too!)
Have a sporting event watch-party
Dive into the latest trending TV show and round up a group to have weekly watch parties
Gather your friends for an award show viewing party
Host a gaming tournament with your best pals

Top 10 hottest 'Star Wars' toys and collectibles for that special Jedi geek
Now that the latest installment of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is tearing it up in the theaters, what better time to give you some ideas on what to get that Star Wars fan who has everything. Movie geeks can be hard to please, but these special holiday gift ideas will bring a smile to every fan. With the revival of the Star Wars saga, many of us have become excited to share the fandom with our children. This means that not only do we have adults collecting memorabilia from their favorite films, but we also have kids wanting to have toys they can actively play with from the same films. This gives us a lot of room for overlap, where the entire family may want to play with and enjoy merchandise from the Star Wars franchise. We have had a look at what is available and these are our top ten picks for family-friendly Star Wars toys. Revell 85-1636 Star Wars Snaptite Build and Play Imperial AT-AT Cargo Walker Building Kit  – product link If your family are crafty, or fond of assembling maquettes and models, then this may be perfect for you. This iconic AT-AT Walker can be built from scratch at home by adults, teenagers, and older children. The end result is a reasonably play-friendly toy that all can enjoy. Revell SnapTite Build & Play Imperial Star Destroyer Building Kit – product link Another kit the family can enjoy. This kit allows teens and adults from the family to build their very own imperial star destroyer from scratch. The end result is highly playable and very attractive, although not really recommended for children that are very young, due to its small parts. It makes a great display piece. Bandai Hobby Star Wars 1/72 Tie Fighter Building Kit – product link Tie fighters are another iconic part of the Star Wars universe, and your family can build one together then you can play with. Bandai is known for producing high-quality merchandise, too, so you can rest assured you're getting a great model with amazing detail. Fascinations Metal Earth Star Wars X-Wing  – product link Another great addition to your collection, this X-Wing model is easy for most of the family to assemble, and absolutely stunning when done. It is not really recommended for playing with, though, as this model is a bit more fragile than the others. Perplexus Star Wars Death Star – product link Want to own your very own Death Star so you can re-enact and re-imagine your favorite Star Wars scenes? This Death Star is a clear-walled maze that you need to navigate to destroy the Death Star itself. The puzzle is challenging, and great fun for older kids to complete on their own or together. LEGO Star Wars Resistance X-Wing Fighter 75125 – product link If Lego and active, the rowdy play is more your family's style, this kit is just right for you. It allows you to assemble your own X-Wing, but one you can play with and create big battles with. It still looks lovely on a shelf, but there is no harm done if the kids want to play with it either. LEGO Star Wars Yoda's Jedi Starfighter 75168 Star Wars Toy – product link Another great Star Wars product from Lego, this one features folding wings, a mini-figure cockpit, enough space for R2D2 to fit in, laser cannons, and spring-loaded shooters, for active play and scene re-enactment. It also includes Yoda and R2D2 mini-figures to play with, as well as a lightsaber and ammo for your shooters. LEGO Star Wars AT-ST Walker 75153 Star Wars Toy – product link This AT-ST Walker is made for Lego war. It has posable legs, a wheel-activated turning top, and a cockpit and hatches that open, with detailed interiors for your three mini-figures. It features spring-loaded shooters and front guns, as well as weapons for the mini-figures. Star Wars Bop It Game – product link Fancy playing a fun game of Bop It with R2D2? Of course you do! This new twist on an old game makes for a fun evening for all the family. It is also a great game for kids' and teens' parties. Playskool Heroes Star Wars Galactic Heroes Millennium Falcon and Figures – product link This portable Millennium Falcon is great fun for the whole family to play with. You can play at making it fly, recreate the Episode IV escape scene, and have fun. It includes Han Solo and Chewbacca, as well as R2D2 and several attachments.
Bonus Idea for the Star Wars Fan Who Has Everything
Miracle Star Wars Last Jedi Sweaters - Star Wars Holiday Darth Vader Storm Trooper – product link Just in time for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" hitting theaters.
