The valkyries rightly didn't choose anyone from the seattle storm, since the unprotected ones were all free agents (if they had chosen them they would have become core players of the valkyries). Gabby next year won't want to become a core player, they are all waiting for new contracts and I think she won't play a full season (it would be crazy considering the number of games in 2025 and the fact that she hasn't had a break since the olympics and in seattle she played an average of 35 minutes and seattle's bench is one of the worst and quinn didn't rotate). Seattle has many problems: not only the jewell trade, but also with all the free agents: besides gabby they have nneka, russell, vivien, holmes, sami. Seattle is in chaos. Plus you have nika who broke her acl in september. With the jewell issue I think they lost a bit of credibility especially towards the players they would like to attract (also we don't know how the other teammates took the matter, only russell had expressed herself). Something has to change and they can't play like they've always done only with the starters and one or two players, never using the bench (semi-non-existent) in a decent way. Seattle's management has been making me turn up my nose lately. They could, as I've heard, build the game on Ezi (sds and nneka have been there ds for 1 year and they're 34 years old). Gabby, you don't know what she'll do and if she'll play a whole season, the WNBA is not her priority (maybe she'll change her mind from 2026, with the new contract). I just wanted to add that with the amount of games that there will be, you can't win without a bench and now more than ever it's important (something that the NYL team has and that Seattle absolutely doesn't have). Also, with 3 games a week, everyone can become "starters".

They need to build a bench to make their team stronger and more competitive. Gabby deserves a break, maybe she'll be Jojo's WAG next season. And the situation has hurt Seattle and Jewell (more the staff of course, but still) because now people are wondering if it wasn't her camp that tipped off the Chicago Sun so she could leave, which is not something you want on your squad (it reminds me of football player).
