hey there, lovebugs!

it’s pretty hot so i wanted to make a quick post about ways to stay cool and have fun in this weather!

mist and fan

-> use a spraybottle to mist your face with water, then wave a fan overtop! it’ll feel nice and cold on your skin.

you can use a rotary fan or paper one! i like using cute colorful ones.

clothing

-> be sure to dress for the weather!

follow the four S: shorts, skirts, and sleeves.

leave skin uncovered to let your body cool itself down naturally. if you go outside and have sensitive skin, thin sleeves might be good to prevent burning.

it’s also a nice opportunity to dress up! if you have some cute skirts or shorts, or even going to the store and looking for some!

remember that dark colors absorb heat, so try to dress in lighter colors if you can.

snacks

-> stock up on cold snacks!

popsicles, smoothies

my favorite is getting yogurt and freezing it so it’s like a popsicle. you can also add nuts, fruit, and chocolate! yogurt bites are also freezable.

online you can find lots of recipes for homemade ice pops. lmk if you’d like a post about that!

fruit and veggies are a great way to also stay hydrated!

washing

-> stay cool and clean! wash your bike, car, sidewalk, animal, whatever else needs cleaning! it can be a fun and productive activity without getting too warm.

games

-> there are lots of water games to play with yourself and others!

ice digging - freeze a toy in ice and use a tool to get it out!

painting - use cold water to paint on the sidewalk or fence. see what you can do before it dries up!

sponge run - get two buckets and a sponge. fill one bucket with water, and set the other one a distance away. set a minute timer. soak your sponge with water, then run and squeeze it into the empty bucket! see how much you can get before time is up.

games w/ others

-> any of the above games can be played by multiple people. these are specifically multiplayer!

balloon toss - stand across from each other, one person holding a water balloon. toss it to each other and try not to break it! for bonus points, toss two at the same time.

scavenger hunt - have someone hide water balloons (or another item). then the other person has a set amount of time to find them. switch positions. whoever finds the most, wins!

miscellaneous

-> refrigerate your lotion before putting it on

-> cold cloth on your wrists/neck/ankles

-> go to a waterpark or make a slip’n’slide

-> play in a sprinkler, lake or pool

-> have a watergun or hose fight

-> put ice in front of a fan

and of course…

-> stay hydrated!! drink LOTS of water!

juice, fruit, and popsicles help to stay hydrated, but nothing is better than some nice cold water.

-both you and ryu will engage in spraying yohei countless times with a water gun whenever he's not looking... it annoys him to no end especially when you do it when he's trying to relax.

-although he's not one to get wet, he'll get in the hot tub with you (if there is one) and sit there with his cigarette or drink while he supervises from afar. with the occasional scolding towards ryu..

-he so tells you that you're acting childish every time you spray him with the water gun and run away as if he'll run after you. he always rolls his eyes and sighs, a fond smile on his face when you run off... as much as he doesn't want to get soaked, your smile means much more to him than that.

-as much as you're running around, he'll be sure to have a chair next to him ready for you to rest in once you've tired yourself out. he'll tell you to sit on a separate chair because you're probably soaked if you've been running around with ryu and shiki with the water guns.

-if you ask him enough, he will eventually get in the pool with you and wade around for a little while. likely will stay by the edge and hang out there but he'll swim around with you if you drag him around..

-when all is said and done, it'll definitely be a memory that he'll remember for a while. he might not love getting soaked but he does love your smile so it's a memory worth remembering!!
