Shadow Ranch Park

The Shadow Ranch Park in West Hills CA is located on the original Workman Ranch. It is one of the first ten properties to be designated a Historic-Cultural Monument by the City of Los Angeles. Its name was inspired by the large eucalyptus trees that provided shade for the residents.

In addition to the park's many features, there are also several events held at the park. One such event is the annual West Hills Spring Fest, which was previously known as the Eggstravaganza Health & Safety Fair. This event is one of the community's largest celebrations of the year.

Shadow Ranch Park is dog-friendly and has a basketball court and baseball field. There are also a number of picnic tables and grassy areas. A sand pit and water fountain are also available for use. For those looking for something more active, there are swings and slides. However, those who visit the park in the middle of the day might want to keep their energy level down because the swings and slides can get quite warm.

Shadow Ranch has a rich history and some hauntings. A woman in a Victorian dress has been reported and there have been other reports of strange lights and shadow figures. Additionally, there have been many paranormal investigations taking place at the old ranch house. Some people have even reported a little girl walking around the house at night.

While the park itself is relatively new, the structure of the house was already a historic site when it was built in the late 1860s. It was also the location where the screenplay for the 1939 film 'The Wizard of Oz' was written.

Since then, the property has been owned by several Hollywood celebrities. During the 20th century, it was located in Canoga Park. Eventually, it was moved to West Hills. Today, the land is a city park. As a result, the city is trying to fix up the home with the help of Proposition K funds.

The West Hills Neighborhood Council held a special meeting on June 28. During the meeting, the council approved a resolution supporting the Safe Parking Program. According to the program, the City will identify "safe" parking areas for homeless and provide them with transportation to other supportive services. They will also move oversize vehicles from residential areas.

The Council was also able to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the West Hills Spikes volleyball team by presenting them with a certificate of appreciation. Also, the Council recognized exemplary staff at elementary schools in the West Hills area.

Another event that the Council hosted was a Small Asphalt Repair truck on Aug. 23. In order to increase community participation, the council created a youth seat. The Youth Seat is a member of the Board of Directors and functions as a "seat at the table" for all board meetings.

The council is also working on a project to reform the ZIP code system. In addition, the council is looking for "original art" for traffic control boxes.
