At Mobile Mechanics of Albuquerque, every mobile mechanic we hire is required to have the ASE certification! COST
MobileMechanic Services in Albuquerque NM: Our mobile mechanics charge as low as $40-60 per hour plus parts. Most independent repair shops charge between $70-$90 per hour and most dealerships charge between $80-$125 per hour. If you find a good mobile mechanic repair shop that you can trust to do great work and give you excellent service, then be happy to pay them their rate and invite them or take your cars to them whenever you need them serviced.
Looking for mobile mechanic pricing? Your Albuquerque NM mobile mechanic charges only the base cost of parts, plus our flat rate $30-60 per hour labor fee.
There are several main factors that determine labor rates. Dealerships are generally more expensive than independent repair shops. One of the main reasons is because consumers see them as being more qualified to work on their cars. In some cases this might be true, but in some cases it isn't. Dealerships generally have brand specific diagnostic tools that are very expensive and this adds to their labor cost as well.
Another determining factor for labor rates is where the shop is located in Albuquerque NM. Where it is located in the city and which city it is located in both play a role. If it is in the middle of town where building lease rates are high the labor rate will probably be higher. If they are located in a small town they will usually have lower labor rates. Some cities have higher rates than other similarly sized cities.
As far as a reasonable rate, there are also several factors to consider here as well. The main thing to think about is are you getting good service and quality work done on your car? If the answer is yes, then you should be willing to pay a premium for that since it is so hard to find.
Most independent repair shops charge between $80-$90 per hour and most dealerships charge between $80-$125 per hour.
Get Peace Of Mind With Our Easy To Understand, Transparent Quotes.
Mobile Mechanic Services in Albuquerque NM: Getting an instant price is just a few clicks away. Simply provide your car make and model, desired service, your location and we’ll provide you with a fair, transparent quote before you schedule your service.
Our easy to understand quotes show the detailed cost of labor, parts, and taxes (if any). You'll know exactly what's included in your service so there are no surprises.
You're always in control. If your mechanic discovers that your car doesn't need all the services you requested, we'll remove those services and lower your bill, right on the spot. If your car needs additional repair services, your mechanic will provide you with an itemized list of what you need. You can always decide to add or decline any additional services.
Low Overhead Means Savings For You.
Our mechanics are mobile. Not only do we have significantly lower overhead costs compared to the local shops, but as a national brand, we are able to negotiate better prices from the auto parts vendors. We pass these savings to you! The bigger the job, the more you save.

It’s Prep O’Clock
Saturday, September 18, 2021
Planning for our long-awaited trip has reached a fever pitch. All the projects, rearrangements, new gear, shopping, packing, and fine tuning is finally under way. Whoopee!
The Grand Plan™ is to leave for Glenn and Jeanne's in Lafayette, CO on Monday. From there, we will head with them to Mule Canyon, UT and explore the wilderness there for several days with Native American ruins, petroglyphs, and more. Then we rejoin civilization at the Albuquerque (NM) International Balloon Festival for a few days to watch more than 500 hot air balloons festoon the sky. Rumors abound that after that we will head off to Antelope Slot Canyon, UT, which the Jeannes have heard of, but the Tims have not. Finally we will say goodbye to Glenn and Jeanne, and join friends Frank and Kelly for a four-wheel-drive meetup in Arkansas called Rendezvous in the Ozarks.
Today’s projects range from the domestic, like restocking (paper towels, shampoo, spices, and don't mix them up), to the more ambitious.
Tim had learned from the Storyteller Overland (our brand of motor home) Facebook group that many of the electrical systems can be powered directly via the battery, rather than from the DC-to-AC inverter. Leaving the inverter on drains the battery in two days. Leaving it off has promise, but we need to charge phones and run our CPAP machines overnight. Jeanne to the rescue: she found a quality portable inverter that will draw much less current than the one in the rig's electrical cabinet. We mounted it on the wall where it can draw DC power directly, and power our appliances at night. Stay tuned to this channel to find out how we make out with it.
On a past trip, our port-a-potty got dropped and cracked. Repairs slowed but did not stop the leak. We bought a replacement, somewhat larger, which required some shimming of the cabinet where the port-a-potty resides. And of course, our crack QA department subjected it to a rigorous test. It worked.
Also on our last trip, our brand new roof top carry bag let in a bunch of water, we believe through the zippers. We unloaded it, dried things out, reconfigured it to be 90 degrees from how it was before, and reloaded it.
Finally, Jeanne took a pass through all the cabinets and pruned everything we didn't need. A dozen extra wash rags? Put them in the house. Two jars of mustard powder? Combine them. Travel books for Maine? Put them away for next year. We don’t need 4 dishcloths. Where is Tim’s backpack? Right, Mike borrowed it. That plastic bin that we don’t need for the fridge will be perfect for holding toilet paper. Refill the dishwashing soap. Have you got any more quarters for laundry?
Now all we need are clothes and food. That’s a well-polished list. We will be able to leave tomorrow.

New Mexico Just off the Turquoise Trail
The first two days of this trip were troublesome, nearly problematic… sorta. We got an early (early!) start, leaving home at 4:45. Traffic wasn’t bad, not even the trucks. Of the 8 construction zones that Google maps identified, which turned into 11-12, none of them slowed us down much. No merging problems, and never below about 60mph. So we arrived at our reserved hotel at about lunch time – much earlier than we usually stop driving. (Exaggeration maybe, and gaining an hour at the New Mexico border did affect our timing. Plus, we had reserved a hotel, due to so many travelers escaping lockdown). But we used the free afternoon to drive a scenic road that was actually more cool than scenic with the find of some awesome old churches. And the location of where Coronado stopped over for 4 days to build a bridge across the Pecos River. We tried to find Pecos Bill. Maybe next time.
The troublesome, nearly problematic parts were in the area of our energy. After the activities of the 2nd day, we were toast. Debbie was so weary as to be sick from it. The hotel bed was heavenly, tho, so good rest was had.
The morning drive out of our stop (Santa Rosa) was horrific with the truckers. The rudest in the world apparently drive I-40 going west from Santa Rosa and we interacted with many of them. Speaking of Santa Rosa, the California city that was burned up in 2020, is where Wayne moved from in 1979 to return to the land of ancestry (on his dad’s side), Arkansas. Working in the Post Office in Santa Rosa, CA, he saw a ton of misdirected letters that should have gone to New Mexico. Conversely, a lot of Santa Rosa, CA mail that was supposed to go to another address in Santa Rosa, CA, took a side trip to Santa Rosa, NM first.
Our next hotel in Albuquerque, the city of Debbie’s birth (thanks to the United States Air Force) was touted as a ‘full-service’ facility, which means no free breakfast. Don’t know about you, but for 150 million bucks, we want free waffles! (and yogurt) And we ain’t payin’ no $25 for a hotel breakfast where you can’t even order what you want (free waffles!) Also, now, mind you that this is during the Covid19 Delta-variant-surging-wave, one of the two elevators in a 6-floor hotel is closed. Once while we were on the only operative one, descending from the 5th floor, it stopped at the 3rd where 2 employees and a customer charged in to join us. NO! We scored a strike bowling them down as we clamored over them to get out. WHAT’S A’MATTER WITH PEOPLE? (Besides bein’ knocked out.)
We got to our house sit and guess what? The promised hot tub doesn’t work, the homeowner had compromised the wiring while tryin’ to electrificate a tree that grows through the deck. After immediately kicking their two dogs (NO, we didn’t), the homeowners pledged that the promised hot tub would be repaired before our house sit was to start. Afraid for their pets’ lives, they did, it was, and a hot tub at 7000’ is sublime. All is well in New Mexico. And even better yet, the owners invited us back before we even unpacked. Now we feel bad for our earlier disappointment.
Speaking of hot tubs, this trip afforded us the best in terms of stars, satellites, and shooting (falling?) stars. They were awesome.
New Mexico, which should change its name to Carson State, or Navajo State, seems to have a distinct lack of historic, or cultural, heroes. Coronado, the famed Spanish explorer abused the native Indians (Pueblo, Navajo, Zuni, Apache, Comanche, Ute, Kiowa), and probably more, to the degree that they revolted in 1680. There was blood, followed by bad blood. Coronado was solely interested in exploiting both the people, and their wealth, had he ever found the lost cities of gold. Coronado aside, there were famous trappers and hunters, but none who benefitted the development of the state, or any people groups within. Kit Carson seems to be the singular stand out as far as heroic figures go. (There may be a bunch of indigenous folks, or folks of Spanish ancestry worthy of the acclaim, I don’t know.) Starved for notoriety of some sort (even bad press is better than no press), modern New Mexicans (Carsonians) point to Billy the Kid – almost to the degree of the George Washington slept here hype. While eastern states laud actual heroes: Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, John Paul Jones, Paul Revere, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, General Anthony Wayne (hah!), Ashley McBride (ha-ha!), and the like, New Mexicans extol a murdering punk, a villain. Oh well, even bad publicity …
Despite the obvious lack of historical heroes, New Mexico does not lack for historical enchantment. The sights are spectacular, especially the mountains and even the smaller rock formations. The people are friendly (excepting the murderous Billy). The food is great. Wayne prefers the red chili peppers while Debbie, the green. Wayne likes to actually see the mold in his food.
After a short two-mile hike with a thousand-foot elevation gain, it was time for Sparkly, our glittery black Ford Edge, to finally get his way, a trip up a bona fide Jeep/ATV road/trail. It used to be a road. In fact, we drove it with ease two years ago. A local told us that the monsoons they’ve had washed it away. Sparkly wanted to go fast, so Wayne let him have his head, doubling the recommended 2mph. Sparkly was sometimes difficult to restrain.
The adventure was worth it, offering a Stephen King Misery experience. A mountain lion crossed the ‘road’ just ahead of us. Wayne stopped and got out of the car to check out where it had headed. (maybe not the most clever of options) Low and behold, (BTW, we loathe and despise cliches, but sometimes it’s better than a sharp stick in the eye) A hundred or so feet down the nearly 90 degree drop-off was a vehicle smashed into a tree. Though there were no obvious signs of a recent departure from the ‘road’, it could have fairly flown over the nearby brush. Or it could have gone over when there was snow cover. Or … anyway, going down to check whether there was a corpse in the vehicle while theoretically possible, didn’t seem very well-advised considering that there might very well be a mountain lion finishing up what might be left and much preferring the live meat presenting himself on a veritable platter – Wayne.
Surprisingly, there was cell service in this remote mountainous area. From a Sandia Mountain trail map handout, we got through to someone who transferred the call to the proper authority. While they appreciated our call, they’d been aware of the vehicle and that it had been there for some time. But how weird, that the mountain lion crossed exactly where we could see the crashed vehicle. What if it wasn’t the same crash that the authority thought they knew about? What if the driver was just then coming to, only to see a mountain lion eating his face? (Limiting Wayne’s Stephen King intake.)
Another mile down the ‘road’ we saw a mountain lion kitten, though it was barely a kitten, nearly as large as its mother, and almost devoid of kitten colorations and markings. We watched it in awe for some time before thinking to take a photo. You just have to believe us (or not) that the blond blur in the below picture is the kitten.
Another quarter mile brought us to our promised hike, a trail to what was described as a Cave Man Cave. Unless we’d unknowingly driven across the Atlantic, it is doubtful that cave men had ever seen New Mexico, let alone inhabited this cave. More than likely the occupants, for which sufficient evidence supported the probability, were ancient indigenous people, no doubt using the cave to hide from mountain lions at night. The cave was cool, but there are better in Arkansas.
A serendipitous hike in the Sandia Mountains showed us a plethora of wildflowers; most were varieties this Arkansas couple do not normally see. But the star of the show was a large mule deer buck who calmly sauntered in the trail behind us when we stopped for a rest (hiking at high altitude is hard, y’all!).
A retracing of a trip up the Turquoise Trail from 2 years ago put us re-hiking a trail in Cerrillos State Park, just south of Santa Fe. Several old mineral mines dot this trail and their history is revealed in very good signage. Passing through Madrid (unlike the one in Spain, this one is pronounced MAA’-drid), we were stopped for several minutes on Hwy 14 due to a ‘special event’ which we could not see. When allowed to pass through the artsy, cutesy town, we saw evidence of a movie being filmed. After exploring Cerrillos, we returned to Madrid for ice cream and got to watch some of the preparations for more filming. We did not get to see the part where the clipboard snaps and someone yells, “ACTION!” but it was enough. This same town was used for some of the scenes in the motorcycle film Wild Hogs and one building still boasts the ‘Diner’ sign that was added only for the film. Sign on the door says they do not serve food there. One can understand the confusion for tourists. We found out the movie being filmed during our trip is titled Robots and is a futuristic comedy starring Shailene Woodley and written by one of the writers on Borat. Cool beans. We ran into the film company yet again a day or two later, this time in a couple of sites in the Sandia Mountains. Whether the finished movie turns out to be good or meh, we’ll be watching it to catch glimpses of the gorgeous New Mexico countryside. New Mexico and Colorado have several movie ranches sprinkled in the very scenic areas.
15 months, or so, ago we were house-sitting in Durango when paper Closed for Covid signs went up on doors in business-after-business. Here’s one for the whole town.
While touristing Old Town Albuquerque we suddened upon a shop managed by a very personable guy who gave us a cup of Arabica/piñon coffee. When we house-sat in Sante Fe last year we talked to a State Park Ranger dude who told us all bout people picking piñon nuts. Having marvelously (Debbie word) passed the aroma tests, we bought a box of K-cups of this unique, pinon flavored brew. The personable guy turned out to be the artist, David Behrens (DavidBehrensGallery.com and Facebook.com/DavidBehrensGallery).
This trip ranks among the best, or at the top of the list: obedient and FUN pets, very clean and comfortable home, fantastic hiking and scenery (despite the photo-compromising smoke), and very gracious hosts who offered us their entire refrigerator! Regarding the smoke, we shouldn’t be too self-centered considering it may be what’s left of someone’s home passing overhead.
Here are more pix from the trip. Enjoy!

Step 1 in removing a wall is to determine if it's load-bearing. A good rule of thumb is that if the wall is toward the middle of the house and running perpendicular to the joists above, it's carrying weight—and lots of it.
Load-bearing walls rate a solid 5 on the Cuss-O-Meter because of the extra effort involved. Posts and headers (there are several variations that are beyond the scope of this article) must be installed to replace the wall. This isn't super advanced carpentry, but there are lots of details and heavy lifting that have to be approached properly or you're basically guaranteed problems.
When I remove load-bearing walls, I frame temporary support walls on either side of the wall I'm removing, adding a diagonal strut to beef them up. The "temp walls" carry the load while I remove the original wall and replace it with king studs, jack studs and a properly sized header.
I recommend pulling a permit for this project. First, you're supposed to, and second, when you submit the drawings detailing your framing, the inspector has a chance to double-check you. It may turn out that the floor system below may need more beef or blocking, or the header may need to be engineered lumber instead of solid sawn to achieve your desired span, or you may need more king studs than you'd planned on.
Prepare for Takedown – Wall Removal
Non-load-bearing walls' main function is to house mechanicals and serve as a substrate for hanging drywall that divides the rooms. If you want that division outta there, the key is to pick them apart smart. Cover the floor below the wall to be demoed (both sides) with a big piece of cardboard or 1/4-inch plywood to protect the finish. Drop-cloth the rest of the room if you're worried about dust.
Determine if you have to deal with electrical lines, plumbing or HVAC. Opening up a wall you've planned to move only to find a big honkin' HVAC chase in there will ruin your day.
Wall Takedown
The goal isn't wholesale devastation. It's to leave a substrate that's as easy as possible to build from. Here's a page from my demo playbook:
Drywall/plaster. Remove drywall or plaster to expose the studs. If only part of the wall is coming out, say for a door, cut the left- and right-side plumb lines. Punch a hole in the center of the wall and then wiggle the drywall back and forth; it's more likely to come off in large pieces than in small chunks. If you're saving the ceiling, score it where it meets the wall using a utility knife; cutting the tape minimizes damage as you separate the pieces.
Plaster comes off in what a guy I knew called "kibbles and bits." Huge clouds of fine dust happen here, too. I haul plaster in 6-mil contractor trash bags. It doesn't take much plaster in a bag to make it very heavy.
Studs. When possible, use a reciprocating saw with a demolition blade to cut nails between the bottom plate and the stud bottom. This frees the stud, which you can pry free from the nails above. If you don't have room to wrangle an 8-foot stud, cut the stud in the middle and then pry out each half.
Plates. Remove the top and bottom plates. Use a recip saw with a demo blade. Usually, you can break the seal between the wood and the nail by prying. Sometimes it's necessary to cut the nails. Tips
Here are some general pointers to help make the job easier—and safer.
When moving materials through the house, be very careful.
Double-bagging plaster isn't a bad idea.
Watch out for nails, both sticking out of plaster lath and stuck in studs and plates.
A dust mask is a nice barrier between demo dust and your respiratory system. A long-sleeve shirt and pants are also nice for your skin.
If you find wire lath under your plaster, be extra-careful. This stuff makes a scalpel look like a Twinkie.

Water is the giver of life, but it can also be one of your greatest enemies. Water leakage can lead to the growth of mold, which can cause much damage to your home or office premises. When mold becomes the breeding ground for irritants and allergens, it can also have long lasting effects on the health of everyone who happens to inhale the microscopic mold spores. A simple plumbing leak can wreak havoc on your premises in a matter of days, as standing water presents a great environment for mold fungi to thrive. Although a small amount of mold will not hurt most people, mold can multiply rapidly if left unchecked and can cause respiratory problems, allergic reactions and even nervous system breakdowns. Don’t underestimate the health hazards caused by mold. Allow ABQ Janitorial Servicesto expertly attend to your mold problem right away.
MOLD AND MOISTURE
Mold thrives particularly well in humid environments, which is why Singaporean business owners have to be particularly vigilant of the risks and how to prevent it. The key to preventing mold is to watch out for plumbing leaks, which causes standing water – even the smallest leak can have devastating effects over time. Mold thrives on water so you must remove any excess and unwanted water. Additionally, you should attempt to keep the humidity factor at 45 or below to prevent mold from growing. When you notice the tell-tale musty odor of mold around the site of a plumbing leak, it is important to call in the plumber to repair the water leakage promptly, otherwise all your attempts to get rid of the mold will be in vain. Mold grows rapidly and becomes increasingly more difficult to remove if left unattended. It can travel via the air and tends to stick to all kinds of surfaces, including the ducts and vents of your air conditioning unit. Mold is ever-present and must be addressed as swiftly as possible.
ACTION STEPS TO REMOVE MOLD
1. If you believe that your building has been infected with mold for a long time, you might need to consult a healthcare professional to assess your employees. Mold can have devastating effects on people’s health. You will also require expert mold cleaning services to thoroughly inspect the building and take the necessary steps to remove mold and ensure that the premises are safe for use.
2. Contaminated water can also cause mold to grow more rapidly. Call a plumber to test your potable water supply and to install a water filtration system. 3. Do not operate your air conditioning system if you suspect that it may be moldy. The last thing you want is mold spores spreading virally throughout your offices via the air conditioning system! 4. Call in the mold cleaning experts. Our mold-busters at ABQ Janitorial Services will assess the property to ascertain which areas have been affected by mold. They will use state-of-the-art equipment to identify, contain and isolate mold growth, especially since it is often invisible to the naked eye. Our mold cleaning team will then take the steps necessary for preventing further damage and spreading of the mold. The cleaners can even capture and contain mold that floats around in the air. This is especially significant, as it prevents the onset and spreading of allergens which are harmful to humans. All surfaces – furniture, floors, air conditioners and the like will be specially cleaned and sanitized so that the mold is permanently removed. When we have concluded our mold cleaning services at your premises, you can rest assured that you and your staff are left with a safe and healthy mold-free environment.

Caulk and Caulking Tools
There are specific caulk types for every job in the bathroom, kitchen and outside the home. Choosing the right type of caulk and application method doesn't have to be confusing though. With the right information, it can be an easy DIY project.
Why Use Caulking Sealant? Caulk is used as a sealant for filling cracks or gaps around windows, doors, plumbing and pipes. When applied properly, it can prevent water, bugs or air from entering your home. To learn how to use caulk, watch our video: How to Use Caulk.
Caulk Types Latex and silicone caulk are the most common types. The two materials are sometimes combined and sold as siliconized latex or latex plus silicone. These products offer the easy use of latex with the added durability of silicone.
Caulk comes in two forms: a cartridge or a squeeze tube. Using a larger cartridge (usually 9 to 11 ounces) with a caulk gun will result in a continuous bead of caulk. For smaller projects, a smaller squeeze tube (usually 3 to 6 ounces) may be a more convenient choice.
In addition to cartridges and tubes, you can also buy caulk strips. These rolls come with adhesive backing and a fast, no-mess application. With no tools required, these mildew-resistant strips are perfect for sealing bathtubs, showers and wall trim, and can even be applied over existing caulk as a finishing touch.
Latex Caulk ● Easier to apply and replace ● Can be painted ● Easy to clean with soap and water ● Minimal odor ● Weakens in extreme temperatures or sunlight ● Works on porous and nonporous surfaces ● Best suited for constant gaps ● Also called painters caulk or latex/acrylic caulk
Silicone Caulk ● More difficult to apply or replace ● Only some can be painted (check the label) ● Requires mineral spirits for cleanup ● Stronger odor than latex ● More flexible and holds up to extreme temperatures and sunlight ● Lasts longer ● Works on nonporous surfaces ● Works for gaps that expand, contract or stay constant
Specialty Caulks For certain projects, you may need a specialty caulk designed for a particular task. You'll always get the best results when you use caulk that's designed for your project's specific conditions. Here are some of the main types of specialty caulks and their key features.
Adhesive Caulk ● Attaches two pieces together and fills gaps ● Prevents cracking as surfaces expand and contract
Blacktop and Asphalt Caulk ● Fills cracks in parking lots, driveways and other asphalt surfaces ● Forms a strong waterproof seal ● Resists stains from gas, oil and de-icing salts
Concrete Caulk ● Fills gaps in driveways and sidewalks ● Can be exposed to water shortly after application ● Withstands extreme temperatures
Exterior Caulk ● Used in outdoor trim work ● New window installation ● UV-resistant
Fire-Retardant Caulk ● Seals separations around wires, pipes, HVAC ducts and vents ● Used for chimney/fireplace or other framing gaps ● Made of special material rated for its ability to block fire ● Noncombustible ● Withstands high temperatures
Gutter and Flashing Caulk ● Used around roof vents, gutters, flashing, downspouts and other metal joints ● Withstands extreme temperatures ● Durable and flexible
Kitchen and Bath Caulk ● Tile/countertop installation ● Tile/shower/tub maintenance ● Sink/faucet installation ● Mildew-resistant ● Can be exposed to water shortly after application
Mortar Caulk ● Seals leaks and cracks on stucco, mortar, stone, concrete and brick ● Withstands high temperatures ● Blends in with textured surfaces
Molding and Trim Caulk ● Fills gaps between walls and boards ● Crown molding installation ● Quick dry time ● Paintable
Roof Caulk ● Stops minor roof leaks ● Flexible, waterproof and mildew-resistant
Sanded Caulk ● Fills gaps on large joints (1/8 inch or bigger) ● Butt up to and match preexisting tile/sanded grout ● Appears rough and grainy ● Adheres well in wet areas
Window and Door Caulk (Interior) ● Window caulking and door maintenance ● Won't shrink or crack
Unsanded Caulk ● Fills very tight joints ● Joins tile and counters ● Smooth finish
Other Caulk and Accessories Caulk Singles
These small tubes are good for easy touch-ups around the house such as sealing shower tile or the kitchen sink.
Caulk Cord It comes in rolls and is used most often for weather-stripping windows and doors. Applied properly, it usually lasts one to two years.
Finishing Tool Finishing tools help you make a uniform bead, though some people prefer to just use a wet finger. You can practice on a piece of cardboard or a tucked-away area before tackling visible projects.
Caulk Gun A caulk gun is necessary for large caulk cartridges. Some models may come with a convenient nozzle cutter or a swing-out wire puncture tool for caulk tube seals. Choose a caulk gun that'll accommodate the type of caulk tube you'll use. Shop Caulk Accessories
Coloring Because latex and some silicone caulk will take paint, you can use white caulk and paint it to match any place you're using it. When using silicone caulk that can't be painted, choose the color that most closely matches the surrounding area, or select a clear caulk for an unobtrusive look.

COST
How Much Does Caulking Windows Cost?
Caulking Service near Albuquerque, NM: Caulking windows are important in order to prevent the outside air from entering the house. This caulk will fill the exterior wall of the windows or cracks that serve as a block from the outside environment. If you feel any air coming through your windows, caulking your windows can be the best bang for your buck since it can drastically lower your utility bills. Many contractors or companies can do this and will more than likely charge per window. The cost will depend on the window size, the number of windows and the contractor performing the job.
How much does caulking windows cost?
On average, most contractors are going to charge about $1.25 to $3 per lineal foot. One story homes will be about $1.50 to $2 per lineal foot, while two-story homes can be double this amount. If you do it on your own, then you will only have to buy window caulk, and this can cost anywhere from $5 to $20, depending on its type and brand. Plan on using one-half of a cartridge of caulk for a double-hung window. By doing it yourself, you can save about 50-60%. According to DIYorNot.com, they claim that it can range anywhere from $50 to do it yourself to as much as $150 for a professional to come in and complete the job.
Caulking windows overview
Caulking windows, in general, is an extremely easy job; however, it can be very time consuming and is the reason the job costs can be higher. Before the job begins, a contractor will scrape away all of the old caulk around the window by using a special window scraper or utility knife. At this time, they should inspect the areas for any seal leaks around the home. Once removed, the surface will be cleaned and a new layer will be applied using caulk inside a caulking gun. For doors or operable windows, weather-stripping will be used instead. The two most common types of caulk on the market is latex and silicone. Latex caulk is easier to put on and can be painted, while silicone is more durable and is able to withstand extreme temperatures. Caulking compounds can come in aerosol cans, squeeze tubes or ropes for home-based jobs.
What are the extra costs?
Doing the job yourself will require a caulk gun, which should cost no more than a few dollars.
If you’re going to do the job yourself and you have a two-story home, an outdoor ladder will be required to reach the higher floors. A good ladder can cost anywhere from $150 to $250.
Some homeowners hire a professional window cleaner before applying the caulk, especially if permanent dirt spots are noticed.
Tips to know
A silicone caulk is recommended because it’s flexible, water resistant and it can last a lot longer than other types. If you want to paint over the caulk, always make sure you purchase one that can be repaint able.
The best time to have windows caulked is during the fall when the caulk is able to adhere to the window the best. If the temperatures are too cold, the caulk may not adhere the way you want it to. Low humidity is also important because this can help prevent cracks and swelling while being applied.

Happy 2021!
Happy New Year! I doubt there’s a single person who won’t remember 2020 for good or for bad AND I’m pretty sure everyone is hoping that 2021 is more “normal.” Hope it what keeps us going.
We had a fun Christmas. Steve got home early Christmas Eve and we packed up and went to my brother’s house. Christmas day after we ate some great food, we watched the new Wonder Woman movie and played games. Steve was off until Monday morning, so we spent the rest of the weekend doing chores. Steve spent some of his time cleaning his truck cab real well and organizing things.
Sunday night, Aspen started acting lethargic and was almost constant tremors that made him unsteady. He couldn’t lift his head when he walked and so he’d run into things. We decided we’d better take him to a vet clinic so at 8 p.m., off we went. Due to COVID, they came to the car, took Aspen and said they’d call in 4-5 hours (yep, that would make it around 12:30). Around midnight, I got a text saying he had 3 pets ahead of him. At 3:30 a.m., the vet finally called saying she’d examined him and wanted to know what we wanted her to do. We had her do a urinalysis, but it didn’t show any issues. So, Steve left for work around 4 a.m. and I went to pick Aspen up. Monday he was so pitiful. I was sure this was it, but by Tuesday, he started acting more normal. I’m happy to report, that he is back to his old dog self today. I’m not sure what happened but I’m glad he’s doing ok. He has to live another 1½ years until Steve gets done driving!
Speaking of Steve, his job is so messed up at times. As I mentioned before, he left Monday and headed to Las Vegas. That went fine. Then they sent him to Yuma where he ended up with a flat tire on his trailer and had to take it to get repaired. They wanted him to go to Georgia and he was going to accept it but at the last minute, he chose not to. (He’s regretted that decision since then.) He went to Albuquerque instead and after dropping his load off, he called for his next trip and they didn’t have anything for him until Saturday at 2 p.m. He celebrated New Year’s Eve in a truck stop parking lot and then spent all day Friday and half of the day Saturday there as well. I felt sorry for him because he was so bored. Thankfully he picked up his load and is headed back to Phoenix now. I figure he’ll take 2 days off and then go back out again. This job is definitely not what I thought it would be.
Speaking of that, I found out that I am expected to work 30 hours a week for the next 3 months. The workamping coordinator had sent out a text a week or so ago saying that singles had to work 30 hours January-April. Problem is, she told me in our interview that I would work 25 hours (1 more hour/day). So, when our schedule came out yesterday, she had me working 9-3, Monday-Friday. I wasn’t really surprised but I am a bit miffed. She tried telling me that she’d told me in the interview that she wasn’t sure of the hours until corporate decided but she never told me that. I have notes that state nothing of the kind and even a few emails, but it doesn’t really matter. It’s not like she can give me a raise. From what I’ve heard, people say she quickly skimmed over that info in their interviews or didn’t mention it at all. I’m sure she knows it’s hard to find people willing to pick up more hours due to the rent increase which is almost 2x as much as it was for October-December. I know of at least 2 couples who left because they weren’t happy about this change. I knew that when I’d done the math months ago, that the numbers didn’t come out right. 25 hours didn’t pay the bills, but I thought maybe there was something I didn’t know…I hoped that there was! I told her that’s not what I was told, and she said I could work 25 if I wanted but I would have to pay out of pocket for anything my salary didn’t cover. She also said that we could divide the hours up differently. I’m sure she’s worried I’ll quit. I won’t, but I’m not working 30 hours. I’m not sure what I’m going to propose yet. Maybe 2 6-hour days and 3 5-hour days. I plan to work 9-3 on Monday and then talk to Amanda about it when she comes in. That’s the joy of workamping!
New Year’s Eve at the park ended up being a lot of work. We weren’t having much luck getting people to pay to attend the party that had been planned. I spent a day and ½ trying to call people to find out why they weren’t coming and trying to see if they’d change their minds. Then Monday, when I got to work, I was told that the party was now free of charge and we were taking the first 150 who emailed saying they wanted to go. I spent all of this week, calling people, playing musical chairs with the seating chart and helping get things ready. You gotta love last minute changes! Maybe that’s why the park manager treated the office staff to Olive Garden on Thursday for lunch. I didn’t have to work the partyso, after I got off work Thursday, I drove to Brian and Sue’s to “party” with them. We had a nacho bar (yum), watched a movie and played games (Nerts and Sorry). We were going to play Life but didn’t feel like reading the instructions (no one remembered how to play.) I left around 10 p.m., but actually stayed up until midnight which I haven’t done for years. Then Friday, I went to an outlet mall (gorgeous day to be outside) and a regular mall and spent my Christmas money. It’s been a good weekend. (Just wish Steve hadn’t been stuck in NM most of it.)

Locksmith Service And Car Unlocking Service near Albuquerque NM: Car Locksmith services are one thing that everyone hopes they never need, but probably will at one point or another. Whether you lock yourself out of your home, lose your keys, lock your keys in your car, or just want to install some new locks on your front door, a reputable locksmith can help.
The average cost of a locksmith service that includes changing a lock, rekeying the door, repairing the molding and a new deadbolt ranges between $380 - $500.
There are many locksmiths and locksmith services available in most areas. It’s important, however, that you follow certain guidelines, such as those put out by the Federal Trade Commission, to ensure that you find a quality locksmith who won’t take advantage of your situation:
● Look for a local company, and make sure that their address matches what’s listed online. ● Do a quick internet search with the name of the locksmith and words like complaint or review to find out more about them. ● Ask for an estimate of the cost, and confirm that it covers all services you will require. Request that they bring this estimate with them in writing when they arrive. ● Make sure that the locksmith has insurance in case they damage your property while working.
Car and House Locksmiths Locksmith Service And Car Unlocking Service near Albuquerque NM: The majority of locksmiths will offer services for both homes and vehicles. The cost of the locksmith service will depend greatly upon what type of lock you’re trying to open, as well as the property itself; commercial properties are priced differently than residential, as are cars. If your car was made after 2005, you may want to check with the locksmith you call to find out if they have keyless entry services; most cars built after this year can be opened by typing in a code from the VIN number into a lock smiting device.
Services There are many factors that can affect the cost of your locksmith services. If this is an emergency situation, many locksmiths will charge a flat emergency or call fee of around $30 just to come to your home. Making an appointment ahead of time for things like lock changes may help you avoid this kind of fee.
The type of property you are trying to open, as well as the type of lock, and the type of service you are having done will all impact the final cost of the visit. Most locksmiths offer a wide range of services, including:
Service Average Cost
Labor $50/hour plus service call fees Lockout $30 to $60 Key duplication $4 to $74 depending on the type of key Rekeying a Cylinder $5 to $20 Car locks $50 to $120 Keys by code $10 to $70 Fitting a new key $35 Padlocks $13 to $18 Repair door frame $125 - $300
Types of Locks
Locksmiths will also sell and install locks on your property in addition to helping you enter your home or vehicle if you’ve been locked out. Charges for this usually include labor costs of $50 per hour, along with the cost of the lock itself, and possibly rekeying or producing additional keys. There are many types of locks that you may want to consider for your home, including:
Cost to Unlock a Car
Car lockout service costs $75 to $150, depending on how far they had to travel. Expect to pay double for after-hours services. For new cars, leases and many insurance companies, you’re probably covered by roadside assistance and won’t have to pay a cent.
Cost to Rekey a Car Door
Rekeying a car door runs $30 to $50 per door. If you need the locksmith to come to you, expect to pay an additional $50 to $100 trip fee. You’ll also need new set up keys that can easily double the price.
Replace Car Door Lock
In most cases, repairing or replacing a standard door lock runs $50 to $200. But if you need to replace the keypad, you might spend an additional $200 to $400.
Rekey a Car Ignition
Rekeying an ignition runs $50 to $150 depending largely on the make of the car. However, many new cars don’t have keyed ignitions, only push-starts. You’ll need to go to your auto mechanic or dealership to have that replaced.
Cost to Make Car Keys
Making a standard car key runs $4 to $10. But if you need a transponder key or one with a chip to keep your car alarm from sounding, you’ll pay anywhere from $75 to $400. In some cases, a locksmith can’t make these keys and you’ll need to order them from the car manufacturer directly.
Programming Key Price
Programming a transponder key runs anywhere from $50 to $200 depending on where you have it done and the make of your car. You might find it cheaper to get a new key from your dealership.

How Does a Diesel Engine Work?
Mobile Diesel Service near Albuquerque NM: In today's world, where fuel prices are increasing as a consequence of spiraling demand and diminishing supply, you need to choose a cost-effective fuel to meet your needs. Thanks to the invention of Rudolph Diesel, the diesel engine has proved to be extremely efficient and cost effective.
Diesel fuel is priced moderately higher than gasoline, but diesel has a higher energy density, i.e. more energy can be extracted from diesel as compared with the same volume of gasoline. Therefore, diesel engines in automobiles provide higher mileage, making it an obvious choice for heavy-duty transportation and equipment. Diesel is heavier and oilier compared with gasoline and has a boiling point higher than that of water. And diesel engines are attracting greater attention due to higher efficiency and cost effectiveness.
The distinction lies in the type of ignition. While gasoline engines operate on spark ignition, diesel engines employ compression - ignition for igniting the fuel. In the latter, air is drawn into the engine and subjected to high compression that heats it up.
This results in a very high temperature in the engine, much higher than the temperature attained in a gasoline engine. At peak temperature and pressure, diesel that is let into the engine ignites on account of the extreme temperature.
In a diesel engine, air and the fuel are infused into the engine at different stages, as opposed to a gas engine where a mixture of air and gas are introduced. Fuel is injected into the diesel engine using an injector whereas in a gasoline engine, a carburetor is used for this purpose. In a gasoline engine, fuel and air are sent into the engine together, and then compressed. The air and fuel mixture limits fuel compression, and hence the overall efficiency.
A diesel engine compresses only air, and the ratio can be much higher. A diesel engine compresses at the ratio of 14:1 up to 25:1, whereas in a gasoline engine the compression ratio is between 8:1 and 12:1. After combustion, combustion by-products are removed from the engine through the exhaust.
For starting during cold months extra heat is provided through 'glow plugs'. Diesel engines can either be two cycle or four cycle and are chosen depending on mode of operation. Air-cooled and liquid-cooled engines are the variants to be chosen appropriately. It is preferable to use a liquid-cooled generator as it is quiet in operation and has evenly controlled temperature.
Advantages of a Diesel Engine Cummins Generator for Indoor Applications
The diesel engine is much more efficient and preferable as compared with gasoline engine due to the following reasons:
● Modern diesel engines have overcome disadvantages of earlier models of higher noise and maintenance costs. They are now quiet and require less maintenance as compared with gas engines of similar size
● They are more rugged and reliable
● There is no sparking as the fuel auto-ignites. The absence of spark-plugs or spark wires lowers maintenance costs
● Fuel cost per Kilowatt produced is thirty to fifty percent lower than that of gas engines
● An 1800 rpm water cooled diesel unit operates for 12,000 to 30,000 hours before any major maintenance is necessary. An 1800 rpm water cooled gas unit usually operates for 6000-10,000 hours before it needs servicing
● Gas units burn hotter than diesel units, and hence they have a significantly shorter life compared with diesel units
Applications & Uses for Diesel Engines
Mobile Diesel Service Near Albuquerque NM: Diesel engines are commonly used as mechanical engines, power generators and in mobile drives. They find wide spread use in locomotives, construction equipment, automobiles, and countless industrial applications. Their realm extends to almost all industries and can be observed on a daily basis if you were to look under the hood of everything you pass by.
Industrial diesel engines and diesel-powered generators have construction, marine, mining, hospitals, forestry, telecommunications, underground, and agricultural applications, just to name a few. Power generation for prime or standby backup power is the major application of today's diesel generators. Check out our article on the various types of engines and generators and their common applications for more examples.
TIPS
Mobile Diesel Service near Albuquerque NM:Truckers run on tight schedules, and losing even a little bit of time on the road can be frustrating and devastating. When mechanical disasters strike, it’s nice to know that there are mechanics who specialize in mobile diesel repairs in Shelby County, TN. Mobile mechanics can help you get your vehicle up and running again more quickly. Here are a few things to consider when looking for a mobile mechanic:
● Have reasonable expectations: Mobile mechanics really are amazing. It’s impressive to watch what they can do out of the shop, in the field, with limited tools. It’s important, however, to understand that some jobs may simply be too big to take care of outside of a professional diesel shop. If you’re experiencing catastrophic engine failure, for instance, you may need to call for a tow truck, rather than a mobile repair expert.
● Ask for referrals: You should begin the search for a mobile mechanic by asking your friends and co-workers if they have any recommendations on places in your area to call. Fellow truckers may have helpful tips about which mobile repair shops can provide you with the best bang for your buck. Additionally, they can instruct as to which repair shops are best avoided.
● Check references: You should also check references and reviews for a mechanic before paying them to perform mobile diesel repairs in Shelby County, TN. This can give you a better sense of the scope of services to expect. Reading online reviews is helpful, but it’s important to remember that they’re not always necessarily reflective of the truth.
● Pay attention to billing: One of the first questions to ask a mobile mechanic when calling them for a service appointment is whether they bill by the hour or by the job. It’s advisable to work with mechanics who bill by the job, rather than by the hour. When being billed by the job, mechanics are incentivized to work as efficiently as possible, meaning that you’re likely to spend less and get back on the road more promptly.
● Ask about warranties: Many mechanics, including mechanics specializing in mobile diesel repairs in Shelby County, TN, offer service and replacement part warranties. You should ask about the scope and duration of these warranties. Typically, they’ll be included with the cost of service, although some providers may give you the option to pay to extend them.
COST
Mobile Diesel Service near Albuquerque NM: How do you set your Mobile diesel truck repair labor rates? Choosing the right labor rate can make or break your business in the long run. Follow these three principles to land on a rate you and your customers will feel good about:
● What customers do you want to attract?
● Never give something for nothing
● Back into the rate you need
The customers that you want will understand that cheap is expensive. If they go for the cheapest labor rate around, chances are they’ll end up spending more in the end.
Good customers are looking for quality, speed, and low hassle. Price is also in the mix but it’s usually not the main driver. Ultimately these customers want to eliminate unscheduled down time. Going only for the cheapest rate will not get them there, and they understand that. Even if they don’t, it’s an easy case for you to make.
So don’t sell yourself short. Your rate determines your clientele. The reality is that the customers you want will view you as lower quality if your labor rate is too low. Meanwhile, customers who are more cash-strapped, and less able to fulfill their end of credit terms, are attracted to shops with lower rates.
Some people will never pay the quoted price. It’s in their DNA to bargain and get price breaks. Don’t forget that good negotiation is about creating options, not about making ultimatums. So price breaks can make sense as long as they aren’t one-sided. You should never give a price break without some meaningful exchange of value.
Offer up options that will give you value in return. One example is to give a lower labor rate in exchange for the customer allowing you to proactively track their PMs. Ask them to agree to a list of PMs that they will pre-authorize you to do. They are exchanging a lower price for trust in you to do their PMs. Follow this practice when setting your diesel repair shop labor rates.
When customers ask what your labor rate is, this gives you a great opportunity to discuss the possibility of tracking their PMs. We charge $99 / hour, but for customers who allow us to proactively do PMs we charge $94 / hour. They win with a lower price. You win by having a guaranteed and pre-authorized stream of business.
If your labor rate doesn’t give you the profit you need, you will not stay in business long. Add up your total cost of labor and back into your minimum labor rate. Based on our profitability model, you should be earning at least 50% profit on labor. That is after covering the wages and benefits of not only your techs but their managers too (e.g. parts and service managers).
For example, if your technicians earn $20 / hour and as a group bill 200 hours / week, your wages for the week will be $4,000. Add in the weekly cost of your service manager and parts manager at $52,000 each, and you’re up to $6,000. Finally, add in taxes and benefits (let’s assume 20%) and you land at $7,200 a week. That’s a total cost of $36 / hour. To get a 50% profit on labor you would need to charge customers at least $72 / hour.

Both diesel and gasoline are refined from crude oil. (LP gas is also a petroleum processing byproduct.) Diesel, however, packs up to 12 percent more energy per gallon than gasoline. That's one of the reasons that diesel is more economical than gasoline.
Diesel is combusted, or burned, as a result of very high cylinder pressure. As a result, diesel engines are designed to withstand greater pressure and deliver more power per stroke, in contrast to gasoline engines, which use a spark from a spark plug to ignite the air-fuel mixture. Consequently, diesel engines thus have a higher thermal efficiency (i.e. power) than gasoline engines due to their compression ratio, which is another reason that diesel is more economical than gasoline.
Because diesel fuel is commonly used in hard-working equipment on farms and job sites across the country, off-road diesel is available at many locations, which is taxed less than on-road diesel to provide additional significant savings.
Isn't diesel a dirty fuel?
That is a common misperception, as many people recall past decades when diesel fuel and engines were less efficient. Due to recent technological advancements, many of the harmful particulates (such as sulfates and silicates) in diesel fuel have been nearly eliminated, making diesel fuel cleaner than ever.
Compared with diesel, doesn't LP gas reduce emissions and reduce
Our dependence on foreign oil?
LP gas is a petroleum processing derivative, and, like gas and diesel, it is also dependent on oil. However, carbon monoxide emissions from LP gas are "sky high" compared to diesel, and LP gas emits higher levels of other harmful emissions as well. With all factors considered, diesel is the cleaner choice.
Aren't diesel mowers more expensive?
When viewed as a two- or three-year investment, Grasshopper diesel models are actually a bargain due to the savings earned by less fuel use, fewer stops to refill, faster job completion times and more billable hours for the commercial operator. To offset the initial purchase price of diesel models, many customers take advantage of Grasshopper's low-interest rate finance or lease options that use lender funds at little or no cost during the time savings are realized by diesel's fuel economies.
Can I really save fuel by using diesel?
Absolutely. Because diesel engines have better power and fuel efficiency than gasoline, LP or CNG engines, you will use less fuel over the same time period compared to other fuel options.

Whole House Clean Out Services
Selling, moving out of, or simply decluttering a whole house can be a messy process in Albuquerque. Carter Lake Whole house clean out services cover the removal of furniture, clothing that has been left behind, taking out kitchen appliances and dinnerware, a basement clean out and/or attic, plus a garage if needed. These services, depending upon the state of the house, can be provided by anywhere from a pair of workers up to a team of six, seven or eight workers. Servicers break into teams and each of these groups works in unison to clean out sections of the house.
Oftentimes an Carter Lake whole house clean out service begins with the removal of loose items. Servicers do this so that they do not need to worry about stepping upon these items as they move through the house. This also enables the servicers to carry the larger items with greater ease, for they will have been emptied and weigh less. If a clean out servicer determines some piece of furniture or item has value, they may attempt to resell it, which should cut into the pricing of the job.
In order to prepare for a whole house clean out service near Carter Lake, you must determine what will be left behind, and what will be taken. The more precisely and definitely these decisions are made, the more efficient your provider of the whole house clean out service will be. This is not to say that you cannot change your mind about items, on the contrary, most providers will accommodate your shifting feelings (after all, a whole house is bound to have some sentimental articles). If you are looking to sell a house that is full of somebody else`s belongings, then this aspect of the Carter Lake whole house clean out servicing is that much easier.
The knowledge gained from experiencing several whole house clean outs is something which you may not notice, but will most assuredly appreciate.
