i sometimes make the mistake of wasting my time and energy trying to reason with ignorant males™ in dumb comment sections because eventually they might open their eyes, right? No. All i get is those men telling me misogyny barely exists anymore and that the world is in favor of women. That misandry is a bigger problem. Im as respectful as possible but all i get back is this deafening ignorance. "Cat calling is just words" "Nothing is stopping women from doing what they want" "women are loved unconditionally and men arent" theres no helping those people.
previous anon about ignorant men online here i just wanted to share one occasion that deeply scared me. Someone had written a comment about their brother who found an unconscious girl in the bathroom at a party. He left and didnt even tell anyone about her because he was "worried he might be accused" of doing something to her if he even tried to help. The hundreds of men agreeing with his actions sickened me. Replies varied from "im not responsible for some drunk chick" to "they want equality, they get it" as if women also leave potentially hurt men to rot all the time. The hatred those men must have for women they dont even know was overwhelming. They said not trying to help would be "safer" for them as men, they wouldnt risk ruining their life just because some chick got too high or drunk. Treating women like some kind of other species, as if it isnt your duty as a civilian to provide first aid to someone who potentially needs it. It scares me to think some of those men have women in their lives who trust them. Sometimes i dont know how to deal with these things anymore, but i know im not alone. Sorry for ranting, ignore this if you want and be safe <3
Yeah, just don’t bother with men. Best you’ll get is men admitting that maybe misogyny is a problem but not recognising how deeply it affects women or how systematic it is or say that everyone struggled with gender-based bullshit.
The ‘men aren’t love unconditionally’ bullshit always fucking gets me. Men are loved unconditionally! Women stay with men despite them not helping them and instead dragging them down. Women stay with men through ill-health. Women love men basically unconditionally. But men don’t love women. Men love that women labour for them and that’s why they stay. It’s also why they’re much more likely to leave when women get sick -they’ve lost the person who’s laboured for them and so why would they stay married? If anything, it’s men who are loved and empathised with unconditionally while women are loved so long as they can provide the things men want (ie: sex and household labour). But they act like it’s the men who aren’t loved unconditionally because they ‘have’ to financially provide for the family and that’s the condition on their love.
It’s just a misrepresentation much like every issue which MRAs bring up is: argue something with just enough truth behind it that people believe it, while then completely ignoring the shit that women are going through to make it seem like a ‘men’s issue’ rather than either a societal issue or a complete non-issue because they’ve actually twisted the truth. Other good examples are men’s mental health which ignores that male suicide is higher due to the methods used, that women are more likely to have mental health problems, and that mental health is ignored society wide so it’s not just a men’s problem and men getting child custody which is lower because most couples agree to women getting the children out of court because, you know, women spend more time looking after children and men are actually more likely to win a child custody case if they fought for their kids but they don’t.
Men are disgusting when they do shit like this. And also, they’ll do this saying that they’re trying to get out of the possibility of being falsely accused and hence they’re protecting themselves, but then mock the shit out of women who do things to prevent them from getting raped! They’ve convinced themselves that false accusations are everywhere and made by everyone when they’re literally fucking not. No one is going to accuse you of anything because you found a girl passed out and it’s disgusting that he put the possibility that he’ll get falsely accused for trying to help the girl who passed out/telling someone else that he found her over the possibility that someone takes advantage of her state and rapes her. And you’re right: if the roles were reversed, women would go and get help because we actually care about people’s welfare! So it’s not a case of ‘equality’ but rather men justifying why they do shitty-ass things.
Men are awful people with zero empathy for others. They only care about themselves and the issues that they personally face. Don’t even try explaining how shitty the world is for women to them because they’re write it off as individual bullshit and never systematic oppression.

What is your opinion on Disney Star Wars?
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity anon. Brace yourself
The sequel trilogy as a whole is a mess™. The Force Awakens is the best movie in that trilogy, and that one's just a rehash of A New Hope. However, TFA did have potential and set up some interesting concepts (THAT WERE NEVER DELIVERED ON SO FUCK YOU). I remember going to see TFA when it came out and the hype over a new Star Wars movie after a decade was palpable. It was honestly contagious
The Last Jedi was. I don't like it. It was so stupid. Rey is so bland. The humour was straight out of an MCU movie, so obviously it was garbage
The Rise of Skywalker is however the worst Star Wars movie made. I actually wasted money on that. This is just the concise version maybe one day I'll make a post about it but just take this for now
Rogue One imo is actually really good. It is undoubtedly the best Disney Star Wars movie. Solo was honestly alright I surprisingly didn't hate it but for the love of God did Han having his surname Solo have to be that way afsjkls
The Mandalorian started out solid but now it's kind of a dud. Yes s2 has some of the best episodes but s1 as a whole I feel is better and more grounded. S3 was just boring
The Book of Boba Fett: no.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was eh. I liked the last 2 eps
Ahsoka was also eh. Maybe one day I'll talk about it
Andor is wonderful. I loved every second of it I cannot wait to see how s2 leads up to the events of Rogue One
Resistance is okay. It's just kinda forgettable I'd have to rewatch it
The Bad Batch is also fine but the main characters really need more development. That being said, s2 is an improvement over s1 (also Crosshair is the best character. Argue with the wall)
I love Visions. It's not just conceptually great, it's also great in its execution. I have a soft spot for Star Wars media that doesn't center the Skywalker family or the Jedi Order and it's something I want to see more of. I love the different animation styles employed by the different anime studios (seriously, watch the first episode of Volume 2. You'll thank me later) and I just love these stories from all over the galaxy grappling with different aspects of it. It's so amazing to see that explored
Finally, Tales of the Jedi. It was nice but I don't remember much from the first 2 eps (also the last 2 eps. Anything to do with Order 66 kills me)

Hi, I'm the Jonsa anon who was worried about being a hypocrite for liking Darklina/the Darkling — thank you for your response, btw! Sorry if you've been asked this before, but what are your thoughts on Ben's performance as the Darkling? I haven't read the books, but from what I understand, Ben's portrayal seems a lot more nuanced, e.g. infused with a humanity + vulnerability (those teary eyes!) that the book character lacks. I'm such a sucker for that kind of thing and I think it helps that Ben is older (though still very youthful), so the angst really feels... I suppose, more earned in a way? More lived in, like yes, I can sense how you might have reached this point. I've found your criticisms of the book character/writing in general really interesting, because it seems like he was/is a character with such immense potential to be something complex and grey, to maybe question the extent of people's culpability — because yes, he created the Fold, but who/what created him? In a way, the Fold is also Ravka's shame, just as it is his (is that ever addressed in the books?). But from what I've read about the author, she seems kinda confused by his purpose in the story, by what she wants him to be/represent. She probably wants him to be nuanced, to draw readers in, like Alina, but she also wants him to be the (quite reductive) Big Bad™. Do you have any hopes/predictions on how they'll develop him in s2? It would seem such a waste if they didn't use Ben's abilities fully. He's so expressive, I think, and maybe what's so frustrating for antis is that he does make you sympathetic, he does make you believe his cause is just, but the tragedy is he's lost his way, rather that being completely one shade of morality. Maybe you could brush that aside as "manipulation", but I think it shows how compelling a character he is. Because I haven't been manipulated into liking him because he's handsome, charming, and oh! I'm just so naive. I'm compelled because he represents what GRRM actually is all about, that great Faulkner quote: "the human heart in conflict with itself". Darklina's relationship, at least in the show, is that conflict, I think, which is why I find it more thematically and narratively rich than (s1) Malina. As cute and wholesome as they may be, in the show... Malina (currently) kind of bores me by comparison — they're a bit simplistic, but at the same time also not together at the start, because...reasons? Sorry, I rambled on quite a bit! Anyway, I'd love to hear your own ramble :)
Hi there!
Thanks for your ramble, here is mine, lol!
There are some things they have changed from the books and for the most part I think it gave the story more depth - even though in some points it reduced the story.
It is not only how Ben Barnes plays the Darkling it is also that he is depicted more sympathetic : they did the whole side story with the independency movement in West Ravka and their attempt on Alina's life that gives the Darkling a reason to destroy the City of Novokribirsk - in addition to his wish to demonstrate his power. There is also the fact that he makes no move on Alina that it is Alina who reaches out to him so that you really get that his feelings surprise him. There is also a sympathetic villain origin story. Aleksander served the then king of Ravka and it was him who was betrayed and he created the Fold in a moment of despair. So, yes he is definitely more grey on the show and Ben Barnes' performance is helping his case.
There are other things they changed, not all of them well done imho. In general I was very happy how they included the Crows. It felt very organic and that was strong original writing.
They made Mal much more sympathetic. In the books he is a womanizer and Alina pines after him and he doesn't even realize and Alina's crush on Mal is a bit pathetic if you ask me - and I absolutely believed she was supposed to get over it. In the books Mal also has issues with Alina's power - which they should have included in the show of inky to give Alina doubts how Mal sees her with powers.
It makes Malina a much cuter ship than it is in the books. It's a bit boring and we don't really know why they are not together but you can root for them - which they probably intended for the audience to do. Unfortunately it also means that Mal might have zero character development. And it means that Alina made a huge mistake at the beginning when she burned the maps so that she would be with Mal. Her mapmaker unit was destroyed in the Fold and she has zero qualms about that. It's a serious plot hole if you ask me.
Other things are just like in the books: I don't really know how I am supposed to believe that Baghra is good. She is a terrible teacher and for her to turn against her son makes zero sense. That needed more background, but that is also the case in the books. And there is the problem with Alina's goals. What is her goal apart from fighting the Darkling? And why does he need to be fought? Ravka is pretty much the only country in the Grishaverse where Grisha have a respected social standing - even if it's dependent on the king - and the Darkling is the person who ensures that. So, what does Alina want to do about that?
I hope that they will continue to show the Darkling as a complex persona. And I hope that they will give him the opportunity to do something good for the Grisha as his last sacrifice - but hopefully only in the last season so that we'll have plenty of Ben Barnes scenes. I think that would be great: It would show that the Darkling understood that he lost his way and that his methods were dubious and that he would try to make amends. He is a villain, he can't live but give him a satisfying end!
They have shown some initiative to change the books in order to make it more palatable - although I would say that they didn't succeed to improve on the books in all cases. And since Ben Barnes is a fan fav they might continue to give him opportunities to shine. I certainly would hope so. Because the BookDarkling is the Big Bad, the moustache twirling villain and a more complex character (heart in conflict with itself!) is certainly more compelling.
And to me this is what makes Darklina interesting. I picture them as having the same goals and disagreeing about the methods. That would be great. But I doubt they will deviate that far from the books. I fear that the goals of the good persons / heroes will continue to be vague and not necessarily good. I mean Book Alina wants nothing more than a peaceful life... And she gets that but nothing changed for the Grisha!
Thanks!

I was going through your rewrite tag and you mentioned wanting a beheading, so here's an idea: *Lizzie* gets beheaded, but it fails. Perhaps she can have a power where she can take her head off and re-attach it, like Headmistress Bloodgood, but she didn't know she had this power until, well, y'know, she gets beheaded.- Wasted Potential™ Anon

If you were to reboot EAH (I think you mentioned something about rewriting Epic Winter), how would you go about writing it?- Wasted Potential™ Anon
i'm rewriting epic winter and i'm not sure if i'm gonna rewrite the whole series, but i might who knows. first i tried to figure out how i could change the main body of the story while keeping the basic premise (winter). i already knew bunny was going to be my villain, so that helped too. what i came up with was that bunny snaps and fast-forwards time from summer to winter (cause white rabbit = time... yeah) and that they take up the queen of hearts role instead of the white rabbit one. they then leave ever after and it's up to briar, rosabella, daring, dexter, faybelle and the wonderlandians to find them and stop them.
#there are also some cutscenes to ever after bc we are doing nothing if not correcting mattels mistakes and that includes addressing dappling#i am also considering bring dappling along on the trip and leaving dexter behind bc how much more awkward would it be if apple's ex started#-dating her gf's best friend and said ex also happens to be her gf's brother#and bribelle is canon too cause i do what i want#mailbox#villain!bunny#wasted potential™ anon

Another thing that pisses me off about M*lton Gr*mm is the fact that he did like. A TON of terrible things that *would* make him a villain: not only did he curse his brother and yeet him down into the basement of the school, he also manipulated children- CHILDREN!!- just to sign a stupid destiny book. F*ck M*lton Gr*mm, all my homies HATE M*lton Gr*mm.- Wasted Potential™ Anon
if you boil it down to it's bare essentials, he was the villain in thronecoming, they just never went anywhere with it. he was the one person in charge of people signing the book, and since raven didn't want to, he was their main obstacle, making him the antagonist. if there's one thing i absolutely hate about this franchise it's the lack of certainty around who the villains are, especially since the whole first film revolved around how raven didn't want to be one. the only films that have solid villains are wtw (courtly) and epic winter (the snow king) and one of those was done to absolute perfection in my eyes since i absolutely despise the character and the other one was just,,, mneh. then you have spring unsprung and dragon games where the villains are.. the cheshire cat, the evil queen and snow white? what it is it with this series and making people's parents villains, that's not good. but yeah, i could rant about this all day and anon you are so right

Well, you *could* also have Grimm beheaded. Consider, when Bunny snaps and goes all villain/rises to power, people don't really think that they're evil, and that makes Bunny even *more* angrier, and they go "OH?? I'M NOT EVIL? WELL, WOULD SOMEONE WHO ISN'T EVIL DO *THIS*?", and then she promptly gets M*lton into custody and beheads him, and after awhile Lizzie's botched beheading happens. Also, the rewrite tag was called #wannabe's eah rewrite!- Wasted Potential™ Anon
this ask really made me think, and now i think i’m gonna give them a sythe to do all these beheadings with. originally i was gonna have them do them magically but i think it would be better aesthetic-wise to give them a weapon
#they’re still gonna have some magic to do the fast-forwarding with but i like the thought of them with a weapon too#villain!bunny#wannabe’s eah rewrite#mailbox#wasted potential™ anon

Do you have any headcanons/ideas for Alistair in your rewrite?- Wasted Potential™ Anon
there's going to be a lot (and i mean a lot) of bunnistair angst because this isn't just alistair's partner. it's their best friend, who he's stuck by and has stuck by him throughout everything, who was willing to travel through dimensions with him. this is someone who means everything to him and he has to get through to them
they're also the one who suggests they all go after them in the first place, because he knows that this isn't them, they would never do this, they wouldn't, they couldn't, surely.
also alistair/briar brotp for no reason except i think they would work well together

so much platonic darlase. so much. knight buddies.
just realised that i’m gonna have to think of an explanation for vae even being there because for some reason they stayed in wonderland after wtw

Could you possibly share headcanons/ideas for Kitty in your rewrite?- Wasted Potential™ Anon
i'm gonna mostly focus on chase, alistair and lizzie out of the wonderlandians, but i do have a couple
they get super protective over lizzie after the beheading. like super protective. like 'go anywhere near her and you d-e' level protective
but they don't side with lizzie during the argument, she doesn't side with anyone
kitty just gets v worried about her partner and nervous that this isn't gonna work out but puts a smile on because what choice do they have? they're the cheshire cat, after all

Do you have any ideas/headcanons for Lizzie in your rewrite?- Wasted Potential™ Anon
okay so
i mentioned in my bunny one of these about lizzie’s hair, and how when the beheading happens and bunny takes over the qoh role all the red is drained from it. the reason for that is that the red in lizzie's hair represents her destiny, and when bunny takes that away from her, they take the colour too
kitzie is also canon here. this entire rewrite is just one massive middle finger to mattel and how they have had a total of four queer characters in mh and eah combined and haven't addressed a single one
i'm also gonna explore a relationship i haven't before in chase and lizzie. i like the idea of chase serving as sort of an older brother to liz, given that they're both red royals and presumably would've been quite close growing up
lizzie in this is also fucking pissed at bunny. and i mean like she doesn't understand why alistair is so hellbent on trying to reason with them, which causes a lil bit of a rift in the already fractured wonderlandians
but yeah. i'm gonna delve into lizzie's character a lot here

oh yes. OH YES. I am now imagining Lizzie just as she's getting beheaded, begging Bunny not to do this, don't do this, *please*, and Bunny peers down (ha, at last, they aren't the one in *that* position anymore), a slow, malicious smile spreads across their face, one rivaling the Cheshire Cat's, and they swing the blood-stained blade of their scythe. As the blade collides with Lizzie's neck, in a low, distorted voice, they deliver the words: "...Of with her head."- Wasted Potential™ Anon
