‘Assimilation’ Hornets are known to do what is referred to as ‘hawking’ where they rip off a bees head then eat the rest of the bee. With that in mind, my aim was to recreate a split second snapshot of this hornet ‘hawking’, inspired by a recent nature documentary I was watching. Some of you may be familiar with a concept in photography which discusses the photograph representing the death of a moment, a snapshot in time and I do feel that in itself has inspired me to create this still life. I do hope you enjoy 😊 It is now available on the website, last orders to be posted in time for Christmas is midnight Thursday! Friday the 18th will be the last time I go to the post office until the 2nd of January. The shop will remain open over the Christmas period 🖤 Check out my story for the other new items available. #jennascuriocabinet #itwasdeadwhenwemet #curiocollection #lepidoptera #bug #insects #conceptualism #insectsofinstagram #darkart #wasphawkingforprey #beefood #hymenoptera #darkartandcraft #insectsoftheworld #vespidae #gianthornet #natureisbrutal #exoskeleton #wasp #stilllifeart (at Jenna's Curio Cabinet) https://www.instagram.com/p/CI3jJzxpf3-/?igshid=wx84hpp7f7x8
