Honestly imagine if they incorporate 'Dear Friend Across the River' into the score during the low-point of Viktor and Jayce's storyline.
Catch me like this if the violins kick in when Jayce abandons Viktor or vice-versa;

I think the main reason I feel more drawn to songs that are connected to a piece of media like musical songs, soundtracks of games, films, dramas, etc. ya get what I mean, is because of the scenes that accompany them. I’m the type of person who’s picky with what I like, but the moment I show an interest in something, it’s something I find deep, personal, and connected. So the scenes that are accompanied by these songs- I instantly associate them with each other. it makes me feel these intense feelings.
Take a drama that I have recently watched, for example- weak hero class 1. Let me tell you, the OST is absolutely amazing. I feel connected to almost all the songs. One of the songs is called “Again” and it’s an amazing and beautiful song in itself, but after watching the drama- when I listen to it, a scene from the drama plays again in my head. How the music starts playing when a character is hit by the sudden realization of regret after hurting the one that he loved, how the music is the only thing that is heard at the last scene of the episode- where the camera slowly zooms out, leaving us viewers to see the still, almost lifeless body of the character we have grown to love-- and finally, the music is there again when the main character breaks his empty, emotionless and cold demeanor when he lets out a soul-shattering scream, not caring anymore because now, he feels alone and let down by everyone. How he only tried and tried and tried but managed to achieve nothing at the end. The song is playing all through his breakdown.
Or take this song from Arcane’s soundtrack for example- Guns for Hire. The music starts playing instantly when a character raises the flare that lets out this fire/smoke that spreads all throughout the sky, which helps bring her older sister who was separated back to her again. In the middle, the camera circles the character with the flare, and we the viewers could see distant figures of her past appear as hallucinations behind her. This song, of course, is a masterpiece in itself, but when I listen to the song, I am instantly hit by the emotions-- of longing, of trying to mend the bridge that is torn, of meeting  and then losing what I yearn for the most.
I have no idea of what I said here makes sense, but I just wanted to let all these feelings out. In conclusion, this is probably the reason why I just feel more connected to songs that are connected to some other piece of media-- the intense feelings and the weight connected to the scene and the character that is present’s feelings. There are lots more examples that I haven’t provided here, but hopefully it gets my point across :)
