He stops running Jeromes laughing ahead but stops when he looks back to see Jonathan lift his shaking hands up to his face as he falls to his knees. Jerome screaming Jonathan as he runs back Jervis had already made it out but when they other two weren't right behind him he knew something was wrong and goes back. When he does the scene in front of him is all to familiar.

Jerome is pulling jonathans mask off blood oozing out of Jonathans mouth as he takes short wheezy breaths. Jerome just trying to do anything he takes off his purpler overcoat and shoves it onto Jonathans wound. “Youll be fine Johnny i promise see your already looking better. Its just a lil bullet well take ya back and you'll be fine and yell at me about proper  or how i almost killed ya” Ya know stuff like that he isnt going to accept Jonathan is going to die here and now. Harvey and Jim catch up but jim stop them a few feet away at the scene even if they are criminals and mass murders they are still kids in a sense. Jonathan knows hes going to die by the way he's going cold hes not scared though he guesses he never was what he hadn't expected was to being dying looking at Jerome whos crying? Is that hid blood getting smeared across his face mixing in with tears and smudged face paint it must be. Jeromes saying stuff but he cant really focus on it the world is getting blurrier and the edge of his vision is going dark hes not sure if he has but he wants to place a hand on Jerome's arm maybe he should say something. 

He does and Jerome takes the hand and clutches it between his he's pleading for Jonathan to get up so they can go home. Jonathan looks at him and opens his mouth to say something anything but all he manges is a weak “I” before darkness consumes him. His hand goes limp in Jeromes hand and he's gone. Its quiet and still for a few moments Jervis putting his hand on Jerome's shoulder gripping it firmly his other hand covering his mouth as silent tears stream down his face. Harvey taps Jims shoulder signaling for them to leave and turns to do so as Jim takes a step forward an apology on his lips. When Jerome starts to laugh it starts out quiet then into full manic laughter. Jim freezes and Jervis has to take a step back hes never seen Jerome look this deranged before his eyes are wide and empty tears makeup and blood smeared across his wide smile. he stands up slowly as he shimmys the knife up his sleeve into his hand. And slowly turns his head towards Jim “You killed him HAHa hes gone and you took him wHyd you sTeaL MY fRIEND JIMBO ha THats nOT VEry nICe” and well here we can have jervis grab him or batman stepping in before Jerome can slash Jim. Jerome going feral against whoever clawing trying to get to jim no matter what Jonathans gone and unlike him Jonathan cant just come back the city is not that giving. 

Jerome calms down eventually against whoever is holding them harvey lowering his gun and jim and him unsure of what to do till jervis or batman tell them to leave its over. Jerome giving up and sagging against whoever shaking as a broken laugh bubbles up. Jervis takes the moment to close jonathans eyes. Jerome doesn't say anything as hes let go swaying on his feet somehow his silence is worse than his outburst. He doesn't say anything as someone carries Jonathan out or when he somehow ends up back at his base he doesnt change or clean up his mind his running faster then he can keep up trying to find a way anyway to get his Johnny back. He jolts back when he the ghostly voice of Oswald talks about a strange doctor who use to run arkham bringing fish back from the dead. A smile stretches across his face as his base fills with laughter looks like hell just have to pay the strange doctor a visit
