SANJI X WEDNESDAY ADDAMS READER X VINSSMOKE FAMILY
WARNING: CURSES,
Okay, the vinsmoke family invited sanji, and you, to go their home. Sanji was so nervous that you would fall in love with his brother.
But you wouldn't, because sanji is the first man to fall in love with you. But sanji wants to make sure you're okay with his family.
You and sanji left the sunny ship, and then you finally met sanji sister. Rejiu, and then you and sanji go met, sanji brothers and his father.
And how did it go? Um... well. "Well, well, well, what sanji brought us today?" Said yonji, then niji looked at you with wide shock. "Is that what I think it is?!" Said niji.
"(Y/N) Adam," said judge, sanji face became so nervous hearing his father said your name.
"WOW, it really is (Y/N) Adam," said ichiji, smirk. "I heard she is the strongest on the straw hat crew." Said rejiu,
"Well, in that case, how about introducing to us. My name is ichiji, " he said, holding your hand and kissing it.
It makes sanji very disgusted from his brother, you same as well. You hated him already, the one who can kiss your hand is sanji.
"Got a say. That dress is good on you, but it needs red, " he said, looking at your dress. Niji and yonji were jealous.
Oh yeah, and here your dress:
Yeah... you don't like that color. "Really!? She be more beautiful, when she can wear with blue" said niji, "shut up, she was to wear green!" Yonji yelled.
They started arguing, and then you looked at sanji, who looked at the ground. You hold his hand. He looked at you and made him feel everything was all right.
But until ichiji grabbed your arm, you pulled you torward him. That made sanji mad, "you dating with him!?" Ichiji yelled, yonji and niji smirk.
"I'm sorry to say, but sanji is getting a bride for our family convention. So you did a real man, " said niji, laughing at his weakly brother.
"Yeah, you need us, not him," said yonji. He put his hand on your waist, and it made sanji really pissed off. "Get it off," you said, yonji looked at you, "I said. Get your hands off me, ".
You punch yonji cheeks, causing him to fly out, and hit his back against the wall cause to Crack. Everybody was shocked to see, yonji got up and looked at you.
You gave him a death glare, "Well, you kind of sexy one, I like strong-minded girl like that," said niji smirk at you.
Yonji tch, judge was impressed by your skill, he heard all about you on the newspaper. He was thinking of making you marry each one of his three sons.
Cause he knows how powerful you are, and you will be great having his grandchildren. You didn't want that. You only love sanji.
You'll do anything for sanji, and he will do as well. "Y-you... bitch!" Yonji yelled, and he was about to attack you, "that enough, " said judge.
You looked at him, "There no fighting in family meeting, that enough today," he said, looking at you.
After the fight today, you and sanji get a different room, which means you're see each other. As you go in, you see lots of pictures of niji, yonji, and ichiji.
Hanging around the walls. Do you want to burn this picture to Hell, but you can't. You took a warm bath.
You missed sanji, you always sleep together. Like you laying top of his chest and warp around you. You missed that.
But then again, you stuck sanji family forever.
Hey, guys!!! Thank you for reading this!!! I hope you enjoy it!!! And if you want more, just give me your best headcanons, and comment below!!!

can you make an erasermic x reader or just an erasermic one-shot?
I'll try my best 😄
Hope you enjoy as always have a good day!
Warning: mentions of abuse
Erasermic x reader
You walk into U.A high to start your first day as a teacher. You take a deep breath as you walk into the teachers lounge and look around to see a couple pro heros you recognize from the news.
"this is awesome" you think to yourself as you head towards the coffee maker.
You see a grumpy older man with black long hair and a tired expression drinking coffee. as a spunky man with blonde hair tries to negotiate something that you don't quite understand.
you grab some coffee and go to grab creamer as you see the black haired man is blocking it. But you being you are to shy to ask him to move.
The spunky blonde man looks at you and smiles looking back at the black haired man. "Sho your blocking the creamer" he says and winks at you causing you to blush slightly
"your so annoying" the black hair man says as he moves
"Th..thx" you say quietly.
"no problem!" He says warping a arm around aizawa.
You look at them and smile "support" you say happily.
"huh?" The blonde hair says clearly confused.
"oh sorry you guys just reminded me of a old married couple" you say awkwardly.
The blonde hair man thinks for a minute "she thinks where married...and old apparently" the black haired man says.
The blonde haired man laughs "oh that's what you meant. Well where not married but we are dating"
"oh my bad sorry" you say nervously
"Nah don't worry about it" the blonde smile's
"Your the new teacher here correct?" The black haired man asks
"yeah the names y/n".
"well I'm Hizashi and the is shota" the blonde man smiles
"....wait..... I recognize you guys you guys are Eraserhead and present mic right?" You say happily
"Yes that's us" shota says slightly annoyed
"I'm honored to meet you two. But I should get going"
"See ya later cutie!" Hizashi says and winks at you again.
You blush furiously and leave the room accidentally leaving your coffee behind.
"You need to stop flirting with strangers Hizashi" shota says sighing
"what you jealous?" Hizashi asks smugly
"in your dreams" shota walks out of the room
Later that day your lounging around the couch in the teachers lounge grading history papers. "Being a teacher is so freaking hard" you sigh to yourself.
"Tell me about it"
You look up to see shota leaning on the back of the couch with a coffee cup in hand staring down at you.
"Oh, hi shota"
you sit up so you can see him better.
"you know this room isn't your living room right?" Shota looks at you slightly annoyed.
"yeah I know.. but this place is so much more relaxing then my place so I thought I could grade papers here"
"How is school more relaxing then your own home" shota gives you a perplexed look.
"um..."
" there you are sho!!" You hear someone yell from behind shota.
"I wasn't aware you where looking for me" shota sighs as Hizashi leans over the back of the couch to look at you his hair dangling into your face.
"let them breath Hizashi" shota gives Hizashi a stern look.
"they don't seem to mind" he smiles and he nods towards you who is playing with his hair.
You pause as you notice what you're doing. "I am so sorry" you quickly apologize.
"nah I don't mind. It feels good actually" Hizashi smiles as shota rolls his eyes.
You blush slightly and smile "I...I can counting if you want"
"it's up to you" he ruffles you hair then looks at shota to discuss teacher stuff as you play with his hair.
The next day you arrive at the school pretty early.
"i hope I'm not to early" you say to yourself as you walk into the teachers lounge.
As you pass by a mirror you see a bruise on your face.
"shoot it actually bruised." You sigh. "That bastard. I hope no one notices"
"You hope no one notices what?" You hear shota say as you jump to face him .
"Sh..shota I didn't see you there"
"clearly" he responds and looks at your cheek which has a bruise on it.
"what happened?" He says there's a certain sternness to his voice which scares you.
"Um... nothing happened I'm fine" you say nervously covering your bruise.
"that bruise says otherwise" he moves your hand so he can see the bruise.
"it's from my dad." You sigh
"your dad?" He asks as he looks at you anger boiling up inside of him.
"mhm...he got a little drunk last night." You look away.
"that's no excuse to hit his child" He almost shouts
"hey guys what are you talking about" Hizashi walks in and pauses after seeing the bruise on your face.
"Omg y/n what happened!?" He runs to you and inspects the bruise on your face.
"My dad go a little drunk but I'm fine really" you force a smile.
"I want to meet your dad" aizawa says sternly.
"it's fine shota really"
"it's not at all fine" Hizashi says hugging you.
You pause as he hugs you but after a minute hug him back. Burying you face into his chest.
"Thx" you whisper
After work you waln towards your house with the two pro heros following close behind you protectively.
"You guys really sure you wanna do this?"
"Of course we are" Hizashi gives you a reassuring smile and ruffles your hair. You look at shota who just nods.
"okay if you're sure" you shrug
As you approach your house you pull out a spare key and unlock the door.
"dad I'm home!" You call out
"the hell took you so long"you hear your dad grumble from the living room.
"I ..i brought some guests...they want to talk to you" you fidget nervously as you walk towards the living room.
Your father looks at shota and Hizashi. "Aren't these those two pro heros you can girl over so freaking much?" Your father asked madly.
"uh...yes" you whisper looking down scared but also trying to hide your blush.
Hizashi puts his hand on your shoulder.
"I'd like to talk to you about the way you've been treating y/n" aizawa says clearly holding back anger
"what the hell did you tell them!?!!" Your father yells at you and you step back.
"I suggest you shut up" shota says glaring at your dad.
Hizashi looks at you. "Let's wait outside while sho handles to is okay?" He says and you nod following him outside the house.
You both sit in silence. Hizashi speaks up and breaks the silence. "So your a fan girl?" He says smugly while smiling.
"uh..i...maybe?" You say blushing furiously.
Hizashi laughs "I can see why I am pretty impressive"
"And cocky" you say smile.
"that what sho's always telling me.
You smile you see police cars pull up to the house.
"uh...Hizashi why are the police here?"
Shota walks out of your house with your father in his capture scarf.
"I'll kill you!!" Your father yells at you as he struggles to break out of shota's capture weapon.
"Shut it" aizawa snaps at him and your father stays quiet as the police arrest him.
You all sit in silence. "Now what?" You aks looking at the both of them.
Hizashi's face lights up "you should come live with me and sho!"
You look at shota who smiles "sounds good to me" he responds and ruffles your hair.
A couple hours later you able it to there house and look around.
"welcome home cutie!" Hizashi smiles as you blushing.
"enough with the flirting" shota sighs
Omg this took so freaking long to make but I enjoyed it so much kinda made it up as a I went along so yeah bye~

~an excerpt from a letter from Will Sewell to his brother, Fred Sewell~
Winter 1915
Fred,
I hope Britchester is treating you well and your classes aren't too difficult (har har, I know you're probably learning circles around everyone else). Things are pretty well here, the cows are all healthy and we're getting ready for calving season. Got some real promising prospects this year too.
It seems all anyone is talking about around here these days is the Valentine's Day dance, something you know I wouldn't normally give much thought to. Elsie has been plain unable to talk about anything else for months. She's shown me the dress her and Ma are making at least five times. I don't know how many different ways I can say that it's a pretty blue.
What's maybe more surprising is Ma, she's been dropping hints left and right that I should ask Miss Clara Parr to go with me. I think she thinks she's being subtle? But it's plainer than the nose on your face what she wants. I'm not sure why she's decided to meddle now, she's never done anything of the sort.
Miss Parr's nice, I think? I'll be honest I don't think the two of us have ever exchanged more than a couple words.
Now now, I know what you're going to say, that for a man of twenty-three I seems mighty scared of asking a girl to a dance. I guess I am getting up there in years, best be carving me a cane soon before my back completely gives out. I know you have your dalliances up in the big city, and you know how I feel about them, but even if I didn't, everyone knows everyone here, If I got to dance with a girl that's no small thing.
You're going to tease me even more mercilessly than you already do, but I'll be honest, Pa's grand stories of love at first sight and how he simply had no other choice than to immediately ask Ma to marry him, may have warped my senses a bit. I suppose it's time I shifted my priorities a bit, and Clara does have the benefit of not having known me since I was in short-pants.
I hope you get the chance to leave your lab sometimes, I know you're busy working on the newest advancements in chemistry and some such, but if that war over in Europe has taught us anything, it's that we've got to seize the day while we still have it.

This isn't exactly a relationship problem in the traditional sense of the term but I suppose you're probably the only person that could help me out with this.
My girlfriend got warped into a nerdy slob, has been for a while now. It's something that we both learned to embrace, she loves how she is now, and as a nerdy guy myself its great for us to be able to connect on that kinda stuff now. The slobbiness was a little harder to get used to but I've come to enjoy it as well.
The problem is my friends and family. Formerly our friends. They think I'm nuts, they avoid her like the plague now (saying she smells like the plague too) and I can understand why to an extent but with the way they talk about her like she's a brand new person. Which I think we both know is complete bull. My parents have always been "TF-Phobic" if that's a term, after my sister had been turned into a cougar they outright stopped inviting her to family events, eventually she took the hint and basically only talks to me now.
Of course, when they realized my brilliant sexy hiker girlfriend now enjoyed a nice evening of anime, video games and greasy, salty chips, they freaked out. I predict that if I still plan on marrying her my sister may very well be my best man (or best woman I guess lol).
My friends are just being jerks about it, thinking it's a fetish thing no matter how much i tell them otherwise and even suggest I'm happy she's been changed in the first place! Similar ribs and a general reluctance to let her come to our usual hangouts paint a pretty clear picture to me.
No idea how my girlfriend's old friend group are dealing with her changes but she doesn't seem too bothered about it. I met some of her new gaming/anime buddies online and they're nice enough.
So this is what I'm dealing with, I guess as a shrink you probably hear about stupid woes like this all the time, hope I'm not bothering you with this. I suppose I'd just appreciate some thoughts on all this. Thank you so much for taking the time to read all this. I hope you're having better luck with your own issues.
I’m sorry your friends and family have chosen to treat you and her like this. I’m also happy to hear your relationship was able to survive the change, I know that takes a lot of work, and dedication, so good for both of you.
I don’t really have a magic way to convince them to become more tolerant and inclusive. You can only stand up for yourself and clearly communicate that their comments towards you and your girlfriend are hurtful, and if they value you in their lives they’ll stop it immediately.
If they can’t respect your request, and boundaries then it’s time to drop em’. Easier said than done, but hopefully it won’t come to that. If you make your boundaries clear, then I find people will generally respect them.
Besides that your girlfriend has already found a new group of friends, and you’ve got your sister, so it’s not like you’ll be stranded on an island if you do cut these toxic elements out of your life.
And just know you’re not the only person to go through this. Couples have been battling with their communities since the dawn of time to be with who they want. You’ll survive and make the best decision for you and your partner.

Hiii, I really like your blog. I don’t know if you reply to your asks, and im sorry if im bothering you. You seem very knowledgeable about the beatles, so I wanted to ask if you know whether Paul was a bit of a possessive jealous type of boyfriend. Because most of the things I’ve read only paint him in a good light, it almost seems pr-ey lmao. Thanks so much and sorry! (I know im a bit nosy sorry again)
Hullo anon! Thank you! I'm flattered you'd ask me, thanks for thinking I have something to say on the subject. I'm a little curious why you're asking, but I will try to answer as best I can. This is NOT meant as a slam on McCartney though it may not be flattering; I was asked, and I'm trying to answer with the knowledge I have.
There are some caveats, though. I think it's dangerous to make broad statements about a real person's private behavior. I also don't know any more than I've read, and don't have any special insight. I also think people are complicated and even what's reported isn't going to give a full picture. So the following isn't meant to be a full portrait, or an indictment. It's just what comes to mind on this topic. Also keep in mind that Paul is an 81 year old man who has a dating/marriage history of like 65+ years at this point. People do change.
What we can pull together, in my opinion, paints Paul as someone I wouldn't necessarily want to date, though he's hardly the worst. For example, his steady Liverpool girlfriend, Dot Rhone, has some things to say that may be alarming. In Dot's telling (with some of this confirmed by himself) he could be controlling of her appearance and what she did and who she interacted with. Then again, it was the 50s and he was basically a teenager, so I don't think it's entirely fair to pin one's entire character reading on that.
We also know that while dating Jane Asher for six years, he continued to see many other women on both a casual and ongoing basis. However, while we know he did get jealous at least once of her other romances, we actually have no idea what, if any, arrangement was between them or whether that incident indicates he didn't like her seeing other men, or just, that one got too serious. Asher has never broken her silence about her relationship with Paul, after announcing their split on live television, which is a baller move.
We know that while Linda Eastman was very interested in Paul, she wasn't initially jazzed about marrying anyone again, and had a career as a photographer and was living a single life. This isn't strictly to your question of jealousy, but it's complicated and up in the air whether Linda would have, in another relationship, chosen to keep working or fulfill her own creative ambitions rather than raising a family and joining Paul's band, by most accounts with some initial reluctance. I'm by no means saying Paul 'forced' her into marriage, Wings, or being at home with him every evening, but I am saying that knowing what Paul was looking for, she chose to marry someone who was definitely looking for those things. And there are accounts from people like Peter Cox who claims Paul could be very controlling (wanting her to himself, making sure she was home every evening, needing to be the center of attention, etc); I won't link it here because I have no idea how much he's to be trusted, but it should be easy to google.
But I also think that the good parts of Paul's relationships are also real, so for my money, the picture I get is of someone who is fairly controlling, wants a "traditional" type of marriage for someone raised in the 50s, and also genuinely loves his family. He's also one of the most powerful people in the world, and that is inherently going to warp the power dynamics around him. He's also been able to, at least in some quarters, curate his image and possibly create a more idyllic picture than you'd see if you were there. In fact, many journalists in the 70s took potshots at his "perfect marriage" image, though I think a lot of that is their problem. So your sense that there's some PR around him I think is valid. But there's also accounts you can find (Francie Schwartz, Dot Rhone, Peter Cox, to name a few) to get another side. Both are biased, but put together I think a reasonable person can draw some conclusions.

I would like to add–as someone who does not have 100 pics of Lucille falling out of her jacket, though no shade–that even though Thomas changed his behaviour, I'm not sure that counts as a redemption arc.
Redemption really isn't what most people want to think it is. Simply loving someone is not enough to qualify anything as a redemption arc. Falling in love is not a character arc, quite frankly; it's a lazy stand-in that we see in a lot of media, to the point that it now acts as a shortcut for a lot of the work that has to go on to create a real arc for someone. It frustrates me to no end when I see it, and it's everywhere. If anything can be said of Guillermo del Toro, it's that he doesn't do things by halves. There is nothing half-assed about Thomas and Edith's relationship, and I don't think del Toro ever intended it to be a shortcut to representing Thomas' redemption; that's just not the kind of writer GDT is. Redemption is hard work. It includes both passive thought and real action. Thomas might pass the latter half of that test, but he certainly doesn't even come close to passing the former.
Thomas Sharpe is a man in the early 20th century. If he really wants out, really wants it, it's only too easy. There is nothing stopping him from going to the police and pointing the finger at Lucille. "Oh, but she could tell them about all the other depravity!" This is a period of time where history of institutionalisation, in the very best case scenario, made most people distrust you and dismiss anything you said, for the very same reason OP called Lucille "psycho." The police would have absolutely no reason to believe Lucille especially as she was already suspected of murdering her parents, so if Thomas refuted her and said he had nothing to do with it? His social standing as a baronet alone opens doors for him it does not for Lucille. So unless the police had very good reason not to take Thomas' word over hers, they're not going to. If Thomas was as disgusted with everything as some like to claim, and so ready to leave it behind, all he has to do is say that his sister is very troubled, quietly have a word about her being locked up as a youth, and it's over. He could pin everything on her and who would stop him? Who would stand up for Lucille, the "psycho?"
But that would only reinforce GDT's point. The Sharpe siblings love one another because they have no one else. Maybe most people haven't read it, but there's several documents that del Toro released on Twitter explaining the Sharpes' backstories and if I recall, Edith's, too. Thomas and Lucille were both horribly abused by their parents, and they had nowhere else to turn but one another. The underyling message is that the circumstances, the house built on the clay-hill of death, warped both of them. Their terrible parents warped both of them. Society's expectations warped both of them, and turned them into the dark and desperate people they are in the film. You're not really intended, as the audience, to be able to separate Thomas and Lucille very easily. They're kind of a package deal. What it is constrasting is against Edith, who grew up very loved and cherished and yes, not without her share of tragedy, but how different her circumstances were. She is the contrast to both of them, not just to Lucille.
And Thomas, up until he very moment he meets his own demise, is trying to save both of the women. He doesn't have to do that, either. He could just have Lucille sent away again and wipe his hands. Hell, he could get the government to kill Lucille for him by turning her in and getting them to hang her for murder. He could, in any way he wanted to, turn his back on Lucille; even if he didn't love Edith, so what? People married for money all the time, as the McMichael family proves all-too-well. And yet, there's no intention of doing that. He marries Edith, and is prepared to take her money, but there is no hint or suspicion that he's using her to get away from Lucille. There is nothing in his behaviour that has ever suggested a man trying to escape fate.
With Thomas and Lucille's backstory, though, if Thomas did that–if he did abandon his sister to his fate by either allowing Lucille to hang or to be committed for crimes he equally participated in, he would be just as villainous as he was when he helped murder his first three wives. There is no way to look at Sir Thomas Sharpe and conclude that he was innocent of anything, even if he gets away from Lucille. Was he starting to redeem himself? Maybe. I still don't think that, given all the time in the world, Thomas would ever be sorry for the first three ladies, and even if he was, his death is the beginning of that arc, not the end of it.
I also find it really troubling how readily a lot of women throw Lucille under the bus as "psycho" so they can find Thomas "innocent," all in the name of amatonormativity. Thomas' love for Edith is not greater than his love for Lucille simply because Edith is not his sister. Sure, you might be disgusted by the idea of incest, and that's fair, but that is not the message the film is positing. GDT does not treat the love between Thomas and Lucille as being on a different level to the love between Thomas and Edith. Whatever you think of Thomas, at very best, he's still a willing accessory to three murders. He's still very much participating in a fully sexual relationship with his sister. He appears to have no plans to stop either one of those situations. He wasn't going to care about Edith any more than he cared about the others; it was an accident that he fell in love with her. I think a lot of women want to feel like they're still good people at the end of the day, though, and too many believe that it's a moral failing to be in love with an incestuous murderer like a wife, so they invent reasons Thomas is innocent and only Lucille is evil to keep themselves safe. Except you only need that safety if you invest yourself in the idea of love as proof of morality, which it is not.
The arc here isn't "Thomas fell in love with Edith so now he's good," it's "Thomas fell in love with Edith too and he's trying to bring Lucille as into her light as he can." He is trying to help Lucille retreat from her own dark hell, and if that's not love, I don't know what is.
Well, whaddaya know, falling in love can be a character arc. But look at how nuanced and complex the story is where it appears. It is never used as a shortcut.
For those of you who have watched Crimson Peak, whats your take on it?
I just got done watching it and i have a few things to say about it.
It was a extraordinary movie dont get me wrong. Its just one of the most horrifying movies ive watched ever. Not because of there being horror but because of the sister being a total phsyco. Its a GREAT movie but just.... Lots of blood too. Kinda pissed Thomas was killed because he redeemed himself in the end.
Like the Sister is fucking crazy. Thomas was getting a redemption arc and she kills him and has the AUDACITY to cry afterwards.
But i must say... That ONE scene was quite fun to watch.

FAKE DATE
Pairing: FFXV! NYX ULRIC x GENDER NEUTRAL!READER
Words: 10.822
Warnings: some cursing, fluff, mentioning of cheating
A/N: So.... this idea started as a quick idea for a one shot.... I guess, it got a little bit out of hand... but who cares... have fun... it's worth to read it
Summary: Your ex marries your cousin and because it's family, you have to attend there with a date. No matter how hard it would be for you. You talk with Crowe about it and she comes up with an idea: a fake date with one of her friends, Nyx Ulric. Nyx agrees reluctantly and even if he had sworn to himself to avoid meeting new people or rather to let them get too close … little did he know that you could change this plan without even knowing it…
"Crowe, it's horrible! I really tried to talk with my mother but she won't accept the fact that I don't want to come to this wedding. She said: 'We become a family. You're mature enough to work past all this'. Argh! I would love to scream.", you cried out, raking violently through your hair with your fingers.
"Yeah... Right... It's about maturity that you have to watch how your cousin marries your ex-boyfriend who had left you. For your cousin. This marriage is crazy. Since when do they even know each other?"
"For seven months.", you muffled into your hands.
"Wait! What? You met this idiot what? Ten months ago!"
"Yup. And then, we had a family meeting where he met my cousin. They got along pretty well. Maybe I should have sensed something there already. But I didn't.", you said heartbroken.
"So, he met your cousin behind your back, he cheated on you and your mother still wants you to join the wedding? Are really all of your family so stupid, sorry for that, to accept the fact that he’s a lying and cheating bastard?"
"Yes, they are!", you cried out, burying your face into your hands once again, "Just because he's some high-paid, upper class doctor. And you know what the worst is? I have to bring someone with me. A date. You know for the 'aesthetic'. It’s my mother’s twisted ‘perfect world’ thingy. But I don't have someone. I'm still hurt because of what he had done to me. I don't wanna meet someone new.", you breathed devastated.
Crowe nodded slowly, understanding your point because she was there as she had picked up the shattered pieces that had been your former self. Then, an idea popped up in her mind even if it was a tricky one, "YN, I might have a solution for your problem."
Slowly, you looked up, "Yeah... I already considered running away but I can't. My mother would find me everywhere."
Crowe chuckled, "No. Not that. Maybe we keep this running away idea as a back-up. No, I might have a solution for your date misery."
***
The next day, Crowe searched for Libertus and Nyx in the training area of the Kingsglaive headquarters. Finding them warping around, she watched them for a while before both men closed up to her for a small break.
"I will never really get used to this warping shit. My stomach makes somersaults all the time.", Libertus complained and rubbed over his stomach and chest to calm down the heartburn.
"Well, not every person is made for flying.", Crowe said teasingly what caused Nyx to chuckle and Libertus to roll with his eyes.
"So, what's up? It's a bit too early for you.", Nyx said, leaning against a pillar with crossed arms.
"Actually, I wanted to talk with you, Nyx. I... I need your help.", Crowe said carefully.
Nyx frowned as he saw the wariness in his friend's eyes, "And for what?"
"The thing is... I don't really need your help. It's rather a friend of mine.", Crowe said and saw how Nyx pressed his jaws together.
"Crowe? Is this another try to set me up with someone?", he asked serious.
Crowe gnawed on her lower lip, "No... Well... Not really?"
"Crowe! Come on. We already had that!", Nyx said serious, drawing his brows together.
Crowe raised her hands, "I know, I know. You made this clear the last time. But this is different. YN really needs help. Listen, their ex marries and they have to attend there-"
"Why? Why do they have to attend their ex' wedding?", Libertus asked confused.
Crowe grimaced, "Well, he's marrying their cousin."
"What?", Nyx and Libertus called out at the same time.
Crowe pinched the bridge of her nose, "It's a pretty shitty situation. This asshole cheated on YN with their cousin a few months after they started to date. But because he's such a great doctor, with much prestige and money, everyone seems to be cool with this wedding no matter how YN feels about this."
"Holy six...", Libertus whispered, shaking his head at how complicated this situation seemed to be.
"And why do you need me? What role shall I play in all this?", Nyx asked even if he already had an idea what would come next.
"Well... Not enough that YN shall be part of the wedding, they also shall bring a date along. Something about aesthetics or stuff. I dunno. Don't ask me. And that's the point where I need your help, Nyx.", Crowe said and looked at her friend with a pleading expression and a hopeful smile while Nyx stayed silent.
"Why don't you ask me for help?", Libertus asked, pointing at himself.
Crowe looked apologetically at the taller man, "Well, sorry, but I think Nyx is more of their type-"
"More of their type? Crowe!", Nyx called out, getting slightly agitated.
Crowe raised her hands in surrender, "Calm down. I don't wanna set you up with them. But YN shall bring a date to this already crazy and hilarious wedding. The idiot cheated on them for several months, left them and now, YN’s still very hurt. After the breakup and the announced engagement, they were a mess. I needed some time to collect all the pieces that were left from them. They're not able to date someone or to find someone new. So, I thought about a fake date. It's not a real date. You just have to act like it. Please, Nyx. You don't have to do much. Just accompany them to this wedding. Keep them company and distract them a little. Just have some fun."
Nyx considered the idea. He wasn't really in the mood for dates or weddings but he knew Crowe well enough. If she thought about this as a good idea, he really might be helpful. Nyx’ strong helper syndrome was now also kicking in once again, "So, just if I say yes, and I say if, what shall I do?"
On Crowe's lips grew a smile because she knew Nyx would say yes if he was already this far with his considerations, "Nothing much. You meet them. I guess they will pick you up or something. You attend the wedding in the church and the party afterwards together. That's it. You don't have any responsibilities except to be by YN's side as their date. Maybe support them a little bit during this whole carnival."
"And when shall this trickery be?", Nyx asked warily.
Crowe's face changed into a grimace once again, "That's the stupid part... It's this weekend."
"Crowe!", Nyx called out. It was already Wednesday.
"Hey! It's not my fault. YN also told me about it yesterday. Obviously, they tried to discuss this whole thing about the presence with their mother but she was very persistent with this point. Nyx, it's urgent. Next to you two, they're my best friend. I hate to see them suffer. It’s not fair because they’re a jewel of a person. That their ex shall get a happy ending after everything he had done is already the biggest joke. But now, he will become part of their family, as well. I really need your help.", Crowe begged.
Nyx took a deep breath and released the air slowly, "Alright, alright. I will do it. But", he said and raised his hand as Crowe already started to get excited, "I guess I need a tuxedo or something like this-"
"I will take care of that! You don't have to do anything like I said. I promise."
"Then, just one more thing. Maybe it would be better if we met before the wedding? You know, to check if we get along and if the chemistry is working."
***
"He did say yes?"
"You really had doubts?", Crowe asked with a smirk. Your reaction had been gold as she had told you that she had found a date for you: Nyx Ulric - one of her friends and colleagues.
In fact, you had heard a few things about him. That he was from Galahd, had lost his family and had a tendency to be a little bit gruff in front of others but with that he was just hiding his soft side, as Crowe had told you. To meet him and Libertus was long overdue, "Well... A little bit to be honest. I mean, he doesn't know me. I know we will just be acting but still it's like a blind date. What if we don't get along? It's all about chemistry and stuff..."
Crowe blinked and stared at you, "Well, I'm sure you two will like each other. In fact, Nyx mentioned the exact same doubts with the exact same words."
"Really? Well... it's maybe just coincidence.", you said, turning around to get something to drink from the kitchen.
But no matter how quickly you had been, Crowe had seen your blushing cheeks and grinned about it. It had been a long time since she had seen you like this: filled with life and pleasant anticipation.
"So, Nyx is okay with this whole fake date thingy?", you asked, while gnawing on your lower lip. You felt nervous to meet him even if he was a friend of Crowe.
Crowe smiled, "Don't worry, he is. You said you could get a tuxedo?"
"Yes! Of course. Just give me his size and I will take care of it. It's easy for me. Tomorrow, it can be here."
"Great. So, could I bring him here tomorrow? You two can meet and he can try on the tuxedo."
"Perfect idea. And I will cook something for us.", you said with sparkling eyes. You had no idea why but suddenly, you were even looking forward to meeting Nyx, your unexpected lifesaver.
***
"You said, I don't have to do anything.", Nyx complained as he made his way through the city the next day with Crowe by his side.
Crowe rolled with her eyes, "Yes and you really don't have to do anything except to try on one or two tuxedos, alright? It's not that I would drag you to a shopping trip. We meet YN at their place where you can try on the clothes. So, we will kill two birds with one stone."
Nyx had laid awake last night while thinking about this fake date idea. Sure, he wanted to help Crowe and her friend but that didn’t change the fact that there was a reason behind his reluctance to date new people. So, once again, Nyx asked himself if he really was doing the right thing…
*
As you heard the first knock at your door, you jumped by surprise. It was friday evening, the day before the wedding and it was arranged that Crowe and Nyx would visit you after they were done with their shift. But still, as your friend was there, you felt excited. You were even sick with nervousness to meet Nyx. He was the first guy you would meet after the horrible break-up and even if it was just a fake date, your hands became sweaty and your heart began to race.
The second knock brought you back to reality and you hurried to open the door, "Hey, guys. Come in-", you stopped as Crowe passed you and your eyes fell on Nyx who smiled at you warm and softly. Never in your life had you seen such a handsome, good looking man. Even your ex wasn't able to keep up with Nyx’ undeniable, rough sexiness. His eyes were the bluest and his lips the fullest. The stubble he sported and his greyish hair with the braids suited him perfectly. You noticed something wild in his appearance which got underlined by the tattoos on his face and ears. For the first time, you understood what Crowe had meant as she said that it was visible that Nyx was from Galahd. He wasn't hiding his roots and as it was for you, there was no reason for him to do this at all.
"YN?", Crowe asked as she saw you gaping at Nyx. Internally, she was pleased with herself. To see you like this told her that she had been right: Nyx was your type of guy.
Crowe's voice brought you back from your daydreaming, "Yeah... Sorry, I was just... Uhm...", you stammered.
Crowe grinned but stepped in to help you, "YN meet Nyx. Nyx this YN, my emotional support when I have to deal with too much of your bullshit."
You smiled thankfully, "Yeah... The support might be questionable nowadays.", you said shyly.
"That's okay. It will change again. I'm sure.", Crowe said.
"It's nice to meet you finally, YN. I heard a lot of great things about you.", Nyx said politely as you invited him in. As he and Crowe had gone to your place, Nyx was intimidated because of your fancy apartment complex. You were from Insomnia but because you were refugee friendly and even tried to help to improve the underground district your friendship with Crowe had been possible which calmed Nyx a little. But as you had opened the door, nervousness and excitement spread through his emotionally cold veins. Crowe had described you as nice, sweet and beautiful. But in Nyx' eyes, these words were far away from being suitable. Your eyes were clear and bright as you looked right into his soul. Your lips had such a rich color that they already looked delicious. Nyx knew he had to keep his composure together and actually he wasn't really interested in meeting new people as he always said like a mantra but you and your sweet appearance made it extremely difficult to stick to his plan.
"I'm sure Crowe made up a few things to let me look better.", you said chuckling.
As Nyx heard you laughing, his heart made a little jump and suddenly, he asked himself how it was even possible for someone to hurt you at all.
Pleased with Nyx' reaction about her friend, Crowe grinned, "No, I was always honest and I just told everyone how amazing you are."
"Liar. But that's okay. So, I... The tuxedos already arrived and the dinner is almost done. What about you try on the clothes, Nyx, and then, we eat?", you suggested.
"Sounds great.", Crowe said and went into the kitchen to check the oven for what you had prepared.
"Come on, I will show you the way.", you said to Nyx and guided him through your apartment into your bedroom, "So, Crowe gave me your sizes from your uniform. I got an anthracite and a black tuxedo. The only two colors my mother allows tomorrow. Just try them.", you said and shot the man next to a shy smile. Somehow, his scent was able to fill your small room so quickly that you knew it would be stuck there for a few days and you already were looking forward to it.
"Thanks.", Nyx said and cursed himself because he wanted to say more but he couldn't. Somehow, his tongue was tied up into a knot. Obviously, he had been out of training for human interactions a bit too long.
You were about to leave him alone before you stopped at the door once again, "I have to thank you, Nyx. I... If you wouldn't do that I'm sure I would die because of so many things tomorrow. I owe you really big. So, thank you really much.", you said with a shy smile and reddening cheeks. And before Nyx could say anything, you left the room and closed the door.
Nyx stared at the spot where you had stood. It was one thing to do Crowe a favor in helping you. But to see all these raw emotions mirrored in your eyes did something to him. Your voice had been filled with sadness even if you had tried to hide it. And somehow, deep empathy for you flooded his veins and anger towards your ex entered his muscles. He should accompany you? He swore to himself to do this and to watch out for you the whole evening. Because like Crowe, he already hated it to see you suffer.
*
"So, you like him, huh?", Crowe asked as you joined her in the kitchen.
You stared at your friend with shocked filled eyes, "I- I don't know what you mean.", you said defensive even if it wasn't really working.
Crowe grinned, "Come on, YN. I know you. And I saw how you were staring at Nyx. Therefore, you like him."
You felt your cheeks blushing and you even pretended to look after your cooking pots so you could avoid Crowe's smug smirk, "He's nice, yeah. I mean, I owe him a lot that he does this for me. I'm grateful for that."
"Yeah... Right. Grateful. Grateful with big, sparkling and hungry eyes-", Crowe said teasingly but got stopped by your elbow and in the next moment Nyx entered your kitchen to present himself. Crowe whistled, "Wow, look at this. I had no idea there could be a real gentleman underneath this gruff surface.", she said, which earned her an annoyed eye roll from the Glaive.
You smiled appreciatively, "Crowe has a point, tho. You look really great in this tuxedo.", you admitted. Indeed, Nyx had tried on the black tuxedo first and it was already a match. Because of the white suit shirt, his blue eyes seem to glow even more. His longer strands gave the tuxedo a nice, foreign touch you already liked, "If you ask me, you're done with testing. Is it comfortable?", you asked, checking the fit on his back.
"Yes, it's extremely comfortable. I had no idea it would fit so well.", Nyx admitted while the soft touch of your hands on his back gave him slight goosebumps.
"I'm not surprised. These are high-class tuxedos. They're very expensive. Don't worry, it's borrowed.", you explained as you saw Nyx' concerned expression, "No one should buy such things just for one evening. So, great. That was it. You're done. You can change again and then, dinner is ready. At least a little try to make it up to you and your time."
As Nyx disappeared in your bedroom once again, Crowe closed up on you with a smirk, "It's so good that I was right with my assumption that you two would fit together perfectly. And now, you will even have some eye candy to look at the whole evening. I'm the best friend you could ask for."
Instead of answering, you just rolled with your eyes even if she was right. But you wouldn't admit it out loud. Never.
*
"God, this was delicious, YN.", Crowe sighed satisfied as she leant back in her seat.
"I just can say the same. This was great. But if I may ask, what was it? I mean, I know the stuff you used but somehow the taste was … I never tasted like this before.", Nyx asked curiously. Whatever you had done, it was delicious but he never had found something similar in Insomnia before.
You chuckled, "Actually, it isn't something fancy. Vegetables, meat and rice. But the spices make the difference. You don't find these here in Insomnia. I got them from Lestallum. There's a huge market full of stands with spices and ingredients you won't find anywhere else. I like exotic stuff so this market is like a treasure."
While you had answered his question, Nyx was fascinated by the way your eyes started to glow in a new way. You were happy to talk about what you liked. Your happiness was contagious and made his heart jump. Nyx caught himself by the thought that this fake-date thingy wouldn't be as bad as he had thought in the beginning.
Crowe watched you and Nyx. She already saw the connection between you two and even if she respected your decision to be alone for a while after everything you had experienced, she saw that both of you were interested in each other. So, for her, it was the time to give you some space, "Oh, look. How late it got already. I have an early meeting tomorrow.", she said and jumped up from her seat, grabbing her jacket, "Thank you very much for this delicious meal and I wish you two a lot of fun tomorrow.", she said before she hurried out of your apartment.
Slightly speechless, you and Nyx looked after her. As Nyx met your eyes again, both of you were laughing. You looked at your clock on the wall, "Late my ass. We just have eight.", you pointed out while still laughing.
"You know what she's trying right?", Nyx asked with a grin.
"Of course. She's trying to set us up with each other."
Nyx shook his head with a grin, disbelieving that Crowe had pulled this trick, "And that although she knows that I don't want to date anyone.", he just said but regretted it immediately as he saw your face. It was a mixture of surprise and disappointment. Quickly, you tried to hide it behind a smile and that sight hurt Nyx even more than he thought, "Oh uhm... I- I didn't mean you... O-or this.. I.. I'm sorry, I...", he stumbled over his own words and cursed himself for speaking so mindlessly.
You waved with your hand to brush it aside with a weak smile, ignoring the disappointment, "Calm down. I know what you mean, Nyx. After what my ex had done, I'm also not much interested in dates. Don't forget that this will be just a fake date.", you said softly to reassure him before you collected a bunch of plates to be able to turn away from him.
But Nyx had seen the sparkling in your eyes that extremely resembled unshed tears. Once again, he cursed himself. Here he was, Nyx had promised to himself to protect you from everything that would happen at the wedding but was able to make you sad in his own way.
Quickly, he stood up, collecting the cutlery to go to your side, "Hey", Nyx said softly to get your attention, he smiled as you looked at him, "I'm sorry, YN. I didn't mean you at all. It's just...Crowe tried many times to matchmake me. It never ended well. I guess, it's because of my job as a Glaive. I try my best but... it's my work. I owe King Regis a lot for saving me. And I see myself forced to pay it back in protecting this city and its people."
"Don't apologize, Nyx. What you and the other Glaives are doing is honorable. Not everyone is able to cope with what you do all day for this city. If someone has a problem with that...well... it's just not the fitting person, I guess. The fitting person would always support you to make your life easier instead of making it more difficult.", you said and smiled.
Nyx was speechless about your caring words and your warm smile, "Thank you. You... I can see why Crowe cares so much about you. You're very sweet. And you know what? I'm looking forward to spending the day with you tomorrow."
You sniffled back a sob, "Thanks, Nyx. I'm sure it will be horrible tomorrow. Just the thought of seeing him makes me anxious right now. But to know you will be with me calms me already.", you admitted softly.
Nyx smiled but also wanted to change the heavy topic to something lighter, "So, about tomorrow. How shall we do it? Already have any plans?"
"Yeah, my idea was to pick you up but maybe it would be easier for you to come here so you don't have to carry the tuxedo around. I mean, if this would be okay for you?", you said while bringing Nyx to the front door.
"Sounds good. Oh, one thing. Shall I do something with my hair? It's not typical for Insomnian citizen-"
"No, please, don't!", you hurried but you looked away as you felt your cheeks blushing again.
Nyx chuckled, shooting you a smile as you looked back at him, "Don't worry. I won't change anything if you don't want to. I just want to make sure that you will have a nice day tomorrow."
***
The next day, Nyx knocked at your door as agreed. Once again he was excited to meet you. This time because he was looking forward to seeing you again. Usually, if Nyx was dreaming during the night, he had nightmares but the last night was filled with dreams about you. This morning, he was more rested and relaxed than ever before.
So, as you opened the door, Nyx was already smiling and happy but as he saw you, his smile faltered and his expression changed into staring, "Whoa, you look amazing.", he breathed.
Your small smile grew into something bigger that reached each of your ears, "Thank you. Come in.", you said excitedly and stepped aside to let Nyx into your apartment.
Ten minutes later, Nyx joined you in the kitchen, dressed in the tuxedo and ready. You prepared some coffee before the car would be there to pick you up, "So, what's scheduled for today?", he asked and closed the buttons on his cuffs. At least, he tried it.
You watched him fumbling for a few moments until you joined him for help, "In fact, everything's pretty timed. We will drive to the church were the wedding will be held. And after that we will drive further to the Caelum Via where the dinner and party will be. I just hope we can escape during the party when the official thing is over. So, it's done.", you said softly. Your fingers were brushing along Nyx' warm skin. You lingered a few seconds longer before you realized what you were doing.
Nyx felt the connection between you and him as well. Your touch was small, soft and warm and everything he wanted to feel again and again. As he saw your caught expression, he smiled at you to show you that it was okay and he saw that you understood.
Coffee, smalltalk and just being with each other let the time run too fast and as your doorbell rang for the arriving car you felt annoyed because this, with Nyx, was pure fun.
Nyx noticed the change in you and placed his hand on yours, "I will be with you all the time. Or, I will be close to you. You're not alone in this, okay?"
You nodded reluctantly but forced yourself to smile. And with Nyx by your side, you left your apartment for the worst day ever in your life.
*
But Nyx stuck to his word and was with you. The car brought you to the church and he was about to leave the limousine as he noticed that you weren't moving at all. Ignoring the driver's glance, he leant over to you, avoiding touching you in fear to scare you, "YN?"
You stared out of the side window. There was the church, the church you wanted to marry in one day. Not exactly your ex but generally. Flowers were decorated everywhere and between the different colorful plants stood your family. Your mother, your dad, both of your aunts and uncles and Matt...your ex.
Nyx followed your gaze and saw the group of people. Even without asking he knew it had to be your family, considering the fact how you were looking at them. Nyx noticed the younger guy in the festive attire and knew instinctively that it had to be the groom. The guy was tall, slim fit and looked like a lot of money. But the way he moved and talked was easy to dislike because he looked snobbish. Nyx saw your distress and felt sorry. He could just imagine what you were feeling right now, "Listen, we can go if you want.", Nyx suggested softly.
You shook your head, "I can't. We're family. My mother would kill me."
Nyx sighed low, "I know family is important but... you're also important. And if you think you can't handle this under these circumstances then it's okay. You don’t have to."
Slowly, you looked at him, already thankful to have him by your side, "I can do that. I have to."
Nyx nodded, accepting your determination before he left the car. The driver opened your door and as you left the car as well, Nyx was already waiting for you, offering you his arm to link your own with it.
As you two closed up on the group of your family members, your mother was the first to spot you. Suddenly, Nyx noticed a slight change in your behavior. You straightened yourself, you held your head high but the grip on Nyx' arm also became stronger.
"Darling! You look great.", your mother said, grabbing your shoulders to kiss you left and right of your face without touching your skin.
As she leant back, you saw the huge, happy smile on her lips that only money could produce, "Mother, you look lovely. The whole decoration is breathtaking.", you said with a huge smile.
It was fake. Nyx could already spot the difference because the smile didn't reach your bright eyes. Then, your mother's attention shifted over to Nyx and he swallowed thickly by the sight of her mustering glance at his appearance.
You noticed her glance as well and stepped in, "Oh, right. Mother, this is Nyx. Nyx, this is my beloved mother."
"It is a pleasure to meet you, ma'am.", Nyx said politely and even bowed a little.
Internally, you grinned about her surprised expression because she never had expected such good manners with a guy who had Nyx' looks. You knew her well enough to know what she thought.
"It's a pleasure for me. Where have you two met if I may ask?", your mother asked.
You knew it was a test and you knew how to play this game, "Through a friend. Nyx is working for King Regis."
"For the King? That's amazing."
You saw the sparkling in your mother's eyes but before she could say anything else, you took Nyx' arm to guide him away, "Excuse us, we will go inside. Searching for our seats.", you said and without waiting, you passed the group to go into the church.
As you two were out of earshot from your family, Nyx leant to you, "That was smooth."
You grinned, "Have you seen her eyes as I mentioned the King? That was pure greed. It doesn't matter if it is money or prestige. She loves it. I'm sure she thinks you're a member of the royal family. And that's the reason why it's okay for everyone that my cousin marries Matt. He's a doctor. A high-paid surgeon. Money and prestige.", you explained.
As you and Nyx sat down, a thought struck his mind. He was just not sure if he should ask or not-
"You wanna know how I could land him?", you said as you saw Nyx' glance.
"No, not how you could land him. Rather...what you saw in him. I don't know you for long but...such a guy? I'm not sure if he suits you well…"
You nodded, "Yeah...trust me, now? I know that, too. But as we met, he was…", you stopped as you remembered the early time with Matt, "We met accidentally in a bookstore. Somehow, we ended in the same row of bookshelves and he bumped into me. Obviously, he liked me so he invited me for coffee. I agreed because he can be extremely charming. But if I think about it now, we never had something in common. I was imagining things and was blinded by his looks. Although ...well…recently, I've met a guy who is more handsome than Matt will ever be."
Nyx knew you meant him. In the way you had said it and how you looked at him told him whom you meant. Nyx' heart skipped a beat by the thought of how you saw him. In his eyes, it wasn't fair. Here he was, sitting next to you, starting to like you. He was attracted to you and still, he didn't want to have any love interest. It always ended badly and that was the last thing he wanted for you. Nyx wanted to say something, to lower your interest in him, but the wedding started and cut him off.
*
The ceremony was beautiful and romantic. You had to admit that even if you hated it. Your cousin looked wonderful and as they both brought up their vows in a solemn way, you had to suppress a tear because it was sweet and lovely what they swore to each other. Just the point 'I will never love someone else next to you' from Matt caused you to roll with your eyes. It was pathetic.
Most of the time, Nyx tried to stay focused on the wedding but it wasn't easy. His brain was busy with different things. On the one hand, he searched for a way to keep you on distance but whenever he had an idea, Nyx asked himself 'why?'. Why should he stay away from you when you were interested in him? He was interested in you, too. You were attractive, sweet and nice but also hurt. The last thing Nyx wanted was to take advantage of your sore emotions or to be the reason to get hurt even more.
"Nyx?"
Your voice brought him back to reality and he realized that the church emptied slowly, "Sorry, I was thinking about something."
"Totally get it. This wedding was...I don't know. Maybe it was the sweetest thing I have ever seen or the most hypocritical. But no matter what it was, it's over now."
"Then, if I may?", Nyx asked and offered you his arm once again.
Smiling, you took his arm and walked down the aisle with Nyx to leave the church.
*
As you reached the festive decorated ballroom of the Caelum Via, Nyx wasn't surprised anymore. You had told him that your family and even Matt's had a lot of money and they loved to show it. But even if you were dressed in something expensive and even if you knew how to act properly amongst all the other high society people, Nyx noticed that it wasn't really your world. You had been forced into it by blood and family relations.
You introduced Nyx to everyone you met on your way to your table. And not for one second, Nyx felt misplaced by you. You even gave him the feeling as if you were proud to have him by your side.
"Holy six, we have made it.", you sighed as you slumped down on a seat of the table you were aiming for, "Once again, I have to thank you."
Nyx smiled softly, "But I've done nothing."
"You're here. You're by my side. And you're not running away after meeting my family. You keep me sane. I would say you do enough."
Nyx watched you but he was sure he was right with his assumption, "You don't have the best bond with your family, do you?"
You chuckled dryly, "No, not really. It's better now but...I haven't become a lawyer like everyone else, tho. I mean, even my mother had been a secretary in a law office. There, she met my dad, who’s a lawyer. Like my uncles."
"So, you're kinda the black sheep?", Nyx asked amused and saw himself as confirmed: this world was not yours.
"Oh, yeah. You have no idea. That I dated Matt had raised my prestige in their eyes but…", you stopped as Matt and your cousin entered the ballroom under loud cheering, "I have no idea what I was for him. Time distraction? Toy? I mean, we had fun and I feel so stupid for not seeing anything coming."
Nyx had no idea what he should say to comfort you. Maybe there was even no way to comfort you at all. Things like this needed time to heal. But somehow Nyx got the impression that you were stronger than you seemed to be right now.
You wanted to say something but your mother and dad joined your table and gone was the calmness you had felt during the last few moments.
"Darling, have you congratulated Matt and your cousin?", your mother said, placing one hand on your shoulder and one on Nyx'.
That touch looked more possessive than you liked to see, "Of course, I did.", you said with a charming smile.
"Wonderful! Wasn't the wedding a dream? And the vows! I really had to suppress a tear."
"Yes, mother, it was wonderful.", you agreed.
"And you, Nyx? Everything's-", but your mother got called over by your aunts and excused himself again. Even your dad excused himself again.
Nyx waited till she was out of earshot before he turned over to you, "You haven't congratulated them, have you?"
"Of course not.", you said with a huge grin that made Nyx chuckling. You liked the way he smiled. You already liked his presence. He was calm and quiet but knew how to tell his stories to entertain you.
Quickly, the dinner got served and was done and the last part of this circus started: the party. You knew you couldn't leave right away. Even if you wanted to run away as far as you could, it wouldn't look too good. So, you stayed until you would find a good moment to escape.
"Hey, you wanna get some fresh air?", Nyx asked as he saw how you were watching Matt dancing with his partner closely to a slow, romantic song.
Like awakening from a trance, you blinked with your eyes and nodded as you looked at Nyx and his warm, encouraging smile. As you stepped out, you breathed in the fresh breeze with closed eyes.
Once again, Nyx caught himself staring at you in a fascinated way. While you walked across the balcony to the handrail, Nyx followed you slowly and thanked Crowe silently that he had met you, "How do you feel? You're still okay?", he asked carefully.
You turned over to him, "Yes. Yes, I'm feeling good. As I watched them dance, I noticed the way Matt looked at my cousin. He never looked at me this way and I'm… I'm getting okay with it. If they're happy then I don't care. Maybe this wedding was the right cure."
Nyx was impressed how strong you really were. He was sure that you were still hurt but it looked as if you were on the right way.
"Can I ask you something?", you asked, gnawing on your lower lip.
"Of course. I'm at your service no matter what it is. So, what do you desire to know about me?", Nyx said solemnly and smirked as he heard you chuckling.
"I know Crowe can use the King's magic. So, I guess, all Glaives are able to do that?"
"Yes. That's why we're members of the Kingsglaive. Not everyone is able to use these powers so, just the 'best' or talented of the refugees get picked out.", Nyx explained.
You nodded slowly, "It's too bad that refugees get used to fighting battles to secure this city instead of the citizens who actually live here.", you said while letting your eyes roam over the skyline of Insomnia.
"I'm okay with that. I mean, Niflheim attacked my home, Magiteks killed my family. If I can fight against them, I know I do the right thing. Taking revenge. At least as good as I can.", Nyx said low and also watched the scene in front of him.
"I'm sorry for your loss. Crowe told me about it once. Nothing much, just a few things. Is… Is this also the reason why you try to keep people away from you? In fear you could lose them as well?", you asked carefully. Maybe you were too bold but you felt a connection to Nyx that gave you the courage to ask these things.
With a sad expression, Nyx nodded. He was surprised that you had figured him out this quickly but maybe he wasn't such a riddle or you were really attentive when it came to him, "Yeah... you're not so wrong. I know how it feels to lose loved ones so I don't wanna put someone else through this as well. And as a Glaive things can turn bad really quickly.", he said and watched your reaction.
"I guess you're right."
Nyx nodded and felt an unknown pain stinging his heart that you thought like this as well.
"But", you started again, looking straight into Nyx eyes, "I got to know you a little bit today. Trust me, I understand your point but as I said yesterday, the right person wouldn't see a problem with that. I mean… you shouldn't be alone Nyx. No one should. And if you think life is so short for you, you should stop being alone and start to make the best out of the time you still have.", you whispered.
Without noticing, Nyx had closed up on you forced by your words. Unknowingly, you had hit a point: he was alone...rather he was lonely. He felt lonely when he was done with the training and went back to his empty home. He felt lonely when he came back after an exhausting fight on the battlefield. When he felt lonely, the flashbacks and nightmares became worse and darker. These were the times where he wished to have someone by his side who would be there for him. Who would drag him out of the darkness because their light was so much brighter than every shadow would ever be. Bright like your glowing eyes and your charming smile.
Slowly, Nyx leant forward and raised his hand without thinking about it. He just wanted to feel your skin under his touch. Softly, he placed his hand on your cheek and saw your surprise but you stayed where you were as if you wanted him to continue. Driven by your alluring scent, he closed the gap slowly and-
SCREESH!!!
The cry of a bird that flew above your heads let both of you jump away from each other. You and Nyx were breathing heavily while you two recovered from the shock. You smoothed down your clothes to distract yourself while Nyx ran a hand through his hair to do the same.
The situation became awkward but Nyx wanted to show you that everything was alright. At the same time, he wanted to show himself that everything was still alright between you and him, "Hey...uhm… You wanna see some magic?", he asked softly, almost shy.
You smiled, thankfully that Nyx had sensed the awkward tension, "I would love to.", you said while still recovering from the surprise that Nyx wanted to kiss you. Not that you would have stopped him…
Nyx grinned and raised his right hand. He showed you the bare palm and in the next moment, sizzling flames were dancing over his skin as if they were following a rhythm no one could hear. Nyx checked your reaction and was pleased as he saw your sparkling eyes, illuminated by the flames, and the growing smile.
Fascinated, you watched the flames. You felt the urge to touch them but as you closed up on the flames with your forefinger, you already felt the warmth so, you retreated your hand again, "It's hot! I don't know why I'm surprised but… Don't they hurt you?", you asked concerned.
Nyx chuckled, "No, not at all. If you can use elementary magic, you're safe. It's just painful for your enemy.", he said with a grin and was happy to see you smile again.
"Can you just produce fire? Or is there more?", you asked excitedly, totally hooked about the fact how cool this skill was.
"Two more. Lightning", Nyx said and killed the flames by closing his hand before his fist got enveloped by small, twitching bolts that ran across his hand like busy worms. But they became a bit too fast and 'overexcited' and Nyx casted them away before something could get hit by them, "And then, there's ice.", he said and changed the bolts into a subtle fog.
You leant forward to look closer but even in the dim light from the candles and the light coming from the ballroom, you noticed small, sparkling ice particles which were swirling through the fog. Whenever light hit them, they were glittering in every possible color like a prism, "I- I… that's so beautiful. I mean, it sparkles like millions of diamonds."
Nyx chuckled, he never had seen the magic he used on a daily basis as what it actually was: magic. It was something not many people could control. It was indeed something special, usually just reserved for the royal family and yet, he was also able to produce ice and let your smile grow even bigger than before as you had seen the fire, “I don’t know but I guess to see the world through your eyes must be wonderful. You seem to be delighted by the smallest things.”, Nyx said low but smiled as you looked up with a now shy smile on your lips.
“Life is more than just money and prestige. We are surrounded by wonders barely someone sees anymore. I mean, for example in Lestallum, the city uses the energy of a meteor that lies there for centuries. You should see the magical view by night. The golden and blue light dancing into the sky. I swear you never had seen something like this before.”, you said excitedly and once again, you noticed how Nyx was staring at you. It wasn’t unpleasant. Rather quite the opposite. It was a silly thought but somehow you had the feeling that Nyx could see more in you than just a little flirt and a nice kiss at some wedding.
It was crazy. As Crowe told you Nyx would be your type of man, you had laughed about it. After everything Matt had done you needed a break from dates and men and love and all these things. You didn’t want to quit it forever just a little longer but obviously your friend saw it differently and silently, you already thanked her.
Once again, Nyx was mesmerized by you. The way you saw things. How you looked at the world. How you looked at him. He was sure you weren’t flawless - no one was. But no matter what kind of flaws you would have, he wouldn’t care about it. He would deal with everything as long as he could keep you in his life. Giving him the magic he had lost somewhere in his life. Maybe you could be friends or … maybe even something more.
Nyx killed the ice and once again, he leant in for another attempt to kiss you. The moment was perfect again. The way you looked into his eyes and how your lips slightly parted told him what he needed to know - you wanted the same. So, he stepped closer, cupping your face with both hands softly as if you were made out of glass and while you leant forward to meet him on the half way, Nyx leant forward to kiss you-
"Hey, YN, can we talk for a moment- Oh! I’m sorry. Did I interrupt something?", Matt asked and grinned amused as he saw you and Nyx jumping away from each other like caught teenagers.
You cursed internally because it was the second interrupted kiss and you had no idea how many times Nyx would try his luck considering the fact that he even was willing to go this step at all.
Nyx saw that you were annoyed. And he felt the same. He had noticed that you wanted the kiss as well so it was clear for him to try it again but maybe all the interruptions were just signs for him to let it slip? Maybe he shouldn’t try his luck because he was still the Glaive who could die during the next battle. He looked from you at Matt who closed up slowly no matter if his timing had been good or not. And suddenly, Nyx saw that the guy had done this on purpose. He saw it in Matt’s gleaming eyes and in his smirk that he was amused about the fact to humiliate you once again. But as you had said before, he was part of your family now and maybe Matt just wanted to apologize or something. So, Nyx did the only logical thing that came to his mind, "Is it okay for you? I will get something to drink for us then.", he asked carefully, watching your reaction.
You weren’t amused about the idea to be alone with Matt but you nodded. You understood that Nyx might need a break. You waited till Nyx was gone before you crossed your arms over your chest, “You wanted to talk?”
"Yeah, this guy… Tell me, what did you have to pay him so that he would accompany you to this wedding as your date? I’m sure he’s a stripper or something like this. Poor soul-", the loud slap into his face let Matt stop in his sentence. While holding his stinging cheek, he looked back at you, surprised that you were even able to have such a power.
With raging eyes, you stared at him, standing your ground in front of him for the first time. All the anger and sadness you had felt had laid in this one single slap and even if you were no fan of violence, you noticed how relieving this had felt. It had been long overdue, "Don't you ever dare to talk like that about him ever again. He's a Glaive! Protecting you and everyone else in this city with his life."
"Oh, interesting! So, he's just a refugee? He’s not from here? Fascinating with what kind of people you spent your time with. Your mother will be pleased to know that.", Matt said with a smirk, turning around to go back into the ballroom to find your mother.
You called Matt back and he stopped, looking expecting at you with one raised brow. You saw the surprise about your courage in his eyes but the thing was your strength was never gone you just had forgotten to use it. You just needed a trigger to get back to your old self and Matt had found this point without knowing it. So, you stepped forward, keeping eye contact until you stood right under Matt’s nose. With a low but serious voice and a lopsided smirk on your lips you said: "You know, it doesn't matter what he is or not. It doesn’t matter what you or anyone else will think. He’s a soldier and it’s honorable. It doesn’t matter where Nyx comes from. And besides, Galahd was a beautiful, magical and unique place before Niflheim decided to destroy this jewel. No matter what you will do or say to whomever, Nyx will always be more of a man than you will ever be in your entire life, you little, lying cheater.", you said and ended your little speech with a sweet grin as you saw Matt’s shocked and surprised expression.
As you watched satisfied how Matt disappeared back into the ballroom and into the world he belonged to, your eyes landed on Nyx who stood there in the door frame with two drinks in his hands and staring right at you with big eyes.
With a soft, warm smile you walked over to Nyx, taking one of the drinks from his hands, “So, you heard what I said, I guess?”
“Y-yeah, actually every single word.”, he whispered, still not believing what you had said about him, “You had defended me in front of him. I- I mean, I have no idea what he did so you would react like this but … it was impressive to watch and … flattering.”, Nyx said honestly.
You nodded before you gulped down the stiff drink in one go to calm your nerves, “You know, to talk back to this asshole was long overdue. And … as long as he was attacking me it was okay but you … You don’t deserve this. Never. From no one. And mostly not from one person in this room.”, you said and somehow Nyx’ eyes were sparkling even more. Emotions were staring back at you which seemed to be buried away for a very long time.
Nyx, who was still flashed by you, closed the small gap, cupped your face and leant down to kiss you and this time, it worked. As he felt your warm, soft lips, he couldn’t believe it. An emotionally lightning shot though his body and electrified him within seconds as if he had been dead before for years. Your lips tasted as sweet as he had imagined and that you moved along with him gave him goosebumps.
Your heart skipped a beat as Nyx kissed you. It was perfect. It was the only way you could describe this whole scene: as perfect. Nyx’ full lips were warm and demanding in a sensual way. He kissed you not to say something he couldn’t find words rather because he just wanted you. To pull him closer, you grabbed into his suit shirt and jacket what caused Nyx to chuckle about your eagerness but you didn’t care. Like a thirsty plant for water, you were thirsty to taste more of Nyx.
Slowly, the kiss increased as both of you opened your mouths to taste each other's tongues, exploring each other. Nyx still tasted the stiff alcohol on you and breathed in your breath while deepening the kiss. He moved his hand from your face down to your back to pull you closer-
“YN! That’s not appropriate behavior for a wedding!”, your mother called out.
Slowly, you left Nyx’ lips, not seeing any reason to hurry at all. With a stupid grin you looked into the most perfect blue eyes you had ever seen which were sparkling with so much fire and joy as if their light had been rekindled after a very long sleep.
Nyx matched your grin and was still holding you in his arm, snaked firmly around your waist, not ready to let you go just now. Gently, he nudged your nose with his own, “What do you want to do now, YN? Any plans?”, he asked.
“We will leave this place. Together. Come on, Glaive.”, you said, taking his hand in yours to leave the balcony. As you passed your mother, who stared at you in shock, you said: “Goodnight mother, we will leave. Usually, I would say ‘it was a nice evening’ but that would be a lie.”, you said and stepped forward before you stopped once again, “Oh, and I didn’t congratulate the bridal couple because, well, for reasons. But I’m sure they will be happy together. Something tells me they deserve each other.”, and with that said, you left the wedding with Nyx.
Your mother was calling after you but you ignored her. But if you would have turned around one last time, you would have seen how your dad was grinning and cheering for you because in his eyes, you had done the best move possible.
*
While the driver of the limousine drove the two of you back to your place, none of you said something. You were just cuddling. As Nyx had entered the car, you had scooted over to him immediately, leaning your head against his chest while he laid his arm around your shoulders. You had intertwined your fingers with his and with your thumb you drew small patterns on his skin while you were smiling stupidly.
Nyx followed his own thoughts while burying his nose into your hair to breathe in your scent. But none of his thoughts were dark anymore. Rather, he asked himself why he had withdrawn himself the whole time and thought he would do the right thing? The only one he was punishing was himself and with you, he realized that he had done it far too long. The first kiss had been enough to spark the dying flame of all his hopes and dreams again. But the flame wasn’t just some smoldering. It was a roaring fire that filled his chest with all the emotions he had sealed somewhere deep all these times before. Just one kiss with you had been able to break this firm seal.
There was no turning back and Nyx would fight like on the battlefield to let this fire burn till he would die…
Still cuddled to Nyx’ side, he brought you to your floor and to the apartment door. You were about to open the door which would mean the end of the night as you turned around, flinging your both arms around Nyx’ neck to kiss him longingly.
Nyx didn’t need to get asked twice. He pressed you against the door, letting his hands roam over the fabric of your clothes to get a first feeling of your curves while he noticed how your fingers found their way into his hair. You played with the longer strands, tracing down the braids and stopping at the beads you found. Alone this touch was enough to make Nyx hungry for more.
You were surprised how soft his greyish hair really was. The whole evening you had asked yourself how Nyx’ hair would feel between your fingers but reality was so much better than what you had thought. Unfortunately, your lungs demanded oxygen and so, just very reluctantly, you left Nyx’ lips. He rested his forehead against your and was as breathless as you were but he was also grinning. Still playing with his hair, you pushed yourself to ask the question you wanted to ask, “You… Would you like to come in?”, you asked hopefully that he would say yes. For you, the night was still not over.
Nyx leant back, looked into your eyes and chuckled before he smirked about your confusion, “Of course, I want to come in. My clothes are still in your apartment. Remember?”, he teased.
“Oh, right… your clothes.”, you said, grinning from ear to ear, “How inconvenient this coincidence is.”, you teased back.
“Just open the door and I’m sure your clothes will join mine pretty soon.”
***
Two months later…
You stood in your kitchen, preparing the morning coffee as you did every day. The rising morning sun was illuminating your apartment in a magical, golden light. It was this kind of light and the smell of the brewing hot liquid that made it easy for you to lose track of your thoughts. Just two strong arms around your middle brought you back to reality and conjured a lovestruck smile on your lips.
You turned around in the arms to face Nyx who was matching your smile even if it was a tired one. Even his hair was tousled and so, you smoothed down the long, stubborn strands before you pressed a gentle kiss on his lips, “Good morning, handsome.”, you whispered.
“Morning, babe. I missed you in bed. I wanted to cuddle.”, he said, pouting.
You chuckled softly, feeling sorry to disappoint him, “I know but I have this important call in an hour and have to do a few things before- hey! Let me down! Nyx!”, you shrieked, laughing by surprise. Nyx had grabbed you to throw you over his shoulder. With you hanging upside down, he carried you back to the bedroom. You bounced slightly as Nyx let you carefully down on the mattress, “Nyx, come on. I don’t have time.”, you chuckled while he was crawling on top of you, kissing along all the bare skin of yours he could find.
“You said one hour. That gives me still forty minutes to have some fun with you. And then, you will still have some time to prepare whatever you want.”, Nyx said between a bunch of hot kisses along your collarbone before he continued over your neck, your weak spot he had figured out really quick.
You sighed, obeying him and his lips as you always did when he was in this kind of mood. It were two months you dated Nyx and it was still thrilling like in the beginning, “But this call is important. It’s with my dad. You know, because of the contracts I need for the refugee foundation.”, you moaned while Nyx bit into your neck. It was already difficult for you to keep your thoughts straight.
Nyx leant back, looking at you with a smirk, “With your dad, huh? He will understand it if you need some extra time. Don’t forget that he likes me. A lot. So, stop trying to resist me. It’s not even working. Just obey me and my lips.”, he breathed, leaning down, “I know you want me.”, Nyx whispered and kissed you passionately that you melted underneath him. Like you always did.
*
And Nyx was right. You were delayed and you apologized a hundred times to your dad but as you mentioned Nyx, your dad was understanding and brushed it off with a smile and a bunch of questions about Nyx and how he would be doing. In fact, since the wedding two months ago, your whole life had taken a complete turn.
After the wedding, Nyx stayed the night. And the next night. And the night after that. Quickly, the two of you had developed a deep, loving and strong relationship and three weeks later, you followed your heart: you had asked Nyx to move in with you. You didn't need much persuasion because Nyx was looking forward to being able to spend more time with you.
Your mother had called you after the wedding, scolding you for your behavior and how you could dare to bring a refugee as a date. But quickly, you gave her a talk about how bigoted she was and that she had to be more open minded if she wanted to keep you in her life. Very slowly, she realized that you meant what you said and gave in. She needed a bit more time but after a while she started to like Nyx, too.
It was helpful that your dad liked Nyx from the start. After the wedding, your dad had called you to congratulate you for your impressive act in front of your mother before you had left. In fact, he also had heard your little speech you had given Matt as you had defended Nyx and was proud about this as well. You had been speechless because til this day, you never had thought your dad would be proud about anything you ever did. And because the ice was broken between you and him, you talked about everything.
So, three weeks after the wedding, as you, Nyx, Pelna, Libertus and Crowe sat at Yamachang’s, you came up with an idea. You loved spending time with Nyx, Crowe and the others. You loved being in the underground of Insomnia where the refugees were living. You loved the different foods and the music, the atmosphere was unique and exotic but the circumstances the refugees had to live in were questionable. So, you had the idea to do something against it. You were already a big fan of the different cultures and you were convinced Insomnia would benefit as a city if it would use this unknown knowledge.
And with the help and support of your dad, who was hooked by your idea immediately, you started and planned a foundation to help the refugees. The infrastructure of the underground had to be changed and some things had to get modernised while the heart and the soul of everything had to be preserved.
You never congratulated Matt on his wedding and if he was at family meetings, you just refused to come as well. Your mother was raging. Your dad had your back with the most creative excuses. But now and then, when you were awake at night, and while you were watching Nyx sleeping next to you peacefully, you thanked Matt for cheating on you. Otherwise, you would never have found this treasure of a man who had turned your world upside down.
You never thanked Crowe for setting you up with Nyx and you didn’t have to because you knew she was already proud of her matchmaking skills. To see two of her best friends finding happiness and love in each other was enough regard for her.
Because in the end, she had done nothing more than finding a fake date for you, a friend in need…

Misfortune's Intentions
(Liam x OC* Elisse Mallin) (Drake x Riley) in a Choices The Royal Heir fan fiction
A/N This idea came to me one night when I couldn't sleep. In this version from The Royal Heir, it has been nearly three years since Riley married Drake. Their infant daughter, Hope, was named heir to Cordonia's crown. Liam considers the possibility of dating after pining for Riley all these years. Elisse is a noble and first cousin to Queen Amalas of Monterisso. She will eventually become an ambassador, settling in Cordonia to continue Amalas's alliance. She also has a small bit of significant history coinciding with Liam's social season. This first part though will take us through the past for our main characters.
Not sure who to tag for this new miniseries, LOL. Let me know if you want to be added.
Masterlist
Prologue
Two years ago, Cordonia...
"To keep people's attention away from your brother's," Constantine's voice hardened, "decision to abdicate," his fist clinched for a moment, "we will have you participate in a season for a potential bride."
Liam swallowed uncomfortably. He knew there was a possibility his father would insist on this particular custom. He had hoped though that like Leo, he would be given a few years reprieve before he had to choose a bride.
Constantine fought through the chest pain he hid from everyone as he continued to explain what the next few months would be like for his only obedient son.
"We will have the usual bevy of ladies from Cordonia's noble houses. Perhaps sprinkle a few from other countries to appease the people."
"Yes sir." Liam mumbled when his father seemed to silently demand his agreement. "Whatever you think is the best way to move forward."
"Good." Constantine waved toward the door. "You may go. We will make our announcement tomorrow."
Liam bowed his head in acceptance. Still in a state of disbelief as he made his way to his chambers, he didn't hear his best friend calling his name.
"Liam?" Drake jogged to catch up to him. "I heard about Leo. Is it true?"
The new crown prince waited to answer until they were behind closed doors.
"It is." He rubbed a hand down his face. "Leo abdicated."
Drake poured them both a drink. He observed the slight tremble in Liam's hand as he took a healthy gulp of whiskey. Eyes closed briefly as he gathered his thoughts.
"I--I'm going to have to get married."
"What?" Drake breathed in disbelief. "Why?"
"All part of being king." Liam's lips twisted in a bitter smile.
He rolled his glass between his hands as he stared down at its contents. "I have to choose one during this year's social season."
"You have to go through all that Leo did?" Drake asked.
"Yes, but unlike his, I won't know who I'm supposed to choose." Liam grimaced as he swallowed the rest of his drink. "Madeleine had been chosen years ago by Father and Regina. The competition was mostly for the public's entertainment than to actually choose a queen."
Drake slumped back in his chair. "I'm sorry, Liam."
"It's..." He got up to pace, "it's fine. It's an honor to have a chance to serve my country. To marry and have a family...perhaps life will be better."
Perhaps this palace will feel like a home, he thought.
"When will it be announced?"
"Tomorrow."
"So soon." Drake murmured.
Liam briskly nodded.
His closest friend held his glass up in a toast. "Here's hoping, Liam."

Monterisso Royal Palace, a week later...
"Elisse." Amalas hugged her cousin. "Thank you for coming so quickly."
"Of course." Elisse took the offered chair. Her eyes dropped down to the baby bump showing. "How are you feeling?"
"Good." Amalas gently patted her tummy. "This baby has finally decided I'm not the enemy and has agreed that food is definitely a good thing."
Elisse laughed, shaking her head at her cousin's humor.
"But enough about the spoiled future king or queen I’m having." Amalas handed over a letter with Cordonia's royal seal. "Read this."
Elisse scanned the invitation, eyes widening slightly. "Prince Leo abdicated? Do we know why?"
The spy queen chuckled. "You know I do." She leaned over and grabbed a file off her table. "Let's just say that the former crown prince did not want the responsibilities that went along with the crown."
Elisse opened the file and snorted. "I've heard that Lady Madeleine can be difficult to deal with."
"That along with wanting his freedom to wander the earth like a rich playboy are his reasons." Amalas pointed out a photograph one of her agents snapped recently on a cruise ship. "This woman, Katie, is an even bigger reason."
"They're engaged?" Elisse whispered in disbelief. "He didn't waste any time, did he?"
"No, he did not." Amalas reclined in her chair. "Elisse? What would you think of Monterisso gaining an alliance with Cordonia?"
"I think it would benefit our country as well as theirs." She replied, setting Leo's folder down.
Another folder was handed to her. Her lips curved into a soft smile at the pictures of Cordonia's new crown prince. Each aspect her cousin found on Liam had made him a man she thought she would enjoy meeting.
"Marriage is the easiest and strongest alliance one can have with a foreign power."
Elisse looked up. "You're suggesting I take part in Prince Liam's search."
"Exactly." Amalas smiled at her. "I can't think of a better queen for Cordonia than you." She reached over and grasped her hand. "But feel free to say no. I won't force you to do this if you do not wish to."
"I would like to meet him." Elisse admitted. She lowered his eyes to his picture. "He is very handsome."
"You always did like blue eyes." Amalas teased.
Elisse bit back a smile. "I do."
"Would you like to attend Cordonia's social season?"
Elisse slowly nodded. "Yes, I think I would."
Amalas picked up the letter from Constantine. "I'll go ahead and schedule your health exam."
"My what?" Elisse blinked in surprise.
"Cordonia's king isn't taking any chances that his last possible heir marries a woman unable to have children." Amalas grinned at her cousin. "Lucky for him that our family is notorious for our reproduction abilities."
Elisse laughed. "Our mothers certainly came from a large family." Her smile turned tender. "Whenever I think of my future, I always see myself with three or four children."
*****************
A few weeks later, Cordonia, the King's study...
"Have you made a list of those that are participating?" Regina asked her husband.
"I have." He handed her a sheet of paper.
The Queen scanned the names. "What happened to the Monterisso viscountess? I thought from Queen Amalas's letter that they were hoping to make a match."
Constantine's lips firmed in a disappointed frown. "She cannot have children."
Regina's countenance fell. "How tragic."
"Indeed." He replied. "It would have been a profitable match for us." He released a resigned sigh. "I suppose we now settle for Madeleine to take the crown again."
***************
The viscountess's chambers, Monterisso Palace...
"Elisse." Amalas pleaded. "Please, talk to me."
The young viscountess shook her head. Tears fell silently as she clutched a pillow to her stomach. Her thoughts were too much for her. All the plans she had dreamed of as a little girl were destroyed from one simple examination.
All from thinking Liam had beautiful blue eyes and seemed like a nice man she could easily fall for.
A choked sob burst forth as she doubled over from the pain of it all.
"Elisse." Amalas tried to wrap her arms around her. "I'm so sorry."
Elisse knew her cousin was. She knew Amalas would move heaven and earth for her if she could. Unfortunately, there were some things even a powerful queen could not do.
"We'll call in every specialist we can find." Amalas whispered, gently rocking Elisse. "I refuse to believe--"
"Stop!" Elisse cried out. "Please stop." Her anguished eyes met her cousin's. "I can't continue to hear doctors say that it is impossible."
"It's not." Amalas argued. "I can’t believe you are unable to--"
"I only have one ovary!" Elisse snapped. "It is so damaged from the endometriosis and benign tumors that I'm lucky to have a period every few months." She looked down at her worthless womb. "Even my uterus is filled with fibroids to the point they have warped it beyond repair. Surgery won't help." She wiped angrily at her tears. "No one will marry me now."
"That's not true! You--"
"Amalas, you know what nobles need." Elisse bit out. "They need heirs. They need a woman to fulfill that role. I'm completely obsolete in our world now."
She turned away from her cousin's sudden tears. She didn't want her pity. She didn't want anything except those elusive images of cuddling her own children.
If she could turn her mind off and focus on something else, anything else...
"I'm going to go away for a while."
Amalas jerked upright. "What?"
"I need to be alone." Elisse turned to face her. Her eyes filled with tears when her gaze dropped down to her cousin's ever growing baby bump. "I need to come to terms with all of this."
"Will you back in time for..." An expression of guilt flickered over the queen's face for such a selfish question.
"I'll try." Elisse hedged. "I promise."
She knew Amalas depended on her. Though the two had numerous cousins sprinkled in various titled positions all over Europe, they had always had a special bond that made them more like sisters. Perhaps it was their mothers' doing that made certain they would always have the other close at hand.
But Elisse knew deep down, she would have been close to her cousin without any outside influence. The notorious Queen of Spies distrusted most people, even some of their blood relatives. Yet, she trusted Elisse with everything.
She hated to leave her during her pregnancy, but the viscountess didn’t think she could take being around an expectant mother right now.
Amalas hugged her once more. "I'll arrange your travel. But I insist you take Felix with you as a bodyguard." She waited on Elisse's agreement. "Let me know where and when you wish to leave."
"I don't care where." Elisse whispered. "Just as long as I can leave as soon as possible."

New York City, a month later...
"One nondescript bar as requested." Maxwell announced, holding the door open.
"Steaks for the table!" He yelled out.
"And four whiskeys!" Drake chimed in.
Riley rolled her eyes at Daniel. "You're really going to leave me with these guys?"
"I promise I'll work two of your shifts whenever you want." He bargained.
She let out a tired sigh. "Make it three and we have a deal."
He shook her hand. "You are brutal with negotiations."
She laughed, piled the tumblers of whiskey on her tray, and headed for the bachelor party.
She passed three drinks out. "I thought there were four of you."
"There are." Drake winked at her, causing a blush to form on her cheeks. "Right behind you is number four."
She turned around and blinked.
He's so handsome.
Liam smiled at her. "Pardon me, Miss?"
"Hmm?" She shook herself out of her daze. "Of course."
His smile flashed, making her knees feel slightly weak. "If you would..." He gestured toward his seat that she was blocking.
Her cheeks flared even more with color. "Right. Sorry."
She decided then and there to not allow her eyes to rest on him the remainder of their time here.
A few hours later, Liam approached her.
"Thank you for being so patient with us." His charming smile was a bit bashful. "I don't suppose I could repay such kindness with buying you a drink."
Riley found herself mesmerized by his blue eyes. "Where were you planning on going next?"
"I actually hoped you could help with that." He rubbed the back of his neck. "The guys hoped to go to a nightclub."
Her nose wrinkled. "I say forget the nightclub. There's a beach cove I could show you that is just the place to unwind."
"That sounds perfect." He held his hand out. "Shall we?"

Six months later, Edenbrook Hospital, Boston...
Elisse chewed on her lower lip, wishing she could hear what the group of doctors were saying behind the glass partition.
After taking her file and passing it to a man in surgical scrubs, Dr. Ramsey walked back into her room.
"Ms. Mallin, after further examination," his expression gentled, "I believe your doctors in Monterisso were correct."
Elisse lowered her eyes. "I see."
"I still want to perform the surgeries we discussed." He sat down beside her hospital bed. "The severe pain in your uterus will only increase if we don't remove the fibroids. Dr. Tanka isn’t sure though how it will be after your surgery."
"Whatever you think." She closed her eyes tight. "It doesn't really matter what shape it is in. I suppose we should just remove it altogether."
Her doctor rested his hand over hers. He waited patiently for her to make eye contact.
"We won't know for certain until Dr. Tanka gets in there, but we believe we can save your ovary."
A bitter laugh escaped her lips. "By all means, hold on to that worthless body part."
His brow furrowed. "Elisse, I don't like the thought of you in this state of mind before surgery."
"I'm sorry." She replied automatically. "I don't mean to sound like this." Her gaze held his. "I--I never wanted much in life." Her shoulder lifted. "Perhaps it was the life I was born into, but having a family was more than passing on my noble title."
Ethan remained silent, allowing her time to express herself.
"I know I need to accept this, but I couldn't help but hope after reading about your diagnostic team," She rested her head back against her pillow, "I wanted the impossible."
"There's still a chance your uterus can remain intact. We might even be able to save some of your eggs." Ethan reminded her. "You could find a surrogate and--"
"I know." She sniffed. "And I also know there is a chance my eggs might not be in any shape to be saved."
She noticed his frown and gently squeezed his hand. "Thank you for trying, Dr. Ramsey."
"We're not done yet." He stood up when Dr. Tanka walked inside. "We'll talk more later."
Once everything was settled for her surgery in the morning, her bodyguard returned and kept vigil by her bedside.
"Felix," Elisse smiled softly at the middle aged man. "You should go to the hotel and rest."
"I'm fine m'lady." He grumbled.
Her eyebrow lifted at the six foot seven man. "That chair has to be uncomfortable."
A flicker of humor flashed in his eyes. "I've had better and worse, m'lady."
She began to laugh. "I can't imagine anything being worse than that."
"You haven't been on some of the queen's missions." He smiled warmly at her.
Elisse reached for his hand. "Thank you for watching over me."
He gently patted it, becoming gruff with his words that a lady didn't have to thank him for doing his job.
She smiled, taking comfort in his admonishment. Felix had tried to keep a professional distance from her, yet her sadness had him stepping in more and more to offer what comfort he could. He thought of her as a little sister and couldn't help but smile whenever she teased him as if he was family.
Such fondness for her added to the devotion and care he would have normally never given any other noble he was assigned to.
But Elisse was special. He hoped that somehow she would find a piece of happiness that could be all her own.

New York, Statue of Liberty...
Riley swallowed nervously. She didn't know how she could refuse Liam, but it was no use.
After spending so much time with Drake while Liam kept up appearances with Madeleine, she had fallen out of love for Cordonia's new king. The grumpy commoner had touched her heart with his stories of not belonging. She had felt the same way while enduring every snub and insult from Madeleine and some of the other ladies at court.
With so little opportunities to be with Liam, and with feeling a bit hurt that her Prince Charming had not defended her against the allegations, she convinced herself that she had no choice. She had to be with the man that had stood by her side as she tried to locate Tariq.
"Liam, I can't marry you." Her words somehow came out steady. "I came to Cordonia for you, but I fell in love with Drake."
Liam took a step back. "What? You and Drake..."
He couldn't believe it. How had this happened without him noticing? He knew that Drake was fond of her and took her out some evenings. But love?
"Liam?" Riley was growing more nervous by his silence.
Liam couldn't think of what to say.
What should I do?
He only knew he wasn't ready to lose her from his life.
"You...you intend to live in Cordonia?"
She slowly nodded. "If that's okay. I want to see where things go with Drake."
Her words were another bitter slash to his heart.
"Of course." He slid his hands in his pockets to keep from grasping her and forcing her to take her words back. "Just because you don't feel as I do, I would never hold that against you. Cordonia is your home."
She visibly relaxed. "Thank you Liam."
"I think," he focused on her, "I think you will be a benefit to Cordonia. I'm going to make you a duchess."
"A duchess?!" She gasped. "But..."
He knew this would keep her at hand. Give him a reason to see her without appearing as the desperate, rejected suitor. Perhaps now that the scandal was over and things calmed down, she might realize that what she thought was love for Drake was nothing more than gratefulness for his assistance.
Am I wrong for hoping this? Should I instead hope their love is true?
Liam forced a smile. "I arranged for us to go to the top." He motioned toward the statue. "Would you still like to?"
Riley returned his smile. "I really can't pass up an opportunity like that, can I?"
"I hoped you wouldn't." He replied.
He followed behind her, wishing this night had ended differently.
***************
Another five months later, Cordonia...
"Anton and his minions are in chains!" Riley held her glass high as the court cheered.
Liam tugged at the stiff collar of his jacket. It had been a day filled with emotions that he could not share with a single soul. Seeing the woman he thought he loved marry his best friend had cut deep. Discovering they had been kidnapped had caused both anger and worry as he rushed to face down the man who dared to take the throne from him.
Witnessing Riley and Drake fight side by side, each trying to protect the other had been eye opening. Neither cared about anything other than keeping the one they loved safe.
He couldn't begrudge their happiness. Nor could he continue to wish that circumstances had gone differently. Riley was not meant for him after all.
He knew he would have to let the past go and somehow find a way to move forward into the future.
******************
A month later, Monterisso Royal Palace...
"King Liam chose an heir!" Amalas exclaimed when Elisse walked into the main hall.
"He chose one? That is shocking." Elisse leaned forward to see the report that just came in. "Who's the lucky child?"
"That's just it." Amalas dropped the paper. "He has named the yet to be conceived child of the Duke and Duchess of Valtoria as his heir."
Elisse's brow furrowed. "But, he might still marry. His own children should be next in line."
"He says differently." Amalas pulled up his news conference for her cousin to watch.
"This seems wrong." Elisse mumbled. " I know those two are his closest friends--"
"And they are Guardian and Champion of the Realm." Amalas reminded her with an eye roll. "That's what he has had to use to get the people on board with his decision."
"Poor Liam." Elisse couldn't help but sympathize with the king. "He's being pressured on all sides for something he can't completely control."
"I think I might pay a visit." Amalas tapped her finger against her chin. "Perhaps see if the new duke and duchess are amenable to a possible alliance."
"It couldn't hurt." Elisse added.
"Indeed." The Queen smiled warmly at her. "I want you to come along. It has been too long since you and I went on a trip. I could use your ability to read people while I guide them toward a possible arranged marriage for their child and mine."
"I suppose I have to do as my queen commands." Elisse teased. "And I've yet to ever say no to my cousin."
"Doubly lucky for me." Amalas smirked.
"When do we leave?"
"Tomorrow."

Chapter 1 Already Gone
So, the plan, if you were wondering, to beat the hollow and reunite the Mikaelson siblings turned out to be painfully simple so painfully simple it should have been our first option but in fairness, one should never cast a spell until they have learned everything about the spell their casting, a lesson I learned many years ago.
Elijah, Klaus, Kol, and Rebekah, reunited with their eldest sibling Freya within the family compound in New Orleans, Elijah's memories now restored making all four of them ready to get rid of the hollow for good and after giving the siblings a few minutes to catch up with each other and share their stories from the past nine years in which they were all apart, the plan was ready to be put into motion.
At first, I was stricken by shock and disbelief as like their brother Elijah, neither Klaus, nor Kol, or Rebekah, seemed to remember anything about me looking at me like a stranger and not somebody who had shared his life with them, it was as if all memory of me had been taken from them or perhaps they had just lived such a long and intriguing life since we had last met that I had been entirely forgotten.
I was all but numb by their forgetfulness even though it did make me more curious that not a single memory of my existence was remembered by any of them, no one's lack of memory hurt me more than Elijah's, I could understand Rebekah and Kol not remembering me, God even Klaus, but not Elijah, not after everything he had done for me.
But I was not there to be reunited with old friends nor was I there to look back on the past, no, I was there to get rid of the hollow and then and only then could I investigate their confusing case of amnesia that seemed to only be related to me.
I had each Mikaelson bring a newbie vampire of their own making, four strangers I did not give much thought, nor did I give a damn about their fates, and I ushered the four Mikaelson's to stand in front of their creations, one by one until there was a line of Elijah, Klaus, Kol, and Rebekah, and a line consisting of the four new-born vampires, and then Freya and myself began the spell to extract the hollow from her siblings, putting into the newbie immortal beings, and then proceeded to kill the four vampires, sacrificing them to eliminate the hollow and reunite the original family.
Yes, those four strangers who I and Freya killed could have been complete innocents or they could have been worse monsters than those I was helping but I did not care, I had lived too long a life to be affected by a stranger's death or to cry about spilled blood. I am far from innocent, and I care for only a few so when that few need me, I would wipe out an entire city to help them out.
After all, humans are born to die whereas creatures like myself were born to live forever.
After the deed was done and the hollow was gone, I took myself to the nearest bar I could find so I could drown my sorrows over being forgotten by the only people in the world I thought truly knew me, the closest bar being Rousseau's.
"What can I get you?" Asked the largely too chipper bartender.
"Vodka," I answered him as I sat down at the bar. "Just leave the bottle."
"I guess it's been one of those days!" He responded as he handed me a bottle of their finest vodka. "It's been one of those days for a lot in this city my friends included but hey we almost got a decade of peace, so I guess chaos was long overdue."
"I did not come here to get to know the bartender." I snapped, making it clear he was not about to make a new friend in me.
"No, you came to help aid the Mikaelson family reunion which will more than likely kickstart another war sooner rather than later." He revealed as I realized this man clearly had an ear to the ground when it came to things that went on in his city. "What I want to know is which Mikaelson made a friend out of you my money is not on Klaus maybe Rebekah definitely not Kol."
"Who remembers?" I mumbled with a sense of bitterness as I took a drink from the bottle of vodka. "You must be one of Marcellus' minions' rumor has it he's not too happy about his beloved Rebekah running back to the family that wronged him so many times."
"You know the Mikaelsons and Marcel? I'm nobody's minion unless they get all murderous then I'm anybody's just to stay alive but I'm sure not playing in their games even if my best friend is now married to Kol." He went on to tell me. "My name is Josh and I know you're like the original heretic or whatever but what is your actual name?"
"So, your best friend must be the harvest girl turned super witch Davina Claire, I have heard of her, just like I have heard of Marcel, but I have never met either. As for the Mikaelsons, it seems they have completely forgotten me." I decided to answer him, not knowing why I was divulging any information for some undead bartender. "My name is Salem Helsing, everybody always knows about the legend of me, but they never get my name right."
"Do not tell me you are related to Van Helsing, the prince of darkness' ultimate nemesis? The guy Wolverine from X-Men played in that movie that was criminally underrated?" He questioned me with a sense of excitement, a sense that I knew all too well whenever anybody heard my last name for the first time.
"Dracula's nothing but a myth, a legend, a story, but Van Helsing, he was my father, is my father," I replied, admitting for the first time in a long time who my father was, as I took a bigger drink from my bottle of vodka.
"The Mikaelsons knew the son of Van Helsing himself and yet they do not remember you? Something tells me your memory was either replaced with something almost as awesome as the heretic son of one of the most famous hunters or some witch probably spelled the memories away." Josh said, his words making more sense than any other words I had heard in days. "Wait, so you are telling me Dracula is not real?"
"The only thing I know that my father hunts is me," I admitted to him. "In my entire existence, I have never once been forgotten, feared, loathed, and despised sure, but never forgotten…"
"And that annoys you more than anything doesn't it? Which one of the Mikaelson's were you in love with? Clearly, you're nursing a broken heart here and you would not be the first in this bar to find themselves in need of a drink after a rendezvous with that family." Josh responded all too correctly for my liking.
"You are smarter than you look, Josh," I replied while attempting to change the subject as I stood up from my chair. "Too friendly for my liking and that quality is definitely going to get you killed but I cannot deny my hope you last at least a century or two."
"So, which one?" He asked again, eager for my answer, one I was not willing to give and so instead I just walked out ready to leave this city for good and never look back but fate itself had other plans for me.
I never got far from that bar before Klaus Mikaelson vamp sped his way in front of me within the streets of New Orleans and I recall briefly hoping that at that moment he had remembered me, that they had all remembered me but of course, it was not his memory that made him seek me out but instead of his curiosity or better put paranoia.
"So, what the hell is this newfound freedom going to cost me?" Klaus asked me abruptly. "And do not say it's free because I have heard of your help, and it always comes at great cost.
"You seriously do not remember me?" I replied in complete disbelief, stunned to think he somehow knew of me yet did not remember me. "Am I the biggest fool to think that maybe just maybe our history together would be remembered even if a few centuries passed? God, I dreaded so much about seeing you again, I thought you would hate me, or I'd hate you, or that the past would just remain in the past, but I never thought for a single moment that you would not even remember me!"
"I think all those years not quite being a witch or a vampire has truly warped your mind because neither myself nor my siblings have any recollection of you, and I'd think I would remember someone like you if we had met," Klaus responded making it clear to me once and for all I had been completely forgotten. "However, crazy, or not you helped reunite me with my family and for that, I am in your debt, so name your price, I could pay for your therapy perhaps?"
"I was simply returning a favor for someone I once thought I knew and either way that favor has been returned so we are done here," I told him as I attempted to hide the hurt within my eyes, the pain on my face, and the fact that his words had just broken my non-beating heart.
"Why does this not feel like it's over?" Klaus asked me, as untrusting as he always was as if I could even answer his question when I was beginning to question everything myself.
Before I could conjure up any words for a response to the original hybrid himself, Elijah sped his way onto the street's vampire style and was now standing side by side with his brother.
"Salem Helsing!" Elijah said, surprising me with his greeting, only to surprise me further when he rushed over to hug me tightly. "I remember you now and I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for me and my family."
As if this visit to New Orleans had not surprised me enough just when I was beginning to accept the fact I was nothing to a family I once loved like my own, just when I was giving up all hope, Elijah had miraculously remembered me, and as he continued to hold me tightly in his arms, I realized I was a fool to ever think I meant nothing, at least to Elijah anyway and his arms I began to break down. I cried with such great relief that Elijah had found me again that I had found him, that we had found each other and after all these years he was back in my life, and now he had returned to me, there was no way in hell I was ever going to lose him again!

Not Another Flower to be Picked
Pairing: Dean x reader
Warnings: Language, feeling worthless, pent up anger, angst, slight fluff, a very fierce female main character (yes it's a warning), season 13/14 spoilers.
Word Count: 1881
A/N: Written for @atc74 Fierce Females of Fanfiction Challenge.
She had been living on her own for a long time. She knew how to take care of herself. She could survive days out in the that world and could never be seen. She thought that the camp would make a good temporary home for a while.
She was more in danger there, than she was anywhere. Angels always attacking, always moving, it was a life she couldn't lead. She would still visit though for a while.
A fierce woman who didn't want to stay put. Bobby always called her the flower that was hard to find. If you found it you have luck for all eternity.
The last time she went to the camp was the last time she ever saw that wretched place. For two brothers came and ripped her from its grip.
She didn't mind it though for she had seen the older one before in this world. She had seen him suddenly appear in a orangish warp. She was intrigued by him, so she did what she knew best. She followed wherever he went. She knew how to make herself go unnoticed.
Then the Angels spotted them and all hell broke lose. She was sure he was done for. She knew a recipe to help heal him of his wound.
She slipped the paper to the other man with him. And it worked. Deep down she knew she saved his life, but he would never know.
She knew how she felt towards the man, and she didn't try to hide it either. If you hid your feelings you were a coward. And she made that very clear to him which prompted him into asking her out.
Though the glory of the moment was soon shattered when Michael and Lucifer showed up.
The young Nephilim was able to hold his own with Michael, until Lucifer took his grace and vanished with him and Sam in tow.
Dean was so desperate to save them he did the unthinkable. He let Michael take over. And thus was lost to her for what she was forever.
~*~
"I'm going out I'll be back soon." She called from the entrance stairs.
"Where do you think you're going?" Sam said walking up behind her.
"I told you out."
"Not happening."
"But I..."
"No buts Y/n you know the rules."
"I can take care of myself you know?"
"I get that, but..."
"Do you Sam do you? I have spent my entire life running and fighting things that go bump in the night one tiny nest of vamps aren't gonna kill me. I've taken on dozens of nests at once by myself."
"I get that, but it's far too dangerous to be out on your own. Please just go back to your room or to the library. I need you doing what you do best."
"What I do best is hunting Sam. I know you say you get it but I really don't think you do."
"Please you are no good to us dead, so please just stay in the Bunker?"
"Fine, but only because I know you will never drop it until I do."
"Thank you. I actually have a favor to ask of you."
"What's that?"
"Do more research on the bodies found by that railroad in Ohio. We need more info on them."
"Let me guess, you Mary and Bobby are going to Duluth because it could be a possible lead on Dean?"
"Okay fine yes, but I need you here handling things while I'm gone. Can you do that for me?"
"Fine. On one condition."
"Name it."
"Next hunt no matter what you take me with. One hunt that's all I'm asking for."
"I can do that."
"'Kay I'll call you from the road if there are anymore leads, or anything suspicious."
"Thank you."
"No problem, oh and Sam?" Sam looked over his shoulder acknowledging her, "bring him home if you can."
"I will try my best Y/n."
Sam then gathered the remainder of his stuff and headed towards the garage. Y/n was left alone on for the tenth time since she had been living at the Bunker. She didn't care anymore if she was not following orders. Back in her world the only orders she followed was her own. She needed to take care of the nest ASAP or more people were going to die.
"Where do you think you're going?" Cas sneaked up behind her as she finished packing her duffle.
"Doesn't matter. Something that I need to take care of. Since our fearless leader won't do it."
"I know you don't mean that."
"I do Castiel. I do mean it. Innocent people are dying and I'm going to help them. If you dare call Sam and tell him I left I won't ever come back, and you won't be able to track me done either."
She then ran out of the room and up the stairs leaving the Bunker.
It took her 3 hours to drive, track, and kill the entire nest of vamps. She was proud of herself for she still had it in her. She never let herself get to cocky for that is letting your guard down.
She was back at the Bunker before anyone ever realized she was gone. Or so she hoped.
"Thank god you're alright." Cas said as she entered the Bunker.
"Of course I'm okay why?"
"Because Sam called from the road. Marry, Bobby, and he were tracking down Michael and there were Werewolves waiting for them. The thing is silver didn't kill them."
"Oh great he super freaked these monsters too. That's the last thing I need."
"What do you mean?" Cas looked at me still as confused.
"Michael juices monsters up with the perfect amount of grace. Just enough for them to become more powerful. Back home it was a select few, here it seems like every monster is gonna become that way."
"That's not good."
"No because they become harder to kill. Some even harder to identify."
"Great that is the last thing we need."
"What's the last thing we need?" Sam asked as he walked into the bunker.
"Powered up monsters that are harder to kill, and harder to identify." Cas answered for her.
"Great that is the last thing we need, but I do have a surprise for you Y/n."
"Sam I swear if you got me another freaking Bluetooth headset I'm gonna personally kill you myself."
"No, it's..."
Just then a man in a tux vest, white button up, and black pants walks in the room. Y/n knew this man, and was so thankful to have him back.
"How did you get him back from Michael?"
"Michael let me go sweet heart."
"No, I don't trust it. I don't trust him."
"Don't worry it's me, I promise."
"Okay...whatever you say Deano." She was hesitant though around him. She knew how Michael worked and Michael would just let his vessel walk away.
Dean went to change out of what was left of his tuxedo, while Sam stayed out to question Y/n about her whereabouts.
"So how was research?"
"It was good I didn't find anything suspicious about the bodies, but looks like Michael was behind it."
"Yeah trying to create the perfect weapon for his army apparently."
"That doesn't sound good."
"Yeah it's not. Plus you have already known that had you been around here when I told Cas. So where did you go?"
"You know what I am tired of always sitting on the sidelines waiting to help but never getting to because you are worried about me. Well news flash Winchester. I was doing totally fine on my own with no one but me. I'm sure I could handle a tiny best of vamps, and I did. No back up no nothing."
"You promised me you would stay put."
"I know, but I couldn't just sit around while our fearless leader was chasing something that can't be reality. Dean was gone. I was willing to accept that why couldn't you?"
"Because he's my brother!"
She knew that once Michael had people they were gone. There was no saving them.
"I'm out here. Time to move on." She stated grabbing her duffle from under the table.
"You're going to break his heart."
"It's better than still seeing a monster I stand him to turn into. It will happen Sam. Trust me."
Just like that she was gone. On her own again. She ached from not having Dean by her side, but she couldn't stand to have him dangled in her face. She couldn't show Michael that he was her weakness. She had to stay strong to survive.
~*~
"I told you boys about that girl. She is feisty, but good to have around. She is lucky." Bobby informed them.
"You keep saying that, but where is the luck?" Sam asked not seeing where Bobby was going.
"She is rare. She had never allowed herself to love because of how she has learned to survive on her own. But she isn't to be toyed with either. She may not show it but she is sensitive. One wrong move and she's gone. Without a trace."
"We could track her down though..."
"Good luck with that." A voice rang through the ears of all three of the men.
"Y/n?" Dean looked astonished like he was seeing things.
"Hi ya Deano."
"I thought you were gone forever?"
"Not forever just temporary."
"Good. Are you here to stay?"
"On a few conditions."
"Name 'em."
"I go on hunts more often, I will not be another flower to be picked for my beauty and left to die. I will be wild, difficult to find, and impossible to forget."
"Got it. You have a deal."
"Dean?"
"Sam I lost her once I'm not losing her again. If she wants to go on more hunts let her. I know why you kept her here, but I trust her."
"Fine, but if one thing goes wrong I put my foot down on her going anymore."
"Sam? I know you're scared of losing me, but they me I have been surviving in that world my whole life. Even before Michael took over. I have always been on my own. I know how to fend for myself. If something happens it'll be my fault. I have learned to keep my guard up. Never let it down. I will be careful."
"Fine."
"Another thing, if I had gone out and taken those vamps out. How many do you think there were?"
"Nests can vary, but since you took them on by yourself I'd say maybe five at the most."
Y/n was soon gonna wipe that smile of his face. For what she was about to tell him was gonna make him think twice about whether she can take care of herself.
"15 Sam. I took down 15 vamps by myself. No help. 3 hours total."
"I say we let her take care of herself aye Sammy. That's my girl." Dean said slapping his brother's shoulder then running to his girl and kissing her lips.
"I know I say I don't need a hero but even sometimes a girl needs saving."
"Oh really?"
"Not this one, but nice try Deano."

Corpse bride
Ch. 1
1839 étoile, Europe
“This is annoying Buzz!!” Warp crumbles the newspaper up and threw it across the room. “They won't publish my work but they would publish his?!”
Buzz picks up the paper and opens up to read the latest news.
“‘Best horror writer, Edgar Allan Poe writes his best work yet!’ This means nothing Warp! your a great writer, just need to find the right publishers to do it.”
Warp just glares at him and then sighs. “Buzz as my brother and best friend your support is great but so far nearly all the publishers denied my work.”
Buzz pats his back and smiles. “Come on Warp this doesn't change a thing! You still got your job as a reporter and blacksmith of the town! You're the best!”
“Buzz I want more than this!” Warp looked out through the window, “I want to write stories that make people think, not write about the usual weather or make horseshoes.”
“And you will Warp.” Buzz helps him up and lead him out and down the stairs to the main room. “Look we've been brothers since the orphanage and stood together through every situations. I'm going to help you and get your stories out just be patient.”
Just as Buzz lead him to the dining room, He was pulled away.
“Buzz Zachery Année-lumière! You are supposed to meet your fiance Jessie Belle Campbell and her brother Woodrow.” Their adopted mother Wilhelmina Année-lumière spoke.
Buzz looked to Warp in plea but Warp held his hands up. Just as he was going to turn, their father, Neb was behind him. “Warp you better follow your brother, he may need help. Maybe you can get inspired by this.”
Warp shrugs and follow up behind Buzz.
Mid afternoon
“This is the longest ride.” Buzz stated with dread and distaste.
“Hey you agreed to the arrange marriage.” Warp declared as he was writing out some ideas.
“Now boys do act out now because you will behave when meeting them and I am simply bored.” Their mother stated and noticed Warp has his journal out.
“Any new inspiration dear?” She asked.
Warp looked up and shrug. “Maybe.”
She giggles. “Warp you will be a great writer maybe you just need-”
“Sorry mom but I ain't interested in getting married yet.”
“I was not going to say that yet; I was going to say to get some fresh air.”
Warp chuckles. “Sure you were and besides I don't find any women that catches my eye.” Warp sat back. “I guess I'm meant to stay single.”
“There is always someone for another, you will find her or him.” She spoke.
“For the last time I don't have a thing for men!” Warp glared and the coach stopped.
“Oh we're here!” She stated and gotten off, leaving a dumbfounded and irritated Warp.
Buzz was amazed by the small town and how small and simple it was but amazed that the the townspeople are more dead than ever.
“Very active huh?” Buzz commented to Warp who only gave him his known “really?” face. “We lived in this town for 16 years, it's always been this way.”
“Now behave boys.” Their father stated.
“Sir yes sir.” Both stated.
They made their way to the manor and knocked.
“Now Buzz you need to stand straight! Don't slouch! Why must you shave your wonderful black hair, women swoon for that!”
As she continued to list every single thing, Warp could only smirk but heard the doors opened.
“Ma…?” He said.
“Oh my! Forgive my action. Men will be men.” She giggles.
The butler rolled his eyes, sneered in distaste but moved away.
“I've seen better gestures from a dog.” Their mother commented as the butler glared at her. Warp grins at his mother's witty comeback. She was not like many women but she can pull off anything. He remembers a time she would even get him down from a tree just because he would not come down to meet a girl who was obsessive and crazy or practically took down a wolf to protect him.
‘That was terrifying.’ He thought as he entered in the manor.
He looks up to see a woman adorning a dull red wine dress with a stern glare, probably older than his mother. He turned to see a very short man who looked duller than the town and shared the same despised look.
He could barely hear them talk to each other but the way they acted was as if they were disgusted.
The man gave them a strained and ghastly looking smile that gave uncomfortable chills.
“Hello what a pleasure, welcome to our home.” He said.
Wilhelmina smiles to them but Warp and Buzz knew she was more standing her ground and skeptical of them.
The said woman coughed, catching everyone's attention. “We will be having tea in the west drawing room, please do follow us.”
“Warp, Buzz.”
Both men jumped from their mother's voice.
“Stay out here for a bit but do not break anything.”
Both nodded as she and their father left into the room.
Buzz was the first to let go of the breath he held as Warp laughed.
“Did you see the way mom was to them? She didn't like them!”
“She doesn't care about them Warp, she was more hoping to meet my fiance. They didn't seem bad.”
“Buddy your father in law was more disgusted than happy to meet us and so was the mother in law. Mom was more than ready to pick a fight.”
Before Buzz could comment he stopped to see a piano on the side. He walked towards it as if it was the most beautiful thing in the room.
Warp took a look at the piano. Compared to everything and everyone, this was only vibrant and colorful thing in this whole town despite it's color was black.
“Think they wouldn't mind me playing it?” Buzz asked.
“Go ahead Buzz. This thing is begging to be played and I bet this is just to be here as a display.”
Buzz sat and played the first few keys and continued to play.
Warp smiled remembering this song.
“It takes me back when we were at the orphanage. Remember when we were what 7? This man brought the instruments and one of them was a toy piano. You loved that thing but then misses hag threw it in the fireplace. That was on the same day mom and pops got us.” Warp said as he leans against the piano.
“She told us she was happy to adopt us both.” Buzz spoke as he continued to play. “She got us lessons to continue learning.”
Warp nodded and saw a young lady poking her head on the side of the open doorway near the stairs. Warp nudged his head for her to come down and as shy as she was, she did. Warp saw her coming down quietly but could already see she was a sweet little lady who was just as shy as his brother. ‘She's really perfect for him.’ But just as when his brother was finishing up he was startled by her and stopped.
“I'm so sorry- I didnt -I mean I knew- Why didn't you warn me!” Buzz glared at Warp.
“She was quiet as a mouse.” Warp answered with a smirk.
“You play very beautifully sir. Ah wish ah could play too.”
Both men were stun by her accents but pushed it away. “Why don't you?” Warp asked and got a glare from Buzz.
“Aunty believes it's improper for a lady and since ahm from the west, they say it's a useless trick.”
Warp could already see Buzz was getting head over heels for her but kept quiet. “Why is a cowgirl like you here?”
Jessie blushes and looks down.
“Well we lost our ma and pa years ago so we live with our aunt and uncle.”
They turned to see a tall man about the same height as Warp if a bit taller but was dressed from the old west.
“My names Woodrow but y'all can call me Woody.” The man now Woody smiled and held his hand out. “Must be my brothers in law!” He smiled.
“Yup but Buzzy here is the one tying the knot. I'm Warp.”
“Nice to meet you.” Woody replied and shook his hand.
Buzz was too distracted by Jessie to acknowledge the other's hand.
“So what is it like here for you two?” Warp asked.
“Well it's not bad but Jessie would get harsh lessons in behaviour but I still teach her the needed things from the west.”
Warp nodded and looks to them. “I guess you won't need to worry about her, Buzz is a good man.”
“In what preparate is this? And letting these two talk?!”
The woman glared at them. “Here it is one minute before 5 and you are not at the rehearsal. Come at once!” all followed her and Warp could see the pain in Jessie’s eyes as well in Buzz. ‘This is gonna be ok…’
