what is their favorite shift to work/time of day? 

evening is the preference, but she doesn’t mind the afternoon either. the most social aspects of the job are her favorite, so nisa likes busier shifts, as she genuinely enjoys talking to customers and giving recommendations. she’s probably pretty decent at it, too. high traffic shifts also go by really fast, which nisa also appreciates. she’d rather have customers to sell to than sit around and do nothing while the hours drag on by. however, when she’s on the evening shift she will absolutely be trying to convince whoever’s on shift with her to cut out as close to 8 as possible, cleanup be damned.

who are your muse’s top 3 favorite people to work with? 

SLOANE — one might think that living with sloane and also spending a lot of time with her doing other things would make nisa sick of her, but that is simply not the case! they have some similar tastes in music, and they both have a tendency to slack off by way of just having a little goss. like sloane is literally nisa’s wife. AND she can bum rides off of her.

KC — kc is fun! kc is a sweetie! he plays fun music and dances with nisa when the store’s slow! kc makes work not feel so much like work, mainly because i doubt they do much work, but i digress. they seem to have a similar style at work, so like the customers that come in during their shift love them! their coworkers that have to open the next morning and pick up all their slack from simply not engaging in any of the practical tasks… not so much, but that’s their problem. AND she can bum rides off of him.

WES — wes is just a nice change of pace! he’s smart, he’s capable, and he works hard, which makes a pretty decent coworker for nisa. they have a fun little back and forth, and idk i feel like they could turn their work tasks into little competitions, which is one of the only ways they’re bearable for her. also she dated an ivy league business major, so she’s basically immune to his brand of condescension. AND she can bum rides off of him.

who does your muse not like to work with? 

KEM — given that nisa likes the coworkers who she can kind of bounce off of the best, she doesn’t really like working with kem because like… what are they gonna talk about LMAO.. and, of course, she also has the petty little grudges that she holds against poor kem. he’s one of the least hatable men of all time so she doesn’t curse the scheduling gods or whatever when they have a shift together, she probably just kinda has a little eye roll.

CHASE — chase bounces between straight up ignoring nisa and being a little.. shall we say antagonistic towards her, and those are nisa’s least favorite ways to be interacted with. she doesn’t mind working with him quite as much as she could, because she takes some pleasure in getting under his skin, but still, it’s not fun to have a coworker who acts like you can’t do shit. even when you’re actively leaning into this idea that you don’t do shit. nisa simply does not vibe with this man. 

BLAIR — going strictly on the criteria of being excited to see their names on the schedule together, blair would be one of nisa’s favorite people to work with. bitch may or may not get butterflies at the thought of being around her. that being said, the actual being around her is less ideal. nisa doesn’t really know how to act around her, or what to do, so she just kind of avoids any real interaction, which is the exact opposite of what she wants. but alas that’s where we’re at.

what is in your muse’s locker?

nisa’s locker used to operate as like.. the work equivalent of the top of a dresser. she would throw stuff in there and then forget about it. it’s where nisa’s possessions would go to die. she had multiple lipsticks/lip glosses, a travel size spray bottle AND a roller of her favorite perfume, a brush, like six loose tampons, half a pack of bobby pins, an eyeliner pencil, three packs of gum at varying stages of empty, a lighter, a compact mirror (cracked), two tubes of her favorite mascara, a hat and scarf, three paperbacks (if beale street could talk, play it as it lays, carrie), an extra pair of headphones, loose bills and change, a couple of claw clips, and hm.. three shades of nail polish. she would occasionally forget her whole purse in there if she wasn’t going home after work, which is how she got stolen from. 

after this, nisa stopped keeping anything in her locker. although most of the shit she kept in there was junk no one else would want, nisa got in the habit of keeping it empty so she wouldn’t get so comfortable just leaving it there. it’s where her purse and jacket go, and those leave with her at the end of her shift. if she brings in any of the other stuff, she makes sure it’s in her purse when she leaves!

how does your muse get to work?

she walks! she tried to hack the buses at first, but gave up on that when she realized it was a lost cause. nisa and sloane’s apartment is a bit of a walk, but bitch doesn’t have her license, so what else can she do? that being said, if she has a shift with someone with a car, she will absolutely be begging them for rides.

finally, list the top 3 albums your muse has on rotation during their shift.

tbh calling these a top 3 is kind of misleading… the albums she gravitates towards changes fairly frequently, as her taste is varied and she likes to constantly expand what she listens to. so these are probably more like.. current faves to play at work.

hard core (lil kim) — can we get a rap moment in here? the funk samples, the raunchy lyrics, lil kim’s attitude.. it’s just a grand ole time! idk how much customers or perhaps jennifer would appreciate the lyrics on this thing, but nisa says rip to them but i’m built different. it’s bold, hilarious filth, and she loves it! 

no strings attached (*nsync) — this album dropped on march 21, 2000, so hello let’s celebrate that! nisa is a known boy band fan, and nsync is her favorite, so of course she’s gonna play their new album. also like.. it’s got hit after hit after hit. bye bye bye? it’s gonna be me? i just got paid? IT MAKES ME ILL?? no strings attached? like c’mon… we simply have to stan

off the wall (michael jackson) — nisa’s a big fan of disco/funk for work music just because it’s so much fun to listen to, and this album is kinda a perfect example. like, if you can listen to off the wall and NOT dance.. honestly wtf is wrong with you? it’s fun, it’s upbeat, it’s played slightly less often than thriller, and it’s got her favorite mj song on it (rock with you), so it’s a win.
