See, I actually think that might make this better?
Whatever Starscream’s initial impression of Megatron was in this continuity, it’s practically a given that it can’t last. Yes, he killed Sentinel and rallied the High Guard into the modern Decepticons, but what’s gonna happen when Starscream inevitably wants his job back? He was holding back in his initial fight with D-16—who’s to say he can’t hold his own against Megatron?
(I am aware that this is relying on the massively hypothetical scenario of Starscream winning that fight, but hey, this was supposed to be funny to begin with, not serious—just let me have this.)
You raise a valid point that I hadn’t considered, but I do agree with. I will say that Starscream working for Optimus wasn’t exactly the mental image I was going for? I was leaning more toward the idea of Starscream getting sick of Megatron as a leader, but knowing he is absurdly strong still, and, oh yeah—remembering that he happened to rip in half the last guy who called himself a Prime???
Dropping him off on Optimus’s doorstep would literally just be a two birds, one stone solution—there’s finally some peace and quiet restored to the Decepticons, and the bitter exes over there would have their “one shall stand one shall fall” moment just a little bit sooner.
Either way it would work out for Starscream, so—
Rewatched TFone yesterday and I had a thought.
Optimus told him to take the High Guard with him, but technically, he only banished Megatron, right?
Could the High Guard (and by that I mean Starscream) just show up one day, demand an audience with the Prime, and say “take him back, we don’t want him anymore”?
