Like. Crazy how in the US military service is the only way to guarantee you get healthcare or education or employment services or political consideration, which are things a lot of industrialized nations have for all their citizens. A real fucking shame that we made Starship Troopers in the 90s but after the Iraq War we make shit like Rebel Moon and turned Star Wars into Marvel and and Star Trek into James Bond. Fascism really won the propaganda war. People really believe Iraq was some desert backwater full of illiterate fanatics because they’re too stupid to know it was a thriving urban center for thousands of years until the United States violently deindustrialized it in the Gulf War.

The Summer Fling (Chapter 2) - Dylan O’Brien
Author: @were-cheetah-stiles
Title: “EMo Inlet Beach”
Relationship: Dylan O’Brien x Reader/OFC
Author’s Note: You guys thought I was joking about writing something about me hating that Dylan smokes… never think that I am kidding (except, always assume that I am kidding…). This will be a short series. I’m imposing a limit on myself. Whatever. Don’t read it. It’s dumb. This will likely be the only Dylan shit I ever write. Okay byeeee.
Summary: This is just some fluffy ass bullshit of them getting to know each other more. *shrugs*
Chapter One - Chapter Two - Chapter Three
Tumblr media
You woke up, wrapped up in the blanket from the night before, your hood from your sweatshirt pulled over your head, and the warm, morning sun beginning to beat down on your face. You rubbed the sleep out of the corners of your eyes and glanced at the empty bottle of wine on the ground and the two glasses, with nothing more than red wine stains around the bottom, sitting on the coffee table. Dylan was no where to be found.
You hadn’t heard him get up and you wondered if he had gotten uncomfortable as the night went on and the two of you sat out on the deck alone, drinking and talking and dozing off together on the couch. You sighed and threw your legs over the edge of the couch, ruffled your hair so that it would look presentable, and grabbed the blanket, bottle and glasses.
Dylan, sitting at your dining room table, looked up from his phone when he heard a sliding door open behind him. “Morning….” He felt guilty about leaving you out on the deck, but when he woke up, a half hour before, he couldn’t seem to quiet his thoughts. Britt would be so pissed if she saw me doing this. At least, I’d be pissed if I saw Britt doing this. I can’t believe I’m out here, drinking, flirting, and sleeping with a girl that Julia went to college with. I have no idea what to say to her when she wakes up. I have no idea why I decided to come out here in the first place last night…. Yes, I do. She’s really pretty and sweet and funny and nice to talk to. Oh fuck… fuck… I have to get out of here. So he fled from the couch before you woke up.
“You the only one awake?” You whispered, placing the bottle and glasses in the sink, and glancing over at Dylan. He nodded and stared back at you, his chocolate brown hair was slightly matted on the side, but he was still incredibly handsome. “Have you seen Trixie?” Dylan finally smiled and nodded at you again. Suddenly, you heard a collar jangling under the table. You bent over, glancing between the brown leather chairs, and saw the dog pushing her soft black body into Dylan’s long fingers. You snickered quietly and smiled back at Dylan. “Well, I think she loves you more than me now.”
Dylan smiled a little more confidently and shook his head. “I’m sure that’s not true, I’m just holding her collar so she can’t love anyone else but me….”
You laughed at his dry delivery and then covered your mouth so as not to wake up any of the sleeping bodies around you. Dylan let go of Trixie and she trotted over to her owner. You rubbed behind her ears and kissed her on the top of the head. Your smile took over your whole face as you looked down lovingly at your dog. “Do you wanna go for a walk, Trickle?” You said, your eyes widening in amusement as the black dog’s tail began wagging wildly. You glanced up at Dylan and smiled softly. “Do you want to come take her on a walk with me?”
Dylan nodded and stood up from the table, shoving his phone in his pocket, and followed the beautiful y/h/c and sweet gray dog towards the front door, avoiding all of the sleeping people scattered throughout the house. He watched as you slipped your shoes on by the front door, and crouched down to latch the vibrant red leash to Trixie’s collar. He opened the door and watched as you exhaled deeply at the sudden heat coming through the screen door. You pulled the navy blue sweatshirt that you had on over your head, pulling at the tank top that you had on underneath up over your stomach. Dylan tried not to stare at the bits of skin that were suddenly being revealed to him, but he couldn’t help himself.
“You okay?” You asked, smirking as you caught him staring.
Dylan nodded and opened the screen door. “Ladies first…” He watched as you and Trixie walked out the door and he shook his head, embarrassed that he had been caught.
The anxiety that came with the thought that he had made a fool of himself had Dylan scratching his fingers against the square bulge in his pants pocket that held his pack of cigarettes. He wanted the easy fix and relaxation that came with the simple inhale of tobacco. He walked silently next to you for a few minutes, listening to the short whistles and clicks that you made to keep Trixie from wandering into the bushes or pulling on the leash.
You watched as he rubbed his long fingers against his cheek and chin, a nervous tick that you recognized. It caused one of your own nervous ticks to come out, and you began twirling the skinny silver ring around your middle finger. Dylan glanced over and the corner of his mouth curled up slightly, feeling more comfortable that you were nervous too.
“So, Julia said you were in Vietnam…” Dylan broke the silence and glanced over at you, who smiled at the sound of his voice, finally killing the awkward tension.
You nodded and perked your head up to look at him. “I was in Laos, Cambodia and Thailand for about two months, then I was in Vietnam for about a week but I had to come home early. I was supposed to be there for about a month.”
“That’s incredible. I’ve only seen pictures of those places and they’re beautiful. What were you there for? Work?” Dylan asked, rubbing his fingers into his growing beard.
You shook your head and followed Trixie around a corner, walking down the street towards the beach. “No, I work as a part-time paralegal when I’m actually here in New York. But, uh, I've been traveling a lot in the past year so, I haven't actually nailed down a ‘real’ job."
"What is the 'real job' that you want?" Dylan asked, as you leaned over into the grass to get the gift that Trixie had just left behind.
You tied the baggy up and tossed it in a neighbors trashcan, and continued walking towards the beach at the end of the road. "Teacher, I guess... or at least that's what I thought, but the idea of going back to school to get my Master's basically gives me a panic attack... that might be part of why I've been avoiding all of that with my traveling."
"I didn't love school too much either.."
“Julia said you almost went to Syracuse for journalism or something?"
"Broadcasting." Dylan corrected, watching you take Trixie off the leash when you stepped onto the wet sand.
"Right.. for the Mets?" You grinned. You and Julia used to watch the late parts of the seasons of Mets and Yankees games and yell at each other over which team was better.
"Hell yea. LGM, all day, baby." Dylan smiled wide, and you laughed.
You laughed and shook your head. "So, what about work for you? Are you working on anything while you're out here?" You asked, not wanting him to ask you where your New York baseball loyalties fell.
Dylan sat down in the drier sand up the beach next to you and shook his head, while rubbing his hands together to get the sand off. "No. I just needed a change of pace.. a vacation. I was thinking about taking some projects in New York though. I miss it out here. L.A. can be really superficial and just hard to be in for long periods of time. I love walking around New York too... It’s home, even if I’ve technically lived in California longer. Plus, basically, ninety percent of the time, I can go completely unseen in the city, and don't get me wrong, I love my fans and I love talking to them, but it's also nice being-"
"Anonymous?" You finished his thought.
Dylan nodded and pursed his lips. Trixie ran up to the two of you with a stick in her mouth and dropped it at your feet. You threw it and it barely landed in the water. You were a little embarrassed at how bad of a throwing arm you had. Trixie brought it back and left it at your feet again. "Can I?" Dylan asked and you nodded vigorously, not interested in making yourself look like an idiot again. He chucked the stick and it landed far into the water. The dog went racing off after it. You were impressed by his strength and aim. "How come you had to cut your trip short?"
"Hmm?" You hummed, daydreaming about what else he could do with his muscles.
"You said you had to come home from Vietnam early..."
"Oh, yea, uh.. My grandmother got sick, and I am pretty close with her and I have the most flexible schedule of anyone in my family so I came home."
Dylan's face frowned and he ignored the wet, black dog standing in front of him waiting for him to throw the stick again. "Is she okay?"
You smiled, picked up the stick and tossed it like a frisbee. The aim was even worse and even Trixie looked embarrassed for you. You chuckled at yourself and turned to Dylan. "She's a handful, but she's fine. She had passed out in a parking lot after trying to get her iPad fixed." You snickered and shook your head. "And it turned out she had a heart thing, that they still aren’t sure what it was and she couldn't, and frankly still isn't allowed to, drive anywhere, so I was driving her everywhere and taking her to all of these doctor's appointments and, yea. She's fine... just very sassy and sick of me hovering, I think." You laughed again and pushed your heel into the warm sand in front of you.
"She sounds tough, and you're kind of sassy, so I see where you get it all from." Dylan flashed a quick, but killer smile at you, then quickly changed the subject from his flirty comment. "You said you were housesitting, so do you not live with your parents here?"
You laughed uncomfortably. "You're getting all the deep stories from me this morning."
"I'm sorry, I didn't-"
You shook your head and watched as he tossed the stick even further out into the water. "It's okay, you didn't know." You smiled genuinely and put Dylan back at ease. "My Dad lives here full-time with his... girlfriend, I guess. My Mom, umm, recently moved back to Kansas, where she's from, after their divorce finalized, cause you know, New York is expensive.. so I live with my older sister and her fiancé in Kew Gardens.. in Queens... I mean, at least when I'm here, I do." You shrugged and dug your feet further into the warming sand.
"I'm sorry about your parents.... that's just, the roughest." Dylan felt bad for making you talk about something uncomfortable.
"It's fine. It is what it is, you know?" Dylan nodded and stared at your feet. "What about your parents? How are they doing? I only met them, like twice, I think, but they were really nice."
Dylan smiled and nodded. "They're doing good. I think they miss having me on the West Coast, and it kind of sucks but the week that they're coming out here to visit Jules and I, I'm only going to be here a few of the days because I have work stuff back in California. But yea, they're good."
"What kind of work stuff?" You asked, cocking your head to the side and watching him trace his long fingers in an infinity symbol in the sand between the two of you.
"I have to do San Diego Comic Con for Teen Wolf... although, that's supposed to be a huge secret so..." You covered your mouth with your hands, indicating that his secret was safe with you, and he smiled. "Then I have the first little bit of American Assassin press to do, but then I should be back out here until the middle of August."
You grinned and stared at your clammy hands. You had watched the trailer for American Assassin probably fifty times when it had come out in April because it looked amazing and Dylan looked very grown up and sexy, and you would never admit that out loud but it was suddenly all you could think about. "Sounds like a fun summer.."
"It could be.. If I knew what to do around here. It's different from when I came as a kid." Dylan admitted, as you both began walking back to the house, him now holding Trixie's leash.
"I mean, there is tons.. I could always show you around or give you recommendations, either here or in the city... if you wanted."
Dylan nodded and smiled. "That'd be amazing actually. I’m pretty much stuck out here by myself during the week when Jules and my friends from when I was a kid are at work in the City."
You walked up the stairs and opened the door. People had begun to wake up and walk around the house, mostly seeking water or a phone charger. You spotted Julia and Collette sitting on the couch and waving at you and Dylan as you walked back in. You turned around and watched as Dylan unhooked Trixie's leash. "Um, here, give me your phone."
Dylan looked a little surprised, but fished his phone out of his pocket nonetheless and handed it to you. You typed on it quickly and handed it back. He looked at it and then looked up at you. "Your number?"
"For when you want to hang out and not be stuck at the house by yourself all day." You smiled and Dylan smiled back, clutching his phone in his large, sinewy hands.
"I'll call you."
"I look forward to it." You grinned and blushed back.
"Dyl, you ready to go?" Julia shouted from across the room.
Dylan nodded and looked back at you. "I'll see you."
You nodded and smiled and watched him walk out the door followed by Julia, Collette, their other friends.

A Brotherhood from Innocent Days Gone By
A Brotherhood from Innocent Days Gone By
Apalachicola, Florida
Saturday, May 12, 2018
Clear, 85°
“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
The drive from Tarpon Springs up and around the panhandle of Florida is consistent with the old South in many ways.  There is still the love of country with flags being flown from many houses and yards.  There are the billboards sharing John 3:16 or other bible verses reminding one of the South’s religious views as a God fearing people.  The growth over the last decade from Tarpon Springs to Crystal River was unbelievable.  It is now one continuous community with little open or wooded space common to this part of the state.
Once you left Crystal River on the drive north up to Perry, Florida it was once again back to that familiar pastoral views of farms, trees, and the occasional house.  Those living in the area have a mentality of a simpler time, not in a big hurry or worrying about the world’s problems just happy to be in their own town and its people.  It has a tendency to remind you of the small town values where many of us are from in this country.
There were some flags flying that I was not familiar with so I will look them up for another blog post shortly.  What I found in a quick search did not surprise me and I will share it with you soon.
As you make your way in the big curve leading out onto Florida’s panhandle and back out to the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, one sees the big business of tree harvesting with many old forests ready to be cut down.  There are many newly planted fields as well as trees in various years growth waiting their time to be harvested.  It is nice to see the forest being replanted for future generations without leaving the scars of the opened clear cut lands in view.
There was a quick stop at Mad Anthony’s bar and grill on the water in Panacea, Florida.  Like its name, it is all healing with great seafood, atmosphere with a great view of the boats coming or going out to the Gulf.  It is one of my favorite seafood places to eat in this area.
Driving over the last couple of bridges the sights turn to the beautiful waters of the coast.  The aqua-blue against the vivid light blues combined with the white sands give this area a well-deserved label of beautiful beaches.  The small waves breaking on the sand bars with people fishing or netting in the shallow waters is always fun to see.  The white puffy clouds hanging over the blue/green waters give a great backdrop for all of the fun in the sun activities going on.  We finally arrive on Paradise Lane and find a small slice of it as we are greeted by Gary and his wife Lynn.  Over the years he had invited me several times to stop in while in this part of Florida.
Gary & Lynn
It had not happened until this trip and it was great to finally meet him.  We went to the same high school but Gary was a couple of years older than me.  His sister Morlee was in my class and Gary, like many of us, went into the service out of high school.  He served in SE Asia in that little slice of jungle called Vietnam.
We both served and over the last eight years or so with everyone connecting with old friends on Facebook we had done so on our high school reunion page and became internet friends.  Over those years, we had contacted each other on the telephone, in emails, or through posts on FB and had gotten to know each other through the internet.  We had never had the opportunity to meet in person.  This was a great time to do it.  The travels would take me very close to him.  It was decided to forego a couple of days in New Orleans and stop by Apalachicola for a bit to finally meet, have a meal and see how each of us are doing.
Gary & D.
It’s funny how the brotherhood of men and women that have served in the armed forces look at one another.  There is a bond and it doesn’t matter whether we had met before or not; we all see the world with a slightly different viewpoint as our youth was taken and replaced with a sometimes cynical and hopefully funny outlook on life and living.  This time now is so valuable and precious that wasting it is not in our cards.  We look for things that give pleasure, therapy of sorts, and a broader truth in what life brings to those of us who experienced something extraordinary in our young lives.
I’m sure Lynn had to wonder what to expect having total strangers show up at her home.  Hopefully she saw something pretty special as Gary and I met, talked, and shared time together.  I know for me, spending time with them, eating at their local restaurant, and being driven around showing us the sights of their small town America was fantastic.  You walk in for dinner just before closing and they (staff) did not care, wanted to serve us and did not rush our meal, again showing the Southern hospitality for which we are known.
After dinner and a drive around town seeing all of the mom and pop shops and eateries was wonderful.  There was another surprise as we exited the car on a sultry moonless evening with an ever so slight breeze, a Vietnam Memorial park which was lit up with the “Three Soldiers Monument”.  The focal point of this beautiful park, the Three Soldiers Monument in Apalachicola, Florida, pays honor to the Southern solders who served in Vietnam.
Three Soldiers front view
It was great seeing this at night as the lighting was perfect and I honestly do not think the sun’s rays would have done it justice.  The starkness between shadow and light around the monument was almost haunting.  It left one to walk around the statue seeing how the light both illuminated and played off the monument as you slowly turned to the different sides.  Each had a very different look either full frontal or off to one side.
Side view
To the rear was a dedication marker stone that read:
“The portrayal of the figures is consistent with history.  They wear the uniform and carry the equipment of war: They are young. The contrast between the innocence of their youth and the weapons of war underscores the poignancy of their sacrifice. There is about them the physical contact and sense of unity that bespeaks the bonds of love and sacrifice that is the nature of men at war.  And yet they are each alone.  Their true heroism lies in these bonds of loyalty in the face of their aloneness and their vulnerability.“  (Frederick Hart, September 20, 1982)
Marker
The monument was cast from the original molds of sculptor Frederick Hart's stunning Three Soldiers statue that stands at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.  It was funded by the Frederick Hart estate and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and was cast in 2008.
An informational stone at the monument describes its purpose well: Dedicated this 12th day of July, 2008 in memory of those persons from the South who valiantly served their country during the Vietnam War (1959 - 1975). Their commitment to their country, to freedom and to each other will long be honored by this memorial which represents, for all time, the human face of those who served.
It is a little known fact that nearly one-third of the casualties experienced by the United States during the Vietnam War were suffered by Southerners.  Of the 58,193 men and women estimated by the National Archives to have been killed in Vietnam, a total of 17,831 of them were from the South.
The average age of those killed was only 20 and most died in combat in the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam), although men and women also lost their lives in North Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Communist China.
The original sculpture interacts with the moving black wall of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.  The soldiers in the statue depict American warriors of the Vietnam War era who watch over the wall, standing vigil and paying tribute to the tens of thousands of names listed on it. Sculptor Frederick Hart was born in Atlanta in 1943 and died in Baltimore in 1999. He said once that he believed that art must "touch our lives, our fears and cares - evoke our dreams and give hope to the darkness." The Three Soldiers Monument does just that, as the soldiers appear to be emerging from the darkness into the light. (From: ExploreSouthernHistory.com)
I was deeply moved seeing this in another small American town.  The sacrifices our young men and women have given over our history show what we are made of and the sense of pride to serve our country.
Gary, it was great spending time with you, I’m sorry for cutting it short due to mama’s illness but we will do it again soon.  I think it is time for a little Gulf fishing in my future.  Take care of yourself my friend until the next visit, Traveling Life’s Highways from Apalachicola, Florida.

Dear Crashpad Diary #32
Yoooooo freakin beasts!!
What´s going on back home?? New sends??? Great fun?? Sweet life?? All the options right!!! =)
We´ve been running around and trying to hug the universe more and more down here hehehe
The trip has been fantastic and the good vibes ensure to make it happen the best way ever hehehe
with some funny facts that I´m about to tell yas… I mean… write yas!! haha Like: The crazy 4000 islands in a river / People of Laos / Storms everywhere / if only the storms alerts worked / Dumb and Dumber´s Loop / Loop fail / Restos with no food?? / try not to pay the waterfalls / the gay waterfall / Vang Vieng smelly cat / are we in China??? / Fast and furious / Sleeping at the laundry
haha … =) can’t start the post without a smile and laughs upfront heheheheheheh
Twas nice spending my bday at Phnom Penh… nothing too exciting there indeed… big city and not interesting… but… the party was awesome… we destroyed some ice-cream to commemorate life hahahaha and get some serious sugar rush hehehehe
The day after we got a bus to Laos… went up towards the border following the mekong river… that goes from Cambodia to Thailand, crossing pretty much entirely Laos… and we decided give a shot to a place called 4000 islands… in the middle of the river there are thousands of small, medium and big islands… one prettier than the other… what a place!! We spend few days at one of them called Dondet… a small one with loads of hut and bungalows… a hippie atmosphere and rich nature… It was Laos welcoming us greatly!!
Already in the first days we realised how different are the people from Laos… it seems they don’t give a shit about you… I mean… they care and treat you well… but different than Indians, Cambodians,  Indonesians… they are not curious… they dont bother you asking “where you go?”, “Yes… weed??” hahahah Also… the english is barely spoken in many areas… which brings a whole new experience to the adventure! haha
Donder is quite popular among travellers and it´ll be easy communicating… fairly good internet too… the only problem is… don´t trust the weather forecast hahaha we were there in the middle of a huge… serious… fantastically intense storm… well… you have to consider that tropical rains are pretty common here… but there we were… walking fast under pissing rain… lightening going on pretty much everywhere… loads of thunders… trying to get to a safe place asap… my good old head torch helping us finding the way… so we got to our “muddy street”… “sweet… we will make it without being electrocuted!!” Just after few almost-jogging-steps, the mud took away my flip flops… I stopped and got it back.. running from guesthouse to guesthouse till getting to our place… what a sketchy adventure… =) As soon as we close the door, Luh´s phone connects to the internet and he receives the following message from Accuweather: Alert! Heavy storm in your area!!
Well… thanks!! hahahaha
From Dondet… and pretty energetic after the storm (haha I had to make the joke… sorry!)… we followed th plan of covering Laos from south to north… and the next stop was Paksé! The city is small and there is not much as well.. but what grabs one attention here is the trip you can do around the area… the called Bolaven Loop… which consists in renting a shitty bike and drive through the waterfally roads.. passing by coffee plantations (what a tasty coffee beasts!!), greeny scenery… hills… mountains… dirty roads… almost untouched communities and bridges above rivers. so glad we did it… twas great!! Hats down to Tad Lo… a small town with many waterfalls, great food, awesome people and fantastic atmosphere! =)
The whole thing was so funny!! Imagine that… 200km and we rented a bike for the both of us… an 100cc… it was defo like the Dumb and Dumber version of the Bolaven Loop! hahahaha
But even dumber was a guy that became a legend in the backpackers mythology! It´s all well set… When you rent the bike you get like a prep talk… explaining where you can go and all the tips… the start is in Pakse and the first day is pretty easy… you drive straight… for good 10k and then turn left… going north until you get to Tad Lo… easy right??
Well… not for a guy that for some reason turned right just after the city and drove all the way down to the 4000 islands…. hahahahah even more awkward was the fact that the guy drove like 4 hours until he gets to Dondet and realises that was sth wrong… haha where are the waterfalls?? Someone replaced´em with tons of islands! hahahahahah people are indeed awesome!! hahaha
Everyone has troubles when tripping like that… some go wrong… some get loads of flat tires… loads fall… have the bikes stolen… but we were fortunately good till the very last day… when the universe decided mess up with our food!! we don’t know why none of the restaurants in the last day´s piece, did not have any food… hahahaha serious?? A restaurant without food??? haha we prob went down some pounds that trip… the tiny bike appreciate the restos effort hehehehehe
After those days paying for the waterfalls entrance and parking pretty often, we got kinda cranky with that and decided not to pay anymore… going for only the ones for free… which so far were the nicest ones up there near to Tad Lo… so… the last stop was in a cascade called Tad Yuang.. getting to the gate the girl came with the tickets already… we decided not to pay once again and she got angry at us because we stopped and did not get the tickets she had already taken off… hahaha that was funny!! But the best was just after she started complaining in her language… Luh accelerate towards the waterfall pretending we would get in without paying… when we took off she started screaming and only stopped, quite ashamed, when she realized he was messing with her and got in to turn the bike and go away! hahahah
Another hilarious moment provided by the waterfalls was in Tad Hang… a nice place to hang with friends.. enjoy the small cascades and a big volume of water coming from everywhere… perfect spot to grab a beer and relax… exactly what the locals do! So there we were, getting there through the stairs when I see a weird woman coming towards us as a missile, passed by me and went straight to Luh saying hi and snuggling his arms hahahahah The lady boy locked the target as soon as he/she saw Luh and came attacking in full speed hahahahah twas so funny… Awkward moment hahahaha
With the loop done we got back to Pakse, spent the hottest day ever there… 38ºC with 50ºC real feeling… is it the real feeling of drying off?? hahaha And the day after we took off to Vang Vieng… passing by Vientiane… the days in Vang Vieng were sweet… such a beautiful place full of blue lagoons, caves, beautiful mountains and the Mekong river cutting it in half!
We met the smelliest girl in Laos… she happened to stay in our room and destroyed the atmosphere in it… I know… sometimes travelling you get a bit smelly… but when that happens… you simply take a shower and wash your clothes… and sadly, for the three of us in that room, she did not learn that yet! hahahah I´m laughing but I cried when I opened the door that day… the air was even greener inside the room! hahahahahah Oh well… I used my earplugs as a nose plugs and twas a lovely night!! hahahaha
Vang Vieng is widely known because of the party scene and the famous tubing through the Mekong river´s rapids… which we did and…. man… was the most boring thing ever… there is no rapids… only 2 parts with a maybe 2 mins in total… for the rest of the time you have to paddle and burn in the sun like a doughnuts baking in an oven hahahahahaha was terrible! The only worth thing was a zipline in the very last bar… but other than that…. a big nope!
Anyways…it has been done in the past with people stopping in bars situated along side the river (they were closed because of the accidents and even worse… after some deaths)… nowadays there are only few bars…. which made me think… maybe it has always been boring… but when youre drunk everything gets funnier and people indeed enjoyed that!
Well… I would need loads of alcohol in my bloodstream to get some adrenaline off that boredom!! hahahaha
But the universe worked in our favour that night…and gave us part of the adrenaline we missed from the “doughnuting”! When traveling from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang… we took the first and only fast and furious bus… but, unfortunately, it wasn’t´t fast and all the neon and lights were inside it… and being a sleeping bus… that did not help at all with our sleep hahahahahah
In addition… we could not believe when they, around 1am, woke everyone up and asked to leave the bus… twas in the middle of nowhere… extremely misty or dusty (couldn’t quite understand)… they needed to get the bus lighter in order to get it uphill through that dirty road… ahahahaha something that only happens in Laos hahahahha
We got to Luang Prabang wrecked… at 4 am…. and the world is so cool and full of good vibes that we arrived to the hostel… asked if they had any place that we could crash and they gave us a bed in their laundry as they did not have any rooms available hahaha we got a really god “morning” of sleep among duvets… bedsheets and pillow hahahaha twas great and smelled fucking good!! hahahah in your face smelly girl from Vang Vieng!! hahahaha
And here we are right now… the probable last stop in Laos before getting to our beloved Thailand… enjoying the good food… the chill atmosphere and laid back way of Laotian life!
Hope you guys had some fun with the post and sorry for the lack of updates lately… I´m not writing often but I´m sending fantastic vibes towards each one of yas! =)
Oh… and after 4 months without climbing, I´m only one month away from my trains and the sweet seshs with the beasts back home!! can’t wait!
Great vibes and huge smiles from Laos!!
Cheers,
Evan
