REBLOG IF YOU ENJOYED

It had been snowing in Seoul for almost a week and a thick layer of snow was washing the entire university football field, there were lots of snowmen and some snow angels formed by the shapes of the boys who had jumped to the ground and moving they had formed forms that looked like little angels, Y/n loved everything that represented winter and would dream of spending time as did all the boys of his age going shopping for Christmas markets, playing under the snow, make snow angels and who can also give his first kiss under a romantic snowstorm but being conspicuously shy and always full of the study had never experienced these things but maybe an angel human to how popular with the obsession for lego, music, and physics would have expressed some of his desires...
Seoul University had decorated the entire inner hall leading to the various classrooms with countless Christmas decorations. Still, one thing that made students smile and excited was a small Christmas house in the middle of the large entrance with a small chair inside, a table, and a stack of sheets with all the names of the students in that department and a couple of young adults dressed as elves who had to mate at their leisure couples who according to them should know each other and make each other wish person had written in that little sheet of Christmas requests.
"Y/n stop getting paranoid for nothing, you just have to write in the note 4 wishes or things that you would like to do with this hypothetical person during December, i recommend you also add your ig ame or your number, but maybe it’s better your name ig and in a week we will find out if this person will write to you because meanwhile i already know that even if they sent the letter of the other guy you would never write"
"Why should i ever choose the male option, you know that i'm shy, especially with males i would like to make friends first, of course, i have you and Sunaa but i would love" Do not stop talking that a boy dressed as elf called you to enter the house.
"Y/n in the option you choose that the letter receives a guy, you can start making friends even of the opposite sex" your best screamed and made the sign of two thumbs up and started waiting for you outside the long line.
The house was decorated with Christmas stuff and light music coming from the speakers with a shy smile you greeted the two boys and the girl put the sheet, of Christmas paper covered with little snowflakes, and at the top, you could circle 2 options send this sheet to a boy or a girl and felt your heart beat too fast for your taste but maybe your best friend was right and you had to leave a little bit from your comfort zone and start doing "friendship" with some guy so you chose the option that the letter could receive only one guy. In the center you had to write 4 things that you wanted to do at that time with that person and then write because you chose to participate, you wrote all your requests and finally, you wrote your full name, your email, and in the contact section your instagram name and if you were part of some club so the person receiving the letter had some options on how they could look for you, and you wrote that you were in the radio club of the economics and mathematics department.
Inside the radio booth, you looked at the big windows that looked out on the big football field, there were a lot of people taking pictures or running and throwing snowballs, you would have wanted to be out there too but you had to spend another half hour in the heat and look at the schedule but when you saw that you had to announce that within a few minutes, everyone would be acquainted with who would make a couple slight anxiety your body.
You didn’t talk a lot on the radio because you hated how your voice sounded but at that hour you were alone because almost all the other students who were part of the club had class so you pressed the green button and when the song ended you took the long microphone and spoke to all students.
"Good morning to all the students of the Department of Economics and Mathematics, how are you? Don’t tell me you forgot what day it is because in exactly 55 seconds you will find out who you were paired with for the project put into place "Spend your Christmas holidays with a new friend", now to break the ice a little and not to make you feel how anxious or shy to write to your future partner i play one of the most beautiful Christmas songs as well as Last Christmas by George Michael."
You pressed the red button and leaned on the swivel chair and a long breath came out of your lips but your anxiety became even greater when you saw in the WhatsApp group that everyone had received the email, you didn’t dare to open it but you were too curious to know that you wanted the guy you had been "paired" with so when you read the first point you looked at your phone with an interrogative look, what it meant that the boy who had written the requests wanted to have for his Christmas holidays a fake girlfriend because he was tired of hearing his family say that he was a fratboy and that in 22 years he had never brought with him a girl only because they did they think he was not capable of a serious relationship?
You slammed the boy’s profile and your mouth opened slightly in astonishment when you saw to whom that profile belonged, it was simply a bad joke of fate, it couldn’t be true that you were acclimated to Jake Sim and one of the most popular guys on campus and in your department. With what sense they thought to pair you with one of the most shy, sweet girls, with all the votes awarded to a frat boy who had taken the scholarship only for his football skills, every time you saw him with his group of friends he always had some different girl. To your bad luck, he read your wish request and you did not know if it was him that loser to ask people disguised as an elf to find them a fake girl with whom to spend the Christmas holidays or if you were the loser who attended and wrote that you wanted to give your first kiss under the snow or walk with a stranger in the Christmas markets.
You, your best friend and Sunaa were going out in front of the sports field to see live the multiple snowmen and some had strange shapes of animals instead of others had even jerseys of the football team of the university, you loved to see how all the people thanks to little ice flakes all became slightly more good and romantic with everyone, you leaned down for a moment to take pictures so that you could post them on the radio profile but after a few seconds, you heard a snowball hit your head and slightly annoyed and surprised you saw that it had been thrown by one of the two guys who were just steps away from you.
One of the two was slightly taller than the other guy and besides being dressed as a Michelin man for the too-cold he also had a black balaclava that covered almost all his face apart from some dark hair tufts that came out you could not understand who was but instead the boy with white jacket slightly untied on the neck, with the softest hair you ever saw and that little smile he had thanks to his lips slightly fat but cracked from the cold you knew who they belonged to, Jake Sim as well as the guy who received your letter and you his written in 4 points that he was looking for a fake girlfriend and that would make it possible any wish had expressed his "companion" if she had spent the holidays with him in the mountains and his family. You looked where your friends had gone and were slightly away from you but you tried in every way to reach them accelerating the pace but with the white icy cover you had to be careful not to fall. You felt your name shouting slightly and you knew who belonged to that voice even though you had hardly ever spoken to him in person, You wanted to be teleported across the city or invisible to his eyes but when you saw him in front of you you understood why most of the girls they had a crush on him and why they would all want to go out with him.
"Hey, you’re Y/n, right? The girl who works at the university radio station and publishes every week in the blog and profile of the university the ranking with the most beautiful songs of the week, every week i can’t wait to read the chart and i can say that you have great taste in music because we have a lot of songs in the playlist in common" Did you look slightly surprised Jake, how he could be so expansive and not embarrassed to have to talk to a stranger?
"Um, yes i'm Y/n, i’m glad you like the songs that i suggest to make people listen to" You bowed slightly and tried to leave but he was faster than you and put himself in front of your body not to let him escape from it but also the wind blew a little too much and wanted not to see you with all the snow in your face.
"Sorry i threw that ball at you, i didn’t know you were the girl they’d put me in a relationship with or i would have looked for you on the radio" was the dumbest lie he’d come up with in months, Knew who you were too well but didn’t know how to come and talk to you without looking like a loser.
"Anyway in your Christmas wishlist it was written that you wanted to be kissed under the snow, can i kiss you y/n? So we can already tick off your list!"
You looked at yourself with a slightly surprised look Jake, how you should have kissed a stranger, and with what bluntness asked you, you knew that Jake was very famous with the girls but you did not think he had a big ego.
"Thank you for the offer Jake but i don’t kiss a stranger without even knowing him and if i have to be honest i would like to kiss a guy that i like both characteristics and not only physically"
"So you’re telling me that you find me attractive? I would do anything to have you in front of my family during the Christmas holidays."
You immediately raised your eyes when you felt that pet name, god was the essence of the classic alpha sports boy with 0 interests apart from football and himself.
"Jake? That’s your name, right? Maybe those disguised elves have made a mistake to match us, you and I have nothing in common and perhaps it is better to change the request and ask if we give 2 different partners to do this "project". You and me are part of two different worlds and honestly, i would not even trust to spend the Christmas holidays with a stranger, i would come in person to tell you at the training that you have in a few" Jake felt slightly sick at Y/n’s words, he knew it was a strange request but 99% of the girls would say yes to spending 5 days in a luxury hotel in the middle of the mountains with him and his family but not the girl in front of him.
"We can start again if i made a bad impression with my "clown" ways but i try in every way to make people feel comfortable with my jokes or with my slightly playful character, i’m Jake and i know you might have preferred to be in a couple i don’t know with Sunghoon who is much more shy and confident than if but if those two elves put "couple" they will think that maybe we are perfect for this mission"
Or maybe you had paid that evil elf Niki to put you in a pair with the girl with wavy hair covered with light snowflakes, but no one would have found out, right?
You saw Jake bend over the snow and a puppy look looked at you for endless seconds until i took his hands with yours and made him stand from that surreal moment, god you just wanted to know someone to be more sociable and less shy but you would never have expected to make "couple" with Jake.
"I’m not sure, you and i don't know each other at all, and, repeat i do not trust so much even myself so think if i could come on holiday with you and pretend to be together, it would be impossible they would discover Jake immediately."
"Exactly five days to 24 December the day of departure, on your list it says you’d like to make cookies with the elven boy so i could come to your house tomorrow after practice and try to make those sugar loaf cookies and we could get to know each other better,i read that you are shy with guys so with me you may have already checked something off your list, i could make you less tense and shy with guys while we’re almost all the same. What do you say?"
The wheels in your brain were processing all the proposals that Jake was telling you, what could be wrong? You just have to make some cookies together and spend an hour together in your shared apartment with your friends, you certainly wouldn’t be all alone and maybe Jake was right being with him you would defeat your social anxiety by being in contact with a guy.
"Okay, it might not be a bad idea to make cookies with you, and at the same time we could get to know each other, but if i don’t feel comfortable you’ll have to find someone else to spend your holidays with on the mountains."
You felt Jake’s strong arms hold you for a few seconds around his body and a slight hint of vanilla and honey invaded you, you were petrified because you did not love physical contact with people so you gave two small blows on the back of the Australian boy and when he detached from you the smiles.
"Send me the address of your apartment, i’ll leave training for 17 so by that time i should be able to come to you"
Anuists and you saw him running inside the gym, in what trouble had you got?
The whole apartment was lit by a flared light coming from the kitchen and in the background you had put a Christmas playlist, when your friends had discovered that the guy with whom you were paired was Jake had flipped out like fans at a concert. They had also thought about how many days you would kiss and how long you would fall in love with him, but this was not at all on your list of goals and to your bad luck they left you alone because you had to deal with your "anxiety" To be in contact with a boy of the opposite sex. You were encouraged to accept Jake’s offer to spend five days in a luxury hotel with him but before you accepted you had to be sure that he didn’t have any weird feelings, that he wasn’t a serial killer, and that you felt comfortable with him, You had definitely stalked him on social media and asked around about him and everyone gave the same answer.
Jake emanated 100% the vibes of golden retriever boy and by the way he also has one and is a female named Layla, loves football and to your great surprise he had not won any sports scholarship but managed to get into university and the football team thanks to his good grades and brilliant football talent, You thought he didn’t care about studying but never judge a book by the cover because he was seriously a nerd if you talked about math but especially physics, he could speak two languages perfectly and had a lot of friends.
It all seemed too perfect, how did he not have any reservations to the eyes of other people? or maybe you had to know what secrets were hidden under that facade of good boy and if maybe it was seriously all true what people said about him?
You heard the bell ring and when you opened the door a Jake with slightly damp hair and scrunched smiled at you from the door, he was wearing glasses that made him too attractive for your taste and when he took off his jacket he had a sweatshirt that perfectly wrapped his body and a gray pants suit slightly over.
"Hey, i got you some Christmas Edition sugar decorations to put on top of your freshly baked cookies. Cabbage has been snowing for 10 days that keeps snowing i seriously need to go back to Australia in the heat if it still snows and tumi in the pool or at the beach" he winked at you and came into your house as if he had already come a million times.
"Where in Australia are you from? My roommate comes from the Golden Coast and every time she shows us the pictures we fantasize about going there one day".
"I was born in Korea but i lived a lot of years in Brisbane and it’s like my second home, one day i’ll take you there if you want it"
In what way did he want to bring it to Australia? But what problems did this boy have, first he asked you to go to the mountains with him and be his fake girlfriend and then he pretended to go with him to Australia.
"I understand why you’re a heart-stealer Jake, you fool i don’t know how many girls with your impossible promises, maybe this is one of your red flags. You know i asked around about you and everyone told me that you are a golden boy, full of friends, a scholar and who loves sports, nobody has ever spoken badly to me about you, how is this possible?
You saw Jake getting too close for your taste and he trapped you without realizing it in the space near the sink, his dark eyes were studying you and a grin formed on his lips.
"Don’t tell me that the sweet and shy Y/n tried to find out something shady about me only because you can not admit that in this world there may still exist "normal" guys with passions, scholars, full of friends. As long as you try to find out something about me by asking others you will only waste time because i have nothing to hide, i thought you were smarter, if you want to find out something about me the only way is to spend time together!" He winked at you again and started pouring all the ingredients for the cookies into the big bowl, you were slightly irritated by his presence and didn’t understand how they had chosen to pair you with such a guy.
When you put the cookies in the oven a slight sense of embarrassment crept into the room, you leaned on the couch that you had in common and Jake finally put himself at a suitable distance where you could not always feel your heart go fast.
"Excuse me for earlier perhaps i was slightly mean to you and did not want to be at all, In fact, i never behaved like this with anyone just literally took me to the waster with this request to be your fake girlfriend during the Christmas holidays with your family. I would like to be the most honest with you, maybe this is too much for me also because i have 0 experience with guys and see how i behaved with you so think if I ever find myself alone with you and your family pretending to be something."
Jake was surprised by how much you had talked in those 2 minutes of pure embarrassment between you and him, He didn’t think at all that you had ever done anything with any guy because you were really beautiful and he couldn’t do it but these thoughts could make them in another moment now he had to make you understand that you were perfect to be his "fake girl" for those few days and then who knows maybe to be his girlfriend?
Jake approached slightly to Y/n and watched her get farther away from him but the couch was not so long so she stopped and Jake was a few inches away.
"You don’t have to be ashamed of not having any experience with someone, maybe you should just be more yourself with people and let them know what you like or don’t like and I would like to have this chance Y/n"
Jake was the exact opposite of you and you knew that this for him was only "fiction" and he did so only because he wanted at all costs to have someone to take on vacation with him but maybe thanks to him you could defeat that shy part of yourself?
"I don’t know how to explain it but with you, I feel slightly at ease. Maybe it’s because everyone talks about you and you are very talkative with everyone and you try in all ways to make people feel good..." you did not dare to look him in the face because he already had a big ego and with these statements of yours would be even smugger, a small smile made its way through Jake’s lips and he put more comfortable on the sofa.
"Uh, the shy girl who’s afraid to date a guy is seriously telling me that maybe the only one not making her feel uncomfortable?"
gave you a little push on your shoulder and gave you a slight
"Oh my God, i can’t believe you smiled at me, today i have to write in the calendar that Y/n made me a real smile and you laughed at one of my bad jokes."
"Jake seriously stop i gave you a compliment not to expect more this evening and not in the next days"
"In what sense in the next days Y/n? Don’t tell me that my charm has already enchanted you and that you can’t wait to spend time with me in the mountains together like two lovebirds?"
"I haven’t decided yet if i should go with you or not, but i repeat i don’t feel so uncomfortable being with you but being your fake girlfriend. If i should come i should always be next to you and of course, we should kiss, embrace, share the bed, touch each other in front of your family, shake hands when we are together and
Jake had not seriously thought about this point when he wrote that strange request to have a fake girlfriend for his Christmas days in the mountains, but today’s relationships were how physical and he had a serious problem and loved to hug everyone and if he was engaged would not leave even a second his girlfriend alone without putting his hand somewhere and to make everyone understand that it was his and of no other.
Jake took your hands and looked at you smiling "Calm down y/n, all these things you would have done at least once in your life except kiss someone but that won’t be a problem. On your list it says you’d like to be kissed under the snow, right? If you come i’ll kiss you under the snow but first we have to figure out if you’d touch it you wouldn’t mind, i love hugging people and being pampered so now we could do some kind of test, what do you say?"
Why did Jake behave like this? You couldn’t stand it because he looked like the perfect guy that everyone knew, i nodded my head but Jake looked at you asking
"Sweetheart you don’t have to be shy with me, use words and tell me if i can hug you?" When you heard that nickname you looked up and said yes And how yesterday a hint of vanilla and laundry invaded all and felt the big hands of Jake in your hips and some locks did you a light sunny when you felt the head of Jake leaning on your neck "You smell good, Sweetheart" little chills creep in and you clench your arms around her back a bit more "you also know how good Jake but stop calling me Sweetheart is embarrassing!" , after a while Jake broke away from you and to your great surprise you felt that you already missed his weak touch in your body but this feeling lasted little when he made you lie down and lean on a big cushion in the sofa and he put himself next to you, but for your bad luck or luck the sofa was not very big so it was attached to you and you looked at him slightly embarrassed but you trusted him even if you did not know him so much.
"If you come to the mountains with me i should call you by a nickname or my relatives would get suspicious and then know that i love to hug everyone so Sweetheart suits you, Y/n"
Jake looked at you with his face tilted and wanted to tell you the truth but no one would know that he had wanted you as "companion" of this project and it was not those elves or fate to put you with him
"Surely i would have read some romance books and there is the trope Grumpy x Sunshine and we represent it but i know that under that shyness there is a girl who knows how to have fun, full of hobbies and who loves her friends so do not make any problems with me"
Jake came even closer to your face and you looked at his lips but you knew he would not kiss you because if you wanted to have his kiss you had to go to the mountains with him but felt his fleshy lips give you a light kiss in the forehead and like an oven screamed and Jake got up from the couch and signaled you to follow him into the kitchen.
Christmas vacation
December 24th had arrived too early and you were not at all ready to spend almost 5 days with Jake, you had texted him every day and he even accompanied you to buy a ski suit, you found out he could ski and snowboard but you preferred skating but to make him happy you promised that you would go skiing with him. You even bought him a present, In his list it was written that he would love to spend hours building lego and he loved to collect soccer jerseys especially if they were vintage so you gave him a set of legos and a football jersey from Manchester United vintage.
He wrote you that he would pick you up and that it was close to your apartment so you went out and your roommates gave you their blessings and were super happy to see you less shy especially if that guy you were going with on vacation was Jake Sim, a modern SUV stopped in front of you and Jak when he got out of the car always had those glasses that gave him an air of fake nerd, the classic jacket Prada but in the black version and jeans washed that tied his legs.
She bowed to your roommates and when she saw you smiled at you gave you a light kiss on the cheek and signaled you to get in the car.
What have you gotten yourself into? Until 10 days ago you had hardly ever talked to him except for the times he came on the radio to talk about the games and now you found yourself in the car with him going to spend your holidays in a luxury hotel like his supposed girlfriend, But the problem was that you were his fake girlfriend, not his real girlfriend and a little sense of jealousy and anxiety got in your thoughts.
You watched Jake drive carefully, and he was really attractive. With his big venous hands, he turned the car’s baluster very easily, and you could always hear him singing any song you put on the radio. A slight smile crept into your lips, and Jake looked at you curious. "Why are you smiling? Don't tell me that my presence makes you happy because you will have to bear with me for almost five days."
"I laugh because any song i put you are a piece or whistle it as if i knew by heart is not that you stalked me the Spotify account? how does a guy like all a little frat boy of the university know Smooth Operator and the discography of Sade or know some songs of Frank Ocean"
"Sweetheart what i told you when we first met at the football field that i wait every week for your music chart and every time thanks to you, i download new songs, i like the songs that you listen to and suggest because they are all of the different genres" smiles and Jake continued to focus on the snowy road, had passed almost two hours and the destination was getting closer and closer, You pulled your hands into the sleeves of your sweater so that Jake wouldn’t see that you were agitated and wanted to bite your nails but like a hawk, Jake watched every move you made and knew you were slightly agitating when you no longer sang with him.
"Hey everything will be fine, you just be yourself as you were for these days when we went out, for it will already be a shock to see me with a girl that will leave us a lot of time together and i promise you that i will never leave you alone with my aunt chatterbox" When you got out of the car in front of you there was a huge hotel in wooden style decorated with lots of lights and the air of the mountain and the fireplaces made you forget what situation you had gotten into, you heard a dog bark and Jake ran immediately to hug his little dog, Layla.
You watched his family come against Jake and when their eyes moved from the tender scene of Jake with his dog to you, a redheaded girl gave out a slight cry and Jake’s mom gave you a big smile
"Oh my god after 22 years maybe our Jackie has put his head on and brought us his girlfriend" the girl with red hair who was her cousin approached you and embraced you warmly.
Why did everyone in this family love hugs so much?
<<Why didn’t you tell us that you were bringing your girlfriend? we would have arranged differently and proposed to do things of girls like going to the Spa or relax in the pool>> Jake’s mother looked at you attentively and Jake put an arm around your side and carried you warmly near itself.
"I didn’t tell you because i wanted to surprise you and then these things i would do with Y/n, in Seoul we haven’t yet had the chance to spend a lot of time together with lessons, radio club and my football training"
the two women embraced you and let you into the hotel to meet the whole family were all nice, cute, warm and funny with you and you absolutely wanted to pretend and tell lies all the time but was this the purpose of this trip right? Show the loving side of Jake with a girl and pretend he was not a womanizer in the eyes of his family and then back to Seoul you would come back as strangers like before...
When you entered the room with Jake a slight whistle came out of your lips when you saw the landscape of the snowy mountains in front of you and in the ridges there was a light pink sky, you felt your heart beat madly from how beautiful that moment was. Before i went in i didn’t really notice the room to see the scenery but you and Jake were both looking at each other when you saw that there was only a double bed and an exposed bathroom, but Jake showed you that the glass would go dark so you could have your privacy. The dinner with his relatives passed quickly and went all smooth, at 23:55 you were all outside the hotel with candles in hand to wait for the crack of midnight and to wish you all together, Your family was on the other side of the world so you could wish them well after 8 hours because of jet-lag, Jake’s warm hands were making little circles inside his pocket and smiled when he saw you laughing with his cousin, would not have asked for better in that letter for the university’s Christmas project.
At midnight everyone started singing Christmas carols and wishing each other a happy birthday under the snow and gave that even more romantic touch to the sound of the bells coming from the church on top of the mountain.
"Come I’ll show you a thing y/n" You followed Jake and in front of you there was a tree drawn on the snow made of wood and full of Christmas lights, you watched Jake smile at you and pulled out his tongue to eat some snowflakes, He nodded and laughed at how icy the snow was in the palate of his tongue. You tried it and laughed because of the funny face you made for the cold contact "I never thought to celebrate a Christmas in the mountains in Korea especially with you Jake" saw that he approached you and felt the hand slightly warm in contact with your face and little brvidi invades you, your mind thought they were perceived by the cold but your heart knew that those chills had been perceived by the touch of Jake, you looked at your lips a few centimerti from your mouth and thought that finally he would kiss you but he pushed you slightly and you fell embraced over the snow cover and Jake started to laugh because it was above you and if someone saw you so he would immediately Thought wrong but also because you had a questioning and red look from embarrassment, At this point Jake knew you wanted his lips in contact with hers so he smashed his slightly cracked lips into yours and started a slow kiss dance,he caressed your cheek and you without thinking took the hood from its thick hair and pulled him close to you and when you opened her lips let in his tongue and a light moan came out of your lips, had seriously fulfilled your desire number 1 in the list but you did not know that that kiss had triggered in you numerous butterflies in the stomach and your heart beat very strong when finished the kiss gave you a light kiss in the forehead and lay down near you and began Laughing like children when you saw your snow angels of your shapes to how strange but both you and Jake photographed those angels. Who knows maybe thanks to a letter written with a thousand anxiety two people so different but so close in time would fall in love
❄️ I hope you like it❄️

The small music room at the edge of the middle school was a hidden corner where Jihoon often escaped. It wasn’t because he was shy—though he wasn’t the loudest kid in the class—but because he liked the calmness. Playing the piano, even just practicing scales, was his way of unwinding.
One afternoon, as he pushed the door open, he paused. Someone was already there.
It was Y/N.
She sat on the wobbly piano bench, poking at the keys in a rhythm that sounded more like an experiment than a song. Her uniform sleeves were rolled up, her bag on the floor, and her focus entirely on the instrument. Jihoon recognized her immediately—she was a year ahead, a popular "noona" everyone seemed to know.
“Noona?” Jihoon said hesitantly.
Y/N turned, surprised. “Oh! I didn’t know anyone else came here.”
Y/N tilted her head, “You know, I’ve seen you around. You’re Jihoon, right? The guy who’s always with his guitar.”
He nodded, surprised she even remembered his name. “Yeah… That’s me.”
Jihoon hesitated. “It’s usually empty.” He stepped inside, looking at her curiously. “Do you play?”
“Not really,” Y/N admitted with a small laugh. “I just wanted to try it. But…” She pressed a few keys randomly. “I don’t think I’m any good.”
Jihoon moved closer, his fingers twitching with the urge to correct her posture. “You’re pressing too hard,” he said. “Here.”
Without waiting for permission, he leaned down slightly, guiding her fingers to the correct placement. Y/N followed his instruction, her brow furrowed in concentration.
“Like this?” she asked.
Jihoon nodded. “Yeah, noona. That’s better.”
She grinned at him. “You’re good at this, Jihoon. Do you come here often?”
“Almost every day,” he said quietly, still a bit shy under her bright gaze.
“Then maybe you can teach me?” she asked, her voice teasing but warm.
He blinked, caught off guard. “Uh... if you want.”
A few weeks later, Jihoon was standing on the baseball field, glove in hand.
Jihoon caught a glimpse of Y/N standing near the sidelines. She wasn’t supposed to be there—it was a middle school practice, after all—but she was watching him, waving with a wide smile.
“Noona’s here?” Jihoon muttered under his breath, feeling his heart skip a beat.
“Let’s go, Jihoon!” Y/N called, cupping her hands around her mouth. “Show them what you’ve got!”
The teasing tone in her voice made him blush, with her watching, he couldn’t afford to mess up.
The game was intense, and Jihoon did his best to focus, blocking out the awkward feeling of Y/N watching him. He managed to catch the ball each time, despite his initial hesitation.
When practice ended, Jihoon walked over to her, brushing dirt off his uniform. “What are you doing here, noona?”
“I was curious,” she said with a shrug. “And I wanted to see you play.”
“Me?” Jihoon asked, surprised.
“Well, yeah. I didn’t know you were this good at baseball too.” Her grin was wide and sincere.
Jihoon scratched the back of his neck, feeling warmth creep up his face. “I’m not that good...”
“You are,” Y/N said, leaning forward slightly. “You just don’t give yourself enough credit.”
That evening, as Jihoon walked home, he couldn’t stop replaying the sound of her laughter and the way she’d called his name from the sidelines. For a boy who kept most things to himself, her presence was like a bright light in his quiet world.
And though he wouldn’t say it out loud, he hoped Y/N would show up again—at the piano, at the field, or anywhere else he could catch her smile.
A few days after the baseball game, Jihoon returned to the music room after school. He expected the usual silence, but when he opened the door, Y/N was already there. She sat on the piano bench, her fingers lightly brushing the keys, as if she were waiting for him.
“Noona,” Jihoon said, surprised. “You’re here again?”
Y/N looked up, her smile brightening the room. “Of course! I figured my teacher might show up, so I didn’t want to miss the chance to learn.”
Jihoon flushed. “I’m not your teacher…”
“Sure you are,” she teased, patting the bench beside her. “Come on. Show me something new.”
He hesitated before sitting down, careful to leave a bit of space between them. “Did you practice what I showed you last time?”
Y/N nodded enthusiastically, though the sheepish look on her face told him otherwise. “Kind of? But I think I need a lot more practice. You’re way better at this.”
Jihoon chuckled softly, shaking his head. “Okay, noona. Let’s try again.”
As he guided her through the basics, he couldn’t help but notice how close they were. Her laughter filled the room whenever she hit the wrong key, and her determination to get it right made him smile. She wasn’t like anyone he’d met before—confident yet patient, teasing yet kind.
A week later, Y/N showed up at another one of Jihoon’s baseball practices.
“Are you going to be at every game now?” Jihoon asked as he approached her during a water break.
“Maybe,” she said with a playful shrug. “I like watching you play. It’s fun seeing you so focused.”
Jihoon rolled his eyes but couldn’t hide the small smile tugging at his lips. “Noona, you’re embarrassing me.”
“That’s my job,” Y/N said, grinning.
Jihoon glanced at his teammates, who were watching the interaction with curious smirks. He could already hear the teasing they’d throw at him later, but for some reason, he didn’t mind.
“Fine,” Jihoon said, trying to sound nonchalant. “But don’t cheer too loud next time.”
“No promises,” she replied, sticking out her tongue.
As spring turned into summer, Y/N and Jihoon began spending more time together. She would wait for him after practice, chatting about her day as they walked home. Sometimes, they stopped by the corner store to share ice cream, sitting on the curb as the sun dipped below the horizon.
One evening, after a particularly long practice, Jihoon and Y/N sat on the school steps, watching the sky turn shades of orange and pink.
“Jihoon,” Y/N said suddenly, her voice softer than usual.
“Hmm?” he murmured, resting his chin on his knees.
“Do you ever think about what you want to do when you grow up?”
He thought for a moment. “I don’t know. Maybe something with music. Or baseball. I haven’t really decided.”
She smiled, tilting her head to look at him. “I think you’ll be great at whatever you choose. You’re the kind of person who works hard for what they want.”
Jihoon turned his head, surprised by her words. “You really think so?”
“Of course,” she said, bumping his shoulder lightly with hers. “You’re pretty amazing, Jihoon.”
His face grew warm, and he looked away, unable to meet her gaze. “Thanks, noona.”
As they sat there in the fading light, Jihoon realized something: he didn’t just enjoy spending time with Y/N—he looked forward to it. Her presence made the quiet moments brighter and the loud ones more bearable.
Summer break had arrived, and with it came long, lazy days and the warmth of the sun. Jihoon thought it would mean fewer chances to see Y/N, but she surprised him one morning by showing up at the school baseball field during practice.
“Noona, don’t you have anything better to do?” Jihoon called out as she leaned against the fence, waving at him.
“Nope,” she said cheerfully. “I’m on summer break too, you know. And besides…” She grinned. “You’re the most entertaining thing around here.”
Jihoon shook his head, turning back to the field. He tried to focus on practice, but he could feel her eyes on him the whole time. When the coach finally called for a break, Jihoon jogged over to where she was sitting on the bleachers.
“Did you come all the way here just to watch me?” he asked, catching his breath.
“Maybe,” Y/N teased, holding up a bottle of water. “Here, you look like you need this.”
“Thanks,” Jihoon said, taking it. He hesitated before adding, “You didn’t have to come, though.”
“I wanted to,” she said simply, her tone sincere.
Jihoon didn’t know how to respond to that. He wasn’t used to people going out of their way for him.
Later that week, Y/N invited Jihoon to join her at the park. It was a warm afternoon, and they found a spot under the shade of a large tree. Y/N had brought a picnic blanket and snacks, and Jihoon had brought his baseball glove, just in case.
“Noona, you really don’t get tired of hanging out with me?” Jihoon asked as he tossed a baseball into the air and caught it.
“Nope,” she said, lying on her back and looking up at the sky. “Why? Are you tired of me?”
“No!” Jihoon blurted out, sitting up straighter. “I mean… no, I’m not.”
Y/N laughed, sitting up and leaning her chin on her knees. “You’re fun to be around, Jihoon. Even if you’re quiet.”
“I’m not that fun,” he muttered, looking down at the ball in his hands.
“You don’t see it, do you?” she said, her voice softer now. “You’re hardworking, talented, and you care about the things that matter to you. That’s why I like spending time with you.”
Jihoon’s heart skipped a beat. He glanced at her, her expression warm and sincere, and felt the familiar flutter in his chest.
“Thanks, noona,” he said, his voice almost a whisper.
“Don’t mention it,” she replied, smiling brightly.
As the summer days passed, Jihoon found himself growing more and more comfortable around Y/N. She became a constant presence in his life, showing up to his practices, sharing snacks at the park, and even challenging him to board games at her house.
But one evening, as they sat on the swings at the park, Jihoon couldn’t keep the question inside anymore.
“Noona,” he began, his voice hesitant.
“Yeah?” Y/N replied, gently swaying back and forth.
“Why do you spend so much time with me?” he asked, his eyes fixed on the ground.
She stopped swinging and looked at him, her expression thoughtful. “Because I like being around you, Jihoon. You’re different from everyone else. You’re honest, and you make me feel… calm.”
“Calm?” Jihoon repeated, finally looking up at her.
“Yeah,” she said with a soft laugh. “Like I can just be myself when I’m with you. No pretending, no pressure. Just… me.”
Jihoon didn’t know what to say to that. His chest felt tight, and his hands gripped the chains of the swing a little harder.
“You’re special to me, Jihoon,” Y/N added, her voice gentle.
Jihoon’s breath caught. He wanted to say something back, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, he nodded, hoping she could see how much her words meant to him.
That night, as Jihoon lay in bed staring at the ceiling, he thought about Y/N’s smile, her laughter, and the way she made the world feel just a little bit brighter.
For the first time, he let himself admit what he’d been feeling all along.
He liked her.
The news came unexpectedly.
Jihoon had always been good at music and baseball, but he never thought those talents would lead to something bigger. So when a company scout came to his school after hearing about his musical abilities and offered him a chance to audition as a trainee, Jihoon was stunned.
“Seoul?” he repeated, sitting across from his parents at the dinner table. “They want me to move to Seoul?”
His mother nodded, her expression a mix of pride and worry. “It’s a big opportunity, Jihoon. But it’s also a big decision. Are you sure this is what you want?”
Jihoon hesitated. He thought about his small town, his school, his friends. And then, he thought about Y/N.
“I’ll think about it,” he said quietly, retreating to his room.
The next day, Jihoon found himself in the music room after school, nervously tapping his fingers against the piano keys. He had texted Y/N to meet him there, and now he was waiting, unsure of how to tell her.
When Y/N walked in, she immediately noticed his tense posture. “Jihoon, what’s wrong?”
He looked up, his heart sinking at the concern in her eyes. “Noona, I have something to tell you.”
“Okay,” she said, sitting down beside him on the bench. “What is it?”
“I got an offer,” Jihoon said, his voice barely above a whisper. “To go to Seoul. To become a trainee at a company.”
Y/N’s eyes widened. “What? Jihoon, that’s amazing!”
He glanced at her, surprised. “You think so?”
“Of course!” she said, grabbing his hand without thinking. “This is huge, Jihoon. You’re so talented. They’d be lucky to have you.”
“But…” Jihoon hesitated, looking down at their joined hands. “It means I’d have to leave. I wouldn’t be here anymore.”
Y/N’s excitement faltered, and for a moment, there was silence.
“When would you leave?” she asked softly.
“Next month,” he admitted. “If I decide to go.”
Y/N took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions. “Jihoon, I won’t lie—it’ll be hard not having you here. But this is your dream, isn’t it?”
Jihoon nodded slowly. “I think so. But I don’t want to leave you, noona.”
Her heart ached at his words, but she forced a smile. “Jihoon, you can’t let that stop you. You’re going to do amazing things, and I’ll always be here cheering for you, no matter where you are.”
He looked up at her, his eyes glistening. “Promise?”
“Promise,” she said, holding out her pinky.
Jihoon hesitated before linking his pinky with hers. “I’ll miss you, noona.”
“I’ll miss you too,” she said softly.
The day Jihoon left for Seoul was bittersweet. His parents dropped him off at the train station, and Y/N was there, standing a little apart from the crowd.
Jihoon walked over to her, his duffel bag slung over his shoulder. “Noona,” he said, his voice cracking slightly.
“Jihoon,” she replied, her smile wavering.
For a moment, they just stood there, neither wanting to say goodbye. Finally, Y/N reached out and pulled him into a hug.
“Work hard,” she whispered. “And don’t forget to eat. You’re terrible at remembering that.”
Jihoon chuckled, though it sounded more like a sob. “I won’t forget.”
She pulled back, her hands resting on his shoulders. “You’re going to be great, Jihoon. I believe in you.”
“Thank you, noona,” he said, his voice steady despite the lump in his throat.
As the train pulled into the station, Jihoon reluctantly let go of her and stepped onto the platform. He turned back one last time, waving as the train doors closed.
Y/N waved back, her smile bright even as tears rolled down her cheeks.
In Seoul, Jihoon threw himself into training. The days were long, the competition fierce, and the pressure overwhelming. But every time he felt like giving up, he thought about Y/N’s smile, her encouragement, and the promise they had made.
He worked harder, knowing she was rooting for him from afar.
Years passed, and Jihoon’s dream of becoming a successful musician became a reality. After years of hard training, countless auditions, and endless performances, he had finally made it. As a member of the group that was taking the world by storm, his name was now known, his face recognized, and his music appreciated.
But despite the fame and the accolades, something was missing.
It had been years since he last saw Y/N. The memory of her smile, the sound of her laughter, and the warmth of her words always lingered in his mind. And so, one cold winter evening, Jihoon made a decision.
He would go back to his hometown, the place where it all began—the place where he had first met Y/N, the place that felt both familiar and distant now.
Jihoon stood in front of his old school, the place where he had once walked the halls as a shy, aspiring student. The building was quieter now, its paint chipped, and the playground that once hosted their after-school games seemed smaller than he remembered. But everything still felt... comforting.
He walked through the gates, a rush of memories flooding his mind. He could almost hear the sound of the baseball hitting the bat, the feel of the piano keys beneath his fingers. And then, he remembered Y/N.
He thought he would find her here, that she might still be in this place, still waiting to see him, just like he had always imagined.
With each step, his heart beat faster, hope rising in his chest. Maybe she was still living in the same neighborhood, or perhaps she had stayed in touch with some of their old friends.
But when he asked around, no one seemed to know where she was.
“I think she moved a while ago,” one of his old classmates said when Jihoon mentioned Y/N. “She went to college in Seoul, and after that, I’m not sure.”
Jihoon’s heart sank. He had hoped, even just for a moment, that he would find her here, in the place where it all started. He wandered around the familiar streets, searching for any trace of her.
But there was nothing.
The next day, Jihoon stood in front of the old piano at his middle school, his fingers lightly brushing the keys. The room was empty now, no longer the sanctuary it once was. It felt so different without Y/N’s presence, without her laughter echoing through the space.
“I thought I would find you here,” Jihoon whispered to no one in particular, his voice lost in the quiet of the room.
He closed his eyes, thinking back to those days when everything was simpler, when Y/N had been the one person who had made him feel like he wasn’t alone in the world.
He never expected fame to come so quickly, or for it to be so isolating. But as he stood in that quiet music room, Jihoon realized something: No matter how much time passed, no matter how many accomplishments he achieved, there was one thing he could never replace.
The feeling of being understood.
The warmth of her presence.
He missed her more than he had ever realized.
The following days were a blur. Jihoon returned to Seoul, unable to shake the emptiness that lingered in his chest. He threw himself into his work, but it was harder than ever to focus. His thoughts kept drifting back to the girl he had left behind—the girl who had believed in him before anyone else had.
He wondered if she still thought about him.
Did she remember their pinky promise?
The thought that maybe she had forgotten him haunted him, but he couldn’t let go of the hope that their paths might cross again one day.
Months later, Jihoon was at a variety show, doing an interview with his members. They were talking about their past, their training days, and their dreams. When it came time for Jihoon to answer a question, the host asked, “Jihoon, you’ve come a long way from your hometown. Is there anyone there you still keep in touch with?”
Jihoon paused, the question catching him off guard. He hadn’t really talked about Y/N in years. His throat tightened as he thought about her.
“I… I had a friend,” he began, his voice soft. “She was someone who really believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. She was always there, even when I didn’t realize it.”
The other members looked at him curiously, but Jihoon didn’t continue. He didn’t need to explain everything. His mind had already drifted back to that quiet music room, the park, the baseball field—every place where Y/N had once been.
He smiled, even though there was a bittersweet ache in his chest. He might not have found her in his hometown, but he knew that no matter where she was now, she would always be a part of who he had become.
Months had passed the group’s schedule was packed, but one evening, Jihoon’s mind was still on the past as he attended a musical performance with Hoshi.
It had been an impromptu decision—Hoshi had mentioned wanting to go see a musical, and Jihoon, needing a break from his usual routine, agreed to tag along. It wasn’t something he had planned on, but he thought a night out might give him a chance to clear his mind.
The theater was elegant, the grand chandelier casting soft light over the crowded room as they found their seats. Jihoon’s thoughts wandered during the first act, but something shifted when the curtain rose for the second.
On stage, bathed in a spotlight, sat a familiar figure—her fingers dancing over the keys of a grand piano. It was a moment of pure magic, the soft music filling the room and touching something deep within Jihoon’s heart. He blinked, certain that his mind was playing tricks on him.
But when she turned slightly, her face illuminated by the stage lights, Jihoon’s heart skipped a beat.
It was Y/N.
He sat there, frozen, his breath catching in his chest. She was performing, and she was incredible. Her fingers moved with such grace, every note she played perfectly in sync with the orchestra behind her. It was clear she had been practicing, honing her skill all these years.
Hoshi nudged him with a grin. “Jihoon, are you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Jihoon barely heard him. His eyes were locked on Y/N, who was lost in her music, oblivious to the audience. The whole room seemed to fade away, leaving only the sound of the piano and the girl he had once known.
After the performance, Jihoon couldn’t sit still. He had to see her, talk to her, just to know that she was real, that she was still out there, living her dream.
As the crowd began to disperse, Jihoon and Hoshi made their way backstage, where they were told to wait for the performers. Jihoon paced nervously, unsure of what to say. What if Y/N had changed? What if she didn’t remember him?
But when the door opened and Y/N stepped into view, her face lit up with recognition.
“Jihoon?” she asked, her voice soft but filled with disbelief.
Jihoon’s heart thudded in his chest. “Noona… it’s really you.”
Y/N’s eyes searched his face, a small smile slowly forming as she took a step closer. “I didn’t expect to see you here, Jihoon. I thought you were busy with… well, everything you’ve been doing.”
“I… I didn’t expect to see you either,” Jihoon admitted, his voice shaky. “I had no idea you were a pianist in a musical now.”
Y/N laughed, the sound so familiar that it felt like a weight lifting off Jihoon’s shoulders. “I’ve been busy too, you know? After college, I decided to pursue music full-time. This is where I ended up.”
Jihoon smiled, his heart swelling with pride. “You’re amazing, noona. I didn’t know you were this talented.”
Her cheeks flushed a little, and she looked away modestly. “Thanks, Jihoon. But what about you? Look at you now. I saw your performance on TV. You’re incredible. You’ve really made it.”
Jihoon shifted uncomfortably, unsure of how to respond to her praise. “I guess so. But I’ve been thinking about you a lot. About… us.”
Y/N’s smile faded a little as she looked up at him, her expression unreadable. “Jihoon…”
He swallowed, nervous. “I went back to our hometown a while ago, hoping to find you. I kept asking around, but… no one knew where you were. I thought maybe you had moved on, or that I had forgotten you…”
Y/N shook her head, her hand gently reaching for his. “I never forgot you, Jihoon. I always wondered what happened to you. But I guess I just thought you were too busy to even remember me.”
Jihoon’s chest tightened at her words. “Noona, I never forgot you. I could never forget you.”
There was a long pause as they both stood there, the years of silence between them suddenly feeling very heavy. But as Jihoon looked into her eyes, he realized that despite everything that had changed, some things remained the same. The bond they shared, the connection they had, it was still there, still burning bright beneath the surface.
“I was hoping… maybe we could catch up?" Jihoon said.
Y/N smiled warmly, her eyes lighting up. “I’d like that. I’ve missed you, Jihoon.”
Jihoon’s heart raced as he nodded. “I’ve missed you too, noona.”
Over the next few weeks, Jihoon and Y/N reconnected. They spent time reminiscing about their school days, about the late-night talks, the shared dreams, and the small moments that had meant so much.
Y/N told Jihoon about her journey into music, about how she had struggled and worked her way up to become a pianist in the musical. Jihoon shared his own story, about the hardships of being a trainee, the sacrifices he had made, and the loneliness that often came with fame.
Through it all, they never once lost the connection they had.
One evening, after another performance, Jihoon walked Y/N back to her apartment. As they stood outside the door, Jihoon hesitated before speaking.
“Noona…” he began, his voice tentative.
Y/N looked at him, her gaze soft. “What is it, Jihoon?”
“I don’t know what the future holds, but I know this—” He took a deep breath, his heart racing. “I want you to be a part of it. I don’t want to lose you again.”
Y/N’s eyes widened, her heart fluttering in her chest. She smiled, her hand gently resting on his. “You won’t lose me, Jihoon.”
Weeks passed since Jihoon and Y/N reconnected. Their lives had been different since their youth, but some things never changed—the way they talked for hours without getting bored, the way they understood each other without needing to say much. The connection they once shared had only grown stronger, and now that they were both pursuing their dreams, it felt like fate had brought them back together.
One day, Jihoon invited Y/N to visit his studio. It had been a while since they had spent time in private, just the two of them.
Y/N arrived in the afternoon, and as soon as she stepped into the studio, she was greeted by the familiar hum of creativity. There were soundboards, microphones, and instruments everywhere. She could smell the faint scent of coffee in the air and the sound of a few tracks playing softly in the background.
Wow,” she whispered, looking around in awe. “This is incredible.”
Jihoon grinned, proud of the space he had helped create. “It’s not much, but it’s home. For now, anyway.”
Y/N laughed, sitting down on the leather couch against the wall. “This is amazing, Jihoon. I can see how hard you’ve worked to get here.”
Jihoon sat beside her, his gaze thoughtful. “It’s a lot more work than I ever expected. Some days, it’s easy to forget what I’m even working for.”
Y/N looked at him, her expression soft and understanding. “I get it. It’s hard when your dream becomes your reality, and it feels like you’re just moving from one task to the next. But I know you’re doing this because you love it. I can see that in every note you play, every song you write.”
Jihoon looked at her, the sincerity in her voice touching him more than words could express. “Thanks, noona.”
After a while, Y/N stood up and walked toward the grand piano in the corner of the room. Jihoon had made sure it was a perfect space for creativity, and now, it seemed like the right moment for her to play.
“Do you mind if I play for a bit?” Y/N asked, her voice soft as she approached the piano.
Jihoon shook his head, a smile on his face. “Of course not. This is your space too.”
Y/N sat down at the piano, her fingers hovering over the keys before she began to play a soft, intricate melody. The music filled the room, and Jihoon stood, mesmerized by the way her hands moved across the keys with effortless grace.
The piece she played was familiar to him, one she had often played back when they were younger. He smiled as the sound brought back so many memories—the late nights at their school, playing together and dreaming of the future.
“This one,” Jihoon murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “I remember this.”
Y/N smiled as she finished the piece, her fingers slowly coming to a stop. “You always loved this one. We played it together when we were younger.”
Jihoon nodded, his heart full as he sat beside her. “It feels like no time has passed. Your playing... it’s like you never stopped.”
Y/N’s smile softened, a touch of sadness in her eyes. “I didn’t stop. I just... took a different path. But music is still with me. It always will be.”
Jihoon’s gaze lingered on her, the quiet weight of their shared history filling the space. “I’ve missed hearing you play.”
Y/N chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “I’ve missed playing for someone who understands.”
They sat together for a while, talking about the past and sharing their experiences. Y/N told Jihoon about her journey, the challenges of becoming a professional pianist in a competitive world, and how she had found herself in the world of musicals. Jihoon shared his own story, about the years of hard work and struggles as a trainee, the sacrifices he had made to make it this far, and the loneliness that often came with being in the spotlight.
Later, Jihoon decided to show Y/N some of his work. “Do you want to hear some of my recent songs?”
Y/N raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Of course. I’d love to.”
Jihoon sat at the piano, playing the melody of one of the songs he’d written. Y/N listened intently, her fingers tapping the rhythm against her knee.
“You’re really good at this, Jihoon,” Y/N said after the song ended. “You’ve come a long way since we were kids.”
Jihoon smiled, though his thoughts were a bit more complicated. “You were always my inspiration, noona. I don’t think I’d be here if it weren’t for you.”
Y/N’s smile faltered slightly, but she didn’t say anything right away. Instead, she leaned back and looked at Jihoon thoughtfully. “I’m proud of you, Jihoon. You’ve made it, even when things got tough. I’m happy we reconnected. I’ve always wanted the best for you.”
Jihoon’s chest tightened at her words, and he looked at her, his gaze soft. “I’m glad we found each other again.”
The evening eventually came to an end, and Y/N stood to leave, the night air cooling as she prepared to go back to her own busy life.
“Thanks for coming today, noona,” Jihoon said quietly.
Y/N smiled warmly. “Anytime. I’ll always be here when you need me, Jihoon. I’m proud of you, you know?”
Jihoon smiled back, though his heart felt a little heavy. “I’m proud of you too, noona. I’ve missed you.”
As Y/N stepped out into the night, Jihoon stood in the doorway for a long moment, watching her disappear into the distance. He felt a sense of peace settle over him. They were both walking their own paths now, but they had found each other again. And that was all that mattered.
Jihoon couldn’t shake the feeling that their reconnection was only the beginning of something more. Days turned into weeks, and although both of their schedules were packed, they made an effort to keep in touch. Texts, late-night calls, and the occasional lunch break together kept their bond alive.
One afternoon, Jihoon found himself scrolling through his phone, looking at the messages he’d exchanged with Y/N. Her encouragement lingered in his mind, and he realized he hadn’t seen her perform since the day they met again at the musical show.
He texted her on impulse:
Jihoon:
Noona, when’s your next performance?
It didn’t take long for a reply to come through.
Y/N:
This Saturday. It’s a small recital for a local charity event. Why?
Jihoon:
Can I come?
Her response came after a pause, but it was filled with warmth:
Y/N:
Of course. I’d love for you to be there.
Saturday evening, Jihoon arrived at the venue, a cozy yet elegant hall filled with an intimate crowd. He wore a mask and cap to avoid drawing attention, but even so, a few fans recognized him and whispered excitedly. He slipped into a seat near the back, his heart racing slightly as he waited for Y/N to take the stage.
When she finally appeared, Jihoon felt his breath catch. She looked calm and radiant, her confidence shining through as she walked to the grand piano at center stage. She bowed to the audience before sitting down, her fingers poised over the keys.
The music began softly, a gentle, melancholic melody that filled the room. Jihoon could see her expression as she played, completely absorbed in the moment. Her emotions poured into each note, and he couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of admiration for her.
As the final chord echoed through the hall, the audience erupted in applause. Jihoon clapped as well, his hands stinging from the force. He was proud—prouder than words could express.
Jihoon waited for the crowd to disperse before heading backstage. He found Y/N chatting with a few other performers, her smile warm and genuine as she thanked them for their kind words.
When her eyes met Jihoon’s, her face lit up. “Jihoon!”
She excused herself and walked over to him. “You came.”
“Of course,” Jihoon said, his voice soft. “You were amazing, noona. I couldn’t take my eyes off you.”
Y/N laughed, a hint of embarrassment in her expression. “Thank you. That means a lot coming from you.”
Jihoon hesitated for a moment before pulling out a small bouquet of flowers he had been hiding behind his back. “These are for you. You deserve it.”
Y/N’s eyes widened in surprise. “Jihoon, you didn’t have to…”
“I wanted to,” he interrupted, his voice firm but kind. “You’ve always supported me. It’s my turn now.”
Y/N took the bouquet, her fingers brushing against his. “Thank you,” she said softly. “This really means a lot.”
The following week, Y/N visited Jihoon’s studio again, this time bringing her own sheet music.
“I thought we could try something new,” she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “I’ve been working on this piece, and I’d love your input.”
Jihoon raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “You want me to help?”
“You’re a genius when it comes to music,” Y/N replied, her tone playful. “Who better to collaborate with?”
They spent hours in the studio, blending her piano compositions with Jihoon’s production expertise. The room buzzed with creative energy as they worked together, bouncing ideas off each other and experimenting with different sounds.
At one point, Jihoon paused and looked at her. “This feels like old times, doesn’t it?”
Y/N smiled, her hands resting on the piano keys. “It does. I never thought we’d get to do this again.”
Jihoon nodded, his gaze softening. “I’m glad we found our way back to this. Back to each other.”
Y/N’s cheeks flushed, and she looked down, her voice barely above a whisper. “Me too.”
As the evening turned into night, Y/N prepared to leave, but before she could step out the door, Jihoon stopped her.
“Noona,” he said, his voice hesitant but determined.
She turned to face him, curiosity in her eyes. “Yes?”
“I know we’ve both been busy, and our lives are complicated, but…” He took a deep breath. “I don’t want to lose touch with you again. Not ever.”
Y/N’s expression softened, and she stepped closer. “You won’t, Jihoon. I promise.”
He smiled, a sense of relief washing over him. “Good. Because having you here, in my life, it feels right.”
Y/N looked at him, her own emotions reflected in her gaze. “It feels right for me too.”
As they stood there, the silence between them spoke louder than words. Their journey had come full circle, and though they didn’t know what the future held, they knew they would face it together.
Hoshi couldn’t keep a secret to save his life. The moment he learned about Jihoon and Y/N reconnecting, he shared the news with the other Seventeen members. The group was thrilled, especially after hearing countless stories about Y/N from Jihoon during their trainee days.
“Wait, is this the Y/N noona?” Seungkwan asked, his eyes wide.
“The one he couldn’t stop talking about?” Vernon added, smirking.
Joshua leaned in, his curiosity piqued. “Jihoon, why didn’t you tell us you met her again?”
Jihoon groaned, sinking into the couch in their dorm. “Because it’s none of your business.”
Hoshi clapped Jihoon on the back, grinning from ear to ear. “Come on, hyung, don’t be like that! We’re practically family. If she’s important to you, she’s important to us.”
Mingyu chimed in, “We have to meet her. No excuses.”
“No,” Jihoon said firmly, shaking his head. “She’s not ready for that kind of chaos.”
“Too bad,” Jeonghan said with a sly smile. “We’re making it happen.”
Jihoon had barely stepped into the studio the next day when he got a text from Hoshi:
Hoshi:
We’re on our way. Don’t freak out.
Jihoon’s heart sank. He immediately called Hoshi, but the call went unanswered. Moments later, a knock sounded at the studio door. Jihoon sighed, bracing himself as he opened it.
Hoshi stood there, grinning, with Y/N by his side. Behind them, half the members were peeking around the corner, trying to stay hidden but failing miserably.
“Hoshi…” Jihoon started, glaring at his friend.
“Surprise!” Hoshi said, pushing the door open wider. “Y/N noona, meet the family!”
Y/N laughed nervously, looking at Jihoon. “I guess I didn’t have a choice in this, huh?”
Jihoon sighed, running a hand through his hair. “No, you didn’t. I didn’t either.”
Once inside, the introductions began. Y/N was polite and warm, but Jihoon couldn’t help but notice her slight nervousness as she met each member.
“Hi, I’m Seungkwan,” Seungkwan said, bowing dramatically. “I’ve heard so much about you. Jihoon hyung used to talk about you all the time.”
“Did not,” Jihoon muttered, earning chuckles from the group.
“Yes, you did!” Hoshi said, grinning. “You told us about how she used to cheer for you at baseball games and play piano for you when you were stressed.”
Y/N smiled at Jihoon. “You talked about me?”
Jihoon’s ears turned red, and he avoided her gaze. “It’s not like that. They’re exaggerating.”
Mingyu stepped forward, towering over both Jihoon and Y/N. “I’m Mingyu. It’s nice to finally meet you. We’ve all been curious about the legendary Y/N noona.”
“Legendary?” Y/N asked, raising an eyebrow.
Joshua chuckled. “In Jihoon’s words, you were his first inspiration.”
Jihoon groaned, burying his face in his hands. “Can we not do this right now?”
Y/N laughed softly, her nervousness easing as she saw Jihoon’s flustered reaction. “It’s okay, Jihoon. I’m flattered.”
The members quickly made themselves comfortable, and before long, the studio was filled with laughter and conversation. Y/N shared stories from her past with Jihoon, which the members eagerly soaked up.
“Wait, you were there for Jihoon’s first baseball game?” Dino asked, leaning forward with interest.
Y/N nodded. “I was. He struck out the first time he played, but by the end of the game, he hit a home run. I’ve never seen him look so proud.”
Jihoon sighed, his face flushed. “Can we not talk about that?”
“Why not?” Jeonghan teased. “It’s a great story!”
As the evening wore on, Y/N found herself growing more comfortable around the members. They were warm, funny, and clearly cared deeply for Jihoon. It made her happy to see him surrounded by people who supported him so wholeheartedly.
When the members finally decided to leave, Hoshi turned to Y/N with a mischievous grin. “Noona, you’re part of the family now. Don’t be a stranger, okay?”
Y/N laughed. “I’ll try not to be.”
After everyone left, the studio felt quieter, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Y/N and Jihoon sat together, the energy from earlier still lingering in the air.
“Sorry about them,” Jihoon said, rubbing the back of his neck. “They’re a bit much.”
“They’re wonderful,” Y/N replied, her voice soft. “It’s clear they care about you a lot. You’re lucky to have them.”
Jihoon looked at her, his gaze thoughtful. “Yeah, I am. But... I’m luckier to have you back in my life.”
Y/N’s cheeks warmed at his words, and she smiled. “I’m lucky too, Jihoon.”
They sat in silence for a while, the unspoken bond between them stronger than ever. Jihoon knew that, no matter what challenges lay ahead, he wouldn’t face them alone.
The weeks after Y/N’s first meeting with the Seventeen members were filled with an easy rhythm of shared time. Jihoon and Y/N grew closer, finding moments between their busy schedules to meet. She was even starting to get used to the members’ playful teasing whenever she visited their dorm or joined them at the studio.
One afternoon, Jihoon invited Y/N to his studio again, but this time, the space was quieter—just the two of them.
“Thanks for making time to come today, noona,” Jihoon said, setting down two cups of coffee on the small table.
Y/N smiled, brushing her fingers lightly over the keys of the studio’s piano. “Of course. You’ve been so busy lately, I thought you might’ve forgotten about me.”
Jihoon sat across from her, his expression earnest. “Never. I just... needed to find the right moment. There’s something I’ve been working on, and I want you to hear it.”
Jihoon walked over to his computer, pulling up a file on his production software. He hesitated for a moment before pressing play.
The room filled with a soft piano melody, layered with strings and gentle percussion. It was a piece unlike anything Y/N had heard from him before—introspective and filled with emotion. As the music played, Y/N felt the weight of each note, as if it was telling a story only Jihoon could share.
When the song ended, Y/N turned to Jihoon, her eyes wide. “Jihoon, that was... beautiful. It felt so personal.”
Jihoon nodded, his gaze fixed on the screen. “It is. I wrote it for someone who means a lot to me.”
Y/N tilted her head, curiosity sparking in her expression. “Who?”
Jihoon turned to face her, his eyes meeting hers. “You.”
Y/N’s breath caught, and for a moment, the room felt still. “Me?” she asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jihoon nodded, his expression uncharacteristically vulnerable. “You’ve been such an important part of my life, even when we weren’t in touch. I never stopped thinking about you, noona. Writing this was my way of expressing everything I couldn’t say before.”
Y/N looked at him, her heart full as she absorbed his words. “Jihoon... I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything,” Jihoon said quickly, his cheeks flushing. “I just wanted you to know.”
Y/N smiled, reaching out to place a hand on his. “Thank you. It’s beautiful. And... it means more to me than I can put into words.”
Not long after, Y/N found herself visiting Seventeen’s dorm again, this time at Jihoon’s invitation. The members were ecstatic to see her, greeting her with the same enthusiasm as before.
“Noona!” Hoshi exclaimed, practically bounding toward her. “You’re back!”
“You’re braver than I thought,” Jeonghan teased, smirking. “Coming here willingly.”
Y/N laughed, the warmth of their welcome making her feel at ease. “I couldn’t say no. Jihoon insisted.”
“Hyung, insisting? That’s a first,” Dino joked, earning a playful glare from Jihoon.
As the evening went on, the members bombarded Y/N with questions.
“Did you know Jihoon was this grumpy when he was younger?” Mingyu asked, leaning forward eagerly.
“Was he always this short?” Seungkwan added, causing an uproar of laughter.
Y/N chuckled, glancing at Jihoon, who was now sitting with his arms crossed, clearly unimpressed. “He wasn’t grumpy. He was focused. And for the record, he was taller than most kids his age back then.”
“Thank you,” Jihoon muttered, though the faint smile tugging at his lips betrayed his amusement.
“But,” Y/N added, smirking, “he’s always had that little frown when he’s annoyed. It’s adorable.”
The room erupted in laughter, and Jihoon groaned, hiding his face in his hands. “Why did I even invite you here?”
As the night wound down, Y/N and Jihoon found themselves alone in the kitchen while the rest of the members watched a movie in the living room.
“Did they overwhelm you?” Jihoon asked, handing her a glass of water.
Y/N smiled, leaning against the counter. “Not at all. They’re wonderful, Jihoon. It’s clear how much they care about you.”
Jihoon looked at her, his gaze soft. “They’re like my second family. But... having you here feels different. It feels right.”
Y/N’s cheeks warmed at his words, and she looked down at her glass. “I feel the same way.”
Jihoon hesitated for a moment before stepping closer. “Noona, I know we’re both busy, and I know our lives aren’t simple, but... I want us to figure this out. I want you to be a part of my life, not just as my past, but as my present and future too.”
Y/N looked up at him, her eyes searching his. “Are you sure, Jihoon? This isn’t going to be easy.”
“I’m sure,” Jihoon said, his voice steady. “I’ve never been more sure about anything.”
A small smile spread across Y/N’s lips, and she nodded. “Okay. Let’s figure it out together.”
Jihoon’s heart swelled at her words, and for the first time in a long time, he felt a sense of peace.
It was late in the evening when Jihoon and Y/N found themselves in his studio again. The familiar hum of equipment and the soft glow of the computer screen filled the room. Jihoon had invited her over under the pretense of showing her a new song, but as she sat across from him, engrossed in the notes spread on the piano, his heart raced.
“Noona,” Jihoon said, his voice quieter than usual.
Y/N looked up, tilting her head. “What’s wrong, Jihoon?”
He hesitated, his fingers fidgeting with a pen. “There’s something I need to say. Something I’ve been meaning to tell you for a while.”
Y/N’s expression softened, and she set down the sheet music. “You know you can tell me anything.”
Jihoon took a deep breath, gathering his courage. “I’ve liked you for a long time. Since we were kids, actually. Back then, I didn’t understand it, but now I do. You’ve always been someone special to me, noona.”
Y/N’s eyes widened, her breath catching in her throat. “Jihoon…”
“I know our lives are complicated,” Jihoon continued, his voice steady despite the pounding of his heart. “But I couldn’t keep this to myself anymore. I like you—not as a childhood friend, but as someone I want to be with.”
For a moment, the room was silent except for the faint hum of the equipment. Then, Y/N stood and walked over to him.
“Jihoon,” she said softly, her voice trembling just slightly. “I’ve always cared about you, too. And honestly, I’ve been scared to admit it. But... I like you too.”
Jihoon’s eyes widened, and before he could process her words, she leaned down and kissed him. It was soft and tentative, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still.
When they pulled away, Jihoon’s cheeks were flushed, but he couldn’t hide the small smile tugging at his lips.
“Does this mean you’ll give us a chance?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Y/N nodded, her own smile mirroring his. “Yes, Jihoon. I will.”
It didn’t take long for the news to spread, thanks to Hoshi’s impeccable talent for eavesdropping.
The next morning, Jihoon walked into the dorm’s common room to find all twelve members waiting for him, their faces a mix of curiosity and mischief.
“Hyung!” Seungkwan exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at him. “You kissed her, didn’t you?”
Jihoon froze mid-step, his ears turning red. “How... How do you know that?”
“Hoshi hyung told us,” Vernon said nonchalantly, smirking.
Jihoon turned to Hoshi, who was grinning from ear to ear. “You couldn’t keep it to yourself, could you?”
“I have no regrets,” Hoshi said, laughing. “This is the best thing to happen in months!”
Jeonghan leaned back on the couch, a sly smile on his face. “So, Jihoon, when are you bringing her over again? We need to congratulate her for putting up with you.”
“Yah!” Jihoon snapped, his embarrassment reaching new heights. “Can you all not make this a big deal?”
“It is a big deal,” Mingyu chimed in. “Our stoic producer hyung has a love life! This is historic.”
Joshua patted Jihoon’s shoulder, his tone more sincere. “We’re happy for you, Jihoon. Really. You deserve this.”
Jihoon sighed, his initial annoyance fading. Despite their teasing, he could see the genuine happiness in their expressions. “Thanks, I guess. But can you all promise not to scare her off the next time she visits?”
“No promises,” Dino said, grinning.
As the members burst into laughter, Jihoon couldn’t help but smile. Their antics might drive him crazy, but deep down, he was grateful to have them by his side.
A week later, Jihoon invited Y/N to the dorm for dinner. Despite his warnings, the members were already on high alert, eager to see her again and, more importantly, to tease Jihoon mercilessly.
“Do you think they’ve kissed again?” Seungkwan whispered loudly as they set the table.
“I bet they have,” Mingyu said with a smirk.
“Ten bucks says Jihoon will get flustered if we even hint at it,” Vernon added, leaning against the counter.
“Guys, focus,” Jeonghan said, though his mischievous grin betrayed his intent. “We need to play this smart.”
Meanwhile, Jihoon and Y/N arrived at the dorm. Jihoon gave her a reassuring look as he opened the door.
“Don’t let them intimidate you,” Jihoon said softly.
Y/N laughed. “I think I can handle it.”
The evening started off relatively tame. The members greeted Y/N warmly, though their excitement was palpable. Over dinner, they chatted about everything from music to childhood stories, most of which involved Jihoon.
“Did you know Jihoon hyung used to eat instant noodles for every meal during trainee days?” Dino said, grinning.
Y/N raised an eyebrow at Jihoon. “Really?”
Jihoon sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Why do you all insist on embarrassing me?”
“It’s our duty,” Hoshi said, laughing.
As the meal continued, the members kept sneaking glances at Jihoon and Y/N, exchanging knowing looks whenever the two shared a private smile or laugh.
After dinner, Y/N and Jihoon retreated to the balcony for a moment of peace. The evening air was cool, and the city lights twinkled in the distance.
“This is nice,” Y/N said, leaning on the railing.
Jihoon nodded, standing close beside her. “Yeah, it is.”
He hesitated for a moment before leaning in to kiss her. It was soft and brief, but before they could pull away, the sound of stifled laughter made them freeze.
They turned to find half the members huddled at the door, their faces pressed against the glass.
“Oh my gosh!” Seungkwan exclaimed, throwing the door open. “We caught them!”
Jihoon groaned, stepping back from Y/N. “Do you guys have no boundaries?”
“Nope,” Mingyu said, grinning. “This is way too entertaining.”
“You guys looked like a scene from a drama,” Jeonghan added, dramatically clasping his hands over his chest.
“Hyung,” Dino said, pretending to wipe a tear. “You’re growing up so fast.”
“Leave us alone,” Jihoon muttered, his face bright red.
Back inside, the members didn’t let up.
“So, Jihoon,” Joshua said with a sly smile, “how long have you been sneaking kisses behind our backs?”
“Yeah,” Hoshi chimed in. “And why didn’t you tell us? We’re supposed to be your brothers!”
Jihoon crossed his arms, glaring at them. “Because it’s none of your business.”
“Hyung, come on,” Seungkwan said. “You’ve got to give us something. Were you always this romantic, or is this new?”
“I’m not romantic,” Jihoon snapped, his embarrassment only fueling their teasing.
Y/N, meanwhile, couldn’t stop laughing. “You guys really don’t let up, do you?”
“Not when it comes to Jihoon hyung,” Vernon said, smirking.
“Alright, that’s enough,” Jihoon said, standing up. “If you’re all going to act like children, Y/N and I are leaving.”
“No!” Dino said, grabbing Y/N’s hand dramatically. “Noona, don’t go! We promise to behave!”
Y/N smiled, patting his hand. “I think I’ll be back soon enough. But for now, I should probably let Jihoon calm down.”
As Jihoon walked Y/N to the door, he sighed. “Sorry about them. They’re impossible.”
Y/N smiled, slipping her hand into his. “Don’t apologize. They’re wonderful. I’m glad you have them.”
Jihoon looked at her, his expression softening. “Still, I’ll make sure they behave next time.”
“Next time?” Y/N teased.
Jihoon smiled. “Yeah. Next time.”
As she left, Jihoon returned to the living room, where the members were waiting with smug grins.
“Don’t say a word,” Jihoon warned, though his expression held a hint of a smile.
The members burst into laughter, their teasing filling the room once more.
A week after the chaos of dinner at the dorm, Y/N visited Jihoon at the studio again. This time, the atmosphere was quiet and calm—just the two of them. Jihoon had asked her to help him with a melody he was struggling to finish, knowing her insight as a pianist would be invaluable.
“You know,” Y/N said, sitting at the piano in the corner, “I never thought I’d be working on music with you like this. It feels... surreal.”
Jihoon leaned against the desk, a small smile on his face. “I’ve always wanted to share this part of my life with you, noona. It just took me a while to get here.”
Y/N looked at him, her eyes warm. “I’m glad you did.”
As she played a soft tune on the piano, Jihoon watched her intently. Her presence in the studio felt natural, like she belonged there.
Just as they were starting to settle into the work, the studio door burst open, and Seungkwan, Mingyu, and Hoshi walked in with bright smiles.
“Hyung, we brought food—” Seungkwan started, but then froze when he saw Y/N. His grin widened. “Oh, noona’s here!”
Jihoon groaned, running a hand through his hair. “Why are you guys here?”
“We thought you’d be lonely,” Mingyu said, setting a bag of takeout on the desk. “But clearly, you’re not.”
Hoshi smirked, nudging Jihoon playfully. “We didn’t know you’d have such nice company.”
Y/N laughed, standing up to greet them. “It’s nice to see you all again.”
“You too, noona,” Hoshi said, then turned to Jihoon. “Were you two working or—?”
“We were working,” Jihoon cut in, glaring at him.
“Sure you were,” Seungkwan teased, wiggling his eyebrows.
As the afternoon went on, the members insisted on staying, claiming they wanted to “supervise” Jihoon’s work. They lounged around, occasionally offering unsolicited opinions on the music and cracking jokes at Jihoon’s expense.
At one point, Jihoon leaned over to show Y/N something on the piano. She laughed at a joke he made, and instinctively, Jihoon reached out to brush a strand of hair behind her ear.
The moment was subtle, but it didn’t go unnoticed.
“Oh my gosh, did you see that?” Seungkwan whispered loudly to Mingyu.
“Totally,” Mingyu whispered back, though his voice was anything but quiet.
“Hyung, stop being so romantic in front of us!” Hoshi exclaimed, dramatically shielding his eyes.
Jihoon sighed, straightening up. “Do you guys ever stop?”
“Nope,” Seungkwan said, grinning. “This is our entertainment.”
Later, when the members finally started packing up to leave, Jihoon walked Y/N to the door. Thinking they were finally alone, Jihoon leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to her forehead.
“Thanks for coming, noona,” he said softly.
Y/N smiled, her cheeks flushing. “Anytime.”
But before they could step apart, a loud gasp came from behind them.
“You’re doing it again!” Hoshi shouted, pointing at them.
The rest of the members rushed over, their expressions a mix of shock and glee.
“Hyung! In the studio?!” Mingyu said, feigning scandal.
“I can’t believe this,” Seungkwan said, clutching his chest dramatically. “Right in front of our takeout bag!”
Jihoon groaned, his ears turning red. “Can you all leave already?”
“No way,” Jeonghan said, grinning. “This is gold. Noona, you’ve really softened our Jihoon.”
Y/N laughed, covering her face with her hands. “You guys are impossible.”
“And you still like him?” Vernon teased.
“Don’t scare her off,” Jihoon muttered, shoving Hoshi lightly toward the door.
When the members finally left, Jihoon sighed in relief, turning back to Y/N. “I’m sorry about them.”
Y/N smiled, stepping closer to him. “Don’t be. I think it’s sweet how much they care about you.”
Jihoon softened, his usual stoic expression giving way to a small, genuine smile. “They’re lucky you think that. Otherwise, I’d never hear the end of it.”
Y/N laughed, wrapping her arms around him briefly. “I’ll see you soon, Jihoon. And next time, I’ll bring snacks for everyone.”
Jihoon watched her leave, his heart feeling lighter than it had in years. Despite the chaos, he wouldn’t trade this moment for anything.
As more fans became aware of Jihoon and Y/N’s relationship, the reactions grew increasingly varied. While many Carats supported Jihoon’s happiness, there were vocal detractors who scrutinized Y/N’s every move.
One evening, Y/N scrolled through social media, coming across both kind messages and a few harsh comments.
“Why her?”
“She’s not even that famous.”
“He seems happier, so I guess it’s okay.”
Though the positive comments outweighed the negative, Y/N couldn’t help but feel the sting of criticism. She closed her phone and leaned back, staring at the ceiling of her apartment.
Jihoon, sensing her mood during their usual phone call, asked, “Noona, is something wrong?”
Y/N hesitated before admitting, “Some of the comments... they’re a bit much.”
Jihoon’s voice softened. “I’m sorry, noona. I wish I could shield you from all of this.”
“You don’t need to apologize,” Y/N said quickly. “I just… I don’t want to make things harder for you.”
“You could never do that,” Jihoon said firmly. “If anything, you make things better. Don’t ever doubt that, okay?”
Her heart warmed at his words. “Okay, Jihoon.”
The members, true to their word, found ways to show their support for Jihoon and Y/N. During live broadcasts, Seungkwan and Mingyu casually mentioned how “nice” it was to see Jihoon smiling more often.
Hoshi, on the other hand, was less subtle. In a recent behind-the-scenes video, he joked, “Jihoon-hyung has someone special cheering him on these days. It’s no wonder his melodies are even sweeter!”
Carats quickly picked up on these moments, and the majority of fans began rallying around the idea of Jihoon’s happiness being their priority.
To escape the pressures of public scrutiny, Jihoon planned a quiet getaway for himself and Y/N. They drove to a small countryside village near their hometown, where they could relax without worrying about being recognized.
The day was filled with simple joys—walking along quiet paths, visiting small cafes, and sitting by a riverbank as Y/N played a soft tune on her piano app.
“You really love the piano, don’t you?” Jihoon asked, watching her.
“It’s always been a part of me,” Y/N said. “Kind of like how music is for you.”
Jihoon nodded, leaning back on his elbows. “You’re part of my music now, noona. You inspire me.”
Y/N’s cheeks flushed. “Stop saying things like that, Jihoon. You’ll make me cry.”
Jihoon chuckled, reaching out to hold her hand. “It’s the truth.”
As time passed, Y/N and Jihoon decided to make their relationship more public. They attended a charity event together, where Y/N performed as the opening act, playing a stunning piano solo.
Jihoon watched her from the sidelines, his heart swelling with pride. When she finished, the audience erupted into applause, and Jihoon was among the loudest to cheer.
Afterward, a few fans approached them cautiously.
“Jihoon oppa, Y/N unnie is amazing!” one fan said shyly.
“Thank you,” Jihoon said, smiling warmly. “She really is.”
Y/N, though initially nervous, found herself relaxing as fans expressed their support.
“We just want you to be happy,” another fan said.
Y/N glanced at Jihoon, her heart swelling with gratitude. “Thank you. That means so much to both of us.”
Back in the studio, Y/N became a frequent visitor. Though she usually stayed in the background, Jihoon would often ask for her input on melodies or lyrics.
One day, while working on a particularly emotional ballad, Jihoon turned to Y/N. “This song... it’s about us.”
Y/N’s eyes widened. “Really?”
Jihoon nodded. “It’s about finding someone who feels like home. That’s what you are to me, noona.”
Y/N smiled, tears brimming in her eyes. “You have no idea how much that means to me, Jihoon.”
During one of her visits to the studio, Y/N stayed late as Jihoon finished mixing a track. When he finally leaned back in his chair, exhausted but satisfied, Y/N walked over to congratulate him.
“You’ve worked so hard,” she said, brushing his hair back.
Jihoon smiled, pulling her into a gentle kiss.
Just as they pulled away, the studio door burst open, and Seungkwan, Hoshi, and Mingyu stood there, frozen in shock.
“AGAIN?!” Seungkwan exclaimed.
Jihoon groaned, his hand covering his face. “Can you guys knock?”
“No way,” Hoshi said, laughing. “This is too good.”
“I’m telling the others,” Mingyu said, pulling out his phone.
“Don’t you dare,” Jihoon said, standing up to chase him.
Y/N, meanwhile, couldn’t stop laughing. “You’ll never get a moment of peace, will you?”
Jihoon sighed but smiled, wrapping an arm around her. “Probably not. But as long as you I don't mind"
As their first anniversary approached, Jihoon found himself brainstorming ways to make it unforgettable. He wanted to show Y/N just how much she meant to him.
“Hyung,” Mingyu said one evening as Jihoon sat in the dorm’s living room, jotting down ideas. “You’re stressing out too much. It’s an anniversary, not a world tour.”
“It’s not just an anniversary,” Jihoon replied, frowning at his notebook. “It’s the anniversary. I want it to be perfect.”
Seungkwan, who was lounging nearby, chimed in. “Just be yourself, hyung. Noona already loves you. You don’t need fireworks—although, if you want fireworks, I know a guy.”
Jihoon sighed. “I’ll figure it out.”
Little did Jihoon know, Y/N was also planning something special. She knew how much music meant to him, so she composed a short piano piece inspired by their journey together. It was her way of expressing everything she felt but couldn’t always put into words.
On the day of their anniversary, Y/N arrived at Jihoon’s studio carrying a small gift bag and a folder of sheet music. She was nervous but excited.
“Happy anniversary, Jihoon,” she said, smiling as she handed him the bag.
Jihoon opened it to find a simple but elegant bracelet engraved with the words: You’re my melody.
“Noona,” Jihoon said, his voice soft. “This is perfect.”
“There’s more,” Y/N said, her cheeks flushing. She handed him the folder. “I wrote this for you.”
Jihoon stared at the sheet music, his eyes scanning the notes. “You wrote a song?”
Y/N nodded. “It’s not much, but—”
“It’s everything,” Jihoon interrupted, his voice filled with awe. “Thank you, noona.”
Later that evening, Jihoon took Y/N to a small, private restaurant he had rented out just for them. The room was decorated with fairy lights and candles, creating a warm, romantic atmosphere.
“This is amazing,” Y/N said, looking around in awe.
“It’s not much,” Jihoon said, rubbing the back of his neck. “But I wanted you to feel special.”
Y/N smiled, taking his hand. “I always feel special with you, Jihoon.”
As they ate, Jihoon pulled out a small box. “I have something for you, too.”
Y/N opened the box to find a delicate silver necklace with a tiny pendant shaped like a piano.
“I thought it would remind you of how much you inspire me,” Jihoon said.
Y/N’s eyes welled up with tears. “Jihoon, this is beautiful. Thank you.”
When Jihoon and Y/N returned to the dorm later that night, they were greeted by the members, who had planned a surprise party. The living room was decorated with balloons and banners, and a cake sat on the coffee table.
“Happy anniversary!” Hoshi exclaimed, pulling them into the room.
“You didn’t think we’d let you celebrate alone, did you?” Seungkwan added, grinning.
Y/N laughed, feeling overwhelmed by their kindness. “You guys are amazing.”
As the night went on, the members took turns teasing Jihoon about being romantic, sharing embarrassing stories, and welcoming Y/N further into their “family.”
Later, as the party wound down and the members dispersed, Jihoon and Y/N found themselves alone on the balcony. The city lights twinkled in the distance as Jihoon leaned against the railing, holding Y/N close.
“This year has been the best of my life,” Jihoon said softly. “Because of you.”
Y/N smiled, resting her head on his shoulder. “I feel the same. I never imagined we’d end up here, but I’m so glad we did.”
Jihoon turned to her, his expression serious yet tender. “Noona, no matter what happens—no matter how crazy things get—I’ll always choose you.”
Y/N looked up at him, her eyes shining. “And I’ll always be here for you, Jihoon.”
As they shared a gentle kiss under the night sky, they knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, they’d face them together.

Okay, so the longer you go blind, the more your other senses heighten. Humans have proven that they can develop echo location. Especially since humans already have a form of it in their every day lives.
Just one of the Bat Fam hearing clicks, only to find Reader making the noise to pin point where things are. But the second they turn the corner, Reader stops and turns their head towards the 'sibling' that suddenly came into their room.
"Why were you clicking so much?"
"Oh, it makes it easier to get around when there isn't anyone else to make sound. Usually, any amount of sound can help me locate what's around me."
"Like... a bat?"
"I guess? It's not new. Lot of blind people can do it to some extent."
-
On another note, I feel like Tim would be the least likely to treat Reader as a baby when his attention is on them. He literally trained to fight blind. So did Bruce. But for Bruce, he hasn't had to use that skill in so long, and it was a small part of his training. Tim frequently makes use of his skill in some way, even if he can see, using it as a way to dodge or attack behind himself.
Maybe this leads to Tim getting Alfred to recommend blind self defense training and some martial arts training. After he gets back from his own blind training for Robin. And then just forgets about Reader.
But this leads Reader to actually favoring Tim a bit more, cause he doesn't treat them like an idiot or an invalid. He also made sure Reader has a form of training.
Maybe, when he starts becoming Yandere, he invites Reader to the training mats to help him keep his blind fighting up and teach her more.
Heck, we can even continue on this line. Reader walking with a friend in Gotham, and a mugger to try to grab the blind person. Damian, as Robin on patrol with his siblings, tries to intervene before the 'weak' sibling gets hurt. Only to watch the mugger get bodily tossed, or their feet swept out from under themselves.
And Tim isn't surprised.
OH MY GOD I AM SORRY THIS TOOK FOREVER TO ANSWER😭😭
Yeah , when you treat a child like an adult it will imitate you. Many actually confused children's accent for not knowing how to pronounce words because of lack of knowledge (still a key factor) but it's actually them imitating the baby talk they hear.
Tim would be the type who shows you how to fish instead of giving you fish. I feel like in some sweet way he used to read to you not fairytales but hardknock books be it from science to history. Reader would slightly have better manners with Tim then anyone else because even with their relationship strained she is happy with the memories.
The exact scene Tim will become yandere would actually seeing you do the stuff he taught you doing alone , like slight training in your room , reading alone in braille (it looked low quality since finding braille books are difficult to find) he didn't know what you were reading , he felt bad , so he secretly started learning braille to make books for you and making sure they are the highest quality paper and making sure it's the best of the best translation by going to professionals and staying up to make the cover textures you like. He does ask you about your constant clicking and tapping of foot and gets you so many clicky pens.
Damian , unconsciously followed you walking home and was upset you walking around the street without a cane (he was jealous of your friend holding your hand for guidance) , a rush blurree was about robbed you blind but your insticts bodied him so hard in the cement floor that your friend was the one screaming. Damian was stilled shock and waited for you and your friend to leave to check on the man , kicking the robber's leg and checking his heart (he's alive but paralyzed) he is Honestly excited , HIS OLDER SIBLING CAN FIGHT! Though still amateur move , THEY CAN STILL FIGHT.
In Damian's mind fighting and playing is practically the same.

I had to draw one of my favourite scenes from ISYH, Ochako is such an amazing character and seeing her growth was so satisfying
Go read the fic on this link. It's by @firesign-18, i've finished reading the fic a few days ago and it was suuuuch a ride. I'll leave my thoughts below the read more 🥹
HI! if you're reading this..... i went a bit crazy reading this fic it was such an amazing work. If you haven't read it yet, don't read what I'm gonna write here.
I was recommended this fic months ago but I put it aside because there weren't that many chapters out yet and i just KNEW i needed a bunch of chapters out before starting it, cause i would have trouble not reading it all so fast after reading just the summary. That was a fantastic decision, it was so worth the wait.
I want to talk about it in sections so i can explain my thoughts properly :') There's so many aspects of the fic I loved and I wanna take the time to explain because I never really do it and this time I want to..
First the beginning and the little changes: We start off with our favourite, miserable Ochako (yay canon!), except this time it's even worse cause even less of her fight with himiko was recorded. I was kinda scared there but of course i shouldnt have doubted for a second. Anyway, Himiko is alive!! and the heroes got a way to salvage the footage of the tgck fight from Ochako's mind, so it gives her hope again :)
I wanna move forward a bit after Himiko is back because I wanted to talk about something I like to wonder a lot: how do you write a redemption arc for himiko toga post last war. I've read a bunch of fics with the same premise and I always love those who get a bunch of people to come together to help her achieve it. I love the UA involvement, as well as All Might, Miruko and Ochako of course. And the concepts of the strikes and conditions are very realistic, I liked seeing how we were gonna achieve Hero Himiko someday. All the process explained, I love when its this detailed!
I do wanna talk about another aspect before jumping into the tgck big stuff: OCs. I love OCs so much. There's Dr Ellie and the Spares who are the most important here. First Dr Ellie- whats not to like abotu her. She's been helping Himiko for a long time now, we grew to know her too, and she has a badass past, we were all gonna like her. Now the siblings: yeah i do think it's a big decision to make the villains OCs, and it really worked because they were so well developped. I went to a whole lot of emotions with them, from anger (*cough* chapter 43), through sadness and joy :') They were easy to sympathise with, and i just love how again, everyone decided the "save them" route. It really fit well with Himiko's story.
OKAY now tgck my beloved... i am so happy they got together-ish relatively fast because oh boy were they down for each other so bad. I love how it tackled their lives in relation to their future job as hero, this is a part I'm always curious to see. I really prefer when a future where Himiko is alive doesn't revolve 100% around Ochako. I want to see what she could do herself, grow with others and I think this fic accomplished this perfectly. I like that she's able to forgive herself and grow and imagine a future where she is thriving. Himiko means so much to me as a character and she was written beautifully. For Ochako, I love it soo much when she's strong and so skilled and she's pushing her limits. I loved exploring her grief and her hopes, then her struggles with selflessness vs trying to be a bit more selfish for a change. These two complement each other so well. That was such an amazing read, I'll probable have to read it again in a few weeks to relive it all.
Anyway I'm not sure who took the time to read all this, I don't usually do comments or something besides a few heart emotes here and there but for that fic, it was so good I just wanted to write something and now I've spent a long time writing :') It just hits all the boxes in tgck tropes for me so it was a blast to read!
(Also shout-out to possessive Ochako, i really love her being as crazy for himiko as himiko is for her....)

P.s. I am aware that it’s no longer recommended to wrap fractured ribs but my goodness let me have this (•‿•)

You were never a one night stand kind of person.
It felt too… vulnerable. Too scary.
You didn’t know how to just give yourself to someone you don’t even know. To trust them with a raw view of you. To trust them with something so intimate.
It had been a long week. A long month. A long year.
You were beyond exhausted and quite honestly ready for a change.
Falling asleep filled with that expensive bottle of wine you never felt special enough to drink you woke up with a fire in your heart. A spark that needed kindling.
And now on this tepid Wednesday morning while you laid in bed long past your alarm you felt more energized than ever.
Getting up you showered before finally checking your phone. Your boss called and you had a few text messages from your coworkers.
You lied about being up all night with fever and called out sick. You’d never done anything of the sorts before so no one even questioned it. One coworker even offered to bring you soup which you politely declined.
You did a face mask that claimed to plump your skin and after that you put on a little makeup. Standing in a lingerie set you bought at some point for a boyfriend you never even slept with, you tried on your only pair of heels.
No one would see you like this tonight except yourself but you didn’t mind at all. It still made you feel sexy, something you hardly thought about yourself.
Digging in the depths of your closet you found that one dress you kept tucked away for special occasions. Your heart did a little flip thinking that maybe it didn’t fit anymore but thankfully with a little shimmy as you pulled up the form fitting dress it still fit like a glove.
Catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror on the way out the door you did a double take. The dress fit you perfectly, accentuating your every curve nicely. Your hair was done and all together with some makeup on you felt pretty. The prettiest you’d felt in a long long time.
You couldn’t help smiling.
Rasasy was a small restaurant that you’d often pass by but never went into. It always looked lovely and quaint and the scent would carry through the street making you hungry on your way home.
It was quiet with a few people enjoying their dinners while chatting away happily with their partners.
The food took its time coming as it was cooked upon order but it was completely worth it.
Taking another bite you looked around taking in the atmosphere. Soft piano music was playing quietly and the booth you were sitting in was warm and cozy.
You found yourself looking to see if you were the only person eating alone. In a beat your eyes locked with a man who must’ve been the most beautiful person you’d ever seen. Sitting alone at the table to your right he took a sip of his red wine before giving you a disarming smile.
Without too much unnecessary thought you smiled at him and went back to your meal with your heart a flutter.
When you were finished you called the waitress to ask for the check. While you waited you glanced over at the beautiful man’s table but he was gone.
Your heart sank a bit and you shook your head laughing at yourself. What would you even say anyway?
“The bill was already paid for.” The waitress said with a smile.
“Paid for? Why? By who?” you said.
Somehow you already knew.
“The gentleman at table 3. He requested that you’d be given this note as well.”
“Thank you.” You whispered, feeling a little giddy.
The waiter simply smiled with a knowing twinkle in her eyes before heading away.
You waited until you got in your car, buckled in, started it, and took a deep breath before mustering the courage to unfold the note and read it.
-
Hello gorgeous
I didn't want to bother you because you looked so peaceful. I’d love to join you next time.
Jeonghan

-
The handwriting was a little sloppy yet had a unique elegance to it.
As you moved the paper you caught a whiff of a heavenly scent. Was that how he smelt?
Something regal…like an aromatic green tea and…. cigarettes. Not the cheap kind, the expensive ones that smelled sweet and warm.
“Oh who am I kidding.” You said to yourself with a wistful sigh before tucking the note into your bag. You often talked to yourself aloud to sort your thoughts.
“The lighting at the restaurant was very dim and romantic. Maybe he’s just drunk and lonely. Maybe he’s just playing a game. Maybe he has fun every night and I seemed like an easy target because I was alone and looked pitiful.”
But then a different thought popped into your head.
It came as a whisper.
‘Maybe… just maybe he wants to get to know me.’
The little thought echoed through your head silencing the others while turning your face vibrant with warmth.
Tomorrow. You’d call tomorrow.
☾
Pacing back and forth you couldn’t decide when the moment was right.
What if he thinks you’re a freak for calling so early? Maybe you should wait another day so you don’t seem desperate. Maybe you should’ve called last night and he doesn't even remember you. Maybe you could just text him? Maybe…
You hit call and squeezed your eyes shut while the phone rung.
“Hello?”
A voice filled your ear, soft and smooth
“Oh sorry Hi! Uhm this is Y/N. From last night. You gave me your number…” you heard yourself starting to ramble and wanted to die.
“Wow! I didn’t think you’d call.”
Your face fell in horror.
“Oh my I’m so sorry I-“
“I’m happy you did. I was sure you thought I was a weirdo or something. I felt so stupid but I figured you were worth the try.”
Your words caught in your throat while you tried to process everything.
“Hello? Are you still there?” He asked tentatively over the line.
“Yeah.”
Your words came out in a bit of a whisper.
“Perfect! So… do you want to get coffee or…”
“Yeah. Oh uhm yeah coffee would be- I could always drink coffee.”
“Are you busy? We could meet up today?”
“No, I'm off. How about Colvers? It’s new but I heard they make good coffee and the sandwiches aren’t half bad.”
“That sounds great! How does 2:30 sound?”
“Great!”
You caught yourself sounding a little too enthusiastic and tried to tone it down. “So.. I’ll uhm see you there?”
“See you.” He said with a light chuckle before hanging up.
A date. You have a date. A beautiful, gorgeous date.
“I’m gonna vomit!” you declared, collapsing on your bed with a groan.
You laid there for a little bit playing in your hair and suddenly giggling like a little school girl before hopping up and heading to the shower. You hummed the whole way through as you dolled yourself up and sorted through your things in an attempt to find the best and prettiest casual clothing you owned.
Checking the time you did your final touches before rushing out the door in fear of being late even though you were leaving early.
You arrived 30 minutes early and thanked god for your insight because it was a little busy but you still managed to find a good table.
You ordered their signature sandwich as a late breakfast, hoping you could finish it before he got there.
The sandwich took a little while to come but god was it worth it. You chewed with your eyes closed, savoring the warm and spicy goodness.
“Can I have a bite?”
You nearly choked as your eyes flew open at the sound of a smooth and sultry voice.
You quickly chewed and swallowed, taking a swig of your water. Your eyes pricked with tears as you forced the not fully masticated bite down.
“Have you considered filming a commercial? The way you’re eating makes that look really good.” He said with a smile that made you feel a little (a lot) hot around the collar.
“Sorry. I skipped breakfast.” You sort of mumbled as you self-consciously set your sandwich on your plate. “I don't drink coffee well on an empty stomach so I figured I’d eat before you got here.”
“Same. Can I have a bite?”
You blinked at him. “A bite?”
“Can’t I?” He did a head tilt that would’ve seemed innocent if not for that sparkle in his dark brown eyes.
You nodded slowly and slid the plate towards him with a hand that was now shaking a bit.
He picked up the sandwich, turning it around and looking at it before taking a bite right where you had.
Your mouth watered as you watched him chew.
Fighting yourself to look back at his eyes you saw something mischievous reflecting back at you that sent your skin fluttering with goosebumps.
He chewed slowly before swallowing and swiping the corner of his lips with his thumb.
“This really is good.”
“Yeah uhm.. do you want to order one…” you said, raising your hand to call the waiter.
He grabbed your hand and pulled it down to the table with a smile.
“Nah it’s okay. I’ll just steal more of yours, only if you don’t mind of course.”
He looked at you waiting for a response.
“Oh I don’t mind.” You said, not entirely sure why it didn’t bother you when you weren’t normally a big sharer. That was one of the reasons you were so lonely. It feels hard to give these days.
The waiter brought over an icy glass, setting it in front of Jeonghan and physically cutting the tension that was building as you watched him take another bite.
He sipped the cold glass of tea, his pink lips wrapping around the straw.
“What is it?” You asked as you picked up the sandwich and took a bite, your bite overlapping with his. You internally rolled your eyes as your heart did a little skip. What were you, in grade school?
But why did the sandwich taste even better this time?
“Iced green tea w/ honey and half cream. It’s good.” He said while pushing the glass towards you.
“Ohh sounds good.”
You weren’t sure if it really did sound good or if the thought of wrapping your own lips around his straw was clouding your common sense.
What in the world was this man doing to your dormant and CLEARLY desperate body?
You hesitated for a moment, looking up at him and catching his gaze again.
Without a second thought you put your lips around his straw taking a quick sip, the cool drink washing through your now hot body.
Jeonghan watched you for your reaction and you could’ve sworn you saw his eyes flicker to your pursed lips.
“Oh it is good. Maybe I should order that instead of a coffee.” You said. The tea was not too sweet and pleasantly refreshing.
“I’m telling you. You have a future in advertising.” He said with a shake of his head and a dangerous smile. So charming it disarmed you and suddenly you were smiling too.
If you from a week ago saw you now she would have a heart attack.
You didn’t end up ordering your own tea. You shared his drink with him leaning in to take sips and exchange wistful conversation.
Here you were sitting with a complete stranger sharing spit before you even learned each other's last names.
☾
“So tell me more about yourself? What do you do for work?” He asked, walking alongside you, his hand gently brushing into yours as you stepped in sync.
It was a beautiful day and Jeonghan had suggested a park date. You went on a couple dates before but you always picked activities. Not as much talking time as there was physical bonding like pottery classes and movies. You two finished a quick picnic of sandwiches before going for the walk. It felt nice to talk with him in such a relaxed way as you strolled side by side along the sunny path.
“I work in banking.” You said with shrug
“Ohhh sounds fun.” He teased.
You laughed. “Ehh. It’s not bad and it pays well enough. What about you?”
You did a quick intake of the man walking beside you.
His shoulder length black hair was silky and smelled of a soft warm scent every time he turned his head to talk to you.
His slender stature was fitted in crisp yet simple black jeans and tee that you knew could only be from an expensive store.
“Family business. Nothing exciting like banking but hey.” He said with a chuckle.
“That’s nice! It's just me here so it can get pretty lonely.”
“Even with family it can also get pretty lonely. Do you have any close friends?”
You shrugged before awkwardly laughing “Do you count?”
Jeonghan playfully knocked his shoulder into yours. “Absolutely I do.”
You stopped and looked at him, smiling softly before shaking your head.
“What?” He said with his signature head tilt.
“What planet are you from Yoon Jeonghan?”
He laughed and turned his body fully towards you, leaning against a nearby tree. “What do you mean?”
“You’re just such…a- a.”
“Weirdo?”
You laughed. “What? No! You’re such a treat.”
His smile dropped a bit before quickly lifting into a smirk. You saw an indistinguishable emotion in his eyes that was gone as quickly as it appeared.
“Sorry. It’s just I- I’ve sortve been living in this weird little me bubble and the one day I suddenly decided to pop it you showed. It felt like fate… I mean you’re just so lovely…” Your voice trailed off. Your face was burning bright as Jeonghan's eyes watched you intently.
The breeze flittered his hair into his face as if it too couldn’t resist the desire to caress him.
“You’re trouble aren’t you?” He asked in an almost whisper.
“What? Me? Hardly. Besides, I’m not the one giving my phone number on flirty notes to strangers.” You smiled, playfully poked his arm as you spoke.
“Well a beauty like you is non-ignorable. I had no choice.”
“No choice huh.” You continued to quip in an attempt to distract your body from its desire to overheat in Jeonghan's intoxicating presence.
“What? Do you just hit on every pretty girl you see?”
He held your hand that you hadn't realized was still resting on his arm and pulled you closer to him.
“Oh! That reminds me…” he said, moving his right hand and puling something from his pocket.
It was a small blue box that he opened right away and showed you.
You gasped. “These are so beautiful Jeonghan. I can’t-“
“You most certainly can. And you can put them in right now.”
“No. I can’t except something so expensive.”
“It’s okay, I won them at a work raffle. I promise it’s okay.”
“Jeonghan…”
“Please. I wasn’t going to wear them anyway.” He said with a soft chuckle. “Besides, they would look too beautiful on you for anyone else to wear them.”
Carefully he placed the gift in your hands and rested his hands on your waist, holding you close.
You looked at the breathtakingly gorgeous emerald green studs a moment longer before carefully placing them in your ears. You didn’t own a single piece of jewelry. It was one of those luxuries you wouldn’t buy for yourself and no one had ever gifted you.
Emotions swelled in your heart as you looked into Jeonghan’s eyes.
His gaze was so intense you thought you might combust on sight.
The sun was setting, painting a heavenly glow against his smooth gorgeous skin.
You leaned in before he did your lips touching his. He pulled you even closer to his invitingly warm chest as he fell into your lips embrace. Pulling back he cradled your face and gazed at you for a moment. Again his lips devoured yours as the kisses quickly filled you with ecstasy.
Eventually you both had to take a moment to breathe, his soft breath tickling your nose as he rested his forehead to yours.
You lifted your hand to his cheek while your other hand's fingers laced through the silky hair at the nape of his neck, pulled him in for another delicious taste.
His kisses spread heat through your body leaving you feeling dizzy and thoughtless.
He was completely and totally intoxicating. Green tea and cigarettes mixed with a soft scent you now knew to be him.
The tickle of his tongue on your lips was a magic spell telling your body to open to him and you complied. You pressed into him craving more as his nimble fingers pushed patterns into your skin like a sinful tattoo.
“Wow.” You whispered breathlessly.
He laughed. “I agree.”
Jeonghan looked up at the dimming sky.
“When did it get so late?” He said, concern evident in his voice. “ Let me drive you home.”
“What about my car then? I’ll text you when I get home, okay?” You were still feeling loopy off of him and couldn’t stop smiling.
“Then let me walk you to your car.”
You nodded, grabbing his hand and walking alongside him with a smile still warming your face.
☾
Jeonghan would sometimes text you good morning messages that had you feeling all giddy throughout the day. You found yourself smiling so much your coworker giggled and whispered to you “Someone is getting laid huh?”
“Oh stop.” You said swatting her away from you as you blushed thinking about how good Jeonghan probably could make you feel if his kisses had you this buzzed.
A couple weeks blew by and you talked nearly every day, both of you being too busy to meet up.
Holding your takeout in one hand and your bag and keys in the other you hummed while you tried to maneuver your house key into your hand.
A chilling breeze alerted your skin with goosebumps and you felt uneasy. Turning around you didn’t see anything out of the ordinary so you quickly and anxiously opened your door and ran inside. You locked both locks while trying to steady your pounding heart. Just then your phone rang causing you to nearly jump out of your skin.
You checked the caller ID. Why was Jeonghan calling so late? He never called at this time.
“Jeonghan?” You said through the line.
“Are you okay?” He said quickly, his voice sounding quick and low.
“Yeah I’m okay. I just got home. About to eat dinner.”
“Can I see you?”
“Now!?”
“Is that okay?”
“Well…”
“Sorry I didn’t mean to inconvenience you. Just…you’re okay right?”
“Yeah I’m okay. Why? What’s going on?” You asked, your voice sounding as shaky as you were feeling.
“No reason. I’ll leave you to your dinner-“
“No! I mean- uhm…come over.”
“Are you sure?”
He sounded so exhausted and it made your heart pang.
“Of course. I’ll text you my address.”
It was more than just wanting to see him, you were still feeling scared and you couldn’t shake the uneasiness despite telling yourself that you were just being silly. You wanted Jeonghan to hold you and make everything okay.
You paced back and forth in your kitchen until you heard the *pling* *pling* of your doorbell. You rushed to check through the peephole, the pit in your stomach beginning to unknot at the sight of the beloved man standing outside, his hair blowing in the night air, obscuring his face .
You quickly opened the door with a smile on your face.
“Come in, it's freezing out.” You said pulling him in by his hand without another look.
He kicked off his shoes hurriedly as you pulled him all the way into your kitchen and ran to the pan you had heating on the stove.
“Sit down. Did you eat dinner? I got takeout. It’s nothing fancy but I was just about to eat. It’s probably cold now so I’m just gonna heat it up except my microwave is broken and so I have to use a pan which actually is better because then it tastes…”
You had your back to him while you rambled and you suddenly felt his slender arms wrap around you, cutting your words short as they fell back down your throat, transforming into butterflies in your stomach.
He rested his head on your shoulder and let out a sigh that sounded like he had the weight of the world crushing him.
“Jeonghan?” You held his hand and tried to turn around but he gently held you still.
Looking down you noticed his knuckles. They were bruised and bloodied!
“Are you okay?” You asked, worry flipping your heart and sending it pounding against your rib cage.
After turning off the stove you grabbed his arm and this time he didn’t resist as you lifted it, turning toward him.
A gasp fell from your lips at the sight of his beautiful face…battered and bruised. He licked his busted, swollen lip and smiled at you, wincing a bit from the pain.
“Oh my god! How did I not…Jeonghan what happened!” Your hands flew up to his face but only hovered, scared to hurt him any more than he already was. Jeonghan grabbed your hands, pulling them close and resting them on his chest, against his pounding heart.
“Family troubles.” He said with a crooked smile.
You sat him down at your table before quickly leaving to grab your first aid kit.
Opening the box you hesitated as you looked at the over-supplied kit your coworker bought you as a housewarming gift unsure what to even use.
“An ice pack would be great.” He said, helping you along with a humorous lilt to his voice that didn’t fit the situation.
“Right, sorry.”
You quickly rushed to your freezer and grabbed your ice pouch you bought at some point for your headaches and quickly tossed it to the back of your freezer when you realized it was of no help.
Gently you brought it to his cheek, pressing it slowly to gauge his pain.
“Sorry.” You said pulling back when he winced. “Does that hurt too much?”
“Not when you do it.”
He smiled again, gently holding on to your waist.
“Sorry. You’ll have to hold this while I clean your lip.”
He took the ice pack, his warm fingers playing with your now cold ones.
Grabbing ointment you put some on a cotton swab before leaning over and dabbing it gently on his pretty lips.
You looked up at Jeonghan, your eyes meeting his as he looked down at you.
In an attempt to catch your breath when you first arrived home you had unbuttoned a few buttons of your blouse. Right now he had a clean view down your shirt and into your barely there bralet that you wore on long days because bras drove you crazy and this one was comfortable. Comfortable and basically see through.
You didn’t mind at all and made no effort to move as you continued tending to his cuts.
“Anything else?” So asked softly.
You noticed a bruise peaking through the black silk of his shirt.
Jeonghan stared at you for a moment thinking through his next course of action. With a pensive expression he unbuttoned his shirt all the way, revealing litters of purple marks all over his upper torso.
“Oh m- Jeonghan, I'm not a doctor! You need to go to the hospital.” You felt tears stinging your eyes as the night's emotions already began to bubble over.
“No need. Nothing's broken. I’ll be fine.” He held your hand as he spoke, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
You felt his warm body shiver as you delicately traced the injuries on his skin with cool fingers. Jeonghan rested his hand on your hips, tentatively pulling you closer.
“I feel better already.” Jeonghan whispered.
His low voice sent tingles through every fiber of your essence.
“Jeonghan. What happened? Please...”
His hands rushed to your face, cradling it and catching your falling tears with his thumb.
“There are things that need to be done. When they don’t get done it’s only natural to pay the price.”
“What does that mean Jeonghan?” Frustration twisted with worry in your voice. “Do you need help?”
He shook his head.
“It means that I will do everything within my power to keep you safe.”
“Jeonghan…You’re scaring me.”
“It’s gonna be okay y/n.”
He sweetly gazed up at you, stroking your cheek. You found yourself leaning closer, seeking the warmth and comfort you knew he could give you.
Your lips touched, not as a kiss but rather to simply feel each other, the emotions passing between you stronger than words could understand.
With a tilt of Jeoghans chin he kissed you softly at first against your trembling lips. His hands firmly pulled you closer, your body slotting between his legs as he deepened the kiss. Your tongue caressed his bottom lip and you tasted his blood in your mouth as he opened himself to you desperately.
His fingers hungrily wandered, leaving fire in their path.
Immediately undoing the rest of your buttons you slid your shirt off your shoulders, dropping it on the floor beside Jeoghans.
His hands squeezed your thighs encouraging you to straddle him.
“Are you..” you could barely speak as Jeonghan continued kissing you. “…sure it won’t…mhhh…hurt?
His only response was a moan against your lips before he pulled you into his lap, putting an end to your hesitation. Feeling worrisome about touching his injured body you laced your fingers through his hair.
Your hips took the lead pressing against the hardness that was growing in his slacks. He groaned into your neck where he had now begun to kiss and suck the sensitive skin, a moan vibrating against your throat.
Jeoghan placed your hands against his chest, letting you know that it was okay to touch him.
Your skirt was now lifted and sitting at your hips leaving only the thin barrier of your underwear now dampened with your arousal. Sliding down your bralette he littered your breast with licks and kisses.
Undoing the button of his pants your shaky hands struggled with the zipper before finally pulling his cock from the dreadfully difficult blockade that was his clothing.
“Fuck…” he breathed against your skin as you gently circled his tip, collecting the percum and stroking down his length.
His hands shot down to your aching core seeking to return the favor. He played with your swollen bud over damp underwear earning moans from you that had his cock twitching in your grasp. He slid your panties aside, slowly slipping two fingers into you.
Jeonghans hands were as nimble and graceful as they looked and you wondered if you would last much longer.
He pulled from inside leaving you aching with protest before you felt the tease of his tip to your dripping pussy lips. Standing to make it easier you watched as he guided his pretty pink cock into you, his length slowly disappearing until you were back flush against his lap.
With how long it had been since your last relation combined with his delicious size, you weren’t surprised by the pain of the stretch. Your eyebrows furrowed as you adjusted. Jeonghan kissed the corner of your lips, his hands massaging your hips while you breathed through the moment. Despite the twitch of his cock which you felt against your sensitive walls Jeonghan didn’t move, allowing you to take the lead.
He buried his face into your breasts, a string of swear words on his breath as your tight walls squeezed his throbbing cock.
When you began to rock he had to fight to steady his breathing before he blew it right then and there.
It truly had been too long for you. It didn’t take much more of his cock pressing all the right spaces in you before an orgasm came pulsing through your body. Jeonghan struggled to focus as he fought through the euphoric feeling of your fluttering pussy so that he could watch the scene that was you unraveling against him.
The beauty of your flushed face, kiss swollen lips, dazed eyes, and your softly furrowed brows had Jeonghan seeing stars.
You rested your head on his shoulder as you caught your breath.
Jeonghan waited until your heart calmed against him before he secured your hips in his hands and began lifting into you.
Shivers flittered down Jeonghan's spine as you moaned loud and clear in his ear.
Your feeling of overstimulation washed into the building of pleasure once again.
His hips began to stutter as he built closer to his release. You moved along with him and it wasn’t long before your walls were squeezing and pulsing around him again, this time pulling his orgasm into you in hot ropes. He rutted inside a few more times before wrapping his arms around your body and holding you close. You both began to settle from your high, the reality of the moments setting in.
Jeoghan was in your kitchen half naked and covered in bruises with his cock buried inside of you.
You must be going crazy because right now as you rested in his arms you felt safer than ever.
☾
You woke up to an empty bed despite falling asleep in Jeonghan's arms. The memory of you guys pulling off the rest of your clothes and stumbling to bed played through your mind.
Your stomach growled, reminding you that you skipped dinner.
You rolled over to see a note where Jeonghan had been.
~
Sorry I had a few things to handle.
There’s breakfast on the table.
I hope I didn’t make you late for work ^_^
~
You smiled not even caring that you were absolutely going to be late.
The bathroom mirror was still a bit fogged over when you looked in it. You touched your earring and smiled to yourself.
“I should’ve woken up earlier and showered with him.” You said to yourself regretfully, quickly showering so you could enjoy the breakfast he left to you. The towel he used was slightly damp and it smelled like him. You used it to dry off even though you had more than one and hurriedly lotioned and got dressed.
Jeonghan had left you a coffee that was still warm and a breakfast sandwich from Clovers. You thought your face would break from how much you were smiling but you couldn’t help that soaring feeling on your heart as you grabbed the food and headed out the door.
☾
The hairs on your neck stood up tall as you walked toward your house. It was the same stressed and scared feeling you felt the other night. The streets were being cleaned in the morning so you had to park farther down. You walked quickly as nerves began to set in halfway home. Glancing behind you you saw nothing but when you turned back around you crashed into a big tall man. You were unable to see his face before someone grabbed you from behind, holding a damp cloth over your nose until everything started to blur. You fought and fought with all your fading might, dropping your things on the ground before your body fell numb and everything went black.
Awakening to the ringing sound in your ears you squeezed your eyes tighter to gather your bearings. Examining yourself you found a bandage wrapped around your wrists and chest. It hurt as you breathed in. Your attempt to sit up was cut short by your body collapsing back on the bed, pain shooting throughout and settling into your head as a heinous migraine.
Cautious breaths were your anchor as you slowly looked around the dark room. Adjusting to the dark you noticed the faint orange glow of a cigarette burning by the window.
Fear ripped through your heart as every alarm fired off in your head.
You weren’t alone.
Using all of your strength you pushed your back against the headboard as you felt around for anything that could be used as a weapon. A gentle breeze from the open window blew through, bringing a familiar scent to greet your nose.
“J-Jeonghan?” Fear turned into confusion and then terror.
“You’re awake?” His voice came, soft and warm like a blanket covering you.
He stood up and stepped closer to you revealing the slouch of his tired frame. Bathed in blue light you could see fresh cuts and bruises on his face.
“Here, drink this.” He said offering you a water bottle.
You only just noticed how thirsty you were but you shook your head and pushed your body further away from him.
“Please, you must be thirsty. It’s unopened.” He said, switching on nightstand light and showing you the sealed bottle.
You took a moment to mull it over before tentatively accepting the drink. Your action was cut short as pain shot through, forcing you to wrap your arms around yourself.
Jeonghan rushed beside you, his hands instantly resting on your arms as his concerned eyes scanned your body. Save for the bandages around your chest and ribs your upper torso was bare, revealing the dark brushing that littered your upper torso.
“Let me help you.”
Jeaoghan opened the bottle and brought it to your mouth, his hand gently cradling your face carefully avoiding you painful bruise on your chin. Without hesitation you parted your lips allowing him to pour a few sips into your mouth. Your throat rejoiced at the relief while your stomach made you aware of its hollowness with a growl.
Jeonghan gazed down at you in his close proximity.
“What's going on?” You shakily whisper to him. “Everything hurts so…ugh…so much.”
A frown wrinkled Jeonghan’s beautiful face at your words and he looked away in shame.
“…Jeonghan?”
“You're safe. Rest here for a few days and then I’ll relocate you somewhere more comfortable. Kim will come later tonight.”
You blinked at him, no sound able to leave your mouth as you tried to process the moment.
With that Jeonghan stood up, grabbed his coat and headed for the door.
“Wait! Where are you going?” You asked, panic and distress filling you at the thought of him leaving you here alone.
“Don't leave me.” Your voice broke and you saw him hesitate, his hand frozen on the lock.
“Kim will be here soon.” He said quickly before slipping out, shutting the door airily behind him.
About an hour passed before a small slender woman possibly in her mid 40s walked in with a suitcase in tow behind her
“Hello.”
Her voice paired with her warm motherly smile felt gentle and sweet.
“You’re already looking better!”
She switched on the room light finally allowing you a clear view of the high end hotel room you apparently were staying in.
Kim went to the bathroom and came back with a basin of water.
“May I?” She asked, placing the bowl on the nightstand and ringing out the cloth.
You nodded and she began by wiping your face and then your hands. It felt soothing and the tension you felt from a stranger being in your presence began to fade.
“What’s goin-“
Kim shook her head, cutting you off without a word.
You looked at her with pleading eyes and her eyebrows tensed.
“Listen here now darling, it probably won’t make much sense but you helped save a lot of lives. A lot of innocent women and children.”
She looked at you with a soft smile. “The work that the Yoon family does isn’t very pretty and sometimes it’s down right awful. But there are people out there who are worse. And hopefully this group of worse people won’t be able to hurt any more good people.”
You were angry now. “That’s nice and all Kim but that doesn’t explain anything.” You frowned, speaking through gritted teeth as your brain struggled to sort things that just weren’t making sense.
Your heart was pounding, your ears ringing, and you were begging to feel nauseous.
“Come on doll, let’s get you washed up.
You wanted to be noncompliant but unfortunately you could really use a shower and you didn’t think you had the strength to get to the bathroom on your own.
You simply grumbled a thank you as Kim helped you to the shower and turned on the water for you. You didn't even mind when she helped you out of your clothes and bandages. She left you alone after that, only popping in to give you some toiletries and clothing.
You sunk to the floor of the tub in tears as your world crashed around you not even caring that your sobs were louder than the patter of the water against you.
You woke up to the shuffling sound of Kim’s footsteps. There was a bowl of savory smelling porridge steaming on the nightstand.
“Good! You're up!” Kim said cheerfully, making her way over to you.
You need to get something in that stomach of yours.
Kim had helped you with your hair last night by drying and plaiting it for you. You remembered Kim’s gentle hands tangling through your hair while you numbly sat on the cold floor. She had to practically drag you to bed but the moment your head hit the pillow you were out.
You pulled the covers around you. You were still naked save for the bandages Kim rewrapped for you and underwear you’d struggled to pull on. There was a t-shirt on the bed for you and you quickly pulled it on. Kim stirred the porridge and brought the spoon to her mouth checking the temperature as if you were a baby.
She set the tray down in front of you and placed the spoon in the bowl.
“Eat up. Please. You need your strength to heal.”
•••
They had you for two nights… maybe even three.
You were brought to a gaudy bedroom littered with alcohol bottles in every corner.. You were left there alone for a few hours before a woman, possibly in her late twenties, showed up.
She was concerningly skinny with a face that was pretty despite the bags under her eyes and the obvious drug use that bruised her body.
She took a moment to circle the pole you were chained to before scoffing.
“You’re not even that pretty.” She grumbled before landing a blow to your stomach, knocking the air from your lungs.
She would come in periodically to throw insults at you and hit you before eventually falling asleep on the bed. She was always inebriated, her words slurring together as she hissed at you with hot breath that reeked of liquor.
On the last night you heard the commotion of guns and yelling. She heard it as well and rage boiled in her eyes as she screamed and hit you harder than before. You felt the sickening crack of your ribs as you gasped for air and tried to stay awake.
When everything stopped you thought maybe you had died.
But you felt the warmth of a body, the familiar scent of green tea and cigarettes filling your bloodied nose. Once the chains were removed you fell into your savior's arms, unable to stand on your own.
“It’s okay. I’ve got you. I’ve got you…”
•••
You finish the porridge and curl up in bed feeling exhausted even though you hadn't moved an inch. You turned your face into the pillow but you were too tired to even cry.
When you woke up this time it was dark out. Moonlight danced through the room caressing your bare skin. Your skin flitted with goose bumps and you shot up scanning the room, your eyes landing on the figure leaning against the windowsill.
You pulled yourself up and leaned against the headboard so you could face him while you spoke.
“I want to go home.” You said, your voice sounding shakier than you’d hoped.
Jeonghan sighed and out out his cigarette before walking towards the bed, sitting at the foot of it.
“It’s not safe.”
“And why is that Jeonghan?” This time your voice sounded just as venomous as you wanted it to, the rage finally stronger than your fear.
“You’ll need to lay low for a while until things calm down.” His eyes intently watched your glaring ones as he spoke.
“You won’t be able to go back to your job so I’ll help you find something new and until then your needs will be taken care of.”
You looked away first, cursing yourself for the way your body still fluttered under his gaze.
“Can I ask you something?” You said as you fiddled with the blanket, rage subsiding and nervousness taking over again.
Jeonghan nodded.
“Why me? Did you really even…”
By now you had figured that it was all some twisted game that only you were missing the rules to. That you were just…bait?
He sighed again and rubbed his face tiredly before answering.
“You seemed…lonely. Like no one would notice if you went missing. You’re also very pretty.” He listed the reasons matter factly as if it was as casual as telling you the weather.
You wanted to protest but it was true.
Your family wasn’t just physically far away.
Your relationship with your mother and father became strained when you told them you didn’t want to keep sending money just for your little brother's addiction. They claimed it was for his rehab but he never went. Once they found his body you knew it was over. They blamed you and it was easier to leave entirely than deal with their constant bilgerance. When your job had a transfer available you didn’t hesitate. Sometimes at night you were haunted by the anger in your mothers eyes. To her, you were a witch who had killed her beloved son with your greed.
“That night that we... Why- why did you come to me? If I was just…if it was just…”
You couldn’t go on as the tears swallowed your words.
“Because I wanted to.” Jeonghan said nonchalantly.
You looked back at him with furious eyes.
“Listen.” He continued with a sigh, his tone more serious now. “ what happened- you didn’t deserve to get wrapped up in this. I’m sorry. Once I started to- I wanted to find another way.”
Emotions stormed through you, leaving you feeling confused and tired. Jeonghan's words offered little clarity, only giving way to more questions.
As Jeonghan watched your shaking eyes he wondered.
At what point did everything start feeling…real? At what point did he allow such a distraction to pull him away. It was never meant to be this way…and yet he found himself only thinking about you.
“What now?” You said, suddenly pulling Jeonghan from his thoughts. Your voice was soft against his tired mind.
“Safe house. Just for a moment while things settle. There’s still some cleaning up to do.”
You sighed and buried your face into the blanket.
A moment passed before Jeonghan spoke again.
“I’m not going to let anyone else hurt you. And that's a promise.”
For a reason only god knew, Jeonghan's voice still felt like a warm hug swaddling you tightly.
“Fuck. You.”
Your voice was muffled in the blanket but his sigh told you he heard you loud and clear.
That was the last bit of fight you had left. You already knew that no matter how messed up the situation was, you believed his every word.
☾
The next morning you left for the safe house. The drive was long and the roads were whindy and yet you napped in the back seat while Jeonghan silently drove.
Jeonghan found himself peaking in the rear view mirror often to catch a glimpse of your peaceful face.
‘There’s a special place in hell for people like me.’ He thought to himself.
Not wanting to wake you or have you wake up alone, Jeonghan waited in the car despite having arrived 2 hours earlier.
Your eyelids fluttered awake as the sun beamed through the open car windows. Jeonghan was still in the driver's seat quietly speaking on the phone. His eyes shot to the rearview and he gave you a smile. Unfortunately it was just as charming as ever.
“Yeah I’ll call you back.” He said into the phone and hanging up before getting out of the car and opening the door for you.
You nearly tripped on your way out the car as you took in the view around you. The gorgeously quaint cottage house was surrounded by miles of luscious land. There were chickens clucking around and to your far left there was a horse grazing. It was beyond beautiful. It was dream-esque and… secluded?
“Did you bring me here to kill me?” You asked seriously.
He chuckled butterflies straight into your stomach and shook his head.
“If I wanted you dead, why would I bring you here? Why not just leave you with Stella?
All you could do was shrug.
“Stella? So that is the person I need to thank for the bruises.” You said with a forced laugh.
Jeonghan's lips tightened into a thin line, a flicker of anger crossing his elegant features at the sound of Stella's nasty name on your pretty lips. "Don’t concern yourself with that" he muttered, his voice dressed in bitterness and disgust. "She's...been dealt with."
With that he walked away, closing the conversation.
He opened the door for you, letting you walk in first before following and shutting the door behind you two. The house was lit beautifully golden with the sunsets glow.
You turned to him with your eyebrows furrowed.
"Dealt with?"
“The mouse pays for the cheese with it’s life.” He said with a nonchalant shrug as he walked to the kitchen
“Jeonghan!”
You raised your voice and crossed your arms feeling a bit like an indignant child.
“Hmm?” Jeonghan hummed back without even so much as looking at you. He was shuffling through the refrigerator.
“Did you use me as bait in some sort of twisted lovers spat?” You felt your blood boiling as your pulse quickened.
“Hardly.” Jeonghan said, his haphazard attitude now starting to tick you off.
“I’m already trapped in the middle of nowhere with you. The least you can do is look at me and give me a proper explanation!”
“Look.” He said suddenly slamming the refrigerator closed, walking towards you until he was so close you had to take a step back.
“Stella was never my lover or anything like that. She was some crazy bitch who we did trade with. The skank was fucking obsessed with me, always making advances. Anyway she was running some druggie club that took part in human trafficking and shit.”
He walked back to the kitchen now, angrily pulling things from the refrigerator while he spoke. You pulled yourself onto one of the counters and listened.
“You see it’s pretty well know that the Yoons don’t fuck with that kind of shit so we were obviously gonna be a problem. I guess her and a few other wannabes got together with a grand idea and put a hit on my family. To try and scare us off I suppose. We lost good men that night.”
He paused for a moment, his expression suddenly somber but he shook it off and continued.
“That was enough incentive to put an end to her shit but that rat was hard to find. Except I would get letters from her, sometimes super detailed with mentions of things that happened to me the night before. I had a little fun at Rosie’s House and the girl showed up the next day in bad shape. Told me I wasn’t welcome back anymore. That's when we got an idea.”
He stopped tossing out the old food from the refrigerator and turned to you before leaning against the counter, his arms on either side of your body.
Your breath hitch but you did your best to act unaffected by him.
“When I saw you at that restaurant I knew it would drive her crazy. You were absolutely stunning.” His eyes flickered across your body and your treacherous heart went leaping for him.
“It wasn't enough to sleep with you. She had to think I was really seeing you. That way she’d wanna snatch you up and figure out why, leading us right to her.”
He backed up and sighed. You took a few breaths, trying to steady your racing heart.
He leaned against the opposite counter, eyes still watching you as he thought over his next words.
“…She actually found you pretty early on. The night I’d shown up…the night we…Shit was supposed to go down that night but…anyway I couldn’t show up after screwing shit up so I…went to you..”
Jeonghan shrugged his shoulders. Looking down he began picking at a callous on his palm.
“How did you even find where she took me?”
He stood up straight and pointed to your ears before turning around and unpacking the new food he purchased during a pit stop on the way here.
“Are you hungry? There's some kimbap here if you’d like.”
You slowly touched your earrings as sadness pinched your heart..
“No thank you.” You needed a moment to collect your thoughts. “ I’m gonna go and wash up.
“Oh right. Let me show you your room.”
Your room was cozy and spacious. Without waiting for him to leave you kicked off your shoes and pulled your sweaty shirt over your head, tossing it into the basket in a corner that said laundry on it.
“I’ll leave you to it.” Jeonghan said as he turned away to head out.
“Wait—“
He quickly turned back around, inquisition painting his face and he tried to rapid fire reasons in his brains as to why you’d ask him to stay while you pulled off your clothes.
“Can you help me wrap a new bandage?”
He nodded slowly. “Sure. Just call me when you’re done.”
You nodded and he left, closing the door behind him.
Did you really just ask him to wrap the bandage for you? You laid your face in your hands in exhaustion. ‘Whatever’ you told yourself as you pulled off the rest of your clothes. ‘Not like he hasn't seen them already.’
You reasoned with yourself and decided that shyness wasn’t worth losing sleep due to pain. Angrily you took out the earrings and tossed them somewhere on the floor.
You showered as quickly as you could with your sore body before drying off and lotioning as best as you could. You rummaged through the duffel bag of toiletries and clothes that Jeonghan had given you, putting on deodorant and slipping on a pair of panties and sweatpants. You wrapped your towel back around you and took a deep breath that you instantly regret when you felt the pain shoot through you. The pain was also a reminder to suck it up and go find Jeonghan.
You poked your head out of your door. “Jeonghan?” You called softly as you looked around the hallway.
When you didn’t get a response you walked towards the door across from yours and knocked. You heard movement inside the room and Jeonghan pulled open the door with a gentle smile on his face.
“Come in.”
He pulled open the door all the way and walked into the room. You hesitated for a moment and he looked back at you, amusement obvious in the twinkle of his eyes.
“Sit here.” He gestured to his bed where he had a first aid kit already open.
You scowled at him before shuffling into the room and sitting on the bed. You tried not to think about how pleasantly the room smelled of him.
Sitting next to you he faced you and waited. When you didn’t budge he lifted his hands towards your towel, stopping in front of your folded towel.
“May I?”
You nodded in response and set your arms down to your side.
He untucked the towel, letting it fall to your hips and revealing the tender skin underneath.
The room felt cold and your face burned hot.
When he bent down to pick up a jar of cream off of the floor you noticed the bright red of his ears.
He showed you the jar of medicinal cream before opening it and carefully scooping some with his fingers. “This will help with the pain, the healing, and the bruising. Kim makes it for me.”
You watched his hands move with careful elegance and he gingerly rubbed your bruises with the cooling cream. The strong medicinal smell was relaxing as he worked.
His movements were soft and graceful as he did his best to focus on his work and not your perked nipples or the soft rounds of your breast.
Unrolling the bandage he tenderly wrapped the stretchy material around your chest that now ached for more reasons than just bruises.
You couldn’t help exploring his face as he worked. His skin was smooth save for his chin that had a little light stubble on it. His warm brown eyes squinted as he focused on his task, long straight eyelashes fluttering with every movement. His pink lips pressed into a line while his nose would scrunch in concentration.
There was still an heinously undeniable connection that tethered you to him, an energy that left you feeling breathless and warm.
"Thank you," you whispered, your voice barely above a breath.
Jeonghan's eyes met yours, his gaze softening with emotions you felt all too intensely.
He was now working the bandage upward to your breast and you could feel his hands slow.
He continued wrapping, his calluses finger tips grazing against your nipples sending your nerves into a frenzy. You swallowed, keeping your eyes on everything except him until he was finished.
Already feeling hot and bothered you felt a sense of relief wash over you now that his careful ministrations were complete.
You went to stand and he stopped you with a hand on your arm. Opening the cream again he took more out and began rubbing it into the bruise on your arm.
His fingers felt heavenly against your skin as he rubbed more into another bruise on your shoulder.
“Turn around.”
You complied, turning on the bed and showing him your back. This time his touch made you shiver as his nimble fingers traced along your spine.
“Sorry, you must be cold. I’m almost done.”
You felt disappointment settled in as his fingers pulled away from your tender skin.
He stood up and went to his drawer, opened it and pulled out a shirt.
“Here. Lift your arms a bit.”
You complied and Jeonghan carefully guided your arms through each arm hole before pulling the shirt over your head.
Jeonghan sat down on the floor in front of you, pulling up your pant leg.
“What are you doing?” You asked but didn’t pull your foot away from his warm hand where he cradled it.
“I noticed you walk with a bit of a limp.” He replied softly as he rubbed the cream into your ankle before taking another bandage and wrapping the slightly swollen joint.
He closed the jar and handed it to you.
“If you find any more bruises, rub this on them.”
“Thank you.”
“Don’t.” His voice was quiet and suddenly cold.
You looked down, meeting his heavy eyes. Your ankle still rested softly in his hands making for a tense atmosphere as he held your gaze.
The expression on his face was unreadable as he carefully let you go and stood up.
Grabbing your hand he pulled you towards him, his body pressed against yours, his face inches away, his other hand holding your waist firmly against him.
Unmoving you breathed in sync as if you both had finished a complicated dance together. You felt the pounding of his heart against the pounding of yours.
“Jeonghan…”
The way you called his name made his head spin.
He let you go and backed away.
“I put the food in the refrigerator.” He said heading for the door. “You are welcome to do whatever you want here.”
“Wait! Are you leaving?” Your voice came panicked as you followed him out of his room.
“I’ve got things to do. I’ll be back tonight.” He said as you trailed behind him down the stairs.
“But Jeonghan… please.” You pleaded. Feeling too vulnerable to finish the sentence.
He turned to you this time.
“It’s okay. I’ll be back-“
You cut him off with a kiss, your arms thrown around his neck. As his shock faded, he rested his hands on your face, pulling you closer and deepening the kiss.
Your lips were so soft against his and when you parted your lips he found your taste to be intoxicating.
Wrapped in the moment it took him a little bit to notice that suddenly your body was shaking.
Pulling back he saw the tears rolling down your face.
As you clung to Jeonghan with all your might you couldn’t stop the flood of emotions that spilled out. Even after everything that happened he still felt so warm against you. As his arms wrapped around and pulled you close. you felt like everything would be okay.
Jeonghan held you just like that as you cried out the last couple weeks events.
In his arms your world crumbled.
So why was there nowhere else you wanted to be?
No one else you wanted to be with.

wednesday
“We got a case. A bad one. Like really, really bad.” The word ‘anxious’ couldn’t even describe exactly how Garcia speedwalked through the bullpen in her neon pink high heels with her rhinestoned tablet in hand. The rest of the team—except for Hotch, were all gathered around Rossi’s desk since he was showing pictures of his grandson with a puppy that he got for his birthday.
“Dare I say Florida?” you murmured audibly enough for some of them to snort at your comment, which was only half a joke. With the amount of utter bullshit that went down there and resulted in the ‘Florida man’ news nothing was surprising anymore. Let’s just say, you accidentally hit the bull’s eye.
“Brace yourselves, my sweet, sweet crimefighters, because what I’m about to show you is very gory.”
You lowered your gaze to the bright screen of your tablet, where photos of the crime scene popped up. Well… Garcia was right. It was gory.
Not even half an hour ago divers found the second dead woman on one of the beaches in Florida. It looked like she got sewn into a seal’s skin and laid down there, making it look like it was a deceased animal, swept to the land by the stronger waves. Lucky for you, since this exact thing happened a few days ago, people were more cautious and thus, the scene remained in its original, uncompromised state.
“Sarah Moore is the second victim in three days. Today, the Florida Police Force has invited us in officially.” took over the word your unit chief, shifting everyone’s glance from the tablets —and printed out files in a particular doctor’s case—towards him.
“What, they didn’t find this” Derek pointed at the device still displaying the graphic photos of the scene in front of him, “freaky at the first time!?”
“There has been a rather public scandal involving the police in Florida, which resulted in replacing almost every person at command there. I think the new chief wanted to show that he can handle things by himself, since many eyes are on him and his work.” explained the man on your right, gesticulating with his big, slender hands. As your eyes unintentionally traced the line of his fingers, you wondered if he ever played the piano. He had the hands of an artist.
“Great. I wonder how much of an asshole he will be to us. I bet he’ll try to demonstrate his superiority.” your let out a groan at the thought of having to handle a grown man who acts like a demanding child, thinking that he is better and smarter than everyone else there. You had problems with people like him. Swallowing your pride when you knew that you were right was challenging for you.
“I wouldn’t exactly use this wording, but Y/N is right. Chief Miller will do everything to make himself look good in the eye of the public, even if it means undermining us. We will have to be exceptionally careful. Wheels up in 30.”
You sat at the window in one of the lounge seating areas of the jet. Next to you was Emily, Reid sat in front of you, Derek next to him. The laptop—making it possible for Penelope to join in the briefing that took place on the plane—was set up on the table between the four of you. Hotchner, JJ and Rossi gathered around your seats with tablets and case folders in hand.
All of you were reading the detailed police reports, that seemed more like a plot of some series than an actual crime committed by actual humans. None of you have met with things like this before.
Both victims got partially skinned ante-mortem, then sewn into a seal that was cut open from its jaw to its belly. The only skin remaining on Sarah and the other poor woman, named Ruby, were on those parts of their bodies that didn’t get covered by the animal. This meant the area of their stomach, chest and face. Even their scalps got removed.
“Garcia, do we know if the seals were real or a costume?” asked the doctor after looking up from the files.
“What am I, if not the queen of supplying you with all kinds of unsettling information? I already checked, however, and couldn’t find anything on this.”
“They didn’t check?” asked Emily in a dumbfounded tone.
“Well, if they did, there are no records about it anywhere.”
“Wanna bet that Chief Whatever-the-hell-his-name-is—” you started but got interrupted by Reid, chiming in, correcting you with a slight smile on his annoying face, as usual.
“Miller.”
“Yea, that. So, wanna bet that Chief Miller wanted to wrap this case up as quickly as possible by finding a fitting culprit and putting them away, whether they’re the real killer or not? Wouldn’t surprise me if he simply forgot to check this detail.”
The briefing went on for a long time. Ideas from everyone kept popping up the more you thought about the crime, its meaning, what it tells about the UnSub, the mode of display and basically everything regarding to the case. You even debated against each other if you found some holes in the other’s logic, but everything remained civil. Even between the doctor and you. Which was rare, but not impossible. It just so happened that none of your ideas went directly against the other’s so there was no use of wasting your time with bantering.
“We are landing in 15 minutes. JJ, Prentiss and I will set up at the station. Morgan, Rossi, go to the M.E., find out what you can about the victims, C.O.D., and ask for an exam on the seal. Reid, L/N, go to the latest crime scene. We have to find out if this is a ritual or some sort of radical activist statement.”
The warm weather and the smell and sound of the sea would’ve been calming in any other situation, just not when you were squatting next to a blood soaked, dead victim. It was impossible to tell whether the animal that looked like it’s consuming Sarah was real or not. Its size, texture and smell were very lifelike. You couldn’t see the insides, not until the M.E. cuts the poor woman out of the mammal.
“It’s obvious that the UnSub was careful with the sewing, it’s very precise. Can you see the thread from where you stand?” you looked back at the man who was standing a few steps behind you, taking in and analysing the bigger picture. He slightly furrowed his brows and narrowed his eyes, trying to spot even a tiny amount of straying yarn with little to no success. From where he stood, it looked like the human and animal were one and the same. Like they were meant to be this way. He shook his head as an answer, then walked right behind you and leaned down, so that your heads could be at the same level.
You felt the warm air leaving his nose as he breathed out near the small of your neck, causing goosebumps to run across your covered skin. Thank fucking God for the long sleeves, I’d look like a fool.
These past few weeks moments like this became a common occurrence. You were convinced he pulled these antics to make you flustered, to make you look like a fool, for his own amusement. You caught him staring, more often than not, but he never looked away, just slightly raised his eyebrows and challenged you to a silent staring contest. His comments or arguments became vague or had double meanings, trying to catch you off guard. He also became more physical, which baffled you the most. Dr Spencer ‘Germaphobe-and-Social-Distancing’ Reid, who he himself said that kissing would be more sanitary and safer than a handshake, was initiating physical contact with you. You didn’t understand this at all. Things were rough between the two of you ever since you started working at the BAU, so you were careful, so fucking careful not to touch him accidentally whenever you handed him anything, since you didn’t want to worsen anything. But now… Now he made a habit of standing closer to you than to anyone else, making his fingertips brush your skin whenever you gave each other something, and so on. These would’ve been small things with anyone else but not with him. You were silently fuming whenever he did something like this. You worked so hard trying to make him comfortable. Yes, you were arguing all the time, but that was strictly professional, you never crossed any personal lines. And now he seemed to take a 180°.
Of course, you saw this as a challenge. You weren’t kidding when you said, “Game on, doctor.” in that hotel room a few weeks ago, when you first noticed how strange he behaved. Did he want to make you less competent than him by making you look like some silly girl that blushes at every small thing a man does? Well yeah, you would never let that happen. Two can play this game, and you held yourself true to your word. You fought fire by fire, acting like he did. You’d never shy away from some teasing, especially when your honour was on the line.
You turned your head towards him. He was so close, your nose almost touched his left cheek. “What are your thoughts, doctor?”
He faced you, so his eyes could find yours. What he foolishly didn’t calculate is how awfully close you two would be. His breath hitched as his gaze flickered between your irises for a few seconds, taking in all the variations of colours that danced around your pupils, then he lowered his eyes to the tip of your nose that almost touched his, finally, he stopped at your lips, barely out of reach, before finding his way back to your eyes. All of this happened in split seconds, but you noticed it all. You would’ve been a hideous profiler if you didn’t. A victorious smirk formed on your face and your confidence was through the roof as the not so collected doctor’s cheeks took up a light shade of pink, barely visible to anyone else. You won this round.
The team got set up at the conference room of the modern police station. A few hours after landing, everyone gathered there. Dave and Derek arrived with crucial information regarding the first and second victim and the seals, while you shared details about the latest scene.
“According to the M.E., the cause of death was exsanguination in both cases.” said Morgan, who was fidgeting with a mustard-coloured pencil.
“Isn’t surprising in cases involving being skinned alive.” Emily’s monotone tone came as a response as she read through the tox screen. “They found a high dosage of ketamine in their system, meaning that they were possibly paralysed and awake during the skinning and sewing, making our UnSub a sadist.”
“Yes, most definitely.” agreed Reid, who was standing in front of the huge screen on the wall of the spacious room. On the screen, an anatomical drawing of the human body was displayed. “And the UnSub must have some degree of medical knowledge, because they avoided all the main arteries during skinning, making the victims suffer much longer.” during his explanation, the doctor pointed at all the pressure points of the body to show where the two women weren’t cut.
“The way of stitching further proves this; it was really precise.” you added with a slight nodding.
“So, are we looking at a doctor maybe? But then what do the scenes mean? This is one hell of an M.O., and way too specific to have no deeper meaning to it.” next to Emily, JJ was swiping between all the photos from both scenes, zooming in on the gory details, hoping she can find something, anything.
“Well, we still can’t rule out radical climate change or animal rights activists, especially since the Caribbean monk seals that were once native to this region gone extinct because of humans. They were overhunted and due to overfishing, the remaining starved to death.” Reid said this as if he was reading it out of a book.
While the others shared their ideas back and forth, your mind wandered to a different direction. Ever since morning, when you first got introduced to this case, you couldn’t shake a thought and after seeing the scenes and becoming more familiar with the details, it just got solidified, but it was a bit too out of reach. That’s why you excused yourself and quickly left the conference room. You didn’t stop until the parking lot, which was empty, to your relief. You quickly dialled the only person who was able to help you out with your dilemma, the one and only Penelope Garcia.
Your conversation was quick, but you got everything you needed and were ready to head back to the team, now confident in your theory, however, as soon as you turned on your heels, you slammed into something rather… familiar. Reid.
“Ah, for fucks sake.” you murmured as you stumbled backwards. “Do you crave physical contact this much, dear doctor? Next time just ask.”
“Why, would you comply?” he raised an eyebrow, his lips formed a somewhat cocky smile, but it was tamed enough to get missed.
“Maybe. If you beg for it.”
“Oh, between the two of us, I’m more than certain that you’d be the one that begs.” he stated confidently, as if his awkward self never existed. “But feel free to try and prove me wrong.”
“I- khm…” no matter how much you fought against the red hotness crawling up on your neck towards your face and ears, you couldn’t shake feeling weird. “You’ll have to do a lot more work to make me want to prove anything to you.” your comeback, if one can call it that, came out weaker than it sounded in your head, so before things could’ve gotten even more embarrassing for you, you decided to change the topic, silently noting that you lost this battle. “Anyway, why did you come after me?”
“For one, to check on you. For two, the others are ordering lunch and wanted to know what you would like to eat.”
“As you can see, I’m perfectly well.” you nodded, trying to solidify your statement after your previous banter, partially for him, partially for yourself.
Before he could ask or say anything else, you decided to head back to the rest of the team, with Reid, sticking close to your back.
“Mmh, I can see. No erubescence at all.” he said in a playful tone as effortlessly caught up with you, thanks to his long legs. You ignored his comment as you pushed the glass doors in and shifted your attention towards the other five people.
“Is everything alright, pretty girl?”
“Yes, I just had to confirm something real quick before presenting my groundbreaking theory to you, guys. So,” you said as you sat down in front of the laptop that was connected to the huge screen, opened Google and typed in one single word to the search bar: selkie.

description: fluff ⋆ oneshot
in which y/n and woonhak are the epitome of high school love straight out of a drama: innocent, sweet, silly, and most of all, dramatic
pairings: k. woonhak x afab!reader
words: 2.3k
warnings: one mention of boynextdoor’s “but i like you”, so you may want to pause “polaroid love” (if listening) to listen to the chorus for a bit !!
author’s note: hiii !! (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) i just wanted to say that this oneshot is partially inspired by enhypen’s song “polaroid love” so i strongly recommend that you listen to it while reading (ㅅ´ ˘ `) happy reading !!

───────────୨ৎ───────────
my heart is racing. why am i like this?
"bye woonhak!"
woonhak politely smiled and waved goodbye to the girls in his class who giggled and ran outside of the classroom, happy that woonhak gave them even a sliver of his attention.
woonhak turned his attention back towards the window next to his desk, looking down at the yard where you sat with your friends eating and having fun during the lunch period.
he didn’t know much about you yet, just knowing you were an upperclassman, but he found himself undeniably interested in you. you managed to catch his attention immediately when you first walked up to him a couple days ago.
───────────୨ৎ───────────
“hi”
you’d come up to him when he was at the library, just smiling softly and sitting across from him as if you guys were close friends. woonhak waved back and tilted his head to the side in confusion.
“hey?”
woonhak’s eyebrow raised as you propped your head up on your hand, elbow resting against the table casually.
“i think you’re cute”
you said suddenly with a slightly mischievous glint in your eyes, causing woonhak to suddenly choke on air as he set his pencil aside, forgetting about his work in the face of another confession.
“you’re not the only one who thinks so”
woonhak said proudly, subtly flexing his arms as he wore a proud smile on his face. you rolled your eyes and laughed.
“big ego too i see. do you accept confessions often mr. cute underclassman?”
woonhak scoffed, but the faint red hue spreading to his ears betrayed how flustered he was by your straightforward attitude.
“nope. you gotta do better than that. i don’t give all this to just anyone”
woonhak said nonchalantly, trying hard to act cool. in reality, woonhak’s just a hopeless loverboy who wants someone who loves him for him. hell, he hated when girls confessed just because they thought he was cute.
“i don’t remember saying i was confessing?”
you said with an innocent smile, eyes revealing a mischievous glint that told woonhak otherwise.
“i just said i think you’re cute woonhak. just a compliment, nothing more”
you slowly got up from your chair, peeking at woonhak’s expression as you got up. he scoffed, an intrigued smile peeking at the corners of his lips.
───────────୨ৎ───────────
for a few days after, woonhak couldn’t stop thinking about you. you hadn’t yet talked to him after your first encounter, leaving woonhak to curiously wonder about you from his desk next to the window.
as if you could feel woonhak’s eyes on you from above, you looked up to him and gave him a smile that had the ghost of a smirk at the corners of your lips.
i guess it was a trap that i fell for even though i knew it
“woonhak!”
he heard a voice he hadn’t heard in exactly 3 days, 8 hours, 24 minutes, and 13 seconds. he whipped his head around quickly to see you jogging towards him with a smile, hair bouncing with each step you took.
“let’s walk home together”
you fell into step beside him, giving him a genuinely sweet smile that caused woonhak’s heart to stutter just a bit.
“how do you know where i live”
woonhak looked at you suspiciously, narrowing his eyes as you looked at him and scoffed teasingly.
“you know the long way you take to avoid the mob of girls waiting for you? you walk straight by my house on your way home”
you pointed in the direction woonhak did indeed take to avoid the random girls at the main bridge across the lake.
woonhak absolutely hated being stalked by random girls so he changed his route every month just to avoid them. he managed to miss avoiding one girl, not that he minded or anything.
“did you miss me? i saw you looking at me today”
you looked up at him and teased, woonhak letting out yet another exasperated scoff.
“not at all. you just happened to be there”
he retorted and you laughed, walking in sync with him as you two discreetly passed by the mob of girls.
woonhak found it really easy to talk to you. he found out that you’re not that much older than him, only getting accepted into the grade above him because of the narrow cutoff date while he just missed it.
you two talked about your friends, sports, clubs, basically everything you wanted to know about each other. you realized that woonhak was way more than the cool, sporty first impression many had of him.
the way he talked so passionately about what he loves was genuine. you never imagined woonhak would be into making music and singing and dancing.
the way he pouted whenever you teased him was adorably childish. you couldn’t help it. he was so smiley and sweet that you had to tease him every once in a while.
the way he stumbled over his own feet while walking next to you showed how clumsy he was, despite boasting about how good he was at soccer.
while it was true you were like everyone else who approached woonhak because he was cute, you started genuinely falling for woonhak because of his silly personality and actions.
“well, this is my house woonhak. see ya”
you waved goodbye as you bounced up the steps to your front door, quickly unlocking it and leaving woonhak stunned on the sidewalk.
“wait what’s your name?”
he shouted as he regained his thoughts just before your front door clicked shut. he watched it open again, your face poking through the doorway with a big smile as you shouted back.
“it’s y/n!”
it’s not going my way. i don’t even have any trendy filter
woonhak couldn’t believe you still liked him after seeing his clumsy, awkward side. once he realized that you did, he started to fall for your sincerity. you didn’t just want him for his looks. you liked him for him.
from then on, it was really woonhak who was pursuing his newfound crush instead of you chasing after him.
woonhak’s efforts to impress you were obvious and lackluster, but adorably endearing all the same. he started becoming clumsier, stuttering and mixing up his words around you. he didn’t even change his route to walk home as usual and kept walking home with you for months after. he even brought you small gifts and snacks from the school store once in a while. it was “on sale” as he liked to say every single time.
woonhak knew he fell hard. it’s the typical ‘she fell first, he fell harder’ romance trope he never thought he would get himself stuck in.
he’d never had a crush on anyone before. he didn’t know that the butterflies in his stomach and blush that showed whenever he saw you were signs that he liked you. he even thought he was sick before WikiHow told him he had a crush on you.
woonhak had no idea what to do. he’d had all these thoughts of falling in love with someone and having the perfect confession, but he had no idea how to go about it. so he did the only thing he knew: call his less than trustworthy friends who also had no idea !!
“hey, i need your help”
that’s all woonhak had to say before taesan and jaehyun came running over about half an hour later.
“what’s the issue this time”
taesan sighed while jaehyun made himself comfortable at woonhak’s house, grabbing chips out of the pantry.
“do you guys know who y/n is”
jaehyun perked up at the sound of your name. taesan looked fairly surprised that woonhak was even bringing you up.
“she’s our super smart class president. why?”
woonhak took a deep breath, mentally preparing to get teased by his upperclassman friends.
“i really like her and i need you guys to help me compose a song to go with my lyrics”
woonhak breathed out all at once, looking back and forth between jaehyun and taesan. jaehyun and taesan exchanged glances, smirking at each other before turning back to woonhak.
“are you in love with our lovely class president, woonhak”
jaehyun cooed as woonhak groaned, knowing exactly what would happen out of the entire ordeal.
“yes i’m in love with her, so please just help me on this”
he begged and taesan chuckled, grabbing the phone from woonhak to look at the lyrics.
“don’t worry loverboy”
taesan teased before he grabbed his laptop out of his bag and got to work, jaehyun and woonhak working together to get the lyrics and melody down perfectly.
and a week later, woonhak’s means of confession was ready to show you. after much hype and encouragement from his friends, woonhak knew exactly what to do from there.
love, that old fashioned feeling
“hey, i brought my camera like you asked. why’d you need it again?”
you came up to woonhak as usual after school, waving around your polaroid camera. you thought woonhak had a master photographer awakening all of a sudden.
woonhak looked visibly nervous upon seeing you, trying his best to mask his nervousness as exhaustion from the day.
“i want to take a nice picture today. my friend taught me how to take good pictures so i wanted to try”
that was a complete lie. woonhak had no idea how to take pictures, but he wanted to capture what was to come later.
you and woonhak walked home as usual, talking about how your guys’ days went and stuff. you told woonhak a story about how a bird flew into the classroom and took your workbook, so you were excused from work for the next couple days.
“oh yeah, do you wanna listen to this new song i found? i wanted to show you but the teacher took my phone away”
woonhak scratched his head sheepishly. that part was entirely true. woonhak had been texting taesan and jaehyun back and forth about you so much that the teacher saw and wasn’t entirely pleased.
woonhak was devastated at the time because it meant he couldn’t text you either, but he kept his head high at the thought that you might become his girlfriend in a few hours.
you took woonhak’s headphones from his outstretched hand and fit them into your ears, holding a thumbs up. woonhak took a shaky deep breath and pressed play.
“you’re driving me crazy, but i like you
you’re driving me crazy, but i like you, oh
i don’t like your eyes, nose, lips, even your jokes
i like it, only me”
it took you until the chorus to realize that it was woonhak’s voice singing the song, looking at him in complete shock as he smiled nervously at you and waited for the song to be over.
you took off woonhak’s headphones and hung them around your neck.
“so, how was it-“
you cut him off by standing on your tiptoes and intertwining your hands behind woonhak’s neck, pulling him in for your guys’ first kiss. you felt woonhak’s hands snake around your waist, tilting his head to deepen the kiss.
it was a perfect moment. the summer breeze blew through your guys’ hair as you kissed, sending shivers down your spine. it was silent all but for the rustling of leaves on the trees blowing all around. it was genuinely like a teenage dream. something straight out of a romance novel.
“is this your confession to me?”
you asked, smiling softly as you pulled away. you stood level again as you looked up at a nervous woonhak.
“maybe”
woonhak said nonchalantly as you burst out into laughter, woonhak following shortly after.
“it is, it is. so, will you be my girlfriend y/n?”
he asked and you reached for his hand, giving him a genuine smile as you interlocked your pinky with his.
“i will”
you replied softly, making woonhak break into the biggest smile as he pulled you by the waist for a tight hug, never wanting to let go.
“i like you so much”
he confessed as he leaned his forehead against yours, looking into your eyes which were both lovely crescents at how widely you smiled.
“me too woonhak. me too”
you gave him a soft peck and he giggled, burying his head into your hair while you leaned onto his chest. a beat of silence followed before he said,
“i still want a picture of you”
he muttered into your hair as you let out muffled laughs. you stepped back and gave him the widest smile possible for the camera.
the picture came out perfect. the sunset was in the back and woonhak thought you looked ethereal, insisting that he keep the picture to put in the back of his phone case.
“so possessive”
you teased. instead of woonhak giving you one of his usual groans, he just smiled widely, happy that you were finally his.
it’s like a polaroid love
you and woonhak made no effort to keep your relationship private at school. you held hands whenever and wherever you were, occasionally visiting each other between classes.
the girls woonhak rejected were jealous, but they knew they couldn’t compare. you were highly respected as the class president and a student with high class rank. how could they compete with that?
you and woonhak became the “IT” couple as soon as you two made it public. you were the perfect balance to woonhak’s goofy side, calming him down and jokingly scolding him from time to time.
his friends were surprised woonhak got an older girlfriend. he was always seen as so goofy that they wouldn’t ever believe that someone older would go for someone so immature.
you and woonhak were just perfect together, and you weren’t afraid to show it. the two of you didn’t care about what other people thought, only caring for each other.
the pure, innocent love you two shared was something that was irreplaceable, and neither of you would have it any other way. you could say it was perhaps… picture perfect?
but i love that vibe

I don’t know any dating sims but if you’ve run out as you say then it seems like you’re the perfect person to ask for recommendations?
Visual novel/dating sim recs??? You bet I have them!!!!! Most of my recs are going to be more on the darker side because you know how it is, I live for the drama. Let’s see how I can do this with little to no spoilers.
Here are my absolute FAVOURITES rn in no particular order:
1. Binary Star Hero
Okayokay, this one is in order because its my personal fav. 10/10, no notes. Three love interests, some very different and interesting endings, most of which are with Ray/Binary Star!! Aka the loml <33 the story is set in a world with super powers, meaning of course theres also super hero’s and villains. But how heroic is the best hero really? 👀
2. Favor
Favor. Where do I begin. Alternative demon he/they thats a littleee too interested in you it seems. But when has that ever gone wrong? 😊 mostly voice acted, costumizable mc, and a story that I am DESPERATE for more of, I will wait however long I need to for the next update. I will be there when it happens. Art style is stunning and its the same creator as Binary Star Hero!!
3. A date with death
Love date with death. First dating sim/visual novel I ever played, and it may have set my standards a bit high because of how amazing it is 🫶 replayed it this weekend while im on my dating sim/visual novel kick, and its still so sweet. One love interest who just so happens to be the grim reaper, and a whole lot of extra content if you feel like getting the dlc! Its like ten days total or something?? WITH ANOTHER FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE MC!! A game after my own heart truly.
4. The kid at the back
Another story I will wait until Im eighty to finish it if thats how long it takes. Super interesting plot so far, two love interests, one is more than off his rocker and the other is a little suspicious. But they’re both cute! Seriously though read the warnings for this one carefully. Sol is my fav but that is a BAD THING TO BE.
5. Error 143
Back to sweet ones! I need a million more of this. I will pay so much money. Dont know what to say about this one really, its just so nice. FULLY voice acted, some mini games, customizable pronouns + the voice acting includes your NAME? WHAT??? Im in love with the art style, and theres a dlc!
6. Killer chat
Lowkey brought back traumatic memories from my discord days. But other than that I love it! Fully customizable mc, voice acted, and four love interests that just so happen to be serial killers 😊 finished plus a dlc! But there IS the definitive edition in the works which is gonna add a lot more depending on funds. Please check it out and please consider spending some money to support the project because its so so good 🙏🙏
#visual novel#vn#game recommendations#favor vn#tkatb vn#a date with death#error 143#killer chat#dating sim#my asks#love the morally grey#answered asks#and the morally… black ig?#thats probably not the term

Wait... what was the swanqueen fic recs? ...and are there more (...esp if theyre smutty) 👀👀👀
oh there are more!!!
first of all i'm just going to plug myself because why not. i have 78 swan queen works up - mostly oneshots, a couple longfics, including the fic i'm currently writing, change with the seasons. a lot of my fics are older (for example my 52 weeks of swan queen series was written in 2015) and i was a teenager when i wrote them, but i still find a lot of joy in them!!
now for the rest of the recs, i'm going to organize them as best i can into a few categories. also, a lot of these recs will be a bit older as i've been away from the fandom for a while, and am only just now coming back again. this is an open question if anyone else has recommendations to add in the reblogs!!!
longfics:
satin town by @coalitiongirl is probably my all time favorite fanfic, period. everything she's written for the fandom is incredible, but this one has always stuck with me. the dynamic between emma and regina (who is in full on evil queen mode) is just DELICIOUS and i love how she worked henry into the story. an absolute must as far as i'm concerned. PLUS she has a whole NOVEL out now, so go support that if you like the fic!!!!
the secret's in the telling by @the-pyrophoric-one is another classic in the fandom, and for good reason. the characterization is so spot on, and i absolutely love the arc of this story. the chapters are suuuuuper long though so it's a time investment!!
somewhere, someone must know the ending by maleficently who is not on tumblr as far as i'm aware is a divorce au. lots of angst with a happy ending. the same author also wrote an incredible three-part series called the fatal plunge, which remains, tragically, unfinished.
you gotta play dirty by amycarey who i'm not tagging because they don't write fic anymore. there's so many fics by amycarey that i absolutely adore (temporary distractions and keep the wolves outside by living well are also up there!!) but i chose this one because it's so unique to me. it's an au in which emma and regina are in a concert band together. i was a band kid myself, specifically a clarinetist, so i was pretty geeked over this!!
all that glitters is not (olypmic) gold by @queststar is another super niche but super fun and well-written au. in this one, emma and regina are olympic speed skaters. i just love the competitive energy between the two of them and the arc as they grow closer and eventually fall for each other. the author even got elizabeth mitchell to read some of it which is just. next level.
one fine star away by @bytherosebushlaughing is another au that gets a little meta, but it's sooooo much fun. in this fic, once upon a time is a tv show that regina, emma, and the others starred in. 20 some years later, the cast is reuniting, and the reunion is being covered by none other than one henry mills. it's such a clever fic, and i absolutely love it so far!!
oneshots:
of love and loss and love again by @snowivyimconfusi oh this one. this one is so bittersweet. emma and regina, grieving the losses of their partners, find comfort in each other. and more. it's so beautifully done, and i just adore ivy's writing style!!
what you thought you had to do by hoovahhoopah is the very first fic i read after making my ao3 account and it's still one that i love!! it's part of a six part series of oneshots called ill fitting pieces, but it also stands on its own just as well. just a beautiful, classic, canon-but-make-it-better kind of fic.
a woman moves when her heart has been broken by etotheswan because who among us wasn't absolutely destroyed by the season 3 finale???? this offered a lot of swan queen based catharsis while we waited for season 4.
monster-in-law by seriousfic is just a funny, light-hearted little oneshot about mary margaret trying to stop emma and regina's wedding by reminding them that they're all sort of related. a big departure from the seriousfic work we all know and miss dearly..... but enjoyable nonetheless thanks to their talent!!
and now, the moment we've all been waiting for, smut:
top of the list is, of course, our prophet of swan queen smut @angstbotfic. the making amends series is my all time favorite, and one that i recommended to my dear friend 27, but you can't go wrong with literally anything they've written.
wicked games by @starsthatburn is so. is so. it left me basically speechless. also recommended this one to 27, and i believe this is the one referenced in the ask they sent. it's the most insanely hot BDSM fantasy. if you like domme regina, look no further.
the thing she won't admit by beattheodds if you like butt stuff, here's swan queen butt stuff. need i say more?
paint it black by wily_one24 heed the warnings, this one is pretty dark. but if that's what you're into, this is the one. it's like if 50 shades of grey was swan queen and also good.
of love and loathing by morganlegaye and its sequel, transgressions of the heart are a hatefuck lover's dream. transgressions of the heart remains unfinished, but god is it good.
fealty by standbackufools you like throne sex? you like honorifics? you like D/s dynamic? enjoy :)
thank god it's BDSM friday by carrotlucky13 this one covers soooooo many kinks. emma and regina enter into a 24/7 BDSM lifestyle. for 95k words. i don't know what else to say but WOWOWOWOW. even if you're not into every kink in here it's still hot af.
emma's little problem by juicecup it's a magic!cock story with a slight humiliation kink if you squint, but otherwise mostly vanilla sex to round out a very kinky rec list.
go give these incredible creators some love!!! and remember, nothing motivates a fic writer quite like a nice comment :)

María León x Ingrid Engen x Reader [SMUT!]
the cutest duo am i right
word count : 2.6k
warnings : fluffy smut, bon appetit.
“Ready, mi amor?”
“Si, just let me get my bag.”
Mapi stood at the door with her kitbag, grabbing her keys when you walked up to her with your medical bag. You had just been announced as the head of the medical team for Barcelona Femeni and it was your first day. Your girlfriends recommended you to the board when you were helping Alexia with her ACL; the board decided to use your expertise on the team upon her recommendation and you got the job, moving on from your private practice.
You were a little nervous about the position; the team was made up of elite athletes that relied on you to keep them healthy and injury-free to be able to do their jobs the best they can. You had met them all, but since you’ve never cared for them except for Alexia, Mapi and Ingrid so you were scared that you would mess up and cost the team.
“I’m ready.” You tell her, smiling up at your girlfriend.
“The barça crest looks good on you.” She tells you proudly, holding the door open for you as you walked to her car.
“Please, you’ve seen it on me hundreds of times.”
“It’s one thing to see you in my jersey or Ingrid’s amor, never fails to make my heart go crazy.”
“I love you,” you tell her, blushing lightly when she opens your door for you; Ingrid already sitting inside.
“I love you too,” She whispers quietly, leaning in to kiss your cheek.
//
You walk to training together, they follow you into the medical room to introduce you to everyone and to get you settled. Ingrid kisses your head and Mapi kisses you before leaving, heading to training while you work up a health plan for each and every one of the players.
You come out to the pitch a while later to introduce yourself to the team which isn’t necessary since the girls are over at your house at least once a week anyway and you knew all of them well. They come over to say hello at a water break, Alexia gives you a hug when Mapi comes up from behind and hugs you as you talk to Irene, Patri and Ingrid.
“Go back to practice, clingy.”
“I wanna hang out with you.”
“We live in the same house, you will live without me for a bit. Go.”
“Asshole.”
“That is so sweet of you, love.”
She lets go and kisses your cheek before running back on the pitch with Ingrid following her. You speak with Jonatan for a bit to discuss how he wished to have the medical team at games and such. You go back inside after, waving to the girls.
Ingrid and Mapi find you in your office after training, freshly showered and ready to go home. You make them sit and wait a bit, finalizing a little work before shaking Mapi awake to go home. You drive, the two girls too tired as they both fall asleep on the way.
Mapi crashes on the couch snoring while Ingrid forces herself upstairs, you chuckle and clean out their kit bags and do a load of laundry before starting on dinner. Mapi wakes up when she smells the steak you’re cooking, trudging to the kitchen grumpily.
“Hello sleepy head.”
“Hola,” she grunts back, sitting on the counter and rubbing her eyes.
You hand her a bottle of water and force her to have half, knowing she was probably thirsty but too stubborn to drink water. She jumps off the counter and throws the finished bottle in the trash before standing behind you and hugging you like she did earlier. She kisses your neck softly, arms snaked under her hoodie you had on.
“Dinner will be ready in 5, baby.”
“I’ll set the table. You’re the best, you know that?”
“I know.”
She laughs and lets go, setting the table before calling for Ingrid. You walk in with three plates, putting theirs in front of them before sitting down with your own. Ingrid digs in, sighing when she takes a bite. You smile and watch her eating as you join her while Mapi scarfs down her food at lightning speed.
“You hungry?” you ask her teasingly, grinning when she looks up with a mouth full of food.
“You’re in the wrong profession bebé.”
“These hands save lives and feed them. I love both babe; it makes me happy to see you both and the girls enjoy my cooking. Besides, it helps me destress from work.”
//
“Y/N!”
You heard your name being called during a game against Real Madrid. You look up and grab your medical bag and rush onto the field without knowing which player you’re treating. When you get there, your heart nearly stops. It’s María, face wincing in pain.
“María? Talk to me love, what hurts?”
“What doesn’t?”
“Quit being a smartass, tell me what hurts!”
“Ankle, I think her studs caught it.”
You move lower and grasp her leg, examining her ankle. You twist it to see the reaction and she yells out. Ingrid is kneeling by her head and stroking her hair, whispering softly to her to calm her down. You carefully pull her boot off followed by her sock, her ankle already starting to bruise.
“She’s out, she can’t play like this.”
“I can, just need a minute.”
“You will not, I’m pulling you off.”
The tone you used got her to stop arguing, you motioned for the stretcher to haul her off the pitch. Ona was already warmed up and ready to go, taking her spot in the game while you tended to Maria.
She sat in the examination room quietly as you iced her ankle and taped her up. She winced and whined which you promptly ignored, knowing she would complain about it after. You helped her back to the benches to watch the rest of the game, keeping her leg elevated and thoroughly iced.
“Are you okay, elskling?” asked Ingrid after the game, helping María into the car after she showered and changed, both of them positively excited by the win.
“Yes but no one has kissed it better yet.” She replies with a pout, you roll your eyes at her as you put their bags in the back with yours.
“Our Y/N didn’t kiss it better? What kind of doctor are you?” Ingrid accused you, Mapi nodding deftly with her. You chuckle and look at both of them in disbelief, hopping into the driver’s seat. Mapi was in the back with her leg across the backseat, Ingrid climbing into the passenger seat grinning.
“I did my job, I will not coddle you María.”
“I am your girlfriend, the contract says you must coddle me.”
“Are you in any pain?”
“No.”
“Any discomfort?”
“Not really.”
“Can you put pressure on your leg despite it being black and blue?”
“Yes, it’s perfectly wrapped.”
“Then I did my job.”
She huffs, crossing her arms and pouting.
“Fine, I will kiss it better when we get home.”
“You big softy.”
“Your leg is about to be even worse, María.”
//
“Y/N!”
“Yes?”
“Can you help me?”
You walk into the living room to find Mapi reaching for the TV remote on the coffee table. Ingrid is sitting there with a book, apparently ignoring Mapi.
“I can’t reach the remote.”
“Why did you call me when she’s literally sitting right there? I’ve got food on the stove!”
“She’s ignoring me.”
“And why is that, love?”
“I threw her book across the room when she didn’t want to cuddle me.”
“Sounds like you deserve it then.”
“I am injured! You’re both supposed to pity me! Baby me!”
“You don’t throw your girlfriends book across the room when she tries to read!”
“And you don’t call her a hundred and one times just to get you the remote!”
María leaned forward and managed to grab the remote, grinning up at you proudly.
“Got it! Sorry babe, don’t need you after all!”
“Call me one more time María León and I will make sure you never walk again.”
She cowers, turning on the tv and watching it till dinner time. You bring dinner to the both of them and enjoy a little tv along with it. Ingrid cleans up and comes back to cuddle you, pulling you into her arms as her hands thread through her hair. You scoot Mapi up between your legs gently, braiding her hair into small locks. Suddenly she speaks up, looking at the both of you propped up on her elbow.
“I’m sorry I annoyed the both of you today. I just wanted your attention but I guess I just didn’t know how to say it without sounding pathetic.”
Both you and Ingrid sit up and look at each other in shock. Mapi sat herself up too, Ingrid and you moving around to kneel before her. She looks at her hands, picking at a hangnail.
“Darling, you never have to do that to get our attention. You just have to ask us, we’ll both drop everything for you.”
“You’ll never sound pathetic for asking us to love on you mi amor, that’s what we’re here for! You deserve it, you never have to hide it bebé.”
She smiles, biting her lip. You lean in and kiss her, gently caressing her leg. Ingrid moves behind her, kissing down her neck and rubbing her arms. Mapi moans into the kiss, hands flailing between you and Ingrid, unsure of what to do.
You lean over and kiss Ingrid over Mapi’s shoulder as she watches, eyes wide. Nothing turns her on more than seeing both her girlfriends making out. Ingrid takes the lead in the kiss, cradling your head how she wants, obviously licking into your mouth as your tongues taste each other. Mapi outwardly moans, which makes the both of you pull away slowly.
“Wanna join us upstairs, cariño?”
“Upstair–I am a CRIPPLE!”
“Just joking, hold on.”
You pick her up easily, leading the way up to your bedroom. Mapi leans into your neck and kisses you, biting down softly. You gently set her on the bed, stripping her of her clothes. Ingrid suddenly pulls you into her, kissing you hotly as she makes Mapi watch. She makes a show of groping and caressing you, your hands tangled in her messy hair. She moans when you tug, pulling away to attach your mouth to her unmarked neck. She keens, holding onto you as you bite and suck. Mapi is touching herself, hand dipped between her legs as she noisily gets wetter and wetter.
“Enjoying the show?” Ingrid asks her, hands beginning to pull off your clothes sensually. Mapi watched with dark eyes, slipping a finger into herself as you swayed your hips and kissed lower down Ingrid’s body. You did the same to her, pulling off her clothing and tossing them about the room. Mapi moaned loudly when you kneeled before Ingrid and kissed between her legs. You pulled her underwear down and leaned in, kissing her barely peeking clit. You spread her a little and feasted, licking and sucking on her as she pulled your hair and keened. Mapi had two long fingers inside her now, the wet sounds coming from both sides of the room as you aided each other in getting off. Ingrid pushes you to kneel before the bed, leaning back for her to ride your face. You let her get comfortable before she pulls your hair back and grinds herself down on your face. Your nose devotes itself to grazing her clit as your tongue sticks out for her to sink herself on. She groans and looks up to see Mapi panting and fingering herself, eyes focused on the scene in front of her.
Ingrid pulls away just before she cums, leaning in to give you a searing kiss. She groans and pulls your face into hers when she tastes herself so potently on your tongue. Mapi screams incoherent Spanish, cumming hard from the erotic live show she’s got to give herself mind-numbing pleasure.
The two of you grin and climb onto the bed to kiss her, lips locked in a hot three-way lip-smacking fight for dominance. Mapi comes out of top, pulling the both of you off her to make out for her to watch briefly. She smirks at you and kisses both of you separately, giving it to both of you how you like it.
“Grab my strap for me, darling.” Mapi tells you, you hop off the bed and do what she asks while Ingrid checks on her leg. It’s been a couple days and she’s really resting just as precaution, but the two of you worry about her anyway.
Ingrid helps her put it on, while you sit at the foot of the bed and watch. Mapi strokes it briefly before looking at you, gesturing you to come to her. You crawl to her slowly, swaying your hips just to tease. She smirks and waits patiently, pulling you to straddle her hips. The strap pokes your inner thigh when you sit on her, Ingrid leaning in to kiss you softly as Mapi caresses your thighs.
“Want you to ride me, niña.”
You whine and sit up, arousal becoming more evident when her hand slips between your legs and pulls away soaked. No one had touched you at this point, your pent-up arousal pooling generously in your cunt.
“No need for lube, wanna see you sit on my cock angel, come on.”
You listen, holding her cock steady for you to sink down onto it. You whine and shudder as it fills you, the stretch pleasant and painful at the same time. It was soul-snatchingly addicting. You bounced a little, testing the waters. Ingrid kissed you and slowly rubbed your clit, Mapi’s hands caressed your thighs and hips, softly encouraging you as you took more and more of her cock.
Finally, fully speared on her, you slowly rode her cock; moaning loudly when she gave your ass a couple hard smacks. Ingrid moved to ride her face, facing you to lean in and make out. It was pleasurable for all of you, your hands held Ingrid’s as she cupped your cheeks and kissed you harder. Mapi was devouring her pussy, noisy slurps filled the room as it blended with the slick sounds between your legs. You cried out her name when her cock grazed your spot, angling your hips to hit it each time you sank down on her. It made your head spin; her cock filled you deep and full.
Ingrid was also panting now, your hands groping at her breasts as she resumed circling her fingers over your swollen clit. Everyone was close, orgasms right there ready for us to grasp. You were riding Mapi harder now, bouncing on her thick cock, desperately pleading to cum. Ingrid was the same, grinding down on her face while reached back to pull on her hair.
You grabbed Ingrid’s face when you came, kissing her fervently as she came right after you. Mapi too reached her peak for the second time that night, chin wet with a fucked-out smile on her face.
//
“All healed now, Maps?” Ona asked her as you all got on the plane to travel to Frankfurt.
“Yes, I am fit as a fiddle. Did you know that sex is the best medicine?”
“I will injure you again, María. I may heal people for a living, but remember; I know how to undo the healing and that is a promise.” You told her, the whole plane laughing when the defender cowered into her seat and tried to hide behind Lucy as you and Ingrid gave her the death stare.

The Unveiling pt 3
Master list
Characters: Mark Meachum x Reader
Warnings: ****Spoilers Ahead***** if you haven’t seen the first four episodes don’t read this. You have been warned.
Language, Violence, Death, Hope
Catch up on part 1 and 2
A/N: This chapter is a bit of a rollercoaster. Some angst, sadness and a glimmer of hope.
I do not own the rights to this character or any of the characters from the show. I’ve taken creative liberties with the story, but put some elements of the show in the story.
Do not take my work, all work is my own. Reblogs and likes are appreciated.
Minors DNI 18+
"Call him," I whispered, holding Mark tight. "Call Dr. Albright now. Tell him what happened."
He pulled back, his eyes still clouded with pain but now tinged with a flicker of resolve. He grabbed his phone, his fingers fumbling slightly as he dialed. I listened, my heart pounding, as he recounted the explosion, the impact, the sudden, escalating pain. His voice was grim, but he didn't sugarcoat it. After a moment, he nodded, muttering, "Okay. We'll be there."
"He wants us to come in," Mark said, looking at me. "First thing in the morning."
The waiting room felt colder, the fluorescent lights harsher than before. My hand was a clammy vise around Mark's as we finally got called back. Dr. Albright entered, his usually placid demeanor replaced by a noticeable tension. He already had Mark’s recent MRI scans pulled up on the screen.
"Mark, Y/N," he began, his voice clipped. "The good news is, the tumor itself hasn't grown. It's still stable." He zoomed in on a specific area of the scan, a faint discoloration around the main mass. "However, the impact from the explosion clearly aggravated the surrounding tissue. There's significant edema – swelling – in the area adjacent to the tumor. This is likely what's causing the severe increase in your headaches."
My breath hitched. "And what does that mean?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
"It means the headaches are going to be quite bad for the foreseeable future, Mark," Dr. Albright stated, his gaze fixed on the scan. "We can manage the pain with medication, but the swelling will take time to subside. It could be weeks, even months, before you get any significant relief."
"But what about treatment for the tumor itself?" I interjected, pulling out my phone, which was open to a medical journal article I’d spent hours poring over. "I've been reading about focused radiation therapies, like Gamma Knife or CyberKnife. And I found some promising research on specific molecular inhibitors for gliomas of his type, even slow-growing ones. What about those options? Why aren't we exploring them more aggressively?"
Dr. Albright’s posture stiffened. He looked at me, a flicker of annoyance in his eyes. "Mrs.—"
"It's Y/N," I cut in, my voice unwavering.
"Right. Y/N," he continued, his tone sharper. "I understand your concern, but those treatments carry their own significant risks, especially with the tumor's delicate location. As I've explained multiple times, the potential side effects for Mark – cognitive decline, motor impairment, speech issues – could severely impact his quality of life. My primary responsibility is to do no harm, and in this case, aggressive intervention carries more risk than benefit."
"But what about the risk of no intervention?" I retorted, my voice rising. "What about the risk of him living with this constant pain, this ticking bomb, knowing we aren't doing everything we possibly can? If these therapies are showing promise in studies, then why aren't we discussing them seriously?"
He pushed his glasses up his nose, his voice taking on a condescending edge. "With all due respect, Y/N, while I appreciate you doing your 'research,' I am an oncologist with twenty years of experience. I've seen countless cases like Mark's. Trust me when I say I have his best interests at heart. My recommendations are based on extensive clinical knowledge, not on what you might read in a medical journal for researchers, or a popular science book."
My blood ran cold. The dismissive tone, the blatant condescension, ignited a fire within me. He was belittling my desperate search for hope, for a path forward. He was acting like my concerns were an inconvenience, not the cry of a terrified girlfriend.
"No," I stated, standing up, my voice trembling with controlled fury. "No, you don't get to talk to me like that. You don't get to dismiss my fears or my research. Mark has a brain tumor, and he just hit his head, and you're telling him to just live with excruciating pain and not explore every single possibility. That's not good enough." I turned to Mark, my hand going to his arm. "Mark, we're leaving. We need a second opinion. A real one."
Dr. Albright pushed back his chair, rising to his feet, his face flushed. "Now, hold on a minute! I find your behavior highly disrespectful. I am providing the best possible care based on current medical consensus—"
I spun back to him, my voice cutting through his. "Consensus? My boyfriend is a human being, not a statistic! You're telling him to passively wait for something catastrophic to happen, while there are other options, difficult as they may be, that could offer hope. You're dismissive, you're defensive, and frankly, you're not listening to us! So, no, you hold on. We are leaving, and we will find a doctor who is willing to fight for him, and with us, instead of just telling us to give up!"
I grabbed Mark's hand, pulling him gently but firmly. His eyes were wide, a mix of shock and a silent, grateful acknowledgment. He squeezed my hand, a subtle sign of his support, and together, we walked out of the office, leaving a stunned and fuming Dr. Albright behind.
We walked out of Dr. Albright's office, the silence in the hallway a stark contrast to the eruption we'd just left behind. Mark squeezed my hand again, a silent message of gratitude that filled me with a fierce sense of purpose. The immediate adrenaline began to recede, replaced by a quiet determination.
"Home," I said, looking at him, a resolute set to my jaw. "We're going home and we're finding someone better."
The moment we stepped back into our living room, the quiet hum of the house felt different, no longer heavy with unspoken words but charged with a new, shared mission. I immediately pulled out my laptop, pushing aside the old research papers that now seemed inadequate. This time, I wasn't just reading about possibilities; I was hunting for certainties, or at least, for a doctor willing to treat Mark like a person, not a textbook case.
I typed furiously, searching for the best neuro-oncologists in the country. Filters for glioma specialization, cutting-edge treatments, and patient-centered care narrowed the field. One name consistently rose to the top: Dr. Aris Thorne, head of neuro-oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland. The name echoed through my mind. Johns Hopkins—a beacon of medical innovation, a place where impossible cases sometimes found solutions.
"Look," I said, turning the laptop to show Mark the glowing screen. "This is him. Dr. Aris Thorne at Johns Hopkins. Their department is renowned for brain tumors. He's published extensively on gliomas."
Mark peered at the screen, his expression unreadable. "Maryland's a long way," he murmured, the pain from his head still evident in his voice, even if dulled by medication.
"Doesn't matter," I insisted, my voice firm. "Distance means nothing if he's the one who can help you. Or at least, the one who'll give us a real assessment."
I spent the next hour meticulously gathering every medical record, every MRI scan, every lab report, and composing a concise, yet comprehensive, email to Dr. Thorne's office. I poured my heart into the cover letter, explaining Mark's situation, the recent head injury, Dr. Albright's stance, and our desperate need for a second opinion, for hope. I attached all his files and clicked send, watching the little email icon disappear, a prayer whispered into the digital ether.
"Now we wait," I said, leaning back, a tremor running through me despite my outward resolve.
Mark came and sat beside me, putting an arm around my shoulders. "Thank you," he said, his voice soft. "For doing this."
I leaned into him, resting my head on his chest. "We have to see, Mark," I told him, looking up into his eyes, a fierce determination hardening my gaze. "Even if they say the same thing, even if the answer is still no, at least we go down swinging. We fight this, together. Every step of the way."
The rest of Friday stretched into an agonizing limbo. Every email notification, every vibrating phone, sent a jolt of anxious hope through me, only to deflate when it wasn't the one I was desperate for. "It's Friday," I told myself, trying to manage my expectations. "No one's reviewing medical records on a Friday afternoon." But the waiting gnawed at me, a relentless current beneath the surface of my forced calm.
Mark, despite the escalating pain from his head injury, reported to work. He moved with a subtle stiffness, a barely perceptible wince whenever he turned his head too quickly. I knew he had pain medication tucked into his pocket, a silent admission of his suffering. His team, however, was perceptive.
"You okay, Mark?" Amber asked, catching him rubbing his temple during a coffee break. "You've been looking a little... off."
"Just a headache," he'd mumbled, shrugging it off, the practiced dismissiveness of a man used to concealing his true state. "Long night."
Nathan, ever watchful, didn't press, but his gaze lingered, heavy with concern. He knew a "long night" from a genuine problem, and Mark's demeanor screamed the latter.
That afternoon, Mark was tasked with a critical mission: meeting a key prisoner under his old undercover alias. The plan was to exploit his past connections, gather more intelligence on 'The Engineer's' network, and confirm suspicions about a major upcoming shipment. The meeting was set for a secure, off-site location, disguised as a routine transfer.
Mark, still operating with that reckless intensity, walked into the meeting room. The prisoner, a notoriously volatile figure from his past, was already there, flanked by two armed guards. Mark slipped easily back into his undercover persona, the familiar swagger and hardened gaze replacing his internal turmoil. He started working the prisoner, extracting bits and pieces of information.
Then, he saw it. A detail, seemingly innocuous, hidden in plain sight. A specific tattoo on one of the guards, a symbol he recognized not from the criminal underworld, but from the classified briefings he’d just sat through on the secret task force. A symbol linked to the very organization they were trying to dismantle, far beyond mere trafficking. This wasn't just a guard; this was an operative, and the "prisoner" was likely bait. He had stumbled into a setup.
Before he could react, before he could signal, the situation exploded. The prisoner lunged, the guards moved, and the room became a whirlwind of motion. Mark reacted on instinct, drawing his sidearm. Simultaneously, the secure perimeter outside the building was breached. The task force, alerted by Mark’s pre-arranged distress signal (a subtly off-script word during his conversation), descended on the area.
A full-blown gun battle erupted. Shouts, the crack of gunfire, shattering glass – the sounds of chaos ripped through the air. Mark found himself in the thick of it, firing, moving, trying to locate friendly forces while identifying hostiles. Through the smoke and confusion, he saw him: Agent Damon Drew, an older but earnest agent on the team, caught in the direct line of fire. Damon went down, a crimson stain blossoming on his chest.
Mark didn't hesitate. He reached Damon, pulling him to cover, yelling for medics. He applied pressure to the wound, his hands slick with blood, his mind screaming. He rode in the ambulance with Damon, holding his hand, urging him to stay with him, the sirens wailing a desperate lament.
Hours later, the sterile waiting room of the hospital was a stark contrast to the violence they had just escaped. Nathan, Amber, and a few other agents sat in grim silence, their faces etched with anxiety. Mark paced, the throbbing in his head a relentless drumbeat, each beat echoing his growing guilt.
Finally, the surgeon emerged, his scrubs still stained, his face drawn. He looked at them, then specifically at Mark and Nathan. "We did everything we could," he began, his voice heavy. "He lost too much blood. The damage was too extensive. Agent Drew... he died on the table."
The words hung in the air, cold and definitive. Mark felt the bottom drop out of his world. Damon. A good man, and he had just lost his son. And Mark had been the one who led him into this, whose recklessness, whose mission, had put him in the crossfire. The guilt was a physical weight, pressing down on his chest, suffocating him. His head throbbed with an intensity that threatened to shatter his skull, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the agony of knowing Damon was gone, and he was still here.
The weight of Damon Drew's death pressed on Mark like a physical burden. Guilt, sharp and relentless, gnawed at him, eclipsing even the throbbing in his head. He replayed the gun battle endlessly, searching for a moment, a decision, anything he could have done differently to save the agent.
A few days later, Nathan called the team together. His face was somber, but his voice held a quiet strength. "Damon's widow, Cora, has agreed to come in and speak with us," he announced, his gaze sweeping over the grim faces of the agents. "She wants to thank you all."
The air in the briefing room was thick with unspoken grief and shared responsibility when Cora Drew walked in. She was younger than Mark expected, her eyes red-rimmed but clear, her posture surprisingly composed. She looked at each of them, her gaze lingering on Mark for a moment before she began to speak.
"I know you all feel this," she said, her voice steady, though a tremor ran through it. "The guilt. The 'what ifs.' But I need you to know something. Damon… he loved this job. He believed in what you all do. He believed in protecting people, in making a difference." She paused, taking a shaky breath. "He died doing what he loved. He died protecting his country. Please, don't let his memory be burdened by your guilt. Honor him by continuing the fight."
Her words, intended to offer solace, twisted the knife in Mark's gut. He died doing what he loved. Mark met her eyes across the room, a silent, sorrowful apology passing between them. He saw her pain, her strength, and the profound loss that mirrored his own burgeoning fear. Damon had died, and Mark was still here, with a ticking bomb in his head, and a reckless drive to keep fighting.
Meanwhile, back home, the anxious waiting for news from Johns Hopkins had been a constant, low hum beneath the surface of my grief for Damon. Every time my phone buzzed, my heart leaped. On Tuesday morning, it finally happened. An email, with the Johns Hopkins logo prominently displayed. My hands trembled as I opened it.
The subject line read: "Regarding Mr. Mark Meachum – Patient Acceptance."
My breath hitched. I scanned the first few lines, my eyes blurring with tears of relief and a renewed surge of hope. They had reviewed his records. They had discussed his case. And they were willing to take him on as a patient. They wanted to schedule an initial consultation, a comprehensive evaluation, to explore all potential treatment options.
I immediately called Mark, my voice choked with emotion. "Mark," I managed, tears streaming down my face, "It's Johns Hopkins. They said yes. They're taking you on."
The line was silent for a moment, then I heard his ragged breath. "They... they did?" His voice was raw, disbelieving.
"Yes," I confirmed, a sob escaping me. "We're going, Mark. We're going to Maryland. We're going to fight this."
The news, arriving amidst the heavy cloud of Damon's death, was a lifeline. A glimmer of light in the overwhelming darkness. It was a chance, a tangible step forward, a reason to believe that the promises we had made to each other, to live and love, might actually have a fighting chance.
Mark walked into Nathan's office, the weight of Damon's death still heavy on his shoulders, but now intertwined with a fragile thread of hope. "Nathan," he began, his voice firmer than it had been in days. "I need a few days off. Family emergency."
Nathan leaned back in his chair, his gaze sharp and knowing. He studied Mark's face, the faint shadows under his eyes, the residual tension in his jaw, despite the newfound glint of determination. He saw through the "family emergency" excuse, recognizing the profound shift in Mark's demeanor. He knew it was deeper than the immediate grief for Damon, sensing the underlying turmoil that had plagued Mark since his return.
"A few days?" Nathan asked, his voice low, but without accusation. "In the middle of this? After... after what happened with Drew?"
"Yes," Mark replied, meeting his gaze squarely. "It's critical. I wouldn't ask otherwise."
Nathan sighed, running a hand over his tired face. "Alright, Mark. I'll cover for you. We're stretched thin, but you're no good to us if you're not fully present." He paused, his expression serious. "But know this, Mark. When you come back, I expect you to tell me what's going on. All of it. We're a team, and I'm your friend. You can't keep carrying everything yourself."
Mark nodded, a flicker of gratitude in his eyes. "I will, Nathan. Thank you."
He turned and left, a sense of urgency propelling him.
The flight to Maryland was a mixture of nervous anticipation and a fragile, burgeoning hope. I held Mark's hand almost constantly, occasionally squeezing it, a silent promise that we were in this together. The thought of Johns Hopkins, a place of medical miracles, filled my heart and soul with a hope so potent it almost brought tears to my eyes.
We arrived at the sprawling medical complex, a stark contrast to Dr. Albright's small, dismissive office. The atmosphere was different immediately. The staff were kind, compassionate, and efficient. They guided us through the intake process with a quiet respect that was a balm to our frayed nerves.
Finally, we were ushered into an examination room, and Dr. Aris Thorne entered. He was everything Dr. Albright wasn't: calm, attentive, and genuinely empathetic. He spent a full hour just talking to Mark, listening to his history, the details of the explosion, the escalating pain, and even the emotional toll of his job. He then reviewed Mark's existing records with a meticulous eye, often murmuring notes to himself.
"Based on these initial scans, Detective Meachum, the swelling is indeed significant, as your local doctor noted," Dr. Thorne explained, pointing to the familiar images on a larger screen. "It's putting pressure on the surrounding brain tissue, which accounts for the intensified headaches."
But unlike Dr. Albright, he didn't stop there. "However," he continued, "we'd like to order a new battery of tests. We have some advanced imaging techniques here, including specific MRI sequences and functional MRIs, that can give us a much more detailed picture of the tumor's exact boundaries, its metabolic activity, and its relationship to critical brain functions. Sometimes, a different angle, a more granular look, can reveal possibilities that weren't apparent before."
The next day was a whirlwind of tests. Mark endured scans, blood draws, and neurological assessments, his stoicism barely wavering. I stayed by his side through it all, offering quiet encouragement, a constant reminder that he wasn't alone.
Then came the follow-up meeting with Dr. Thorne. He sat us down, his expression serious but also, for the first time, held a glimmer of hope.
"Mark, Y/N," he began, looking from one of us to the other. "We've reviewed all the new imaging. And while the situation is undoubtedly complex given the tumor's location near the brainstem, we believe we do have a treatment plan."
My breath hitched. Mark's hand, resting on his knee, clenched into a fist.
"It's aggressive, and it carries risks, as any intervention in this area would," Dr. Thorne continued, his voice steady. "But our team believes that a very targeted approach, using stereotactic radiosurgery, specifically Gamma Knife, could be a viable option. It allows for extremely precise radiation delivery, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. We'd follow that with a low-dose, highly personalized chemotherapy regimen designed to prevent recurrence and manage any remaining microscopic cells. It won't be easy. The side effects will be challenging, and recovery will be a long road. But we believe it offers the best chance for long-term remission and to alleviate the pressure causing these debilitating headaches."
He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in. "We believe we can fight this, Mark. And win."
Mark's grip on my hand tightened, a squeeze that conveyed a torrent of unspoken emotion. His eyes, which had held a silent, weary resignation for so long, now flickered with a raw, undeniable hope. "How soon?" he asked, his voice a low, urgent whisper directed at Dr. Thorne. "How soon can we start?"
My own hope, which had been a fragile bud since the initial email, now bloomed fully in my chest, a warm, overwhelming flood. But amidst the relief, my practical side kicked in. This was a plan, but not a guaranteed cure.
"Dr. Thorne," I began, my voice steady despite the tremor in my hands. "What are the risks of this stereotactic radiosurgery? And if it works... what's the prognosis? What does 'long-term remission' truly mean for Mark?"
Dr. Thorne nodded, his expression acknowledging our profound relief while maintaining his professional composure. "Let's be clear, this is still a serious procedure. The risks, while significantly reduced compared to traditional surgery, include temporary brain swelling which could worsen the headaches initially, fatigue, and in rare cases, more severe neurological deficits depending on the precise area. That's why the pre-operative imaging is so crucial – to map everything down to the millimeter and minimize these risks."
He paused, looking directly at Mark, then at me. "As for prognosis, 'long-term remission' means precisely what it sounds like: the goal is to significantly shrink the tumor and, ideally, eliminate its activity. This isn't a cure in the sense of completely eradicating every single rogue cell, but it aims to render the glioma inactive and harmless, preventing its growth and the pressure it exerts. Many patients achieve excellent quality of life post-treatment, with a vastly reduced risk of recurrence. We'll monitor you closely with regular MRI scans, but the aim is for you to live a full, normal life, free from the constant threat of this tumor."
A quiet, almost reverent silence fell over the room. "A full, normal life." The words hung in the air, a future we had barely dared to dream of since the initial diagnosis. Mark squeezed my hand again, this time with a joyful force, his eyes meeting mine, reflecting the bright, blossoming hope that now filled us both.

LOVE IN MY DARK HEART
bård “ faust ” eithun x reader
- general dating headcanons for bård!
my favourite drummer boy! reader is slightly referenced to be shorter than bård because i think a majority of people are but if you are not, i am super sorry! this is kind of a bit throuple-y with vegard but not really <3
- view my metal masterlist here
reading music recommendations: the moors of death by urgehal - death to planet earth by craft

- bård really gives me the vibe of someone who would just be absolutely obsessed with his partner, no one else matters to him except you!
✩ like he is just so obsessed with you and quite literally everything you do…
- applying your lipstick? or chapstick? he is watching you like a hawk with such obvious love and admiration swirling around in his big brown eyes
✩ your freshly applied lip cosmetic does not last very long before he is making a complete mess out of it with his own lips pressed against yours, most of the pigmented lipstick transfers from your lips onto his own which makes you chuckle quietly before quickly grabbing a makeup wipe to help him clean it off
“ get this shit off of me, please… love you ” ( he swears he hates your lipstick but whenever he has been making out with you in helvete and someone points out the residue on his lips, he smirks so big, wearing it almost like a mark of pride )
- painting your nails? he is giving you his own slightly shy but honest opinion on what colour to do them and spoiler alert: it is almost always black or crimson red
✩ he just loves his partner so much… he loves everything about you, everything you do and everything you say…
- some of his friends might give him flack for being so obviously smitten with you but he takes one look over at you and it is like, how could he not be smitten with you?
✩ so he really never lets those comments get to him, he knows you are worth being smitten for, knows you are worth obsessing over
- bård absolutely loves when you come to his band practices for emperor with him, he always gently pulls you by your hands to make you sit on his lap and hold his can of coke whilst he plays the drums, his hands drifting up your thighs between short breaks and lips pressing soft kisses on your shoulder
✩ you probably become very close with vegard and tomas! the four of you almost always going out to grab take out together after a concert, you wearing your boyfriends leather jacket, their corpse paint smudged beyond belief as you offer to fix it up for them whilst waiting on your food
- dare i say you and bård have even had a couple half drunk threesomes with vegard? vegard is kind of the only other person bård would trust to treat you right in bed, to treat you as well as he himself does
✩ but anyways… let us just move on from that for now…
- whenever you are anywhere with bård, you are almost guaranteed to be sitting comfortably on his lap with one of his hands drawing an assortment of patterns on your back whilst the other rests on your thigh as he talks to your shared group of friends about upcoming concerts
✩ bård is not super into really crazy pda but when in helvete, he will gladly make out with you! he feels comfortable in helvete, feels comfortable with how quiet the store usually is, quiet when it comes to people anyways! bård is a little more reserved when out and about on the streets of oslo but he will always have at least one hand somewhere on your body wether it be his hand holding yours tightly or an arm wrapped around you with his hand holding your shoulder or hip
- because bård is so much taller than you, you likely have to stand up on your tippy toes and he has to bend down quite a bit just to be able to kiss properly which becomes just a little bit annoying for the both of you at times
✩ this is why he prefers to make out with you in helvete because there, he can just help you up to sit atop the counter, making it much less of a stretch for both you and him
- whenever øystein sees this happening, he is always overly peeved, feeling like he has to beat you both away with a broom because you will “ scare off his customers ” as if worse things do not happen in the grimy basement…
✩ bård always just throws a small yet almost sly smirk in his direction before simply helping you down and motioning you over to his slightly more secluded little corner
- bård is certainly very possessive of you! whenever you are at a concert together and he sees someone eyeing you a little too much for his liking, he is quick to make it known to them that you are all his, albeit a little nervously
✩ usually he does this by getting very grabby with you or just tilting your face up to him by your chin and shoving his tongue into your mouth, sloppy open mouth making out right in their line of sight, bård gets a major boost of confidence when jealous and possessive…
- by the time you are done and he looks up, he finds that the person is long gone, much to his relief!
✩ you guys have so many pictures together that were taken in photo booths! they almost completely cover the fridge door in your shared apartment
- most of them are very sweet, sharing soft kisses, lips pressed together with your hand gently holding his blushing cheek and some of them are slightly risqué, his hands pulling your shirt up to reveal your lacey bra to the camera just as it flashes with a cheeky grin on his face whilst you laugh up a storm… you briefly forget that the pictures are printed on the outside, where anyone walking by could see them… it is only then that you smack him on the shoulder and quickly leave the booth to grab the strip of pictures
✩ more often than not, you are the one who paints his face for him!
- you will straddle his lap, forcing him to keep his hands on your hips because you do not want to mess it up over him grabbing your ass or squeezing your hips…
✩ bård is always impressed by how much better his corpse paint turns out when you do it and soon enough, vegard is asking you if you’d be able to do his before emperor concerts too
- bård is not an insanely romantic person but for you, he really tries his best!
✩ he takes you on a date whenever he can afford it with the small pay checks he receives, usually just taking you shopping for whatever you want to buy and then walking around a local cemetery, hand in hand as you talk quietly about music and movies, before sitting down on one of the wood benches as you smother him in kisses as a thank you
- he really pretends to just be so irritated but anyone with working eyes can see he is so obviously actually loving the affection from you
“ okay… yes, baby, i know, you’re welcome… your lipstick is all over my face, i know it… ” ( it is indeed all over his face )
✩ whenever you get really drunk at a party or concert, bård will gladly carry you home on his back whilst pausing every now and again to let you off and hold your hair back as you vomit…
- you love watching horror movies together! wether it be cuddled up in his little corner in helvete or curled up in bed at your shared apartment
✩ bård is really eerily quiet whilst watching them but his hand is usually playing with your hair, gently twirling it around his fingers which usually lulls you to sleep in his arms
- i just know bård is so loud in bed, he is not at all afraid to make his pleasure known… when you two first got together, he was definitely way more on the shy and insecure side about it but after a while, after he fully realised that you like it when he moans, he does not hold back anymore…
✩ your neighbours hate the two of you so much and have absolutely filed a noise complaint due to the near constant blaring black metal music and loud moaning ringing out through their walls whenever you’re home
- bård claims they are obviously jealous and hey, he is probably right! he just thinks they are jealous that he has such a beautiful partner who he gets to bone all night <3

not in the way that can be fixed with a couple of days off or a visit to the doctor’s office. no, his condition is far more complex—something that lingers under his skin, makes his heart race at the slightest glance, and causes his palms to sweat uncontrollably every time he’s near you. it’s a sickness of the heart, slow-burning, and entirely humiliating.
and the worst part? you’re his lab partner.
three times a week, he’s trapped beside you in that small, sterile space where every shift of your body, every glance in his direction, sends his nerves into overdrive. you stand there, focused and graceful, your hands moving deftly as you manipulate test tubes, writing calculations down on the whiteboard as you speak softly to yourself, and every time, he pretends to be fine. but really? he feels like he might combust any moment.
it started small—just a little lightheadedness whenever you walked into the room, an occasional shortness of breath if you so much as glanced in his direction. normal symptoms of something, right? maybe low blood sugar. maybe he needed more sleep.
but then it got worse.
every moment near you felt like his chest was constricting, every glance exchanged left him breathless. he swore his heart was going to burst through his ribs one day if this didn’t stop.
and now? every time you pass him a piece of equipment or your fingers brush against his by accident, his body freezes in a mix of panic and longing. he genuinely can’t tell whether he’s going to faint or spontaneously combust.
no, this isn’t normal. he’s not sure what to call it, but it’s definitely not just his nerves anymore.
"you need to get a grip," anton says, barely glancing up from his phone, not even aware of the monumental inner turmoil his friend is facing.
sohee groans, his face falling into his arms. "no, i need a doctor. preferably one who specializes in mortal diseases.”
anton doesn’t even blink. “you need to stop acting like you're dying every time you see them. it’s... embarrassing."
sohee pushes his face harder into his arms. "you don’t understand," he mutters, barely able to say the words aloud. “i am dying."
anton snorts, shaking his head. "that's one way to say you got a crush."
sohee’s head jerks up as he glares at his friend, a mix of frustration and desperation flashing in his eyes. "don’t you dare pity me."
anton shrugs, unfazed. "you're down bad, man."
sohee lets out another tortured groan. he’s always known it was bad, but today? today, he’s had enough. he’s going to do something about it.
his plan is simple.
step 1: wait until class ends, and everyone clears out so it’s just the two of you left in the lab, the space echoing with quiet after the chaos of students rushing out. step 2: say something charming—something that’ll make you see him as more than just sohee, the guy who can’t seem to hold it together whenever you’re around. step 3: confess. clearly. smoothly. like a guy who knows exactly what he’s doing.
in his head, it goes a little bit like this:
"hey, can i talk to you for a second?"
"i know this might be out of nowhere, but i really like you."
"i don’t expect anything, but i wanted to be honest—because every time i see you, i feel like my heart is running a marathon, and it’s getting exhausting pretending i’m not affected by you."
it’s perfect. it’s foolproof.
it’s also completely impossible to say out loud.
ʚɞ
“sohee, can you pass me the flask?”
your voice—soft and easy, like you don’t even realize the effect it has on him—cuts through the chaos in his mind.
he blinks, suddenly aware of the fact that he’s standing by the counter, holding a flask like his life depends on it. his hands are shaking. his throat is dry. his brain is a foggy mess, completely locked down by the pressure of having you so close, looking at him with that focused, calm expression.
“oh—uh, yeah.” he fumbles with the flask for a moment, almost dropping it before handing it to you. his chest tightens, heart thundering in his ears, like it’s trying to escape his body.
say it. just say it.
his breath catches. “hey—”
and there it is. the perfect opportunity.
but the words? they get stuck in his throat, tangled in a web of fear, nervousness, and pure panic. it feels like a truck slams into him. his heart is beating too fast. his palms are sweating.
"i like you."
no. too blunt. too desperate.
"i think you’re amazing, and i’d like to take you out sometime."
no, that sounds like he’s asking for a job interview. too formal. too stiff.
"every time i see you, i feel like i’m on fire, and it’s driving me insane."
no. no. what the hell was he trying to say?
his brain shuts down completely, and his mouth moves before he can stop it. and then, in the most soul-crushing, life-ruining moment of his entire existence, the words leave his mouth—
“i think i have constipation.”
a deep silence follows.
sohee’s body goes rigid with embarrassment. he feels his face burn as if it’s been set on fire. oh my god. did he really just say that?
you stare at him. blink once. twice.
and then, out of nowhere, you laugh.
it’s not a little giggle. it’s not even a chuckle. it’s a full-on, head-thrown-back kind of laughter, like the world’s funniest joke has just been told to you. your hands grip the edge of the sink as you try to catch your breath, body shaking as you try to contain your laughter.
"sohee," you gasp, between fits of laughter, shaking your head. "that was... insane."
he groans, sinking his face into his hands. "i know. i know."
your laughter settles, and you look at him, an amused smirk tugging at the corner of your lips. "wow," you tease, your voice teasing, but still light. "that’s gotta be the worst crush confession i’ve ever heard."
sohee freezes, heart stopping for a brief second. “that wasn’t a confession—”
but before he can finish, you step a little closer, your eyes still twinkling with amusement. “oh, really?”
his brain completely shorts out. he can’t think. he can’t speak. he’s lost. completely overwhelmed by the warmth of your smile, the closeness of your body—because in that moment, instead of feeling humiliated, he feels something he didn’t expect:
hope.
outside the lab, anton’s loud, echoing laugh filters through the door. “somebody get this man some fiber!”
sohee slumps against the counter. great. he’s never going to live this down.
but when you nudge his arm and say, “hey. if you ever wanna try that confession again… i wouldn’t mind hearing it,” sohee believes he’s dreaming cause there’s no way you’d give him another chance after fumbling so bad in front of you, but the sweet smile on your face is all he needs for reassurance.
maybe not all is a lost cause, he thinks.
