Ch2

It's been two weeks since you arrived here. Two weeks you have spent with this Carlton Drake who insisted on just being refferred to as "Carls". And so, that is who he was, he was Carls. Carls was a lot differnt from Carlton. He and Eddie Brock, the one from here, were actually the best of friends, lifelong friends. They had lunch together several times a week, and dinner out once a week. There was also the fact that this Eddie also had a symbiote but he got it because someone who worked for Carls was doing all kinds of bad things that the guys werent exactly letting you in on. In fact, Eddie hadnt even directly told you about it, you were just smart enough to figure it out and know; and Carls whole reaosn for his work was care for Eddie and the symbiote, and ensure all of those who had it were okay and to learn more. He was very humane, unlike his ex employee.

You had been taking notes, making observances, at this point filled several notebooks with your findings. You also had a notebook that was specifically your journal, a diary of sorts.

Since arriving you found yourself falling for Carls, just as with Carlton, but also Eddie. You think they felt the same, well, you knew. Both had already asked you out and now you were trying to figure out what to do with that situation. Unable to decide, you tell them both you would go. You tell yourself that it is just two simple dates, that is all.

Following through on your word you go with them. Tonight was Eddie. Eddie, who had already kissed you once. It was from excitement and spur of the moment when you said yes to his inquiry. You honestly had to giggle at how cute it was. You had heard through his conversations with Carls at dinner that he needs to get out of a slump and he was one of the nicest people so you were happy to say yes, not to mention he was a sight for sore eyes.

Arriving at the resteraunt he had chosen you scan the tables for him and he holds his hand up in a wave. "Y/N! Y/N! She is with me," he tells the host who just gestures with his head for you to go on.

"Eddie, wow, fancy place...."

"Nah, it was Valentine's Day"

"That is today?" You had either completely forgotten or just hadnt grown accustomed to the differnce in times between your earth and reality and this one. Except for here, here Carlton-Carls was still alive and you could definetly get used to spending every day with him if you hadnt already.

"Yeah. Happy Valentine's Day and Thankyou for being my Valentine," he kisses your hand.

"You dont have to thank me, I thankyou. So, that thing....that you and Carls are always up to in the labs....what is it?"

"Uh.....," he rubs his neck. "Just....science stuff....yknow," he smiles nervously.

"Right....science stuff....," you nod.

".........Eddie....I am really sorry....I need to go." You kiss his cheek and leave.

If he couldnt trust you, could you trust him?

That's what you thought as you made your way back to the labs and the portal which you took time into account and waited for it to open, grabbing your notebooks you step through and arrive back on your earth.

"Y/N!" Your coworker seems excited to see you, "we thought you were staying for good!"

You had her the notebooks, "I might be....at least for a while......open the portal again in exactly two weeks....," with that you step back through and leave the labs for home.

Home, which currently in this reality was Carls' roommate, he insisted when you arrived. After a few days he insisted you also share his bed. After a week he had began spooning you in his sleep.

Right at this moment, you felt guilty. Had you hurt Eddie unintentionally? Why didnt he trust you? Did either of them?

Feeling exhaustion overwhelm you, you drift off to sleep on the couch in the living room, the dream that came to you wasnt of Carlton Drake as they had been for so long, it was about Carls....and Eddie.....

"Shit....," you sit up and wipe your face the next morning before heading off to work.

"Y/N, beautiful....are you alright love?" Carls tips his head, concern filling those eyes of his.

"......just, have things on my mind is all..."

He pats his knee and you hesitantly take a seat on his lap. "I am here if you need me," he says sweetly and kisses your head. You didnt feel awkward, or harrased, you only felt love; not neccesarily romantic but possibly all the same.

"Right, here is the schedule for the week," you give it to him.

"Y/N....you didnt come to bed last night...."

".....I was just exhausted, crashed on the couch...."

He nods and smiles, you are unsure what it is but it looks sad. "You forgot something," he says, smiling again but now genuinely.

"What?" You,look over the schedule, you didnt miss anything. He takes his pen and jots down, "date <3" on Wednesday, "like we planned"

"Right," you have to chuckle, "dont want to,let the boss down"

"That isnt why youre doing it, is it?" He sounds concerned.

"Wah-no, no. I want to, really," you assure him as you stand. "Okay, I'll be at my desk," you tell him as you leave the office.
