i.

The very first of Asclepius’ visions happen while he daydreams atop the tallest building in Amaurot.

Oh, indeed, he is trespassing, yet how can he pass up such an opportunity to behold a city he loves at a viewpoint that most would be envious of? Of course, he imagines Eris only wishes him to be punished for leading her astray many years ago, but ‘tis an offer he thought would bear fruit larger than the labour to be had.

He dozes off there, bathed in the night sky, and the vision wraps him in its warm embrace.

Asclepius stands in a field. The sun beams down on him. It is astoundingly hot. One of the cities north, perhaps, somewhere he has not ventured before.

Voices nearby. None of which are familiar. Asclepius turns and sees two moving towards him. One wears attire beneficial for avoiding discomfort in this rigid heat, donning a hood. The other is clearly of the Convocation, judging by the mask. The Seat of… Azem?

Asclepius cannot perceive the words. It is as if they pass through water, indiscernible, the moment it reaches his ears. He waves to them, but they do not see him. How strange.  

He feels at ease, though, as if his purpose here is only to observe. The hooded one is largely uninteresting, considering how they hide so. Azem, however, talks with vibrant animation in their gestures and words, if the jovial tone of their incomprehensible voice is anything to go by. He thinks he will remember the colour of their soul.

Asclepius watches them for an unknown amount of time, familiarizing himself with their countenance. He’s certain the one that holds the seat of Azem is a woman. Venat, he thinks, though that thought is swiftly scoured by the heat.

Asclepius wakes suddenly. The night blankets him still. He sits up. Amaurot lays before him, beautiful and slow and shrouded.

A smile of wonder curves his lips. Oh, just wait until Eris hears this.

ii.

Asclepius has never bothered to hone his soul sight. Instead, the arts of healing and medicines took his fancy rather swiftly, fixating on it with a passion that often led him to lock himself many a time in libraries.

His visions have not bothered him since years past; indeed, they have only comprised of different aspects of Etheirys, unremarkably observing the landscapes absent of anyone in sight. Even the vestiges of his last vision, one of an erupting volcano, did not seem to indicate much importance.

And so, he had deemed them whimsical dreams despite how vividly such environments and emotions have painted themselves ‘pon his mind. Until…

A familiar visage, accompanied by two others. Asclepius recognizes Azem immediately, though it is still Venat. Rumours speak of her predecessor, Aether, though as Asclepius finds out, it is not the same person he saw in his first vision. That person, however, lingers with the first two, the colour of his soul vibrant and strangely… nice to Asclepius.

Asclepius blinks, letting his soul sight fade to the back of his mind. How automatically it rose from a dormant thought at the sight of the familiar stranger. He wonders what their name is.

Still, they are not currently Azem. Whatever his visions are, they are not prophetical after all. Well, at least he has these books to tide him over on the disappointing revelation. He rather doubts Eris will spare him of her teasing once she finds out.

Asclepius turns back to his books, mentally dismissing the matter and deciding not to worry over it again. He does not notice the stranger glance over at him.

iii.

Aion is his name.

Asclepius dreams of him more than a few times now. He denies still they are of the future, for they have shown him nothing of import, but upon catching wind of these visions, Eris feels more than happy to stage a first meeting. Now, somehow Asclepius is friends with him. He’s not had one other than Eris, as ever more recluse Asclepius has become through his obsessive endeavours in medicine and healing, but Aion seems to welcome him with open arms.

One of the few moments they share, when words are not yet needed, are on fields far from the city. Asclepius thinks he recognizes it from one of his visions, but he does not try to recall it. Instead, he’ll bask in the peace brought with simply watching Aion go through simple, striking movements with different weapons of choice. The literature on medicines lays on his lap, all but forgotten.

iv.

Eris returns to the star.

Aion takes the Seat of Azem.

The visions get stronger, weaving a tale of the end times.

He’s offered the Seat of Emmerololth. He avoids the responsibility and flees.

Asclepius does not know for certain what’s real or not sometimes. His foresight, as it turns out, is quite the burden, and very, very invasive of his rest. They scorch his senses, feel as real as if he lives in the falling sky, as if he is losing the world he loves, as if his brethren are truly dying around him.

But then sometimes there are quiet moments, which are what Asclepius clings to. Moments of Amaurot, where the city bustles, and he sits there idly with a book on swordsmanship. Smaller pockets, still, of happiness where he dreams of the past when Eris is still with him, still smiling and holding his hand through everything.

Then there are rarer dreams, ones of Aion. Travelling, seeing the world, excelling at being Azem. Asclepius likes these the most. At least when he wakes, he is not shaken with the grief from absence. No, instead he can feel as if he’s there with Aion, both watching but also experiencing the world through his eyes.

He’s envious, but he’s not sure exactly what of.

This time, Aion watches him.

Asclepius falters, of course. This is not how things are meant to be. Aion shines much brighter, after all, and Asclepius has never been one to have any such attention on himself, no matter how confident he seems, no matter how forward he pushes himself to be to others.

So he tries to show off as best he can: the swordsmanship he has learned through the years, the effort he has put into this particular art. He weaves his sword through the air, breathing evenly, allowing his feet to guide a familiar path. It’s more calming than he thinks it is.

Asclepius finishes and bows. When Asclepius looks at Aion, the pleasure in Aion’s eyes is much clearer than it ever was in visions. The way he talks—praises—is not muffled. The smile curving his lips does not fade from Asclepius’ memory so easily.

He hopes, suddenly, Aion will take Asclepius on his next adventure. He thinks he would prefer seeing Aion in person rather than a muddled dream.

     gosh ive been asked a lot of hc questions about allan by kuro and kim which i really appreciate and cannot thank them enough for T__T and i wanna document a bit more on allan’s secret abilities. honestly its very obvious on what it is by now (not so much the origins, but what its based off of), but first!! a bit of astrologian lore then ill get into it.

     we know that each arcana represents heavens 1-6 that an astrologian can call upon and access, and essentially peer into the brief future of those around them. using the bole, for example, consults that heaven to determine the best possible future and triggering it nudges their future into a favourable one (using the arcana as a guide is p important bc there are just far too many possibilities for an astrologian to consider and it can become overwhelming). accessing the seventh heaven would push an astrologian’s body beyond their mortal limits and could result in their death if attempted. however, this is possible when they draw upon the aether of those around them to temporarily access the seventh heaven and grant a miracle to their allies. this is otherwise known as limit break 3.

     allan’s secret ability, among other things, allows him to access the seventh heaven without the aid of others around him. this doesn’t come without consequence, though: it severely drains him (basically will coma him depending on where in his timeline he uses it) and his life span, and his body takes a while to recover from it. in his lifetime, he can use it 2-3 times before his body just gives up and he dies. so he can come in handy in a very clutch situation, just at a great personal cost to himself.

     which is!!! why he is so funny to play LKJASKLFj he starts chaotic neutral but after development his alignment very much depends on the influences/actions/experiences of the stronger personalities in his verses. so if he becomes more selfish and morally bad, then he ain’t touchin this lb3 thing to save another person’s life, no thank you alkjslfkj. however, he can become inspired to use this ability if he’s influenced by a close, morally good person to do it for them (both by request and if the situation calls for it and/or if something otherwise doesn’t dissuade him from it).

     its just so entertaining to me that allan has/can get so many abilities that can be used to help other people and save them but it really just depends on his development in a verse. like. i said it before but LKJASKLfj he is once again a blue sidequest that’s completely missable LKJASLKFj and he can be wholly influenced by others, WoL or otherwise, and im cry lkJALKSfj he’s just a slutty paper bag in a storm im sorry LJALKFSJf

okay this has been stuck in my head but i wanted to do some slider stuff for my blorbos on this Definitely single muse blog lkJALKSFJ

basically its a scale rating for how good/bad morally each of them are (for my own amusement lajksklfj). it'd go smth like:

1 = goodest bestest squiggly v lovely would help others in need

5 = p neutral tbh literally vibing

10 = the worst the baddest they are in the naughty corner they cause problems on purpose lkJALKSFj

this is a p horrendous scale and v verse-dependent and situational and there's much more to their moral compass than this but. anyway:

allan is p firmly a 6 when he first starts out in hw, post-sharlayan banishment! he's v much the type to look out for himself and bc of his past experiences he does have a bit of a predisposition towards being a baddie (like, during sharlayan stuff he'd be a 3-4 ;; he was Nicer but... yeah lkajskf). obvsly he can change but he still tends to hold the ideal of 'to achieve something, one must do whatever they must', even when he begins skewing towards a good alignment T__T there's a lot more nuance to this but i will shut up here before i keep rambling lJLKASJF.

asclepius is a Good Bean... how did allan stray so far... LJASKLFJ he's v much a 1 on the scale hhhhh. while he does tend to hermit a lot and go off on his own/keep to himself, he will absolutely help ppl in need ;; he's a true healer, one of the best back in ancient times (though not very many knew about it), and if he ever came across ppl needing help in his travels or whenever he came back to amaurot, he'd absolutely do what he could to solve their problems! even better if they required a healer bc he's there and done and dusted lkjalksfj. however, due to his visions, he kinda gets a bit more hopeless so he tends to give up easier since his visions have mostly come true thus far. so like... if there's any situation where he neglects, its not bc he's bad, its bc he thinks he can't rlly do shit lkjaslkfj.

selene is... heh. like, u wouldn't be able to guess it initially, but she's... weirdly a skew of 4-6. she has no more family, no close friends, she's vibing on her own if she doesn't have someone to truly care for. she loves eulmore, but after realizing how shitty it truly is, she's v much in an 'idgaf' mood lkjalksfj so she ends up looking out for herself. she can be a good person... but she can also be a bad person if u kno what i mean LKJLAKJSF

naila is uhhh. i don't need to spell it out do i LKJASKLFJ. v much a 100000000000—

asclepius 2.0 is vibing. i did initially wanna yeet him into a 5 but he's actually... a good bean. sorta. he's a 2-3. he won't actively search for ppl in need, but he will do his best to aid ppl who need it if they're in the immediate vicinity. he will do Some Good to help ease his depresso.

mahalina... my bby... my angel. she's also such a Good Bean at a 1. even if she faces a lot of pressure from her mother, she's v much someone who will actively help people if she hears even a whiff about it. like... she is bitter about being 'forced' to be perfect, but that's only bc she's not allowed to be more like herself. when her brother disappeared, it was a catalyst to her becoming more like herself and standing up to her mother. she didn't want to be stuck in sharlayan, which chose to be neutral, she wanted to go out there and do some Good while searching for her brother, which is exactly what she did.

allan is an original NPC! the easiest way to look at him is as a blue sidequest giver LKJASLKFj completely missable, u get like. idk a handshake or a kees on the cheek (or more) LKJASKLFj but he does have a backstory that helps lend darker elements to plotting. its v flexible too in how light or dark it can get to make sure i don’t go too heavy with my rp partner if that’s not what they prefer. that being said, i did mention i love dark themes, so hmu if that’s what ur interested in!!  also love to explore deeper plots connected to my rp partner’s muse too!!

Brief History:

Not much is known about his earlier life. However, he lived in Sharlayan for a significant amount of time as a low profile arcanist.

Was secretly banished from Sharlayan for [redacted].

Went to Ishgard since he had some contacts there, making it easier to hide from [redacted]. However, due to starting over completely and relying on those contacts, he owes a major amount of debt that he pays off with his special ability, [redacted].

At some point during this, he becomes an Astrologian.

After the Dragonsong War, he travelled around more often, figuring it's safe to do so after the time he spent in Ishgard. He still revisits Ishgard to deal with his remaining few debts every so often.

the person that summoned Naila into the Source swiftly met an end when they prepared horrendously poorly for her arrival. Now Naila runs around in their body. 

she doesn’t necessarily need aether considering she’s in the Source, but she still has a craving for it. 

she only wants to have fun; she found the Thirteenth boring and dull but the Source? The Source is full of people she can play with to her heart’s content. 

recently, she’s caught a whiff of aether so enticing, so delicious that she’s can’t quite bring herself to think about anything else.
