apparently rugrats is my 'background noise to work and cope to' show for today, and yknow what, some of the dialogue they gave the adults in this show is REALLY funny
#banebabbles#watching rugrats as an adult is like. kind of boring but also fun#it's perfect for just letting it run in the bg#but yeah the adults are obviously a lot funnier now that i'm older and get a lot of the nuanced jokes#it's nothing crazy just charming bc like. how do i say this#rugrats is a great show to watch that makes you think 'oh yeah that's right. grown ass adults MADE this'#it's a show for very young kids but also adults still made it and it shows#yknow i never thought so deeply about it. but rugrats really is an interesting case#because it puts such a fair amount of focus on the adults. more than most shows that focus on toddler-age kids usually do#conjuring up a comparison and craig of the creek comes to mind first. that show has SOME focus on adults in key eps#but largely if the show is About The Kids then you don't get much w the adults outside of particular eps#vs rugrats where they are writing the adults just as often as the kids in most eps#i think that's really interesting and i wonder if that's why rugrats had such a particular popularity and staying power
