sorry for the awkward cropping i was frantically trying to screenshot because this episode was SOOOOOOO FUCKING GOOD and then i was like this could work for one of my muses :) so i have an excuse to share it yippeeee and then i was like i don't even know who. but i don't use twitter much anymore and i have to put this somewhere so i'm just saying this is muse inspo for anyone who wants it. watch 0079 gundam. thanx
#amuro fighting bc its the only thing he's any good at or gets any praise for bc he has no family or real meaningful connections now#vs lalah who fights only for char#and amuro and lalah realize they are the only two ppl like each other in the world and form a connection and then its immediately severed.#making amuro wonder what he's doing or what the point of it all is. Again....smile...#first the gundam was the weapon that allowed for children to be brought into warfare. now its weaponizing humans themselves....#its a matter of time before i put a gundam character on this blog like fr. god#ooc.

Having such a brain rot over this shot, not only cause Gundaminfo just uploaded the third movie of the original series today but because of how much this representes. This is not just an Amuro vs Char homage but its also an Utena duel(nothing surprising from this series) but using Amuro vs Char as its motifs. For those who haven't watched 079(about to spoil some stuff from the final battle of the original series, movies legally free on YouTube,i know you have an internet connection) during the final conflict between Char and Amuro there is a sword fight showing how to two of them are on the same level and how there is no one who reached their skills during the one year war(also Lalah but, you know...) but here is the interesting thing,Guel is not Char,he is just playing the role of Char in order to see if Suletta is at the level that she should be in order to face the real Char that is her mom.
#oh yeah the brain rot is real in this episode#gundam#suletta mercury#g witch#the witch from mercury#mobile suit gundam#gwitch#guel jeturk

Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis
This ONA is bad. The pacing’s bad, the characters don’t get a lot of development, the conflict isn’t set up very well, and the animation is mediocre. The thing is, I don’t hate it too much. It’s a very rushed very condensed adaptation of a source material that’s probably fine.
That’s it’s main problem, it’s just a bunch of three minute shorts trying to tell a story that’s too big for it. Even then, the big retcon of the main girl having an attachment to Char and muscled out by the existence of Lalah is kind of eye-rolling. Just another character who was majorly infatuated with the Red Comet, again.
Also, the model kit situation is pretty dire. As of this writing there’s 5 kits (Tristan Gundam, Byarlant Isolde, Birnam Jegan, Zaku III, and R-Jarja) and only 1 is a regular release. It’s also infamously bad, being a reuse of the old Gundam Alex kit (about 13 years old at the time of release) and keeping so much of the old engineering. The other kits aren’t too great either, perhaps the R-Jarja being the one that’s the best.
There are some things I did like though. I do like how the main Gundam is the antagonist’s suit. The fight between the Gundam and Byarlant vs the Zaku III was a legitimately fun fight. And the finale utilizes Newtype powers in a way that calls back really nicely to Char’s Counterattack and really works with the core concept of empathy rather than psychic super soldier powers.
-3/10
