Absorbed Glass Mat is a type of SLA/ VRLA Battery where the electrolyte is absorbed into separators between the plates of sponge-like fine glass fiber mats.
SLA batteries
SLA batteries have polypropylene resin cases that contain components. Their negative plate packs are covered in lead material. The electrolyte is suspended in gel. Their positive plates contain lead oxide. The electrolyte is suspended in gel or liquid. There is a valve to vent excess pressure.
Here are the Features of An SLA Battery
Reduced Cost Than Li-ion Options: SLA batteries are higher in price than basic flooded lead acid batteries. while lithium-ion batteries are known for being a powerful and safer option it increases costs several times compared to SLA batteries. Normal flooded batteries may last up to three years SLA batteries can go as high as 12 years, but five is the average.
Maintenance Free: Maintenance-free is regarded as maintenance-free since there is not much risk of leakage. Flooded batteries release gases into the atmosphere, hence battery has to be topped and they cannot be recovered.

VRLA Batteries
The valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries do not require replenishment of electrolyte solution and have ease of desired orientation. To meet the performance requirements the full range of applications in which rechargeable batteries are used technological development has been done.
A lead acid battery comprises lead acid cells in a container. They have two places of lead which is hung in electrolyte solution. When in use battery reduces the lead plates and turns them into sulfuric acid. To prevent hydrogen gas from building up a vent is used to relieve the pressure.
So to ringfence this problem valve-regulated lead acid batteries prevent the circulation of electrolytes inside the container, hence hydrogen is trapped near the plates making them readily available for recombination once the battery is recharged.  When charging is done two things happen either the electrolyte boils and produces too much pressure or the gas built may be quick for recombination with the water. Hence a pop-up valve is incorporated in the battery body which opens when pressure builds. The immobilizer prevents leakage of the liquid inside.

Leak-Proof Battery: There is no rust as there is no leakage. They are leak-proof and will not leak even if the container cracks. There is a glass mat separator that absorbs the electrolyte solution.
No requirement for additional safety gear: Since Vrla batteries do not corrode or spill they do not require special additional handling precautions.
Rechargeable: No maintenance is required once the charging system has been properly set up. The correct battery should be used to give the desired performance.
Heat and shock resistant: Because of their non-corrosive nature sulphuric acid does not leak in. They can withstand vibration, heat, and shock.
The two types of VRLA Batteries are: The Gel Cell and Absorbed Glass Mat
Gel Cell Battery: Gel-based battery has a jelly-like electrolyte where fumed (pyrogenic) silica is mixed with sulfuric acid. Because of the immobile gel, it can be put in any position and it is vibration and shock-resistant. They are generally used for electric wheelchairs generators and more.
Advantages of Gel Cell Battery:
They have a superior deep cycle.
They operate well in wet environments.
No recharge limitation.
It is air transportable.
It is very low to no gassing.
Disadvantages of Gel Cell Battery:

Absorbed Glass Mat Battery (AGM): By a thin fiberglass mat acid id acid is immobilized between plates. The acid is readily available and allows a reaction between the plate and the acid. The plates in AGM can be of any shape and they are flexible. They have higher rates of amperage compared to other batteries because of faster acid movement and low internal electrical resistance.
