It's really different kinds of weirdness! Like:
Drepanosaurs are "why did everything get shifted around? how did everything get shifted around?"
Rhynchosaurs are "this body plan makes sense, but i didn't expect it on this group"
Allokotosaurs are "they're not the weirdest anatomically, but they have the best designs by far"
Poposauroids are "they're funny because they look like an attempt to draw dinosaurs from memory. in the triassic they wouldn't have been funny yet"
Erythrosuchids and tanystropheids are "make a body part ridiculously oversized, this is dumb as heck but still supremely funny"
Sharovipterygids are "i get why this works, and how this works. but why did you have to do it this way"
Placodonts are "what happens when you do a brainstorming and just decide to keep everything"
Capitosaurs are "amphibian in a non-amphibian themed period = weird"
Kannemeyeriformes are "I would've loved to see them the most as Jurassic megafauna"
A Triassic Weirdo is any organism or group of organisms that first appeared in the Triassic and last appeared in the Triassic, with no descendants reaching the Jurassic. As this period was preceded by a major mass extinction, and followed by a major mass extinction, this leads to a *lot* of very unique organisms for the time period.
#they're all weird in my opinion (except maybe capitosaurs)#voting for sharovipterygids because they're so iconic#but my heart goes to allokotosaurs and kannemeyeriformes
