Von der Decken's hornbill (Tockus deckeni) (male), family Bucerotidae (hornbills)
Their long curved beak is also the easiest way to tell males and females apart. While male hornbills have brightly colored beaks, the bills on female hornbills are entirely black.
Note that this individual appears to have damage to the tip of his beak which make it appear rounded. Normally these birds, like other hornbills, have pointed tips to the beaks.

NFS. I am still feeling pretty rubbish at the moment and haven’t been able to muster the energy to do much, but now we have hit day 7 of being infected, I am very much hoping I’m back on the rise now! I feel I done so well to avoid getting covid… but three years later it has finally caught up with me. As of next week I will try to get back into the studio to get all your wonderful orders packed up (honestly thank you all so much!) and if you haven’t taken advantage already, the sale in still on the website! Von der deckens hornbills are not available as these are part of my personal collection. 🖤 #jennascuriocabinet #vonderdeckenshornbill #hornbills #birdskull #birdskulls #animalskulls #skullsofinstagram #odditiescollection #odditiesforsale #odditiesshop #monsteramadness https://www.instagram.com/p/CnXZNqTqDV2/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

May 23, 2020 - Von der Decken's Hornbill (Tockus deckeni)
Found in eastern Africa, in parts of Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, and Tanzania, these hornbills inhabit dry forests, savannas, and shrublands. They eat small vertebrates, eggs, fruit, seeds, and insects, usually foraging on the ground, often in pairs or small flocks. Pairs use mud and other materials to seal the entrances of their tree cavity nests with the females inside. They leave a small slit so males can pass food into the nest until the females break out of the cavities about two weeks before the chicks fledge.
