A to v období, kdy český trh obecně stagnoval.
Podrobné informace o prodeji v červenci na velkých trzích

Three Ways Canadian Mercedes-Benz Buyers Have It Better
Canada may not be known for the best weather, but the Mercedes-Benz star shines just a little bit brighter in the Great White North compared to the United States. Here are three reasons why:
Mercedes-Benz A250 Hatchback The outgoing Mercedes CLA250 four-door sedan carried the German company’s entry-level torch in the U.S. from 2013 on, while the all-new 2019 A220 sedan will fill that role moving forward. Power is down but the rest of the package looks to trump the old CLA. (A new and improved CLA is on the way for 2020.) Highlights include a more upscale interior with the latest tech, as well as a welcome bump in passenger space. But I’d prefer if Mercedes-Benz USA offered Canada’s new A250 hatchback instead. I think it has better proportions that the sedan—it’s hard to make a small sedan not look stubby—and the hatch version offers significantly more cargo space and versatility despite being five-inches shorter. Then there’s the engine. Canada’s A-class is more powerful, with 221 horsepower (versus 188) and 258 lb-ft of torque (against 221) and sharper acceleration—the claimed zero-to-60-mph drops from 7.1 seconds to 6.2. Yes, the stronger engine adds cost and I fully understand that the majority of Americans have zero interest in hatchbacks and station wagons unless they’re SUVs, but I’m jealous of Canadians nonetheless, who presumably also will get am AMG hatchback later. I guess I’ll just have to remember that they pay higher taxes and add the letter u to words where it has no business appearing.
Mercedes-Benz C-class Wagon Speaking of wagons, both Canadians and Americans are able to march into their Mercedes dealers and purchase the more practical version of the E-class—including the wicked cool, 603-hp AMG version. But those lucky bums up in Canada also get the smaller C-class longroof, and they’re offered not one but two versions—the C300 and the Mercedes-AMG C43. Now before you get too excited, that’s not the full-bore AMG C-class wagon. This dulls my Canadian envy slightly as the C63 is one of my ultimate dream cars. But it’s rear-wheel drive, making for a rather poor fit for most buyers in snowy climes. Getting back to what’s actually sold in Canada, the C wagon is better looking and handier to live with than the sedan, as it features plenty of additional cargo space and brings an impressive 52 cubes of storage when you fold the rear seats. Offering the C300 wagon in the U.S. would put Mercedes against the BMW 3 Series wagon and the Volvo V60—at least until BMW completely leaves the wagon market in the U.S., as it has said it will do with the launch of the new-generation 3 Series. Once that happens, there’s dozens of customers to conquer, making it the perfect time to fill the gap with the C-class wagon! Yes, the Audi A4 Allroad is offered in both the U.S. and Canada, but I stubbornly refuse to count that lifted, plastic-clad, wannabe SUV as a true wagon—if it can’t be proud of what it really is, it’s dead to me.
Mercedes G550 Standard Equipment While this particular item isn’t as awesome as the A250 hatch or C-class wagon, it is a small but significant way Canadian Benzes are better than ours—at least to aesthetes like me. The ugly front brush bar that curses the G-class as standard equipment in the U.S. is an option in Canada. I don’t know why anyone would want the eyesore (it’s not offered in Europe), but Canadians are at least given the choice. As such, they’re able to add the 360-degree camera if they smartly pass on the automotive equivalent of orthodontic headgear. In the States, we only get a rear camera on the G550 as the brush bar blocks the front camera view. Interestingly, you can spec the 360-degree camera on the U.S. Mercedes-AMG G63 for $400, due to its lower-mounted (and equally distasteful) standard brush bar. I’m no fan of the AMG-fettled G-class but at least it has that going for it, which is nice.

Mercedes-Benz A Class Sedan Debut
Tonight in Brooklyn, Mercedes-Benz introduced the car it will pit against the likes of the tiny Audi A3, the BMW 1-Series, and the Volvo S60: the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan.
It was the global debut of the entry-level sedan and the U.S. debut of any configuration of an A Class vehicle, which has been previously sold as a sleek hatchback in Europe.
“We didn’t feel the European version was quite right for the American market,” said Mercedes USA President and CEO Dietmar Exler. “With the sedan, that changes completely.”
Mercedes is using it to try to capture more conquest buyers from Audi and BMW, tearing a page from the playbook it wrote in 2013 when it launched the also-diminutive four-door CLA Coupe. That car saw a 50-percent conquest rate of first-time buyers to the Mercedes brand.
This time around, although Mercedes has yet to release pricing for the vehicle, it’s likely to be the least expensive Mercedes on the market today. That helps it to appeal to younger buyers, Exler said.
Indeed, people who bought the CLA were on average 11 years younger than the average age of buyers of other Mercedes vehicles. Exler said the A Class is expected to follow in those footsteps. “The formula for success in this industry is pretty simple: attract younger customers to the brand and keep them for life,” he said tonight on the top of the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge in DUMBO, where the launch was held. “The A Class will establish an all-new gateway for our brand to new customers, the young.”
It already happens to be the most aerodynamic—with a drag coefficient of 0.22, the A Class beats even the industry-leading Tesla Model S, which has a drag coefficient of 0.24. Mercedes did not release efficiency numbers, but buyers can expect it to sip fuel in the 30mpg range due to its slippery nature.
The A-Class Sedan will be available as an A220 two-wheel-drive and as an A220 4MATIC in four-wheel-drive. Both come equipped with a 2.0L inline-4 turbocharged engine that gets 188 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Both come with a seven-speed paddle-shift transmission. Top speed is 130mph.
From the exterior, the A Class looks much like a baby S Class, with a low, elongated hood, slim chrome headlamps, torch-like daytime driving lights, optional diamond radiator, and, of course, the central star. But there are some new additions: Each headlamp features multiple individually actuated LEDs and standard LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps. Optional 19-inch wheels look bigger and sportier than normal under the compact, 107.4-inch wheelbase.
On the inside, 64 colors of the optional ambient lighting make five times as many colors available than before. And Mercedes’ famous safety and crash avoidance systems are there as plentiful as in its other, more expensive vehicles. It even includes all of the autonomous driving systems now found in the S Class, a significant offering considering the expected price disparity between the two. (S Class sedans start at $89,900; the A Class will likely cost less than $40,000.)
Foremost among the new technologies offered in this least-expensive Mercedes is the latest version of the automaker’s infotainment system, called MBUX, which comes with advanced voice-recognition control and a choice between two fully free-standing high-resolution cockpits. (Those configurations offer either two 7-inch displays as standard or two 10.25-inch displays as optional).
“Think of it as Siri or Alexa, just on wheels,” Exler said.
Drivers address the system by saying, “Hey Mercedes” and then stating their command.
This will be the first time Mercedes introduces the MBUX system, which also includes 3D maximum-resolution graphics calculated in real time as the car drives. It’s likely to continue the brand’s status of leading the segment when it comes to digitization and overall technology. And will be a key decider for potential conquest customers considering buying the car. It will give Volvo in particular a strong challenge; the Swedish brand has been producing excellent screens and connectivity technology in its new cars and SUVs like the XC60 and V60.
Production of the new A-Class Sedan will be at the Mercedes-Benz Rastatt Plant in Germany in 2019. Orders begin later this year.

Neustále rostoucí prodejní trend společnosti Volvo Cars pokračoval i během prvních tří měsíců roku 2019, kdy automobilka ve srovnání s obdobím ledna až března roku 2018 zaznamenala zvýšení prodeje o 9,4 %.
V prvním čtvrtletí letošního roku se prodalo celkem 161 320 vozů, přičemž všechny klíčové trhy, tedy Čína, USA a Evropa, hlásí zvýšení objemu prodeje.
Nejžádanějšími byly modely XC60 a S90.
Američané měli největší zájem o modely SUV XC90 a XC60.

Volkswagen Golf R: 40 Custom Colors and We Drive the Wagon
I’m not a fan of metallic white paint—it looks too showy and contrived to my eyes. It’s most often seen on luxury cars from the likes of Mercedes, Audi, and BMW, or perhaps on a chrome-clad Cadillac Escalade parked at Bushwood Country Club, but it’s also available on the delightful Volkswagen Golf R, where it’s called Oryx White. Sadly, while you can’t get that car in the classier, motorsports-like non-metallic Pure White available in Europe, VW did recently announce an impressive consolation prize: an additional 40 optional colors for the 2019 model year marketed under the Volkswagen Spektrum Program banner.
A large offering of colors is nothing new in the high-end market but it’s special to find the wide selection on an automobile at the R’s lower price point. In addition, the pricing of the 40 custom colors fits the VW’s station. If you want a special color on a new Porsche, the outlay ranges from $6520 on a Macan to $12,830 on the 700-hp 911 GT2 RS. Over at Ferrari, it costs $12,487 to paint the new 488 Pista in a historic color. Picking a hue from the Volkswagen Spektrum Program only sets you back $2500. Not inexpensive, but pocket change by comparison.
And the majority of the new colors are far more exciting than refrigerator white. The Golf R is limited to five no-charge colors in the U.S.A.: Lapiz Blue, Tornado Red, Deep Black Pearl, Indium Gray, and, yes, Oryx White. The Spektrum Program includes Viper Green from the Lamborghini Huracàn and Euro Mk III Scirocco; Deep Blue Pearl from the Mk IV and Mk V R32s; and Mars Red from the Mk I Golf GTI. VW dealers have a color binder with paint samples and an online configurator featuring all 40 is live on vw.com.
Volkswagen’s press release notes that it will take two to four months for a car with one of the 40 colors to be built and delivered after an order is submitted. Mark Gillies, senior manager of product and technology communications at Volkswagen of America, said that the noted timeline is based upon Canada’s program (which started for the 2018 model year), but the port setup in the U.S. should improve things. I’m still looking forward to seeing a Golf R on the streets of America sprayed one of these special colors.
While we’re on the topic of the Golf R, I recently got to drive the not-for-the-USA wagon version in England. The Tornado Red example featured a non-U.S. Golf R option in the R Performance Pack. This £2300 (approximately $3000) package adds 19-inch wheels (the same “Englishtown” wheels that are standard on the Golf R here, although they’re called “Spielberg” there); upgraded, lighter brakes with silver-painted calipers; and a derestricted top speed. Hatchback versions of the Golf R carrying this package also get a larger rear hatch spoiler for increased downforce, although the wagon’s longer roof precludes that. Maximum speed of the Performance Pack hatch is 166 mph, but the wagon will carry on to 168 mph, according to VW. Buyers of the hatchback are also able to stack on an Akrapovic titanium exhaust for a pricey £2975 ($3895). The busy roads and lack of an autobahn in the U.K. didn’t allow me to test the top speed, but I did get plenty of time to exploit the the Golf R wagon’s other performance virtues.
Like the hatch, it’s a fast, comfortable, and versatile performance car that runs under the radar. Well, it would run under the radar if painted a subtler color than Tornado Red. (So forget about Viper Green.) The wagon version adds nearly a foot of length and 33 percent more cargo room, as well as 194 additional pounds at the curb. While it’s true that I’m a wagon nut, the hatchback is the better looking and more proportional design. The Golf R just doesn’t carry the same pretty proportions in wagon form as do, say, the BMW 3 Series or the new Volvo V60. Plus, if you don’t need the extra cargo space then the wagon doesn’t really make sense, as the shorter car is still plenty practical. The rest of the interior is pretty much identical. Most important, VW doesn’t offer the Golf R wagon with a manual gearbox, forcing buyers into the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, which has wicked-quick shifts but can be frustratingly clumsy when pulling away from a stop.
None of that kills my love of the Golf R in any form. The breadth of capability and overall performance given the outlay of cash is fantastic. It’s as happy to be thrashed on twisting, challenging English roads as it is at cruising effortlessly on an American freeway at 80 mph with four people and luggage. As long as you respect the throttle, it returns pretty impressive fuel economy, too. The Golf R is one of my top picks for a car that I’d buy with my own money for year-around use in Michigan. Of course, I’d get the manual gearbox. And I’d petition VW to add Pure White to the standard color palette here in the States, because I’d rather put $2500 toward importing that sweet titanium Akropovic exhaust.

Volvo Cars launch new S60 sports sedan – the first Volvo car made in the USA Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, today revealed the new S60 mid-size premium sports sedan at the company’s first US manufacturing plant in Charleston, South Carolina. The new Charleston plant is officially inaugurated today. The combined car launch and factory opening reinforce Volvo Cars’ commitment to the US, an important market for the company and its new premium sports sedan. The new S60 is the first Volvo car made in the US. “The new S60 is one of the most exciting Volvo cars we’ve ever made,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars. “It is a true driver’s car that gives us a strong position in the US and China sedan markets, creating more growth opportunities for Volvo Cars.” The new S60 is the first Volvo car to be sold without a diesel offer, signalling the company’s industry-leading commitment to electrification and a long-term future beyond the traditional combustion engine. In 2017 Volvo Cars was the first global car maker to announce its strategy that from 2019 all new models will be electrified. Two turbo-charged and super-charged plug-in hybrid petrol engines will be available in the new S60: Volvo’s T6 Twin Engine AWD plug-in hybrid that generates a combined 340hp, and the award-winning T8 Twin Engine AWD plug-in hybrid that delivers 400hp*. Volvo’s proven T5 and T6 petrol engines will be available at launch. In a first for the segment, customers can access the new S60 via Volvo Cars’ new premium subscription service Care by Volvo, which offers car access with no down payment via a monthly flat-fee subscription rather than ownership. Care by Volvo makes having a car as transparent, easy and hassle free as having a phone. “The active chassis and drive modes deliver excellent control and an engaged performance that makes this a driver’s car,” said Henrik Green, senior vice president for research and development at Volvo Cars. “It also brings the acclaimed technology from our 90 Series and other 60 Series cars into this segment, making it one of the best sports sedans on the market.” The new S60 shares Volvo Cars’ own Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, safety technology and infotainment system with the new V60 premium mid-size estate, launched earlier this year, as well as the top-of-the-line 90 Series cars and award-winning XC60, all of which have achieved industry-leading safety ratings. This makes the new S60 one of the safest cars on the road. The City Safety with Autobrake technology assists the driver in avoiding potential collisions, and is the only system on the market to recognise pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. In a world first for the mid-size sedan segment, City Safety now also engages auto braking to mitigate oncoming collisions. The optional Pilot Assist system – which supports the driver with steering, acceleration and braking on well-marked roads up to 130km/h – has been upgraded with improved cornering performance. The S60 also includes Run-off Road Mitigation, Oncoming Lane Mitigation and other steering assistance systems. The optional Cross Traffic Alert with autobrake further enhances safety for people inside and outside the car. Volvo Cars’ Sensus Connect infotainment system is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and 4G, and keeps drivers connected at all times. The intuitive control is a tablet-style touch screen interface that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and in-car entertainment apps Electrified versions of the new S60 also offer a performance handling upgrade called Polestar Engineered – developed by Volvo Cars’ electric performance arm, Polestar. Polestar Engineered is available exclusively on the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid and is a complete offer that upgrades the car’s wheels, brakes, suspension and engine control unit, boosting the S60 T8 combined output to 415hp*. First Drive: 2019 Volvo V60 Inscription T6 AWD
TARRAGONA, Spain — You probably remember that the Volvo station wagon nearly left the U.S. market for good a few years ago, eliciting a great outcry from professors, college students, auto journalists, and other stereotypical diehard SUV-resistors who help maintain sales numbers of such cars in the (low) thousands. What we saved from almost certain extinction globally was the outgoing Volvo V60, a rather pudgy wagon that seemed to want to look like a sort of crossover.
Volvo wants you to know that its station wagon renaissance is here, with the new 2019 Volvo V60 coming to America no earlier, unfortunately, than the first quarter of next year.
The new car joins its elegant big brother, the V90, on the SPA scalable architecture, an uber-flexible platform in which the only constant is the rear-wheel-drive dash-to-axle proportions that make room for an extra crash zone, and in the case of the V60 T8 model to come later, space for a plug-in hybrid electric motor between the transverse 2.0-liter four and the front cowl.
Proportions of the 2019 Volvo V60 are improved all around. It’s 4.9 inches longer, rides on a 2.8-inch longer wheelbase, and is two inches lower overall, at a sub-crossover 56.4 inches. The sport/utility in this wagon is in how it’s easier to enjoy such sports as bicycling, skiing, and kayaking, because you can attach bikes, skis, and kayaks much more easily to the roof racks—a point that Buick has made with its 58.4-inch-tall Regal TourX.
Styling is more youthful and “technical” than the more “stately” V90, says Jurgen Jose, exterior senior manager. “Yacht design inspired the V90,” he says, which isn’t true of the V60, despite the strong family resemblance.
The 2019 Volvo V60 separates the connected front and rear shoulder-lines of the V90, which emphasize that car’s length. The V60’s daylight opening sweeps up a bit more from the c- to d-pillar than the V90’s, though the glass of the new model also extends lower by 0.6 inch than in the bigger wagon. The taillamps are thinner than the V90’s and the Thor’s hammer headlamp design element runs through the center of the headlamp lens, but doesn’t touch the grille frame.
Volvo is particularly proud of its standard driftwood dash trim, which is bent both up and down to connect the two outer HVAC vents and the Sensus Connect four-tile infotainment screen.
This renaissance of Swedish modern style builds upon a brand aesthetic that is quickly becoming the most desirable design language in the premium/luxury auto business, an anecdote for often-garish German competitors that rule the segment. “Boxy but good” can also be “handsome” when the edges are curved and the side surfacing is clean and expressive.
You must choose the V60 Inscription to get the standard driftwood inlays, but there’s something very appealing about the “base” V60 Momentum, which comes standard with the 250-hp turbocharged-only 2.0-liter I-4, front-wheel-drive and 17-inch wheels (the T6 powertrain and AWD are optional). For no extra cost, you can eschew the standard leather seats in the Momentum in favor of what Volvo calls “City Weave” cloth seats with plaid inserts.
Volvo USA says it fought for this option—perhaps in the same way it fought to keep the old V60 imports to the U.S.—and for once, the “base” model doesn’t look like a straight-to-rental-fleet special. If you can maintain option sheet discipline and keep your V60 Momentum’s sticker down in the low-$40s, you’ll be paying tribute to the kinds of Volvos that hit it big in the U.S. back in the ‘60s, ‘70s and ’80s, when it was a mid-priced, but not a premium/luxury European brand.
The 21st Century interpretation of Volvo-ness permeates the engineering as well as the design. Volvo calls its new V60 a “driver’s car.” This is hyperbole. The 2019 Volvo V60 drives exactly as you’d expect. Don’t expect German sport sedan dynamics from an all-wheel-drive version of a front-wheel-drive car with a rear-wheel-drive dash-to-axle proportion.
Monsoon-like rain early in the morning blunted our first drive, which started from a lovely beach town on the Mediterranean Coast outside of Barcelona. After a late re-start, we managed to make the mountain esses on the other side of Barcelona, but the pavement was still wet. A drier mountain run later in the day was too short (and crowded with traffic) to come close to exploring limits.
Moderate understeer is fine for a C/D-segment family wagon, and the superb steering provides a light touch with excellent feel and feedback. Aggressively bolstered front seats keep you in place nicely. There’s moderate compliance, good grip, and decent fun to be had if you don’t mind your kids spilling from their juice boxes.
The T6’s 316-hp “Twin Engine” is quick enough to launch you into any gap in a straight line, though somehow the supercharger-to-turbocharger hand-off stumbles slightly in low-speed turns. Shifting into the sport-shift mode mitigates this significantly, still with some hesitation, and you’ll probably start worrying about what this does to fuel efficiency. Powering Volvos of every size and weight with no more than a 2.0-liter engine does force compromise, after all.
Shifting yourself can help, too, but you’ll be using the gearshift unless you wait for the Volvo V60 R-Design, which will be the only trim level with paddle-shifters. Similar to Audis, Mercedes-Benzes and BMWs, this Volvo comes with driver-select “comfort” and “dynamic” settings. This seems to affect throttle response more than chassis setting. Best to get in and drive and enjoy the comfort, serenity and feng shui of the handsome surroundings.
There’s a Harmon/Kardon audio upgrade and a Bowers & Wilkins hi-fi option above that. There’s the obligatory panoramic sunroof.
Our Volvo V60 Inscription featured navigation (an option on some versions, as Volvo recognizes that many drivers would rather use smartphone map apps) and the trim level’s standard multimedia package, with the “four-tile” 12.3-inch center display. This touch-screen works as well as any premium/luxury infotainment touch-screen, which means it’s also too dependent on the driver looking at the screen to change what he or she wants, even the seat heaters/coolers. This takes your eyes off the road for too long. Volvo recommends using the voice-command.
Volvo has a hardware update for this Sensus Connect system to correct slow startup on early versions. Infotainment speed is up to 50 percent quicker, though for us (my drive partner and me) the navigation system often seemed a turn behind the times, which left us making a wrong turn on at least one occasion.
This wouldn’t be a proper Volvo First Drive review without at least mentioning the existence of a long list of leading edge safety features and advanced driver assistance systems. The V60 comes with a 360-degree camera view, operated by push-button that changes from the rearview camera, City Safety with automatic emergency braking including pedestrians, bicyclists and large animals, on-coming traffic alert with steer-assist and run-off-road mitigation. A blind spot information system is optional.
Our Inscription also came with Pilot Assist, a hands-on-the-wheel system that Volvo says reduces stress by guiding drivers through curves. It can be annoyingly intrusive at times, though it does come with a defeat button. Otherwise, the new, 2019 Volvo V60 is a stress-free car with Pilot Assist turned off. It’s a driver’s car the longer and farther you drive it, and while it’s not quite a sports wagon, it’s not an SUV or crossover, either (though a V60 CC is coming). Tweed-jacketed fans of Volvos past are likely to find it the most appealing new car in its price segment.
