I'm really curious about what you think schooling would look like in a Solarpunk world/future!

Because the current public school system is broken af and the homeschool system isn't much better. I personally have looked into things like Sudbury schools and found good things and also issues. I've always been a proponent of the IDEA of Unschooling (which I understand to be, letting the child learn naturally through the world around them, learn reading through reading to them or teaching math and even basic chemistry through teaching them to cook, etc) but it seems like most parents use it as an excuse to not educate their kids...

I really think kids should learn practical things alongside the Academic stuff (three Rs, science, etc) but no system seems right...

Oooh boy! Have I thought about this one endlessly!

So background info that I have to frame where I'm coming from-

A- the current system is built for school>> factory worker pipeline

B) it also evolved from ppl working at factories and needing to put their kiddos somewhere while they worked their 9-5! Thus Sunday school evolved from something to teach basic literacy to a full time job for children (it's legit nearly 40 hour weeks for CHILDREN) so there's a lot of padded time to ensure they meet that quota

C) it's used of a massive scale it was NOT designed to be used at

Soooo!! Let's imagine a better one!

Personally, based on children's development I think schooling should be broken up into focused chunks and then obvi each kiddo should be able to work at their own pace within these chunks of time.

0-6 Motor and sensory skills- introduced to music/shapes/building, "helping" with community chores (laundry/windows/dishes/sweeping), basics of plants/gardens, learning about transportation and basic navigation.

7-10 Written- literacy (reading/printing/telling time/storytelling/etc), health (emotional+physical), basic cooking + tool usage, basics of history/geography, basics of all sciences, gardening more independently

11-13 social + advanced work -- advanced history/science/literacy/home eco/etc.. start working within the community in a vollunteer capacity, Starting to specialize in interests, focuses in philosophy/analysis/debate,

14-20 community and citizenship --greated focus in Philosophy/debate/analysis in addition to apprenticeships of testing out what they'd like to do with their lives

20+ whatever they wanna do! Personally I think our adulthood should start over from 0 here. Bc after you hit 20 your a baby adult, but like a 35yr old is nearly a teenager as should be treated as such! Finding themselves, building community, getting the swing of all that jazz.

Then the WAY this is taught would be with ppl close to the kiddos, neighbors and parents and community leaders would be in charge of these chunks. Much more like a tutor or professor style where each teacher specializes in both the thing their teaching but also the kiddos their raising.

Feanorions and Monopoly would be even MORE chaotic. No matter how they start the game, it would always end up with them taking it too seriously. They would somehow make it into a high stakes strategy game only not so slightly veering into warcraft. It'd be Silmarillion 2.0. No one really dies but theres always someone who gets close to being stabbed and someone flips the table at least twice a game.

Moryo is being a very stingy banker. He wanted to play too but was too preoccupied on the money distribution being Right that just took over the job. But when he does join in the game, everyone suddenly wants to team up against the guy on principle. Moryo double checks every piece of money everyone has. He somehow knows how much is left in your bank and can and will find a way to bankrupt you for the pettiest things. In fact, he enjoys driving people to backrupcy. Especially Curufin. And Maglor.

While he's playing, Maedhros vollunteers to be the banker and suddenly commiting tax frauds are 10x more harder and easier at the same time. It makes Moryo wanna rip his hair off.(His own or Meadhros. He's not that picky)

It is surprisingly, Maedhros who commits tax frauds when playing but they cant even call him out on it because he is somehow able to keep argueing his way out of the accusation and it blindsides them when he pulls out an Actual Literal Quenyan Property Law out of his ass and says that they cannot properly arrest him nor seize his properties without a warrant and evidence. He claimed the Ambarussa as his "vassals" (there are no such things as vassals in monopoly, Nelyo—) and therefore he has negotiated, with all the gravitas and political expertise he has learned from several years of leading armies and being an actual Lord of Himring, 25% of their own profits to be promised to him. ("This is basically daylight robbery, brother! From our own flesh and blood!—")

Maglor is somehow getting good investments at the first half before Curufin and Celegorm worked together to bankrupt him in one fell swoop. He is shouting crying throwing up but he cant do anything about it but become indebted to the two.

There was a near mutiny when Feanor and Nerdanel teamed up.

Before they knew it they're in a three way war with each other.

No one has more stronger opinions on property law than Feanorions.

I tottaly get not having oficial qsmp accs updates, bc like, to it to work you would need MANY admins, like on the accs only for updates into one or two streamers are like +10 admins usually, and sometimes I would see they posting that there we no people to uodate what was happen on livestream, so for the OFICIAL qsmp acounts that need to update ALL of streamers there should be like +100 people. And +100 people are extremelly hard to maintain, even if that continued to be just a vollunter position (witch you are not paid), having to keep an eye at all of the admins would be so fucking hard, like how you sre going to keep "taking care" of +100 people, not counting the others admins?? To do that or he would keep a eye on +100 people or him would contract more people to keep a eye on them (we already saw that this didnt work well and It would cost more). So I totally get not having the updates accs like it used to be, even bc we already have unficional updates accs and people liveblogging the livestreams so yeahhh this is my opnion

Dustin told the party that they will go camping in the woods tommorow and play dnd or wathever they want at 10am and everyone agreed but Mike cant wait for tommorow and decided to radio Dustin, El, Lucas and Will to meet him up in the woods over and out.

the 4 came at 8pm in there pj and El is a bit confused but the 3 know why they are here, Mike then said okay lets get started! Dustin replied to him "umh, okay but wheres Max?" El and Will look at Mike, Mike turn to Lucas and said "i thought you will come with her" Lucas then replied, "i thought shes here already" Mike knew that everyone wont play without her so he came up with an idea, two of them will come to get her while the others will stay here.

El vollunteer to get Max because she know Max will only listen to her and mike then replied "perfect, okay Lucas you come with El" Lucas ask why him, Dustin mention that his the only one whos carraying an axe in the party. Lucas rolled,his eye and just said fine, he ride on his bike and left while El walk away.

After a minute the three heard a scream near by and they followed it and saw a big claw mark on the tree, Els necklace and Lucas bike with blood on them the three got scared and panic then ran away and got out of the woods.

they took a break for an hour and start to search El and Lucas the search took 9 hours. its now 5:38am and still no sign of them Mike, Will and Dustin starting to panic, shouting, and blaming them self, Will is now worried, hopper wont chill if he finds out about this. dustin keeps radio them but no answer, the three is tired and fell asleep.

after 4 hours they woke up and scream cuz they saw someone standing beside them... turns out to be max, she laughed at them and told them they scream like a baby, the three rolled there eyes and stand up, after Max stop laughing she ask wheres El and Lucas, Dustin got nervous and told her he dont know they got here first mike and will smile forcely.

she look at them and then ask how come theres 5 bags here when they were only 3. thats when the three panic. Max give them a serious look and ask where are them.

will they told her the truth or just going to run away?

I feel like Mike would straight lie to Max, mostly because of his pride. Dustin, on the other hand, is such a terrible later that there’s no way that Max will believe him. And then is Will, who is just really worried about his sister and friend. I think that he would tell her the truth with worried eyes. 

Then Mike would get angry because “Will? come on man!” but they all would stay still at Max’s angry voice. 

But she wasn’t only angry. She was also so worried about El and Lucas. Boys would see it and eventually calm down and tell her everything that they know. 

Max would also made them walk with her again and look for El and Lucas again “because you losers wouldn’t be able to see any troops either way.” 

Will they find something this time? Or maybe not something but someone or someone with furry…?

What it like living the good life while so many people starve on the streets

Ever heard of the Stark Relief Foundation? Pepper and I head that organization. It's there to help those in need and support the family and friends of any casualties that result from an Avengers battle. Worldwide.

What about FEAST? Heard of that one? It's right here in New York. While I didn't start that one, it has my full support. Stark industries make a generous donation every single year.

Actually, Myself, as well as Stark Industries support a great deal of local, national, and international charities. But we can't do it all. Everyone has to pitch in and do their part. Don't have the funds to donate? That's fine. You can give them some of your time. Vollunteer, organize events or advocate for their cause. Every little bit helps.

As one of my very good friends says, 'When you help someone, you help everyone."

Set a positive example. Inspire the change you want to see in the world.

So my neighborhood is SO COOL and I wanna share some of the awesome stuff that's been making some movement. This is mostly to highlight why taking an interest in your neighborhood is so rewarding.

#1 - park renos! The park in walking distance of my house has been under construction for a few months. They're doing a LOT of work. Primarily, they are building a skating Rink, fire pit, picnic area, basketball area, and extending the existing kid park. Before it was just 3 baseball fields and a small park. They also have added over 10 apple trees and over 15 native trees!! They also have a Cafe going into the apartment complex they are putting across the street (which is low income housing but every unit has a washer/dryer, and has a firepit/BBQ area for entertainment on the roof I wish I had photos of it but I'll put a video of an example where I used to live btw the person in the video is my old roomie I'm sorry K for not editing u out forgive mee)

#2 little Libraries

There are 3 little Libraries in walking distance of my place, one is opening tomorrow! The one tomorrow also has a little blockbuster and a food pantry attached to it, it's outside a community resource center.

#3 Resource center

Omg!! So the resource center does a lot. It has counciling, good food boxes where you pay 30$ for 15lbs of produce from local farms monthly, job hunting services including free computers and printers for applying to things, parenting groups, that kinda junk. But the key feature I saw for the first time today was the "Closet room" which I thought was exclusively clothes but nah it's basically a whole thrift store! It's got baby clothes, toys, unused toothbrushes, movies, books, interview clothes, pjs going up to xxxL, pots and pans, anything else you could think of. It made me realize why no one uses the thrift store up the hill from me. Why pay when this closet community feature is free??? They have vollunteers run it so it's take way you want, donate what you can and omg!

I could go on but that's just from today!

I was a vollunteer and I was waiting for something to do and they needed markers quickly in the locker room, and i was the one that was just there like give me something to do😅

I have to be there when we fire an associate for attendance. He shows up late constantly, usually "i slept in" or something simple and correctable, and im told by the coaches he needs to be fired and i knowwwwww im gonna tear up, choke up when im in that office firing him. I feel so bad. Hes a great worker, he just is late almost every single day by almost an hour. And especially with his ability as a worker, they feel robbed of his ability by him being late. Understandable. But did anybody vollunteer to ask him why hes late or ask him if hes okay? Or maybe giving a fuck about this dude as a person regularly? There could be things we dont know that are contributing to his lateness or unmotivation (maybe he doesnt like his position anymore?) That was neglected before it was decided that he should be let go. If my input had mattered at all, i wish any personal info i DID know about this guy would have been taken into consideration. I feel terrible and it wasnt even my decision. It was actually against my decisions because i had been clearing his late points knowing that this good worker would never have a crappy pointless reason to show up late. I know i can be a pushover as a manager sometimes but nothing makes me feel worse than taking someones livelihood away from them.
